OMG! I didn't think it was possible, but I've fallen in love with a vacuum. Tried cordless before and dissatisfied with suction, battery life, etc. This model came with all the attachments I could possibly use. Suction is fantastic for any vacuum, let alone a cordless. Keeps a charge long enough to vacuum whole house. Works great on all the area rugs, hardwoods and tile floors. Super easy to empty the canister too. Very easy to change attachments for upholstery, curtains, beds, walls, whatever. It can maneuver into almost any space. I have multiple pets and this baby can handle all their messes. I really loved this vacuum until the motor broke after only one year. I guess that’s what happens when you purchase a refurbished item vs a brand new one. The overall vacuum is great. The canister holds a lot before you need to empty it, and it truly lives up to being a “pet vacuum.” I have a husky and it was able to handle all of his fur. Perfect for vacuuming hardwood floors, as well as area rugs and dog beds. Definitely just purchase a brand new one instead of refurbished!Danni

I was looking to purchase a vacuum for my daughter who is moving into her first apartment. I contacted my brother who is what I will call a QVCaholic from kitchen items, appliances, food, outdoor furniture, did I mention kitchen items. He highly recommended not only the brand but I couldn't go wrong with the price and easy pay. It ended up both my brother and I purchased vacuums. He's giving her his vacuum and now I have a brand new vacuum which I absolutely love. I love the way it gets close to the baseboard with the "ball" action of the vacuum as opposed to my upright that I currently have. This vacuum deep cleans so much more than what I currently own. I researched a lot of vacuums before I made a purchase. I was willing to pay for a high quality product as I think its money well spent. I went back and forth between Shark and Dyson. I researched motors and suction as well as performance on hard floors vs carpet. We don't have any carpet in our home. I needed something that picked up the dust and dander after our 3 dogs. It had to be easy to maneuver because of our home size and it had to be easy to empty and store. I didn't want to fight with an appliance daily. I read this has Dyson's strongest suction. I can tell that it is stronger than previous vacuums. It gets everything. It met all of my wants and needs in a vacuum. It is very easy to use and moves quickly from room to room. It's easy to switch between floor and tools and to switch out tool heads as well. I like vacuuming with this because I can see the difference and my cleaning goes very quickly. I'd give it 6 starts if I could. QVC had the best price on this item. I'm glad they carried it and I'm glad that I invested.Fawndear

We’ve had a dyson for 10 years the old style all floors the classic yellow and grey. All it ever needed was filters and it was built to last. Love dyson products. After retiring the old one and upgraded to our new one nothing has changed. The ball technology is super convient. When we got it in it was like we got a new member of the family me my wife and the kids all put it together, and marveled over its beauty. Seriously the thing is a beautiful household appliance lol. The kids wanted to use the attachments so my daughter did the top of the ceiling fan mind you she’s 8. And my son did underneath the couch. That’s how easy and user friendly this thing is. And it is extremely powerful. It’s like they took our old dc7 dyson shrunk it down and gave it a face lift. It’s my wife’s favorite thing to do now. Heck I even enjoy using it. I could go on and on about this vacuum but I’ll just finish. And say best vacuum in the world for a middle class working family can’t beat the price.The tauriello family

This is to replace my first upright vacuum (a Dyson). I just never got used to it having decades of canister vacuum experience. The upright had good power and did floors very nicely but I had issues with the pull out extension. I considered other bagless vacuums but because I like the Dyson upright performance I opted to get this new CY18 canister and it is impressive. It has lots of suction and is one of the quietest vacuums I have owned. I can use the tools directly attached to the flexible hose handle which is what I wanted and it follows like a well mannered dog on a leash unlike my last canister was just the opposite and fought me every inch of the way. I vacuumed the whole house as soon as I got it and it's always surprising how much fine dirt these things pick up.g_ldboise

First, I should say that I am the mother of four fur babies, 2 cats and 2 big dogs. Then, when my boyfriend stays over on the weekends, he adds his 2 more dogs (one big and one small) to the mix. Between the 6 animals and my long hair, you can imagine how much hair is on my floors at any given time. For my entire life, growing up at home and after I moved out, I have always used a shop vac with a pool hose and a long metal pole with a brush head; which my dad created. We always hated the awkwardness of upright vacuums and the spinning heads just never worked on hard floors. After buying shop vacs every few years, because they are cheap and the motor blows, I decided to try the Dyson Cinetic Animal Canister. Thankfully, Dyson was offering $100 off; then with my BB&B coupon and cashback credit card bonuses, I ended up getting this thing for the same price as a normal vacuum costs. After one use, I completely fell in love with this machine! There are some flaws, but the good outweighs the bad in my book. Here are a list of pros and cons that I have encountered while using this machine over the past few months. Pros: • Whole-machine HEPA filtration and Certified asthma & allergy friendly! Woo no smells from the expelled air! My boyfriend really appreciates this aspect! He has horrible allergies, especially because of the cats. After purchasing this vacuum, he can breathe so much better at my house! • No filters to wash or buy! • Holy suction Batman! This thing is crazy powerful. • Suction release trigger for when it eats something it shouldn’t, like curtains. • Tangle free turbine tool worked so well that my boyfriend wanted to vacuum the cats with it! Don’t worry, I didn’t let him. This think works wonders on the carpeted cat-stle (what I call the cat castle or cat tree). • Long wand for hard to reach places. • Everything detaches so easily and the tools fit anywhere on the hose or wand. This makes it so simple to go from top to bottom, vacuuming everything in the room. I can do the ceilings, vents, fans, curtains, windows, base boards and floors! • 21.3 ft power cord and automatic rewind…amazing. • Light weight (because you are only having to lift the wand and attachments, not the entire machine. • Can get under furniture and those hard to reach places…like the ceiling! Good luck trying to get your upright vacuum on the ceiling….or the fans. • I don’t have carpet, and I don’t know who in their right mind would have carpet with animals, but the vacuum worked just fine on my low pile rugs. • Some people say that this thing is awkward to pull around because it is a canister. While that is probably true for someone who typically uses an upright, it is way better than the shop vacs that I have had. I don’t find this thing awkward at all, but I am use to pulling behind a canister. Cons: • Canister waaaaaay to small. To give you an idea, I vacuumed my 1400sq ft home, with one weeks worth of hair and needed to empty the bin 5 times. I wish it was bigger and held more. To combat this, I take my big janitor mop (the ones they use in schools), push it around the house for literally a minute. Then I vacuum. This allows me to pick up the hair and big debris (because my dogs have these big plastic bones that they chew) all at once so that I only have to empty the vacuum once. My boyfriend thinks that a vacuum that is so expensive should require no prep work, but I honestly did this with my shop vac too. It makes vacuuming so much easier and quicker. • Emptying the bin is not as simple as they make you believe. Yes, you push the button, but the door swings down and hangs in the way. The dirt gets all over the hanging door. Then you have to use the provided tool to unstick the hair from the sides of the canister, while the door flaps in your way. The instructions say to minimize dust/allergen contact, encase the bin tightly in a plastic bag. Well this doesn’t work because the above happens. I found the easiest way to empty the bin is to go outside to my large garbage can. • The combination tool is a horrible design. Instead of being two pieces, the small brush slides up and down on the thin wand. I wish the small brush was detachable, because when I use the thin wand to get in cracks (like between the couch cushions), the brush is in the way and the bristles get destroyed. • The wheels on the bottom of the canister roll ok, but for the ridiculous price of the machine, they suck. They should have used the same material as you would find on rollerblade wheels. • Instead of being power controlled, the rotating head rotates due to the suction. I wish there was a way to lock the head in place so that it does not rotate. It sucks up cat litter with no problem, but sometimes, it flings a few pieces out. I typically just detach the head and just use the suction. I think I might buy the alternate head that doesn’t spin. • I found the attachment storage to be random and awkward. Ok I broke down and purchased a Dyson after reading many positive reviews but to be honest this vacuum has not won me over in the last 9 months. The suction is adequate but I am not impressed with the turbo brush on carpets. I have hardwood floors with area rugs in most rooms and the articulating hard floor tool is excellent and mandatory for cleaning in my estimation. The cord is a good length and the tools are well designed and work well. I have to empty the bin once or twice while cleaning 1400 sq. foot home. I have come to dislike emptying the bin. The dirt and dust seems to cling to the bin like there is an electrostatic charge on the plastic and I have to use a paintbrush to get it moderately clean or wash it the sink to get it really clean. After a lifetime of using a bagged vacuum where you just change a bag I fear this bag-less vacuum is just not my cup of tea. I only wished I brought this back in the return timeframe and selected another brand/machine!Telrandy

