The Anova Vacuum Sealer is very compact, lightweight, and easy to use. We are having so much fun using it by buying value packs of meat on sale and breaking the packages down into meal portions. Vacuum sealers don't last long at my house. I don't think I'm particularly rough with them. I just think the pumps suck and not in the good way. I spent over $200 on the last one and when it burnt out, so did I. I really didn't want to buy another one. Well then I got a sous vide and found out rather quickly that I needed another vacuum sealer… Since vacuum sealers don't last long at my house, I decided to go cheap and found this one on sale. At around 1/4 the price of my last one, why not. But I didn't expect much. What a pleasant surprise this machine has been. This thing has been a dream to use. The pump has been excellent and the sealer works great every time. I have had no problems with this machine and it's small size makes it easy to put away. I am happier with this machine than I was with the last 4 name brand units I had. For bags i went online and bought a couple different sized bulk packs of generic pre made bags. There are cheaper sealers out there, but they have mixed reviews. The cheaper sealers on Amazon may have 5 star reviews but if you look closely it appears that the companies give some kind of perk for leaving a 5 star review. This sealer is middle of the road pricing but I think it’s worth paying a little more to get this sealer. It got a great seal every time on chicken breasts, ground beef, short ribs, and pork chops. This has been perfect during the pandemic where sometimes you don’t always get the best selections. It says it will keep meat fresh for up to two years but I would hope I would never have a piece of meat in the freezer that long! I recommend for really juicy meats like chicken to pat them down with a paper towel before sealing – the juice will ruin the seal and make a mess. I also recommend buying a roll of bags with this sealer as it only comes with 10 and they go fast!TXTrumpet

Have had our unit for 1 1/2 yrs. Began as total newbie to dehydration & vacuum-sealing. So-o-o easy to do with this unit. Am currently eating awesome winter soups from the sealed dehydrated garden goodies from past Spring/Summer. Well worth the money based on personal experience and dehydration/sealing classes I've attended where others showed their sealer units & stories. Vacuum sealing was a hit with it's ability to extend storage life of foods that are dehydrated, etc. Have and will continue to recommend this Weston Pro 2300.Aunt B

We bought the Weston 2600 to replace a top of the line Foodsaver model that didn't last 4 years. We fish a lot and raise our own meat birds every year so we needed something a little sturdier that can be repaired instead of replaced. From the first seal it was obvious this is a better built machine. The seals are significantly thicker and the vacuum power is impressive. Our only issue is having to wait 20 seconds between seals. It sounds silly, but when you're on a roll and you're processing 30 birds, 20 seconds feels like a long time. It's expensive, but worth it in the long run if it's the last one I have to buy. The cons? Storing it is a pain as it takes up a lot of space and is heftier than the Foodsavers.Geetie

I had another vacuum sealer which I gave away, just the weight of this machine is meant to say it means business (just a bit over 11 kg). After a small problem with a loose wire, the Avid Armor USVX is working great. It's nice to be able to seal meats and other cooked items without having to freeze them first as I did with my old Foodsaver system. Also, the first seal does it. I don't have to seal the same bag 2 or 3 times to get a good seal as I did with the Foodsaver. The capacity of USVX and the light weight (18 lbs) were also very acceptable to me. All the others were double the weight or much more and would be difficult to store and pull out of a cabinet. Also I prefer the preset times for vacuum and seal. I know myself and thought I'd spend too much time and waste too many bags with option of setting number of seconds for each. My only reservation was the lack of replacement parts, but as it's a new model, I'm hoping they will be available long before they're needed.Bob W.

I love this little chamber vacuum sealer! The sleek design takes up much less room than the other designs I researched! My very first order of business was to create some smaller bags out of the ones included with the USVX to vacuum seal my oxygen absorbers into much smaller quantities and that was a breeze! It will vacuum seal pint size jars and smaller right in the chamber! I borrowed my son's FoodSaver jar attachment kit to see if it would work for quart size and larger jars! I was able to attach the hose included with the USVX into the female end of the hose that came with the FoodSaver jar kit and it worked like a champ! Because I always worry about a random defect in a jar, I may purchase the canister set from Avid Armor to seal my quart size jars as I have been assured by support at Avid Armor that the canister set is compatible with the USVX!Kerri G.

