Best Propane Generators For Home (2025 Update)

I bought this XP13000HXT Tri Fuel generator to power my 2400 sq' house. It has two, 2 ton AC's. After all of the electrical and plumbing work was done to the house we tested the generator with propane for lack of having a natural gas line which is what I plan to use. The generator powered the entire house, including the two AC units and the heater. Bonus! Today I tried to switch the selector switch from propane to natural gas. It broke off. It cant be turned with needle nose either. The switches do not turn easily. I'm concerned now that more will break. I have a call in to Duramax warranty. They are open 8-5 M-F. It's Saturday. We don't have power outages often, but when we do I want to be ready. After extensive research in larger portable generators I settled on the Duromax XP13000HXT for several reasons. 1) Flexible fuel options; 2) Power output; 3) Power connections; and 4) Great reviews. I have setup the generator to power any circuits I choose in my house using a generator interlock on my breaker box. I am confident that it will handle all of my home's needs. Nice to have all tools needed for installation in the box. Just to be safe, I had master electrician install home panel 200Amp interlock kit and 50Amp Power Inlet Box. I also had master plumber extend Natural Gas hookup from Utility meter and regulator. The assembly of the generator I completed myself. The first time I started this generator took 4 tries, because of air in the new hose. Once running I added house load, the generator had no challenges maintaining stable voltage including a 3-ton AC, large LG fridge, lights, computers, fans, small standup freezer, Flat screens and display only showed 3 Bard out of 5 for possible load. After spending a good amount on this generator and installation I would have loved to report a better experience. Unfortunately the design on the air intake to filter leaves a lot on the table for improvement. Our generator got installed just in time for a blizzard we recently had in plymouth, we lost power and the generator turned on instantly and worked flawlessly for about an 1-1 1/2. The air filter then became frozen with snow and that was all she wrote. Was able to clean it and get it running again but after the filter was wet it was inevitable it was going to happen again. After a call to our hired generac tech, he knew exactly what to check when it happened and he explained that it happened to several brand new generators. Luckily for us he was able to fabricate a pre filter on the intake vent side of the generator and so far so good but we will have to wait for the next store to confirm all is well. Like I said great build and quality the filter deal just seems to be an oversight that could have easily been avoided, was not expecting to be in the dark after spending 7 thousand dollars a on a generator.James C.

That was a horrible experience to be without power for over two weeks due to living in the country running on well water. After some research, I decided the best generator for our family was the WGEN9500DF. For the price, I felt like I was getting much for my money compared to other similarly priced generators. My basic needs was to run our well pump, lights, and electrical outlets for refrigerators, internet, charge devices, and computer/tv. It handled that with no problems. I also found that I could run more electric devices than I anticipated like the water heater and electric stove(water heater and stove were used at separate times to keep the load minimal). The only thing I didn't run was the electric furnace and the clothes dryer which is too much for this generator, but we primarily heat our house with a wood stove anyways. What I love about the this generator is that it is dual fuel. The nice thing about propane is that you can store it indefinitely, I keep at least two 40lb tanks of propane on hand for emergency and usually have gasoline on hand that I use first before switching to propane. Switching fuel is easy with just turning the fuel selector switch to either propane or gas online. You can even switch the selector while the generator is running without an issues. My most favorite bonus feature is the remote control. We only run the generator when we absolutely need to so we can conserve fuel. The remote is super convenient, especially when it is raining out and you don't want to manually go out and start the generator. Just press the start button on the remote control and the generator starts no problem. We typically run the generator every 3 hours for about an hour to just keep the refrigerators cold and in the evenings until we go to bed. Then I turn off the generator with the remote control. We've have about 25 hours on the generator and have no issues. I would definitely recommend this generator.mark_17

