Best Toner For Uneven Skin Tone (2024 Update)

Please note that I have the sample size (30ML) SKINCO ROMA Truffle Therapy Face Toner, that I received in my April 2017 Ipsy glambag. I have never heard of this brand before and this will be my first time trying a product from them. There’s not much information on them, within their website other than where the ingredients are from and formulated to help keep your skin healthy. I am very into how this brand is vegan, gmo, gluten, cruelty free, and etc. Overall the product is my first time trying toner, I haven’t been into toners before. My usual skin care routine is face mask, exfoliate, cleanser, and moisturizer. My daily skin care has advanced since using this toner, I have incorporated trying different toners into my daily routine. I like how this product doesn’t have a strong aroma, I expected it to because that’s how I saw toner as and I don’t like strong smells. The product is light on my skin and doesn’t make it feel dry once applied. I like how the results overtime, my skin has more glow to it and feels extra soft. I also think that this product is very affordable for the amazing things put into the product, I would like to try other products from this brand.tina.l

I was really excited to receive this toner in my Causebox. My mistake: I did not really understand the intended purpose of this toner. I figured “truffle therapy” meant it would be a nourishing toner…I was wrong. This is more of an exfoliating toner, and I was using it way more than I should have, which was making my skin SO dry. I have stopped using it daily and using it more as an exfoliating/purifying toner. I’m not very impressed. It’s fine. This is advertised as part cleanser and I don’t think my skin would handle that (see it drying my skin a TON). Lesson learned: when you get a product in a subscription box, don’t use it blindly. I know that is common sense, but apparently I don’t have that common sense…alessandra.p

Over this toner is OKAY. I wish I would have noticed that the majority of the reviews were incentivized. The packaging is nice and I like the size of the bottle and how much comes out when you pour. Now for the actual product. First and for most, this toner smells awful. It’s almost like putting vinegar on your face. Secondly, it’s tacky feeling. It doesn’t matter whether you put it on dry skin or damp—you will notice it’s still there. My skin has cleared up some using this toner but honestly I don’t look forward to using just because the smell. I was hoping to find a replacement for glow recipe, but 100% this is NOT it.katieb1991

I love this toner. My skin has very uneven texture and tone, but I noticed a difference with this product after the first use. My pore size appeared smaller and my skin tone more even. It does tingle a bit but I feel like that means it working. I’ll definitely repurchase this once it runs out. I’d also use it on a cotton round as recommend, rather than parting with bare hands. Use this in my daily regimen. So far after using this a couple week Ive noticed less oily skin. I plan to continue to use this with my other epionce products. It burns a small amount after putting in on if you have recent acne sores but it’s short lived. Haven’t noticed too much for complexion but it’s only been two weeks.Jaye

I have oily acne prone skin. I use this product after washing with lytic gel cleanser. use this toner to prep my face for moisturizer. This product could be improved using a easier to spritz my face and body. This bottle last longer then the rest of the products.veronica

I love this toner! I’ve previously been turned away from toners because so many of them market themselves as exfoliators or an extra cleanse, but once I got this one, I can’t do my skincare routine without it! This toner markets itself as a 2-in-1, softening and hydrating the skin. The formula is a thin, watery consistency that I find soaks into the skin immediately. I pour a small amount into my hands and rub / pat the product into my skin. It layers well with other serums and moisturizers. Some reviews will say it leaves a tacky or oily residue, but I’ve never experienced this and actually love the way it makes my skin look and feel. After consistent use, this product has completely changed the way my skin looks and feels and I don’t go a morning or night without using it. What really sold me was when I layered this with my retinol and then my AHA/BHA serum. This toner provided the perfect base for more abrasive/irritating skincare products (truly changed the game for me!). I would absolutely recommend this to anyone, but especially those with dry skin. Toners usually contain ingredients that are humectants (retain moisture, almost always water soluble) while moisturizers usually contain emollients (prevent moisture evaporation, biphase solution of oily and watery phase made homogeneous through emulsification). Getting a biphase solution to look and feel the same, instead of the heterogeneous example in my stories, usually involves a thickening effect; hence why moisturizers are a lot thicker than single phase solutions like toners. Because of my combination skin, if I used as a moisturizer or as a one and only product after cleansing my face, I found it to be to rich and slightly greasy. It does form a slight film on the skin so personally I don’t find that it works best to use right after cleaning your face. I would recommend more for those with dry and dehydrated skin or those who live in colder climates, because of how rich this feels on the skin. I am 47 yrs young with textured skin, sun damage and post acne scars.. I do have the healthiest skin for me ever(only took me till I was in my 40s lol) but after sometime u like to change up your products. Have always incorporated niacinamide in my routine but when I seen this toner I had to try. Omg!! After 1st time I used it, my skin felt hydrated, moisturized, soft and jad a beautiful glow. I followed with GM hyaluronic acid serum and so impressed. I can't wait to use it every night. I will be trying other products but after using so many different toners I have never seen these kind of results. Sorry for rambling but had to share my opinion!! TLDR; BUY THIS TONER, DARK SPOTS GONE I had cystic acne that popped up because of constant mask wearing (disposable masks) at work. Clusters of huge pimples, to the point that it hurt to smile and no amount of makeup could cover those mountains on my face. I used the COSrx pimple patches (which also worked wonders) to reduce the size of my breakouts and help clear them faster, along with the Proactive toner, Beekman Victamin C booster, and Exuviance AHA cleanser massaged in my skin with my Foreo device. I noticed my pimples weren't lasting as long, and were less frequent but they left horrible dark scars. I bought this toner and used it twice a day after cleansing in addition to everything else in my routine and just after a week I noticed the dark spots fading and my pimples becoming less frequent. After a month I had to smack myself for not buying this toner sooner. My dark spots are pretty much all gone and I have no more pimples. There are still a couple tiny acne scars that are stubborn and won't clear, but a little CC cream covers them up just fine. My skin is soft, smooth, and brighter than ever! Side note: I switched to cloth masks and used a new one every day. The disposable masks were causing my clusters of pimples, even though I changed them every hour. Anyways, I highly recommend this Good Molecules Toner!COCO

