Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair And Allergies (2024 Update)

I have several robot vacuums and I can absolutely recommend this one, it cleans well and the navigation is also really good. I'm also going to talk about something that isn't common because my situation is unique. I'm a blind person and can't read print. I use an Iphone which has a built in screen reader called Voiceover which allows a person to use the touch screen if they can't see it. Basically, it allows you to touch anywhere on the screen and hear the item that you have touched, or you can swipe a finger left and right to move through the items on the screen. To activate the item that was spoken, you double tap anywhere on the screen. Depending on how apps are designed, some applications will read better than others. The Eufy home app works really well with Voiceover. I had no problem creating an account and setting up my robot. I also have no problem sending the bot out to clean or changing its settings. The main setting I wanted to change was to set the cleaning power to the highest setting, I figure if the robot has the power, why not use it? The one thing I can't do is use the features that require you to draw on the map but that's the way it is with all robot vacuums, there is no way to speak that kind of information. I always prefer to clean my entire place so for me this is not a concern. This is a great robot vacuum and I could not be happier with it.Mike A.

I was skeptical that a battery powered vacuum could get results similar to a regular corded vac. I was right. It picks up surface stuff fairly well but is no substitute for a real vacuum. Having said that, we do find it very useful for cleaning up pet hair. We leave it to run in a room when we are gone and the receptacle has a good amount of dist and hair in it. It keeps the carpet a little cleaner between vacuuming. The sweeping pattern is totally random and it tends to stay in one spot for a long time before moving on. When it encounters an obstacle it does an almost full turn and collides with the same object. If you leave it in one small room. block off the areas under dressers and such that it tends to get lodged under, it's handy enough. Our side sweeper brush motor burned out after four months and I read that it should be taken out and cleaned regularly. This is not mentioned in the instructions. For this much money you can buy a mid-range upright which I would recommendSteveC

My house is a 2217 square foot house and its floors are over 75% carpet which requires good vacuuming considering there are small children and a wide layout of rooms on both floors which necessitates a robot vacuum on each floor to ensure deep cleaning on carpets to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt. This Robot Shark IQ has a high level of absorption leaving a great job in its wake. The ground floor has a large dining room, office, bathroom, laundry room, kitchen and hallway areas that require good vacuuming and I have noticed that even with all of that, it has mapped it out super well in just 3 cycles. , and has started off in a different direction each time, obviously looking to complete the map and is doing an excellent job so far. He has had no problem returning to his "mother ship" to unload when needed and picking up where he left off. Run time on most tile and carpet floors can be approximately 90 minutes, including 1 or 2 round trips to unload. After loading, it will come back out and pick up where it left off, just as you'd expect. On the second floor there are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the work is repeated in the same way with an impeccable finish due to its powerful suction level… it is a great appliance that saves us time and we can program it to clean without us being at home. My 3rd Shark Robot A few years ago I bought a Shark ION RV750 robovac on eBay and was blown away by what a good job it did, so I purchased a Shark R85 on the next Prime Day, but was disappointed as it seemed it wasn't an upgrade, if anything it performed a little worse (it was slightly taller so it didn't fit under as many items of furniture), but it still did an excellent job. So moving into a tri-level home, I knew I wanted to get one more, but was torn between getting another 750 (which I knew worked well – and it's still going strong to this day!) or if I wanted to splurge and get the IQ Self-Empty. The appeal of being able to map and then determine which rooms were to be vacuumed was a big appeal as I've got two teens and their rooms aren't always robovac friendly. I also really liked the idea of not having another robovac to empty daily. We have 3 cats and a dog – along with allergies, so daily vacuuming is a must – and it's always a full bin. I considered the Roomba i7+ and i9+, but figured that I'd already had such a good experience with Shark that I'd stick with what I know works, and works well. So I decided to give the IQ a try. I'm already blown away! It's exceeded my expectations and it hasn't even completed the mapping process yet. As always, set up was a breeze. It's only ran a few times, but I can already tell a difference between it and the 750 that was previously on the top floor. I have a Shark Apex vacuum and the carpets are closer to that level of clean than the ION 750 which is astounding. Unlike my other two robovacs, it sets out and vacuums row by row with an impressive amount of precision. It does, as expected, fail to get debris in compact corners (for example the 4 inches of wall between the dresser and the doorway). It's ability to navigate around items, but then remember exactly where it left off once it has gone around, cleaned and returns to that spot, is equally impressive. The precision in which it finds the dock and loads in unlike the other two robovacs, albeit, I don't give it the suggested space around the dock (all three versions do just fine docking even with minimal surrounding open space). When it self-empties, it is loud, but not any more so than how a normal household vacuum sounded about 20 years ago, and it only lasts for about a minute, if that. I love this little robovac so much that I could see myself replacing the other two older ones with this model in the next year or so. Let me be clear, emptying the bins daily isn't bad at all. It's that the only trash wide enough to easily ensure none of the dust or debris go into the air or on the surrounding ground is the kitchen trash – and that's assuming no one's loaded up the trash to almost being full, and while most of the time, I'll go dump the bins in large trash, if I'm running out the door or in the middle of something else, I do tend to just go to the nearest trash can – which makes a small mess (although much less messy than not having the floors clean at all!).Ashlie