I drained the battery trying to start it on gas (over 50 degrees outside) with choke and no choke, so I'm thankful it comes with a trickle charger that can be left plugged in overnight. I finally hooked up a propane bottle and it fired up immediately (no choke) at 33 degrees. Once started on propane, I have had no problems starting and running on either propane or gas – it definitely needs to be choked for cold starting on gas. The remote start is nice but I'll probably never use it – my wife will, lol! The enclosed operating manual is easy to follow. It is also a very simple 10 – 12 minute procedure to change the bonded ground wire on the inside of the alternator if needed as we did here at the ranch because of the GFCI plugs. After we got it up and running, we methodically started turning things on in the house without any issues. We have a 3300 sq. ft. (3 BR, 3 bath) house and ran the freezer and refrigerator, fire place blower/fan, had a light on in every room, a light in three closets, a light in all three bathrooms, and ran two electric space heaters, TV and the microwave – never had an issue. This unit is easily set up within minutes. I really only have two issues: 1) It was very hard to get started on gas the first time so I recommend starting on propane and you can easily switch from propane to gas and gas to propane while running, and; 2 (It takes forever to fill up because the screen on the fuel tank is so restrictive. I set it up this week to connect to my transfer switch to power some critical circuits in my house during power failures, which are unfortunately very common in the winter here in the Poconos. Contrary to other reviews, I found the owners manual to be completely accurate. I'm running the unit with gasoline, and I also have a 40lb propane tank hooked up for longer outages. Switching between fuel sources while the unit is running is very simple, though the unit will stumble while the fuels are being purged, so I recommend removing load during a switch over to avoid a stall. Starting the unit using the electric start is a real pleasure compared to the recoil starter on my old unit. A couple of caveats that aren't clear in the pre-purchase material: 1) The 14-30 plug on the unit provides a maximum of 30 amps, as expected, but be aware that this means a maximum wattage of 7500 watts is intended to be carried on that cable. If you need the full 9500 running wattage, that can only be supplied by the 50amp RV connector, which will not hook up directly to a 30 amp transfer switch. 2) In order to use the electric start (on the unit or using the remote) the battery switch on the generator must be in the "on" position. This limits the utility of using the remote starter unless you've anticipated a power outage and had the forsight to turn the battery switch on. 3) The comes with a bonded neutral, which may not be appropriate for use with older transfer switches which do not switch the neutral. In that circumstance, instructions are provided to make a minor alteration to unbond the neutral, but if you do, be aware that the GFCI protection on the built-in outlets will be lost, which could present a hazard. Better to not use the built-in outlets if you're going to be unbonding the neutral. Overall, a very solid product. I'll be sure to follow up after I've used it through a northeast winter.JoeMalt

I bought an XP12000 and brought it home a few month ago. We wanted it out back and had to have an electrician run a cable etc. He finished this afternoon about 3:30. We fired it up and everything worked fine. Tonight at 10:10, the power went out as a wind storm has hit the Northeast. I fired up the generator and I'm sitting here watching the World Series and writing to you fine folks. Other than the births of our children, etc., this is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me! Most of my life, the electrician would have been here next week. I'm going to get up first thing in the morning, open my automatic garage door and drive up to the store and buy a lottery ticket. I'll probably win! I just received my generator today the XP12000HX and I couldn't be happier. It arrived on time and undamaged. The care that was put into the packing and shipping was outstanding. The instructions were printed in large print with color pictures to guide me through a seamless assembly that took less than one hour. This beast is constructed to last many years. I was very happy with the quality and the care taken to produce this power house. I read many reviews online but what sold me was the review by Forbes ! Bought this beast on cyber Monday for $803. Box was damaged when it arrived but opened up and inspected before Amazon driver left and not a dent or scratch. Was easy to assemble the wheel and handle kit. Added oil, connected battery, propane tank and fired up with electric start on first push of the button. Have not tried gas yet. Read reviews of it being loud however found it no louder than my Honda lawn mower.Snapper

I brought the 1300ex duel fuel generator as an upgrade from a older 8500 generator I had for years. I wanted to be able to run my entire home off the generator. So after doing some research I decided to by this duro max. It has been EVERYTHING I had hoped for. This thing is powerful and It has run my entire house during a recent power outage. It’s much quieter than my previous generator and being able to run it off propane is just absolutely wonderful for me. The push button start is just the icing on the cake. I’m comfortable knowing my wife can operate this generator if I’m not home due to its easy setup and instructions. I would definitely recommend this generator to anyone looking to get great power, easy operation and reliability from their home generator.DJordan

