This review is for Braun Electric Razor for Men, Series 8 8417s Electric Foil Shaver with Precision Beard Trimmer. This Electric razor is for "men" but I am a woman and used it on my legs and it worked fantastically!!! As a woman it is difficult to find an Electric razor that works like it should. I received this as a free trial from pinchme and I was a skeptic… but after trying it I have to say I shaved my legs with complete ease! Of all the Shavers I have owned over the years, this Braun Series 8 model 8330S is by far the worst of the last 30 years. It drags over the face when shaving and is uncomfortable to use. It is clunky and noisy and sounds as if parts are loose. The foil release is difficult to use and seems to be out of adjustment. It takes several attempts to get the foil out and back in. I have a Braun Series 5 shaver which is superior to this Series 8. I plan to return this shaver because it is either a defective product or because it is does not perform as claimed. As a lifelong wet shaver, I am very impressed with this electric shaver. I’ve been using it for over a week now and the most amazing thing is that I did not get a razor burn at all. The trimmers and foils are very sensitive and engineered to adopt to your face contours and beard type as you shave. I got more than a week’s shaves on a single charge, so battery life is also pretty good. It feels light, yet powerful in your hand. The design is very sleek and comes with a lean travel case which is very convenient. I tried both dry and wet shaving (even with a brush and foam). When I was introduced to shaving, I tried my Dad's Sunbeam, Remington foil and a DE analog. I ended up doing the DE and got tired of nicks and cuts and skin irritation. in 1972, I started an almost 50 year relationship with Norelco "rotary" products. I went as high as $200+ in that line and it seems they have plateaued as far as technology advances are concerned. I was fed up with the poor quality of replacement blades available today, so I began a search for a replacement shaver. After reading numerous reviews, mostly pro, I decided to give the Arc5 a shot. All I can say is if you find yourself in my spot, do not hesitate. Get this shaver with the cleaning/charging unit, STAT! PROS: The closest shave I've gotten, next to a razor, EVER. Did NOT irritate my skin (I have sensitive skin) Larger head > shorter shave time Flex head follows your facial contours (jaw line, neck, etc.) Beard "sensor" adjusts to your beard's current length. Trimmer does a good job. Shaver has a "built-in" cleaning function, which you can use if you're travelling, or in between "tank" cleanings. Head size and shaving method delivers a faster shave. The cleaning/charging base has a "Dry/charge" function. CONS: Price of replacement heads and cleaning solution concentrate. I got this in anticipation of my upcoming birthday (thank you, honey!) and read the manual. I HAD to check the unit out, so I put some pre-shave lotion on and charged the shaver. Some people complain about the size of the shaver. It really is comparable to the Norelco I was using, but the shape of the head is what speeds your shave along. (It covers more territory). Since there is usually a break-in time for new shaving methods, I expect my shaves to improve over the next week. I used primarily an up and down motion on my face, then I changed direction and orientation on my chin and neck. One complaint I avoided is on my upper lip I have a moustache, so I didn't have a problem with trying to get a close shave there. After finishing and evaluating the shave quality, I took the head off, and rinsed it and the shaver under the tap. Then, I wiped excess water off both and reassembled the unit and dropped it into the cleaning/charging base and put it on dry. I haven't used the cleaning function of the tank yet, but will update my review after I've done so. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this razor. after a month using every other day I havent experienced any of the negatives I read about. I use it on my head and neck below my beard. I found if I use it every other day or 3rd day on my head it shaves easy and as smooth as a razor. Like all electric razors it does not do well with long hair. the only draw back i have is the razor head is large. Which helps speed up the process doing my whole head but little difficult around the top of my ear to sideburn section. I still think its best razor I have ever used in 20 years though. The charging/cleaning station is so nice. Yea it can be a little loud on the cleaning portion but its the razor turning on and off so what's the difference when you use it? Travel case and option to still sharge it with just the cord is well thought out. Mean I dont have to lug the station with me when I go away for a week. But after 20 use Im still at 80 to 85 percent So i likely wouldnt need to charge it anyway.Abult