We’ve owned other robot vacuums and it’s very apparent the difference in quality, performance and advanced features with this Shark IQ Robot. The vacuum is very thoroughly at cleaning every nook and cranny. It can transition easily from hardware floors to rugs. There are blocking strips that are included if you don’t want it to go in certain areas such as cords or fringe materials. It does a good job of getting out of a spot that it can get stuck in. I was very impressed that it would maneuver on and off the base of our bar stools. It will get under beds, sofas and tables as long as there is clearance. I would highly recommend downloading the Shark Clean app so the robot can map your house and you can control, monitor and schedule to have it automatically start cleaning or you can turn it off and it will return back to the charging dock. So cute! The best part is the self emptying function that will empty all the debris each time it returns to the base. The only negative feedback is that it is very loud when it performs the self emptying function, but at least you know that it is working. We don’t wear shoes in the house and like to vacuum every few days to pick up any dust and dirt which is very noticeable and enjoyable. This is well worth the price.saleetah

I figured I would give this a try. Few things, this does not have mapping, so I couldn't set up a schedule to send it to a specific area of the house each day. It doesn't get as stuck as I hear others do but it isn't a seamless clean. The slight banging against walls, furniture, cabinets was irritating and it isn't loud but it isn't quiet either. Personally I can't run it if I am on the phone or trying to focus on a task. However, I ran it once and I thought my house was clean but it had to go back to the dock because the dust bin was full. When I opened it I was appalled. This solidified that I needed something like this. The plus side of this device is that the profile is low enough that it does fit under my entertainment center, couch, dressers and bathroom vanity– areas that I don't dust/sweep regularly. For this reason alone, I can't say enough great things. Our home is all tile 1200 sq ft with 2 small dogs that don't shed a ton but I do have to empty the dust bin every run. It also can't clean the entire house in one charge – it has to go back to to the dock to charge to finish the job. This does not replace vacuuming but it is great to run in the middle of the week to help maintain the house.VonBon

I love this robot vacuum, make my life so much easier.. You don’t know how much dust is in your house until you use one of these. For everyone in the fence of getting one, GET IT! I have had about 3 different models in the past, this one i1 from irobot / Roomba does the job pretty good. The color is different from my previous one this one is a neutral gray/brown color, matches better my walls (aggregable gray) . We just moved to a new house that we recently made some remodeling and there was dust everywhere!. We left the Roomba working during the night, before we moved it, and it did a great job, clean the whole house. The wifi /app is definitely a plus. My older model didn’t had that. Now, any time of the day, I can create at schedule or put it to work form my phone. Noise Level is around the same, maybe slightly lower than the older model , but again, we usually put it work when we are not home or at night. Note: Its compatible with clean base (automatic dirt disposal), so we are definably thing kin getting the base to make the work of cleaning Roomba much easier, according to the manual we would only have to clean it once or tice a month, that is awesome.Oscar