My parents own the Animal+ and I recently bought the Absolute+ which both have the same motorhead so was already aware of the capabilities. I did have a faulty battery upon receiving my vacuum which was quickly resolved & a new battery was sent my way immediately. I think this is really a great one for carpet & hardwood floors (with the hard & soft brushes) and also nice for the sofa in the handheld smaller configuration.Akash

I am delighted with my cordless Animal V8 Vac it is just what I was looking for, light and easy to use, and no cord to trip over, with a powerful suction, and always ready to go. At 80 + I was finding my old friend, A Slim all-floors upright vac over ten years old and still going strong rather too much for me, I was thinking of having someone in to clean for me. Now I have no need to, and my new Animal V8 will soon pay for itself. My daughter is very pleased to adopt my old Slim All-Floors vac as it had many more years of service to give. After 15 years my old Dyson with a cord had a wheel on ghecgeadcrepeatedkybfallinv off. Parts could not be gotten as the model wascsk old so I purchased the V8 Dyson and am I glad. After Many years of using Dyson Cylinder vacuum cleaners and our current one being a Animal model which we love, I was curious what the Dyson v6 Absolute could offer us as a busy family. I had some reservations after using other brands of Cordless vacuum cleaners that just didn't live up to what they said on the box and always ended up shoved to the back of the cupboard never to be seen again. As soon as the Dyson v6 arrived and we opened it we knew we was going to have fun putting it to the test, and after unpacking the v6 and all of the tool attachments and reading the easy to follow instructions it , we found their was some power already in the battery to give it a quick test, and test it we did as our 10 year old daughter spilled her small tub of sequins she was using in her art project all over the laminate flooring in the dining room, now normally I would grab the dustpan and brush for a fiddly sweep up, but we grabbed the v6 ,easily attached the hard floor tool changed the setting to normal power mode and with ease and quickly the tiny sequins was vacuumed up, and no tears of our 10 year old daughter running away from the noise of a vacuum, she wears two hearing aids and the noise from a vacuum cleaner normally causes her distress and having to leave the room or take her hearing aids out, the V6 absolute had a noise level she could happily cope with, she even had a go at vacuuming for the first time ever, and went onto to vacuum the whole of the dining room, the hard floor tool worked better then the one on my vacuum cleaner, we wasn't chasing large bits around to catch them in the floor tool, they vacuumed up with ease. It was time to put the v6 on a full charge using the Docking station that needs to be attached to a wall, you don't get a fixing kit with it, but that wasn't a problem for us, and you can still charge the v6 up with the docking station until you have time to secure the docking station to the wall that's close to a plug socket, I like the docking station, its slim line and it also doubles as storage for the v6 absolute along with some of the tools, so everything can be kept secure of the floor. For a full charge from new it took approx. 3 hours to fully charge, the light is bright enough to see from a distance, so you know once its fully charged. once fully charged we got approx. 20 minutes vacuuming time with the v6 on the normal power setting which we found was more then enough time for us . we found the v6 so light to carry and use which really helped us as I have a joint condition like my son, and we struggle with our wrists and thumbs when vacuuming stairs etc. after vacuuming our stairs carpet I had no pain, the cordless v6 was easy to hold and put no strain on my wrist at all, even though you have to hold the power button in when using it, this wasn't a problem as where the button is your thumb or finger naturally sits on top of the button and is easy to hold in, no effort I found at all. We use the small power head on the stairs carpet and was pleasantly surprised as to how much ground in fine dirt it fetched up out of the carpet, the suction was very powerful for a cordless and it fetched the pile up on the stairs carpet nicely, made vacuuming the stairs very easy, I no longer had to worry about a cable trailing or balancing a cylinder cleaner on each step, so made vacuuming the stairs so much more quicker, in the time it normally takes me to vacuum the stairs with my normal vacuum cleaner, with the v6 I had the stairs, landing and two bedrooms vacuumed with ease and only having to empty the clear bin once. emptying the compact bin on the v6 I found fiddly at first go, but after a little practise it was then easy to empty. The next day after a trip to the park and the car needed a vacuum after fetching most of the parks freshly cut grass and sand back with us ,we thought the v6 absolute may struggle with this task, how wrong we was, no longer do we have to struggle with extension cables trailing over the driveway. just grabbed the v6 and the crevice tool and brush tool and small power head and started to vacuum the car, we have the annoying fluffy easy to pluck carpet in our car that seems to attract tiny hairs of the dog etc., the v6 cleaned up with no problems, the seats came up nice and clean and the carpets looked good and clean, the crevice tool came in handy for the hard to reach areas and the little brush tool was ideal for vacuuming the air vents and door caddy's etc. the v6 passed its test with flying colours. My 13 year old son as even taken to vacuuming his bedroom and helping vacuum the house with this' neat piece of technology' ,his words, he also finds it light and easy to use,. my 19 year old is a site joiner so often comes home and leaves a trail of sawdust through the house, he finds it so convenient to just grab the v6 to quickly tidy up his mess before mum moans. Having been using a Hetty vac for years & finding myself cursing it a lot! I decided to take the plunge & invest in the Dyson v6… I find it's nicely made, the fittings lock in so don't flop off all the time. sucks really well, I've not found the need for the extra suck button! one thing people don't tend to mention in reviews is that it sounds good! A kind of undulating warble while cleaning with the full length arm… and a nice sounding motor on start up & when letting go of the trigger well I appreciate it anyway! I now look forward to using it lots! I can't see the novelty wearing off as I'm just like that. Interestingly I found i used it differently to an old fashioned cylinder vac – meaning, I only switch it on while in position for cleaning… as it's in a trigger, you save energy while 're positioning yourself as opposed to having it running the whole time. emptying is easy as the lid kind of drops out forcefully & most of the dust just falls out. I find it satisfying to see what's been collected – what night look like a clean floor, you'll be amazed how much it still sucks up! I'm looking at getting extra fittings though as I prefer the Hetty style round brush as I do a lot of dusting with it over music gear & nick nacks. I really wish it would indicate how much battery is left, though it's ok simply paying attention to the time and getting to know how long the battery lasts. weirdly because the way it's designed I find cleaning is way quicker with this machine, which is really good… it only takes me under ten minutes to whiz around downstairs in my house… on stairs it's a dream, in fact it's a dream everywhere in the house… my biggest gripe would be how long the battery lasts! I mean, it's easy to work around it lasting 20 mins or so…. but having used cordless power tools at work, I'm wondering why they don't use a bigger capacity battery like the 5ah batteries on the newer Makita tools??? But at least with a smaller battery it is lighter to use. Man! I love this thing! Whilst I am not in the habit of reviewing products I feel so strongly about this product that I thought it would be worthwhile setting virtual pen to paper in this instance. This product is well worth buying, and while it has a couple of shortcomings, overall I'm very happy with it. It functions brilliantly as a handheld for spot clean-ups and for cleaning the stairs with the powered carpet cleaning head it is the best I have used. Normal use standing upright utilising the included aluminium tube extension is also excellent with any of the supplied attachments, and it is comfortable to use for cleaning away cobwebs at ceiling level, and dust around the picture rails in our home which has 8ft ceilings. I have personally used this for 15mins every other day for a few weeks now and the novelty has not worn off, my wife is delighted with that, and even uses it herself every now and then. The novelty is that it's even better than our previous dyson cleaners. I put this down in part to the powered head attachments which really lift the dirt, and the pet hair well, and also the power of the motor. Another novelty is being able to vacuum without the need for ear defenders, and not scaring the two cats that live with us with the usual noise of standard cleaners. The cats will just sit nearby and watch now rather than run and hide as before. Now to the few minor points alluded to before. The first critisism is that I would have liked attachment points on the base station for all five of the supplied attachments in the 'Absolute' package. I concede this may have been untidy looking, in practice however I plan to house mine in a cupboard. The second point I would like to highlight is that there is a small amount of play in the union of the tube to the body of the cleaner. When in use the flexation of front part of the cleaner is likely to cause some wear in the plastic at some point. Time will tell. At the moment this is the only negative point to the design, and it is a great pruduct overall. The only good feature of this vacuum is the suction. Also, you do get a great work out using it as it is very heavy. I stupidly bought many of the over-priced attachments, some of which don't even fit, only to find that using them is so cumbersome that I often choose not to. If you want to switch back and forth between attachments and vacuum, you have to hold the attachment hose/wand and the cord in one hand, and the vacuum in the other. There should be some kind of latch to hold the hose when switching, but there isn't. Speaking of the hose, you don't want to get your fingers caught after stretching it because it really hurts. You have to be extra careful to get the vacuum to to click in the upright position, often needing several attempts, or risk dinging your walls when it falls. For the price of the vacuum, Dyson should definitely have a retractable cord. Using the attachment hose requires removing the hook that holds the cord, so it will be completely unrolled (even if you only need a few feet), leaving you with a 20' cord that can and does easily end up tripping you. Did I mention how intensely dislike my Dyson?Jessie

