Best Dyson Cordless Vacuum For Hardwood Floors (2024 Update)

I've been using my Dyson for 9 months. It's very quiet compared to any of my previous Dysons. I am very impressed with its suction on carpets and hard floors and it does a good job sucking up dirt and dust close to the skirting boards etc. It has no problem with larger items either. Sometimes it's suction is too good and even though you can turn the suction down, a few of my mats are almost impossible to clean without them being sucked up into the roller bar. It's very light to carry up and downstairs and can get further under furniture than my old Dyson. It's very manoeuvrable which makes it a joy to use. The button to switch the roller bar on and off is located near the on/off switch which is an excellent idea. The design of the roller bar means that it rarely gets anything, like hair, wrapped around it, making the job of unclogging the roller redundant. Unfortunately, the dust canister is very hard to empty and clumps of hair get stuck at the top of it every time I empty it. The only solution to this is to take it apart and remove the hair by hand. Never had this problem before. Another negative are the tools and the extending hose. The hose is not that easy to extend, it feels like it's trying to twist out of my hand as I extend it. The crevice tool is a lot slimmer than my old one which makes it useful for getting into narrow places but I find it too long and therefore, uncomfortable to use for some jobs. The brush is only useful for high level cleans, like getting cobwebs off the ceiling, as it sits at the end of the long crevice tool and is extremely hard on your wrists using it on anything which is close to you, such as furniture or animal bedding. Never had this problem with previous models and I've always found the tools to be very user friendly until now. Unfortunately my old tools are not interchangeable with this new machine which is a disasppointment. Overall I am pleased with the performance of the machine but would not consider buying another one unless the tools are redesigned.ChrisJM

I have been holding out on buying/trying a Dyson since they came out just having a feeling that they were a lot of "hype" – but with my shark aging and buying new carpets AND this being a stellar deal on Black Friday – I decided to give it a try. I am sad to say it was a big mistake. I am not sure how this thing has such a great overall star rating when many of the top reviews are much like mine… hopefully you all read them before you buy. First, it has great suction. Like so great that it doesn't even work on my new carpet. I do not have a high pile frieze or shag – it is a regular plush carpet and this thing jams up and the roller stops and it is impossible to push. Works great on my hard floors and cheap Berber carpet – but that's about it. The wand is useless – totally cumbersome and tips the machine over. The ball/roller squeak every time I push it forward and pull it back. The handle doesn't stay clicked to the base, so when you tip it back to try to wheel it to put it away etc. it flops down hard onto your floor. Also, it is SO loud and smells like something is burning every time I use it. I am having a really hard time believing that this has some sort of cosmic "superior" design. It is so flawed in the most basic of ways! I will NEVER buy a Dyson again – lesson learned.jmickels

Purchased this a couple of weeks back, and what a joy the thing is to use! We have a Chocolate Labrador, a toddler and (somewhat) cream carpets, so as you can imagine, pet hair and debris etc. is very obvious! We have previously owned/used other manufacturers products, and whilst the uprights were 'competent', they were nowhere near as good as this. Most recently, unfortunately, our old upright 'blew up' and we were in dire need of something new: enter the Dyson Light Ball Animal. Easy to construct when you get it out of the box, surprisingly quiet for such a powerful vacuum, and the motorised brush at the front, able to cover all floor types and with a 'stronger'/'weaker' setting it's very versatile. Includes the usual handheld attachments and also a mini motorised pet tool for those tougher ingrained areas. The hose is quite long, but it can be a little awkward when using on stairs due to the awkwardness of the wheels and 'ball' mechanism when not on a more traditional flat surface, but this is easily manageable. Using the ball to get around takes a little getting used to, when so accustomed to traditional uprights, but you soon get used to it, and it's really great. It almost feels like flying! When on the standard or 'lower' power mode you'd barely know you're using it, and the 'max' power mode makes a huge difference, the suction power is VERY noticeable. Easy to empty, simply press the button to release the bin, push down a pin to open the compartment and then shake the dust free and away you go. My only complaint is that the construction of the 'bin' around the handle is a little flimsy. You can hear it squeak and shake around as you handle it, just feels like really flimsy low-quality build when compared to the rest of it overall. I guess I was hoping for something more sturdy for what is a high premium for a vacuum cleaner. Overall though, the thing is excellent, and having the 5 Year guarantee from Dyson direct as well is really helpful. Gives peace of mind for sure, makes it more of an investment. I just wish we had nice new carpets to go with it, aside from stains, they'd never be dirty!BCM88

First, the positive: Initially, this was a great purchase. Powerful and lasts for long enough for most jobs, and that's still the case after 3 years. Now the negative: Since about 6 months ago, when starting use after it's been on charge for easily sufficient time to fully charge, it cuts out within about 20 seconds, plug it in for 30 seconds, it works for 20 seconds, plug it in for 30 seconds, it works for 20 seconds, plug in again and it then usually works for some 6 minutes on full power. This is simply a defective unit as the battery is clearly still holding the charge. Wouldn't rush to buy a Dyson again.RobS53

We had a precious model DC34 which served us well until the motor died. We also have a V10 and a Miele plug in for the bigger jobs, and wanted to replace the hand held This gets regular light use .Despite emptying after every use and washing the filter it started pulsing.My wife and I have just spent a quite few hours cleaning the machine.the filter was totally clogged inside and more importantly the interior, inside the shiny perforated cylindrical right up to the cyclones was full of debris /clogged . Dyson , can you put an official video up how to clean it please . The old Hand held DC34 was a simpler and effective design and never clogged up like this one .Padraic

Bought this to do small pickups after a sweep of the floor, and to clean the car. It's proven handy when doing a bit of DIY around the house, where you can immediately pickup any small debris left from drilling etc. For very quick jobs it's good, but the "standard" power mode is a bit of a joke as it can barely pick up dust let-alone bigger objects like spilled cereal and a bit of dirt. Max power has some decent suction and, with the motorised tool, makes short work of cleaning rugs and carpets, but this only last for around 6 minutes, so again is only good for quick jobs. Like other reviewers, I also had the intermittent power issue, but after following the support video step by step, it started working again – I had cleaned everything else before following the steps, but didn't know about the easy to remove and clean filter. Generally, I find it quite easy to clean and put back together, actually much easier than the dyson cylinder vac (where I have to pull the bin apart to get out the hair). I am a bit torn on this machine, I do like a dyson, and I end up using the handheld on average twice a day, but it could just be a bit better. Given that it is a similar price to the cylinder vac, I was expecting a bit more. A killer feature would be the ability to run it while plugged in – I know this defeats the purpose of the "cordless" handheld, but running out of power when you only have a couple of minutes to go is quite infuriating. OMG! I didn't think it was possible, but I've fallen in love with a vacuum. Tried cordless before and dissatisfied with suction, battery life, etc. This model came with all the attachments I could possibly use. Suction is fantastic for any vacuum, let alone a cordless. Keeps a charge long enough to vacuum whole house. Works great on all the area rugs, hardwoods and tile floors. Super easy to empty the canister too. Very easy to change attachments for upholstery, curtains, beds, walls, whatever. It can maneuver into almost any space. I have multiple pets and this baby can handle all their messes. I really loved this vacuum until the motor broke after only one year. I guess that’s what happens when you purchase a refurbished item vs a brand new one. The overall vacuum is great. The canister holds a lot before you need to empty it, and it truly lives up to being a “pet vacuum.” I have a husky and it was able to handle all of his fur. Perfect for vacuuming hardwood floors, as well as area rugs and dog beds. Definitely just purchase a brand new one instead of refurbished!Danni