I absolutely adore my new iRobot Roomba i1!!! This robot vacuum has been a game changer for my busy household of 5! I used to sweep/vacuum my house every 2 days, sometimes every day. With small kids and pets in the house, my floors need attention all the time! My Roomba has saved me so much time and energy! Right out of the box, it was easy to set up. I figured out where I wanted the Roomba to be based and plugged in the charging base. Then I put the Roomba on the base to charge. While I was waiting for the Roomba to charge, I downloaded the app and named my Roomba. Her name is Ethel 🙂 Boom! Setup complete! You can start and run the Roomba without the app, but I wanted the full experience, so I opted for the app. The app is pretty easy to use as well. Once I had my Roomba named and went through some minimal registration information, all I had to do is tap a button and the Roomba will vacuum everywhere it has access to. I have run the Roomba several times now, and I am impressed. The first time I ran it, it took over an hour to do my house, but gradually it has gotten more efficient at moving through the house. Now, if the floors aren’t too dirty, it takes less than 45 min. The versatility and flexibility are probably my favorite features. It easily goes over my hardwoods, linoleum and even over my rugs! It knows when it’s at a step, and won’t go over the edge, but easily navigated over the threshold that separates my hardwoods from the linoleum in the kitchen. I have a toddler at home and often when he naps, I clean. So a few times I have closed his door to keep the Roomba from waking him/vacuuming his room him while he’s sleeping. The roomba still goes into his room the next time I give it access and it cleans it well. It recognizes when a floor is more dirty than normal and will go over an area a couple of times to be sure it has gotten the mess. On the app it’s called a ‘dirt event’. My 9 year old has had a few ‘dirt events’ in his room lol! I love how well the Roomba reaches under furniture and in corners! It’s easy to empty the dust bin. Push a button on the outside ring of the Roomba and it swings open for dumping. No mess. The app lets you know how it went when the Roomba gets done with a job. It also lets you know all about any jobs the Roomba runs. You can see how long it ran, if and where any ‘dirt events’ occurred, if the dust bin needs to be emptied, if the Roomba needed to charge in the middle of its job, how much area it covered and you can even see a neat blueprint of the flooring it covered! You can also use the app to set up a cleaning schedule! You can set it to run when it’s most convenient for you! I love my Roomba so much. I didn’t know what I was missing! I've had a few robot vacuums over the past few years. I've tried the big names like Neato D-Vacs / Roombas ($400-$700 range) and I found that while they had great suction power and capacity, their navigation abilities made them useless. All the cleaning power in the world means nothing if your robot vacuum never makes it back to it's base to charge and you're stuck hunting for it to carry it home everyday. I got this Eufy G30 Verge on a special buy price of $169 down from the usual $350, and it absolutely blows all of the other robot vacuums I've tried out of the water. It's very deceiving when you first fire it up since it's extremely thin and makes very little noise. I actually tried feeding it a couple dust bunnies to make sure it was on because it was so quiet. Despite this, 30mins into letting it map my house, I had to empty the dust bin because it was full….. with dust and hair (as seen in the pic)…. that was still on my floor without me being able to see it after manually vacuuming the day before. It ran for about an hour and generated a full map of my 1000 square foot condo before heading back directly to it's dock to charge. You can watch it generate the map using the app, and you can see that it uses that map to navigate your home perfectly. It moved in clean lines and then shot to areas of the condo that had missing boundaries on the map to fill in the data. Its very clear watching this bot move that it's far more intelligent than non-mapping bots, especially those that just bump around forever. SUMMARY The compact and stylish Eufy G30 Verge is the king of navigating homes and always making it back to its dock. While it may lack the power and capacity of some of it's larger robot vacuum rivals such as the Neato D-Bot or Samsung models, it is more than capable of ridding your low-pile carpet and hard floors of hair and dust. Although I wouldn't recommend this for homes with operating areas larger than 1000 square feet or large levels of hair and debris like food, this is the perfect bot vac for areas less than 1000 square feet that is generally clean but you would like to maintain. This isn't a miracle worker that can deep clean your floors, but with a price tag of under $200 it's an absolute steal.Alex

I usually love the brand, Eufy. I have had two now. My first one is the first edition and it lasted a few years before it started to be really loud. It still sucked (literally sucked, not it was bad, sucked), but was too loud. So, I bought this one to replace my old one. I put my old one upstairs and kept this one downstairs. First off, it was a fantastic robot. It sucked everything up really well! It was really quiet and really fast. I keep really good care of everything I own. So, I regularly cleaned the filter and cleaned the wheels and did maintenance on to keep it going good. The warranty ran out at 12 months and at 13-14 months my little robot stopped sucking as well and became really loud. I contacted the Eufy corporate office and they told me a bunch of things to do to help the robot. So, I cleaned everything again and the problem stayed the same. I replied again and they offered me a discount. I explained that I think I might have a faulty one because my other one has lasted for years. Also, I did not want to buy another one for it to stop working at 13 months. They then offered a replacement kit, which contained brushes. I already had bought brand new brushes and I knew that this was not the problem. It stopped sucking up debris, so brushes were not what I needed. I explained all of this to them and they said that there warranty is for 12 months and I can honor the discount and that is all they can do. They and I were very polite to each other, but we just do not agree. I normally only review if an item was good, but I just did not want someone else to buy this and have it not work one to two months after the warranty runs out.CJ

Overall I found that this unit clean the floors and rugs extremely well. Better than my upright. Here are some things I've learned. Even though it is relatively low profile it has gotten stuck under my couch and dresser. However, it does clean in tight areas under furniture given sufficient clearance that I don't normally clean that often. I found that the battery does not last the claimed 90 minutes nor does it know when to return to the charging station when the battery level is low so it just dies wherever. The phone app is unreliable primarily due to losing the wi-fi connection to the unit. I found doing selective room cleaning to be best by closing doors and limiting the area where it cleans. I wouldn't leave it running unattended until you get familiar with where it could get stuck. I would minimize clutter or other items on the floor that it could get caught on such as shoes laces or appliance wires, etc. While not as noisy as my upright, there is a constant sound level that some may find disturbing. One can still talk on the phone while it is running. Hey it has a motor… Navigation looks totally dumb as it will go over the same area a few times, but then one is assured that the area is clean. No matter I am happy with the vacuum as it saves me the time from dragging out the upright and from manually vacuuming. Instead I can be doing other things while it is working away!Mike