I just repurchased this toner after getting it in gratis in April (I'm a beauty advisor). I love the way it treats my skin!! I find that niacinamide serums like the ordinary has are sometimes annoying to put on so this is perfect for me. Just adds a little extra to my skincare routine! I actually do think it's brightening and making my skin look better. I wouldn't say my skin has ever looked really dull, but the overall skin tone feels more even to me. I have slight roseacea on the bottoms of my cheeks (like where a dog's jowls are lol) and I feel like they have become a lot calmer!!!! That's really important to me because I can't wear foundation cause I have freckles all over my face and I don't like to hide them. My son has very sensitive skin and was prone to acne, but most acne medications dried his skin up way to much. I always use witch Hazel after cleansing my face, to remove any left over residue. So I thought, hmmm I wonder if it would help him? So to make it easier and less “girl product”, I bought a screw top reusable plastic container (the one in the photo is by Ziploc) and loaded it with a package of cotton rounds. If you notice in the photo, I separated them and then arranged them slightly overlapping each one. This helps to remove one each time. I then liberally pour the witch Hazel onto the pads. As they soak up the liquid, you can usually get the rest of the single sleeve in there. Make sure they are soaked through. But not leaving a puddle in the bottom of the container. Now they are great cleansing pads, but without the salicylic or benzoyl acids, that dry out the skin. The witch Hazel pads remove any left over soaps or cleansers, excess oil from sweating etc, and really do help your skin at the same time. My son can now quickly use these pads in the morning before school, after school and before bed without his skin drying, and now his skin looks and feels great.andi.b

This product has delighted me, and I think I will stay a loyal user of it for a long time. The packaging is enormous; even though I use it daily, it wears off very slowly. The product is extremely gentle on my skin and leaves no traces of dryness. By the way, my skin is oily, but it gets dehydrated quickly and is very demanding. The pores on the face are smaller and tighter after using this product for longer. My face feels fresh and clean after using it. I use it after washing and cleansing my face in the morning and at night. My only complaint is the product's smell, but luckily, it's not intense or unpleasant. I've heard so much about this Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner so of course I had to try it out! I've been using this tone for a little over 2 weeks now and I must say it has become my favorite! It gently cleanses, conditions and refines your pores. I love that it cleanses your skin so well without over drying it like a lot of toners usually do. This toner is fragrance free and made up of 100% Natural Distilled Witch Hazel. This 100% natural toner is free of dyes, parabens, sulfates, phthalates and gluten. Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner has been apart of their pure skincare promise since 1866 and definitely keeps a name for itself! I rarely put reviews but this was seriously a game changer. When I suddenly got skin bumps that were not quite hormonal acne, but more like clogged whiteheads or fungal acne it was very hard to get rid of the stubborn spots, however, when I started using this the blemishes started going away. It is gentle enough for beginners to acid toners (like me) and was fine to use often throughout a week (and my skin is acne prone, dry, AND sensitive). I finished the whole bottle and it has been a while since my last use of it but my skin has been smooth and without the small fungal acne since. If you’re thinking about trying it, I would definitely recommend!!bunnycee