It has been my intention to complain about this machine since it failed in May of 2021, but life is busy and there never seem to be enough hours in the day. At first this machine was terrific. It sucked up dirt from both my bare floors, and my carpets. The charge lasted through cleaning the entire house. This Dyson refurb was only 2 YEARS OLD when it started to fall apart. First the slider that opens the unit to dump out the debris BROKE. That whole debris canister just falls off the unit. I have to take it outside and dump it by hand! Next I had to crazy glue the carpet cleaning attachment because the rubber in one corner came loose, and with every sweep of the vacuum cleaner, that rubber ripped further. With tax I spent a lot of money for a vacuum cleaner that lasted 2 years before it broke. PLUS I had to buy more filters after one year, because they plug up. They do NOT clean fully when you wash them. I don’t have pets. I wash that new filter EVERY TIME I use the vacuum cleaner now, because the one that came with the unit failed when I followed the instructions and only washed it when the light came one. Buying paper bags is WAY cheaper! I’ve always bought Sears vacuum cleaners in the past. They always lasted between 7 and 10 years. My Wife bought a bought a Dyson V8, and within 1 year realized it was useless so she decided to upgrade to this model. The power and battery life are better, but everything else is just as bad. This is handyman's vacuum, meaning if you want to tinker with your appliance more than using it, then the Dyson Cyclone is for you. It doesn't work long enough to clean a 800 sqft carpet. The battery is fine, but half way through it starts to suffocate for air, and says the filter is clogged. Our filter is literally always sitting out drying because it has just been cleaned. The vacuum is never available when you need it, because the filter is either off the vacuum or it is sending error messages that it needs to be cleaned. In addition to that, the cup is way too small, it doesn't pick up dirt nearly as well as our 15 year old Electrolux, and I'm almost afraid to use it because it feels so flimsy. The only thing Dyson has done right is marketing. I wouldn't say I'm the best runner in the world if I had to stop for a break and eat a pizza half way up a flight of stairs. I bought this V10 Motorhead a few months back after the new year and happened to catch it on sale for a price I couldn't pass up on. Was deciding on the V8, V10, or V11 and I'm glad I made the right choice as I live in a condo which opting for the smaller dust bin size was a no brainer. The V11 had a lot of extra bells and whistles, but not necessary for the average user. The new design putting the device in line with the dust canister is a plus, it gives the vacuum a cleaner look, and boosts the suction power in my opinion. The point and shoot mechanism is good, but just be careful not to push too too hard on the lever if it gets sticky as I've read other reviews that other people ended up breaking the red tab. Just empty the bin often to avoid the dust from caking and it will work like a charm. I lucked out and was able to score a soft roller head from kijiji for $40.00 from a person selling it as they used it as a floor model at their store, so now that will upgrade my vac to almost an Absolute minus some attachments, bin size, and color. The red color for this vacuum is vibrant and pleasing to look at don't get me wrong. The direct drive cleaner head that comes with the vacuum works really well on my sofa bed to pick up my dogs brown hairs and the lowest setting does the job on almost all surfaces. I did my research and the direct drive cleaner head does a better job than the torque drive cleaner head and it's not as chunky as well. If there are cheerios/bigger pieces on the floor i just switch over to the soft roller! The crevice tool works well when sucking up dirt in corners and hard to reach areas. The combination tool works well with small rugs and delicate surfaces. The noise level is pretty quiet in my opinion and it doesn't annoy or scare my dog either even with the futuristic sound it makes. This is the lightest out of all the V10 models. I have nothing bad to say about this vacuum as I use it almost on a daily basis and I would highly recommend this to anyone living in a condo.Dennisthemenace

I wanted the convenience of a cordless but didn't want to give up function. I bought a Sh#rk for a little less money and it was worthless. Returned it and bought this hoping it would work similarly to the Dyson Ball that I've had for many years. I was not disappointed. It's has incredible suction. The collection bin is small but that's part of what makes it light and easy to use, I just empty it regularly. I highly recommend this vacuum!hilmas_27

Wow! Wow! Wow! This vacuum is super powerful and lightweight. I can accomplish the vacuuming task quickly not having to lug around the heavy canister vacuum and trip over the electrical cord. I keep looking behind me to pull on the cord and the machine – but there is none! This is what I call amazing! P.S. I love anything made by Dyson – excellent technology and quality. It’s as powerful as our older plug-in standup Dyson, and I appreciate the ease of cordless. The only negative is you have to keep pressing the trigger with your finger to make it go, which is really tiresome if you’re doing multiple rooms. We’re probably just going to jerry rig it so we don’t have to keep pressing the trigger to stay on. It also doesn’t hold as much dust as our old upright, but, it is also easier to dump out the dust than before. I like that it’s much more convenient to carry up stairs. Pros: It was noticeable how the rotating brushes really groomed the carpet pile with good suction & is driven by its own motor within the head. The additional accessory; small longer rotating brush used on the stairs without the long poll made a great job of the stairs. Cons: We have just purchased this v8 to replace a v6 animalBoth vacs connections seem not to join rigidly with a bit of play which will eventually put extra stress & would benefit from some kind of rubber grommet between the connecting long poll to tighten both the head & main casing. Also the replacement batteries seem expensive. The charger wire insulation is too stiff & made of some kind of vinyl/inflexible plastic which seems inflexible & eventually splits & uncovers the very thin wires next to the 3 prong plug body, which can then pull away.We have had 5 batteries with the older model & note this new one is the same. They all become split eventually. Needs to be a rubberised material instead.Ian