I was very hesitant to try an electric razor, considering my beard is full and thick and grows quickly. I had been using a DE razor and wet shaving for the last few years. I tired of the time and blood. I researched the closest cutting electric razor sand this one seemed to be among the best. Turns out that I like it even more than I had hoped. It shaves close and quickly. It allows me to shave daily or go 3 days and handles both situations with comfort. Been using for about a month and I will never go back to blades and cream and the hassle. If I'm careful and focused this razor is basically as close a blade. A solid shave takes under 4 minutes and I experience no issues at all even with somewhat sensitive skin. If you're considering an electric razor, I'd start right here. Another great rotary in Philips' lineup. This series does solve the issue of many complaints regarding the detachable trimmer and heads of other Philips shavers – it has the traditional flip-top head and pop-up trimmer. This adds to the bulk of the shaver, body and head, but precludes having to keep track of a separate trimmer and remove the head for cleaning, and it works reasonably well, although for me the trimmer isn't quite as effective as the SmartClick attachments for the Series 9000 shavers. The ComfortGlide Rings really are effective, and provide a frictionless shave, although in this model they are slightly larger than the Anti-Friction rings of the S7940 for example, and require some maneuvering to get around tight areas. The Quick Clean pods use the same cleaning solution as the SmartClean cartridges for the SmartClean stations, which is excellent for cleaning and lubricating the shaver. The Quick Clean Pod is unpowered however, and uses the shaver's power, reducing it by about 1 percent per cleaning, although on a positive note doesn't require cords or cables and is more compact – actually usable for travel. The GroomTribe app is the Achilles Heel of all these Bluetooth shavers, and in particular this model (S7782), because there's no information regarding this particular shaver – the app seems exclusively to recognize only the S7940 shaver. On the plus side, the S7782 will connect, and it does record the shaving time and the percentage of rotation (which improves shaving efficiency), although the motion sensor algorithm in the shaver appears not to recognize the correct rotational movement about half the time. The good news is you don't actually need the app, and this shaver has an LED screen that provides all the essential information about the shaver, including battery life, cleaning information and the previously mentioned inaccurate rotation statistics. The shaving heads (SH71/52) only have a single cutting ring, but actually are comfortable and provide a very close shave. This new Norelco shaver is a big change from my current one. Some things I really like about it and a couple not so much. Starting with the not so much is the fact that there's no charger for this shaver, it just comes with a cable with a USB end. My current Norelco has a nice charger base it sits upright in and plugs into the wall. The shave head on this is also considerably larger than my current one and takes some getting used to for trimming around tight spots on the face. Now for the good, this shaver requires very little effort for shaving stubble on my face and gets it all with only a couple passes. The way the shave head can contour around the face is cool and helps to get shaving done quicker. The shaver has a battery level indicator on the front which comes in handy, my current one only has a light that flashes when its time to charge it. Overall this is a nice replacement shaver other than not coming with a charger right out of the box.dmx10101

Probably the best rotary shaver ever made. This model is akin to the old-style Norelco shavers of the 90s into the 2000s. Only with a modern look and feel. For a while, since 2015 or so I think, most Philips Norelco models had heads with two rows of blades and were somewhat open on the outside. I feel this was a mistake as skin could get caught in the open spaces. This model however has the blades completely enclosed by the comb with one row of blades. Like the old ones used to be. And believe me, one row of blades is fine. I get a great shave from this model. Philips Norelco reached the apex of electric shaving technology years ago with lift-and-cut blades, and they just keep improving. But the previous style of blades was not best for me. Speaking of lift-and-cut, that was not a meaningless marketing slogan. If the hairs were long enough you could actually feel them being plucked, ouch. Fortunately gone are the days of nickel-cadmium batteries taking 8 hours to charge and dry shaving only. This is the new era of electric shaving. The blades are self sharpening and most if not all models are now wet / dry. This model feels sturdy and solid with good weight. Fits well in the hand. And the motor is strong but not too loud. And the blades cut through stubble like it's not even there. I've used many norelco models through the years. But there's something about this one. It cuts cleaner, easier and faster. And it just feels better on my face, and in my hand. I shave in the shower with Nivea Men Sensitive gel, because I'm a sensitive guy. And if I'm in a hurry I shave dry. This Panasonic ARC Shaver is doing a great job on my beard. This is the first Panasonic brand shaver I have used. I had previously wondered what these shavers were like and now that I have tried it, I like it a lot. I like the design. It is lightweight and has a good design for gripping it as you shave. The foils have a slight arch to them, which I have found makes it much easier