Finding the right co-wash for 3c hair can make all the difference in your natural hair journey. With the wide variety of products on the market, it can get overwhelming trying to determine which one will provide the perfect moisture, slip and cleansing for your curls without leaving them dry, frizzy or weighed down. Before purchasing a co-wash, there are a few key factors to consider so you select the best formula for your unique hair needs.
What ingredients does the co-wash contain? Look for nourishing, moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil and aloe vera. You’ll also want to avoid sulfates and silicones that can strip your curls of natural oils. Pay attention to the concentration of cleansing agents, as too strong of a formula can be drying.
How thick or thin is the texture? Thicker, creamier co-washes provide more moisture for dry, thirsty curls while thinner, more gel-like textures add definition and slip to your coils without weighing them down. Consider your hairs’ porosity and moisture needs.
Does it provide enough slip? A good co-wash should glide through 3c curls from root to tip with ease, minimizing tangles and knots. Good slip also allows for thorough cleansing and conditioned hair.
What does it smell like? Find a lightly scented or fragrance-free formula if you have sensitive skin or allergies. Or choose a tropical, fruity scent if you like a fragrant co-wash experience.
Ready to discover the perfect co-wash to refresh your curls? What factors are most important for your hair type and texture? Do you prefer a thick, creamy formula or lightweight gel-cream? Finding the right co-wash makes all the difference in your natural hair care routine. Let your locks thrive with the ideal blend of moisture, cleansing and slip.

Reviews:
During my last wash I used the co-wash. I enjoyed how it softened my hair. I have 3b-4a curls which are pretty fine in texture. My hair felt clean enough where I didn’t feel the need to follow up wash with shampoo. After conditioning I used the Mielle Pomade to oil and my hair has been moisturized for days. I honestly don’t recall a loud smell from the co-wash. I do prefer more of a smell. But it still did what it was supposed to do. I am enjoying the Mielle Hair Care Line so far and I do recommend others to try.Sharon M.
I didn't even know what a co-wash was until I found it on this website. I read it could be used between washes (and I needed something other than astringent) so I gave it a shot hoping for the best. When I tell you this is the best thing since sliced bread…BETTER than sliced bread! My hair is like I just washed it! I know why ancestors guided my hand to this website for reason and THIS WAS IT!!! Bless this co-wash and this company. Gonna need like 5 more bottles because this stuff is gold. Doesn't leave hair dry like shampoo and my scalp smells fresh and clean. I don't use it daily but it's a savior for between wash days. I have 4c hair by the way and so far so good!Janaeha B.
The moisture it keeps on my daughter hair who has like 3 different strands is unremarkable. The smell is wonderful. The shine in her hair I love. It helps me out a lot with her thick curly 4a &4b hair textureIman L.