I love my XP13000EH generator. I only use it with propane but it has no problem running my entire 1850 square foot home. I had an electrician handle the correct installation & installed several CO2 alarms just to be on safe side. The generator starts up every time with no issues. I will admit I have not turned on every appliance to see how it did. Having the refrigerator/freezer, ac, coffee pot, stove, microwave, television, and lights is more than enough plus hot water. Laundry can wait in my book to when the power returns. I sleep comfortably knowing this generator is in my garage. The noise level is not bad. I usually have enough juice for my neighbor to run a 115 extension cord to their house. And the 3 year warranty makes it even a better deal. I am now looking to buy the 15000 in addition to the one I have as an upgrade and keeping the 13000 as a back up or to loan to a neighbor in case of a storm. I really love these generators.BigFerg

So I have the 12,00 EH model for about 3 years now does what it’s supposed too do and backup my power up when needed. A few tips on break-in pull plug and drop table spoon of oil in and pull cord a few times so no dry start. Best to use Marvel Mystery oil and keep it on hand as I will later explain. Ok now on break oil use a non- synthetic four cycle oil run for a hour then change. Next repeat last step but run for two hours with a load on it then change oil agin. Now use a four cycle synthetic oil, tip stick with four cycle engine oil as they are formulated just for these motors unlike car oil. Amzoil and Honda are the best ones to use. If you are going to use gas, non- ethanol will save your carb in the long run, but if you are using just regular gas before cutting off gas turn cutoff valve to off and run out gas in line and then use drain screw on carb bowel to drain gas out carburetor before storing! On storage mode to keep motor in good shape, over long periods moisture will creep into motors, to stop this from happening, once agin pull plug and drop in a tablespoon of Marvel Mystery oil then pull cord 2-3 times then put plug back in. I usually fire mine up about once every 45 days. Then pull my plug and add M.M oil to store it with on each time unit is to be stored!K.T.

I've never had a generator before, so am new to all of this. I bought the Westinghouse WGen9500DF, The 12500 is the max starting watts, not the 12500 model, so that's a little confusing. So far, I am impressed with my purchase. Everything they promised appears to have been included. It seems well made, so hopefully that is true of all of the components and it will not only work whenever we need power, but it will do so for years to come. I was surprised that the 1.16 quarts of oil that came with it didn't quite fill it enough. I had to add a little bit. The funnel they sent worked great. I thought it was interesting that the maintenance instructions said to check the oil level without screwing the plug/dipstick in. It seemed a little difficult to be sure it was measuring properly without securing it by screwing it in. When I got enough oil in it I kept cross threading the plug, but eventually managed to get it in there properly. User error, I am sure. I liked that they sent a real wrench to use to tighten up the feet. They also included a spark plug wrench, which I haven't needed so far, but expect I will at some point. An nice extra little touch was that the two wrenches were in a little black bag that said Westinghouse on it. I expect this will be really helpful whenever I need to change the spark plug…maybe I'll notice that little bag and use their wrench, rather than it just sitting loose in my toolbox and my wondering what the heck that was for. This is my first Westinghouse product, so I will hopefully be able to quickly determine that it must go to the generator. The instructions said to set the generator on the exhaust side to put the feet and wheels on, so I did that. Instructions had also said to do this on a piece of cardboard or something similar to keep from scratching it up. I had to prop the bottom up a little to get the wheels on, which I think there may have been enough clearance without the cardboard being there. Propping it up was a little challenge because the generator is pretty heavy, but all of the parts were there and fit together the way they should; it was pretty easy to put on the feet and wheels. Once I had the wheels and feet on I found the generator to be pretty easy to move in spite of it's weight. The wheels and the handle appear to be up to the task. I moved the generator out beside the garage, which is where I anticipate will be where it will run when in actual use. I attached the propane hose that came with it to one of the tanks I have for my grill. Used the fob to start it up and it started right away. One "problem" was/is that it is really loud. However, I expected it to be pretty loud, so I certainly don't blame anyone for that. I left it running and went in the house and while I could hear it, it didn't appear that the noise would be any more disruptive than a gas powered lawnmower running outside. I pressed the button on the fob and it shut down as expected. Later I tried starting it again and had another user issue. I had attached a little gauge to the propane tank to see how much propane was still in it, and then attached the hose to the generator. Then tried to start it by pressing the button on the panel rather than using the fob. And it wouldn't start. It tried and tried. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, I switched the battery switch to off and it stopped trying. That's when I realized I had neglected to open the valve on the propane tank, so of course it wouldn't start. So, remedied that, tried it again, still wouldn't start. At this point I removed the gauge, hooked it back up, and it started. Now however, I don't know if the second attempt when it wouldn't start was due to the gauge limiting the propane flow, or just having tried to start it with the valve off. I will likely try again with the gauge and see what happens. I plugged my circular saw into each of the four 20 amp outlets and they all worked fine. I haven't yet tested the 30 or 50 amp outlets. I have an electrician coming to install a transfer switch and expect that I will be able to test them then…as well as testing a "real" electrical load. I have not tested it with gasoline either. If it will run the whole house, or most of it anyway, on propane, I may not use the gasoline option as I would rather not deal with all of the potential issues with storing the fuel itself, stabilizer, etc., but also keeping the generator from getting all gummed up, like draining the fuel bowl etc. Anyway, I am pretty satisfied so far.Rwolf15241

