First off—great protein based gel. It has no glycerin, it’s lightweight and smells amazing. (Yes like blueberries!) But like everyone says it can dry sticky or stiff and limit hair movement if not used correctly. 1. Damp not wet hair—when the hair is too wet the gel will just evaporate leaving the hair frizzy with no definition imo… 2. Don’t use alone—I used it by itself and my hair was giving stiffness. No movement or anything. It also dried up in days. I paired it with their Leave-in (great slip btw) 3. Don’t use too much—a little goes a LONG way. Also note this isn’t your super hold gel it’s very much lightweight, for soft curl definition, so more doesn’t mean more it makes it sticky. 4. I have long, fine, curly hair that can be a bit unruly and loves to frizz out in the summer humidity. I try to wash it only two times a week so I was excited to try the curl reactivator to see if it helps revive my curls. It works great in tandem with other curl products like the curl mousse. However, if it's the sole product you are using on your hair I will say that it's not enough to combat frizz, for me at least. That being said, it definitely does what says, it revives curls, especially ones that are 2+ days old. It doesn't weigh down the hair and make it greasy. My hair feels really soft after using. Really nice lightweight product that is perfect for wave/curl touch ups. If I’m honest, this isn’t too much different in performance to a watered down hair conditioner, but I love the convenience and that they got the ratio right. I have thinning hair and I love that this product doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it oily/greasy at all. To get the most out of this product, I like to slightly dampen with water and then go in with this. Not necessary to take that added step, but it helps stretch out the product more. I got this at the store today because I am trying to embrace my wavy hair for the summer and put less heat on it. I originally went to get the lightweight curl cream and figured I would get both. I tried this today on day 2 hair and I’m pretty impressed. It reformed my curls and took the frizz away. The only reason I deducted a star is because I felt like I needed to spray my hair with water to get the full effect. I was hoping this alone would do the trick. I will still continue to use this though and maybe on day 3,4,5 I can use without water. I have hair extensions as well and it works on them too. I love love love this product. I was suffering from dry damaged hair and nothing seemed to work for me to give me that soft healthy looking hair. I wasn't using any gel but my hair felt very crunchy and dry which led to breakage all the time. Before using this product I would have to use 2/3 products after I wash my hair, and then use a thick cream throughout the week to keep moisture in. But with this, I can finally just use 1 product!!!! That’s a major achievement for me. I use this after I use the Curlsmith co wash, and my hair stays moisturised throughout the week. So I’ve been searching the ends of he earth for something that will tame my frizz but show my curl. And let me tell you this is it! I swear by this product I also stock up when it’s on sale! I honestly have never been happier with the product! I will say application is EVERYTHING. I have natural/4a hair. I used this product after taking down a 6 week protective. I started off by shampooing with the TGIN Rosewater hydrating shampoo ( Which I LOVE). After that, I applied this protein treatment for about 10-15 mins. I immediately followed up with the TGIN Moisture Deep Conditioning Mask.. it left my hair feeling amazingly healthy.My hair went from feeling limp and brown to shedding and breakage, to strong and resilient to shedding & breakage. I'm not sure if I would have gotten these same great results if I didn't follow up with the deep conditioner as suggested on the bottle. Will definitely buy again! 🙂Taylor D
For anyone who doesn't know- protein treatments HAVE TO BE USED WITH A HYDRATING/ MOISTURIZING conditioner as the second step. I am wearing my hair curly and it's hard to tell if my hair is stronger. It did leave my hair feeling dry and I left it in without heat for thirty minutes under a shower cap wrapped in a bath towel. I have been experiencing a lot of split ends, breakage along the shaft and just overall not happy with my hair journey so I am praying for good results. Use this in my 1 yr old’s fine, curly hair as a daily moisturizer along with aloe vera juice and essential oils. I also use it to style her hair, either method keeps her curls soft, moisturized and detangled, while helping to hold her style in place. My texture is thick and curly and my hair has the same results. I do not use it to hold my styles as my texture is too thick and requires more hold. I love Living Proof products. Most don't fail to nourish and