Best Vacuum For Stairs And Pet Hair (2023 Update)

Out of the box, the vacuum was great. Sucked up everything. Within a month, it was basically a glorified hand vacuum. The only way I can get it to do anything is to use remove the hose and the attachments. The actual suction when using it upright is terrible. It vibrates like a dolphining F1 race car, makes a hideous popping and hissing sound from the side, and worst of all, leaves fuzz, dirt , and giant hard balls of lint all over my floors rather than actually cleaning them. Using this vacuum is more work than simply using a broom and a hand held dirt Devil. Customer service was helpful in trying to fix the issues but the suggested solve didn't work. It does quality performing for pet hair to include the turbo extension tool for upholstery. DO READ ALL the instructions so you know how to properly use it. Don't assume! The tools are ill placed with the placement and storage of the electrical cord (always falling off). The telescope for the hose to attachments doesn't lock properly and always ALWAYS pushing back in. I don't have an issue with pet hair on the roller getting stuck, but I do with human hair and any amount of length to trash. The spot where the hose connects to the canister is constantly getting clogged because it is small and narrow, needs to be wider. Pay CLOSE attention when taking the filter out of the canister and putting it back; there is a reason it is meticulously marked. The alignment must be perfect or it won't go back together properly; this is the same for everything on the vacuum. Hard to push when vacuuming (hence one of the reasons I said to read instructions carefully)? You have to provide some air to release the amount of suction, so it moves easier with the little knob on the left; by the way, it moves also on its own.feltermail

Within 1 minute of its' first use this model #2475 Pet Hair Eraser Turbo had its' brush roll stop spinning before a small 10×10 foot area was complete. The belt assembly is centre mounted so debris from both sides of the brush roll collects towards its' centralized belt motor which sits open with nothing to protect it from debris. This results in it being the furthest thing from the "tangle free" unit it is advertised as. Removal of the head screws holding the bottom cover in place is quite easy so I was able to see what was causing the jam (see picture attached). The manufacturer claims the unit can accept hair length of 4-8 inches. The longest of the hairs in this pictures is 3 inches, so the job in question should have been well within the manufacturer's guidelines. Upon reassembling the base the unit promptly got jammed a second time. After once again removing the clog I decided to give it a different task, cleaning hardwood. This unit has a key feature for those with hardwood floors, its' brush can turn on/off, saving your hardwood from being scratched by the roller. Sadly there is very little suction (see video attached). I found without the brush roll spinning the machine picks up essentially nothing. The last major feature this unit is its' heavily marked "pet hair eraser" attachments. The Pet Turbo Eraser" is nothing more than the same "turbo brush" or "handi-mate" that has been commonplace on vacuum's since the 1950's. The "two in one" pet brush is a traditional fabric brush as is the crevice tool. There is nothing fundamentally different with these attachments than what is industry standard from most vacuum suppliers. I've had Bissell units before, the last being the significantly cheaper "Clearview Alergen Lift-Off Pet Upright Vaccuum." It lasted 2 years before dying a few weeks after its warranty expired precipitating the purchase of this Turbo model. All in all a poor vacuum. Don't buy this.Jimmy

Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum is light weight & really easy to remove the canister from the stick stick. Glides nicely over our entire house which has mostly wood floors and tile, but did well on multiple rugs with different pile heights. It even comes with attachments to clean the stairs, furniture or our SUV & truck. We had a different cordless one but needed a vacuum we didn’t have to worry about running out of battery 1/2 way through our home. The cord is super long so that helps us from having to re-plug every few feet. The dust compartment is simple to empty and clean out with a press of a button. We have 2 dogs and 4 kids so we’re constantly vacuuming, the power is awesome and it’s convenient to easily unload the debris. It’s lightweight too, so it’s easy for me to move around the house without it being a hassle. There is a little downside to it, which is that it doesn’t stand on its own, so you’ll have to either prop it on something or fold it (which is easy) in order to do something else if needed while vacuuming. So I’m taking it down a star for that since I do have to stop and pick up toys etc having kids & pets constantly playing.Heathermthomas

The Shark Rocket Pro, picks up VERY well. The area I first vacuumed with it, was a area that had been vacuumed the day before. Within five minutes, the Shark had picked up A LOT more. The vacuum was easy to assemble and the attachment comes apart easily to be able to vacuum the ceiling and other had to get to areas. The Shark glides across any floor easily and turns easily. The only drawback I found with this Shark machine was the motor was near the top of the handle and it made the machine top heavy. It doesn’t stand on it’s own. There are two small attachments that didn’t have anywhere to attach to the machine, that I could find. But, as well as this machine works, I find these to be minor problems. As you can see from the photo, it picked up quite a bit after only a five minute vacuum. I have animals and cleaning hair has always been a problem.adcatex6

This Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum works GREAT ! I really like how light weight it is, I can very easily maneuver it around the house with little effort and let me say how GREAT it picks up all the dirt and debris from my floors. My carpets are much cleaner/fluffy and my hardwood floors are cleaned better than when I sweep. I am very excited and satisfied at how much debris/hair/dust/dirt was in the debris container. This vacuum has PLENTY of attachments that I can use on my stairs and I'll even be cleaning my curtains and window seals. As small as this vacuum is, is does the job QUICKLY and very EFFECTIVELY, much much better than my current canister vacuum. This Shark Rocket Pro Corded Stick Vacuum is much quieter and very stronger in terms of suction than ANY vacuum I've ever owned. I went from 45 minutes of vacuuming to 15 minutes, WHAT A GREAT IMPROVEMENT ! Honestly haven’t had any major complaints about the vacuum. We do have kids so we use it probably every other day to 2 days. It’s a compact vacuum which is a plus. The one tiniest complaint I’d have is after going back and forth a couple times there are some items that you would think the vacuum would pick up, but doesn’t. Instead, I use the detachable wand for those odd pieces. I should clarify, the vacuum has picked up 99% of what is seen on the carpet. It’s just those random odd stragglers and it doesn’t happen every time. As for our tiles, I just use the wand to pick up anything necessary then jet swift it but that’s a different product.GL

To start off I would have to say that the Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum is a high quality performing product. There is very great suction when it comes to pet hair and even popcorn in the carpet that my child had spilled. The spinning brush is adjustable to many settings. Such as bare floor to higher profile carpet. It does a great job of pulling dirt and hair out of my medium profile carpet. It isn't to heavy so when I use the extended hose handle I can carry it from place to place. One thing in was not a fan of was the multi dusting piece. It was a little to bulky to fit into my window seal to get that dirt out. The smaller end was also not long and thin enough to fit into my dryer vent. The dusting piece also added extra unnecessary bulk. It is a nice concept but it isn't as great as the individual pieces. Other than my opinion on the duster, I really enjoy and love my Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum. If you are contemplating this purchase, I recommend you try this product. Other than marrying my ex husband, buying this vacuum was the worst decision of my life. It is bulky and cheap plastic. Extremely loud and makes my arm go numb from all of the vibration! It has a "hardwood" setting but the brush still spins in that setting, which can scratch the hardwood. I was excited about the pet brush attachment, but is doesn't really work since the attachment will NOT stay on the hose or in the attachment holder, for that matter. It does not have much suction, I feel running a lint brush over the carpet would pick up more! I won't even give this vaccum away because I wouldn't want anyone to hate me!BBB Customer

We purchased the Shark corded stick model at Target a few years ago. At first it was great, and I recommend it for smaller houses or apartments since it's lightweight and small. It's powerful for its size. But it's not super durable. From what I've read, Shark doesn't make many replacement parts and there aren't many opportunities to repair their products. After about 2 years, several important parts were broken, including the hinge holding the dust cup together. We've been using packing tape to hold together the dust cup, and we have to cut off the tape to empty it and then re-tape it shut every time. Also the main little interior hose at the bottom that connects the head to the stick cracked wide open. The brush gets wrapped with long hair easily. The suction is pretty bad now, probably because of all these issues. Overall pros: It's great on wood floors, good on rugs, and works well while it lasts. Lightweight and easy to maneuver and carry up stairs. I like the attachments and they're easy to use. Long cord. Bagless is more environmentally friendly, although it's best to empty it into a plastic bag anyways. It's a good deal when it's on sale for $100. Overall cons: Doesn't stand up on its own. Cheaply made. The dust bin is really small. It's a hassle to empty the dust bin because you have to unplug the whole vacuum and carry the entire cord out to the trash can with you to empty the cup. Also, bagless vacuums just seem dirtier to me since the dust and hair isn't actually contained. It's always gross emptying it and trying to avoid the cloud of crap flying up at you. It is amazing honestly. We vacuumed our carpets with our old Shark right before we went to Target to look for a new one. We came home and vacuumed again over all of it. The canister filled up TWICE. I was mortified lol. This vacuum has powerful suction and harder tips on the roller that RAKE the carpet and get the film of dog hair out of my thick plush carpeting. I’m not lying. If I was unimpressed, I would tell you so! You DO have to empty the canister more than you would any other vacuum because it is small. If you are continuously vacuuming every room in your house and not emptying, you are going to put extra stress on the motor. It IS a stick vacuum. If you need heavy duty, 5-6 rooms at a time vacuuming, this isn’t your vacuum. I had to empty after EACH room because my vacuum obviously wasn’t doing its job. But I expect next time I won’t (I hope) because I will be pulling out the vacuum daily and keeping the dirt to a minimal in general. I really wanted cordless but my man insisted he didn’t want to deal with battery issues. I’ve never had a cordless and I just wanted one so bad. Cords irritate me and get in my way lol. But this purchase was good. So far I am very satisfied. I will definitely come back and redo my review if I feel like my opinion has changed in a couple months. I’ve had this vacuum for 4 years. Here are my thoughts: PROS 1. Good suction, still finds dust and dirt and pet hair 2. Lightweight and really low profile so you can vacuum under things easily 3. Price is amazing for the quality 4. No bags and all the filters I can clean out on my own and reuse. Huge cost and environmental savings. 5. Easy and fast detach / attach for getting corners and using the tools that come with it. 6. Dust bin opens easily and smart so I can hold it over the trash and won’t get dust everywhere. Less messy to empty than others. CONS 1. Corded 2. Hose broke down in head where it bends and flexes as you vacuum, I noticed it at year 3.5, so I had to replace that segment of hose (had holes/cracks in it). I purchased a hose at Home Depot and found some instructions online. Overall it was moderately hard to replace. 3. Suction does not adjust when you vacuum over rugs like the expensive name brand competitor so I have to stand on one end to hold the rug down due to the suction wanting to pickup the rug. 4. Doesn’t sit upright, must lean against a wall when it’s not hanging on the wall given it is too heavy. If you pause during vacuuming to pick something up etc. the thing may fall down while leaning against the wall. Takes a bit of experience to get the perfect, no-fall lean figured out.jessica.b