I bought this to run the electric heat pump at my house in the event of another very cold winter and long power outage. The heat pump takes only 24A when running. Even on propane, the gen output is rated 45A running and 56A peak. Yet this thing will not run my heat pump. As soon as the compressor kicks on, the rpm drops (momentarily?) and the voltage displayed goes from 241 to 214. At that point, the electronic control that is part of the heat pump reboots. It might make it if were were living in 1970 and no computers were involved in the controls. Not sure. Electrician told me that the little portable Chinese made air cooled generators should be derated by a lot, and will not handle what I was wanting to do. So now I'm stuck with a 400LB boat anchor. Oh, and the propane leaks through the engine when not running, so you have to turn the valve off at the supply whenever stopping. Support says this is normal. To me, that's like a gas engine with a stuck float that makes a lake of gasoline unless you shut the fuel valve every single time. But, the packaging it came in was very nice. Very disappointed. A good, water-cooled, American made permanently installed 30KW generator like Winco is over $25k. Plus installation, which is significant. But at least it would handle the job.mark253

Minor assembly went easily, added oil, connected the propane line, and started after about 2 seconds of cranking. Ran smooth, and quieter than expected. Was afraid for the worse when it arrived, as the packaging was destroyed by the shipper, but amazingly all the parts were there, and the wrap around frame protected the generator well. It arrived on end instead of on its base, but other than a couple minor scratches, it was undamaged. Great design, and well built! Really like the push button start, as well as the multi-function status meter on the front panel. It’s intended usage will be a back-up for the inevitable hurricanes here in Florida, so the bonus remote start key fob will allow me to cycle it as needed to conserve fuel, without having to trudge out in the weather to strop and start it. Really slick! It was specifically purchased due to its dual fuel capability, and unless it is an absolute emergency, it will never see gasoline. Have a 100lb tank of propane all ready to go, and know from experience that abstaining from gasoline will prolong engine life, not to mention never having to worry about propane going ‘bad’ if not used! Pulsar 12,000 watt generator went together as instructed. Hooked up propane hose and tank. Could not find any oil so had to go to the store to buy 30 weight oil for generator. once that was done turned the propane tank on set the choke and whalla generator started right up with the push of a button. turned propane tank valve off generator stopped. Put 2.5 gallons of gas in fuel tank set choke and pushed start button after turning on the fuel tank valve walla generator started right up. turned off gas tank valve and 3 min later generator stopped. Works ok kept my 35 foot trailer going and batteries charged up. hope it lasts for a while but felt the generator was a good buy for the 12,000 watt capacity.tanya_thoms