to maintain contact and improve my ability to get a good shave in areas around my neck and chin, as it hugs the contours better in those areas than previous shavers I have used. They call the foils ultra thin. It is definitely giving me a very close shave. I have found my shaving time is reduced, as I used to have to go over my skin many more times with other shavers, to get as close of a shave as I am getting with fewer passes with this Panasonic. There is a pop up trimmer which I have used to straighten up my side burns and that works quite well. There are also two adjustable attachments you can use to trim a beard or stubble to any of 6 lengths that you select. This shaver can be used wet or dry, for those who prefer to shave in the shower. I prefer to use it in dry mode. The rechargeable battery gives you 50 minutes per charge. I like the fact it is a lithium ion battery, so you can plug it in as much as you want without getting a memory on the battery or worrying about over charging it. The battery fully charges in about an hour, but also lets you do a quick 3 minute charge for a single shave if you forgot to charge it. The shaver also has a travel lock. This will be nice, as I have had previous shavers turn on in my luggage and be drained by the time I unpack. With the travel lock, I can charge it before I leave town for a few days and not have to bring the charge cord along. It also has an LED display that shows you the battery life, a charge indicator, a shaving sensor and the travel lock. Finally, it is easy to clean, as you just use a little hand soap and turn on what is called the sonic vibration cleaning mode and then rinse with water. My skin is super delicate and is easily irritated when I shave. When I moved from disposable to electric my first venture was with rotary shaver. Rotary shaved real close to skin but my skin always got irritated with red rash and ingrown hairs. So I switched to foil and never looked back. This razer motor is much more stronger than my previous foil shaver but much more louder. So the trade off here is a better shave vs. a louder shave. The individual hairs on my face are very thick and I felt this shaver cut through the hairs like butter. I am left handed and like most shavers did not have a problem using this one. I would say if you buy this one just make sure to buy a razer pouch for storage. My previous shaver came with a stand and accessory compartments. Great for quick dry shaving for legs and arms you will not end up with nicks or stubble. This is a great dry shaver, if the hair is longer you want to use the trimmer first and make sure the hair is short to prevent the nicks. I have used it for a couple weeks now mainly using to shave my legs. Compared to my old electric razor this thing is great. It's a nice hefty weight that seems consistent with the quality I would expect for the price point. This razor holds a charge way longer than any electric razor I've ever owned. And the visible "charge remaining" gauge is an awesome bonus! Versatile options of using either the rocking "soft" head that moves fluidly with the curve of your leg, or a static head position for more control. The Dry/Wet feature – I usually avoid wet shaving with an electric razor because my hair is usually too soft and doesn't cut well. This razor works for me wet, almost as well as dry! Super easy to clean, just rinse under water. It would be great if they make the shape of the razor more versatile to shave other areas of the the body besides the face. Make it more ergonomic and make the head and handle a little versatile. Even with this slight inconvenience, this razor is WAY better than anything out there for women and does the job like a champ. Been shaving for 45 years, and mostly with Panasonic shavers. They are by far the best shavers made. I have 4 Panasonics in my collection right now… the ES8249, ES-LF51 ES-LA93 and the new ES-LV97. Whats nice about Panasonic is that the charger/cleaning station can be used interchangeable with almost any of it models in a pinch. I've used Braun, Reminington and most the top brands and Panasonic is the best, IMHO. The Braun had an annoying vibration to it and not as smooth as the Panasonics. My current shaver is a ES LA93 which is very good but only has 3 blades The ES-VS97 in new and improved, and I mean that literally. The 5 blade head are smooth and soft, and cut with less swipes than the ones with 3 blades. The pop up trimmer is a big improvement over older models, as it locks in place moving in either direction. Lastly, cosmetically it is much nicer looking with a matte black finish.cgnaked