I got a V7 in Jan 2019. Initially, and for about 1.5 yrs., I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then my housecleaner told me a charge didn't last more than 10 mins. Because I have another plug-in vacuum, I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I hired another cleaner. She brought her own vacuum so it hasn't been used at all since Jan 2022. Just in the last week, I tried to use it and it only lasted about 30 seconds. I had a very good experience with the website and service person on the phone but I have been advised that a new battery is necessary. If that is correct, I must say that I am disappointed in Dyson. I expected better performance from their machine. For a machine that is 3 1/2 yrs. old and only used perhaps 2 years of that (and not solely because I have another machine), I think the battery should last longer. And, if the cost of the battery is 1/4 of the price of the machine, I think that is even more disappointing. And, it's the cost of the battery + shipping. My carpenter husband has battery powered tools, uses them consistently and has never had to replace a battery. That knowledge doesn't help me. Is it possible that the charging station is defective? At any rate, as much as I loved it in the beginning, I'm pretty unhappy at present. I recommended my vacuum to lots of friends at first but now, I would have to tell them the whole story and what to expect.Bren

The Good: The vacuum unit itself is exceptional, with excellent suction, ease of maintenance, run time, and insofar longevity; it competes well with your average full-sized canister vacuums, which is truly impressive given the size of the Dyson. The hype, on this front, is valid. The Bad: However, the well-built central unit is let down by tools and accessories with components made from fragile, heat-molded plastic. Essentially, only the mechanical drive components are made from metal (I think), but everything else is plastic. While Dyson boasts that the main machine body is made from "ABS Polycarbonate" (think: riot shields), the smaller components seem to be made of high-density polyethylene or similar material. Our smaller motorized head unit suffered a breakage in the head-to-guard joint, which should not be the case for a relatively new, seldom used part. The use of brittle plastic in such a high-wear area by the spinning rotor seems at best poor design, at worst planned obsolescence. I understand that full-metal construction is a thing of the past, but "full-plastic" construction is not a viable alternative; some components need to be metal, full stop. The Ugly: Unfortunately, warranty details are misleading as they apparently do not include the tools, and nowhere in the warranty documentation provided was there a distinction between "tools" and the "unit." While I understand that normal wear-and-tear is to be expected and therefore not covered by warranty, I am disappointed with the craftsmanship of a really expensive product that utilizes non-durable heat-molded plastic for high-stress areas, specifically around moving joints. The concern is that having both motorized head units break renders the unit unable to clean carpet or furniture fabric, reducing 90% of its utility, and will cost you ~$200 extra to purchase the new motorized heads. In closing; a great unit overall, but my confidence in the product is let down by the fragility of the core tools and some of the convenient language of the warranty provided. Either warranty everything you produce or make it clear that the warranty only applies to the literal vacuum itself.Marcus_W

Purchased Hoover – 6 weeks ago Good points – delivered quickly, well packaged, looks solid, quite a few accessories, Looks and feel nice. Bad points ,way to heavy to pick up and move around as many have said before. Takes to long to charge, digital displays are just a gimmick and just add to the cost and running of the machine. The wall bracket is made from cheap plastic and feels like it’s going to break when slotting in and taking out the heavy hoover. Bracket looks very cheap for a premium product at the high end of the price bracket.. The Battery occasionally stops / starts for no reason – don’t know if this is a design feature to save on battery life – although I doubt it – very disappointing. Final thoughts – Disappointed!! – although I have bought Dyson hoovers in the past and been happy with them — i would find it hard to recommend this product for the reasons mentioned above, I had hoped for better. The hoover does not feel as if it’s any more powerful than previous models I’ve had before, it doesn’t live up to the Hype. I really wanted to love this vacuum. I was excited to receive it, but that excitement was short lived, much like the battery life. I charged the battery to full power, and started cleaning the couch. All was going well as it seem to be getting a lot of dust and dirt out of the cushions. 3 cushions in and the battery died. I charged it again and tried the floors. It seems to have good suction power, but does kick back a bunch of dirt. If you have the space and the money and want a high end “dust buster” then go for it. If you’re looking for something to clean your couch cushions or mattress like they showed on air, then keep looking. Unless you enjoy taking ALL day to do your chores and stopping every 15 mins to recharge the battery.JennyK1234

Just got this today. I have a 3 bedroom home that’s carpeted with the exception of kitchen and bathrooms. House was just cleaned two days ago. First, I did all floor surfaces in less then 30 minutes. Amazed at how much stuff it picked up. I didn’t realize there was a trigger you hold while using it. It’s so much easier then flipping a power on and off switch every time you stop or move things. I will also note battery came partially charged and I did not charge prior to using (I was too excited to try it.) no issues with how long this lasted or power in general. Love all the tools! This is a game changer for me. Also, this is so light weight and that makes it so much easier to move around with it. This is my favorite new toy! It sucks up more dirt even after I’ve vacuumed with my Shark! Now I’m finally able to shampoo my carpet without accumulating dust bunnies in my shampooer. It even works great on my kitchen floor. Best vacuum I’ve owned due to its lightweight material and excellent performance. It sucks up pet hair and long hair without getting tangled in the vacuum. It can reach and turn in a wide range of directions. The only down sides are that its power trigger must be held at all times to keep the power on. However, you can buy an attachment on Amazon to keep the power on without having to hold the trigger. Also, for some reason, I can’t consistently easily detach the canister from the wand. Might take practice. It has user friendly and simple instructions to get started. Cordless is the way to go! Note I haven’t used any of the accessories yet except for a pet hair groomer that I bought separately and that worked great.Christina

Owned homes for 45 years, probably as many vacs, because I'd buy new ones because the newest and greatest latest vacs weren't so great! Years ago I tried Dyson and Shark. Shark destroyed my rug. When I tried Dyson- the Upright Animal, I knew that was it, my search was over. I added the Upright Compact When the Stick came out- that was it! NO MORE CORDS! I still have the Uprights, but they're barely used, though still working fantastically. I'll pass them on to someone. BUT THE STICK IS AMAZING. I can do my entire 4 level split SINGLE multi room-4 bed, 3 bath, playroom, basement, fam and liv room, sunroom, with various types of flooring: area rugs, hardwood, slate, LVPlanks, tile, and animals, grandchildren,. I've never run out of battery, I use low or medium, mostly medium. . My first V10 was $700. It was worth it, by the time I bought a vac every year or 2, the cost was as much as the Dyson, and they weren't the power nor built as well- those awful belts, bags, etc., constantly taking part for hair, string, removal. If you're on the fence, or deciding between this and the V8 at $50 less(though still a good vac), this is the better deal at $150 off with larger bin, better suction, 3 speed modes, battery status. I'm buying a second at this price!!!skittles2