This is my second purchase of a dual fuel generator from seller. For people thinking about buying a generator this is the only way to go. With todays gas it gets old and shouldnt be burned once only a few months old due to the fact its no longer pure gas. Propane will last in a tank for years so will always be useable when your power goes out. This unit I just bought is large enough to handle most houses and the price was unbelievable compared to any store. Even better than Costco. Highly recommend you only use synthetic oil as it also doesnt get old. Put the oil in it, hooked it up to my propane tank and it started immediately.jfgeagle1

I moved into my new home this year in Texas not long after the freeze that affected the whole country. I live in a remote location where my nearest neighbor is over a mile down the road. We the only family who lives on this road. This is significant because we are the lowest priority in an outage. During the freeze my power was cut off for over two weeks. My pipes froze despite my best efforts to insulate them because I had no way to power my 220V water well. It was after I moved in I found out how unreliable the power was in a weather event (as I have lost it several times since during some thunderstorms). Each time lasted more than two days without power. Unacceptable. So I did my research and decided to buy a generator to backup my entire home. I carefully calculated my needs and arrived at the conclusion that I needed a generator at least capable of 12000 starting watts. I wanted something that could run on propane (if needed) in the event of a gas shortage. I was impressed with the price and features of the Pulsar G12KBN and it ultimately beat my other options. Well worth the two weeks wait for it to arrive freight from California. It had simple instructions to finish assembly and I had it ready to go in no time at all. Rigorously tested it for over an hour on propane underreal world load conditions and it exceeded my expectations. The largest power draw in my situation is the central ac unit. I was excited to see that it handled my needs with ease. An important note though: propane power output is less than running on gasoline so it is critical to calculate your power needs before making a decision on a generator. I almost bought a higher output standby generator for thousands of dollars more. So glad I didnt because this cost effective, very versatile generator is mobile and quite capable. My Generator was delivered and was in the box until it was installed today August 29, 2020. Upon turning it on, the certified electrician noticed that something was wrong with it and sure enough, the brass or copper accordion connector in the muffler line was not installed. I called factory pure, but only got the sales people who could not help me. I called Generac and now I have to wait for a certified repairman to come and inspect my 22kw Generac Generator. Brand new, never opened Generac generator and I already have problems with it. Extremely disappointed that it was not inspected by Generac before shipping and extremely disappointed that Factory Pure did not have someone available to assist. You guys do realize that mother nature, nor these generators, know about weekends. I bought the generator because after hurricane Helen, my family and I were without power for 25 hours. I wanted reliability and that is what I do not currently have. Very disappointed. Over $7,400 spent on the generator and installation combined and I have a brand new generator that is inoperable sitting in my lawn. Ridiculous!Ismael

Brand new 2 month old. Came on when Laura knocked out power. Work fine powered the house for 2 days and then just quit with underspeef error code 1600. 3 techs later they all safe it is rung good yet I cannot run my dryer and ac at the same time. Very disappointed with generac. It does not perform as they advertise it to do. I have septic treatment system with my home so it does prevent that from overflowing. I'd I were on city sewage, I think I would have never purchased this.Forrest B.

We moved into a new home, and because I am on oxygen full time I am in need of electricity to operate my oxygen concentrator. Generac was my answer. No mater where I looked there were none available. Your company had the only ones available in the soonest time. But, it was still about three months out. My guess is there is a high demand with all the devastation right now. Tony from NC as everyone has heard our power plant's were taken out. No power for 6 days. Duramax I give you 5 star's for engine and generator power. But no star's for assembly everytime I went to fill unit with gas I found nuts and bolts and control handles on ground. You must assemble these units with locking nuts or lock tight. To much vibration on any generator for regular nuts and bolts.i am in the process of replacing all nuts and bolts with lock tight and lock nuts. This is second generator I've purchased from this company and both are great. First one was the gasoline powered 4000 watt. Quiet and does what I needed it to do which is provide power for power tools. This This one was purchased as a backup to my p.v. system. Hopefully won't need it much. It started right up, give you everything you need except oil and the 50 amp plug. Runs great, pretty quiet and says it's putting out 8400 watts on the multi meter that's on the generator on propane. Plenty for what I purchased it to do. Super nice quality with a lot great features. Would definitely purchase again.Loren L.