I’m switching to this electric Panasonic Arc5 razor after having used another brand’s wet/dry electric razor for the past 13 years. The Arc5 razor is lightweight, and the matte black plastic doesn’t look or feel very premium, however, a silver/chrome model is also available and the warranty is 2 years. This razor performs very nicely and gives me a close shave both when using dry and wet with shaving cream. I very rarely have to make more than one pass over the same patch of skin, though I find that when shaving dry it’s easier to pull the skin taught to raise the hairs since I don’t have to work over the shaving cream. The first time I used the razor I did experience a bit of razor burn and irritation, especially around the Adam’s apple; the manual suggests that it could take up to 30 days of regular use for your skin to acclimate to the new shaver. That, plus I haven’t clean shaven properly in weeks as growing out your beard has become quite trendy during the COVID-19 pandemic. That said, I did use the trimmers first to trim my facial hair down to stubble before shaving and was impressed with the efficiency and smoothness of the pop up trimmers; they didn’t catch, pull, or snag once, which my old electric razor used to do constantly. If you like the stubble or 5 o’clock shadow look, you could probably even stop there. The LCD is bright and easy to read, but it really only gives you information about the remaining battery life and whether or not it is set to the “cleaning” mode. The charging cable connector is uniquely shaped, so if you lose it or it breaks, you’ll need to get a model/series specific replacement cable. It lasts about 2 weeks on a full charge (1 hour) if your daily shave averages about 3 minutes. While the unit I have did not come with a charging base, there are contacts on back of the handle for automatic charging when the razor is placed into a charging base. What I did find interesting about this razor is its beard density sensor which changes the motor speed based on the density/coarseness of the section of beard it is trimming. You can hear the motor sound change as it encounters thinner or thicker patches of hair, which works well on my uneven and patchy beard growth. The razor also has a cleaning cycle and comes with blade oil to maintain the blade sharpness and a brush to clean out any shavings. The top pops off easily for cleaning, and the foils and blades are simple to remove and replace when needed. The unit did come with a leatherette carry case and a plastic protective cap for travel. My beard may be a bit different than the avg. guy’s beard. I’m not a hairy guy, & I don’t have a thick, coarse, stubbly beard. If I don’t shave during the work week, I won't end up with a stylish 5 o’clock shadow until Friday afternoon–a look that a lot of other guys can achieve in just 1 day. But even with my soft, thin facial hair, this electric razor doesn’t offer the close shave I’d hoped for. In fact, the number of passes I’m forced to make over my face & neck to obtain a clean, whiskerless mug is both annoying & time-consuming. So, despite my slow-growing beard, if I don’t shave at least 2-to-3 times/week w/this electric razor, then I’m forced to revert to a disposable razor for a clean shave. In addition, I found that the shaver’s large head makes it a bit unwieldy & difficult to obtain a close shave in the area just beneath my nose. Whether shaving wet or dry & regardless of technique (going against the grain, stretching the skin, toggling the shaver head between the “free” & “lock” positions, utilizing the pop-up trimmer, etc.), I also found it difficult to get a clean shave under my jaw line, below my sideburns. I experienced similar difficulty in shaving the tiny hairs in the lower neck/throat area on either side of my Adam’s apple. Although some may prefer to utilize the razor’s wet shave capability, I don’t like to shave in the shower. Although I did try the wet shave option, it didn’t cut any better than the dry shave. So, after 2 tries at wet shaving, I went back to traditional dry shaving. As for the suggested shaving cream option, I don’t use shaving cream with an electric razor. For me, the whole pt. of an electric razor is convenience & time savings vs. dealing w/the hassles of a manual razor (running hot water, applying/removing shaving cream/gel, & cauterizing bloody nicks, etc.). Simply put: an electric shaver should provide a QUICK, safe, close shave without all the mess & fuss. Although a 2-yr. mfr.’s limited warranty sounds impressive vs. the industry std., a quick check revealed that the common recommended replacement parts (new blades & foils) aren’t inexpensive. So, I doubt I’ll be able to justify the expense of regular maintenance w/this razor (apart from routine cleaning). Instead, I’ll probably elect to put those funds towards the cost of a new shaver. Furthermore, the lithium ion battery life is just 3 yrs., & it isn’t intended to be replaced by the consumer. In some ways, this shaver could almost be considered an expensive disposable razor. On a minor note, the black travel case/pouch feels like cheap vinyl without any real padding or cushioning to fully protect the hardware & sensitive electronics. Overall, I'm a bit underwhelmed & disappointed, as I expected greater performance—namely, a closer, quicker shave—from a premium electric shaver at this price point.CriticalEye

When I received the product I briefly used it to shave my face. The product seemed to do a very good job of coverage as well as precisely removing the fine hair. It was a lot better than my current product. The price of the product is well worth it, considering it only takes one hour to charge. I looked at other products of this caliber and most of them took a lot longer to charge. The fact that you use a USB plug to charge the product also means it uses less electricity. This trimmer/razor is excellent. It works as advertised. It is the 3rd trimer that I have purchased. About 15 years ago I had a Norelco that worked great without attachments, so after the trimer broke, due to me dropping it, I purchased another brand and it never worked correctly. It had lots of attachments that had to be changed just to trim my beard. I kept it for a few months and replaced it with a Norelco and it was a poor as the one it was replacing. This is the first that I have found that works as well as the original trimer I had without all the silly attachments.TGSC

