I know it's supposed to be more friendly to the atmosphere, but it doesn't clean at all. My go to is muc off's yellow spray on drivetrain cleaner and I think it works great. It says on the tin that it's a de-greaser, and to be honest I don't think I could of come up with a better description for a fluid which removes grease from your bicycles components. Operation couldn't be simpler. Just remove the black cap from the tin, direct the nozzle to the item that needs the grease removing, and push the nozzle down. The pressurisation system in the can then propels a stream of de-greasing agent onto the affected part. I use this in my Park chain cleaner and it makes the job really easy. No scrubbing, no leftover oily residue. Re-lubing your chain is mandatory or it will be very dry and squeaky on the next ride because ALL oil is gone. Similarly, if you get it into your derailleur pulleys the cleaner does such a great job of breaking down the grease that the bushings will dry out and rust in very short order. I’ve never used a degreaser before so I don’t have any other brands to compare this product with and I also had a voucher to spend so bought the more expensive branded degreaser. All I can say is wow! Cleaned my bike and the applied the degreaser being careful to keep away from my disc brakes and rotor. Left the degreaser on for approximately 5 mins and then scrubbed with the chain brush I got separately then rinsed off and cleaned the bike again. It’s like I have a completely new chain. I recently received a 'gift pack' of a range of Muc Off products (sponge/oil/chain cleaner/wash fluid etc.) as a birthday gift, and to be honest all the products I have used in the pack have been incredibly good at getting my bike back to a usable state after a hack round some muddy singletrack. This was purchased to replace the can I'd used, and whilst I was there I decided to purchase the cleaning head attachment (which attaches to the can with a plastic tube). I'd used an old toothbrush in the past, but with the cleaning head on you seem to get so much more ground in dirt out of the chain links. I appreciate it's an expensive addition, but the effort it saves is unbelievable, and there are no signs after cleaning the chain about 5 times that it's going to fall apart and need replacing with each new can I purchase. That said, whilst I like it a lot, unless you manage to get a bundle deal or a reduction all of these bottles and potions for a bike just seem on the cheeky side of expensive. tl;dr: More saddle time, less maintenance, cleaner hands, and door knobs, light switches = happy wife, happy me, happy life. 100% as advertised, amazing. I had my doubts about this product, but heard Muc-Off has good products from R1 Liz (online). It really does spray on, dissolves the gunk on a chain, sprockets, and pretty much anything else although I wouldn't recommend paints or plastics simply because…there's better options for those specifically made for those items. I don't remember what the can said concerning materials. I bought this to make cleaning my chain faster and easier after riding year-round and summer rolling in. It…just…works. I found myself simply wanting to spray more and see just how much it would take off…and it didn't disappoint (until the can felt much lighter, lol). Per the instructions label on the can, any heavy residue that remains can simply be wiped down with a rag for removal. That also worked well. A simple swipe and my sprockets were cleaned up around the teeth removing hundreds of miles or black and grey gunk build-up from two lubricants I tried. I won't get too off-topic, but they were Dupont wax chain lube in a white/yellow can which I am happy with. The other was Champion Chain Lube wax/waterproof lube in a red/black can which dries a bluish-gray all over the chain/sprockets in smears and swirls even after rolling the chain through a rag to remove excess. The Dupont drying wax seemed to deal w/ water better and caused less build-up and dried pretty clear. The Champion left gunk buildup like I had never seen around the sprocket teeth. I think it creates more grime than the Dupont. Both were found at Walmart and I'm happy w/ Dupont–but looking for more popular lubes to try and see if there's a difference (Google FortNine chain lube for a comparison on a bunch of lubes). But despite the gunk — no worries! This Muc-off product cleaned it *all* up so fast, so easy…made me never want to buy kerosene again! I don't use gasoline, water pressure sprayers, etc. for care of the sealed chain. I use kerosene, a Dupont Grunge Brush, and a toothbrush. I'll rinse with a water hose and clean, but since I don't use an air compressor I'll run it a few RPM on a paddock stand and let it the wind blow dry it for half an hour before lubing. 