As someone who has always had horrible reactions to toners, this one is a godsend! It provides the perfect amount of gentle exfoliation for my dry, slightly sensitive/reactive skin. All other toners leave me with painful rashes that take about a week to heal; this one I use every other day and the results are great! I definitely feel like it zips up my pores where they're bigger, on and near my nose (in appearance, not literally), and sloughs off all the old dry skin that is congesting my skin. I use retinol as well and find that because my skin cells turn over so quickly, I need a toner to keep polishing off the old stuff. I'm able to use this frequently with no irritation, which is kind of miraculous for my skin type. I docked one star because the bottle is tiny, and with frequent use it runs out way too quickly imo. It is a watery toner and more gentle than other PHA toners I have tried before. I have combination and acne prone skin and it not irritate my skin. I used it mostly for its soothing and cleaning effect. However, there was no improvement in my skin texture or evenness and breakouts. But it made my skin very sticky, which I hated. I really cannot say any other things about this toner, so I encourage you to try this yourself since it is quite affordable and can be a great addition to your skincare routine. Same as other bottled products from The Inkey List, this product came leaked with only half full. Even if I want to repurchase it, I would not until they change the package.baljmaa.b

I am IN LOVE with this milky toner!! My face is so sensitive to products & I was nervous about trying this. In just 3 days I could see a difference! The scent is light & my skin feels so moisturized when I use it! I don't use a cotton pad. Instead, after cleansing my face I pour a dime sized amount into the palm of my hand & spead it all over my face. It doesn't irritate ANYTHING. Not even the eye area! 2 months ago I decided to add the Ultra Cleanser & Moisturizer. I'm not kidding when I say people have asked me if I've had resurfacing done. This was first time I tried this toner though have been using the rest of the products from the "Ultra Facial" line for ages. I love the texture of it, this tones is so moisturising. In the evenings, to give my skin an extra bit of a clean, I use it with a cotton pad. In the mornings, I can just apply a little with my hands – this saves lots of the product. Great in a combination with pretty much any face cream due to its texture, I tried it with 5 or 6 – works well, no contradiction with other products! When particular zones of my face go sensitive, I apply a little more of this toner and it helps to reduce the sensitiveness. Will be buying again and again from now on!DashaEs

I really enjoyed using this toner as it didn't leave a sticky residue unlike many other toners I've used, and it's really light. I've been using it for around 2 months now, and my redness and acne has decreased slowly but steadily. I use this along with the COSRX good morning low Ph cleanser, Paula's choice exfoliator, and neutrogena moisturizer for extra dry skin. Overall, I'd say to get this product because it lasts a loooong time and is really gentle, perfect for acne prone and sensitive skin.jialinlin

This toner was included in a Dermstore kit (I purchased 2!). I think I purchased them because of an Obagi cleanser I had fallen in love with, and as a result, I've now fallen in love with the toner. I basically do a variation on a Korean routine, and I follow this up with an essence that I combine with the serum(s) I'm using that day/night. The toner makes my skin feel fresh and clean without feeling stripped in the least. I am sure I will purchase a bottle when my very generous samples are finished. Sometimes I like to switch things up and try new products, but once I fine something that really works, I tend to stick with it!Lisa