Hey you, Avid Armor USVX. I have a crush on you. You haven't failed me once, not in the quick pickles, not in teriyaki infused pork, not in hydrating my pizza dough. I even built a contraption for you. Yes, you! A double walled 3.5 gallon bucket system that I used to externally marinate. Yesterday was my first day, it works perfectly and I plan to do some big batch marinates in the bucket, including wings. I got the idea from MagicChef's gastronorm, but mine is bigger and cost $20. I also wish you came with a few different length of hoses. I would LOVE to work for Avid Armor because this is the best kept secret and honestly, there isn't a lot of information out there about utilizing chamber sealers. The experiments are fun, but thank you USVX for being so much better than a way more expensive other brand model that I returned.Jon L.

Bought this vacuum dealer cause it said commercial sealer. I haven't even had it a year and it no longer vacuums. And no we are not heavy sealers. Used maybe 10 times. If this is supposed to be a commercial rated don't waste your money not worth it.Sharon

This is a great vacuum sealer. I originally purchased a Foodsaver, but ended up returning it after 2 weeks. It did not hold a seal when sealing things like brown sugar. Air would come back into the bags after 2 weeks of being sealed. This sealer works like a charm. No air coming back into the bags after sealed, and you can make your own double seal with it. Dont waist your money on Foodsaver. Nesco is so much better. It is also made in America, which means a lot.Gail

I purchased this vacuum sealer by Nesco over a year ago and am very pleased with it. I have only used the Nesco sealer bags as they are the correct thickness and have a special texture that helps with the vacuuming. I believe other bags will work but since I haven't had any issues I chose to repurchase the Nesco bags. One technique I realized that has helped me with sealing the bags, especially for breads and wet foods, is that I first vacuum a small amount of air out of the set bag, press cancel and then seal. This allows you to make the vacuuming adjustable without flattening the food or causing any liquids to overflow. We just used our vacuum sealer to seal almost all of our food items for a weekend of boating. No more ruined food! Even though the ice melted all the food items were protected. I made several portion sizes – family, 2 person and snack and opened them up with a handy gift wrap cutting tool I already had. In addition to keeping the food fresh from the salt air and dry from the melted ice, vacuum bags also reduced the volume of your packed goods. I would also like to note that I tested 2 methods of freezing bread- one using a resealable plastic bag and one using a vacuum sealer bag. After a few days I opened, smelled and tasted a slice of bread from each. The vacuum sealed bread tasted fine, while the other one smelled and tasted like freezer.MaureenlovestheLord

W That depends! I always save the sous vide bags– wash them out (dishwasher safe inside out) and try to re-use for the same type of food (e.g. salmon, re-use a bag used to cook salmon, etc). I do not re-use a bag that has stored raw meat and not used for cooking (like if freezing a piece of meat). Usually I can get one or 2 other times out of a bag– but certainly not the 12 or so the company advertises. The bags will still seal, but may not vacuum seal after 2-3 times of use. However, if you read the recipe books, a vacuum seal is not always needed for food safety. I still like this system the best because the bags are very sturdy and I trust the composition as being food grade.I have never had one open up during cooking. I use these in conjunction with a Wolf multi-cooker with a sous vide setting. The only issue I have is that sometimes the bags will float, so I either put a spoon in the bottom prior to sealing, or place a metal utensil on top of the bag to keep submerged. But if using a pot with a circulator, one uses clips to keep bags from floating. I really love sous vide for chicken breasts, salmon, and cheaper cuts of beef. Be sure to order the multi size pack at first– then you can order the sizes you seem to use the mostrite your review here. It must be at least 10 characters long. Works quite well and is compact enough to store with minimal space. Easy to use buttons My only complaint is that the bags are very expensive. They are re-usable, but the seals take up space and reduce the amount of stuff you can put in them after every use. I found less expensive bags from another brand. Be sure to start sealing from the bottom so you don't impede the ability to add contents when you re-use.Lisa

HEAVY DUTY thats probably enough said right there. Plenty of YouTube videos on using it. For home use you will never wear it out. And probably not for commercial ether. Think of it like your fridge or stove, initial cost maybe high but after bag savings and being able to save food will make its money back. You can make larger volumes of soup, stew, store up bargains for later. I think it’s about the biggest seal volume for the price.David