I purchased this vacuum not even 2 years ago and have already had to call for a warranty. This thing overheats and when attempting to change the filter on the ball… not easy and the cost for new filters is not worth it. It’s almost 70 dollars for two new filters. I understand that clean filters are necessary but why are they so expensive? You can’t wash them like the old dysons because these are enclosed in plastic and would never dry.I have an old upright dyson that never gave me trouble like this one. So although this vacuum had great suction —-It gets so hot when I vaccum that I seriously worry that it is going to start a fire. I have to shut it down repeatedly and let it cool off. I contacted dyson today and I will say their customer service rep was great. I am now waiting for my shipping info to send Vaccum in for warranty work. It is a terrible inconvenience and now I am without a vacuum after purchasing what I thought would be the best. To make matters worse it has to be shipped and can not be repaired locally or so I was told. So disappointed ☹️ I would not purchase this vacuum again.JoyceG

I purchased this vacuum to replaced the thirteen year old Dyson DC17 that finally broke and I could no longer get replacement parts for it. After considerable use I can assure you that this vacuum will impress with it's capabilities. We have three dogs and two cats so pet hair is an issue. This vacuum easily outperformed the DC17 in the pet department picking up pet hair I didn't even know existed. Compared to the DC17 this vacuum is very quiet in use. About half the noise compared to my old vacuum. The collection bin is considerably smaller compared to my old Dyson and requires more frequent emptying but that isn't a big deal. This vacuum comes with a nice assortment of tools but what it doesn't include is the $50 hard surface floor tool. Our home is mostly hardwood and tile downstairs with the exception of the master bedroom so the floor tool was a must. Dyson should include this considering the cost of the vacuum! The other issue is that it is an outright lie to advertise this vacuum as "no filter maintenance" required. Not true! The vacuum has HEPA filters that will need to be replaced about once a year to keep the performance of the vacuum like new. Instead it should be advertised as no pre-filter maintenance required. Overall I would recommend this vacuum. The price is steep but in the end you do get what you pay for in performance. As I said, don't advertise as no filter maintenance when you have to replace filters and for the price Dyson needs to step up and include the hard surface floor tool instead of making it an accessory!budbrande

I've had this vacuum for a while now, it was gifted to us as a wedding gift. The suction is great and the cord is long, however, there are two inconveniences that drive me nuts. #1 it will not pick up any of my cats food as the pieces are "too big"… for this vacuum at least. Our last vacuum we were able to actually raise and lower the deck of the vacuum for different depths of flooring/carpet which was nice because it would suck up the cat food – however the suction on that vacuum was nowhere near as good as the dyson. My 2nd gripe is that if you want to just use the hose you have to undo the ENTIRE cord because of the way its mounted. So, sometimes I just want to get in-between a crevice real quick and have to undo the cord just to wrap it all back up again. The V7 is my first Dyson, and I am both highly impressed and highly disappointed – if that's possible. It has great suction and works far better than I expected on carpet. I expected it to be great on our hard floors but not have the power required to do a decent job on carpet, but I was pleasantly surprised! But wow is it disappointing on hard floors! It picks up very small debris brilliantly, but anything bigger than dust is likely to be flicked all over the floor by its rotating motorised head. Dyson do not make a hard floor tool for the V7, but fortunately, V8 attachments fit the V7. So if you can get your hands on the Soft Roller Head from the V8, you'll be happy. I contacted Dyson and they were very understanding (after some firm words) and sold me a V8 Soft Roller Head for $130. Might have been better getting the V8… All of that said, I very rarely use my corded vacuum now, and will absolutely be buying another Dyson whenever this one meets its end!skinninmckinnon

I'm so pleased with my new vacuum cleaner. I've had two other brands before it so my expectations were pretty average. Well surprise surprise. For a stick, battery-operated vacuum cleaner, this is better than the one I haul around the floor. It's efficient and fun to use. 1. It attaches to the wall so doesn't get dusty or take up floor-space 2. It's easy to disconnect from the wall-fitting and the attachments attach and detach like a dream. I promise you, you'll play with them for a while! 3. It vacuums up stuff off surfaces and from awkward places that I have taken for granted needed extra cleaning by hand. 4. The 'maxi-suck' setting (my word, not theirs) lifts my mother's ancient threadbare carpet off the floor, so I imagine it would have little trouble cleaning a deep-pile new carpet (I quickly learnt to use the low-suck). I was having so much fun that I took the vacuum cleaner out onto the balcony to vacuum the artificial grass. That was a hoot. I pretended I was mowing the lawn, and it looked as though I had! So neat. 5. Emptying the thing is a breeze. I assumed it would be difficult (I don't read instructions) so put off the deed until the leaves off the 'lawn' made me feel I ought, before the chamber go too full. Don't expect it to be complicated . . . it's really easy to empty! And so satisfying to see all that stuff tumble into the bin! Truly, you are going to have fun with this thing! I got the cheaper one because it was for my elderly mother who asked me to choose one and insisted on paying. I can't imagine what the pricier one must be like. Love it! Trishkrol_tris

I'm hoping it remains a 5 star. Only had it a month. I still have my original Dyson DC07 – have had it for 15 years and it still works great. I have pets in the house and back problems, so dragging out the big upright everyday as become too much, so I don't vacuum as often as I would like. I LOVE THIS CORDLESS! 5lbs with the floor brush and wand. I'm still getting used to the limited use time 6 – 20minutes, but my house is small. I am able to use the cordless and floor attachment on hard floors and touch up on carpets. I will still used the upright now and then for a good deep clean of my carpets. I love using the cordless for dusting! The short soft brush attachment is great for getting into tight places, funny surfaces, hard to reach places. I generally use it on the maximum suction, which cuts down on use time – only about 6 minutes, but is most efficient. Getting used to a routine, maneuvering the head (love the swivel floor attachment). The canister emptying is great. I don't have to reach in to loosen a wad of dog hair since the prefilter gets wiped off when you open the canister to dump. I watched a YouTube video which made it so easy to set mine up and get to work. A bit inconvenient that I have to let the head cool down before putting it back on the charger. The instructions say to do that to prolong the life of the battery, so I do that. I usually leave the head somewhere in my way so I remember to put it back on the charger. 3.5 hours charging time for 6-20 minutes of use is a bit inconvenient, but I am so glad not to be wrestling power cord and hose and lugging the upright in and out of storage, tripping over cord, cord getting stuck under a door or on furniture. Who really wants to vacuum for longer than 6 – 20 minutes anyway. Now if I have a bigger cleaning I want to do, I'll do the main hard floors at night, let the head charge over night, and it's ready to go in the morning for a bit more. I would never give up my full size upright Dyson – because it is so faithful and best for carpeting, plus will be good for any deep cleans that take a while longer. It would be horrible to get into the middle of a cleaning project and have to wait 3.5 hours for the cordless to recharge. About a month in and I'm VERY HAPPY WITH THE V7 ANIMAL.sharokeith

