I actually really liked the way this product made my hair look. I was going for the silver/lavender color so it was perfect. Although, it didn't last long so I was using it about 2-3 times per week for the recommended amount of time in the instructions. I used it for a little over a month. I did notice my hair was getting dry and over time there was more and more hair in the shower drain after washing. I did conditioning treatments between uses thinking this would help but it didn't. My hair then started looking and feeling thinner. The next thing I knew there was a slight bald patch on the crown of my head. I panicked and stopped use immediately. After just 2 weeks of not using this product I can already tell my hair is healthier and there is no more hair coming out in the shower or my brush. Im not saying this will happen to everyone as there are plenty of good reviews on here. But if you notice that its drying out your hair or causing any breakage STOP USE immediately!! … can turn hair light purple if used too often. I highlight my hair very light and hate to see any tones of gold or red and I've tried multiple purple shampoos that can be very drying. This one is not as bad as the others in terms of drying my hair but it turns the lightest pieces lavender. I don't know if this happens to everyone but for me it did so I find that I don't use this for every shampoo and I suggest for people who do highlight their hair very blonde they shouldn't wash their hair too often because it's drying. I find that when I switch between this and a good clarifying shampoo, my color lasts longer without getting brassy and I just watch how long I keep it on the front really light pieces. I did use a nice, strong moisturizing conditioner after trying the purple shampoo, as I felt it was rather drying and I didn’t want to damage my hair in any way. My hair used to be blonde but has become somewhat darker and more brassy with age. I was pleased with the way this shampoo worked to remove the brassy tones from my dark blonde hair. I can imagine it would work even more effectively on lighter blonde and platinum hair shades. A friend of mine has lovely silver hair, and she was the first one to mention purple shampoos to me – which is what got me interested in trying them to see what effect they would have. Ulta had it on sale for half off, and I just wanted to try something different than my usual stuff. My hair is light brown with blonde highlights so this helps give the highlights more shine and depth. My hair literally gleams when the sun hits it. I love this stuff and can't get enough of it! my 3rd bottle already and it's the only purple shampoo I trust for my blonde highlights! Loooove the smell especially! it's not a drying formula unlike any other purple shampoos I tried which is also another major plus. What I do is I dampened the hair slightly with just a lil bit of water then I squeeze a good amount on my palm (more than they recommend on the bottle) and place it all over my blonde highlights. I leave it on for 30-45 mins and then properly rinse it. The shampoo is constantly leaking out of the top of the lid. Every time I get in the shower, every other product even remotely near it is covered in a purple layer of shampoo. I should have caught the red flag when every other bottle in store was leaking and I thought I had found the one bottle that wasn’t leaking. Conditioner doesn’t have same issue… I wonder why. I feel like I’ve lost half the bottle by it just leaking out. Product could be vastly improved by putting it in a bottle that does its’ job.Disappointed

I have colored hair so it tends to get brassy overtime in the highlights, with just ONE wash it toned the highlights right back to their beautiful tone they should be and left my hair feeling healthy and soft. I am told by my stylist that I have fine hair but a lot of it. I was noticing that I was losing what looked like a lot of hair to me in the shower and in my brushes. I tried some different shampoos and conditioners and none seemed better than the others. I was having a particular problem with tangles when my hair was wet. I have very hard water so that is probably part of the issue. My sister has amazing hair, she grows it down to her waist and donates it to a wigs for kids program. She uses this shampoo and conditioner even though she doesn't color her hair so I tried it and it is working great for me. Detangles, my hair looks healthy, and I see less coming out in the shower and brushes. I use the shampoo and conditioner together every other day. On the in-between day I get it wet and just use a little conditioner from around where a low ponytail would be to the ends for detangling. I thought the fragrance was too strong at first but have gotten used to it now. I have tried many shampoos for my bleached blonde hair. This shampoo works