This vacuum has great suction, but if you're expecting your vacuum to last more than 2 to 3 years then don't buy this because it is made from cheap plastics. I've had this vacuum for just over 2 1/2 years and thought it was really great. I use it for about 2 hours per week, so less than 300 hours of total use time. Just noticed this week the whole lower duct assembly has cracked rendering the vacuum completely unusable. This cracking has occurred due to the step in the owner's manual showing you have to bend the vacuum forward in order to get it to lock into the upright position. This forward bending motion puts a lot of stress on the cheaply made plastic connection near the ball. I don't care if Dyson said it is made from the same material in riot gear, and tested for 50,000 hours. It's a poorly designed part subjected to a lot of stress when attempting to lock the vacuum in the upright position. I have contacted Dyson and they are sending me a part to fix the vacuum, but if it's the same cheap junk, I can see it breaking again in another 2 to 3 years. I expect a vacuum cleaner to last a lot longer than 2 years, given the price paid for a Dyson. Dyson really needs to step up and make these parts that are subjected to stresses much more robust. Even when new the handle part of the vacuum seems rather flimsy. I will not be recommending to anyone to purchase a Dyson. Save your money and look elsewhere.StevenTN

I have been a lifelong user of Dyson vacuums from the very earliest days. I have always thought that they are the best. Sad to say that after 2 years of use I cannot say that about the Animal 2. Just for the record we also have the Dyson V6 Animal which my wife uses because of her Rheumatoid Arthritis. Once a week I will do the heavy duty, top to bottom house clean with the Animal 2. And I don't look forward to it at all. First of all the positives: 1. Fantastic suction 2. I use all of the heads that can be attached to the hose and are excellent for getting into the difficult spots. The negatives: 1. This is a heavy machine. Now I keep myself fit but you get a workout from this machine. Because it is heavy it is not the most manoeuvrable. Somebody like my wife who has RA can forget about using this for more than a minute or two. 2. When using it with the hose when the accessories are attached, the machine does not follow easily and more often than not tips over. It is shocking for doing that. I wouldn't even contemplate using it for the stairs. 3. The hose may be lighter than previous models but honestly does not feel as robust. But so far it has stood two years worth of use. 4. The power cable is sadly far inferior to previous models. It is of cheaper quality and easily gets entangled around the wheels of the vacuum when using the hose and even when using it without the hose. It may be a longer hose (I think) but it gets tangled so easily. All in all, this is one of the worst Dyson's we have had.Andy

If you’ve never used a battery powered stick vacuum, you’re working too hard. The Dyson V7 Advanced Origin vacuum Is one of the lightest vacuums I have used. Easy to maneuver around furniture and items with a flick of the wrist and with its thin beater bar, it fits under furniture with ease. The battery provides about 30 minutes of vacuuming. At first, I thought this may not be enough considering how much time I used to spend vacuuming. But it turns out once you eliminate the time spent plugging and unplugging the vacuum, minding the cord so it doesn’t get stuck or knock something over, or moving things to vacuum around or under them, I found I could vacuum the house much faster than I ever could before with much less effort. Not that I have much battery left, it’s just about all used up. I do feel a bit of “Range Anxiety” having just one fixed battery and do rush more. A replaceable battery pack as used on cordless drills and other tools would be a welcome addition. This Dyson comes with a combination tool, the wand/pipe, and a de-tangling motor bar cleaner head. with hair removal vanes that clear long hair and pet hair from the brush bar. The motor bar cleaner head seems to work, no hair or strings got wrapped around the beater brush. Be aware that this model comes with just what is listed in the product description, the combination tool attachment. There is no crevice or other attachments which used to be standard. Nor is there a wall mounted charging dock. If you know you will need the attachments, you should look at other Dyson models that include them or purchase them separately. Not a problem for me replacing a well-used Dyson vacuum that came with the attachments which are all still in excellent condition. Not including the attachments keeps the older ones that are in good shape from going into the landfill and should help keep the price down. This seems to align with the packaging which was all fully recyclable cardboard. No foam, plastic or other environmentally bad packing material was used. Replace the wand with the combination tool and you have a very powerful hand-held vacuum to clean furniture, drapes, the car, or whatever you need one for. The normal/low power setting seems perfectly adequate for hard wood floors and low pile carpet. The High-power mode adds a very noticeable increase in vacuum power and noise. Nice to have when you need it, but I found I rarely did. The Dyson is a well-made vacuum. Very nimble and powerful. Everything fits and functions exceptionally well, which is what I have come to expect of the brand.MrBill250