Like the title says, this vac is great for small jobs and touch ups. Don't expect this to be your primary vac for a full-sized house. First, the battery won't last that long (even on normal not MAX). Second, since all of the weight is at the handle, it gets hard on your wrist pretty quickly. My last recommendation is to make sure that you empty the dust bin OUTSIDE. It's hard to empty without dust flying all over the place. If there's long hair inside, you're going to have to stick your fingers or something in the dust bin to get it to come out…messy. Recommended when it's on sale.M

Dyson's V8 Origin Vacuum is an awesome vacuum to have . Upon opening my Dyson the instructions were clear, easy to read & understand. Assembly of the Dyson was very easy a few clicks ( slide piece into corresponding piece & they click together) & everything is good to go. You plug cord into outlet & the top of the Dyson. Let it charge for about an hour & you're good to vacuum. You can not vacuum while plugged in, kinda the purpose of a cordless vacuum BUT A charge last roughly 30-45 minutes ( pretty good, definitely a plus) depending how you use it ( whether it's a powerful ( max) or less powerful). Whether you are using max or not it picks up everything. Powerful gets all the dirt & grime out of your rugs or plain floors, I use the less max for bathroom & kitchen rugs, it gets the dirt out but won't suck up your rug up, I love that. The vacuum comes with an attachment that is easily changed, simply click button to dislodge the bottom vacuum & add attachment with a click. That attachment has 2 uses with or without brissles ( brush like) great for getting ceiling or woodwork dust. Dyson V8 Origin Vacuum is a lightweight vacuum and is very easy to maneuver especially in tight spots, gets under couches, chairs & tables with ease. The dirt chamber is clear & and you can see when it needs to be emptied. To empty the dirt chamber you lift up the lever to about 3 clicks & bottom of chamber emptied the dirt. Everything is clearly noted & easy to use. When vacuuming, in order to vacuum which may be a pro or con depending on your liking, you do need to continue to hold the button to vacuum, once you let go it stops. That also could be very useful such as if you suck something up that you're not supposed to just let go and it stops. The filter section can be washed out. I also love that the vacuum itself ( bottom) that sucks everything up has a clear covering that shows if you have hair that needs to be removed & that area is wide enough to be able to get anything out if needed to be. The vacuum swivels greatly to get all areas. I absolutely love Dyson V8 Origin Vacuum makes cleaning a breeze & life a little easier. Once your done vacuuming you can attach to wall attachment that comes with the vacuum for charging station & out of way. A little bit different type of vacuum than what I've been used to. Design and colors are very sleek and eye-catching Pretty much a hand vacuum with a wand floor attachment. Seems like the transition to using as a portable vacuum–like when cleaning upholstery or a car, for example–is easy. Used just once so far. First run through the house filled the canister to the max. Perhaps the only disadvantage I've found was you might have to empty the canister more often that the traditional floor vacuum. Otherwise, carpets now look good and feel great.Treg

I’m not sure why people rave about dyson. My parents have the dyson ball and it clogs a lot (my dad had a German shepherd). Theirs is also heavy which is tiring. So I should have known I wouldn’t like the cordless. It’s basically a glorified sweeper. I hope no one has this as their main vacuum because it’s not strong enough to be your main vacuum especially with a bunch of carpet. We have mostly rugs and hardwood floors. Sometimes it picks up cat litter, other times it might fling it backwards. It NEVER. Vacuums cat food or kids cereal or big crumbs on hardwood because the bottom opening is so small which is IRRITATING. It just drags the larger stuff all around the place. Like what’s the point? It also doesn’t have a light in the front so when I use my corded shark navigator I see the dust and cat hair I miss with my dyson. I want to try the bissel cordless since it has a light but I have a feeling it’s probably just as annoying, but with a helpful light. Overall, I like my over priced sweeper, not extremely happy and not sure what the hype around dyson is. They’re not great at all. Save your money and try a different brand or better yet, just buy a corded vacuum unless you just want a super expensive sweeper then this ones for you!Powers

Love it! I've always wanted a Dyson but the price was intimidating to me. I HATE cords. I live in a smaller space and it takes me longer to get my vacuum out and deal with the cord, then it does for me to actually vacuum. So I love that this is cordless. I read a ton of customer reviews beforehand and it seems like the V7 and the V8 get the most praise from customers, so I knew I wanted one of those two models. I read about the battery life and I read the manual and then I went to Dyson's website itself and read everything they had to say about battery life, tips and tricks etc… and it seems like heat is the enemy with these batteries. It says not to charge it immediately after you finish vacuuming, let it cool down first… things like that. So I think I know how to make it last as long as possible. I used it just a few minutes ago. LOVED it! No cord, it's magnificent. I started in the living room, then I went into my daughter's room and then my room and then I went into the kitchen and it handled cat litter like a boss! I love that I don't have to touch the dirt, it just falls right out of the canister into the trash. My corded vacuum, the bottom opens on the canister but it doesn't come out, I have to reach in and pull it out and then go right to the sink and wash my hands. Gross. So I love that this Dyson is the opposite of all the annoyances my corded vacuum has. Plus it's on sale right now and I saved 80 bucks. It's a dream and I hope it lasts me a long long time to come. I do, however, have to concur with the customer review I read that mentioned hand cramping. I got that. By the time I was finishing up, my hand was hurting/cramping enough that I had to switch to my other hand. Let's start off by saying this is the best vacuum I've ever had. The suction power is amazing, and I am still surprised by how much dirt, dust, and hair it manages to suck up with each use. Having a cat that sheds a lot, this vacuum has been an incredible tool to have in the home. The ability to wall-mount this vacuum for recharging, and its light weight, make for convenient use, storage, and charging. This is also the perfect vacuum for stairs; the floor attachment can be used as a stick-vac or as a hand-vac with ease. Emptying the vacuum canister is super easy as well. Additionally, the floor vacuum attachment makes it easy to remove the roller to allow for clearing any longer hair or objects that end up wrapping themselves around the roller. A few small frustrations and limitations: The swivel elbow on the floor attachment clogs up frequently due to pet hair and longer female human hair. The battery life is a little shorter than I'd like. You can stretch battery life by not using the MAX function, but realistically, who isn't going to use the MAX function when it is available and does the best job cleaning? If you’ve never used a battery powered stick vacuum, you’re working too hard. The Dyson V7 Advanced Origin vacuum Is one of the lightest vacuums I have used. Easy to maneuver around furniture and items with a flick of the wrist and with its thin beater bar, it fits under furniture with ease. The battery provides about 30 minutes of vacuuming. At first, I thought this may not be enough considering how much time I used to spend vacuuming. But it turns out once you eliminate the time spent plugging and unplugging the vacuum, minding the cord so it doesn’t get stuck or knock something over, or moving things to vacuum around or under them, I found I could vacuum the house much faster than I ever could before with much less effort. Not that I have much battery left, it’s just about all used up. I do feel a bit of “Range Anxiety” having just one fixed battery and do rush more. A replaceable battery pack as used on cordless drills and other tools would be a welcome addition. This Dyson comes with a combination tool, the wand/pipe, and a de-tangling motor bar cleaner head. with hair removal vanes that clear long hair and pet hair from the brush bar. The motor bar cleaner head seems to work, no hair or strings got wrapped around the beater brush. Be aware that this model comes with just what is listed in the product description, the combination tool attachment. There is no crevice or other attachments which used to be standard. Nor is there a wall mounted charging dock. If you know you will need the attachments, you should look at other Dyson models that include them or purchase them separately. Not a problem for me replacing a well-used Dyson vacuum that came with the attachments which are all still in excellent condition. Not including the attachments keeps the older ones that are in good shape from going into the landfill and should help keep the price down. This seems to align with the packaging which was all fully recyclable cardboard. No foam, plastic or other environmentally bad packing material was used. Replace the wand with the combination tool and you have a very powerful hand-held vacuum to clean furniture, drapes, the car, or whatever you need one for. The normal/low power setting seems perfectly adequate for hard wood floors and low pile carpet. The High-power mode adds a very noticeable increase in vacuum power and noise. Nice to have when you need it, but I found I rarely did. The Dyson is a well-made vacuum. Very nimble and powerful. Everything fits and functions exceptionally well, which is what I have come to expect of the brand.MrBill250