After a short time of use, I was left slightly unimpressed by this vacuum. I own a similar vacuum by a different manufacturer and there are many features it has, that I wish this Samsung Jet vacuum had, such as a telescoping wand, a spare battery, a stand-alone charging stand, and a bottom emptying dust canister. What I loved the most about this vacuum was how extremely lightweight it is, the suction power, and the low profile vacuum head. I was very disappointed with the battery life of this vacuum, and I also found the pet hair tool (mini motorized tool) to be a mostly useless, battery draining tool. The low profile vacuum head and its powerful suction makes for an excellent vacuum on non-carpeted floors and it picks up pet hair really well. Unfortunately, the tiny wheels on the vacuum head made it difficult to vacuum carpet, which is disappointing for my household since it's a mixture of hardwood and carpet. (It just didn’t glide smoothly across carpet, especially at the higher suction settings.) Additionally, while the low profile vacuum head allows for vacuuming of tight spaces, it really limits the debris size that can be vacuumed up. There are three power levels to vacuum at, low, mid, and max. The mid level does ok but I definitely preferred running the vacuum on the max setting. Unfortunately running at the max significantly reduced the runtime of the vacuum to about 7 minutes, and with only one battery included, this means you're out of luck until it recharges. I did like using the vacuum to reach high spots around the house that tend to collect dust and cobwebs. The light weight of the vacuum and the extension crevice tool made it easy to get to those hard to reach areas without having to pull out a step stool. This is where the lightness of the vacuum really shined, as I was able to go around the entire house vacuuming corners and vents without my arm ever getting tired from holding the vacuum up in the air. Overall, after several days of use, I feel that the performance of this vacuum is just ok / average, especially compared to others on the market. There is definitely room for improvement. The Samsung Jet 60 Pet Cordless Stick Vacuum is really lightweight and easy to use with only one hand. It comes with lots of accessories making it very versatile. All of the attachments have a button-click system making it very easy to attach or unattach the different accessories on the fly, so there’s no delay in your cleaning. The vacuum has adjustable suction power and decent suction even on lowest setting, but has even more power when you need it. This vacuum is absolutely great for cleaning those hard to reach places both high and low such as corners, under furniture, air vents, ceiling fans, and window blinds. The Jet 60 is convenient for vacuuming your car. For me, the greatest application for the Jet 60 is vacuuming the stairs. Not having to drag a full sized vacuum up and down the stairs is very nice. The product package states that the battery lasts up to 40 minutes. But when I use it on lowest power setting, I get about 24 minutes before the battery gives out. On full suction power, I only get around 6 minutes of charge. The battery charges quite slowly. After a small job of just a few minutes it takes around half an hour to recharge fully and after a job that depletes the battery completely it takes several hours to recharge fully. This means that it’s really not useful for a whole house cleaning, for that you probably need a corded vacuum. But if you had a small apartment or dorm room it might work fine. Otherwise, it’s mainly useful for spot cleaning and small cleanup jobs like vacuuming the stairs or your car. The dust collection bin is a reasonable size given the battery life, you are likely to run down the battery before the bin is full. The bin consists of 3 parts, one of which is a HEPA filter, and is easy to detach, empty, and clean by rinsing with water. There is a jet of air that comes out of both sides of the vacuum. I mention it because I have experienced these jets blowing dust up into the air while cleaning in especially dusty areas or when vacuuming near loose papers, like on a desk, the papers can get blown around. Overall, the Samsun Jet 60 works quite well, but my biggest complaint is the lack of battery life. I’ve owned other cordless vacuums and getting around 24 minutes of charge time is actually pretty good in comparison.Mkru