Reviews:
I was very concerned about trying this product because I never heard of a "co-wash". So I did a little research online and found out that a "co-wash" is a conditioning shampoo of sorts. Oh okay, and it won't strip your hair if your hair, like mine, is dry and prone to frizz! So, I'm a hair Type 4A with 3C pieces throughout and I have been loyal to Aveda for decades (*since the 90's) so I thought, will this work for my newly natural hair? Well IT WORKED! It worked quite well too! My hair was soft, nowhere near as tangled as it has been, and so smooth and smells great! I am not paid for any of my comments here, but I chose to write a lengthy one because if you're desperately searching for natural products for natural hair, you'll want a brand like Aveda. However, if you are in the Type 4 category, finding a product for our curly coils is sometimes maddening. So let me finish my regimen as of last night. I washed with the Co-Wash, then I put the Detangling Masque on (*ALL BE CURLY LINE) and let it sit while I showered (*next time I may heat it under a dryer for maximum penetration), and then I combed through it and was amazed and how the tangles were so few! I then used the Be CURLY Curl Enhancer, and twisted my hair in multiple sections. Untwisting it, as it dried overnight, I have soft, defined, and smooth hair. I'm about to cry because Finally found the method! So then, this morning, I said, what might happen if I use my go to favorite, the Brilliant Humectant so I did! The result was beautiful shiny waves that were absolutely soft and smooth! I'm so happy! I will not lie, I did try multiple shampoos and conditioners with my newly natural hair, and none of them did more than tangle my hair. This, however, this is the ticket! I will continue using it, and also will ask that Aveda will hopefully move to larger sizes in these products as I like to have what I need in large quantities! Never have I been more afraid of running out of basic necessities. Hope this helps!Princess Phyllis
If you have dry and damaged hair, you might not want to wash it every day abd dry it out further. This is where the co-wash comes in. I was a little confused by this product at first and honestly it does seem a little gimicky, but I've tried it nonetheless, and I did like it well enough. This would be like an in between wash on the days where you just want a light wash and you don't need a deep clean. Maybe after you've colored or permed your hair, it feels a little dry and you want to be gentle with it, this would be a good time to use this maybe every other tine you wash your hair. These are the circumstances for which I can see the usefulness of this product.jenna.h
I love this co-wash. It has meant that most of my other products are just sitting around waiting for me to notice them again. I now get better results from using this plus a leave in and curl-cream than I did with the experimental cocktail of things I was using in the past. I think it's really important that Aveda start to offer a much bigger bottle of this product though. For those of us using this as our go-to, especially if we have thick and curly hair (the target audience!), we can run out of this fast and I hate seeing all those bottles go out to the blue box.Mackenzie

Reviews:
I tried a bunch of cowashes and I hated them. I was very skeptical when my stylist recommended this, but I figured I'd give it a try. This product actually makes my hair feel clean, no shampoo needed. My hair is fine, straight, oily, bleached, and then colored a deep teal color. I cowash my hair three times a week, it always looks good. I do condition afterwards every time. I also use a leave-in conditioner/heat protectant. I haven't shampooed my hair in, I don't know, a couple of months? I haven't noticed any buildup from the gel I use, and my color lasts much better than when I was shampooing with a salon quality color-specific product.Niko
I love this cowash, it does not lather up like shampoo. It's like a conditioner. It has a light, clean smell, I love it! Even my husband likes using it on his beard. I have curly hair that frizzes throughout the day and this helps with that. My hair loves it!GAIL
I run this thoroughly through my hair and scrub, then rinse well and let my hair air dry. I have natural waves with random barrel curls. After air drying, my hair looked shiny, clean, smelled nice, and my waves came out in full force. Highly recommend adding this to your hair care regimen.Kate

Reviews:
so this is the second jar for me and it lasts a while. I only use it every now and then maybe one or two times a week. the consistency is like a conditioner and it definitely doesn't lather (no wonder since it's not a shampoo) BUT, co wash is the wrong word for this product if you ask me. co wash is washing with conditioner only. This co wash really cleans the hair but also tends to make my hair feel a LITTLE dry. so I use my regular conditioner afterwards! make sure to rinse it really good so it doesn't leaves residue (never happened to me) in your hair. my scalp gets really clean and my hair too, the hair feels clean but a little different than after using shampoo. I don't know if I really love this product but for the price it is ok and I definitely like it.. if your hair is really dry you should be careful with using it every day or every wash. make sure you use a conditioner afterwards, I don't think you can skip that part with this product. maybe I'd call it creamy non foaming shampoo instead of cleansing conditioner.squish85
I have fine, dry Asian hair that’s also wavy-straight and this product has been amazing. I recently switched to co-washing after normal shampoos left my hair feeling dry, brittle, and dull. I needed something to nourish my locks, clean my scalp, but also keep the texture I have with my hair. I use this in combination with the Curl Smith brand of conditioner, and together they help make my hair look shiny and healthy again. The best part is that they don’t completely destroy my waves either! And this co-wash smells really amazing, I look forward to using it on my wash days! Highly recommend!Mai
This cowash is wonderful. The smell is light and pleasant. It does not smell like traditional coconut scented products that are usually overwhelming and super sweet smelling. Which is great for people (like me) that dislike and would not purchase anything coconut scented. It is perfect for using daily especially for those who worry about dryness on their scalp and or hair; it keeps it quite moisturized. It is easy to apply and you don't need to use too much. It doesn't lather like a shampoo however it gets the job done so long as you do not have a tremendous amount of build up or tons of product in your hair. It's great to use to after a workout or any activity where you don't need a squeaky clean feeling (especially if it's your second wash of the day). The package size is quite large and it lasts quite a while. However, I removed 1 star only because of the packing format. It only comes in a tub so it's not as shower friendly to use one handed like a bottle and probably causes most to use more than needed scooping some out, however don't let that deter you because it's a really a fantastic product. Just take a little scoop out and close the container and you're all set! If you really dislike the tub, you can also funnel it into another shampoo like bottle. Hopefully one day in the future they will offer a choice between a bottle and tub format. [I have coily curly hair]iHerb Customer