I bought this trimmer to replace a different brand one from Best Buy that was starting to have problems after 5 years of use. My biggest problem with this trimmer is that it has no power cord going to the the charging base and instead you plug the charger directly into the outlet then plug the trimmer on top of that. This is too much weight for the electrical outlet. Another issue is the box didn't say what the range of cutting lengths this trimmer allows. The previous trimmer cut hair from 1mm to 23mm but this only cuts from 1mm to 1cm which isn't long enough.Michael

Unit does a fine job of trimming the beard, moustache and sideburns! I remove the gauge and shave with it as well. It's not going to replace cream and a razor, but for my needs it gives me as close a shave as I need. I actually really like the non-corded charger, contrary to some reviews I read. I have charged it once since my purchase and gotten a half dozen shaves and trims in without recharging or loss of efficiency. Very pleased with my purchase.Lucky

This shaver is small and compact. It does come with a manual but I just plugged it in. Not reading I figured out hours later this was not a wireless shaver. Mistake on my end. So I went to the bathroom and slide the switch upwards to turn it on. Immediately the rotary heads start to move. I put this on my face and went in a circular motion. I had to go over hairs several time for it to cut. I also noticed this gets a little warm while using it. To turn it off just slide the switch downwards. It does come with a little cleaning brush. To clean this is super easy just pop the head off. I personally didnt care for this shaver. I didnt like how it struggled to cut the hair on my face. This is a great razor and so easy to use. It is extremely comfortable and gives a really close shave with no pulling or tugging of hair. It is easy to hold and glides very smoothly over entire face. Great for taking with you if you are an on the go person. It is the perfect size to toss on your over night bag. Also perfect for young person who is just starting his shaving life. This was my second experience using an electric shaver and I'm really impressed as my first time was an epic fail. First off, the R50 Rotary Shaver is easy to hold which is a plus to me. Being used to a standard blade razor I wasn't sure I'd get a close shave because I have thick facial hair. The R50 Series Rotary Shaver was easy to move over my face and the 3 rotating heads removed the hair faster and covered a larger area. The fact that it holds the beard hairs inside the shaver is a huge bonus. (No more cleaning the sink after I'm done!) It comes with a cord which I thought would be in the way but surprisingly, the cord was long enough so it wasn't a problem. I like that my skin didn't feel rough or irritated when I was done. Having a smooth, close shave like I'm used is great. No stubble or unshaven areas and it's quiet too. Definitely will be using this from now on and keeping the old blades in the closet!trlmrc

First off, let me say I have a very thick beard and a lot of body hair. I have tested this item on everything above my collar bone. My conclusion is that it will be a great supplement to my grooming supplies but not necessarily a replacement for anything except the flip up trimmer on the back of my electric shaver. The XT3 fits in corners of my beard where others dont, shaves closer than any trimer I own (but not as close as a blade) nad holds a charge well. I will keep the XT3 around to trim the shoulder hair that creeps up the back of my neck, to line the top of my beard on my cheeckbones, trim the fuzzies off the outside of my ears and the thicker hair coming from the inside of my ear. 100% would recommend for a guy with a hairy face, just dont expect it to do everything (nothing can).Chalupaboy

The simplest way to measure the quality of a razor is the closeness of the shave. The Braun Series XT3 – Beard Trimmer, Shaver, Electric Razor for Men, XT3000 provides a close, smooth shave in a small, light weight package. I hate shaving, but the Braun Series XT3 makes shaving hassle free for me. It cut through my 5 o’clock shadow easily. My face was smooth and didn’t have any stubble. I recently thought i would give the Braun XT3 beard trimmer,shaver, Electric Razor a try. I have tried others beard trimmers in the past and i must say this is a Absolute winner in my book. It trims really close and precise almost like a actual razor. A plus is its rechargable and easy to clean along with the trimming guides that are just what a man needs when trimming a mustace and beard. I have used Braun electric shavers daily for the last 25 years and Remingtons before that. My Braun Series 7 sideburn trimmer broke this past week when I replaced the head so I was able to compare the two head to head. Braun 7 with a new foil head versus Series 9 Pro. The 