Samsung really knocked it out of the park with this little guy. Between my wife and I, we actually enjoy vacuuming. We've even had competitions to see who can clean the most before the battery runs down! It's substantially more than I expected for the size of the battery, you can get a few rooms lightly soiled carpeted rooms in! Not just using it at the lowest speed either! (I'm not sure where Samsung gets the "up to 40mins" number, but I think you'd have to be not using any powered attachments, and at the lowest setting to get close to that, caveat aside, it lasts enough for a quick clean on an average house floor or more!) I also was not expecting it would actually pick up much more than an older hand vacuum that happens to have a long wand/sweeper attachment. It actually functions as a "main" vacuum if you're a frequent cleaner, as it handles deeper messes in a carpet that I was not expecting it to even come close to pulling up all the way. (dog and people hair plus some tracked in dirt/sand that was stepped in, took a few passes, but still managed) It's also not excessively loud, my infant daughter is most intrigued by it and watches us intently, whereas she was frightened/we had to put some hearing protecting on her if we wanted to use our "big" corded vacuum. The ONLY downside I have to this vacuum is the charging/mounting unit, which is why I gave it 4/5 instead of 5/5. Some folks do not want to mount a vacuum and just want it hidden in a closet until use, with a battery charger in the corner maybe out of the way. Vacuum worked in steaks so you have to run it over the same spot over and over to get the whole even just a small area. The pet hair attachment broke pretty quickly after purchase. The accordion tubing connecting the arm tore in multiple places, we had to tape it repeatedly to retain suction because it kept breaking in different places. We have two huskies and vacuum like 2-3 times a week so it’s not like we used it incessantly. The final straw was another broken spot in the tubing which then kept disconnecting from the handheld attachment. Overall, did not stand up to any normal wear and tear, not sustainable for the price. You will be amazed how much your previous vacuum has missed once you start using this wonder. We have two cats and three dogs-a golden retriever and border collie who are shed machines-and I seemed to be constantly chasing hair tumbleweeds. The first time I used the vacuum on my 9x7rug, I had to empty the canister twice. That would have been two bags with the last vacuum. Not only is our house now cleaner but our wallet a little fatter as we are not buying two boxes of bags a month. Plus the benefits for the upcoming spring allergy season. Really like all the attachments, helps get the job done. Needed a soft brush that was safe for my hardwood floors Greenworks covered that. Love the LED lights make it easier to see the missed spots. Super happy with performance & ease of operation, no cord to drag around. I have carpet and a dog, and the suction is great! Battery life is impeccable I can do the whole house on a single charge or more. I also like how dumping the waste bin scrapes along the filter so you can truly get it all emptied out. I cannot recommend this enough! Added bonus, the 24V lithium-ion battery (also included) can be used as a power bank for charging compatible devices such as phones and tablets. The promise is great, but the delivery of that promise is marginal. I have now purchased multiple Greenworks tools – trimmer, blower, lawn mower, drill and driver – and based on that experience, expected greatness from this cordless stick vacuum. I did not get greatness, just a shade above mediocrity. The battery life is much less than desired. I bought it in the hopes of a 45 minute use per charge, as advertised, but getting anywhere near that means you must run it on its minimal power. More important, though, the service at Greenworks absolutely STINKS! I have tried 5 times to call them (they don't provide an email option) and have been on hold 45+ minutes each time, and finally gave up. If most of the products weren't so good on their own, I suspect this company would have long ago gone out of business. In summary – try their tools if you want to go it alone. I LOVE DYSON. It’s been a love affair for @15 or so years. I had the V-6 and made an excuse that college child needed so I could get the V-11animal. No one in my house were allowed to use. It WAS my baby – empty nester at the time. I bought it shortly after it first came out so it has the screwed in battery. I needed a cordless vacuum that was able to pick up Belgian Malinois Shepard fur from H _ _ _, easy to use, lighter than a full vacuum BUT WORK AS WELL OR BETTER than a full-size – I have chronic back pain and fibromyalgia and numbness… Yes in my crazy perfect vacuum dream world this existed and it DID! Thanks Dyson! It checked EVERY box of my needs, well except price. It was the most I have ever spent on something for me but dang it I deserved it and NEEDED it. It has been absolutely incredible! I would have told you 2 years ago do whatever you need to and buy bc it has incredible suction, awesome holders for tools with wall mount and on pole, adjustable suction on torque floor tool, adjust able power – Eco for low dirt area, Auto and Boost for deeper and stronger suction. So those are PROS. CONS are you need to press trigger to power it so with my neuropathy in hands at times I cannot vac, need to remove any attachments to empty dirt bin, after @8-12 months the bin empty slide started to stick, and then at 2 years (WARRANTY EXPIRED) and @5 months it started to shut off and then turn on. Called customer support and and they did a video troubleshoot and said it’s the battery. Well no battery in stock. Actually ABSOLUTELY ZERO SPARE PARTS for my baby have been in stock for over a month now! A week or so later it stopped more and then shut down. Called again and told it was the cyclone part (a guy on YouTube had same exact issue but his warranty was still active) BUT NO PART available. He told me to call or go to my nearest Dyson service center. Well the nearest in @1.25hrs. away. I do not have a car – getting divorced so I took my Dyson V11 animal and he got our 25 y/o car worth about the same. He fought for my V11 which was honestly a no win – I don’t know what he was thinking. Lol Plus the service center when I finally reached a person said that maybe it’s the trigger and I could mail it in. I still haven’t decided bc why pay to ship something that there’s no parts for? I rarely ever leave reviews but this thing is great! This is my first Dyson purchase and I have a German Shepard mix who sheds constantly, this V11 handles his hair with ease. I love the flexibility to use it anywhere with the attachments that are included, my personal favorite is the mini motorized tool. The simple design makes it easy to clean and maintenance. This thing picks up dirt that you don’t even see, especially in carpets and area rugs. I am also one who cares about packaging and this thing is packaged perfectly. The only downside, like all electronics is the battery life. 5 to 6 minutes on boost mode is not enough for a vacuum of this cost. I would like to see Dyson sell an additional king power cord that can be used to power the vacuum directly more like a traditional vacuum if needed for those of us with bigger houses with lots of carpeted areas.Jxustin