hydrate my hair. But I was skeptical about using the curl enhancer since I have loose wavy hair. On top of that, I’m not really a hair product person, in general. Like if I’m styling my hair, I’ll use a heat protectant and do a mask or treatment on occasion, but I don’t typically use a product post-shower on the reg. This was a game changer. My hair had waves I typically can only achieve after styling with a heat tool. And it looked super healthy and conditioned. The luster and luminescence are reminiscent of the efficacy of Kerastase products, which I j'dore. The fragrance is beautiful, similar to other Living Proof scents – light, clean, fresh. I’m considering adding this to my daily routine; the only caveats are the price and my having to expand my beauty regimen.natasha.p
I don't like using a lot of product on my hair. This product works great for my minimalist style. I have fine hair that touches my shoulders and it's pretty thick. I towel dry slightly first and then rub about a pea size amount on my hands and rake it through my strands as it instructs and I add a tad more in the front since I start application in the back. Scrunch, dry the roots for a little volume and when it's completely dry I flip my head upside down and scrunch a little. It leaves my hair soft and defined and looks great all day. Finding the right amount is key. Start with just a little and see what works best for you.NaceyW
I've been using the Curl Enhancer and Curl Defining Gel for about three weeks. It took some trial and error, but I have finally figured out appropriate amounts to use, and my waves look amazing. My hair is soft, shiny, and defined, there is zero crunch (as long as the appropriate amount is used), and I've noticed significantly less breakage. I have very thick, coarse 2a/2b waves. My hair gets weighed down easily, my scalp is oil-prone, and my skin/scalp are very sensitive. Most curly products don't work for me or cause issues with my skin, but the Curl Enhancer hasn't caused any issues with these concerns! My skin is clear (no breakouts or irritation), my hair has volume and isn't weighed down, and my scalp/roots aren't an oily mess. The only problem I did have was figuring out how much to use. A little goes a long way, and using too much can result in buildup. The first time I used it, I used too much, a cast developed, and white particles went flying everywhere when I scrunched out the crunch (gross!). Trial and error fixed that, and I no longer have that issue. Overall, it was worth the hassle because I am very pleased with the results.Happy Camper

I bought Kevin Murphy products by suggestion of my stylist. I got the Smooth shampoo and conditioner. This is some of the worst shampoo and conditioner I've ever used. Herbal Essence smooths my hair more than these products! The shampoo and conditioner are so harsh are my curly hair, it is left dry and brittle after each time I've used it. My scalp is always itchy also. I use a wet brush in the shower to comb through the conditioner and detangle my hair, but it is a work out with this conditioner. There is no slip. After my hair dries it ends up severely tangled, knotted, and deprived of moisture. Not only are the products poor quality but the packaging is terrible. It's really hard to pop open the caps. I have had to unscrew the lids off every time to get product out. You also can't squeeze them much so that makes it difficult to use all of the product in the bottle as well. Lastly, the smell isn't very nice either. It's tolerable, but not preferable. I wish I could say there was anything redeeming about these products, especially since they were so expensive, but unfortunately these are a huge miss and I can't imagine why any salon is carrying them.Shannon

Being Hispanic I was introduce to this at a very young age, it's the ONLY thing I could use that will leave my hair with tight curls and not get all frizz. I do use a lot of it but it's so worth it and my hair would be good for more then a week after applying in it. I haven't used gel in my hair in years, as it brings back horrible high school memories of flaking and dry frizzy hair, ha ha. However, I picked this up on a whim and wow! It works for my 3b curls on the top and sides of my head, but it totally shines when I put it on my 4a curls at the back of my head (kitchen). Those babies end up perfectly spiraled! This stuff has a nice, flexible hold, and adds just a bit of shine to my curls. It's not sticky while applying it, but it IS sticky while it's drying. Once it's completely dry though that feeling goes away and you're left with bouncy, touchable curls that freaking LAST. I can get a good 3 or 4 days out of my wash n' go when I use this curling jelly, which for my hair is basically a miracle. It doesn't weigh my hair down and build up is actually fairly minimal. Love this product, can't reccomend it enough!