amazing on my dry brittle hair. I personally think it works way better than Opalex. This shampoo leaves my hair silky, smooth and doesn't fade my colored hair either. While Opalex made my hair feel like straw hair. I highly recommend this shampoo if you want silky smooth hair. My hair has gotten extremely damaged from using OGX products that currently have a class action lawsuit against them for formaldehyde, cancer causing ingredients & instead of moisturizing & repairing it's drying it from the inside out, causing horrible damage you didn't see starting, until you have a ton of broken hair & even HAIR LOSS!! My hair last year was long to my belt loops. We thought was this because of coloring? Stopped coloring it last year, it's been growing out for awhile. Then for my last "trim" it turned into a chop because I've had really long hair over a decade & never has my hair looked or felt like this. Now my hair is right above my shoulders. I was doing my research on products before my haircut knowing after I cut it, I'm never using OGX products again even though I had 2 brand new large bottles. I received this product in exchange for a review. This product works pretty well but not out of the ballpark amazing. I am 6 months pregnant right now and currently have a hard time keeping up on my platinum blonde hair. That being said thai product is pretty concentrated and does it's job pretty well for the ends of my hair that are still very much blonde. I really don't like the smell of this shampoo I think it is overwhelmingly resemblance of being in a salon and am pretty glad the scent does not continue far beyond the rinse. As for if it improved my hair structure I would say I didn't see any improvement there at all but I still have a full bottle despite using it daily. The yellow tone though is pretty much gone though. I would recommend it if it were drastically price cut because the price tag associated with this product is way too high in my opinion I've used other products under 10 dollars with the same results that you can easily pick up at your local store.Hefaroni26

I know the going trend is purple/grey platinum blonde, which I don't think this would be the best for, but if u want to keep your warmth without being brassy, this works better than any purple shampoos I've used. I have a lot of Irish heritage, pale skin and eyes, lots of light freckling in sun touched spots and firey red and gold inside my naturally brown follicles that shines very brightly in sun light. The warmth has become more pronounced with age and even the stripes of brunette that are left untouched after doing lightening balayage are a redening chestnut/auburn. the warm blonde really compliments my coloring so I'm not complaining, I just don't want it to be too yellow or too brassy. all of the other purple shampoos I have tried made my hair look almost green, even redken which I read was specifically recommended by experts for warm blondes, and it didn't matter how quick I rinsed it out after applying,, it clashed with my hair coloring so badly.. I hated it. I was so thrilled to try this and find it actually worked perfectly, no brassy-ness or ugly yellow, just perfectly golden honey warm blonde and auburn/chestnut. I love ash blonde and the purple tinted platinum but this happy accident of a warm hair color works better on me than I'd have imagined and I'm so thrilled to find a way to maintain it. idk about it being drying like some others said, I've found all purple shampoos to be a little drying, I assumed because they lather so well and also I do a pre-wash so there's no product impeding it. having color treated hair, I always add lots of super conditioning products, hydraters and proteins treatments before I'm done on wash day and also being a warm blonde, I only use purple shampoo once a month, preferably when it's time for a clarifying cleanse and I do an oil treatment the night before. I tried to get a pic of the hair but it doesn't do justice and I gtg but u get an idea. also thanks to quarantine, I haven't had any coloring in a year.SNikic

I have NEVER had issues with shampoo/conditioner up until buying this. I have tried many different cheap shampoo/conditioners, and decided to splurge a little on this product after seeing some hairstylists on social media recommend this brand. Unfortunately I have similar experiences as other low reviews on this product. I have noticed that I am shedding a LOT more hair than normal in the shower. I have also noticed after 1-2 weeks of use that my hair has started to feel greasy and heavy. It almost feels like the product did not get washed out of my hair. At first I thought maybe this was my fault that I didn’t rinse it out well. But last night I made sure to do a thorough job rinsing out my hair, and woke up with my hair the greasiest it’s ever looked after a wash. I’ve