I just use a very small amount like directions advised, worked it into my wet hair, scrunched it with my hands and let air dry. My hair is sooo soft, no frizz and my curls are defined. I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. We used this to do my sons samurai bun for his 1st karate session! I love the price, the styling results and smell! HOWEVER…I’m still searching for a product alcohol free and not drying for my baby girl (17 months). I do not recommend using this product without pre-pooing or basing hair with oil before styling . My little girl is autistic and had started to scream (her way of communicating) anytime I came across a tangle. One day I was checking out the clearance aisle at my local walmart and saw this said detangling and decided to give it a try. I will NEVER purchase another shampoo for her. Worth every single penny. Detangling sprays do absolutely nothing for her hair and this miracle shampoo makes her hair like butter. There simply is no tangles no matter how rough her hair was before her bath. I’m sold on this product and can’t wait to try their other products. Not that they’re needed because this shampoo alone is magic. I've been using this product on my girls for over a year now and would like to comment on the comments about white grainy residue in the hair . . . I experienced the same thing at first almost making me throw it out but I gave it a try on my youngest with no other product in her hair and it did not leave the residue so I learned that this product does not pair well with certain products outside of this line like Cantu. But I love this product, I always apply on damp hair. The girls have completely different hair density, porosity and texture yet it works great on both of them for leaving their hair moisturized for days and for detangling. I have been using this (MEDIUM HOLD) gel since two years ago And I love it, usually my head scalp is really sensitive to any product especially if they have some kind of alcohol or some kind of chemical crazy product and I think this gel is really gentle with your skin and doesn’t let those white crispy spots of gel show up even if u are wearing hats, I use it when I am going to work in the kitchen because it gives me hair in the right place for over 10 hours and (even though I have bangs entire really thick) if I use gel and I brushed my hair back he keeps my hair in place really well. Sorry for the picture, the container is a little bit dirty but because it is heavy duty use lol [brand:curlykids] has been a lot better than a bunch of new products. I highly recommend this product! My daughter will be three next month and we have been using this product for over a year and LOVE IT. I didn’t want to put anything too heavy on her beautiful curls. A friend recommended this for her little Shirley temple curls lol literally fresh out the shower I sprayed her with this and brush her hair with my finger or brush, they come out perfect! Very nice, suits curly hair, calms the curls down, nice smell, I only find the curls stick together so combing next day might not be as easy, always blow drying becomes difficult. I love this product. My daughter has straight hair but it’s really thick and have a hard time helping her style it. We use this along with another product to style it. It does leave a little bit of residue when I apply too much so I’ve been moderating it so that doesn’t happen. Other than that she loves the smell (not too strong) and likes how it leaves her hair (soft). As other review listed, target packaged items perfectly so there are no spills which makes it easier to purchase. My local Target runs out really fast so it’s added convenience.Betty

It’s the shampoo as well.* It helps with frizz tremendously and keeps her hair soft. When we are washing it doesn’t burn or bother her eyes if it runs down her face when rinsing. It helps define curls. It’s also a lightweight product which helps keep her curls high and with volume. Her hair also smells nice with a light fruity scent. Best detangler for kids I have ever used. It has excellent ingredients that provide really good slip for combing through long tangled hair. I love that it's not just a ton of glycerin with a fruity scent that leaves the hair feeling sticky without actually helping detangle like most detanglers for kids do. I should add my kids have straight hair of varying density, thickness, and texture, but it works for all of them. I'm familiar with Shea Moisture because I have wavy hair, but I'm telling you this product works on multiple textures. I even use it on my own sometimes. I've struggled to find a detangler that my hair agreed with but FINALLY I found one I like (it's always the kid products that turn out to be the best). It smells divine (my boyfriend could not stop sniffing my hair lol) and it really helps detangle my hair. I mainly use it after I dry my hair in a microfiber towel so that it's not fully dry but it's also not soaking wet. I spray a few sprays into my hair and slowly comb it out. To start, this conditioner is in my opinion the best smelling, detangling miracle I have ever used. I have THREE daughters 1 with thick wavy small s curl patterned hair I think 3c. 1 with thick wavy big s curl patterned hair and 1 with literally a mix of both top half of her hair has med s curls and the back has small s curls. And they all have a coarse patch right on the top middle of their heads, smh. I said all of that because THIS conditioner softens, smooths, absolutely detangles and has a lasting scent for a few days. I looove this stuff and the funny thing is I have never tried on my hair. I have other Shea moisture favs for my hair. But PLEEASE give moms like me a larger bottle, a leave-in spray or cream for styling, and maybe a serum for moisture and shine. This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. However, I still use Uncle Funky’s Daughter every single day and it’s been excellent for my 3b hair! And CGM approved!!! Worth every penny and lasts long.Natalie
I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Once dry, I scrunch with my hands or a t-shirt to get the “crunch” out and my hair looks so good after. It holds the waves in nicely all day long and strong.kelly.w
Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. When I tell you I’m the perfect guinea pig for stuff like this because I am truly so prone to messing stuff up..GIRL. Listen to me. This product is moisturizing for my hair without leaving and product build up. It defines my curls Nd there's minimum shrinkage. I know it states it's for kids but I find this product to work well for my 3c/4a mix curls. Other products can be to harsh or not enough hold. I'll only only have to apply this product after a wash and it'll hold the curl definition for 3-4 days with re application. Oh and it smells amazing!M.