1) Spray on liberally 2) Wipe off w/ dry, somewhat clean rag 3) immediately lube and wait 30 mins. for the Dupont wax lube to dry 4) go ride! For someone commuting and traveling and/or for fun around town and surrounding counties, this stuff saves a lot of time…for $15 a can compared to a quart of kerosene and a few toothbrushes. I use it more sparingly for simple cleanings and lubes between deep cleans. Faster, makes it last longer, and still saves me half the time. This stuff is amazing…dunno how it works, but it does *exactly* as advertised and honestly, don't even really need to wipe this stuff down. I ride year-round, rain or shine, only taking 5 days off in the last year. It just plain works. I can't rave about it enough. The can just doesn't last long on deep-cleaning, so I think I'll just use it on the in-between cleanings since I ride so very much (over 13k miles in less than a year, not the most miles but a lot more than average folks). The only drawback to this convenience is the price. At $15 a can I won't be using this each time I clean the chain. This is my first time buying it. It was recommended in a house keeping book I read and I used it per her instructions for a deep clean: sprayed full strength on the surfaces I was cleaning and then rag to clean it, switching out rags as soon as they were dirty. The reviews are right about this one, it is VERY small. But, I have a small head and so this is perfect for me. I bought it because my girlfriend is an esthetician and she wants me to take good care of my skin. So with this I can just throw it in the wash and it helps keep my helmet pads clean and long lasting and protects my skin from all that nasty stuff. Additionally, I could not wear my AirPods in my helmet cause they would get pulled out when I put my helmet on, now that I have this it keeps my AirPods right in my ears and I don’t have to worry about them falling out. I wear it over my mouth and I can actually breathe through it relatively easily, your visor will fog at stoplights if you don’t raise it. Other than that this was perfect for me.Travers
IMO, Maxima makes great products. Whether it be from engine oil to cleaners. I haven't compared Maxima chain treatment products to every other chain treatment products but what I can say is that they work extremely well. Especially, their chain cleaner. I will not buy another brand of chain cleaner. Their chain cleaner is very effective at removing even the toughest of grease/oil deposits, and it will not remove or tarnish your paint. It washes off with ease with a garden hose. I first tried the chain lube but didn't like it because the fact that the lube would eventually fling off and get all over my wheel and transmission case. Not that Maxima makes a bad chain lube but because all chain lubes eventually fling off or wash off in the rain. So, I tried the chain wax instead of the chain lube and found that the wax also flings off but not as bad. However, I found that the rain doesn't wash it off. I also found that you have to reapply the chain wax less often. Instead of every 400 miles with the chain lube, I can now go 800-1000 miles without having to reapply it. Which is good, because I often go further than the recommended 400 miles without reapplying. IMO, Maxima makes great products; and all my motorcycle cleaning and lubrication products are Maxima products and they are all purchased exclusively from Rocky Mtn. I have previously been a regular user of Maxima Chain Lube on my bike's chain and thought I would give this combo package a try. Well the chain came out cleaner than it's ever been. Takes more time to do the three steps but the results are worth it. I would suggest that if you're mainly street riding that you won't need to do all three steps each time you lube your chain. I had previously used the chain wax products, they lubed well, but built up a multi levels of the wax, that made it a real chore to clean. I love this stuff! I do hellofalot of cycling on rough terrain and at this time of year it’s wet and muddy! I keep my bike indoors so naturally it gets a good cleaning every time I get back! I love muc off because you spray and leave for a few minutes then rinse! It’s quick easy and leaves no residue. Well I had Wet Lube oil 7 years dirt and grime all around my chain and all over the Gears and Derailers. Never washed gears and chain just frame. The oil muck solidified and had to use tool and brush to pick it off. I had to completely remove cassettes and scrape them thoroughly. Once all solid muck was off I soaked everything in cleaner and use brush. Now my gears and derailers look brand new. The frame also looks almost showroom condition. Have used MucOff bike cleaner for several years and its the only cleaner that I will use, the concentrate bottle allows me to dilute and mix my own strength cleaner. Like others, I started using this after watching FortNine's video on YouTube. If your chain isn't a grimey, caked-on mess, this cleaner will be more than adequate… and if it is, you'll probably just need to clean it more than once. If someone starts selling Ipone in the US, I might start using that, but given my experience with this stuff, I might just stick with it. And I can confirm that it does smell, at least somewhat, like watermelon. This stuff does what it is called. Gets the MUCK OFF of your chain. I used it very sparingly, rinsed with water, dry with cloth, and it was clean as new. I recently watched a youtube video (thanks FORTNINE) about different chain cleaners and this is the best stuff. Most other chain cleaners tested would bypass the chains internal o-rings and get into the grease inside them, not what you want from a cleaner!TYLER