Up to now we have been very happy with our v10 – great performance and useability. But after 18 months two niggly problems have surfaced as a result of the failure of small plastic pieces that are not sold as replacement parts – you have to replace the whole assembly. 1. The red plastic button that attaches the wand to the body has broken and falls off. 2. The red plastic clip that is supposed to stop the bin sliding off the body has worn away, so that the bin comes off every time you just want to empty it. Both are small plastic pieces that are clearly separate to the main components and should be replaceable – but they are not. I was quoted £121 to replace the wand and the body – that is both extortionate pricing and a total waste of the other parts that are duplicated when you buy the spares. Dyson should do better to support customers and the environment. I will also say that we have a still working V6 (nothing gone wrong) and an old DC04 which has had many parts replaced over its' long life, but it still runs fine and was cheap/easy to fix. I guess that says that they are not built like they used to be. Oh and one more thing – the flexible hose for the V10 also fell apart after a year!Disappointed

I have always been huge Dyson fan as I find their products work well and stand the test of time. This cordless vac reminds me of the one I originally purchased nearly 10 years ago. It is nimble and very well balanced. On a fully charged battery, I have been able to spot clean multiple rooms, multiple times (hard floors with a few small rugs). I have used other cordless vacuums and find them to be unevenly weighted compared to the Dyson. The body of this is somewhat heavy for its sized, but the grip, and overall design are very ergonomic and I feel it conforms to the movement of my hand and wrist seamlessly. This makes the weight less of a concern, which is a factor for me as it determines whether I can effectively use a product or not. I personally wish that the on/off was a switch rather than a sqeeze trigger and that the option for max power was a push button thumb trigger rather than sliding switch on top of the body. Also of note, this model does not include any kind of wall mount kit for storage/charging, where my previous model did. I do find the model to be a bit noisy especially on MAX mode, but it is not intolerable. The beater bar does great job picking up hair without tangling.ArmadaJim

I am delighted with my cordless Animal V8 Vac it is just what I was looking for, light and easy to use, and no cord to trip over, with a powerful suction, and always ready to go. At 80 + I was finding my old friend, A Slim all-floors upright vac over ten years old and still going strong rather too much for me, I was thinking of having someone in to clean for me. Now I have no need to, and my new Animal V8 will soon pay for itself. My daughter is very pleased to adopt my old Slim All-Floors vac as it had many more years of service to give. My old Dyson DC16 recently died and I was frantic to find a similar replacement. I was just looking for a cordless handheld to quickly vacuum up small areas or spot clean. I saw this V8 cordless Motorhead looked almost identical to my deceased Dyson and an extra perk was that it had a detachable wand so I wouldn't have to bend down/stretch for those hard to reach places. It was $100 off so I ordered it. Straight out of the box, it was heavy. My arm was instantly tired after trying to use it above my head. Multiple issues: The air powerful air coming out of the exhaust vents blows debris everywhere. My small contained mess was now scattered everywhere! The direct driver power head has a plastic guide on the front. This makes it impossible to suck up anything that is larger than that clearance space. I have a parrot that drops sunflower seed shells and Cheerio cereal on the floor and this Dyson just pushes them in front of the vacuum. No room for them to be picked up because of that guide. Strike 3 for me was emptying the dust container. You have to pull hard upward to lift the head off the vacuum which then triggers the dust container bottom to swing open. This did not work easily or smoothly at all. Basically, I had to use two hands to both pry the top part up while pulling the bottom flap down to empty. If it were just one small flaw, I'd get over it but this isn't an inexpensive vacuum! I am beyond disappointed and now I have to drag it back to the Club for a refund.TMc

This was a nerve racking experience until opening the delivery and finding that it really was a new vacuum that performs better than any other vacuum (including cannisters) I've ever seen. The best part was paying less than half price of a brand new one in the store. I've been told, my entire life, that nothing cleans better than a cannister vacuum. After using Mama's new cannister vacuum to clean her bedroom I used my Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy to run back over her carpeted bedroom. Let me preface this by staying that she had a Golden Retriever for 12 years indoors until he passed away 11 months ago. I also need to note that she vacuums her bedroom daily. My new Dyson sucked up as much fine dirt/dust behind her cannister vacuum as you would expect to find after cleaning a dirty carpet that hadn't been cleaned in a couple weeks. The astonishing revelation was that it not only found dog hair, but how much dog hair it removed from a floor that has been cleaned more than 200 times since the last time her dog was in there. I don't know how long this machine will last, but I can't imagine ever buying anything other than a Dyson. It's that dang good! This may be my first one, but it certainly won't be my last.pendrey01

This is an awesome vacuum cleaner, especially if you have hardwood floors and lots of dogs like I do! I had no clue how much the two long-haired littermate puppies we got could shed since our other dog is short-haired. This vacuum cleaner picks up huge balls of fur like it's nothing. I really worried it would get clogged with fur instantly but it keeps going. The only thing I would say is that the extendable hose vacuum is so tight that you literally have to wrestle with it and the vacuum if you're going to use it. I'm not sure if it gets looser as it gets older but I wish the handheld hose weren't such a wrestling match. If you have a dog, you need this vacuum. I didn't like the price tag but seeing the quality and the fact it will last for so long, it's a good investment.elaine.c

This review represents only a couple of weeks worth of use since purchase. So I would not consider a product based on such review. So far I am pleased with the Dyson Ball vacuum. It was easy to assemble out of the box, and Im very impressed with its suction power. I had previously gone over this carpet MULTIPLE times with a brand new vacuum of other popular brand after putting down a heavy layer of Carpet Fresh powder. The Dyson Ball picked up a significant amount of that powder the other vacuum left behind. My only complaint so far would be that the Dyson Ball is very HEAVY. If you have a big home/space to vacuum, your arms will get a good workout. A small framed person would likely get tired of using this vacuum fairly quickly. A good online price on this outgoing model is the only reason I opted for it. But had I known how heavy it was, I probably would have researched further to find a lighter option.luccia4us

I bought my Dyson V7 Animal+ two weeks ago and am absolutely delighted with it. It replaces a more expensive V6 model and straight away you can tell it has been greatly improved. Three major upgrades; the way it fits together, the way it is emptied and its power. The old machine could on occasions but a it clunky to take apart, the new connector design is vastly improved so, with a gentle click, each section detaches effortlessly from its neighbour and re-attaches equally easily. The way the Dyson is emptied has also been radically redesigned. The old design had dust and debris sticking to the filter rather too easily and as soon as it got clogged it needed to be emptied. With the new one the filter and the clear plastic outer casing are much further apart and so the contents of the reservoir do not get stuck between the two. Additionally a new automatic cleaning mechanism has been added, so the reservoir is effectively swept every time the machine is emptied. Very clever and a great improvement. Finally, even though the Dyson seems to be lighter and certainly quieter it has considerably more suck at the business end, on both the standard and Max settings. This is tremendous and means you can get a lot more cleaning done on a single, longer life, battery charge. With all these improvements I think the new V7 series is a really winner and I can certainly vouch for the V7 Animal + which is a great vacuum cleaner at a brilliant price, I paid £250 although the RRP was £350. By the way, I have no connection with Dyson whatsoever, I've just bought a number of their products over the years…Jeremy