This Aussie Kids Curly Sulfate Free Shampoo was PERFECT for my kids' ringlets and curls. Weve always had a really hard time with their hair, usually involving a trip to the salon to keep their hair short and managable. With colder weather here, the boys decided they want their long hair. That is where this shampoo comes to save the day. It lathers up beautifully, covering all of the hair with one pump. Smells amazing and very easy to comb after using it. My son's hair was soft, frizz free and curls stood out! I only wish the bottle was more gender neutral. I tried this because I have always loved Aussie products for myself – and frankly my kiddo's sweaty little hair/scalp stink 5 minutes after it has been washed. First – I love this because it is sulfate and paraben free which for us lowers the liklihood of scalp irritation and ickies. Second – the shampoo itself smells delish – fruity but not overwhelming, with a nice thickness that stays where you put it. The bottle is easy to hold when slippery as it has finger grooves on the side and the pump is easy to use and dispenses just the right amount per pump.l But the stinky scalp test…. I got my kiddo's hair soaking wet from scalp to end of very long hair. I put a quarter sized dollop of shampoo in the hands, rubbed them together and then lathered kiddo up. It lathered with voluminous, thick, sweet smelling bubbles right away. After a few seconds of working the lather through we rinsed. The shampoo rinsed out easily and quickly, no tears, no stickiness, no dryness. I got out the detangling comb while kiddo was still in tub and hair that is usually a rats nest was smooth and tangle free. So far so good! We used the companion conditioner next – but that is another review. What I will say is hair was soft and shiny and scalp had zero redness. Hair and scalp also remained sweet smelling though the entire day and soccer practice and was still wonderful the next morning. Many other products have either dried her hair out or weighed her curls down, but this one has done the complete opposite! O.K….There are kids on the bottle but this wonderful product is not only for kids but for everybody (black, white, yellow, green…name it) with curly and/or dry hair ! It's light, not greasy, and has a very good/light smell. It lets your hair soft, shiny and easy to manage. Big companies think that curly/dry hair need grease which is a huge mistake. We take my daughter to swim class two days out of the week and I started to notice that her hair was starting to get crispy ends and super dry. Her hair felt like she had accidentally put in a bowl of juice and let it dry out. My review is on the Daily cleanse line but since I couldn't find it, I'm placing my review on this one since they are fairly similar in my opinion. I love the Fairy Tales line of haircare in general. In my household, at any one given time, I've got a handful of their products in rotation. This particular line doesn't get as much hype as their others but should. The Daily cleanse shampoo is amazing. It is gentle, yet effective even on the oilest heads. I have three children under the age of 10 that all have different hair types and use this shampoo. My daughter (toddler) has wavy curly hair in the back that would turn into what we called a “rats nest” I’d wash her hair at night and by the middle of the next day her hair would look died out and was very knotted. I grabbed the curly q shampoo and conditioner and fell in love! I can go two days without washing her hair now. Her curls look hydrated and are super soft! My husband used it not knowing what it was and his natural curls were the best I’ve ever seen them until he went and straightened his hair lol. I’ve used it in my other kids who have straight hair and their hair comes out super soft. It does have a strong scent to it, but it is a very pleasant one. 1 star for smell. The odor reminds me of a 90’s Just for Me kiddie perm. I can barely stomach it. 5 stars for moisture. All of a sudden our baby’s hair got SUPER dry. Like a Brillo pad dry. I tried Curls Creme Brûlée and some Carol’s Daughters oil but nothing helped. Then I used this and dramatic change! His hair is so soft and supple. Not crunchy, dry, or frizzy, just beautiful curls. My little one has curly hair, just like me. I use Cantu styling cream for me so I decided to try the kids version for her. She’s just 3 so still has very thin baby hair that tends towards frizz. I put a pea sized amount (it’s plenty even though she’s never had a haircut) on after bath before bed and scrunch. She still has some frizz in the mornings but much less and her curls are much more defined. A spritz of water in the morning helps to reactivate too. It also smells delightful, I keep sniffing her head. I’d buy again but I think the bottle we have will last forever. I also just love there are products for kids with curly hair now and my little one isn’t destined for a childhood of dry brushed frizz like I was!Abby