So I have the 12,00 EH model for about 3 years now does what it’s supposed too do and backup my power up when needed. A few tips on break-in pull plug and drop table spoon of oil in and pull cord a few times so no dry start. Best to use Marvel Mystery oil and keep it on hand as I will later explain. Ok now on break oil use a non- synthetic four cycle oil run for a hour then change. Next repeat last step but run for two hours with a load on it then change oil agin. Now use a four cycle synthetic oil, tip stick with four cycle engine oil as they are formulated just for these motors unlike car oil. Amzoil and Honda are the best ones to use. If you are going to use gas, non- ethanol will save your carb in the long run, but if you are using just regular gas before cutting off gas turn cutoff valve to off and run out gas in line and then use drain screw on carb bowel to drain gas out carburetor before storing! On storage mode to keep motor in good shape, over long periods moisture will creep into motors, to stop this from happening, once agin pull plug and drop in a tablespoon of Marvel Mystery oil then pull cord 2-3 times then put plug back in. I usually fire mine up about once every 45 days. Then pull my plug and add M.M oil to store it with on each time unit is to be stored!K.T.

I purchased this generator back in 2016, and it ran well for the first year. After that, it was terrible. I couldn’t get it to start. I replaced the engine’s carburetor thinking that would fix the problem, and it did but for only a minute. The engine started and ran before it shortly blew up. A few days ago I decided I would pull it apart and see if it was salvageable. The first thing I found was a big hole in the top of the head. Being optimistic, I decided I would swap out the engine for a replacement. However, as I unmounted the engine from the generator I found a problem. I noticed that the generator turbine was stuck and not moving freely. I came to the conclusion that the turbine’s jamming is what caused the engine to blew up. I also noticed that the metal used on both the engine and generator was extremely flimsy. I had purchased a 3 year warranty but was unable to find until a couple years ago. (That’s a whole nother story.) If you are considering buying a DuroMax generator, DON’T! Stay away from them! If I could I would give it -4 stars.Charles

Not being a Electrician, I was unsure what size generator I needed. My brother is a master electrician and with his counsel I decided to buy the 13,000 W Duramax generator. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. After getting the generator wired in correctly I turned it on and operated everything in my house all at the same time except for the AC unit. I’m going to add a soft start to my AC unit then I will be able to run everything in my house when I need to. Absolutely no complaints about FactoryPure. Great price on a quality generator that was shipped to me in only a few days? What's not to love? I haven't done a long term test of this generator yet, but the initial testing after setup went great, with zero issues over the first few hours of run time. I have been a fan of Generac for the last 27 years, running the same Generac the entire time to power our home during frequent Florida power failures. My impression of this DuroMax generator is that it's made as well as that Generac, and is definitely a high quality unit. The excellent price will catch your eye. Installing it you will see that regular maintenance will be a greater challenge than any other auto-standby. There's a lot to disassemble to gain access.All generators vibrate but this one seems to dismantle itself with vibration. Of the ones I've worked with one had the carburetor fall off, another had the carburetor loosen to the point that it would not start. A third changed owners.I don't know why this one model would suffer such production problems but I truly believe that you can do better. It may be a higher cost in moving up a model, but peace of mind is priceless.SnowmanXT

When the loss of power was simulated the generator clicked in with less than a three second delay. I live in a rural small city in North Carolina and we have frequent power outages. We hold our breath when there is a heavy storm coming our way. I had our potable generator hooked up into the power supply but would have to go outside in the rain to start it and there was no way to know when the power was restored except to keep going outside to see if the meter was running. The standby generator was a necessary and logical move. It is great to have a feeling of comfort when the weather is bad or the power goes out for no reason at all. I chose the smaller 7.5 Kw because my Generac portable 8 Kw ran the necessary circuits to keep us comfortable. Although, I paid more to get it installed and to install a another propane tank dedicated to the generator I think the convenience was worth it.Richard M.