So impressed. I am not paid or given a free bot for this review. I researched for 4 months and settled on this model by Shark. I don't know why people are claiming that this robot marks walls it comes close but does not touch them in fact if it sees a object it slows down till it maneuvers around it. Everything advertised it does and does excellent. The app is very easy to use. People complain about the app but I think they are using cheap phones or tablets. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this unit, I watched tests between roombas and eufys and all the the robot vacuums that could self empty at twice to three times the shark was nothing is close. The main thing was all the other company's use Vslam and cameras for guidance they can not see in the dark and basically go in random action like a bump and go toy, Not this Shark that uses lidar which is a invisible rotating Laser for guidance it is perfect and works even in the dark. I had to laugh roombas latest self empty has a white spotlight led mounted above its camera so it can clean without bright sun or the lights on. So you can pay 1400.00 for the vslam spotlight robot or 500.00 for the shark and have 3yr vip warranty with latest tech and row by row cleaning, and individual room cleaning. I also want to point out that after it does a room row by row when it finishes that it goes all the way back around the border of that room. Suction power is excellent on max, but you can choose between eco, norm and max in the app. You can choose to have it go back to empty every 30 minutes and it will go right back where it left off. I never have had it not find the base or had to go find it. I know it can be frustrating when trying to decide on which robot vacuum to buy. Do yourself a favor and buy one if you don't like it they have a 90 Day return policy and the customer service is awesome and they do care.Speedracer

I was so excited to set up and start using my Shark AV2511AE AI Robot Vacuum with XL Self-Empty Base and I was not disappointed. It was easy to set up and charged pretty quickly. It was very easy to download the app and get the Shark working. The Shark will first map your space so it knows where to go each time it cleans. You can set up the Shark to clean on a schedule or you can tell it when to clean using the app. You can even send it out to spot-clean a small area if need be. When the Shark is full, it will automatically return to the base and empty itself in the base. Supposedly you can go 60 days without emptying the base. However, I have three children and a large dog and I do not believe that we can go that long without emptying the tank in the base. Even still, this is so much more convenient than my old robotic vacuum that I had to empty with each use, and often before it was finished vacuuming. Emptying the tank on the base is a breeze. The app will notify you if there is a problem with the Shark, for example, if it gets stuck on an uneven surface, or if something gets caught in the beater bar. There is also a function on the app to locate the Shark if it gets "lost" under a piece of furniture or something, but I have not had to use this function. Of course, the Shark will work best if your house is not cluttered and the floor is thoroughly clear of items such as toys or shoes. It moves easily from my hardwood floors onto my shag rug, and it's relatively quiet. The only con I can think of is that the base needs to be set up in an area with three feet of clearance on all sides. My house is not large and this really limits where we can put the base, but if you have a large house with a lot of open space this won't be an issue. It won't take the place of my regular vacuum for deep cleaning and corner cleaning but overall my house is so much cleaner with the Shark making its rounds regularly. I have owned this Shark for about 6 weeks now. This is kind of a mixed review, as there are some things I like, and some that need lots of improvement…. Starting with the likes.. The Shark is really good when it comes to cleaning, and lack of work I now have to do. I was able to map my house pretty easily, and she remembers everything (I think!). When she goes out to clean, she always does a thorough job, and everything looks clean. I haven’t had any issues with scratched baseboards or furniture – she does bump into things here and there, but no damages or anything. For the way she cleans, and the easiness of having her clean, I would give her a 5-star review……. But that leads me to the dislikes (it’s really one major dislike – but it really ruins everything about the machine)…. The App sucks – mostly when it comes to connecting to, and staying connected to the machine. I have a very strong internet signal at my house, and rarely have issues with any internet-connected items I have. This robot, however, just does not stay connected, and there really isn’t any easy way to simply reconnect (at least none that I can find). You have to go in through the App, and delete the machine, and then re-add it in order to re-connect to the internet. It wouldn’t be too bad if this happened periodically, but it’s everyday – and now, I just don’t bother anymore, I just hit the clean button to have her do her work! If it was just the App, and connection issues, I would make this review a 0-star! But the 2 issues put together give it my 3-star rating……. I plan to purchase another machine in the near future, but not sure if I will go with Shark again, as I really like the internet connectivity features – they are pretty important to me…. Doesn't vacuum in any organized fashion whatsoever….basically goes all over the place, like it's drunk. Unfortunately, it also goes over the same spots a few times but leaves some spots untouched. I still have to take out my regular vacuum for those and for the carpet (which I knew it doesn't vacuum carpets). It saves me a bit of time I guess because while it vacuums like a drunken sailor, I can do something else and when it's done, I go over what it did and finish with the carpet. Wherever it DOES vacuum, it does a good job and picks up everything, so that's a plus for sure. Good thing it wasn't more than I paid though – not sure yet if I regret this purchase.Adela

