I heard other reviews and videos rave about this mousse and had to try it. I have to say, they are right. I have fine texture, low porosity natural hair. My hair is short, but when stretched the back comes to my collar bone and the front comes to the end of my nose (to give you a reference). I get good definition using a gel, but this product really defined my hair, and I had more body. Body is a problem for those of us with fine hair. My curls lasted 4 days, especially in the top which is longer. My hair is shorter on the sides and since I sleep on my side the definition fades sooner. I still had a little definition on my sides day 4, but the top still had curls. The first time I used it I only used a moisturizing deep conditioner and the mousse. It did great defining my curls, but left my hair very dry. The next time I used a moisturizing deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, a moisturizing gel, and a sealing oil with the mousse. Sounds like a lot, but this is the process I have to use every wash day to keep my hair moisturized for 3 days. I did not have any problems with dry hair at all this time. I didn't get a chance to use it for a long period of time to see the overall quality. The bottle untwisted just enough while under my sink and spilled. Luckily I had it in a container. The bottle easily untwist. You should keep the product right side up and make sure it doesn't knock over. Unfortunately it's the bottle quality that keeps me from buying this again. The hold is not there and my hair is low porosity type 2b hair and i did not find it reducing frizz either. I pair this mousse with the Curl Enhancing Smoothie from the same product line and they work really well together! I section my hair and evenly distribute the Smoothie, then I use this Mousse to focus on my ends. Finally blowdry with a diffuser attachment. When I use both products together my curls clump together nicely and my ends stay frizz-free. I can also use the Mousse on its own for a more natural/less defined curl. I honestly…love any type of mousse that can help my hair have more volume. This is one of those. I had gotten this mousse on sale at my local Walgreens with a coupon. So when I did try it out for the first time…I couldn't believe how little of product I used on my hair…and it still turned out fabulous…and side note: I have long hair…and I actually use just a little mousse combined with the hairspray …man..I couldn't believe how the outcome of my hair was…it was awesome!! ❤❤ my wavy curls lasted all day!!! I really love this product and a lot less expensive than Aquage root lift. Shake really well, hold the can upside down and apply directly to parted hair at scalp only. This works as well as any, and better than most. I definitely get volume from it, though I'm always looking for more, and it doesn't leave my hair full of static as many mousses do. My hair is very thick and very straight, so it has to work pretty hard to provide some lif, but does so without being stiff or stickyt. It also lasts a long time in the can, which I think is a big plus, as other pretty good mousses often turn to useless liquid, no longer foam, before the can is empty. I hate that. With 3b curls that are dry, coarse, long, tangly and graying…I've been struggling lately. I want so badly to keep my hair long and grow it longer than I've ever had the patience to. I purchased this Ouidad VitalCurl mousse today (last one on the shelf!), because I was desperately trying to just get my hair to look good. I got home with my new product and hit the shower right away. After washing/conditioning I put a bit of my previously purchased Ouidad VitalCurl Tress Effects Gel in my palm and added a a nice dollop of this mousse on top and mixed it together until no foam remained and I was left with a wonderfully slippery gel-consistency. I repeated the process once more to make sure I coated everything. I used an Olivia Garden brush to distribute the product and let it dry naturally. It didn't take as long to fully dry as when I use my gel with other hair creams and my hair had a cast that was so perfect it still looked wet when it was fully dry. I was so happy with the results that I feel like I can let this unruly mom keep on growing. At least my ponytail would look good and not a frizzy mess like it usually does. This is THE one product from Ouidad that I feel I can't do without. Granted, I haven't used it by itself but when a curly girl finds her perfect recipe, it's a challenge to stray from it for fear of ruining the outcome. As a side note, I have used the gel mentioned above by itself and I loved the curl formation, however, it's a very foamy gel once I start applying it and it makes a squooshing noise and turns white. I have long, fine hair with below-average thickness (not thin, but definitely not thick). I have been getting American Waves (a chemical process similar to a perm) for six months, which gives me a 2A/2B very loose waves. (My natural texture is "bendy", a mix of type 1 and 2A.) This is one of many products I have tried