After reading these reviews I can't help but think that these machines are designed to last for roughly 2.5 years. My machine did the exact same thing that others have written about. I purchased this machine back in January 2020, about a month ago it started cutting off during use. The cutting off started getting more frequently to the point where the machine stays on for about 2 seconds before cutting off which makes it inoperable. So I call the service center to be told that my machine is out of warranty as of January 2022 and a replacement motor will cost $116. It is really unfortunate that a $700 machine is designed to last 2.5 years before you have to put more money into it. The sad part about it is that most people will pay the $116 because you can not get a new decent vac for that price and secondly, you have already invested $700 in this machine. It is very disheartening, and I wish I would have went with a different brand.Trise

Love hate relationship with my vacuum. It’s very very verryyyy amazing at actually getting up all of the dirt, dust, food particles. It has great suction, and the attachments have nice features: a nice angled piece for corners and a great upholstery tool with the brushes on both sides that works FANTASTICALLY for pet hair!! The only thing I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT STAND … Why is the containment chamber sooooo small!! like I can only clean the stairs and upstairs hall have to empty, do 2/3 medium sized bedrooms. full. Living room and dining room. Have to empty it again!! if it’s too full like you try to squeeze in the last bit of the 3rd room you have to empty from top and bottom of the chamber which literally makes such a mess (making more stuff I have to vacuum sad face) and on top of that as cool as the really long detachable from the body tube is , stuff gets stucckkkk like soo baddd!!! Omg it’s unbearable at times I have to use a really long wire coat hanger that I have It’s ridiculous lol so yeah love hate relationship it vacuums so well though that honestly I just deal with it especially bc this vacuum is super cheap it was $160 at Target and $175 on Amazon delivered with warranty included so worth it! And I even contacted them the first time I had the issue tube clogging issue and they replaced it but the same thing still happens I’m sure it’s just from being extended and then retracted the stuff just gets stuck and builds up. I have owned a few different vacuum cleaners , made by different manufacturers over the last few years . And each one has lasted barely over a year. Now I'm not a person who vacuums multiple times in a week. Honestly , I may vacuum once every 2-3 weeks. So the old ones didn't crap the bed due to being over used. Before buying this fantastic vacuum , I did my due diligence and did a lot of research and read a ton of product reviews. By far I felt that this Shark vacuum was the best fit for me and I was right. This vacuum is okay. I broke my other Shark Navigator, the NV586 purple one, about a year ago and needed a quick replacement so I thought this one would be just as good. It was not. It was fine but really just not powerful enough to handle my 4 kiddos and two pets. So I went looking for an upgrade and I am coming back to write a review finally becuase I recently purchased the new Shark Vertex DuoClean (AZ2002) and OMG I never knew what I was literally missing. One single pass over an 8×10 rug and the DuoClean picked up more dirt and hair than any other vacuum I have ever owned. No exaggeration, I think I picked up years worth of nasty that I had no idea was still in there. As a bonus, it also glides over the hardwood floors picking up everything instead of scattering it like other vacuums and now I am also throwing away my brooms. After owning three Sharks and one Dyson, I would recommend the DuoClean forever. So the NV360 is fine for single folks with no pets or kids who also don't need to do hardwood floors, otherwise watch for a sale and snag the new DuoClean.Karilyn82