I have oily skin that becomes irritated because I've started retinols. I've looked high and low for a toner that will balance my skin and won't sting when my skin is a little irritated. This is it. I have very dry skin and have to apply moisturizer a couple of times during the day in addition to during my morning and night routine. Since I started using this toner I haven’t needed to apply moisturizer once during the day. No more flakes and no more of that tight dry feeling. Good product and works well with other products too. It does take quite a lot to "saturate cotton ball or swab" so instead I put some in the palm of my hand and rub on my face and it works just as well. Although the fragrance is the same as the Hyaluronic Gel Cushion Cleanser, I would prefer if there was less perfume in the products. As more and more people are having odor sensitivities, and more and more places, including the office, are requesting and identify themselves as "scent free", we become used to less scents so our noses become sensitive to fragrances. I adore this new toner and the ingredients! Love that the AHA's are Lactic, Malic, and Mandelic rather than being loaded with Glycolic, for those of us sensitive to glycolic! Works beautifully for my dry/combo skin when used every other day or night… definitely can't use 2x day as instructions allow, or I dry out too badly. My only complaint is the fragrance is quite "perfume" heavy and I don't care for it at all. Doesn't make my skin look shiny(I use a Niacinamide toner as well that makes my skin look too shiny), looks healthy with a slight glow. My skin doesn't feel dry. Doesn't have a fragrance, but does have a very slight alcoholic scent, and a bread-like scent (maybe the witch-hazel?) Has 14% Organic Alcohol, which might be quite effective as a skin care carrier agent (to help other ingredients penetrate your skin) and also the organic alcohol is more expensive, so maybe that's the reason the price of this toner went up. Ok, so I'm tired of manipulated reviews on certain websites, that's why I don't even bother. But, since I have an olive complexion and I'm Hispanic, I read that this was designed for darker skin tones, and since the product has lactic acid which is a nice exfoliant I decided to give it a chance… OK, first I'm not really acne prone. My skin has been more towards the dry spectrum than the oily. But then in my 30s it became kind of combination skin, like in my jaw and certain parts of my cheeks it became a bit more oily. But now in my 40s I've developed hormonal acne and my skin became dull and weird. So finding out what works us tedious and I've try many things. One thing I tried was a glycolic peel and although it was a low concentration it made me plurge but in a bad way because it kind of burned me. But the problem is that I do need something that brings the acne underneath to the surface to really clear my skin. So I decided to give the Mele toner a chance… this is what happened: I purged!!! But within a week the pimples got to a head, it was simple to pop and the pimple disappeared. Why? Because it soflty peeled my skin!!! At first I almost abandoned it but I'm glad I didn't. In case you're wondering this is my final routine after lots of trials and error: Day routine: Expose cleanser or Corsx cleanser. The Male Post Cleanse Tonic is great for after cleansing the face. Some may think of it as an astringent or a witch hazel. However, Mele Post Cleanse Tonic is a refresher and I notice it does remove any additional impurities left over that cleansing missed. I like it also because it exfoliates and fades dark spots in addition to correcting signs of aging. It's best to use it morning and night after cleansing by using a little on a cotton ball. Great for face and neck. Contains AHA. The directions and ingredient information is right on the bottle. The phone number is on the bottle too, should you have questions or comments. I really love this toner. It's definitely become a staple in my routine. I use this daily, and my skin had no issues with incorporating it into my routine. It's gentle yet very effective. I've noticed softer skin, more clarity. There were other products in the GM line that didn't work for me, but this one along with the pineapple exfoliating powder and the overnight serum work like magic. I'm on my 2nd bottle of the toner. Initially I thought it was nice, had a weird smell though. So I stopped using this one and started using their Niacinamide Brightening Toner (which I LOVE; it pairs nicely with their Discoloration Serum), and once I ran out of that one, I started using this one again. It burns my entire face sometimes between uses, and I've had to re-wash my face because the burning was too bad. (FYI I apply to toner and clean skin, dry). I also like to apply a small amount of toner in between steps for extra hydration, but that was a no go with this one. ** So beware and proceed with caution if you have sensitive/acne prone skin! **Maya

I previously used the Niacinamide toner and loved it because I felt like I could visibly see the results right away. I love Good Molecules so I thought I'd check this one out. I used it for a few nights and I'm honestly not sure what I should think of it. It stung a bit whenever I did use it and I did use it sparingly. I thought it was because I was using it after my Cerave BP wash, but I went a few nights just using water or the Good Molecules cleansing balm and it still stung! It also felt a bit drying even on its own. Not a fan, most likely gonna go back to the previous cleanser!Nia

Before using this toner, I've been using apple cider vinegar diluted with water as a toner (which by the way is really helpful). I have noticed the few times that I have use it, it has help clean my face more. It's very easy to pour out a lot of product when you turn it upside down and shake. The bottle is too hard to squeeze so it won't come out that way. It has a faint earthy scent (like when you cut a fresh branch and smell it). It's best to use with a cotton round, anything else may soak up the product. I do have very sensitive skin, but I believe this is a very gentle for my skin type. What I have used so far is a sample size, so the pricing of $39 may seem a bit overpriced. I would recommend this product, and I do see myself buying in the near future.kamry.m

I love this toner. It is so soothing. I had a pretty irritated face this week from doing an exfoliating mask, and the other toner I was using (Bliss rosewater toner) made my face sting a lot. I decided to set that one aside and reach for this one. I’m so glad it did. It felt so nice on my face. It has a little scent to it, but I looked and I didn’t see fragrance as an ingredient. I think it’s the honeysuckle that’s in it. It’s light, not overpowering. It lovely. I’m very happy with this!amber.g

i'm not the type to ever write reviews but this deserves it. i got this in my ipsy bag in 2020 and i haven't stopped using it since. i've struggled with acne my whole life and i have hormonal breakouts and super super sensitive skin. i'm not gonna sit here and say it's completely got rid of my acne but this is 100% the thing that i've used that works the best and won't be leaving my routine. i'm also the type to spend hours and looking at reviews on products and please listen to me when i say this is amazing. it's kinda pricey but the bottle last so long. just use a cotton pad and not the balls!!! the smell is amazing as well. i've also looked up the ingredients on this app called yuka and it scored 100/100 for natural and good for your skin products. please give it a try. i've seen reviews about how the bottle is hard to squeeze, well, that's because it's not meant to be. it's meant to shake on a cotton pad. plus from doing so you save so much of the product. like i said before it will last my almost five months and i use it every single day.sky