I searched years for a product to not only curl but moisturize my natural 4c course hair love it, I started with moisturizing curl activator love it, so I decided to try the Jelly and leave in conditioner. Love it as well, the leave in conditioner works well for me together with the jelly and activator and I tried on both wet and dry hair Awesome. Also you don't need to apply a lot a quarter or less size amount will do the job. Don't put to much in hair will get flakey. I tried this over the “pillow soft curls” that I wasn’t completely satisfied with, and I must say “quick curls” works much better for my hair texture. I have loose curls and find that I can use this during any day of the week either right after a wash or right before I need to wash again and still get the same results. I feel like I get the same effect as gel without the hardening or flakes. This is exactly what I wanted. Very satisfied. READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVE WAVY HAIR. This product advertises as being good for relaxed textures (wavy hair), yet it doesn’t have the hold that people with wavy hair need to avoid their hair from straightening out. There are some good things about this product, but overall It doesn’t do what it advertises. What I like about it is that it smells really good. It has a very clean smell, like lemon and lavender. It also makes my hair really soft and touchable. That being said, it has literally zero hold and doesn’t help hair clump together like a curl cream should, especially since it’s advertised as good for wavy hair. I have fine, but thick hair, with 2b waves. I prefer curl creams because they give me a little hold without making my fine hair stringy. This product completely separates my waves, does not help my hair clump, and is nothing more than a leave in conditioner. This did not work for me at all. I tried to make this work as a single styler as well as in combination with pretty much every other styling product I own. I've accepted that this is not for me. I have wavy hair that needs strong hold products to enhance curl definition. This did not hold my curl for even just one full day. It made my hair extremely frizzy and dry. I also don't really like the scent of this either. It's just not pretty in any sense of the word. And it doesn't even deliver on the key selling point – that it speeds up dry time. I can't say that I noticed much of a difference. I ended up giving it to my partner but he didn't like it either for his very long fine hair. I have very dry, very fine, thinning hair (thanks menopause!). I diluted product a little with distilled water and it works perfectly. It defines my curly and waves without weighing them down. Also really helps keep the frizz at bay even in this southern humidity. As an added bonus, the scent is heavenly!! I've had multiple people comment "wow, your hair smells so good, what are you using?" . I have several different curl patterns and I use this on the sides and front sections of my hair. I like the product, but I don't like the sprayer. I think it's cumbersome to use. I use this product with a curling gel to get the desired curl that I want. The sides of my hair are more resistant to curling and I need Twist & Set, foam, and a gel to get it just the way I like it. I don't use this all over, because it doesn't work as well on all sections of my hair. I am comfortable using different product types on my hair to get the desired result. I love this cream for my hair- particularly my ends when I'm in-between washes. I use it primarily when I want to refresh my tresses and add some moisture where needed. After using a leave-in conditioner, and hair oil, I lock everything in with this curl custard. A little goes a long way, I spread it on my hair hair, brush it through and then wrap my hair with a silk scarf for the night. In the morning my hair is hydrated, my ends are sealed and bone straight like I like it! I have used it when twisting or braiding my hair in the summer, and it keeps my style frizz free for days. I only use more on my twists if I spray so water for extra hydration and then seal them with a little more of this curl custard. No residue and no crazy build up or flakes. This creme was my first purchase, along with two other products, (Don't Despair, Repair hair mask, and the Scalp Revival Shampoo). Let me tell you! I love these products. I have been using the Curling Creme for a little over three months now. A little goes a long way, and I have coarse and thick 4C afro hair! I cut the rest of my relaxed hair off right after I bought these products after a year of transitioning my hair, and really wanted to look into healthier products and clean ingredients for my hair, and Briogeo fits the bill of what I was looking for! I wanted to wait a while before I posted a review because I wanted to be really honest with all of you. I love this coil custard! It can hold my twist-outs/bantu knot-outs for days! And I mean without reapplying from day 1!! It leaves my strands shiny and the ingredients are so healthy for my hair! At first, I was a little hesitant when I bought this since it was a bit more pricey than other curly hair brands at big chain stores. And after watching Youtube videos of reviewers using half the tub to do their hair only once, was crazy to me!! Works well on type 3c greying curls, medium to high porosity. I'm used to using handfuls of conditioners and creams in my hair, but I found I only need a small amount of this. I started using a lot and my hair was way too greasy and weighed down. Now I use a twoonie size amount on wet hair after conditioning and it's working really well. Nice hold, and my hair feels soft and hydrated for days. I am sensitive to fragrance and did get a headache when I was using a lot of product. No headaches since adjusting how much I use. This is a clean product but still contains a small amount of synthetic fragrances. I hope the manufacturer considers a new formulation with zero synthetic fragrances or oils.nalabean