Nice piece of equipment. Vacuumed venison dogs brats and bear. Work awesome. Also vacuumed butternut and buttercup squash and home made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Amazing. Gave 4 stars had to return the first machine after about 30 seals unit wouldn’t release vacuum. Called customer service walk through a few test and they decided to just exchange it for a new one. I bought this “Pro Series” vacuum sealer to upgrade from my 15+ year old Food Saver vacuum sealer (which still works great). I was thinking being a “Pro Series” it would work even better. WRONG. This “Pro Series” would barely pull the air out of the bag and most of the time would not seal. I tried everything to make this machine work but it continue to fail. After going to basspro.com and pulling up this vacuum sealer and reading the reviews I noticed many people having exact same issue with this machine. I called the manufacturer customer service who was only able to tell me it would be probably best just to return it to the store for a refund. Which I did. I find it pretty incredible that a 15 year old box store vacuum sealer still working great and out performs the Cabela’s pro series vacuum sealer. 1 star reviews are correct. 5 star reviews should check their seals. I used this to vacuum 20 packages. Everything looked good. A few days later, realized one of the bags was leaking. I was able to pull apart every single seal, very easily. I even used the extended sealing option with cabelas branded vacuum bags. I had a foodsaver brand from box store and practically wore it out. I only replaced my old one as it took longer to vacuum the bag. Wishing I still had it.jeremy2345

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. This sealer works awesome with high suction power and quick sealing. I tested this against a food saver 3000 and there was no comparison the Cabela's model beat it in sealing strength and sealing time by over a half of the time. The only good competition to this sealer is the Nesco Deluxe 12 which has pretty much the same features but does not come with the canister house like this model. Also the sealing time will still much better with this unit. One thing to note is make sure when you store this you do not clap the handle all the way down other wise you will deform the sealing platform and you will loose you ability to seal. I love that this came with the hose, storage bag and moister sticks. Great unit.Shockme66

Compared to the Food Saver they seem to be about equal but as soon as you start to use it the problems begin to show, locking top locks too tight and will not release as they say in manual and in the videos. We have many LEM products and all of them work great accept for this sealer. It does pull a very tight vac and deals great but every time we use it per the instructions it feels like the locking bar is going to break and will not release the catch bar and must be opened by pulling hard on the catch.Dwayne

This is a nice unit and it works fine. I was honestly expecting a little better for the price as I have had a Food Saver at half the cost that performed about as well. I am a bit disappointed that the vacuum power is not quite as strong as I had hoped and the sealer will not seal on the first attempt if there is the slightest amount of moisture or liquid in the bag. The lid latch is unnecessarily hard to close for arthritic hands like mine. On the positive side, the unit is pretty heavy duty, it is ready quickly after switching on. The bag feeder works well and it unit operates well. Overall I am happy with the unit but not the price.Steve

This was the 1st time I've been disappointed with a LEM product. I've got several other things of theirs and have had great service out of them. I've been using the bottom line food saver vaccum sealers for several years. Wore 1 out and the 2nd is almost there. Thought I would upgrade and get this 250 from LEM for us for Christmas. Made 25 lbs of sausage last night and cubed some steak with all LEM items. Couldn't wait for Santa to drop off the sealer so I could package the meat today. 1st thing I noticed was there was no tray or anything for moisture. Next I was surprised it came with an extra sealing bar. That is nice to have but makes me assume they don't think the original will last long. Next I started with food saver rolls I had already. The bag cutter will not slice them and it takes several tries to cut a bag. I switched to the lem rolls and had the same problem. Quicker to cut them with scissors or make them in my old food saver sealer. Next the cubed steak would not seal due to very light moisture. Even tried folding a paper towel in the mouth of the bag as suggested. Never had that problem before. Also it would not vaccum out near as much air as my old sealer on loose sausage or the steak so I have small air pockets in the packs. The stuffed sausage did ok as long as I dried it with a paper towel. Never had to do that before. This sealer definitely wastes more bag than my old one to make a seal. Does not hold bag well at all when you go to shut it to seal either. Have to adjust it often when closing door to seal. Pros were very few but it does look pretty good and when you do get the bag set it seals quickly, definitely not enough reasons to keep it. I will have it back where it came from tomorrow and hopefully they will refund me for it. If not it will be sitting by the trash can out front of sportsman's warehouse. I was able to try this and had high hopes that were easily let down. This is a sealer but isn't a vacuum sealer unless you buy additional accessories that aren't included. Pros are that sealing did become easier after trial and error. The inch markers on the premade and to be made bags were helpful. We found that 7 inches worked best for chicken patties and premade hamburgers. It's helpful to have the black cutter to the right before cutting. Bags can be stored on the bottom. I found that feature to be okay because it can be a bit bulky on the counter. Speaking of counter, I wish the cord was longer and centered. It sits to the left on the back of the unit. The sealer does have a helpful lock lever to the front right side but you have to figure out where the best part is to rest your fingers while holding onto the bag while sealing. There is a built in date coder which is helpful but wish it were larger and had the ability to include the year. It's best to stick with a Sharpie to label. There are some safety features which are nice as in the light up display to let you know the status of when the seal is ready which took 9 to 10 seconds. There are 2 beeps that let you know it's ready to open. Overall yes, it does seal but doesn't vaccum seal unless you buy additional pieces.Adans5

