Both sinks in my kids bathroom were clogged. 1 had orbeez in the drain and there was standing water in it & the other had kinetic sand in the drain so it drained slow. I poured one side of the solution directly in the drain & I poured the other side of the solution in the standing water. I let both sit for about 30hrs then poured hot boiling water down both drains 2x & they were both clear & water poured down the drain as a normal sink would. I use a drain cleaner 2-3 a year, usually the red bottle, "D". This brand sounded like a good alternative. It was so easy to use, especially because you just empty one of the chambers into the drain and let it do it's thing. I did not use boiling water to rinse. The drain care worked really well and perhaps too well. I had one drain that was a little slow so I used the crystal version of the drain cleaner and it seemed to do a great job of cleaning the gunk off the inside of the pipe since something, I suspect the gunk, plugged the line. I did snake the line and was able to clear the plug. I first bought this in 1990 when I bought my first house. A lady lived there with long hair and it was thick in the drains. The plumber opened my drains but they were still slow so after that I took his advice and used this stuff. Back then it was called Drain Care and you still see the old blue/red labelled stuff today, thou Zep is changing the name. Follow the directions and make sure you put it down the drain at night or when you are leaving for 8 hours minimum. I've had success with similar products in my bathroom sinks so I was excited to try this product for my garbage disposal. The pod was larger than expected and the process was easy. The foam cam up through my other sink and the lemen scent was pretty mild. I couldn't really see a huge change in anything but I think the benefits of this product are deeper in the pipes. I live in an older house and one of the bigger issues in my house is when my sink backs up in the kitchen it’s tends to back up into my basement making a huge mess so I need to make sure that my kitchen sink drain is clean and clear so these seemed like an easy way to help keep up with that and I have to say it’s does a good job of leaving my sink drain smelling clean and I haven’t seen any food build up. Using these are super easy and the directions are easy to follow and take less than 5 minutes and added it to my weekly kitchen cleaning routine. These are surprisingly small, the size of a basic dishwashing pod, but the smell is a nice strong clean lemon scent that definitely covers any gross smells that might build up in your sink. When I used these I did not get it to foam like it saids it suppose to in the direction but after shining a light down my drain it looks clear and again my sink smells very fresh and haven’t had any backup in the kitchen or basement drain in goes down so to me it means it’s doing what it’s suppose to do. Honestly alone the fresh smelling sink is enough for me but I definitely think it’s help keep my drains clear from build up so I would definitely recommend getting these to add to your cleaning routine.Ally91

You need to start with a dry sink or tub for this to work since you need to pour on really hot water to activate. Thrift is lye in pebble form. Thrift was almost solely and still is primarily available in plumbing supply shops. There is a reason for that. This stuff works! Water must be flowing so handle it before it is 100% clogged. Be sure to heat the pipes and it's better to use boiled water to pour in after you put it in the drain. The hotter the water the better it works, but hot tap water will work also. It will not eat the pipes like sulfuric acid. So far so good. I will update should it become necessary. However, being a very skeptical person. I admit I wasn't sure this would help but I tried so many other products that failed. I needed to give it a go. Everything we tried before would help somewhat but just for a few days and we would be back to square one with slow moving drains in the upstairs sink and tub. I had to siphon the green gobbler out of sink into a bucket and use a shop vac to remove drain line. I followed the instructions exactly!! I used 1 packet because I noticed my tub drain slowing; not clogged. About halfway through the wait time I could smell scent of “rotten eggs” wafting into my bedroom. I flushed drain immediately with extremely hot water and let tub run on hot for 30 minutes. Nothing could stop the smell. I kept flushing water down tub drain for additional 30 minutes. Finally I poured baking soda down drain and followed up with vinegar just to help freshen drain and hopefully squelch smell. It’s been 4 hours of all doors/windows open, fans gunning, and it’s finally starting to dissipate. Did it work? Maybe; don’t care now. Not using again. I read some reviews who had success with this drain unclogger so I decided to try it. My kitchen sink has a tough clog so I specifically followed the package directions but, the drain is still clogged. However, this stuff discolored the inside of the sink drain. I also used it in my bathroom sink, which has a drain mechanism that closes by pushing down on the lever on the faucet if you want to fill the sink with water. This product took the color off the drain mechanism, which was a deep bronze color but, now it is a brass color. They claim that this product is safe for pipes but, what it did to my sinks makes me wonder how safe it really is. I used several drain cleaners throughout the years and none of them ever caused any damage! I am returning this product and I will contact the company directly.Tira12

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I purchased Drano max gel clog remover. It says that it is guaranteed to clear packages. I use this on a slow drain that had hair in it. I followed the directions and used approximately half the bottle and waited and then rinsed with hot water. The drain does seem to be running faster now, but I might use the rest of the bottle to clear anything else out. It's a thick liquid with a strong smell so make sure there is ample ventilation. I would purchase this product again.

The instructions on how to use the Drano are very simple and easy to follow. I poured the Drano in my kitchen sink to get the greasy buildup and food pieces out. I let it sit and then poured the hot water down the drain and I noticed the water went down a lot faster than before. I highly recommend this product for a quick and easy fix. The only thing I don't like is the chemical smell it gives off while it's sitting in the drain. Wish they had fresh scent fragrances. But I would definitely recommend to a friend! My bathroom sink drain was VERY slow. My husband's identical drain works great. I used a whole jug (80 oz.) of Drano Max Gel, in 3 installments, waiting each time before "flushing" with hot water. When I turned on the hot water, with the drain open, it quickly accumulated to a depth of about 2 inches, and when I turned off the water, it took 25 or 30 seconds to drain. Not much different from before I used the Drano. Not impressed. The jug said to come to www.drano.com for the details on "Guaranteed or it's free," but I couldn't find any such details. My advice is to try a different brand.