absolutely hate it! For one its very top heavy so doesn't stand up on its own. They do give you an option to purchase the hang hook. The only good thing is without the floor piece it works great. But only comes with 2 extensions which are very short and can't use hand held within without the wand because the dust cup gets in the way. The price you pay is definitely not worth it. Especially since you have to buy the hang hook and any extenders separately off shark website. Bottom line buying a hand held vacuum does the same job without all the "extra" add on's.BS

This vacuum is the best lightweight one I have ever had. I was skeptical because of its size. I wasn't sure it would have the suction or maneuverability I wanted, but it's great. It is totally true that hair will not get wrapped up on the roller bar. The ability to get around and under furniture is just what I needed. You can lift off the handle for a long handled device or a short one to clean furniture or up high. Easy to empty dust cup is a bonus. If I had anything negative to say it would be that I wish it came with more tools.Janet

This vacuum is everything I wanted and more! It's lightweight which makes it easy to manuver. I can't say enough about the Zero M brush roll!! Phenomenal! I have 20 inch long hair with 3 cats and after 6 months of daily use I haven't had to cut a single hair from the roller! That in itself makes this unit worth every penny! The suction… Out of this world!!! It takes up very little space. You can purchase a clip for wall storage or store it on the attached clip on the wand. Cord is quite long so a lot can be accomplished before repositioning somewhere else. I love that it can go from floor to overhead in seconds, convert to a handvac, and back to floors in a flash! Two brush roll speeds let you move from hard floors and area rugs to higher pile carpet with the flip of a switch. The fact that this unit features washable filters is just icing on the cake! This vacuum is tailored to pet owners with its tangle free roller, air powered attachment, and bag free design. Having used several competing bag less vacuums, I can say this vacuum functions well but does have some downfalls which likely come from its price point. In the Box: – Vacuum – Air powered brush attachment – Extension Usage: The vacuum is very easy to setup and start to use. One feature I noticed immediately is the power button and brush roll switch is located on the top of the vacuum assembly itself and not on the handle. This also means the handle does not have power running to it for attachments or anything else that might be powered like other brands. I do not like the fact you have to bend over each time you want to turn it on/off but it is nice to have a dedicated brush roll switch. The vacuum is very easy to detach from the base so you can use it in a portable fashion for tight spaces or in situations where you don’t need the base. The vacuum seems to have a lot of suction but it appears that it might be picking up some of the carpet fibers as well. I think all vacuum do this to some degree but this one seems a little excessive. The canister design also doesn’t allow for quite as much to be picked up before being considered “full” so emptying may be required a little more often. I am not a fan of the air powered brush attachments but it is nice to come with one at all but powered ones are much better but also found on more expensive vacuums. Loved it at first. Used it on both wood and carpet floors, carpeted stairs, couches…you name it and the vacuum did a superb job. Sucked up dirt, crumbs, dust, dog hair. I did wish the bar extended to make it easier to clean ceiling fan blades. But I liked being able to wash the filters and cans instead of having to buy costly replacements. Sounds like a 5 star review…. But… It didn’t even last a year. No idea what happened. I was vacuuming a room and the lights in the room started flickering then the brush stopped and never started. I checked the belts and cleaned the rollers and filters and the brush still never turned back on. I took it to a vacuum repair store months ago and was told the part that needs replacing is impossible to find. I’ve tried myself to find it and can’t find it anywhere. Without the brush rolling, this thing makes more of a mess on carpets, just pushes around clumps of dog hair and dirt. What a waste of money and HUGE disappointment. My husband purchased this for me as I didn't feel my older vacuum was doing a good job anymore. I am a 'clean freak' and, as a result, have owned plenty of vacuums throughout my life (Kirby, Oreck, etc.). Let me tell you, THIS vacuum is the best money ever spent! The carpet in our apartment was several years old and matted down when we moved in eight years ago. Nothing I've tried made it look much better. Not until this vacuum worked its magic! It agitates while sucking through the carpet, padding and concrete below. Seriously! The first few times I used it, I was dumb-founded by how much filth was sucked up and I vacuum a LOT. If that weren't enough, this thing also fluffed all the matted pile up again after about the third go round. NO vacuum I've ever used did that! It's super easy to use and light-weight. I have it set on the lowest carpet pile setting and I have no problem at all maneuvering it anywhere I want it to go. One would think with this level of suction, it would be difficult to push, but rest assured, this is not the case. If you're 'on the fence', jump off and buy this already!BobH