never had a product do this to my hair. I’ve finally found the culprit for the damage my hair has been experiencing over the past few months. I first raised an eyebrow when my stylist pointed out dandruff, which I’ve never had before. I attributed this to buildup from dry shampoo, but after reading these reviews I now know that these products have caused the buildup and flakes. I’ve also lost a TON of hair. My hair is usually thick and full of body, but now I have to use tons of dry shampoo and styling tools to get it to look presentable. I wanted to love this brand and especially this product, but I can't. Everything was fine until about 2 weeks in to using the shampoo and conditioner. My scalp first started getting dry and itchy, which has never been a problem for me. About 3 weeks in, excessive amounts of hair started coming out when I washed or brushed my hair. My hair wasn't falling out in clumps, but it was more than normal, causing me to be concerned about the cause. About 1 month in, there was a lot of dandruff, irritation on my scalp, and parts of my scalp were getting crusty, almost like a had massive dandruff buildup. I want to preface this that I have never had any of these problems with other brands, including other inexpensive brands, high end brands, and custom shampoo. I used other Kristin Ess product including the scalp scrub, detangler, and the scalp every day conditioner. I stoped using these products and stuck with just the shampoo and conditioner to see if my symptoms improved. My symptoms continued to worsen and I realized that it was the shampoo and conditioner causing all of my problems. I even showed my hairdresser and she thought that the brand was good because it claims to be vegan and and lacks bad ingredients. There is something in these products that caused all of my symptoms and is not good at least for my hair type. I would strongly encourage using another brand to avoid dealing with the symptoms I experienced. I am not saying you will have the same problems, but for me, it was awful. About a week ago, I decided I wanted to dye my hair. I bought bleach and developed and started bleaching my hair. It did not go well. The next day, I went back to the store, looking for something to fix my at home bleach fail. I warmed up to my weird brassy orangeish yellow, so I decided I would stay blonde for a while, but I definitely want lighter hair. I bought the Violet crush shampoo and the conditioner, along with more bleach to fix some still very dark spots in my hair. After bleaching the dark spots out, turning them a weird light yellow, I washed my hair with this shampoo. I only left it in for a minute and it already made my hair look better and the color more even. Today, I decided to leave the shampoo in my hair for five minutes and I can see the difference. The lighter parts of my hair look better now. I'd definitely recommend using the Violet crush conditioner after the shampoo, though. I received free samples of the JOHN FRIEDA Violet Crush Purple Shampoo & Conditioner from PINCHMe to review. I don’t have blonde hair so I gave this to a blonde haired friend to try out. Here’s what she had to say: Shampoo lathered well and very few tangles after conditioning. It did turn down the brassiness without making my hair look too ash blonde. I think for the price point it holds its own. I don’t like it as well as some similar shampoos and conditioners sold in salons, but I do like the price point! What I dislike: I was underwhelmed by the smell not a whole lot to it. One day after use my hair does feel a little more weighed down and more oily then normal. I wish this had existed decades ago. I'm a natural brunette who has been every color in the rainbow and has fought unwanted reddish orange undertones. I'm 51 and have been coloring my hair since 13. I hate most Ash boxed dyes as they are harsh looking. I recently bleached out several years of black dude from my now salt and pepper hair, suffered with a too light for me blonde because of damage, and was finally able to get to a dark ash blonde only to see it become orangey after a week. Enter this shampoo. I lathered up, let it sit while I washed and shaved, rinsed, conditioned and dried my hair. It looked amazing! And it felt great too! I never really write reviews unless I believe in the product. And let me tell you I've only used this product for one day and absolutely love it! I'm usually a Redken frizz dismiss person but I figured I would try something new based on the reviews. I ran out of redken during this quarantine and ended up having to use drug store shampoo for awhile until I got my order. My hair was so dry and stringy and hard to brush because of it. I couldn't wait to use the shampoo and conditioner to relief my hair and it was so instantaneous!! As soon as I rinsed out the conditioner my hair felt so