Up to now we have been very happy with our v10 – great performance and useability. But after 18 months two niggly problems have surfaced as a result of the failure of small plastic pieces that are not sold as replacement parts – you have to replace the whole assembly. 1. The red plastic button that attaches the wand to the body has broken and falls off. 2. The red plastic clip that is supposed to stop the bin sliding off the body has worn away, so that the bin comes off every time you just want to empty it. Both are small plastic pieces that are clearly separate to the main components and should be replaceable – but they are not. I was quoted £121 to replace the wand and the body – that is both extortionate pricing and a total waste of the other parts that are duplicated when you buy the spares. Dyson should do better to support customers and the environment. I will also say that we have a still working V6 (nothing gone wrong) and an old DC04 which has had many parts replaced over its' long life, but it still runs fine and was cheap/easy to fix. I guess that says that they are not built like they used to be. Oh and one more thing – the flexible hose for the V10 also fell apart after a year!Disappointed

I have always been huge Dyson fan as I find their products work well and stand the test of time. This cordless vac reminds me of the one I originally purchased nearly 10 years ago. It is nimble and very well balanced. On a fully charged battery, I have been able to spot clean multiple rooms, multiple times (hard floors with a few small rugs). I have used other cordless vacuums and find them to be unevenly weighted compared to the Dyson. The body of this is somewhat heavy for its sized, but the grip, and overall design are very ergonomic and I feel it conforms to the movement of my hand and wrist seamlessly. This makes the weight less of a concern, which is a factor for me as it determines whether I can effectively use a product or not. I personally wish that the on/off was a switch rather than a sqeeze trigger and that the option for max power was a push button thumb trigger rather than sliding switch on top of the body. Also of note, this model does not include any kind of wall mount kit for storage/charging, where my previous model did. I do find the model to be a bit noisy especially on MAX mode, but it is not intolerable. The beater bar does great job picking up hair without tangling.ArmadaJim

My parents own the Animal+ and I recently bought the Absolute+ which both have the same motorhead so was already aware of the capabilities. I did have a faulty battery upon receiving my vacuum which was quickly resolved & a new battery was sent my way immediately. I think this is really a great one for carpet & hardwood floors (with the hard & soft brushes) and also nice for the sofa in the handheld smaller configuration.Akash

I am delighted with my cordless Animal V8 Vac it is just what I was looking for, light and easy to use, and no cord to trip over, with a powerful suction, and always ready to go. At 80 + I was finding my old friend, A Slim all-floors upright vac over ten years old and still going strong rather too much for me, I was thinking of having someone in to clean for me. Now I have no need to, and my new Animal V8 will soon pay for itself. My daughter is very pleased to adopt my old Slim All-Floors vac as it had many more years of service to give. After 15 years my old Dyson with a cord had a wheel on ghecgeadcrepeatedkybfallinv off. Parts could not be gotten as the model wascsk old so I purchased the V8 Dyson and am I glad. I bought this to replace a V6 that failed after so many years use. The V7 feels stronger. Maybe because of use, the V6 was slack where parts clicked together. Not the V7. Wider brush head, longer battery runtime are improvements. I had to sand a wall back to the primary surface early in the year. I thought I had thoroughly cleaned up afterwards, even used a carpet cleaner. The V7 extracts resieedual dust from the carpet every time I use it. Not a lot, but plainly it is deep cleaning on the base setting. Filter system seems much improved and may have something to do with it. The bin emptying system works well and so much better than the V6 mechanism.prosserd

Wanted to try this type of cleaner as perhaps a replacement for my "elderly" GTech which still works very efficiently by the way. Was very impressed with the TSV presentation & only had a day to wait before it's delivery. It was very easy to put together & after charging off I went. Yes it vacuumed well, but it wasn't a WOW & battery life was not very long, even on normal setting. Also if you stopped whilst vacuuming the cleaner will not stand on it's own & has to be propped up on something which is a bind. The new tool to stop you bending down so much made the cleaner far too long for me and made my shoulder ache & although the vacuum did pick up pet hair, it chased stray bits of cat litter around the kitchen floor. All in all too many negatives for me. Once again I can only thank QVC for the chance to try this item & then return it with ease & my refund has already been processed with the usual efficiency. This is a fabulous wee vacuum cleaner, I hardly ever bring out my big vacuum cleaner since buying this a year ago when previously on offer. These vacuum cleaners unlike others last for ever, I had the V6 but acquired a dog and so updated to this one. I have given the V6 to my son and it's still working like new. I have a very thick carpet in my bedroom and to use my big vacuum cleaner was a nightmare, like doing a workout but since getting this using it on the lower setting I can do it in a jiffy. I have used every tool but the best is the one for the stairs. I would like to have gotten another one but sadly it can no longer be shipped to Northern Ireland. I can highly recommend it, don't delay buy it while on offer.CountryChick01

I am so upset and disappointed with the DC50. I had no idea such a well known and well respected firm such as Dyson could produce a vacuum that won't move on carpet. My parents have had Dysons since they came out and always loved them. I saw this one and though ideal size for my house, lightweight, brilliant. Stupidly impulse bought before looking up reviews online. Now I see its a common problem. Our carpet is medium pile, yet the vacuum initially is hard to push and I mean really hard, then the rotating brush just stops working which makes it practically impossible to push. I press the button to get the rotating brush going again, one push and it stops. Its not a fault with the machine because a lot of other people complain about this issue. I just can't believe theres a vacuum on the market that won't work on carpet. I now feel stuck with a very expensive mistake. One plus though, I cannot fault the suction (probably why its so hard to push) but the tiny bit of the living room I managed to do before slumping and crying because I wasted so much money, it sucked up loads of bits and dog hair that our old vacuum had completely missed.lynsmith