But I'm truly disappointed and regret my purchase. It's been 4 years now and this vacuum is worthy of hauling to the dump; literally. I've replaced ALL filters regularly and kept the vacuum clean. I actually take it apart and wash all washable components in the sink to keep it clean. Still, I have to go over a clump of lint or piece of fur 2-3 times before the vacuum will pick it up. NO, it's not clogged; it's perfectly clean. Just overrated and poor quality. This has been a complete waste of time and money. I love the design and suction power so far! The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is, there was hair that wrapped around the rollers inside the turbo brush attachment and around the vacuum cleaner rollers itself. This happened fairly quickly. In fairness it was human hair, but the product does claim to have brushes that bypass hair. I was glad to see that the hair was easy to remove, unlike other vacuum cleaners where you have to use a knife or scissors to get all of it loose. Also, I felt that the attachment wand could be longer. I went ahead and ordered the Telescoping Extension wand from the Bissell site, but I felt with the price, it should already have an extra extension. With our dog and our new baby all over the floor, we were getting much more worried about fur everywhere. I have a very good vacuum and hand vac already, but the vacuum is heavy and cumbersome and my back is not built for vacuuming the floor with a hand vac. This vacuum was a perfect addition to our home because it is light weight and portable, like the love child of the two vacuums we already had. It is also quiet, so I can vacuum the baby's arena everyday while she naps without waking her up. I feel silly since this in addition to so many other vacuums, but I didn't have the energy to pull out the big one on a daily basis, especially trying to get under furniture and plugging it into different outlets to reach the whole house. My Bissell is not as powerful, but I use it daily so the fur doesn't accumulate and it is better for our lifestyle. And since it has the hand vac attachment, I could have bought just this one instead of my previous two. Oops! Highly recommend, would buy again in a heartbeat. I greeted the Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum with curious skepticism. Having used several vacuums in the past I knew the benefits and drawbacks of corded and cordless vacuums. I tried a Eureka cordless vacuum in the past and the battery took over 12 hours to charge for just 15-20 minutes of vacuuming power, with the suction power being extremely light. I also had a cordless vacuum by Puweike which constantly fell down because I didn't mount the stand against the wall as I had mostly dry wall in my place. I prefer cordless vacuums because even though the corded vacuums owned by Hoover and Oreck offer more power, they are a pain to move from room to room due to having to constantly disconnect and reconnect the cord. The Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum addressed all of these concerns and offered some unexpected surprises. This vacuum took less than one minute to assemble with only two parts to put together. I only had to charge the battery for four hours until it was ready to use. Upon charging it, I noticed the vacuum stands upright, so there is no need to add any mounted stand to the wall as it can be stored anywhere. I also love that I could turn on the brush roll on carpet and off on the hardwood to prevent scratching. The suction is extremely powerful to pick up even the smallest crumbs and I couldn't believe how easy it is to maneuver with the handle folding to get under the sofa. There is a huge bonus to this vacuum as well with the detachable middle which becomes a handheld vacuum for sofas and chairs. Another bonus is the brush and crevice tool for corners and upholstery. The dirt bin is so easy to empty and put back in the vacuum as well. I would recommend the Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum to all my friends and family. This lightweight cordless vacuum is exactly what I needed. I have a good sized 1 bedroom apartment that I share with a cat. A few rooms have area rugs and the rest is all vinyl flooring. I am constantly fighting a battle against cat hair, litter particles, and dust. And losing, until now. This is a dream on my vinyl floors and low pile rugs. I have a large thick pile rug in the living room that this does not work so well on. The suction makes it hard to use when going against the grain of the rug so I use it everywhere else and get the old vac out for that one spot. It’s what I intended to do anyway so I didn’t take off a star. I think it’s swivel makes maneuverability fantastic. The battery works great, assembly was quick and super easy, it’s small and sits upright in a corner charging. It came with three handy attachments for with using the hand vac. I love every Shark product I've owned or gifted to someone else so had high expectations for this stick vac. I have been searching for a good robot vacuum for quite a long time since I'm unable to manage heavy vacuuming any more but none of the independent review articles give high marks to a robot that fits my needs so I turned to light stick vacs for a solution. I love this product. It meets my high expectations for a Shark and with daily 10 minute use on high traffic areas I can keep up with shedding from my medium haired cat in the carpet. The cord is long enough to cover the area and at my age, a cord doesn't bother me at all. The unit and accessories are stored in a closet without an outlet so a cordless vac isn't practical for me. If I have any criticism it's the size of the canister. One does have to take into account the reason I made this purchase, a super lightweight vac to clean cat hair from my carpet, and it makes perfect sense. I simply attach a small trash bag to carry with me in case I need to empty the canister.Shelley