Use this in my daily regimen. So far after using this a couple week Ive noticed less oily skin. I plan to continue to use this with my other epionce products. It burns a small amount after putting in on if you have recent acne sores but it’s short lived. Haven’t noticed too much for complexion but it’s only been two weeks.Jaye

I have oily acne prone skin. I use this product after washing with lytic gel cleanser. use this toner to prep my face for moisturizer. This product could be improved using a easier to spritz my face and body. This bottle last longer then the rest of the products.veronica

I have been using Body beautifying milk for sometimes which is very good for my skin type, but I switch to Exclusive Toning milk but the results am getting so far is not encouraging it leaves my skin dry and reddish. I use to have a beautiful skin prior to using this product. For the three months i have use this lotion, it has really destroy my skin. I have develop discoloration all over my skin cause by this lotion. The bleaching content is very high. At this point, i am looking for can fade away my discoloration especially on my face cause by this lotion. For people who are interested in bleaching is good. But still is not a good bleaching agent because it does not give a uniform color.Liz

I got my cream today. However, I noticed it spilt out of the bottle. My guess is it happened during the packaging . The bottle wasn't broken and the *** was okay. So please when packaging be careful not to allow the spilling because every little thing inside is usefulIbiwunmi

The product is overall pretty good. It definitely does a good job with brightening skin and acne, but it just wasn't the product for me. I prefer an acne product I can use every day over every other day since that helps me remain consistent with my routine without having to think about it too much when I'm tired. If your skin is sensitive, there's a good chance it will sting when you first start using it, but that gets a lot better when and if you're consistent with using it and slowly build up to more uses throughout the week. If you forget for a while, though, your skin will kind of reset and sting again. DEFINITELY delicately press it in with a cotton pad like it says in the description and don't swipe it because that will decrease the amount of stinging SIGNIFICANTLY. I also realized that my best option for acne is using something with salicylic acid in it on a daily basis. I'll still use this every once in a while to help with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (getting rid of dark spots after I have a breakout) and might rebuy it for this purpose once I run out. The description led me to believe that it would have salicylic acid in it, but after talking to customer support I realized that that was not the case. While salicylic acid is not in the actual ingredients list, it is mentioned to have BHA in the description and the "Star Ingredients" section says "BHA (salicylic acid) exfoliates, controls excess sebum" before the actual ingredients list, when it only actually has Willow Bark Extract, which is considered a natural alternative to salicylic acid, due to their chemical similarities, their similar effects, that salicylic acid can be made from the bark of willow trees. I'm not a dermatologist, but I think it would be good to be a bit clearer about this, since they do have their differences and someone might be looking for one over the other, ie. salicylic acid tends to be a bit more effective at treating acne and willow bark extract usually has fewer drawbacks (dry skin, redness, itchiness, etc.). It's a tradeoff and it's worth knowing which is the right ingredient for you, which is why some added clarity would be nice. To be clear, I'm not a dermatologist or a professional related to beauty or skincare in any way! I'm just a skincare enthusiast who went through a lot to figure out what works for me. This is genuinely a good product and I'll still use it, just on an as-needed basis. Not really for my more general acne prevention and more for occasional breakout aftercare. Although I typically do not use a toner in my daily skincare routine, I did really enjoy using Nuria’s Hydrate Moisturizing Toner. I have very dry skin, so I really liked how hydrated & replenished it left my skin feeling, particularly after cleansing. I also appreciated that it didn’t leave my skin feeling stripped or tight, as so many other toners I’ve tried in the past have. Overall, I think this a good toner, especially for those with dry skin.Kayemjay

I really enjoyed using Nuria Hydrate Moisturizing Toner. I admit I was unsure what toner was and what the uses for it were. After reading the label and doing a little bit of research on the Nuria website, I found all the benefits of using toner prior to putting a hydrating lotion on. Hydrate Moisturizing Toner is wonderful. I have never used any toner like this. It is so good. I am surprised because, honestly, I thought all toner was the same. But, alas, it is not. It is do good that I don't even have to think twice about using this product. I recommend this toner if you have a need for toner.