quenched and smooth! When I dried it out (only with a blow dryer and brush!) my hair was so soft and easy to run my fingers through. It never got tangled and I honestly couldn't stop touching my hair. Wow!! This is the best purple shampoo I have ever used. I just had my hair bleached again and my stylist recommended this shampoo to me. When i used it, I accidentally left it on a couple minutes more than the recommended 2-3 minutes and I was terrified it was going to be a disaster. I have a bayalage with my natural dark warm blonde at the top/middle fading into very bleached hair. Anyone who has had their hair like this knows your natural hair won't change tone like the bleached hair will, and I've had purple shampoos leave me with a mess of warm dark blonde with super grey/silver on the lighter parts, with muddiness and patchiness until I washed it a couple more times. After rinsing and drying my hair, I saw that while it did remove the warmth from my bleached ends and highlights, somehow it melted all the shades together beautifully and there is no patchiness between the differing shades. This is a winner and I doubt I'll change to another purple shampoo now that I've found this. Definitely give it a try if you're looking for a really high quality purple shampoo!Emily

I am no stranger to blue/purple toning shampoo and this one is great! Some other toning shampoos I have used either didn’t work well at all or they worked too well! The directions for this said to leave the shampoo on for 3-5 minutes. I always use caution when applying toning shampoo especially the first time as I’ve turned my hair purple before. Three minutes was all I needed! This took all the brass out of my hair! The color looked incredible so clean and crisp like I had just left the salon. My stylist was impressed with how great it made my color look after using these products! So I went to a salon and my goal is to do a black to silver to white Ombre hair color. After the second round of bleach I was recommended this shampoo to neutralize the yellow blonde and achieve and maintain the silver color until we do the next round. I was using it in the shower and leaving it on for 5 minutes, not seeing much result. My hair was still pretty blonde and I was disappointed. But! I was scrolling around on Youtube and came across a Brad Mondo video where he was reacting to people bleaching their hair and saw someone who applied the shampoo like a dye and left it on to tone their hair and I thought, okay, worth a try. And it worked amazingly! I coated the blonde hair very thoroughly and left it on for 20 minutes and proceeded to wash it out, blow dry, and throw some leave in conditioner in. Blonde is now mostly gone and it left me with a beautiful silver/gray color. I plan on doing this a few more times until I see no more blonde. 🙂Lou

When I initially tried to submit this review I had given at three stars. I had an issue with the app and have used the shampoo several times since and now I would like to give it four stars. The worst thing about the shampoo is that your hands can really get stained if you don’t wet them and preferably put lotion or something on them to create a barrier. The blue really stains. Other than that, it does give a nice toning color to hair that looks brassy, and my hair is nice and smooth when I use the shampoo. This shampoo lives up to its name! Very impressed. I used Redken long ago but it’s been years since I purchased the brand since I’m always trying new and innovative products. When I received this High Bright line the timing couldn’t have been better and my hair is very light blonde, and I’ve been working hard to combat it becoming brassy from mineral deposits in my well water. Initially I thought this shampoo would have a tint (I assumed blue/purple toning element) so I was surprised to see this was clear. The consistency is thick like a jelly but with major slip. It’s quite a different feeling, but it suds up very well on my scalp. I only wash my hair twice per week so it does get quite greasy but fortunately this cuts through that even without a double wash. I can tell when rinsing out my hair feels smooth even before conditioning to seal everything. The scent is also so delicious- almost like a unisex almost a light cologne scent but not too masculine. I’m combination with the High Bright conditioner, after washing drying and styling as normal I can say that my hair is softer and shinier than it has been in a very long time! Like so shiny it’s what I have been desperately looking for in a product. I’m not sure of the ingredients that make my hair look light and bright, but it is effective and leaves it with a super clean feel (no weight). Will definitely repurchase when I run out. I’ll start by saying I have used many Redken products in the past and I have always been very impressed with this