I've only had the machine for about 2 weeks so can't review it's long term efficiency but so far, it's been really impressive. With plenty of different tools, I don't have any excuses for not keeping every nook and cranny clean in my house – or car! Easy to handle, although it's slightly annoying that you have to keep the trigger pressed all the time as this compromises any change in grip. However, I have bought a small accessory on Amazon that easily overcomes this and wonder why on earth that a company as innovative as Dyson, hasn't thought of it and incorporated it. The battery life has so far lived up to expectation and I have achieved the stated 20 minutes before a recharge is needed. It would be nice if, like other companies, Dyson make it simple to buy a spare battery that can easily be swapped for the battery that needs recharging, so that usage time can be doubled very conveniently. As far as I see, the battery can only be removed by unscrewing a certain number of screws – hardly convenient and not very inventive for a company that has a reputation of being so. I got my Dyson V7 on a special deal which, to be honest, is the only way I could possibly afford a Dyson as they are sooooo expensive.John

I bought the V7 Absolute as a lightweight, efficient cleaner predominately for the ground floor of my house where I have luxury vinyl tiles throughout. The soft, motorised vacuum head is ideal for this type of job. The good range of alternative attachments are handy for the majority of tasks and I’ve found the suction power to be perfectly adequate in the few weeks I’ve used it. I’m generally very happy with my purchase but would list the following as areas for improvement in my honest opinion: 1) I don’t see the purpose of having to keep your finger pressed on the power button during operation. It makes for a slightly less comfortable experience. 2) why can’t there be a battery power indicator, which shows the amount of energy left in the battery, be across the entire range? It seems a bit mean only to have a solitary blue indicator on the cheaper V7 Absolute, given it’s still quite an expensive piece of kit. The fact that the unit will just stop without warning, often mid-task, when the battery power runs out, is quite frustrating, especially when you then have to wait some time for it to be recharged. 3) the run time/battery life could be longer 4) the rubbish canister could be a little larger 5) even though the clear plastics used on the motorised vacuum heads look modern and fresh when new, I suspect that they will become easily scuffed and scratched through normal usage over time. 6) the gold coloured coating on the wand already has some minor scratches on it and some ‘misty/powdery’ looking dabs, even though it has had very minimal and careful use in a non-family home to date. So will the cosmetic appearance of the appliance stand the test of time? I’ll have to wait and see!RAV7ABS

Super quick, So much easier than getting the broom, sweeping and hoping to get it all with the dustpan. It helps keep my floors so much cleaner. I love that I don't have to deal with a vacuum cord either. I actually keep my floors clean every day with this than if I was sweeping or using a traditional vacuum. I also love the attachments, it makes getting to harder to reach places easier. The clip/button to empty is a little hard to press at first, I felt like I was breaking it, but I confirmed with the directions I was emptying appropriately (I was) so I kept pushing and it worked. It also gets easier to empty the more you use it. I can't even tell that I have an older version for the price I paid. My mom has a newer version and this one stands up to it the same. I think the main difference I notice is emptying the canister but I'll take that for the price. I've also used this to vacuum my couch since we have a dog and cat who like to use that as their bed and it works like a charm to get the pet fur. I will keep this forever!tess.goeller

So for some reason I used to be against the expensive Dyson products. I even used an older corded vacuum that made me feel that I was correct in my assumption that they were way over priced. But after buying a Hoover corded, where it quickly failed with an irreplaceable battery. Followed that with a cheap corded version, ok but a pain with a cord. And then a cheap knockoff of the Dyson style that has very little suction, and now I broke down and bought a Dyson to try it because the price was right. First off these ARE better than the cheaper knock-offs. A lot more suction with these. And all the parts fit together better and smoother connecting and disconnecting. Coming from an engineering background I immediately noticed how so many little things had been done right. I am impressed. I hope it holds up. If I had bought a Dyson in the first place I could have purchased the most expensive version for what I spent on all the others.aruba4me2

I have had my Dyson v7 for about two weeks now, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The size / weight / no cord / maneuverability is perfect for getting to every spot that my old vacuum could not reach. I can now vacuum under the bed, on the bookcases, the stairs, the HVAC air return, etc with ease – and it also works great in the car! The suction is good, and having a simple bag-less canister is great. The only issue I have is not with the machine, but with my choice of which Dyson version to purchase. My Dyson v7 works exactly (actually better than) as advertised, but sometimes 30 minutes of run time (which is what is advertised for the v7) is a little shy of what I need. This is not the fault of the vacuum, but I should have purchased a Dyson rated for 60 minutes (the v10 or v11.) Luckily the recharge cycle is not that long – so this is not too much of an issue. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recomend it to anyone who wants to make the task of vacuuming easier, faster, and more enjoyable.StevenS

I am so upset and disappointed with the DC50. I had no idea such a well known and well respected firm such as Dyson could produce a vacuum that won't move on carpet. My parents have had Dysons since they came out and always loved them. I saw this one and though ideal size for my house, lightweight, brilliant. Stupidly impulse bought before looking up reviews online. Now I see its a common problem. Our carpet is medium pile, yet the vacuum initially is hard to push and I mean really hard, then the rotating brush just stops working which makes it practically impossible to push. I press the button to get the rotating brush going again, one push and it stops. Its not a fault with the machine because a lot of other people complain about this issue. I just can't believe theres a vacuum on the market that won't work on carpet. I now feel stuck with a very expensive mistake. One plus though, I cannot fault the suction (probably why its so hard to push) but the tiny bit of the living room I managed to do before slumping and crying because I wasted so much money, it sucked up loads of bits and dog hair that our old vacuum had completely missed.lynsmith

Although, it pains me somewhat to write a review on a vacuum cleaner, the Dyson range is clearly noteworthy…. and then some! I have been a proponent of the Dyson range for over 20 years; I continue to be a ardent supporter and the Dyson Small Ball Multi Floor vacuum is no exception. I have, today, retired a long-serving (7 years) DC12 – with full honours! It served us extremely well (until yesterday, when it sadly gave up the ghost). Although I was completely satisfied with the retiree's performance; but, we had not appreciated how tired it had become. A 4-bed house, 2 teenagers, 2 dogs and recent new carpets. The "new kid on the block" has hit the carpets running. We had new carpets a year ago and today's first outing for the Small Ball has been first class; visibly discernible results. Outstanding suction, reduced noise and effortless to manoeuvre around the house. Thank you to the Dyson team for delivering another absolutely first class cleaning product! Having used this vacuum over the Christmas and New Year break when all the family and their dogs descend onto us, in excess of 5 Labradors, I can truly give the Dyson Small Ball 5 stars. On a daily basis it copes with the fallout of my 3 dogs and messy husband and although the dust bin is small and fills quickly I can only assume this is because it is so efficient, my carpets and rugs look way cleaner and it adjusts from hard to soft surfaces with ease. The compact and neat design of this machine has many advantages, the first being storage, I like my cleaner to be available but not in the way, this little beauty can be popped into a cupboard or even tucked away behind a sofa or armchair! (my little trick) With the retractable handle it folds down into a small unit and in a small house would be an ideal choice. The cleaning properties of the Small Ball are improved by the smaller brush head, it gets into little spaces easily and the wand features are amazing, the vacuum is well balanced and does not fall over when you are catching cobwebs, so much better with the tools on-board, nothing gets lost. With regard to the small dust bin, I found this a positive feature as you have to empty it on a regular basis thus avoiding the musty smells that can arise when the dirt is left in the bin to fester for a couple of weeks! You need to take the bin apart to empty it thoroughly if like me you have animals, as the hair shoots up the canister and can wedge in the top, but it's easy to do as long as you are not heavy handed. The Small Ball is an all round great machine, it easily copes with a large, messy house and I can highly recommend it.Mamabaz

