I naturally have straight, fine hair. Every once in a while, I'll get a thickening product to help me change up my look. I've been using this the past few weeks and I can say there is a noticeable difference. Is it a miracle product that gives long luscious George of the jungle hate, no. But I use it fur when I want to style my hair in a more natural way. This does give me the extra volume needed. I pair it with the thickening pomade and they work great together. I received this sample of Jack Black Beard Lube from Sephora and gave it to my Dad to try out. I'd like to preface this review by stating that my Dad is very much set in his ways and particular about his shaving regimen. For 40 years, he's used the same shaving cream. About 12 years ago (thanks to me), he added a balm that he uses after shaving with his cream to achieve an even closer shave, when necessary – generally, whenever his blade is on its 3rd or 4th use. He shaves his entire beard and sideburns – maintains a full mustache. He shaves daily and is not prone to irritation. Big Pro: He was impressed that the Beard Lube eliminated the need to use the balm to achieve a closer shave; his blade was on its 4th use and the Lube still gave him the perfect shave. He also appreciated how well the Lube softened his coarser hairs pre-shave. Cons: (1) He said it felt greasy upon application – his face did not have the 'clean' feel that his shave cream provides. (2) The Lube left his face oily post shave, so much so that he felt the need to remove excess oils with a warm cloth. This Lube contains oils for conditioning so that makes sense – but oil on the face is not something my Dad is used to and he did not like it at all. He also felt the need to use his regular Balm to give his face the after-shave feel he likes (I guess that fresh tingly sensation scent). (3) The translucency of the Lube made it difficult to see what areas of the face had already been shaven (funny because the translucency is supposed to help you see where you are shaving to avoid mishaps – but he didn't see it that way). Overall, he very much enjoyed the result of the close shave and would purchase the travel size to use while on vacation because it eliminates the need of second shave with his balm (less to pack / carry). He also said it would be handy while on-the-go to take care of a 5 o'clock shadow if there was an event after work. He also likes that he can get longer use out of his blades without sacrificing a close shave or risking potential nics due to a dulling blade — which would save money. For daily shaving, he intends to stick with his 2-step cream balm regimen but he would highly recommend the Beard Lube to men with sensitive skin that becomes irritated from razor shaving. I'm thinking the Jack Black 'Cushioning Shave Lather' may be a better option for some like my father…tiffany michele.r

I love Jack Black products and use way to many of them! I saw someone else mention travel sizes and you responded that there is a 3oz tube. I travel almost every week for 1 to 2 nights and I am carry on only. This means that I am limited to one ziploc bag so fitting all the JB products I use, plus the rest, even in a 3oz size is simply not possible. I also try to reduce my plastic usage wherever possible, so while I kind of live off the samples (and often time orders to so I can get larger samples of things I use anyway, I hate doing that. Ideally you would have smaller, refillable containers that could be used for a variety of different products. I would actually pay good money for that. I've tried using old contact lens cases but that's not ideal because I think too much air gets in and the product degrades.Joshua

Excellent product! Great body lotion part of my daily routine. I usually lather it in after a shower. The lotion absorbs to the skin fast and ideal for moisturizing my skin. It does a better job than others probably because of the ingredients with eucalyptus and aloe. The lotion leaves my skin feeling soft smooth and nourishing sensation. I have a lot of hair, my scalp is quite dry after i wash it, but then gets a build up of grease and oils over the course of the day and starts to smell. I wash my hair daily and was conscious that i may have overwashed my hair to date, causing my skin to increase the production of oils to stop my scalp from drying out – this shampoo was to be my saviour. The team at Aveda were ready to help me refund or exchange it for another item and I was good to proceed – until that is, my wife (who's INVATI products had run out and was using this) told me how well it was working for her. In response, they also made their Men's shampoos a lot more harsh, and the conditioners way too heavy. As for the shampoo itself, I bought it for my husband! I used to work in a hair care company so I know something about the shampoo formula. I found Brickell by chance last November and took a shot on their sample pack. I really loved all of the products. They seem to work great and they smell amazing too. As with most products from brickell, I don’t prefer the smell. Their scented and unscented products don’t smell great for me, and I have lots of them now. They all do work fantastic, however. The shampoo my be my least favorite of the products I own if only because of the scent and dryness it leaves my scalp with. The conditioner in the other hand is a great product and I use it on my beard at times too. All the face products are great. The face lotion works really well for my dry skin and is what sold me on their products to be honest. I have the unscented and although it’s better smelling than the scented one- which is too lemony to me, it has a bit of an odd smell to it. The face scrub is also a great product.Cody L.