line. It’s also one of the more affordable professional salon brands out there and I highly recommend the brand overall! When I first tried this shampoo I used it in conjunction with the pre treatment spray and conditioner. Using all three of these products together definitely gave the best results! I also used this shampoo without the pre treatment and it still gave a good brightness to my blonde on its own!At first I expected this to be a purple toning shampoo, especially based on the color of the bottle but this in NOT a purple toning shampoo! However this does help to cut brass tones just the same way purple toning shampoos do. The difference is that this does a lot more than just tone! It brightens the blondes and keeps it healthy, shiny and not dried out or hard to manage! I think this is a great shampoo for regular use on blondes since it does keep it healthy and manageable. Unlike purple toning shampoos that should be used less frequently in blonde hair as causes the hair to be dry and frizzy if used too frequently. Just like the High Bright pre-treatment and shampoo, this conditioner is a stellar product! I’m so happy Influenster sent this to me otherwise I may not have tried this line. I was a big Redken fan years ago, but have just wanted to try so many other big lines and new products that I hadn’t gone back to Redken. These products used together are absolutely effective and love you to the claim of bight blonde results. My community well water leaves trace mineral deposits that full my hair and also make it feel brittle, so when I go to my hair girl every 12 weeks she works hard to bleach and tone me (my ends especially) to brighten me up again. I’m a level 9/10, so any products that help are a big plus. What I love about this product is not only the beautiful package and lovely unisex scent, but this conditioner has no toning elements it’s white not blue/purple, and it’s thick like a mask instead of a typical conditioner. I apply after shampooing and let sit for 5-10 minutes while I finish up my shower and rinse out right at the end. Oh my gosh this not only makes my hair look bright and shiny, but My hair is so so soft and smooth. I’m shocked. My hair is softer than it has been in a very long time, even though I use other prestigious hair care products that claim to hydrate. My ends especially need extra moisture and wow do they look great. Regardless if I heat style or air dry, my hair looks smooth with less frizz than before, and so soft. I’m obsessed! I have been using the Unite 7 Seconds leave in conditioner for a few years. Normally I purchase it at a local salon but found this deal on Groupon so I decided to give it a try. It does not smell right. In fact, it smells pretty terrible. I m not sure if it is a counterfeit product or just sat on a shelf too long but it is definitely not the same as the product I purchased in the salon. Unfortunately there are no refunds/exchanges on this product so I may just throw it away because if it s not the real deal, I m not sure what it might do to my hair. Big bummer.

I have very fine hair that is highlighted. After washing my hair with Boosta shampoo and conditioner, I spritz this on. Great results with volume and beachy waves that hold. Docked a star because the smell is a bit strong on the harsher side – almost like pickles! It doesn't seem to make my hair smell but it's a bit rough when it is sprayed. The most important thing to know about this masque is something at least 2 hairdressers have told me to do. Leave some of this product in your hair! Don’t rinse it all out! It makes your hair beautifully shiny and glorious, not stiff or dull the way other conditioners would if you didn’t rinse them out. This is the way they were taught to use it by a Framesi rep years ago. So…very lightly rinse, then comb out with a mixture of water and the masque still in your hair. The shampoo provides some brightness to my highlights which have turned a bit brassy. I love that it is infused with cica, rice water and quinoa protein to help strengthen my strands and repair damage. I also love that you only leave it on for 2 to 3 minutes. It has a nice clean sent that I do appreciate. There’s only one downfall to the Shampoo for me. With that said, I will say that I have very tight curls with very dry hair. I could tell after one use the different in my strands as far as they felt fuller softer and a lot stronger too. I have already purchased my own and is in its way in the mail as we speak. But I can’t say enough about the shampoo seriously the strength added to my hair after using and the toning feature was amazing. I have different depths of blonde and I felt that this made those lighter money pieces that perfect icy I’ve been looking for + strengthening in other product and only found here. Others I have to use separate product .. with