I absolutely love this NutriFresh vacuum sealer! It’s fun and exciting to use as well. The process can be quite confusing at first especially for someone who has never used one. There are precut, bottom sealed bags and a roll of large and small bags that are not precut. The inside of the unit has a place to store the rolls as well as a tool to cut them to the size you need. I love that you can store the bags inside! It is so much easier to find them and also is way more convenient since the bags are already right there inside. You have to cut and seal the end of a bag from the roll before placing any food inside. With the roll bags you have total control over the length of the bag because you decide where to cut it. Once you have the bag placement in the little ditch (easiest way to describe it) it works very well at vacuum sealing. The machine is quite loud but it’s easy to get use to. There is a feature to lock the lid down which keeps the bag inside the unit. It’s much easier sealing food without having to hold the bag as well. The only thing I didn’t care for is the date stamper. It’s wonderful that I can add a date and have it on the bag without having to write it but it’s very difficult to see. It’s imbedded into the bag and it’s small. Half the time I wasn’t cutting the bag correctly enough where the date needed to be to be seen in the colored area of the bag. Or felt like my bag was too long and being wasteful just so I’d have the date space in the correct spot inside the machine just so I could better read it. It also was put on the back of the bag accidentally. I’ll probably stick to writing the dates because it’s far more legible. This machine also includes a hose to vacuum seal liquids. This food sealer is wonderful to have in my house. I love vacuum sealing all my frozen food and placing it in my deep freezer. I feel like it’s more organized and nicer looking! This handy little appliance has been a welcome addition to our home. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Once I got it put together o became vacuum seal happy. I didn't find it too loud and it has great suction power. I use this to freeze raw meat, cooked foods and to infuse foods with marinade. It's quick, easy and efficient. Loading the bags is easy also. We have saved tons of money in our house just by being able to freeze foods.MrsCamieT

I got this for my husband. He works at a factory that makes cheese and they gifted him with a 10 pound brick of cheese. He wanted to break it down into smaller portions and keep it in good condition. He loves this! He is vacuum sealing everything he can get his hands on now. He enjoys the multi use of this sealer. The roll holder and cutter he loves. And he loves that you can seal the bags in a traditional manner. But his favorite is the resealable bags with the sealer attachment. Unfortunately integration of dunction with electronics has declined reliability functional integration of performance resulting in failures; complicated by foodsaver not resolving over time. 2013 manufactured V4440 lasted less than 20 days before demonstrating this usage dysfunction. Much like the brand new last released foodsaver problem of shut down while in progress solved by Amazon reviewers fist hitting the top of the unit to re-engage cycle completion. I was really attracted to this smaller portable vacuum sealer, the bags and containers. After bringing the unit home, I charged it over night for 24 hours per the instructions. After about 30 hours, I tried to power the unit but it would not work. I continued to charge it for about 10 more hours but it still did not work. Lots of other issues, including poor customer service provided by FoodSaver 800 number and the packaging is absolutely terrible. With a pair of scissors, it took me 8-9 minutes to cut through the tough plastic package, which tends to cut you if you're not careful. Sorry I can't give the review a 0 (zero).Traveltillidie

They don't last. I'm now having to get my 6th one, returning the 5th one–which last 2 months. BUT-if you have invested in more than 100 reusable bags to save foods, you just keep returning & getting more, over & over again. My 1st vacuum was less than $10, now they're around $20. I have purchased two of these units and have decided they suck. Not in a good way by drawing the air out of the bag, but more in the sense that once the battery goes dead, it takes forever to charge back up and eventually will not recharge enough to use it a single time afterwards. I've used other FS products and regret ever getting this. I bought it because of the reusable bags but found that I had to go back to the orignial just to seal up the foods I wanted to freeze. If you don't mind buying a new one every few months, then go with this. Otherwise, pay for the more expensive models and not be frustrated by the sudden loss of power with the hand held device.13thFloor