for air-dry styling*. I have used medium-hold gels, salt sprays, mousses, and air-dry creams. This is my favorite product so far for Day 1 results, but doesn't perform as well on Day 2+. What I like: – Like other Moroccanoil products, the smell is amazing and not too strong. – Very rich thick foam (definitely feels like a luxe product) – Gives nice definition and volume on Day 1 – Lightly moisturizing and doesn't weigh my hair down – Not sticky at all What I don't like: – It's pricey – On Day 2+, my hair looked "mussed". I still had good definition, but my whole head had more of a frizzy/fuzzy "halo" that I get with my favorite products (or no products). That said, I am still inexperienced with wavy styling, so that might be due to my (lack of) refresh technique. I am going to experiment with that, and see if I get better results. * I have found that my wash technique has a bigger impact on my results than the styling product I use. I wash with Kenra volumizing shampoo and scrunch in their conditioner, wet plopping in a shower cap before rinsing. Then I dry-plop in a microfiber towel after scrunching in a styling product (or not). After air drying, I zhuzh the roots for volume. Different products can improve the definition and volume, but this routine seems to be what makes or breaks the shape, spring, and clumpiness of the waves.Jessica

I love that this product helps to hold my natural waves and it is so weightless, you use a lot and it never does with a crunchy feeling. Typically when I let my hair air dry, it does with a very inconsistent wave and very frizzy. I highly recommend and give it 5 stars without a doubt. For best coverage apply with a wide tooth comb or a brush. Once it dries, you can run your fingers through it and it's left feeling soft! If you see any little pieces setting quickly and frosting just wet and out a little more on that piece. On day two, just a little water and maybe a little more mouse, scrunch and it still looks great. Pictures show fully saturated after applying and what it looks like 12hrs later. This mousse is INCREDIBLE!!! When you first apply it can feel drying and a bit sticky, but once it dries you can scrunch out the crunch and it leaves you with soft, defined, and decently held waves/curls. I found that this is THE BEST product I have ever used for air drying my hair. It comes out soft, not stringy or crunchy like other mousses. It also hold my curl all day. The next day I just use a spray water bottle, wet my hair, and scrunch in a little more mousse, let it air dry, and my results are just as good as day one. Best second day results I have ever had. I’ve used mousse in my hair for years. My mother got this mousse for herself and gave it to me because her hair is more on the wavy side and didn’t really work for her hair so she thought I should give it a try. I was super excited- it smells great, it has cute packaging. However, once I started applying it to my hair I realized it wasn’t going to work for me either. It made my hair feel instantly dry, it matted up my curls and did not define them and made my skin itch. I decided to give it a couple more tries, putting in different amounts of it and more moisturizing products and still, my hair felt dry and clumpy using this product. I'm a fan of the Bumble and Bumble mouse but it is pretty pricy. I have been giving more low-cost options a try lately and decided to buy this on a whim. It 100% smells like lemon cake. I don't mind that, but I was curious what the whole scent debate was about. When you do start to dispense the product, a lot comes out at once. It is a really light mouse, but it is also kind of thick. For having fine, 3B hair, I was worried. I worked it into my hair and combed it through. My hair was really wet as a note. Then I scrunched it with a microfiber towel and let my hair do its thing. It is really soft and bouncy and is holding its shape without being crunchy. So far so good. I used the prior version for several years on my 2b/2c curls. My hair is fine and I need the hold of a lightweight mousse. I bought this new version without realizing the new nozzle went with a new formulation of the product. It went from a whipped cream consistency to something that looks and feels like the bubbles at the end of your bubble bath. It falls apart immediately and you can't tell how much to use without your hair getting crunchy and weighed down. My hair looks bedraggled. I was hesitant to buy because my fine thin hair doesnt do well with any styling product all over. I was hoping to use it to let me slightly wavy hair dry naturally and maybe they won't be frizzy. But it is too heavy for that. My hair was soft to touch but no longer silky, so not great for leaving your hair natural. However, since it plumps your hair and still leaves it soft, its best for when you are going to use a curling iron or waver on it, or do an updo that you want in stay in place and not be crunchy. Works in place of gel. It delivers on volume and hold. But your hair wont move naturally on a loose straight styles.Elizabeth R.