moraccanoil u get it all in one tube!! Smell is beautiful the product color is rich purple and it won’t leave ur hair heavy or with residue. But clean and healthy feeling. I used as shampoo then rinsed … swueeze out all water from hair with hands and reapply from front hair line back to ur ends and massage thru without sudsing up the product and leave set for 10/15 minutes depending on how porous ur hair is. (Do this for more toning effect) Mines was needing toned again and is pretty porous so I left in longer… but not too long. Anyhow I’d recommend to anyone who has chemically treated and or damaged hair needing give it some TLC. Price is fair considering other brand and they dint work as well as this one trust me.. I’ve wasted a lot of money trying to find the right ones to maintain my blond locks!! Also I left my conditioner in for about 5minutes too. But my hair is very dry of course. I think this is the combo for me! Today is my first day using the Moroccanoil Purple Shampoo and the Moroccanoil Purple Conditioner, and here's my thoughts: Both the shampoo and conditioner have a rich purple color, which is nice since most conditioners I've tried in the past are much lighter in color compared to their shampoo counterpart. Both smell really nice, too. I left the shampoo in for about 5 minutes, rinsed, and then I left the conditioner in for probably 5+ minutes before I rinsed with cold water. This is the best toning combination I've ever tried. After one use, I can definitely tell the difference in less brassiness. I wouldn't recommend leaving both products in as long as I did, however – I purposely did so to see if I could get a dramatic result, and a few strands have a very light violet/gray tone to them, which I love! I will definitely be buying both the shampoo and conditioner soon since I think both will help keep my hair healthy and a nice shade of blondechopper923

It has got rich, creamy and lathering texture, don’t need to use a lot of product and it lathers through the hair well. The colour is brightly deep purple and pigmented. The scent feels a bit strong during washing but after washing and through the day hair smell nice, refreshed and fragrance is mild. After washing hair is easy to brush but once hair is dry combing is a bit harder, hair feels dry and like straws therefore it causes some hair breakage. There is much difference in hair tone, hair looks much brighter, shiner, radiant, lighter and improved in colour. On the second day hair still feels clean and fresh in scent, however I have noticed that this shampoo dries out hair and strips off it’s natural moisture. Another minus for this product that it stains under nails and some dry skin areas which takes time to wash off. I would not use this product frequently but occasionally (once a week or once in two weeks). I wanted to try blue toning shampoo and bought the trial sizes to give this a shot. I have always used purple and saw very little results. I read the directions very quickly, I didn't use gloves and I used a white towel to try my hair. I didn't even think of the blue color that was deposited into my hair I used this product for the first time yesterday and all I can say is WOW! I did see blue everywhere but it didn't stain my shower, hands, nails or my towels. My highlights looked brighter and I think I even saw more of them and I was impressed with just one use. The smell was nice but I thought it was too strong but once you dry your hair the smell disappears. Not sure if I will use this shampoo more than maybe once or twice a week because I don't want to darken my highlight I just want to see less brass and red. If you are hesitant to try this product because of the blue color you could use gloves and I would definitely use it in the shower so that the product washes out once it hits the floor you could even keep a brush in your shower if you want to make sure no blue residue lingers behind. All toning shampoos have color the purple once I used before does and I never had an issue. Everyone's experience is different but I would definitely give this product a try.Tophersmom

I haven't changed anything in my hair care routine except this. The first time I used it, meh it did the job and made my hair a lot brighter. Mind you I only use this twice a month because purple shampoo is so harsh. The second time I used this, HOLY DRYNESS. It literally sucked every bit of moisture out of my hair and turned my hair silver, which was fine, but I looked like a hag due to the frizz. I've never experienced such harshness from a product. I've had to completely reset my hair by not putting any heat or this shampoo on my hair for a month. It ruined my hair for my graduation and I couldn't be anymore disappointed in this product. Not to mention it doesn't lather at all and I felt like I had to use a ton of it to clean my hair. This product really does reverse brassy tones, but it isn't worth sucking all the moisture out of your hair.Anamolly