Reviews:
I must say I love the way this smells, but I have used other co washes that have cleansed my hair a lot better. It leaves my roots feeling oily and the rest of the hair shaft feeling like it left a film. I will say I have 3a/3b curls, so it could be that it's too heavy for my hair type.Margarita
The consistency is somewhat thick but very creamy. Application was easy because the co wash has decent slip. Has a perfume scent but nothing overpowering. I was able to detangle my hair quickly. My hair did not feel dry after rinsing. I will get 3 uses out this bottle along with the matching mask. Great comboSSMITH202202
I wanted to love this product but I think it was too thick and heavy for my hair. I felt that it left my hair greasy feeling and not very clean. It didnt lather well (which makes sense as a thick cream consistency) but it was hard to really know if it was getting evenly distributed. I think i'll stick to this line's shampoo and conditioning cream!Cass

I usually deal with a very frizzy and unruly hair that is just too stubborn. This shampoo is the product that I did not know I need it. This shampoo works well on frizzy hair. It cleans really really well. My hair feels clean without being stripped. Smells so so delicious! It rinses off without a residue! It nourishes my hair and makes it soft. My curls have become so so bouncy and defined, I am literally loving it. My hair is no longer frizzy which is amazing. This is a great shampoo. I will definitely repurchase! Lastly, it is a bonus it is vegan. And gluten free! I haven't really tried an effective vegan shampoo until I tried this one! Highly reccomend!LetisyaT
Standing in the shower, on the first wash, my hair definitely didn't feel clean. The Curl Charisma didn't remove any of the products I had previously used during the week. Using a cleansing shampoo, I was able to get rid of any buildup. Then, I shampooed again with the Curly Charisma. It is a very thin shampoo and doesn't suds up (which I was kind of disappointed with after my first/second wash). Finally, I was ready for the Curly Charisma conditioner. It's thick and creamy. Worked through my hair and let it sit while was washed. Honestly, my hair may not have been in need of the rice amino and avocado hydration the shampoo and conditioner claim they have. My curls weren't limp by any stretch of the imagination but I felt like they were at vivacious and voluminous as always. I only purchased the 8oz. bottles. So, I may try again but I won't feel bad if I end up tossing. For context, I live in Utah (dry climate) and have very curly blonde hair. Love the Curly Charisma Co-wash. On the fence about the Curly Charisma shampoo and conditioner.Dancer15599
As others have commented, this shampoo is very drying. I noticed my hair felt dry (not stripped; but dry) after the very first wash. But, I have to be honest, my curls looked amazing! So much so that I went out the next week and bought the matching conditioner. But over time my hair just got drier and drier and eventually felt like straw after each wash. After about 4 weeks my hair was extremely dry all the time and had significantly more frizz. By 6 weeks I was noticing much more shedding and my curls were stringy and limp. . I tried everything to fix it. Different stylers. More frequent clarifying etc.. but my curls were falling flat and the frizz was out of control. I finally had to admit it was the shampoo. I stopped using this about 2 weeks ago and switched to the Shine shampoo and conditioner by Curlsmith. I saw an immediate improvement. Curls came back; frizz is better. It will take time to undo the damage from this shampoo but I'm so glad I stopped using it. If you hair truly, truly needs protein (like a lot of protein) then this could work great for you. But it was definitely damaging to my hair.Chris