Firstly, I am not sure if this is 100% the products fault in the sense that I am might be allergic to an ingredient (I'm assuming the hibiscus because my hair thrives whenever I use coconut based products) and also wasn't sure if this product line was necessarily directed more towards 3-4c hair. I am currently in the process of starting my curly hair girl journey and would say I'm somewhere in the 2b maaybee 2c range atm. I do have thick hair. The burn on my scalp was not instant and instead actually developed over a couple of months of using the products. And then it all just kind of hit at once. Ever since using this line of Coconut & Hibiscus products my scalp has never gone back to normal but hopefully soon I will be able to see a dermatologist. My scalp firstly had a very strong burning sensation in the back of my head in my neck area and also began to develop in the back of my crown. From that I developed a scalp fungus and my scalp smells like wet dog now which I have never dealt with before and I shower everyday. My scalp is now insanely dry and I have dandruff. Which is so unfortunate because I've bought every product from this line. I will say that the product DID detangle my hair fantastically when I did use it. And it has an AMAZING fragrance. I have never seen this product before. I really enjoyed the coconut hibiscus scent. This product left my hair feeling very moisturized and detangled . I went by the suggestions of the website for which conditioner to use, apparently I had been using the wrong one. This one works great on my curls, some are pretty tight & some are bouncy. This conditioner doesn't weigh them down & gives them a nice bounce. Paired with the shampoo, it's been life changing to my hair. Can't beat the fragrance either, I really like it! I alternate this shampoo with my regular shampoo. It's great for removing the buildup of products that I use on a daily basis. I have natural non ethnic spiral curly hair. My hair is also highlighted so it gets dry in the summer. This does the job gently without drying my hair out further. I recently decided to try switching from Maui Moisture to Ouidad when I heard all the great stuff about Ouidad products. I really wish I hadn't taken the financial leap. I barely saw any difference in my hair once it was dry, and when it was wet it felt dry and straw-like. The only thing that might have been different was that I got some better frizz control, but I've been using a lot of leave-in conditioner to give my hair back some of its moisture, so that could have been controlling my frizz. For $22, I felt really bummed that I not only didn't see an improvement in my hair, but actually felt that my hair was worse. Maybe my hair just needs more than this product can provide, but it's still sad.

My little girl is autistic and had started to scream (her way of communicating) anytime I came across a tangle. One day I was checking out the clearance aisle at my local walmart and saw this said detangling and decided to give it a try. I will NEVER purchase another shampoo for her. Worth every single penny. Detangling sprays do absolutely nothing for her hair and this miracle shampoo makes her hair like butter. There simply is no tangles no matter how rough her hair was before her bath. I’m sold on this product and can’t wait to try their other products. Not that they’re needed because this shampoo alone is magic. I've been using this product on my girls for over a year now and would like to comment on the comments about white grainy residue in the hair . . . I experienced the same thing at first almost making me throw it out but I gave it a try on my youngest with no other product in her hair and it did not leave the residue so I learned that this product does not pair well with certain products outside of this line like Cantu. But I love this product, I always apply on damp hair. The girls have completely different hair density, porosity and texture yet it works great on both of them for leaving their hair moisturized for days and for detangling. I have been using this (MEDIUM HOLD) gel since two years ago And I love it, usually my head scalp is really sensitive to any product especially if they have some kind of alcohol or some kind of chemical crazy product and I think this gel is really gentle with your skin and doesn’t let those white crispy spots of gel show up even if u are wearing hats, I use it when I am going to work in the kitchen because it gives me hair in the right place for over 10 hours and (even though I have bangs entire really thick) if I use gel and I brushed my hair back he keeps my hair in place really well.