Pros: This Dyson has such strong suction, much more than any model I have ever tried before. You can actually see the carpet lifting off the floor it's so strong. There is a suction release trigger on the handle which lets some of the air out making moving the sweeper easier, although this means it's not cleaning as well.There are 2 levels of suction, changed using the + and – slider on the top of the sweeper. When it's on the + option, the suction is even stronger. The actual engine part isn't that heavy and followed me around with ease.There are 2 little attachment tools to get into small areas, these click on very easily. One is a long thin nozzle with the option of using a brush on it and the other is a flatter one suitable for fabrics, upholstery etc. These come with a holder so they can attach to the long arm making for easier access when moving around.The dirt bin is large and can hold quite a lot. Emptying the dirt out is very easy, you press a button and the bin pops out. Then press another button on the bin to release the door and dirt falls out. The filter also just lifts out of the bin so cleaning that will be easy too.The handle on the engine is very comfortable and stable. Cons: The suction is so strong that it makes vacuuming really hard work, trying to move the sweeper across the floor back and forward really takes a lot of strength and effort. As I have a bad back this makes vacuuming painful for me. Although if the suction release trigger is pulled it makes it a lot easier (but less cleaning).Also, I am tall and therefore have the arm fully extended. I feel that this makes the arm feel less stable and also difficult to manoeuvre. Storing this model takes up a lot more room that the handheld unit or the traditional upright models.Lisa

Pros: I was really excited to try my new dyson and it didn't disappoint! It has a very sleek design and a long handle/tube making it easy to reach up high to do ceilings, light fittings, curtain rails etc. Its actually one of the best hoovers I've used suction-wise, yet despite its power, it is lightweight and so easily maneouvrable, (essential for me as I'm partially disabled and usually find uprights too hard to push and cylinders too heavy to drag). The tools make doing the stairs a doddle and the multi-floor head adjusts itself depending whether you're vacuuming carpet/lino/tiles/laminate etc.The clear dust collection receptacle has a max line so you can see the dust and fluff accumulating and is easily detached for emptying when full. It can be emptied and clicked back into place in seconds without the effort or expense of fiddly bags and filters to replace. Great for picking up pet hairs, I was really surprised at how much it collected compared with my previous cat/dog cylinder hoover. A quick rewind cord mechanism makes it very easy to pack away and store without a flex/cord to worry about.Overall a very good cleaner. So much so that my hubby had a go too and didn't complain and thats always a plus for us ladies!! NB Not sure that Dyson would claim this is the case with every man but it worked with mine 😉 Really happy with it. Cons: The only criticism I would have is that once you clip the hose onto the body for storage it seems to take up quite a bit of room so is therefore easier to store with the tube/head stood beside it rather than actually attached.Stephanie

When I received a call to test the new Dyson Ball, I was reluctant. I think the caller was surprised! But in all honesty after my back surgery, unfortunately I’ve found it a daunting task to vacuum. Moving the vacuum cleaner around, lifting it to change directions and overall manging to vacuum without being left in scrutinising back pain was impossible. I stopped using the vacuum cleaner and although it was painful to watch my children and husband vacuumed, I had no choice! After speaking to the caller and secretly, desperately wanting to find a vacuum cleaner that caused less/no back pain, I agreed to test the Dyson Ball. I used it several times before writing this review as I was sceptical and did not want other people out there with back pain to try something that could potentially cause further pain. I was pleasantly surprised! On my first use of the Dyson Ball, I managed to vacuum a complete room without any back pain. I found the Ball to be brilliant, easy to move and overall light to carry. I could move the Dyson Ball around without difficulty and the self-adjusting cleaner head is fantastic, which meant I had to do less physically. So, on using the Ball the third time, I continued through the living room, hall and kitchen, on different surfaces without any stress, pain or having to call the children to help complete the vacuuming! After using it for a couple of weeks, on several occasions. I am happy to recommend the Dyson Ball to all, including people like me who suffer from back problems and want a ‘Back Friendly Ball’, to vacuum with! I researched for quite a while before settling on the V11. In every single review the V11 used the High Torque head. I didn't even realize another head was available on the V11 because I don't believe there ever was before. They do state what it is in the description but I doubt most people will notice, like I didn't. The problem with the Motorhead this version comes with is that it doesn't work on deep pile as well and it just pushes around larger debris on hard floors. It also doesn't have the holes on the side for edge cleaning. Aside from that, this works well. The amount of hair it pulled out of the carpet that my premium corded vacuum left behind is pretty remarkable. It's quiet and easy to use and comes with a lot of useful tools. The trigger is annoying, not because it's difficult or tiring to pull but because of the way it makes a lot of the vacuum weight rest on top of your finger. It gets uncomfortable after awhile. I would still recommend the V11, just not this version. I feel that Dyson putting a head on here from a couple of generations ago and calling it a sale is misleading.plmn