This product is nothing short of AMAZING! I am so impressed with the overall heath of my hair. The improvement has been unbelievable. My hair has gone from limp and lifeless to shiny and strong. My hair shed has decreased drastically and I don't have nearly as much breakage! I would strongly recommend this product!Marie C.
I have used this cowash for years and absolutely love it. I have low density, fine curly hair that needs to be shampooed/cleaned every few days but can’t get too dried out. This cowash truly cleanses my scalp well and conditions my hair. HOWEVER, the last jar I bought at a retail store was a new/different formula. I noticed immediately it was more watery and did not clean my hair as well and did not have as much slip. I compared the ingredients of the 16oz jar to this 32 oz jar, and the 32 is the old/better formula. I really really hope As I Am does NOT change all of this product to the new formula. IT DOES NOT WORK AS WELL and I won’t buy it anymore. Why change a good thing?? Please keep the formula in the 32oz jar!!!!Michelle M.
I used to be a Wen user but I found it just too expensive for the amount of waste there was. This product works just as good as Wen, but it is thinner and so it is much easier to distribute through your hair and scalp and use less of the product. It's also great because it comes up very easily in the pump whereas my old brand was so thick that there would be a bunch of leftover product in the bottom of the bottle that was very difficult to remove. I'm so happy that I found this product and plan on continuing to purchase in the future.Bob

so this is the second jar for me and it lasts a while.

I mainly use co-wash because I have coarse, curly hair. And I have been loving this one recently! I saw it at TJ Maxx and decided to try it because I looove the leave in from this line and I’m definitely not disappointed! Leaves my curls nice and hydrated and creates a nice slip for detangling. Plus the scent is not overpowering
this is the first co wash that I have ever used and I really like it. I use it every two weeks, alternating between the mixed chicks shampoo with sulfate. it is a very mild cleanser that will not get all your products and build up out, but will still make your hair feel clean and refreshed without drying it. the scent is nice, very light and clean. I do not think that it is drying like some reviews say. it leaves my hair soft and easy to detangle.Veronica
I've tried a many a co wash I only cowash maybe twice a month. I needed another cowash so I grabbed this one at ulta. I still had some design essential so i did one side with that and when i got to the other side and used the Mixed chickes… let me tell you this mixed chicks co wash showed out. I could definately tell a difference it melted into my hair, the slip was A1 and my curls were popping and very soft. I have type 4 hair lol I still can't figure out the texture thing but I think its 4a/4b.and I though ugh this bottle ain't going to last ne but I didn't have to use alot. I like itCoilyMo