Easy to carry, lightweight. I really do love this vaccum. It has pulled up a lot of dirt and hair from the carpets my rainbow couldn't pick up. I mainly have hard wood floors throughout my house now, with 1 carpeted area and a couple rugs. It's been very handy and picks up a lot. Cons: It lost suction after a year because the tube in the main basehead had cracked with normal use. Customer service could only offer to sell me the main basehead for over 75% of what I paid for the vacuum. This particular part, the tube; is not listed on Shark's website as a "wearable part" nor available. So I wonder why it is not covered by the 5 year limited warrenty? This is the main complaint I have read about that has happend to many others who also purchased the Shark Rocket. I had to do some searching for a tube replacement and we finally found one, then replaced it ourselves. If you do buy this vaccum, I would reccomend paying for extra coverage from the store purchase at as the 5 year limited warrenty is usless for this particular part and issue.Asp84

My husband bought this Shark Rocket for me in hopes of replacing my Dyson Animal with something lighter for quick, daily vacuuming, but it’s not up to the task. First of all, though the Rocket isn’t as big or as heavy as my old vacuum, all of its weight is at the top; the dust bin and motor are connected to the hand-hold, which means my wrist and hand have to support the bulk of its weight. Because the weight isn’t distributed, the small brush is unwieldy – too light to easily control regardless of how much pressure I attempt to push it with. I’m not a weakling, lol, but my arm gets tired FAST. Secondly, there is no way to turn off the roller brush and use just suction on hard surfaces. I have to move really slowly in sweeping the hardwoods, or else the Shark spits crumbs and other debris out the back. Moving slowly = holding the heavy motor/dust bin/handle for longer = even more tired hand/wrist/shoulder. Speaking of the roller brush, it clogs with dog hair and stops rolling after ONE pass over the 5×7 area rug in our seating area; I have to turn off the vacuum and cut the hair from the brush at least four times just in sweeping the one rug (we have two dogs, but I sweep every day, so I’m not asking it to vacuum a week’s worth of hair at once). It’s VERY frustrating. More negatives about this Shark Rocket: 1. It doesn’t stand on its own. If I need to stop sweeping in the middle of the job for any reason, I have to lay the vacuum on the floor, or prop it up against a piece of furniture. I still haven’t figured out how to store it. 2. The cord is also attached to the handle, and gets in the way of dumping the dust bin. 3. The attachments are difficult to use because they attach to the motor/dust bin/handle piece either directly or via a 12” hose, meaning I have to continue to hold the heaviest part of the vacuum while trying to manipulate the tools. 4. Though the brush part of the vacuum is small enough to adequately sweep the carpeted steps, I have to either lift the whole thing up, turn it backwards, and dangle the brush in front of the risers, or fight with the inconvenient and unwieldy attachments to get those areas. I’d say it takes twice as long for me to sweep using this than it does the old, clunky Dyson – definitely not making my life easier. I actually hate this vacuum, and would have returned it after the first use had my husband not thrown out the box it came on. Two hundred bucks for this useless thing.OhioMichelle

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review from #bzzagent. The Bissell Poweredge vacuum was easy to put together out of the box. The suction power is good and I like the accessories it comes with. I was really disappointed that this vacuum does not have an LED light! For over $200.00 you would assume it would. That feature alone would not make me want to purchase this. Also I don't like the fact you have to mount the vacuum to the wall to store it. It should have the option to fold in half. This Bissell PowerEdge Cordless Vacuum is amazingly very satisfying to use! It has never fail me every time I use it. It cleans up really good, has a great suction and it also gets the edges well. It's lightweight and super easy to maneuver. We have two dogs that sheds a lot and small kids so we have an endless clutter. I had put off purchasing a cordless vacuum after using a couple big name / expensive cordless vacuums. But I read the reviews and decided to order this one. I wasn't completely sold until I used it and I was pleasantly surprised by the power, the size of the dust cup, attachments, how quiet it is, movability of the swivel head and the overall great job it did!!! I have one large dog and two cats, so it needs to do a good job. Compared to the other brands it is about half the price and twice the machine!!!shunt365