Bought it a few days ago and right away I put it to the test. —LONG REVIEW— First off, my old vacuum: Was using 7 year old corded vacuum that I had to dismantle (full dismantle with screwdrivers) a few times a year just to keep it running efficiently. It was cumbersome and heavy and I thought it was doing a thorough job. Was a hassle to clean the house with it. Compared to this vacuum, my old clunker was barely trying. The Dyson Animal V10: For the first clean I ran it hard, and I mean hard. It ran about 25 minutes on the highest setting, to be expected for the battery life. It pulled dirt, hair, dander… you name it it pulled it from the carpet. I just stood there shaking my head because I truly thought my last vacuum was cleaning as it pulled dirt too but, not like this. This Dyson is an efficiency king. The next run: I put it on the middle setting. Ran for about 40-45 min before it needed to rest/cooldown and recharge. In that time; I did the hardwood floors, kitchen, went back over the carpets, hallway, got the cobwebs out of the ceiling corners (couldn’t do that with my last vacuum!) and again…. The amount of dirt it pulled up! All the hard surface floors I was sweeping the traditional way first then vaccuming with my clunker and then having to go back behind it with a static collection pad on a swiffer then mop. You get the idea…. Long and tedious. A task I could do once a week. With this Dyson, it’s a daily spruce up now. Heck, it’s going to reduce the amount I mop simply because of how well it cleans the floors! I swear it polishes them from how the brushes are on the floor. After this clean: (cleaning the vacuum itself) I read the manual and decided to learn how to clean the vacuum and set to task. No screwdrivers needed. It’s easy to wipe out with a damp cloth, to clear the brushes with debris. All you need is a keyring, the metal ring itself to easily turn the dials on the two brush heads to release the brushes. The ease of cleaning the vacuum was not even comparable to my old one. The Dyson took me 10 minutes. Albeit I had to air out the filter after I rinsed it out which took a while. Just have to let that rest and I recommend having a fan blow air onto it so it dries faster. 3rd clean: Lowest setting, just a touch up. I thought I did an amazing job the past couple days but this thing surprised me still. The canister was halfway full of fur, dander, and things as I quickly took 15 min to do my house. This thing just can’t be beat. On the lowest setting, it was still able to show me that it was working hard. Even when the previous two days I put it to the test and thought there was no way there was anything left, this thing proved me wrong again. Battery didn’t even drop a bar on the display and it cleaned what my dog managed to shed the previous night. All in all: This thing is lightweight, easy to change attachments, and can’t be beat in its efficiency of dirt collection and disposal. It’s also easy to clean and take care of. After 3 days, my house is much cleaner. I do have to say though, this thing made me feel like I was living in filth and that I had never cleaned in my life. It put my Previous vacuum to absolute shame. All that time spent with my old one seems like wasted efforts compared to this Dyson beast. Alas; I have this thing now and sneezing less! Bonus: it’s much quieter! My dog doesn’t run from it anymore. He actually likes it! Con: one attachment I wish dyson would make for these, a hose attachment. Cause this thing would be amazing for cleaning out a car but it’s a bit bulky to get under seats. In fact, a hose would help for any tight spaces. Just hold the unit on one hand and clean with the other with whatever other attachment you need on the opposite end of the hose. So all in all, this vacuum is well worth the price. 5/5. It does exactly as advertised.Canadian

The Good: The vacuum unit itself is exceptional, with excellent suction, ease of maintenance, run time, and insofar longevity; it competes well with your average full-sized canister vacuums, which is truly impressive given the size of the Dyson. The hype, on this front, is valid. The Bad: However, the well-built central unit is let down by tools and accessories with components made from fragile, heat-molded plastic. Essentially, only the mechanical drive components are made from metal (I think), but everything else is plastic. While Dyson boasts that the main machine body is made from "ABS Polycarbonate" (think: riot shields), the smaller components seem to be made of high-density polyethylene or similar material. Our smaller motorized head unit suffered a breakage in the head-to-guard joint, which should not be the case for a relatively new, seldom used part. The use of brittle plastic in such a high-wear area by the spinning rotor seems at best poor design, at worst planned obsolescence. I understand that full-metal construction is a thing of the past, but "full-plastic" construction is not a viable alternative; some components need to be metal, full stop. The Ugly: Unfortunately, warranty details are misleading as they apparently do not include the tools, and nowhere in the warranty documentation provided was there a distinction between "tools" and the "unit." While I understand that normal wear-and-tear is to be expected and therefore not covered by warranty, I am disappointed with the craftsmanship of a really expensive product that utilizes non-durable heat-molded plastic for high-stress areas, specifically around moving joints. The concern is that having both motorized head units break renders the unit unable to clean carpet or furniture fabric, reducing 90% of its utility, and will cost you ~$200 extra to purchase the new motorized heads. In closing; a great unit overall, but my confidence in the product is let down by the fragility of the core tools and some of the convenient language of the warranty provided. Either warranty everything you produce or make it clear that the warranty only applies to the literal vacuum itself.Marcus_W

Arrived in good condition, a letter was enclosed saying it was refurbished a "thoroughly tested" to ensure proper operation. Not. On Max suction lasts <30 seconds with just holding it in air, you can see the indicators lights go from 3 to 1 and then it shuts off. Place it in the charging cradle and it indicates it has a medium charge. Remove it, repeat with same result, dies in a under 30 seconds on max suction. If run at normal suction it runs much longer, but max drains the battery very quickly; it is supposed to run for 7 minutes. So clearly the battery is defective or the electronics in the unit are. Sending it back for a refund. This is a common complaint about Dyson, the batteries are often defective. Also, was shocked at how cheap the plastic fittings and body feel for an item that normally sells in the $400-$800 range. I could see this cracking pretty easily with the slightest impact or pressure applied to a latch.John

I am delighted with my cordless Animal V8 Vac it is just what I was looking for, light and easy to use, and no cord to trip over, with a powerful suction, and always ready to go. At 80 + I was finding my old friend, A Slim all-floors upright vac over ten years old and still going strong rather too much for me, I was thinking of having someone in to clean for me. Now I have no need to, and my new Animal V8 will soon pay for itself. My daughter is very pleased to adopt my old Slim All-Floors vac as it had many more years of service to give. The vacuum cleaner is actually very good as I expected. I have other Dyson products and they really are very good. I had a lot of problem with the volume of the other vacuum cleaners, and this is very quiet, when it is in normal vacuum, which is already totally enough for cleaning. The motorhead that accompany the product is a great accessory, making all the difference between this product and others. I only used the hard floor, and it's amazing how much more it cleans. I have 2 dogs that loose a lot of hair, and this one being excellent. I do not have carpet, but I tested it on a carpet and it's cleaning is amazing. However, there are some things I did not like. The plastic of the material looks a bit brittle, and I feel a certain fear of falling to the ground, breaking easily. Mainly the Docking station, which sometimes think will break where it is screwed into the wall. And the fact that the rear of the carton stand has no way to put double-sided tape to stick to the wall instead of just fixing it sticking to the wall could be different. But what bothers the most is the ergonomics of the device. After a certain time of use, it starts to hurt the arm and shoulder due to the weight, and to hurt enough the base of the thumb, because the weight is all in it, coming to form bubble. I think there might be additional protection in the region not to hurt. The trigger for vacuuming should also have a latch to keep it on because it tires to have to keep squeezing with the finger all the time. I found an excellent device, and would buy again, even with those negative details. I will try to make some adaptations, gluing a protection not to hurt the finger, and an elastic or something similar to keep the kitten pressed.RenatoOo

I have a hand-held (trigger 7) and I really like it and the attachments of this V8 fit my hand-held perfectly! I purchased this one because I broke my ankle and needed something to clean effortlessly since I have a cast on at the moment and my handheld didn’t come with a wand or floor attachment. I’m happy to say I’ve vacuum every day since receiving this (two weeks ago)!! Love LOVE Love it. I VACUUM WHILE on my FOOT SCOOTER(picture that!) It comes with more attachments than I can use, it has a learning curve for MÉDIUM to HIGH PILE carpets. Try it with the low settings first and lower the wand as you vacuum. It cleans the carpet without damaging or “freezing up” the fibers, it also plumps up flattened high traffic areas of the carpet. I must say that the air does kick back some debris on hard floor as you come backwards. The floor/carpet attachment does not pick up my Dog’s dry food unless I lift up the vacuum to land the food under the vacuum head. I keep it charging at all times and battery is enough for me, however, they can do better. It does NOT last 30 minutes! I’ve dance with returning or not..but the sale price was really good vs how much easier this makes cleaning for me and the fact that all of the attachments fit my hand-held.Dalitza