Although, it pains me somewhat to write a review on a vacuum cleaner, the Dyson range is clearly noteworthy…. and then some! I have been a proponent of the Dyson range for over 20 years; I continue to be a ardent supporter and the Dyson Small Ball Multi Floor vacuum is no exception. I have, today, retired a long-serving (7 years) DC12 – with full honours! It served us extremely well (until yesterday, when it sadly gave up the ghost). Although I was completely satisfied with the retiree's performance; but, we had not appreciated how tired it had become. A 4-bed house, 2 teenagers, 2 dogs and recent new carpets. The "new kid on the block" has hit the carpets running. We had new carpets a year ago and today's first outing for the Small Ball has been first class; visibly discernible results. Outstanding suction, reduced noise and effortless to manoeuvre around the house. Thank you to the Dyson team for delivering another absolutely first class cleaning product! Having used this vacuum over the Christmas and New Year break when all the family and their dogs descend onto us, in excess of 5 Labradors, I can truly give the Dyson Small Ball 5 stars. On a daily basis it copes with the fallout of my 3 dogs and messy husband and although the dust bin is small and fills quickly I can only assume this is because it is so efficient, my carpets and rugs look way cleaner and it adjusts from hard to soft surfaces with ease. The compact and neat design of this machine has many advantages, the first being storage, I like my cleaner to be available but not in the way, this little beauty can be popped into a cupboard or even tucked away behind a sofa or armchair! (my little trick) With the retractable handle it folds down into a small unit and in a small house would be an ideal choice. The cleaning properties of the Small Ball are improved by the smaller brush head, it gets into little spaces easily and the wand features are amazing, the vacuum is well balanced and does not fall over when you are catching cobwebs, so much better with the tools on-board, nothing gets lost. With regard to the small dust bin, I found this a positive feature as you have to empty it on a regular basis thus avoiding the musty smells that can arise when the dirt is left in the bin to fester for a couple of weeks! You need to take the bin apart to empty it thoroughly if like me you have animals, as the hair shoots up the canister and can wedge in the top, but it's easy to do as long as you are not heavy handed. The Small Ball is an all round great machine, it easily copes with a large, messy house and I can highly recommend it.Mamabaz

This vacuum is the worst vacuum I have ever used. I had the Dyson upright and loved it, but when it was time to replace it we decided to try the canister, because we believed it would be more convenient. For starters, this vacuum does not have a power head, it is a suction head and so if the vacuum loses the slightest amount of suction the brush does not rotate. The hole which connects the floor attachment to the hose is slightly smaller than a marble so it constantly clogs. I have spent more time unclogging this vacuum than any other vacuum I've owned. This vacuum does not clean – it is a very expensive floor duster. We have cats so from time-to-time I will find small pieces of cat kibble on the floor – the vacuum does not pick it up. The list of things this vacuum does not pick up is seemingly endless, but here are a few examples: coffee grounds individual staples crushed egg shells, lint, small pieces of dried leaves in the fall small pieces of paper fine needles from artificial Christmas trees and garland bits of thread bits of wool dried flower petals tiny bits of mud from shoes I've tried vacuuming the cars with this vacuum, but it does not have the suction to pick up the tiny little pieces of lint that collect on the upholstery and floors. Basically, anything larger than sand or dust, this vacuum does not pick up. If you place the vacuum head right over the small item you are trying to vacuum up sometimes you will get lucky and it will pick it up, but if you vacuum up anything larger than a couple of pieces of cat food – the connection between the vacuum head and the hose gets clogged. I have had this vacuum since August 2018 and dread using it every time. I have unclogged it so many time the tip where you insert the screw driver to release the brush from the head is starting to wear. Last night I had enough of this over-priced, novelty item – I was decorating the house for Christmas and had remnants of artificial pine needles all over the floor – the vacuum clogged five times where the vacuum head attaches to the hose and twice where the hose attaches to the canister. After nearly 40 minutes of vacuuming and unclogging the vacuum, I finally dug our old $149 Canadian Tire Shark vacuum out of the storage room and had the floor clean in less than five minutes with no clogs. A $650 vacuum should at the very least be able to compete with a Canadian Tire $149 special. After the nightmare and waste of time I had last night trying to vacuum my living room – I finally had enough with this vacuum and I am dropping it off at the electronic recyclers. This was without a doubt the worst purchase I have ever made. I kept it for two years, because of the cost of it and I didn't want to throw away $650, but I literally cannot deal with this vacuum any longer. I really liked the Dyson upright – it was a bit heavy and cumbersome to use and it was very awkward to vacuum stairs, but it picked up everything I needed it to and it very, very rarely clogged. There is absolutely no comparison between the canister and the upright! I have called customer service and did all the trouble shooting tips, I washed the filter and then bought a replacement filter when that failed. If you have to vacuum more than dust from your floors – do not buy this vacuum. If you are insistent on purchasing a Dyson vacuum – go with the upright!NatalieF

This vacuum makes other vacuumes seem like garbage created in back alleys by neanderthals that started a vacuum business, like they're lies an imitation of vacuum technology. Stop wasting your money on hundred and something dollar vacuums every year or two and hating them the whole time as they don't really clean your floor cuz their suction never really sucked and you sit on the floor and unclog them all the time. Just buy this vacuum! they have a 14 day full refund return policy if you don't feel it is superior enough to be worth its price tag believe me it is. Check on price match. if it's not on sale haven't seen it for more than $100 off. Might think it's crazy to spend so much but it's that much better the other ones are crap made by tricky robbers. Sure it is an investment but you will be so blown away by the quality of how well it works I bet you won't return it and you'll see it as an investment because you know how the other ones just break so might as well invest and have it last for 5 years and enjoy your vacuuming experience. Easy to use everything's in its place simple powerful puts other vacuums to shame it should be illegal to sell the other vacuums it's literally like stealing your money whenever you compare it to this vacuum. a vacuum is an investment that should work well that helps keep your family healthy and safe it shouldn't break every couple years like the last few uprights I bought I also feel like the fact this is a canister vacuum is just a much better design as well but I think any Dyson is going to just bring it as far as vacuuming goes the other vacuums literally do not seem like Vacuums in comparison I can't stress that enough. It looks like it's kind of big in the picture but it's not it's nice and Compact but has a big enough canister and it's got handles where it should and slots for everything and all the attachments you would need without going overboard secure don't fall off when you're not using them which has happened with the attachments on other vacuums quite annoying. I mean you will want to vacuum more if you have this vacuum you will want to clean your floor completely just to see it like clean stuff it is fun too use! It is bafflingly silent it is the quietest vacuum on the planet you could probably vacuum with this vacuum in the same room with a sleeping person and the person would not wake up. Almost forgot whenever you vacuum and you maybe vacuumed up something that might be a little larger such as a penny let's say and you know how you usually hear the penny kind of Slam around the corner is it goes in this literally doesn't Slam at all it just gets vacuumed in it doesn't sound like it's getting hit at all or damaging your vacuum in anyway which is very comforting the vacuum is doing its job not asking you to pre clean smaller items before you vacuum.Zeldarocks