It was an easy replacement since the pad and most wires were already in place. After one crank to get the air out of the lines, it fired right up and ran smoothly. It sounds about as loud as the other unit. My only gripe is the top cover has 4 bolts that have to be removed every time you need to service the generator. The other unit had a nice locking lid that gave you easy access to the motor. This generator should meet my needs for many years to come.Richard P.

I bought this about 6 months ago and it works fantastic. Couldn't be happier. Wanted a portable generator for both home and play. Like the flexibility of dual fuel and being able to switching from 30A to 50A. the CO Alert is an added safety for the family. Would/have recommended DuroMax to family and friends.Dave

Luckily I have not had the need to run this in the emergency situation for which it was purchased. I have done some breaking in on the motor and it appears to run well on the propane. Packaging was solid and assembly instructions were good. This machine is HEAVY so make sure you have help doing the assembly. Overall I am very pleased, so far.G8rgrowler

I have had my generator for about a year at this point and am thrilled with the performance. As a contractor I have owned many generators over the years so I feel like I know a good one when I see it. I bought this to use during construction of my off-grid camp and it has worked flawlessly for about 800 hours now. I built a small enclosure for it, plumbed it directly to my 1,000 gal. underground LP tank, and wired a feed into my electrical panel. My builders love it. They simply push the button to start it and run any AC powered tools off the few receptacles we have installed. I have a couple generators that cost thousands of dollars so I didn't really expect much considering I paid less that $1,000.00. This unit is the best value for the money I have ever had in a generator. You can't go wrong with this Westinghouse.Jim W.

Bought this new 7500 DFc from Home Depot to be used as a backup generator for hurricanes in our area. Assembled the generator as described, fully charged the battery, put in 5 gallons of fresh gas and followed instructions to start the generator. Generator turns over but refused to start. Double checked off/on switch, fuel off/on switch choke, still no go. Ran the battery dead on starting. Recharged the battery overnight and tried hooking the generator up to propane. This time it started but will not restart on propane if shut down. Waited another day and the generator started up again on propane. While running on propane tried switching to gas mode, but the generator immediately died and would not restart on propane. I had a Westinghouse 5500 generator before and it was super reliable. I've called Westinghouse customer service twice with no resolution. I hope they will honor their 3 year warranty. I will update this post accordingly.QAKQ

I received this unit today and was excited to start it up for break in and testing. Initially the unit would not start on the gas option after two hours of trying. As I continued to troubleshoot and eliminate root causes, I switched over to propane and it fired right up. Thus, I had a gas issue but that's all that I knew. I went through all of the troubleshooting suggestions but nothing worked. Finally I decided to remove the small solenoid on the bottom if the carburetor and found my issue. It poured gas as I was removing it and upon full removal I noticed the small needle valve was slightly stuck. After a few gentle pushes with my finger, I then remounted it and it fired up as expected. I then ran it for about 30 minutes to clear out any gunk in the fuel system. I suspect it was factory fired but not with quality fuel which left some gummy residiue, and caused the small needle valve to stick. The corrective action is not for the general consumer with limited mechanical skills, nor should they be required. Factory testing should also include fuel or cleaning options that would allow the purchasing consumer the ability to start with minimum effort and instructions just like with the propane option. Looks like a fantastic unit and trust that it will serve my purpose when needed so overall I gave it a 4 rating for now. Without the gas starting issues, I would have rated it a 5 based on apperance and overall construction. It is a bit heavy which makes it difficult to transport on uneven surfaces (e.g. gravel, dirt, etc.).Shooter59xx