Seemed like a good idea to have a combination creme and gel product when I picked this up, but my hair just didn't agree with it at all. Even when I tried to follow the directions to "seal" the ends of my curls with the product, the result was just bleh. My hair had a dried out feel to it and it got incredibly tangled with this product in it. My hair is somewhere between a 2C and 3A for curls, so maybe it just wasn't curly enough for this product to work, but I wouldn't recommend it.knk1
I have tried a million products for my curls trying to find one that does as much as possible for as low a price point as possible – I need look no further! For context, I have a variety of curl types on my head (2C at the back, 3B at the front, and everything in between), medium thickness, low-porosity/virgin hair which is cut very short and this stuff works beautifully for me. It has enough hold to define my curls and eliminate frizz but it's lightweight enough to not pull my ringlets into waves, and enough moisture to look after them for a long time – I used to wash my hair every other day because it would get frizzy, now I can go over a week sometimes and it still looks good! It does need to be applied to almost-dripping-wet hair, and it does form a cast which I know some people don't like because of the crunchy feeling but I promise you that all you gotta do is scrunch it out when it's dry and then it'll look great. I usually use my fingers to apply it evenly all over my head when my hair is still wet, then scrunch and squish the hair from the tip towards the root to further distribute the product and bring back the curls. I then dry my hair with a diffuser until it is mostly dry, then I let it air dry the rest of the way. Only when it is COMPLETELY DRY do I scrunch out the cast – I'm then left with soft, bouncy and defined curls! It took a bit of trial and error to get the amount of product required right – if you don't use enough you'll get frizz but if you use too much it can leave you looking a bit greasy – but it's so affordable it's worth the trial! Oh also, the scent is amazing and does linger for a little while which is so nice – if you don't like coconut though, this may not be for you. I'd highly recommend giving this a go though if you're styling curls on a budget.Lillk001

I have been using the Shea Moisture conditioner for approximately two weeks and was provided them by #trywithtopbox as a #freeproduct for my honest review. I have fine, thin, waist length hair that is naturally blonde starting to go grey, that is prone to split ends and I would describe as normal to oily. I don't wash it daily but every 2 to 3 days it's just too much work to do daily. I used the conditioner as directed and found that my hair combed out fairly easily even while still wet which was great as it tends to tangle quite badly when I don't use a good conditioner on it. My hair was soft and shiny and manageable. The container for this feels slightly greasy when I handle it during use even after rinsing them off. The conditioner bottle uses a pump as a dispenser which is great but I couldn't get the original one that came with the bottle to function. I replaced it with one I had but I noticed that the thick conditioner dries and forms a plug that takes several pumps to force out. Overall I would say this was a good product that worked as advertised and if someone was looking to try this I would recommend it, I'm not sure if it is the best choice for me given the frequency with which I wash my hair.MargarethaM

I don't believe in perfect/miraculous product, there are a lot of gimmicky products out there that target our insecurities. But Shea Moisture's daily hydration line (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in) is the best life line of products I have used in ages! I have tried Pantene, L'Oreal, Garnier, and more expensive shampoos like Redken and Function of Beauty. They didn't do anything for my hair that was dry. My Indian hair is slightly wavy and sometimes straight depending on what I use as well as the environmental factors (moisture, humidity, etc.). There were stressful changes in my life, and along with a lot of other factors my hair started to change its texture. My strands were drying up and they just didn't look the same and luscious when I styled my hair. The wave patterns sometimes would seem more crinkled. I'd say it's medium thickness. I don't seek volumizing products, because they further dry up the hair. I have short hair. I also have a bit of a sensitive scalp. And products made for scalps can also dry up the hair. I randomly picked up the travel size version of this shampoo. At first, I didn't know what to think of it. On later uses, I tried using a little more shampoo than before, I think that's the trick. Usually, other shampoos are full of lathering agents such as sulfates (I don't think it's a bad thing), but this shampoo is more gentle, so more is needed for my hair to get it clean. I usually don't like gentle shampoos, because they can tangle up my hair. But this Shea Hydration shampoo was absolutely wonderful. It genuinely brought back the lusciousness in my hair that I was missing for months! I am not always a fan of the tropical/coconuty smell, but this scent is bearable. It kind of smells like fresh coconut milk, not the stronger coconut oil smell. So it's okay. I'd prefer the scent to be reduced, but honestly it doesn't bother me as absolutely love how nourishing this product is. I must say that while the shampoo & conditioner's scent is all right, the leave-in conditioner is definitely way more scented, and it needs to be toned down. My ultimate opinion: PLEASE don't change the formula of this shampoo like every other brand has been doing. This is a gorgeous hair product, and works amazingly for ethnically diverse hair types. Living in a humid area with large starter locs in fine 4c hair, it's been hard to find something that holds my retwists for more than a day or so. Lock It Up is the first I've bought that does last a bit longer than other brands I've tried. But I think I need something a little bit stronger. This is the best product for locks. I have tried bees wax and other product for locks but it does not hold as well and the product buildup with these product is visible. Tight Hold does not leave residue visible product. I highly recommend this product for locked hair. Also, it helps to wash your hair first and then apply Tight Hold.Gary B.