I make a breakfast casserole that I seal into individual packages for a week’s worth of breakfast meals. This machine does not remove/vacuum the air out of the packages. My 15 year old machine does a better job. The first picture how’s the new machine that does not vacuum all the air out. The 2nd picture shows the tight seal. I’ve been using my FoodSaver vacuum sealing system for a few weeks now and I’m really enjoying it. I leave it out on the counter for convenience and because it doesn’t take up a lot of space relative to other small appliances on my countertop. The power cord is only 2 feet though, would prefer 2.5 or 3. It’s very easy to operate although there is a learning curve especially when it comes to making the correct bag size. Some of the best features are the one button operation and auto stop once vacuuming and sealing are completed. The power buttons and lid opening, operating, and storage are large and easy to read. I did have trouble sometimes with lining up the bag opening to allow the vacuuming to work. My #1 use is for lunch meat. I purchase or make whole turkey breast or ham then slice as needed for daily lunch sandwiches since we all make/take a lunch. I’ll slice a few days worth then seal the whole meat to last the next week. There is a handheld option for food saver bags which works really well and it’s easy. I plan to get the special food containers as well. It came with different size bags and a roll inside to make your own bags. You can also seal existing bags like potato chip but I didn’t seal them. It is a bit loud when vacuuming or using handheld. To me the biggest benefit is the food that won’t be wasted due to going bad too quickly and longer lasting freshness.Leevitt13

Works great right out of the box. It is so easy to use, not complicated at all. It latches down by pushing on each side – you have to exert some pressure, but nothing too difficult. It is small and very lightweight – easy to find a place for it on the coubnter. I ordered additional attachments, and am excited to see how well it works with those items. I am not planning to use it with anything messy, so I cannot comment on the cleanup factor.Nif

Got the Nutrichef PKVS18SL as a replacement for a competitor product that had inferior results and could not be happier. Sleek compact design with all the whistles and bells. Superior suction and I love the gentle mode for soft items such as romaine lettuce and avocado shells. I will utilize the cannister/tupperware function and like that it can be stored separately. The wine cork accessory is a nice addition. All said and done this product feels like it will stand the test of time.Jason O

What a piece of junk! I had never used a vacuum sealer before, so I didn't know exactly how to do it. The instructions are horrible! The heating element did malfunction after three months of use, but after contacting the manufacturer, I explained to them what has happen with the unit and they did not even bat a eye and had a replacement unit send out immediately. Great company & machine. I called on a Friday after closing and they answered the phone, answered a few questions I had about the machine and told me if I wanted one I needed to put my name on the list. I thought it over and went online and ordered. It took 3 weeks to get and I have no regrets. Machine came looking like it had just been boxed. Not a scratch even on the cardboard. It was strapped to a wood pallet with a box inside a box, wrapped in plastic & shrink wrapped. All it was missing was a big red bow on the top. Machine is fast to pull vacuum even without the filler plate. I am very pleased with the machine with only 1 upgrade it would be perfect…. Great customer service! Because of the the Covid cargo issues my VP 230 was scheduled 4 weeks out but it arrived several weeks earlier. It arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. It did take the whole bottle of oil to fill the reservoir. as the instructions said 3 – 3.5 ounces. The machine worked flawlessly, absolutely love it. Shipper was able to delay delivery by one day so that I could be present for delivery. Box showed up in good condition but the tip-and-tell was activated; I did not refuse shipment and luckily the vacuum machine was not damaged and it works great. I am a home-use sportsman and using a foodsaver was time consuming with marginal results. This machine seals bags one after the other with almost no down time, no fuss, no mess at all even when sealing in saltwater. I'm very happy with it. I've had one of these for 4 years. I've probably ran at least 10,000 bags through the chamber without complications. Very easy to understand. You can even do soups. The chamber pulls a vac on the whole chamber then seals bag and let's atmospheric pressure back to chamber and your bag collapse instantly. By not pulling out of the bag anything liquid is a go. The best part of it all the bags are dirt cheap compared to regular vac sealers. One thing to keep in mind. If you use a lot and the oil site glass gets cloudy, change the oil. Very inexpensive and fast. My buddy tore one up not changing the oil. To simple to overlook. The book explains it in detail. Highly recommended. Green beans fresh , corn left on the cob. Etc. Thank god for this cheaper alternative to a $1000+ machine. It works the same as a more expensive one. Perfect for a restaurant like mine that Vac-packs steaks and veggies for Sous Vide and storage. Chamber Vac's are the way to go for commercial kitchens. You wont be disappointed with this machine. My only complaint is it didn't come with instructions to put it together. There is a very small amount of assembly for the heat strip. Other then that, Its perfect.Mike H.