Right to the point, this chain lube FAILED at protecting the chain from corrosion in winter weather use. And I am not talking snow or ice conditions, just normal road additives during this season. My chain before use was perfect. Now there are rust spots all over the outside link surfaces, link edges, and on rivet heads. Rust is both under the white coating this lube deposits and on places without white coating where lube rubbed off from use. Can labels says CORROSION PROTECTION. I have used this Bel-Ray chain lube on my bike now for over 2.5 years. It has been working well with the riding conditions I ride in. The conditions are mostly dry, some dust, very hot, rocky and wooded. My chain stays lubed throughout a day on the trails, the white color helps me to manage the wear and condition of the chain. When used in the chain scrubbing tool, this really does the job. I've used it on my 35 year old bike from Sears and my grandson's mountain bike to correct shifting problems in both. I love ChainBrite by ParkTool! I frequently go biking in dusty terrain because of the climate (Texas), but you also tend to pick up some things. ChainBrite is great at getting all that out and no issues in the drivetrain. I rarely have to use a heavy degreaser, unless it calls for it. I highly recommended anyone to get it. No denying the fact, that this tool got my chain super clean. However I did have to repeat the process 2-3 times to get this desired outcome. The tool itself is quite fiddly to use and isn't smooth when turning the chain through it. This product works best when used with other muc off drivetrain brushes. Make sure you purchase a large bottle of degreaser as the one provided will barely last five minutes.
Great chain cleaner – with fatal flaw! You're supposed to put the cleaning fluid in thru a tiny hole at the top. They provide a tiny bottle of fluid – which can't be refilled. So in practice once you're used the tiny bottle, you buy the full size bottle of cleaning fluid and pour it into the bottom half of the machine until it's over the bottom part of the cleaning wheel. (They used to sell decent sized bottles of cleaning fluid that you could use to fill the top reservoir, but no longer).Gordon
The design and execution of this chain cleaner is great. It's easy to use, feels pretty strong/solid and it does a great job. Seeing the black pool of grime at the bottom of the chain cleaner without it splashing back on the chain is a great feeling, and looks good too. Look at the pictures, see all the pink? It all comes out with little effort to clean (The button is the exception, its stuck in there understandably so) The included chain degreaser works pretty well, you will probably get around 5-10 uses out of it. After that, just clean out the bottle and just refill it with whatever chain degreaser that you like or happen to have. (There's a small indentation where you can lift up the plastic tip) Overall, I have no complaints. It's on the pricy end of chain cleaners, but I believe it was worth it.Jason

This is my first bike and first time using chain clean and lube. I try to do a cleaning and lubing every 600 miles. Even with this fairly regular maintenance, my chain has developed some light surface rust on various areas. I purchased the bike new and have only ever used this Motul kit on the chain. I should note that I do live in humid Florida with the occasional rain shower. Not sure if this is the norm but I will likely try something else once this runs out.Sean
I am a big fan of the chain lube and brush from this kit, both work well and are easily applied. I am not a fan of the chain cleaner that Motul provides though, it is on the more expensive side and doesn't appear to be too affective. A can only lasts me two or three cleanings, whereas the lube gets me much further. I found that with using their brush and lube, in addition to NON-chlorinated break cleaner I get the best result as well as bang for my buck.Owen
This kit lives up to the hype. It cleaned up the chain so well I thought there was something wrong when I heard the clean chain clicking from being dust and dirt free. Make sure you wipe down the chain post cleaning. The product will fling off the chain at high speeds if too much is left on prior to riding and it will leave your back tire off in need of its own clensing.Juan