I hope y'all read my full review but I know I talk a lot so in case you want me to get straight to the point: the price IS worth it because you don't have to use a lot so it lasts, follow the instructions on the bottle, & watch Curlsmith change not just your hair, but your life. This product has been a miracle to my hair after years of damage & neglect. I am in love with Curlsmith. My hair feels like butter every time I use it! I have 2B, medium porosity, fine, very long, wavy hair. This product right here is the first one that got me hooked on this brand. This co-wash is amazing! I don't need to use a lot so even though the price is higher, it really is worth it, I'm telling you!!! I was so hesitant to buy this at first because of the price but now I can't go back to other brands. I am spoiled & I ended up spending more money on cheaper brands because I had to use so much more product for them to even work! Nothing compares to this. Just the smaller size bottle still lasted me for months. It's gentle enough to use everyday if you wanted but I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week if needed. This product cleanses my scalp & roots, removing dirt, sweat, & buildup without making my roots feel dry & stripped because it still adds moisture! I don't just use it for my roots & scalp, I also apply it to the entire length of my hair & detangle in the shower. Just after using this for a few times my hair was noticeably easier to detangle, softer, shinier, & wavier!!! My hair smells like candy after using this & I couldn't be happier. I now buy the larger bottle & of course it lasts even longer! Curlsmith is the best investment I have made for my hair! It changed my life because it made me feel more confident. I found my holy grail for hair! My hair is now healed, smells immaculate, & looks healthy/envy worthy! Every chance I get I tell people about this brand. Over the years on my natural wavy hair journey, I have noticed my hair change so much for the better & I truly believe it's all because of Curlsmith. ♥️Ziara
Even though my hair is bleached, I'm an every day wash person. I've only ever been able to skip shampoo for 1 day before getting gross. The only other co-wash I've tried is the TGIN one (which was less cleansing than this but also nice- maybe a good fit for folks who find this too harsh). For me, this hits a nice balance between cleansing and keeping my hair in good shape. It definitely strips my hair MUCH less than a traditional shampoo, but it cleanses more than washing with a conditioner typically would. I've been able to use this instead of shampoo for 2 days in a row without feeling like my scalp is gross. I use ~1-2 quarter sized pumps in my shoulder length hair. IMO that's more a bit more product than I "should" need to use at this price point, but nothing wild. I condition after I use this as well. My hair is weighed down pretty easily and this didn't weigh me down. For context: my hair is 2B, bleached (high porosity), and dense with fine/fragile individual strands.Claire
Relevant info: I have shoulder length, extremely fine (like, hairdressers comment on how fine it is), 2C/3A hair. I decided to try this on a whim because I love curlsmith's moisture memory reactor so much. I haven't had much luck with cowashing in the past, because my hair is so fine it gets weighed down and buildup very easily. But boy am I glad I tried it! I've used it 3 times so far (every other day) and I haven't had to use my regular shampoo/conditioner at all. I tried it originally without using styling products after, because I wanted to try it on its own, and honestly I expected it to weigh my hair down as other cowash products have. I was shocked after it dried (I always air dry) that my hair was extremely soft and fluffy. No product left behind, no clumps, nothing. It was actually a bit too fluffy for my taste, so the next time I used the moisture memory reactor afterwards (as a leave in) and my hair was as perfect as it ever has been. Not weighed down, but not frizzy or fluffy, nice waves/curls, soft and touchable, not crunchy. Love it. I just wish it wasn't so expensive, because I do need to use a fair amount of it each shower.JenPed

I liked this product. I began using it back when I became completely natural. Affordable pricing and big value. I purchased this product from Walmart and after years of using, the smell started to change. Had to stop using because of this.raven .t
The cream of nature argan oil line is by far the best for 4c type hair. I use this line daily. I have almost everything it has in the market. It's affordable, in most stores, and comes in good packaging. Would recommend and continue to purchase.la toya.k

I have curly hair which causes tangles and unruliness especially in hot humid climate but this right here has been the ultimate game changer for me as my hair goes from wild to tame with a mist of this and it also makes my hair not only easier to manage but smells great as well and my kids like it also. If you have some unruly hair like I then you should give this a try !khara.m
I have been wearing a kinky pony tail natural or weave and edges out all summer, so I use this leave in conditioner with water to do a slick pony and make my pony kinky but not dry and it’s so good on my hair! Can we talk about how this smells amazing!!! I love how soft my hair is and it does leave residue at all! Most black girls wouldn’t think a product like this would work on there hair but girls if your natural it will! Even a small amount would work in a wig or natural wig at least when you need to get that wet but curly look or just a moisturized look, this product would work for sure! I don’t wear wigs but I’m sure it will work. So bomb and it would make your hair smell good too.keiana.g
I have been using this leave-in for years, through dreadlocs, twistouts, Wash-n-Gos, and blow drying. It consistently provides the best results. Especially for blow drying with a Revair! You can't put oil on your hair before using that blow dryer, and every other leave-in causes that to leave my hair dried out. But also especially for WnGs, because the curls! Especially if you put this on right after washing out regular conditioner while hair is soaking wet and then put on a plastic cap before getting out of the shower. Your curls will be amazing. I can't even do a WnG without using this product before any custard/gel. I've experimented with many, many other leave-ins, but keep coming back to this one. The only reason I even try to find any others is that I have a mild allergy to one of the ingredients in this. It makes my eyes a little itchy/watery. But you just can't beat this for moisture, so I stick with it anyway. A friend visited me recently and used this since she hadn't brought her own with her and raved about how much she loved it, asking where she could buy it. She has completely different hair from me (3a where I am 4c) but now is obsessed with this leave-in too.indigo.o