I bought this last year during Florida's Hurricane No Tax Day, glad to have when needed. I test it every month and it works great. I love the dual fuel feature, especially with the price of gas now. My only regret is I wish the Tri-Fuel generator was available last year and I would have bought it instead. Love the instruction manual, very understandable. I bought this model March 2021 in preparation for Hurricane season in Louisiana. I was not expecting to deal without power for two weeks because of Hurrican Ida passing through on August 29, 2021. This Dual fuel generator made a HUGE difference! It powered my whole house including central A/C. The best part about dual fuel, gasoline is hard to find during a crisis. However you have the option to use propane which was my main source of fuel. My Duro Max Hybrid model XP10000EH ran for two weeks for about 20 hours daily, of course I kept the oil change up and did let it rest for fuel changes.Roy

After 3 power outages lasting more than 2 days, all in 2020 adding to the misery of the pandemic, I bought this generator last September 2020. I had a generlink transfer switch installed on my electrical meter. First power outage yesterday and hold and behold, I fired the generator and it worked like a charm. I did not miss a beat and was able to continue working with no problem. I built a little shed to house it close to the meter so I do not have to wheel it in bad weather or deep snow. I keep the roof closed and the 3 sides opened. My neighbors said like it sounded like a far away lawn mower. I could hardly hear it in the house. I am very happy and preparedmrscravette

The generator was boxed well. I appreciated (among other things) it comes with No-Flat tires. For the most part assembly went well except the battery was difficult to connect with the provided tools. The propane regulator that is provided has a QCC Type-1 fitting to connect to the propane tank, I had to purchase a POL to QCC Type-1 adapter to connect to my 100 lb. tanks (for the minimal cost of an adapter I would have thought Duromax could have anticipated the possible need and provided it). The rubberized dust cap for the Generator's propane input fitting broke off the very first time I touched it. The User Manual that comes with the Generator is deficient in the full explanation/description of all the functional and operational elements. The Generator started with the first push of the start button, and it runs very well. I am very happy with my purchase, although my comments may seem minor, they were, to me, what cost them a fifth star. If I could ask for one additional feature it would be a means to wirelessly monitor the Generator output and load specifics (Volts, Amps, Watts per leg). Finally, let me forewarn you if you want or need to call Customer Service, they do not like to answer their phone or respond to messages left, in a timely manner.MCM93675

I’ve had this generator for three years. I’ve run central air, three tv’s, laptops, the dishwasher, two refrigerators, a chest freezer, washer, dryer, and lights simultaneously during summer blackouts that lasted multiple days in Long Island. This generator was only at half capacity while we ran these. Having this extra power gives me the confidence that I will not compromise the machine by taxing the engine near its limit for so many consecutive days of use. It is easy to maneuver with strong handles and big, sturdy wheels despite its weight. It’s extremely easy to use with gasoline or propane (simple start/stop instructions are on the machine). To my surprise, it’s MUCH quieter than I anticipated (considering it’s power). It’s become so much the envy of my neighborhood that one of my neighbors sold one he purchased a few years back and purchased this same model last fall. For what it’s worth, this neighbor is very mechanically inclined and knowledgeable: he repairs his cars, motorcycle, and appliances, as well as helps his neighbors when they have mechanical issues. You can use extension cords; however, I recommend having an electrician connect it to your electric panel via a transfer switch and an inlet box. We finally purchased a generator bc we lost hundreds of dollars in spoiled food each time we lost power, as well as sweated through many nights with our children.Jose

I bought this generator recently, and with a friend‘s help, I was able to set it up pretty easily, although putting the wheels on was somewhat difficult. Very well detailed instructions, and the generator ran perfectly from the start. I needed an electrician to prepare the house for running the generator, but I have used it three times since then with no problems at all. I even showed a friend who bought the same generator how to set it up. It will run our whole-house air conditioner as well as refrigerators, microwave, computer, television, and some lights, With power to spare. I hope we won’t have to use it, but if a power outage occurs, we will be completely prepared. I highly recommend this product.Kit322