This shampoo from Redken smells amazing. To me it smells like a soft cologne scent. This shampoo looks so cool..it is purple. The product felt soft on my hands and in my hair. It does say to appy wearing gloves but I did not wear gloves. The shampoo did not stain my hands. My hair is very yellow blonde and very warm tone and this shampoo did work. After I blowed dried my hair I could see that my hair was a bit more cooler blonde and the yellow and brassiness was tone downed. I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 because I wish when washing my hair the shampoo foamed more. It did not create that soapy shampoo feeling and that kinda made me use more product because I wanted to make sure I got my hair cleaned and had the shampoo everywhere. I also wished this shampoo was vegan but I dont believe it is. Redken does offer some vegan products though. Overall I'm really pleased with this shampoo and will continue to use it.danielle .l

I bought this as I used to love the Blue Malva shampoo and conditioner, but that was only available in large sizes which was too costly for me. I was excited to buy this as I have used Aveda products in the past and loved them. This was a treat as it's more than I would usually spend. I used it for the first time yesterday and it's left my hair feeling absolutely full of grease. I have tried rinsing it again but made it even worse and it also looks like it's still wet (though it can't be). I have now been at work for the day with hair that feels like someone has poured cooking oil over it. I am so disappointed and actually embarrassed that my hair looks so awful. I think the only thing that I can do is to shampoo it out with a different brand of shampoo. I am so upset also that I have wasted hard earned cash on the shampoo and conditioner and all I can do is throw it away. So very disappointed and feel let down by what I consider to be a premium brand.VegasCrazy10

My stylist gave me some of this to try since you discontinued Blue Malva. It's terrible! As others have said – no lather to speak of and leaves a filmy residue. After I dried my hair, it just hung there, lank with no wave to speak of. I'm older, have light, honey blond hair that has natural wave and open cuticles. This took away all the personality of my hair and left a sad, straight mess. I immediately got back in the shower, used the Cherry Almond softening shampoo first, then some Be Curly and things were much better. I threw the Blonde Revival away and will never use that again. I just hate that Aveda has been discontinuing all the heritage shampoos. I've been an Aveda customer since 1988. Those of us who are long-term customers of Aveda came for a reason. One of those was the aromatherapy aspect of the products. Basically, if it smelled awesome, it was a good chemical balance for you and your hair, and I found that to be very true. I used the Madder Root shampoo for decades and then switched to Scalp Benefits when Madder Root was discontinued. I truly loved the Madder Root – the scent was incredible and made me happy. It treated my hair beautifully. Scalp Benefits was fine – I did love the cinnamon and burdock in it – but it's changed. It's runny instead of rich, doesn't have the excellent spicy smell, and leaves my hair too dry. So I switched to my husband's Clove alternating with Blue Malva. The Clove is the closest any shampoo has come to that lovely Madder Root smell and performance. And now that's gone as well. Down to just Cherry Almond now. Here's what I hate about pretty much any of the new shampoos Aveda brings out – the scent! The entire reason for going to Aveda (which is not an inexpensive line of products) used to be the aromatherapy. The range of scents were balanced so people could find the right product for their chemistry. Now almost all of them smell like citronella candles which just brings me down and leaves me feeling queasy.Jan

The many negative reviews left me skeptical about using this product. But my own very positive experience has led me to think that the critics may not have used the shampoo correctly. In particular their frustration in using a non sudsing shampoo may have resulted in using an excessive amount. The liquidLy nature of the product does not lend itself to massaging it into the hair. I t worked for me to apply the shampoo to the hair and then distribute it with a wide-toothed comb. After about 3 minutes, I applied a few drops of Rosemary Mint Shampoo and rinsed it thoroughly. Thus I achieved my aim to tone down the yellow of my heavily highlighted front hairs and to blend these in with the grey regrowth of hairs in the back. The new platinum blond is beautiful. I used Brilliance Condition to create shiny and moist hair.Jeanie