I got this on sale from Target after watching its price for a while. This seems to be the best combination of (relative) affordability and performance on the market from the professional review sites I looked at beforehand. Taking it home and running it, I found that it actually performs much better than my old upright vacuum with zero hassle. I have it vacuuming areas of tile, utility carpet, and medium carpet in my 1200 sqft apartment. It does an excellent job with all of these surfaces. If I have it vacuum the whole place, it does need to charge about mid-way and maybe empty a couple times in the middle, which I think is reasonable considering that we have a dog and it is picking up a bunch of hair each time. Regarding specific gripes in other reviews: yes, the emptying sound is loud (but not jet engine, more like the volume of a regular vacuum) but only lasts a few seconds. I find that it picks up dog hair pretty well. It also handles thresholds/rug edges fine at about 1cm. It bumps into things when learning, of course, but not with much force contrary to some reviews. As for the learning, it didn't take much for it to master my oddly-shaped layout between the rooms and the furniture in them. I definitely would spring for the base instead of just getting the bot. That way you can truly start it and forget about it instead of having to manually empty a few times as it putters around. Overall: 100% recommend with no regrets and I wish I had gotten one sooner.thebandageman

I bit the bullet and upgraded from a dumb robot vacuum (ecovacs N7) to this smart robot vacuum because it was on sale for $200 off MSRP. Three months later and I've been completely satisfied with the upgrade. Thanks to the mapping feature on the J7 I was able to replace 2 existing vacuums and know that my entire upstairs got cleaned. The old vacuum would get stuck in a room because it couldn't find the door and keep cleaning the same area till it ran out of power. The self emptying dust bin is a great time saver and means less maintenance each week. The sensors and programming are much better at keeping the J7 from getting stuck and having to be rescued. I'm not thrilled about sharing my floorplan and cleaning schedules with iRobot, or any company. The roombas are very expensive. Even more expensive if you have multiple floors and need daily cleaning in all areas and have to get multiple vacuums. It's brushes will leave a few little twists of felted up hair behind if you have pets, long hair, or both so it's not a pristine clean unless you have it do a deep clean every time. However, I am more than willing to deal with those negatives for all the benefits that this robot vacuum offers over my old robot vacuums. If you want to see if a robot vacuum is for you I'd suggest getting a cheap one to try with for a year or two. No robot vacuum is perfect or capable of competing with a traditional vacuum. If you can accept the compromises though and find them beneficial then I would highly recommend getting this model when it's on sale. I can't say if it's really worth it over other models at the full MSRP though.JoshuaNormal