In order for this vacuum to run you must hold the power/trigger button down the entire time you vacuum. The moment you take your finger off the trigger the machine stops! This wasn't mentioned during their video presentation! I called Dyson's customer service to make sure this wasn't a defect. It's actually a feature! Who came up with this brilliant idea? You can see that the woman in the video presentation is holding the trigger down with her index finger at 7:54 minutes. They also claimed that the battery lasts up to 45 minutes. They neglected to tell you that it lasts that long if you use the smallest attachments. The suction power was good for the 5 minutes I used it.ThelmaSW

I absolutely love this vacuum. I talk about this vacuum all the time and I’d like to mention the reviews I see about the battery. Mine lasts for days. I charge it downstairs and keep it upstairs in the corner for kitchen messes. It stays charged for days. I just love the cordless and will never buy another corded vacuum again. The power it has and it does everything. I use it on concrete even. My patio. My vehicles. My garage. Very rug in the house. Carpet. Hardwood. Under couches and beds. On my walls and drapes. If you are at a point in your life where you want something to pamper you for cleaning. This is it. It is light and easy to clean. I’m not sure why people rave about dyson. My parents have the dyson ball and it clogs a lot (my dad had a German shepherd). Theirs is also heavy which is tiring. So I should have known I wouldn’t like the cordless. It’s basically a glorified sweeper. I hope no one has this as their main vacuum because it’s not strong enough to be your main vacuum especially with a bunch of carpet. We have mostly rugs and hardwood floors. Sometimes it picks up cat litter, other times it might fling it backwards. It NEVER. Vacuums cat food or kids cereal or big crumbs on hardwood because the bottom opening is so small which is IRRITATING. It just drags the larger stuff all around the place. Like what’s the point? It also doesn’t have a light in the front so when I use my corded shark navigator I see the dust and cat hair I miss with my dyson. I want to try the bissel cordless since it has a light but I have a feeling it’s probably just as annoying, but with a helpful light. Overall, I like my over priced sweeper, not extremely happy and not sure what the hype around dyson is. They’re not great at all. Save your money and try a different brand or better yet, just buy a corded vacuum unless you just want a super expensive sweeper then this ones for you!Powers

Love it! I've always wanted a Dyson but the price was intimidating to me. I HATE cords. I live in a smaller space and it takes me longer to get my vacuum out and deal with the cord, then it does for me to actually vacuum. So I love that this is cordless. I read a ton of customer reviews beforehand and it seems like the V7 and the V8 get the most praise from customers, so I knew I wanted one of those two models. I read about the battery life and I read the manual and then I went to Dyson's website itself and read everything they had to say about battery life, tips and tricks etc… and it seems like heat is the enemy with these batteries. It says not to charge it immediately after you finish vacuuming, let it cool down first… things like that. So I think I know how to make it last as long as possible. I used it just a few minutes ago. LOVED it! No cord, it's magnificent. I started in the living room, then I went into my daughter's room and then my room and then I went into the kitchen and it handled cat litter like a boss! I love that I don't have to touch the dirt, it just falls right out of the canister into the trash. My corded vacuum, the bottom opens on the canister but it doesn't come out, I have to reach in and pull it out and then go right to the sink and wash my hands. Gross. So I love that this Dyson is the opposite of all the annoyances my corded vacuum has. Plus it's on sale right now and I saved 80 bucks. It's a dream and I hope it lasts me a long long time to come. I do, however, have to concur with the customer review I read that mentioned hand cramping. I got that. By the time I was finishing up, my hand was hurting/cramping enough that I had to switch to my other hand. That might just be me though, I get that when I have to hold the switch on the weed wacker too.kkbearmama

Let's start off by saying this is the best vacuum I've ever had. The suction power is amazing, and I am still surprised by how much dirt, dust, and hair it manages to suck up with each use. Having a cat that sheds a lot, this vacuum has been an incredible tool to have in the home. The ability to wall-mount this vacuum for recharging, and its light weight, make for convenient use, storage, and charging. This is also the perfect vacuum for stairs; the floor attachment can be used as a stick-vac or as a hand-vac with ease. Emptying the vacuum canister is super easy as well. Additionally, the floor vacuum attachment makes it easy to remove the roller to allow for clearing any longer hair or objects that end up wrapping themselves around the roller. A few small frustrations and limitations: The swivel elbow on the floor attachment clogs up frequently due to pet hair and longer female human hair. The battery life is a little shorter than I'd like. You can stretch battery life by not using the MAX function, but realistically, who isn't going to use the MAX function when it is available and does the best job cleaning? Overall, this is a great vacuum, especially for smaller homes and offices and those who have a pet or two that regularly sheds hair. But if you need longer battery life and don't want to deal with clearing out hair clogs in the floor vacuum attachment, you may want to choose an upgraded model.TheRealOrdizzle

I bought the Dyson V7 on a $100 off promo, and it has been a great purchase. I had been using a simple stick vacuum which was corded and found myself putting off vacuuming because I didn't want to deal with the cord plugging/unplugging/replugging. Now I have no excuses and find myself using the Dyson daily. I have hard floors + some rugs. The amount this sucks up, WOW! The clear canister puts it all on display. I know that this is one of the lower level Dyson models, but it is more than enough for me. I am able to cover my entire 3 level townhouse in 1 charge, so I couldn't imagine needing more than what this offers. 5 star!Michelle

I have wanted a cordless vacuum for a long time, and have always wanted a Dyson. I couldn't afford full price so after searching around and doing a bit of research I decided wold give a refurb a go as it is a third of the price. I was hesitant but this was coming from Dyson themselves, it promised to be as good as new AND they offer a 6 months warranty so I took the plunge! After several YouTube video reviews I decided on the V6. I have a very small one bed with wooden floors throughout, some tiles in the kitchen and bathroom and a few rugs, so I have all floor types covered! II was surprised that the machine already came charged, so tried it out immediately. I have since used this about 5 times since receiving it to give the place a once over, AND I STILL HAVE NOT CHARGED IT!! it said that on the lower suction setting (what I have been using) I should get around 20 mins, I am almost certain I have done more than that already?! I have been emptying it after each use, that's easy and mess free. I am asthmatic and allergic to dust so this is great for me. The vacuum clips together easily, its very light, easy to move around on all surfaces, it moves flat for under the bed and sofa. Its perfect for my small apartment to whizz around and for pulling out quickly to suck up any bits I see. I am not sure I would have paid $450 for it, but $150 was perfect ad I hope ii have no issues with it and it lasts me a long time.JENNA

Bought this stick Dyson when the larger unit wasn't available. Easy to put together. Easy to empty. Haven't yet installed the unit so it's sitting nicely on my computer table (small enough that it isn't an issue for space). Very surprised about the short battery duration. I get 10-15 minutes of use before the battery dies. So, not for a large clean, more for quick room tidy. Instructions did say that battery lasts longer if using the "standard" suction vs. "Max" suction, but who ever really uses the slower/softer suction on a vacuum? If the item is so delicate that it would be damaged by regular suction, then I'm not vacuuming it anyway. Also, quite heavy for a "stick" vacuum. Perhaps that's why the battery is so short. You wouldn't be comfortable after holding it for longer than 15 minutes anyway. A bit disappointed. If all you need is aTaraD