I have searched everywhere for a product like this!! I’ve been loc’d for about 5 months now & nothing held my hair!! I mean nothing some would last an hour most never went past a day!! But this!!? It’s been 5 days already & I still have A LOT OF HOLD!!! I love this so much! I plan on getting the huge jar when I run out. The Hold me down gelle is my go to styler for my wash and go styles. I have 3C/4A high porosity color-treated fine strand dense curly hair (whew!) and this styler gives me the elongation hold and definition for 5 days with minimal touch ups. My hair gets more voluminous each day while maintaining its definition which I love! Day 4 is my favorite because it’s the perfect happy medium for volume and definition for me. This gives me hold similar to wetline extreme gel but without the dryness!!! No flaky residue even for Touch ups. Formula has great Slip btw.Chloé S.
Hi I don't normally write reviews but when something is as good as this gel there needs to be recognition. I was gifted this gel about 4 months ago it didn't really appeal to me but I was in a rush to get to work after washing my hair and couldn't find my regular gel. Long story short, I use the gel last minute on soaking wet hair and no leave in conditioner (I'm 100% natural 4c by the way) and to my surprise not only was my hair moisturized and soft but lasted 4 days straight without reapplying. I am shocked and amazed. I wish I can give more than 5 stars.🤩
I stumbled across the Green Apple & Aloe Miracle Hold Gel online, while searching for a replacement for the Passion Fruit Curl Control product I had used for years. It was getting hard to find and stores would only have 1 or 2 on the shelves or none at all. It also seemed to make my hair come out, but it was the best I could find but began to use it less and less, and just wore wigs. When I saw the Taliah Waajid line, I was pleasantly surprised and ordered it. I liked the "No parabens, sulfates, phthalates silicon, synthetic dyes, mineral oil, animal use, alcohol, gluten or GMO" in the description. I also liked the oils it used: Castor oil, aloe vera, olive fruit and nut oils and vitamins which were in its ingredients list. Well, the result is 5 stars for my 4c very hard to hold hair!!! Past products caked or hardened, and most of all, broke off my hair and mid day, flyaways sprang up and the product melted down my face. This gel is hands down the best one ever. I feel confident I won't look weird at the end of the day, and it STAYS FLAT ALL DAY!!! Thank you!

During the winter time, I protect my natural hair with wigs to give my tresses a break from braids and wash and go’s. I recently bought a wavy human hair wig that will frizz with too much friction so my sister recommended this foaming mousse! This smells absolutely fantastic and a little goes a long way. It is however very sticky and will leave your hair a bit crunchy (think early 2000s middle school hand scrunch crunch), if you use too much. For the price and fl oz, this is a great buy and highly recommend for those who are using rod curls or styles, or just need to add a little shine and bounce to your curls!kareen.j
I bought this product from Walmart. It is a super inexpensive product that works great for doing twist outs on my 4a/4b curls! I have so many products for my curly hair but this has really gave me the results I want with my twist outs! It can be used for so many other setting hairstyles such as rod set or flexi rod sets. When I put it on my hair it truly brings out my curls and waves. Im going to attempt to do a slicked back pony tail with all my waves using this product! This product is a great start to doing protective styles cause it works and is inexpensive. Who wants to buy all those expensive products just to find out they dont workdemetrice.m