Once the vacuum creates a layout, it will take guesses on room types, floor types, and obstacles based on machine learning. You can override any of these settings, adjust room dividers, define no-go zones, zones only for vacuuming or mopping exclusively, and more. The app will attempt to try and detect what types of obstacles exist in the room, and you can additionally place some generic furniture items on the map to better match your environment. Once you have your rooms setup, you can create different schedules based on specific rooms or have it clean the whole house. You also currently have the ability to create specific zones within rooms to go manually “spot” clean a zone if needed. Gone are the days of having to “prep” your house for robotic vacuuming watching your robot roam around randomly bumping into everything, missing spots, getting stuck and tangled on everything, and in general just being more of a burden than actually helping anything. The superior 3D obstacle avoidance technology in the Roborock is simply stunning. Overall, if you’re looking for a robotic floor cleaning partner in crime that can help you keep not only your carpets but hard floors spotless, you seriously need to try this thing out. It’s almost completely maintenance free apart from having to empty a dirty water tank and debris/dust bin and filling the water tank occasionally. The Roborock has all the intelligence in the world to avoid obstacles in the most complex household environments and will just make your life that much easier. How nice is it to come home to consistently clean floors?  I don’t need to move my mats off the floor in the kitchen or the bathroom, pick my shoes up off the floor if I don’t want to or that shirt sitting over in the corner, I don’t have to worry it’s going to get stuck under at the bed because it does a great job navigating whatever it is under the bed and not only does it do a great job it identifies by taking a picture of whatever item is under there, and with a percentage of certainty it can assess what that item is not always great by does a pretty darn good job. It is by far, as other reviewers have noted, leaps and bounds …. ARTEMIS SIZE… GALACTICLY SUPERIOR to ANY other vacuum. And then, to add an amazing mop that is utilized simultaneously with the vacuuming feature, and the ability to customize from a light mop job to a extra duty session— YESSSSS nailed it in execution, nailed it in design, and nailed it in understanding the deficiencies of the current technologies on the market, and then bring the technology market 🙂 Summarized, and in general, I have been pretty darn critical of most of them tech purchases in the past 10 years because of shifty retailers, manufactures, ad campaigns, all implying, amazing features and benefits that blend into a disappointment and waste. If not a complete failure. It’s usually what is implied by the manufacture, but not stated that leaves disappointment in execution. And then, of course, there are the glaring issues, confronting consumers in the marketplace by way of the retailers, not Best Buy that don’t care about the customer enough to mandate that pro product descriptions are actually in English enough to understand but to me that basically means that a manufacture doesn’t really care about the American consumer at all because if they did, they would find somebody who speaks English enough to write a manual for whatever product and to write print and advertise that product in a way that respects the customer and doesn’t make them have to read between the lines or reword, poor grammatical errors, because of a lack of regard that upsets me more than anything so I’m very glad to have retailers that are still around like Best Buy where I know specifications for a product are going to be the specs for the product. Anyway, the bottom line is, this is a win. I’m pleased, and I have not been pleased in the product and I can say this pretty certainly in a very, very long time, so great job, Robo rock. You know this industry segment is still very young when the best robot vacuum by far which is this S7 MaxV Ultra has quite a few areas to improve on but all in all. I LOVE IT! This is advanced AI coupled with top level engineering at its finest for robot vacuum cleaners. At this point, Roborock is Roborock's biggest competitor – however, there's def room for improvement. Below is everything the bot does really well that are selling points. For the "Needs to improve" I'll indicate whether these are software fixes or hardware changes which means you'd have to wait for the next version and hope the changes are built in as part of the bots physical hardware component. Best Features – Intuitive UI & navigation software packed with useful features (3D map, 2 way calling, etc) – Ability to auto fill bot with water, auto empty dustbin and wash mop – Great battery life (my experience) – On board video camera to see where bot is cleaning – Carpet detection feature with mop auto lift – AI obstacle recognition, avoidance & tagging – Room recognition with machine learning capabilities. – Various cleaning configuration settings Needs to improve – Show water levels in app (hardware fix) – Increased suction doesn't do much for carpets. I purchased the J7 after I decided to retire my few years old Roborock S4 to the basement and get some newer technology. If the J7 was my first robot vacuum purchase I would probably be happy. But when compared to my previous one this has too many annoying problems. Let me start with what it does better. First, it really is a good-looking vacuum. Much nicer than the homely S4. Next, the amount of pet hair and dirt it collects is at least 30% better than the S4. So isn't that what a vacuum is supposed to do? Vacuum? Why 3 stars? Because it only finishes a cleaning job 50% of the time. Reviewing the last 30 cleaning jobs on the app, only 14 finished. There are way too many issues that require my intervention to get a finished job. It sucks up objects it is supposed to avoid, brushes get stuck with pet hair, doesn't dock properly so not charged for next job, strands itself because it didn't recognize no-go zone, etc. It is rare I need to help along the S4 except to empty the much larger dust bin or clean the washable filter (which the Roomba does not have). I wouldn't say I totally regret this purchase but given the opportunity to do it again I would go with another Roborock. BTW, as I write this review the Roomba has not cleaned in 6 days while I wasn't home. Battery was dead sitting on the charging dock.BretLee

It's very good on hardwood and rugs, has no issues like other brands climbs on rugs and etc. Roborock S6 isn't as good. Has sensor for carpet detection and this avoid to go over carpet or rug while in mopping mode. currently unique and very useful feature. soon will be avail in roborock S5 MAX, S6 doesn't have it. Multi floor feature – also useful. roborock s6 doesn't have it water dripping for mopping is controlled from the app, several levels – this is useful and also unique for 950 cons: 1. LDS, laser sensor isn't horizontal that is the issue as 950 can easily get under bed, but can't get out as from distance it doesn't see a way out and as result gets stuck under bed. sure this area can be marked as no go zone, but how to clean under bed in this case? 2. app doesn't have virtual walls, which are useful; roborock s5, s6 has it. 950 has just box as no go zone, which only horizontal or vertical 3. no map edit and no map selection. you can't create new map at will if any exists and it might overlap the area – 950 choose by itself, which isn't correct map for the area 4. 2 floors required 2 charging docks to work as expected, otherwise map selection isn't guaranteed 5. it's loud. roborock S6 a bit quieter 6. app doesn't have many features like manual navigation, map management, virtual walls I think that updates to firmware and app software can address current issues and add missing features.mikek75310

Do not buy Ecovacs 950 ozmo. The life of product is not more than 8 months. All of its sensing system totally fail. The support team is sitting somewhere in Malaysia. Thet can not resolve issue bcos there are no service center in india.