My hair is very naturally straight and in serious need of some volume. I squeeze a little bit of mousse and it give me the perfect lift my roots need. I love this volumizer! The “pump spray button” somewhat broke which was frustrating at first but ended up working in my favor. Now I put a little bit on my hands and rub into my roots making it feel much lighter but still volumized. And you can tell a difference with my fine hair. It’s great! I wanted to like this, but I just don’t. It leaves your hair feeling dirty and crusty the same way a sea salt mousse would. I use mouse in my hair quite often. I like the way gives my hair and curls bounce without stiffness. This one though whether your hair is clean or not, leaves your hair feeling dry, dirty and crusty. It’s supposed to be for dry curly hair. it’s supposed to soften, defined and volumize with a flexible hold. well it doesn’t hold flexibly. actually, after you put it in just makes your hair feel like straw. It smells amazing that much I love. it absolutely smells amazing. But it does not leave your hair feeling soft and it does not define your hair. I love all the other products from this line but this one is the only one that I just don’t like. My first impression is I love the packaging the blue and gold is very pretty. I also like the smell. It’s a really strong coconut scent. So if your not into strong or coconut fragrances I wouldn’t recommend this line of products from Maui Moisture. First I used this mousse first on my daughters tightly coiled hair along with the gel and it worked okay but nothing to rave about it defined the coils and gave a nice shine. The second day however I noticed her hair had so many flakes I had to wash it out. I would say that I will not use this again for her because it has somewhat of a drying effect on naturally coiled hair. When I used it on my hair I didn’t like the way it felt going on. It felt kinda stiff and drying so I didn’t use on my full head. I would not recommend to for thick coiled or tightly curled natural hair.kristina.b

I had ditched mousse for over a decade, but gave this a try and I’m using it every time I wash my hair now! I have very fine hair prone to frizz, but also thick, long, and curly. This is the first product that accentuates my curls and tames frizz efficiently while volumizing the crap out of it at the same time. I’m obsessed! A small amount is all that is needed and even the one time I put too much in a section it didn’t get crunchy, it was easy to work out and smooth to correct. Absolute Volume Goals! I have thick, wavy hair that I blow-dry straight and this plumping mousse gives my hair the best root volume for days. My thick hair is heavy and many other "root boosting" products fall flat for me. This is now a staple in my hair styling routine. I have been spraying this on my hair every day before I walk out the door. It is a very lightweight hairspray and the hold is perfect for my needs. What I most love about this product is that it keeps my hair safe from frizz throughout the day. I have found that if I spray too much it sometimes leaves a slight white residue on my hair but this doesn’t happen very often and it’s not very noticeable. While a bit annoying, the benefits outweigh the cons for me, as long as I don’t go overboard on any particular section my hair stays almost completely frizz free throughout the day, regardless of humidity!araceli.r
I received this sample from Influenster for my honest review. To begin, my hair is type 1 and slightly on the dry side. It thin to medium, unprocessed and is fairly silky. For me, this worked okay, not great (although I’m not one to style my hair often). It has a decent hold and decent humidity resistance. The crunch is expected for a firm hold so I did not mind it as long as it held my hair in place. For an average day, it held my hair for a few hours (not all day). The smell is good, but I have a sensitive nose so the smell does linger on for quite a bit which I don’t particularly enjoy. One concern I do have is that I noticed a bit of a white residue on my hair with this. I should mention, however, that my sister tried it and said she liked it and that it held her hair well. Her hair is denser and thicker than mine and closer to type 2A.padmaja.j
I received this complementary in exchange for my review thanks to Influenster and Biolage! I will start by saying that I deducted a star because it says this is a humidity-resistant hairspray and I was super excited about that element of this product but I didn't notice any humidity protection. Now onto the things I like about this hairspray… this hairspray REALLY dries fast, like almost instantly and I like that a lot. This hairspray also holds my hairstyle extremely well and for the whole day. The thing I love most about this hairspray is that it provides so much volume to my hair! I just did like the bottle said and lifted my hair and sprayed close to my roots. I've used a couple of different volumizing hair sprays but this one provided the best results, it just didn't last because the humidity flattened my hair and curls. If you don't like scents, you may not like this. It has a hairspray smell mixed with a slight floral type of smell. I like it, it smells better than other hairsprays to me. I found it pretty hard to wash this hairspray out of my hair, which is a good thing because it probably holds up well in the rain. Even though I deducted a star I'd still recommend this because it's a great hairspray, I love the volume it added to my hair!

When I am going to use a mousse, I always have some expectation of a certain “feeling” in terms of the texture of my hair. The reviews that state that it is difficult to run your fingers through are true… it is… but it feels more like strong hold hair spray. In areas I put too much, it is stiffer but if I did it lightly and directly on my roots, it does not feel that way. I have fine hair for reference. Now the important part and the reason I purchased the product…volume. I have SO MUCH volume. Even when I flatten my hair and then try to “fluff” it up again, it’s so voluminous.

I'm really tired of mousse that are too strong or sticky. This mousse is GREAT and no sticky feel. It really does a great job giving my hair lift. I have layered, color treated shoulder length hair. Sometimes I style it straight, sometimes in a natural wave. This works well either way. And did I say, no sticky feel??!Mature and still wearing makeup!
I bought this mousse looking for a little more lift with my blowouts and unfortunately I ended up returning it. I added some volume and thickness to my hair for sure but I hated how it made my hair feel! So weighed down and almost like I couldnt get a brush through it! I was happy to wash it out at the end of the day. Might be ok for some people but wasn't great for my realtively oily, shoulder length hair!spatton