I've never used a co-wash before this one, and it is WONDERFUL. I don't use it every time I shower, but when I do it leaves my hair so soft and hydrated. I have thick, dry, easily damaged hair and this product is fantastic for it. My only note: be sure you read the directions! This does not work like a normal conditioner at all, so make sure you follow the instructions for best results. Would absolutely purchase again, especially at this price < 3R
I love this stuff. I have been using it for a while but would use regular shampoo once every 10 days or so. Then, for the last couple months I did not do any regular shampoo just this cowash. My hair was so good- less frizz, more shine, not dry and fluffy. My hair is wavy. Then as an experiment I washed with shampoo yesterday. I wish I hadn't! I had to use extra product to try to get it from looking too fluffy and straw like. I won't go back to shampoo. I am so frugal I hate to spend the extra money but I really love this. Also- I am surprised to see the negative reviews on the scent. It just doesn't seem that strong or bad to me. I can't even think of what it smells like right now because it's a totally ignorable part of the product for me.hbd
I wasn't sure how this item would perform compared to my expensive salon brand, but I must say that I love this product. It works as a cleanser and conditioner in one bottle, which is such a time saver when I don't have time to wash and condition separately. It leaves me with soft, detangled hair and I don't feel like I have a heavy film on it. The price is very reasonable and the scent is fresh and light, not overly-perfumed like some other brands. (I'm very sensitive to scents, and anything too perfume-y gives me a headache). I highly recommend this product.Ellen G

I bought this bc I'm trying to wash my hair less often (used to wash every other day, now washing 2x a week) I can't go to washing once a week just yet so I use this mid week to feel a bit refreshed until the next time I can use real shampoo. I don't know much about co-washing but I do love the tingly feeling this gives my scalp because I feel like its actually cleaning. To help spread it on my scalp I use a silicone scalp brush because it does not lather. My biggest worry about co-washing is that my scalp gets oily too fast. After using this, my scalp isn't oily but I make sure to rinse this out well and follow with my conditioner from mids to ends. My scalp does start to get oily a bit faster (like within 3 days) with this product than with my regular shampoo, but that's probably because its not completely getting rid of the product buildup and you can only do that with real shampoo. I've used this once a week for about 4 weeks now and I think I'll keep using it. It's a huge bottle so it will last me a very long time.Qratii
I have been using this brand of shampoo, conditioner and "curl enhancing cream". I perm and color my hair and thus I need conditioner on a regular basis. This product does this for me and I do alternate with other good quality hair care products. My hair is fine and find this does not weigh down my hair. I was glad to see the Mizani products are available on Walmart website and do recommend all for hair care.MileHighMillie
I am a wavy 2C who struggles with frizz and breakage and I shower every day. This cowash is gentle enough for me to use it for 2 or 3 days between full washes. Most cowashes I've tried have coconut oil/alkanes that make my fine hair go all Snape-like greasy, but this is light enough that my hair is moisturized but not oily. This product does have a silicone, so it's not CGM but I'm compromising because it has helped with my frizzy baby hairs. I will say, I think I use more of this product than I need to, which isn't helped by the normal flip top of which I tend to squeeze too much out. I put a pump on my bottle and try to really spread it across my scalp before using more. I don't use this on my mid-shaft or ends as it can dry them to the point of crunchiness.ErinTheEngineer