While the vaccine has its weaknesses it cleans better than we did before we purchased it. We have 5 carpets with tassels or fringes. The Rumba loves to get caught on these and runs till the battery runs out. So we move the smaller carpets and the 16 X 20 silk carpet is adjusted so the Rumba can not clean it. We simply turn the edges over so the machine can not climb on it. Then we vaccine that rug the old fashioned way. The filter works so well it is hard to believe. We ran the Rumba all over the house and left for a week long trip. When we got home we ran the Rumba again and it picked up the dust. The filter was clean except for a bunch of dust. The product was cranky when trying to hook it up to the app. Since I have to move it between 3 levels of the house I just don't bother with the app. Fortunately I am still able to get up and walk to the device and push a button. I do not need to depend on Google or Alexa. The bad reviews I read were from a bunch of people with unrealistic expectations. As an aside the vaccine does not actually learn your house because when you use it again it has to learn it again. But it does remember where it left off if it needs to go home to recharge and then it starts where it left off.lukeman5433

These robots are useless after a year. The first year I had it, it worked really well. I maintained it, cleaned it, and charged it regularly. Before the first year was up, I filed the warranty because it stopped picking up anything. Now, a year later, its repeating the same thing but iRobot was very comfortable telling me to spend a minimum of $110 to repair the useless hunk of metal and plastic. Or the other option was to spend $200 to buy the lower end models. For something that initially cost me $350, this should last me as long as a Dyson but its a complete waste of money. I also got this because I have severe allergies so if I dont regularly vacuum daily, I get allergy attacks. I thought this would address but instead, I just ended up wasting my time. Im very disappointed that as a responsible user who put trust in something as expensive as this product, my whole investment went down the drain in less than 2 years. This purchase was to replace an original 960 bought new from iRobot when it was a flagship model. I am reviewing the second, replacement for the refurbished 960 I purchased from the eBay store. The first one was so bad and had so many faults and problems including not being able to dock that I requested a refund the next day. I gave it a second chance and ordered another one while waiting for the return and refund. It is maybe only 40% defective, but it will function and dock. It will not stop cleaning and return to the base as programmed for bin emptying until the extractor discharge shoot is full and dumps on the floor requiring hand clean out each time. It is incapable of driving over any throw rug or carpet runner without getting it pulled into the extractor rollers and hanging it up, it lacks the intelligence to free it's self from these obstacles like the original did.tgblair

Our roomba worked great… at first. About 6 months in it started being finicky and eventually moved on to bothersome. By about the 10 month mark we were cleaning sensors, vacuuming it out, and tinkering with it non stop. At month 13 it stopped altogether and we called irobot. We wasted hours on hold, explaining and re-explaining, and even taking videos only to have them deny any help. My wife explained that we hadn't even been using it for a year because I had bought it on Black Friday and she opened it Christmas morning. They had the audacity to tell her I should have bought it closer to Christmas. They "offered" to have someone try to fix it for $130 which I have to assume was the full freight. I bought this vacuum 2 years ago. My house is a busy place where dirt is tracked in daily. This machine is used daily and has greatly increased the cleanliness of our house. Naturally it makes me very happy to have a helper that does the sweeping and vacuuming daily for me! The machine did stop charging for a while until I googled the problem. All Roomba's need the charging sensors underneath the machine cleaned and the dirt sensor under the brushes cleaned every 3 months. After cleaning the sensors (as well as vacuuming the filter) the Roomba was ready to roll. Great product that I highly recommend.esend

We recently bought this model for our house. I used it twice and found that it would go backwards and forwards along the same stretch of the hallway non-stop for over 20minutes and didn't from that patch of hallway. It has difficulty moving from room to room which made it pretty much useless given I needed to physically move it into each room for it to vacuum each different room. It may have been better in a slightly smaller house. I ended up exchanging it for the more expensive model which has mapping and this more expensive model is WAY better . Definitely worth spending the extra money on the model with mapping.anonymous

Absolutely love my robo vac. Makes my life so much easier. He finds his way back to his charging dock without an issue. This model doesn't have mapping features but I think he finds his way around just fine without it. The app tells you how many square metres have been cleaned and in what time. I empty it every day and use him 1-2 times daily. Loved it so much I've purchased my mum one for her birthday.anonymous

I have a dog who sheds hair if you so much as glance in his direction. My trusty Dyson does a great job, but its a bit of a pain to drag out. So I gifted myself this little helper. Now I did purchase a basic model, and have set my expectations accordingly. Ive learned to check that cords are out of the way (after losing a couple). The app allows me to schedule cleaning times, which is handy. The base model does not automatically empty the robot. Its also a bit dumb about returning to base when the battery is low. Usually when it announces a low battery I empty the dog hair and take it back to recharge. Otherwise I have to hunt it down to find where it landed – usually under a bed or couch. It also managed to trap itself in the bathroom, which was good for some giggles. It meets my main requirements, which is to manage the dog hair in between proper vacuuming. Im not game enough to try the mopping function as I dont know thats its going to accurately differentiate hard floors from carpet – I may try this out at some point, but its not a high priority.Anne

I purchased this unit yesterday for the 2nd floor of my home. I have removed all of the carpet throughout and just have ceramic tile on the 1st floor and vinyl plank on the 2nd floor. Purchased this i4 for the 2nd floor and only use it in my bedroom right now. After 18 minutes of use (the time it took to vacuum my bedroom), it redocked. Decided to try out the Google command to vacuum again 15 minutes later and received error 26 that I needed to remove debris. There was next to no debris in it as I had vacuumed manually prior to the 1st run. I haven't been able to get the error to go away, even after washing out the bin and checking everything. I even tried the reboot to clear the error. Nothing works. Been trying to figure it out for hours. Shouldn't break after 18 minutes of light use!Travis