9 Pro was a major improvement to the already fine Series 7 with a new head. I was amazed at the major difference of closeness of the shave and how efficient it was in requiring fewer passes to get a close shave. The shave with the Series 9 Pro was every bit as close as shaving with my Merzur safety razor. The new head design design on the Series 9 is clearly better plus there is a new feature that works really well. The head can be locked in a fixed position or used in in a pivoting position. The instructions recommend the fixed head position for your neck and cheeks. While the pivoting head works well under your nose and on your chin. The pop up sideburn trimmer has been relocated to the rear of the shaver which is a much better location than on the front of the shaver. The new charging case is wonderful for traveling on extended trips. I am amazed at the dramatic improvement of the Braun Series 9 Pro over my previous Braun Series 7. The shaver is a beautiful example of high quality German Design, German Engineering, and German manufacturing. Yes it is made in Germany which I much prefer over Chinese mediocre manufacturing. I bought the Series 9 Pro 9465 though I was skeptical. I have always used a Phillips Norelco triple headed rotary shaver because I believed that it was the only thing short of a blade that could give me a clean shave with all the crazy directions my beard grows. The quality of the blades on my Norelco shavers have degraded badly over the years and I find myself grinding the razor against my face for 10 minutes trying to get a reasonable shave and having razor burn afterward. I also don't shave every day anymore and every day past day 1 I go, the worse the shaving experience got. This shaver is amazing! If I shave every day it takes me about 90 second to get a MUCH closer shave than my old shaver, and I even 3 days to test it out and after 3 days the save was just as close and only required a little more effort. I never believed a foil shave could work for me but I'm convinced now. The skin on my face is much happier, and I am too. Pros: Really close shave with minimal effort Very quick to get to that close shave Nice design and fits well in my hand Impressive cleaning/charging station (yet to really test it out) Cons: Its not loud but the sound is high pitched compared to my old shaver and a little uncomfortable VERY pricey, I hope its wicked durable like my Norelcos which each lasted over a decade with just blade replacements Not sure I would spend the extra $100 on the base station if I had the chance to buy it againScoR

Quick assessment: Hefty feel that provides a very close shave, but does take longer to cut every hair with more noise and vibration than other electric shavers. Pros: Extremely high quality and hefty feel. The razor feels “premium” and I doubt it will break or have any quality issues for a long time. I love the attention that was put into the quality. This razor also shaves closer than any other electric razor I’ve tried before. If you are focused on the end result of super smooth skin post shaving, this is a great razor. The shaving head pivots to meet the contour of your face, and glides easily. I did not experience any roughness, scratchiness or other concerns – the razor heads glide smooth without irritation. Cons: Noise and vibration. As this design is a “side-to-side” trimmer, there is a lot more noise and vibration in the trimmer action than I am used to. It is not a defect, just something to be aware. It wasn’t a problem for me most weekends, but during the weekdays it did wake up my wife as I was getting ready for work. Also, while the razor is Li-Ion and can be used cordlessly most of the time, I found it unfortunate that razor does not work WHILE PLUGGED IN as well. I would be worried about forgetting to charge it and then being stuck unable to shave in the morning while waiting for enough charge to get going. Not a huge issue either, but also something to be aware of. Final con I noticed was just the time it takes to properly shave. Very close comfortable shave. This is actually a closer shave than a traditional razor. The ability to use the system in the shower is a big plus. I oil the system once per week and clean using shower water after each shave. Used the clean and charge system twice so far (one time per week). Allegedly, it will disinfect and lubricate the shaver head. It appears to be working well. However, the C&C system does require replacement "cartridges" which may get costly. There are alternative "systems" on YouTube and merchants which offer less costly alternatives.bradly973