I’ve had mine for three years and I love it as much as when I first got it. I have to say this works best for hardwoods or other hard flooring. I got one for my mom and her housekeeper said it hurt jar back but she used it for carpets. I wouldn’t recommend it for that. If they advertised it for wood floors I think it would have a rating of 5 stars. I have all hard flooring and it is fantastic. It basically dusts the floor with the rotary tool. It just glides behind me with little or no effort. It has so much reach. It cleans everywhere, cracks, corners, underneath the bed, ceiling fans. I can vacuum the house in no time. To me it is so much better than the stick vacs. You don’t have to hold the weight and you can do the entire house and never loose power. I would definitely recommend this for hard floors!!!LisaSt

Pros: It was noticeable how the rotating brushes really groomed the carpet pile with good suction & is driven by its own motor within the head. The additional accessory; small longer rotating brush used on the stairs without the long poll made a great job of the stairs. Cons: We have just purchased this v8 to replace a v6 animalBoth vacs connections seem not to join rigidly with a bit of play which will eventually put extra stress & would benefit from some kind of rubber grommet between the connecting long poll to tighten both the head & main casing. Also the replacement batteries seem expensive. The charger wire insulation is too stiff & made of some kind of vinyl/inflexible plastic which seems inflexible & eventually splits & uncovers the very thin wires next to the 3 prong plug body, which can then pull away.We have had 5 batteries with the older model & note this new one is the same. They all become split eventually. Needs to be a rubberised material instead.Ian

I got a V7 in Jan 2019. Initially, and for about 1.5 yrs., I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then my housecleaner told me a charge didn't last more than 10 mins. Because I have another plug-in vacuum, I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I hired another cleaner. She brought her own vacuum so it hasn't been used at all since Jan 2022. Just in the last week, I tried to use it and it only lasted about 30 seconds. I had a very good experience with the website and service person on the phone but I have been advised that a new battery is necessary. If that is correct, I must say that I am disappointed in Dyson. I expected better performance from their machine. For a machine that is 3 1/2 yrs. old and only used perhaps 2 years of that (and not solely because I have another machine), I think the battery should last longer. And, if the cost of the battery is 1/4 of the price of the machine, I think that is even more disappointing. And, it's the cost of the battery + shipping. My carpenter husband has battery powered tools, uses them consistently and has never had to replace a battery. That knowledge doesn't help me. Is it possible that the charging station is defective? At any rate, as much as I loved it in the beginning, I'm pretty unhappy at present. I recommended my vacuum to lots of friends at first but now, I would have to tell them the whole story and what to expect.Bren

The Good: The vacuum unit itself is exceptional, with excellent suction, ease of maintenance, run time, and insofar longevity; it competes well with your average full-sized canister vacuums, which is truly impressive given the size of the Dyson. The hype, on this front, is valid. The Bad: However, the well-built central unit is let down by tools and accessories with components made from fragile, heat-molded plastic. Essentially, only the mechanical drive components are made from metal (I think), but everything else is plastic. While Dyson boasts that the main machine body is made from "ABS Polycarbonate" (think: riot shields), the smaller components seem to be made of high-density polyethylene or similar material. Our smaller motorized head unit suffered a breakage in the head-to-guard joint, which should not be the case for a relatively new, seldom used part. The use of brittle plastic in such a high-wear area by the spinning rotor seems at best poor design, at worst planned obsolescence. I understand that full-metal construction is a thing of the past, but "full-plastic" construction is not a viable alternative; some components need to be metal, full stop. The Ugly: Unfortunately, warranty details are misleading as they apparently do not include the tools, and nowhere in the warranty documentation provided was there a distinction between "tools" and the "unit." While I understand that normal wear-and-tear is to be expected and therefore not covered by warranty, I am disappointed with the craftsmanship of a really expensive product that utilizes non-durable heat-molded plastic for high-stress areas, specifically around moving joints. The concern is that having both motorized head units break renders the unit unable to clean carpet or furniture fabric, reducing 90% of its utility, and will cost you ~$200 extra to purchase the new motorized heads. In closing; a great unit overall, but my confidence in the product is let down by the fragility of the core tools and some of the convenient language of the warranty provided. Either warranty everything you produce or make it clear that the warranty only applies to the literal vacuum itself.Marcus_W

I am delighted with my cordless Animal V8 Vac it is just what I was looking for, light and easy to use, and no cord to trip over, with a powerful suction, and always ready to go. At 80 + I was finding my old friend, A Slim all-floors upright vac over ten years old and still going strong rather too much for me, I was thinking of having someone in to clean for me. Now I have no need to, and my new Animal V8 will soon pay for itself. My daughter is very pleased to adopt my old Slim All-Floors vac as it had many more years of service to give. My old Dyson DC16 recently died and I was frantic to find a similar replacement. I was just looking for a cordless handheld to quickly vacuum up small areas or spot clean. I saw this V8 cordless Motorhead looked almost identical to my deceased Dyson and an extra perk was that it had a detachable wand so I wouldn't have to bend down/stretch for those hard to reach places. It was $100 off so I ordered it. Straight out of the box, it was heavy. My arm was instantly tired after trying to use it above my head. Multiple issues: The air powerful air coming out of the exhaust vents blows debris everywhere. My small contained mess was now scattered everywhere! The direct driver power head has a plastic guide on the front. This makes it impossible to suck up anything that is larger than that clearance space. I have a parrot that drops sunflower seed shells and Cheerio cereal on the floor and this Dyson just pushes them in front of the vacuum. No room for them to be picked up because of that guide. Strike 3 for me was emptying the dust container. You have to pull hard upward to lift the head off the vacuum which then triggers the dust container bottom to swing open. This did not work easily or smoothly at all. Basically, I had to use two hands to both pry the top part up while pulling the bottom flap down to empty. If it were just one small flaw, I'd get over it but this isn't an inexpensive vacuum! I am beyond disappointed and now I have to drag it back to the Club for a refund.TMc