I like this machine because it does not require expensive special bags. No problem with adding marinade to the chicken wings shown in photo. The unit does not suck the air from the bag, air is removed from the chamber and the bag continues to appear to have air in it. Then the bag is sealed. For over a year I have been using the Water Immersion Method to avoid spending money on a legitimate vacuum sealer. This means that I have been simply lowering a Zip Lock bag full of food down into a pot of water. The pressure from the water pushes most of the air out of the bag – which is then zipped closed and clipped to the size of the pot (while the Sous Vide heats the water and slowly cooks the food). …The Immersion Method works alright, but this Vacuum Sealer works MUCH better. If you cook using a Sous Vide, or if you want to vacuum seal food to increase how long it lasts in the freezer – a vacuum sealer really is an absolute must! The device is easy to use and it can seal just about any bag or package in the house. You can re-seal bags of chips, bags of candy, and can even create a water tight seal in a Zip Lock bag. The machine actually creates a double heat seal that holds incredibly well! And, you can seal bag after bag without the device over heating. While you can re-seal just about anything – the machine isn't always able to suck the air out of random bags. The lid closes very tight which doesn't always allow for air to flow in-between the two layers of chip bags etc. The actual Anova vacuum seal bag material is textured which allows the air to be sucked out before the heat seal is activated. So, purchasing legitimate rolls of vacuum seal plastic definitely works best. The machine stores the entire roll inside the device and even has a safe blade that trims the bag to the desired size. The Anova Vacuum Sealer does have a manual vacuum button which helps if you are trying to seal a bag with liquid inside. But, even when the manual function – it can be difficult to ensure that liquid isn't sucked into the machine (which causes a mess and can interfere with the heat seal). If you do enjoy sealing meat with marinade – this machine will work better than most, but still isn't perfect. Tip 1: If you do want to seal a zip lock bag, leave the lid clamped down for a few extra seconds while the plastic cools down. If you open the lid right away, the zip lock back might melt apart and ruin the seal. The cons are rather minor, but I don't like that the handle used to clamp down the lid is made of glossy plastic which very quickly shows finger prints and smudges. I also don't like that there is no way to turn the device off when the lid is closed. We have young kids in the house and I would prefer to keep the Vacuum Sealer on the counter with the lid locked shut. But, when you close the lid, the buttons are activated. There is no on/off switch – so I end up unplugging it and storing it in-between uses. (The machine is pretty big, so it is probably not a good idea to leave it on the counter taking up space.) Tip 2: Make sure to leave a large amount of empty space at the top of the bag. If you attempt to vacuum seal a bag that is too short, the suction will cause the bag to crinkle and the the seal will not be air tight. When the heat seal activates, some air will flow back into the bag. Over all, my family has been truly impressed and I feel pretty foolish for trying to go so long without one. Sous Vide cooking is now easier and we can make sure that meat can be stored for longer periods without freezer-burn.TheDuke

I feel I should disclose I've never used a vacuum sealer before. This product is great quality. It includes a roll of bags that can be sealed at your own desired length, the separate tube attachment, instructions, and the power cord is attached to the body of the sealer. The instructions were honestly not useful to me. It's simply a collection of images of how to use the sealer. There are no written instructions and I could find no videos or how-to guides for this particular model. As far as choosing your bag size and sealing the bottom, it's super straight forward. You simply unroll the material onto the sealer, press the seal button, and it heats the material to form a bottom seal of the bag. I ran into troubles with the actual sealing process. You need to make sure you let the heating element that seals cool off before you try to vacuum and seal. If you do not, it will seal the bag before attempting to vacuum seal it, leaving you with a useless piece of plastic. I made this mistake several times. I could not get bags to vacuum before sealing. It took me several times to get the sealing process right. It was especially frustrating when trying to work with a meat for Sous Vide cooking. I did eventually get the seal to correctly work to cook a steak. The bags worked great once appropriately sealed and made for a great overall product. I'm not sure if my issues with this product is just user error and/or not understanding the process correctly, but I've had a hard time with the air reduction actually working before the machine tries to seal. I am a first time user of a vacuum sealer, so it could be lack of knowledge. I do like the amount of features and capability this offers.bkelly217