I bought this barely used, it was just like new, just wanted to clarify. I've used electric shavers in the past but could never find one that would shave close enough or would leave razor burn. This one ( series 7 893s) is a total enjoyment to use. Fits the hand really good and easy to operate. I use it on my face and head and it does a great job! It doesn't cut quite as short as a good double or triple blade but it is a lot easier and faster. Would I recommend it to family and friends? Hell yes I would!! So if you're not sure about an electric shaver and on the fence, try this one, I don't believe you'll be disappointed. If you've never used an electric shaver before, give it a month to get your technique down, then you'll be there. I know these series 7 shavers are a bit expensive, but worth the money. My new Braun Series 7 appears to be a well built and fairly quiet shaver. Problem with all electric razors is that performance is based on a three day beard growth where there is more hair for the razor to grab onto. In reality performance should be based on a one day hair growth where there is less hair to grab onto. The Braun seems to perform a little better than the Panasonic which I previously used. It is still somewhat a challenge to easily cut the chin a neck areas and this is accomplished after many repeat strokes of the razor. Two other observations I find washing my face and using an electric razor solution prior to the cut, makes it easier to shave. Secondly, cleaning the shaver head appears to be easier than with many of the other shavers that I have used.edbet3150

I own two other Norelco shavers, a two year old S7940 and a twelve year old 9160 XL. Both of these were the top-of-the-line model when purchased and have given me flawless service. See my photo comparisons of these three shavers. Norelco currently offers two core designs in its shavers. The more expensive 5000/7000/9000 series are slimmer and have a “mushroom” head which sit above the body of the shaver and thus have more flexibility to conform to your face. The other design is seen in the more basic and economical 1000/2000/3000 series which have a flatter head design. Like all Norelco shavers the S3134 is elegantly styled and very ergonomic. It is a nice combination of steel blue and black. It is lightweight, but feels substantial in your hand. This is my second Norelco electric shaver that I have owned in the last 3 years and there is a considerable improvement from my old one. Let's start with the charging time. All you need is 1 hour of charging time for 60 minutes of shaving time. I easily get 3 good shaves out of 1 charge! The shaver also comes with a nice little charge indicator to let you know how much juice the shaver has left. The next thing you will notice is how easy it is to grip this Norelco. The stem is wrapped with a nice anti-slip rubber that makes handling much easier. Once you are ready to start shaving, I really like how I have the option of either having a dry or wet shave. If I am needing a quick clean up, then I go dry, but if I want a closer shave, I always use shaving foam. I have really sensitive skin, so I really appreciate the pivot and flex heads on this Philips Norelco. Not only do they provide a clean shave, but it doesn't irritate my face. I really like how well it shaves my face and neck, but the only reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because doesn't do that good of a job right underneath my jaw line. Another plus of this Norelco, is how easy it is to clean it. All you have to do is flip open the shaver head and rinse with water. On the back side of the shaver you will find the pop up trimmer, which is usefull, but it takes a while to get used to using on your sideburns, as I found it a little awkward to handle on my face. I figured I would try this out because I want something convenient and economical. In-grown hairs drive me crazy and this shaver is supposed to help. They say it takes about three weeks to see the effects of using the new shaver. So far, I feel like it is improving a lot of my facial hair, but some stragglers are being stubborn and don’t want to change (at least yet). Each day, the shaver does an amazing job on the majority of my hair. However, it does not seem to be able to lift up hairs laying completely flat against my skin. No matter how many times I go over them and no matter what angle, those hairs get missed. I have to go back and touch up with a regular razor, which gets them without a problem. The hope is after a few more weeks of “training” the stubborn hairs, the beard as a whole will grow in the appropriate direction for the shaver. For longer hair like sideburn touch ups, there is a pop-up trimmer ready to keep them looking good in between haircuts. Having a straight trimmer for them is so much easier than using a razor or scissors. The shaver itself is simple to use. The battery lasts one hour and takes one hour to charge. I have not needed to charge it yet because shaving with it is fast. Cleanup is simple! One push of a button flips the blades up for easy rinsing and drying. The fact that this is suitable for wet or dry is huge for me! I prefer a wet shave and, even if someone likes a dry shave, it just makes life easier knowing this thing can get wet. Overall, I am happy with this shaver. It is the first electric shaver I have had in about twenty years, and they have come a long way. When I was introduced to shaving, I tried my Dad's Sunbeam, Remington foil and a DE analog. I ended up doing the DE and got tired of nicks and cuts and skin irritation. in 1972, I started an almost 50 year relationship with Norelco "rotary" products. I went as high as $200+ in that line and it seems they have plateaued as far as technology advances are concerned. I was fed up with the poor quality of replacement blades available today, so I began a search for a replacement shaver. After reading numerous reviews, mostly pro, I decided to give the Arc5 a shot. All I can say is if you find yourself in my