I used this and so many more As I Am products for my children. They are mixed with curly, course hair. Shampoos and conditioners made for Caucasian hair are always drying for them. The coconut cowash is amazing. It smells great and doesn't weigh down your curls. I swear by As I Am for my babies hair. Always looks clean, shiny, their curls are bouncy and soft. Perfect amount of moisturizer without leaving their curls weighed down.kaitlyn.c
This is the only cowash I have used and am hesitant to try any others because I don't think they'll be as good as this one! I shampoo my hair once a week and cowash once in between. This has been amazing for me! I massage it in at my scalp for a good amount of time to ensure the mild surfactant in it has been given the opportunity to clean up any oil build up, then I gently use a scalp brush and apply the cowash to the lengths of my hair and begin finger detangling. Let it sit while I do my other shower stuff then rinse. If I don't use this once a week then my scalp becomes itchy in the winter. It cleans well and my fine curly hair loves it! It has an amazing coconut scent and the tub lasts a long time. I actually just re-purchased and I have had this tub for 5 or 6 months.krystal.t
Amazing! I was looking for a product which i can use inbetween wash or instead of using normal shampoo. This product do exactly what is suppose to do, my hair feel conditioned and moisturized as compare to normal shampoo. It is not harsh on the hair, it does not strip your hair from its natural oil. I have 4c hair and is dry, this product really nourished my hair and i was able to detangle my hair with ease. My hair feel soft and bouncy. I love it and i highly recommend it.gertrude.k

I started seeing improvement in my curls when I started using multiple Jane cosmetics together. This cleanser automatically makes my hair get wavy/curly after washing, but doesn’t leave it feeling as clean as other products. It’s a great price, but not my go-to for curly hair cleansing washes.cassandra.d

My daughter is 7 years old with 4b hair. We've always used the African Pride pre-poo which has been my go-to pre-poo/detangler for about about 2 years now. I was at my local Fry's and decided to try this because I loved The Doux Mos Def mouse. We used The Doux One Love Co-Wash this morning BEFORE school – and let me tell yoooooooooooooouuuuu her wash and go came out perfect! I will buy this over and over again do you hear me?! She is very tender headed and wash day is always a struggle but this really helped us. I know it's not for everyone and trust me, I was skeptical because I thought the product was too thick when I was applying it (it smells really good too, like strawberries!) But after washing it her hair was very clean and still moisturized. I love it – give it a try!!Camille M
I really wanted to like this product as similar to the creator of The Doux, I'm not fond of co-washes. They always make my hair feel filmy. I love the way the other The Doux products smell, but this reminded me of the smell of Pepto Bismuth. The consistency is nice though – a light creamy feel so applying it to my hair was great and it did help detangle it well. A little goes a long way so it seems like it would last a while. I tried it twice, once as a co-wash mid week and then the second time I sat under the dryer and used it as a cleanser and deep conditioner. You can also use it as pre-poo which would probably work great. I make my own avocado pre-poo so I wouldn't use it for that. For my hair it doesn't seem to do the trick so I'll be returning it. However, everyone is different so give it a try!BrownSuga2019
For my curly girls with thick hair. This product works wonders on tangles and moisturizing before washing your hair. It is thick so if you like cowashing then this is perfect for you. Only thing I don’t like is the smell. It’s a pleasant scent but it’s strong in my opinion.natalie.t