Very easy to use technology that opens a door to a world of food processing. Either for (sous-vide) food storage or for sous vide cooking. Over the last years, I’ve been using sous vide storage to extend the life of some fresh foods that normally go to waste because of the limited size of the family. During the same number of years, I was trying to convince myself that the purchase of a professional sous-vide machine was not justifying the savings in non-waisted food. My (mostly manual) solution until now was a very basic and limited vacuum device that was only ok for dry foods. For sealing the bags, a very basic sealer was doing the rest. Recently I introduced sous-vide cooking and start to discover the pleasure of food cooked to low temperature. Sadly, my food preparations under the previous sous-vide method were not adequate to directly use the foods fully submerged in the water. On a certain number of occasions, the water was entering the bag destroying the food taste. The solution was to keep the bags with a clothespin. The Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer is the perfect solution for both uses. My favorite elements: .- Anova is able to vacuum not only fully dried preparations but also foods with sauces and marinades in the bag. And this is a game-changer! Now, my foods are prepared with the special family receipt marinade, they stay in the fridge or freezer and directly for preparation. That could be sous-vide directly in the bag, but also without a bag in the barbeque. I love that the meats have been marinating for days in a close-air free-controlled bag and once out of the bag, the juices are there. .- Size, the full machine is made in a very compact size. In a small kitchen house, this is a very important element. Each new addition must justify its presence. .- You can use pre-cut bags but also use the fully customizable plastic roll that stays in the machine. You are cutting the roll and preparing the bags to tailor them to each occasion's need: big or small foods have their own bag. .- Super intuitive process that only requires pushing a button. The machine does all the rest and the light tells you when to reopen again. No need for too many instructions. .- I didn’t use it but I think is worth to mention that you can use the vacuum with special vacuum ready containers. .- In the web, they are talking about extending guarantee. Hope never go a use but good to have. Despite my feedback about how easy is to use, I wish that the easy start document and instructions has more and/or bigger drawings. With no text at all, a basic instructions could help to built trust with a first time user. I love it, recommend it and happy to have it.Luis

I vacuumed bananas, apples and meat on the first day (with breaks between operations) and, although they seemed well vacuumed, the next day all the packages had air. The meat went to the freezer and the packages remained as long as the appliance emptied them (no too much). The next day I used other bags left from my old Foodsaver (they were checked as good) and I resumed emptying the fruit, Everything looks good until the next day when the air was in all 7 bags, I found that the bananas they had cheated in contact with the air, becoming black and with a horrible taste (they had quickly entered biodegradation). Also, on the second day the time for vacuuming was shortened from 5 seconds (in the first operations) to 3-2 seconds. My conclusion is that it is not the bags that are the cause but the sealing of the appliance is not perfect and the timer assigned for the sealing operation does not work correctly. I request a full refund because the product does not work in the parameters described by the seller.Elena

Bought this sealer after reading some good reviews and now I’m wondering what the source of these reviews actually was. I was looking to replace my older, worn out vacuum sealer and unfortunately, I chose this one. It just plain didn’t work well. Was difficult to get it to pull a decent vacuum, and when it would, the bag would lose its seal. After an hour or so of trying, giving it a chance to cool off between attempts, I gave up and pulled out my old one which, after years of use, worked so much better. Look elsewhereMichael

First vacuum sealer I’ve ever used and found it’s very helpful for freezing meat. Only tricky part is making sure no liquid gets sucked into the machine. It’s convenient that there is a spot to store your roll of plastic in the machine and you can very easily cut the bag to the size you need. There is a double seal option to ensure a good seal and no air can get in. I like that you can choose between manual or auto vacuum and that you can switch between them easily. You need to give it a minute between sealing packages and it can feel like it’s slowing you down a bit, but you find a rhythm and it’s fine. It’s easy to pull out to seal up one bag and sturdy enough to do multiple bags in a row. So far I’ve done as many as 15, resting about a minute between each. I’d recommend it.Jennifer