spot, do not hesitate. Get this shaver with the cleaning/charging unit, STAT! PROS: The closest shave I've gotten, next to a razor, EVER. Did NOT irritate my skin (I have sensitive skin) Larger head > shorter shave time Flex head follows your facial contours (jaw line, neck, etc.) Beard "sensor" adjusts to your beard's current length. Trimmer does a good job. Shaver has a "built-in" cleaning function, which you can use if you're travelling, or in between "tank" cleanings. Head size and shaving method delivers a faster shave. The cleaning/charging base has a "Dry/charge" function. CONS: Price of replacement heads and cleaning solution concentrate. I got this in anticipation of my upcoming birthday (thank you, honey!) and read the manual. I HAD to check the unit out, so I put some pre-shave lotion on and charged the shaver. Some people complain about the size of the shaver. It really is comparable to the Norelco I was using, but the shape of the head is what speeds your shave along. (It covers more territory). Since there is usually a break-in time for new shaving methods, I expect my shaves to improve over the next week. I used primarily an up and down motion on my face, then I changed direction and orientation on my chin and neck. One complaint I avoided is on my upper lip I have a moustache, so I didn't have a problem with trying to get a close shave there. After finishing and evaluating the shave quality, I took the head off, and rinsed it and the shaver under the tap. Then, I wiped excess water off both and reassembled the unit and dropped it into the cleaning/charging base and put it on dry. I haven't used the cleaning function of the tank yet, but will update my review after I've done so. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this razor. after a month using every other day I havent experienced any of the negatives I read about. I use it on my head and neck below my beard. I found if I use it every other day or 3rd day on my head it shaves easy and as smooth as a razor. Like all electric razors it does not do well with long hair. the only draw back i have is the razor head is large. Which helps speed up the process doing my whole head but little difficult around the top of my ear to sideburn section. I still think its best razor I have ever used in 20 years though. The charging/cleaning station is so nice. Yea it can be a little loud on the cleaning portion but its the razor turning on and off so what's the difference when you use it? Travel case and option to still sharge it with just the cord is well thought out. Mean I dont have to lug the station with me when I go away for a week. But after 20 use Im still at 80 to 85 percent So i likely wouldnt need to charge it anyway.Abult

I was very hesitant to try an electric razor, considering my beard is full and thick and grows quickly. I had been using a DE razor and wet shaving for the last few years. I tired of the time and blood. I researched the closest cutting electric razor sand this one seemed to be among the best. Turns out that I like it even more than I had hoped. It shaves close and quickly. It allows me to shave daily or go 3 days and handles both situations with comfort. Been using for about a month and I will never go back to blades and cream and the hassle. If I'm careful and focused this razor is basically as close a blade. A solid shave takes under 4 minutes and I experience no issues at all even with somewhat sensitive skin. If you're considering an electric razor, I'd start right here. I've had this razor for a few years now. Prior to that, I had the Braun PocketGo (same razor, different color/name). I also have a more expensive top-of-the-line Braun electric razor, too. But … if I had to chose only one electric razor, it would be this "cheap" little mobile shaver. It simply is a great product, gives a great shave (for an electric razor), and won't break the bank. I like the fact that it uses BATTERIES (two AA-size batteries) rather than a rechargeable battery. It makes it more mobile. I keep one of these in my vehicle, and the other in my briefcase. I actually prefer using a DE safety razor, but that takes more time to use (prep and shave). So, if I'm in a hurry or just want easy, then my Braun MobileShaver is the winner. A good shaver to keep in the car. I've had 3 or 4 other travel razors, and this is by far the best. It's large enough to handle easily, most are too small. The "Tac" shaver that Wal Mart sells is an example of too small. I recently bought one of those, and threw it away after a few weeks. I decided to try this shaver after reading the reviews and was really impressed by its performance. Although battery powered and small enough to put in your pocket this shaver gets the job done. Gets me a close shave that is very smooth…I do have to pass back and forth a few times but it really does a clean job. It also is waterproof and can be used in the shower and tub if you're the type who likes to shave while bathing. Comes with a small detachable brush for hair removal. I love the protective switch to prevent from accidental turn ons and running down your batteries if you are traveling with it. This would be great for your glove compartment in the car or even the console for a quick touch up. This razor packs a punch…you won't be disappointed.TreNorth