Reviews:
I know they say don't abuse rinse out conditioner as leave-in, but this one works better for me like that. If I rinse it out my hair looks and feels mediocre. When I leave it in as a first layer, top it with my curl styling cream and seal off with a little coconut oil it works well. Feels heavy and producty at first, but when it dries the curls are bouncy, defined, light without frizz, perfect fir quick wash'n gos. I have 2C-3A hair of mixed heritage, in summer with high humidity this works well. I love the smoky, floral, slightly oriental scent.Dina
I've been using this co-wash for a couple of weeks. I do tend to buy more Shea Moisture hair products because they're effective, non-irritating, and curly-girl friendly. I use this to avoid using the shampoo every time I shower so that my hair doesn't dry out (3B/C). I like that it's moisturizing and doesn't make my hair feel dry. Very convenient. I don't get the "squeaky clean" feel, but still very clean. Would buy again.iHerb Customer
I no longer to wash my hair with shampoo every day like I did when I was a teenager. My hair is dryer, so this allows me to wash my hair every day or every other day and feel fresh and clean without a dry or itchy scalp. If you have dry curly hair, this is incredible. I have tried so many products and have spent a fortune. Honestly, have never found a product that worked until now. Finally, a solution for dry hair. I love this product for the way it makes my hair feel so incredibly soft, moisturizing and the wonderful scent!! I have been using this product for about 1 month, and I have referred it to all my family and friends!!iHerb Customer

Reviews:
I have very thick curly hair. Mainly 3b with some bits of 3c. The Twist Big Rich Dreamy ultra hydrating cowash is a cowash, meaning it is meant to cleanse as well as condition. It promises "ultimate moisture" and that it will clean without stripping your hair of its natural oils. The instructions say to "massage through your curls and rinse out thoroughly." Before I get to how it worked on my hair let me explain the packaging. The bottle is a neat looking wavy bottle with a soap pump cap. The pump is my first issue. The opening to the pump top is separated into two by a piece of plastic (like a hand soap pump). The product is *incredibly* thick. That means it is darn near impossible to get any product out. The Twist website says it may take a few pumps to get started, but I pumped and pumped and pumped, and then finally a very small amount came out. After that no amount of pumping worked. I took it off and tried squirting the product into my hand and I kid you not this stuff would not come out. I don't know if it's the shape of the bottle, the thickness of the product or both, but the product will not budge. I put a traditional conditioner cap on the bottle and that didn't work either! Unscrewing the cap and lifting the tube up and down then taking the product off the tube got me a small amount. I shouldn't have to be struggling in the shower to wash my hair. It was ridiculous levels of frustration. I mentioned the product was thick (which normally is a good thing). For such a thick product it does lather quite a bit. It also is *very* heavily perfumed. Unfortunately I wound up with a headache after using it, and no one who smelled it liked the smell. Despite the packaging claims, it *did* strip my hair of its natural oils. My hair dried limp, thin looking, puffy, with zero curl definition, even lacking curl in places. My hair was not moisturized. My curl pattern went poof (literally). It took a few deep conditioning treatments (*not* with a twist/Ouidad product) to get my hair back to its normal texture. I can't recommend this product at all. The bottle isn't user friendly and the product isn't at all good for curly hair. Even if you manage to get it out of the bottle you'll waste your money and potentially ruin your curl pattern. 1 star. (I got this product to try via popsugar dabble but they didn't ask me to review it here or anything.)emelia.c
This is a lovely cowash, massive bottle and I use less than other similar products. It’s creamy and eventually lathers with a scalp massager as I am used to. I don’t feel like I need a conditioner after and my hair feels silky. It has a faint coconut smell which I don’t mind at all. My only complaint is getting it out of the bottle. It’s quite stiff and can’t be balanced upside down and being a thick product it’s not easy to get it out.Cat
Let me start off with: I love the packaging of this cowash, it is super cute! Because the co wash is super thick, it is really difficult to get out of the bottle. I had to use a lot of it just to coat my hair. I have 3b hair and it is very thick so it took quite a bit of product to coat all of my hair. While the co wash sat it my hair I combed it out with a wide tooth comb and it was very difficult to get the knots out. Once I washed it off I could feel how dry it made my hair. I had to use an excessive amount of leave in conditioner just to get my hair to a manageable level. I would not recommend this to anyone.Kayla