I bought my DEEBOT 500 about two months ago to clean our two bedroom apartment. I have been totally amazed with the cleaning this thing does. In the summer time we are only home two days a week and the rest of the time we spend at camp! When I first started running the DEEBOT I ran it the day after we were home. When we came back I could not believe how much lint type dirt was in the collection bin. Then we ran it again after our second trip and it collected just as much dirt again. I did this routine for about three weeks and by this time it was collecting very little dirt. So now I am running it once a week and it still picks up some dirt! It does a very good job around the outside edge of the rooms as you can follow the tracks. I have moved stuff we have had on the carpet for a while and the carpet was very pushed down and when we came home it was as if we never had anything there. The vacuum pulls the carpet back up and it looks very good. When I bought it my wife rolled her eyes. Now she rolls her eyes because of the great job the DEEBOT does!waynekel69

I've had this deebot 500 for about three months. It does a great job cleaning – you can tell by the amount of dirt you empty out of it. I'm sure alot also comes from under furniture that would be hard to get to with the regular vacuum. The problem is the robot gets tangled in any cords, wires, or cables which might be in its path. It also gets stuck on the feet of my modern sofa which has wire horizontal design. On small threshold between room it goes right down the 1/2 inch gap but then gets stuck trying to come back up it. You do need to rearrange furniture sometimes so it can get to all the areas you want cleaned (move dining room chairs so it gets under table, move stools from under countertops). I've also found that the spining brushes have tangled in carpet fibers on a low pile carpet in my basement so I won't use it there. Its a handy device as long as you babysit it. I can understand the premium for robots that allow for mapping or better learning. Maybe next time I'll try a more advanced model.HudsonValleyDeebotUser

I bought this robot base on all the great reviews everyone gave it and it worked great ….. for only 2 weeks! After 2 weeks it would only go about 3-5 ft and then it will automatically stop and do a180 degree turn and go the opposite way (I have hardwood floors). Basically it kept doing this and it really didn't go anywhere. There were nothing near the robot when it was running. Called Ecovac support team, sent my new deebot to them and they replaced it with a "refurbished" deebot. After using the "refurbished" deebot for a couple of weeks now, I'm having the same issue. There's has to be some type of manufacturing defect with this model. There's no way 2 different robots will have the same issue unless there's a defect somewhere internally ….. as of right now I'm still waiting for tech support to get back to me on this 2nd unit. If I can get a refund (probably ain't gonna happen) I'm taking my money and purchasing a different brand as this robot is unreliable. Bottom line not worth the money or the hassle. Bobsweep is definitely like a child and needs constant watch. He is like a child in there terrible twos, always needing watching to make sure they don’t damage anything. He has no clue where he is ever going, many times just going in circles and cleaning over the same area. He is not smart and takes a long time to return to his charging base. Bob is louder then expected and considering the high price, I would have expected more features and better hardware. For the deal of the day price, bob definitely works but not ever at the full price. After only one hour of use, bob already had surface scratches all over the top of the unit from going under the furniture and getting stuck and not moving away but would just return to the same spot again. The remote for bob is huge and outdated looking for todays times. Bob does a good job at getting the little crumbs and pet hair but I would not recommend for someone who wants a vacuum to clean when they are away. I would never trust this to clean when not home as I fear it would do something stupid or get stuck and rip the carpet or just go back and forth over the same spots.Reviewer2020

I have had bob for over a year now and in that time I have had the battery replaced once. Other than that I love bob. He cleans up pet hair very thoroughly and saves me the hassle of having to do it. HE does some times get stuck but that's either because he's the perfect height to go under counters or the fact I have lips going into or from the kitchen. Haven't used the mop feature but his brushes work well. Sometimes he slams into objects but that's to be expected. He isn't perfect but definitely does a good job cleaning up pet hair. Customer service was great when I had to get the battery replaced. No complaints other than he gets stuck and sometimes can't find his charger.sweatyyetti

I've had Bob about 2 months now and i do not recommend this product. Bob has a programmable remote, but he only works when he feels like it, i have him programmed to run every afternoon Monday- Friday and he has yet to work everyday. You need to be home when he is running because he will get stuck and need redirected. Bob has no pattern, and I swear everytime he sees a pile of cat fur on the ground he turns away from it. Also he cannot get over even the slightest carpet hump. Bob never finds his way back to his charging port and he cannot even sweep my entire living room on one charge (about 45 minutes). Bob is also loud like a regular vaccuum, so he cannot run in the middle of the night for he would wake you up. Overall I do not recommend this product.sugarsnap39