I wanted to love this shampoo so bad but I haven’t noticed any difference in hair growth the only difference I’ve noticed between this and past shampoos that I’ve used is that when I’m washing my hair a have noticed A LOT of hair on my hand after washing my head. I don’t think that’s a good sign in my opinion. With past shampoos I would notice like 3 hairs on my hand after washing but with this one I’ve seen up to 20 hairs which is a lot more than 3. The Dove Men+Care 2in1 shampoo is a great product. Its enriched with calcium and caffeine. It has alot of added benefits for healthy, shiny and clean hair.I have noticed my hair does look thicker and healthier as well. I like the idea of all the benefits being in 1 bottle.The only con I have is the smell. Its a little over powering for more sensitive noses, but other than that I have no complaints. At first, with the first 3-5 uses, I thought I'd stumbled upon something great for my already thinning hair. The appearance of my hair actually seemed better with the way it was lying on my head. The Shampoo/condituoner works pretty good for me, but I gotta use it twice to get the results I want bur that's with most shampoo and conditioner I used before I jisy wish this had more of the scent to it, as like the body wash when u put some of that on a wash clothe or a scrubbie puff and start to use it the scent fills the bathroom, and is wonderful! Axe Hair Total Fresh Clean All Over is really great as a body wash & not so great at shampooing and conditioning. I tried it after my hubby's trial run and we both would not use on our hair again, but we are still using as a body wash. Possibly too harsh for our fine hair, I'm unsure. Honestly I can't rave about this product enough. My dad, ex, and husband all use and love this product. It's refreshing, it smells nice, it leaves your hair clean. My go to shampoo and the one I consistently repurchase. Comparable in quality to $20 shampoos from more niche hair care companies but at a lower price. All natural, sulfate and paraben free so it does not lather, but cleans very well regardless. The small bottle lasts pretty long too. I was confused when I received the bottle, and it didn't read "DHT Blocker" on the label. However, the new updated label says "blocker"; the old one (as shown in my photo) doesn't. Still, this shampoo does NOT contain DHT in the ingredients. I went to their website and did a little digging, and that is what I discovered. Hopefully this helps clear the confusion for others. I'll start off by saying that this could possibly be a 5star product. I'm a 50 year old guy and am fairly active and in average shape. About 6 months ago, I started to really notice my hair thinning on the crown and hairline receding. I decided to take action and started researching various natural approaches. So I came up with a plan with 4 parts. I started taking 20-25 grams of Collagen Daily and supplementing with Biotin and Saw Palmetto. The fourth part of the plan was to try the Shiny Leaf DHT shampoo and conditioner. The great news is that it has had a marked improvement in my hair and has definitely started to regrow hair that I thought was long gone. In fact, my hairline is growing back in where it was in my late 20's and early 30's. I'm truly blown away by the results. The not so great news is that I implemented all 4 parts of my plan at once and so I have no way of knowing which parts made the biggest impact or if it really was the combination of them all that worked so well. At this point, my feeling is that it's working very well and I'm not going to change anything. I will say that my suspicion is that the Collagen is the star component of my 4 part plan because I noticed very quickly (like 1 week or so) that my muscles and joints felt great. Sort of like WD-40 for your knees. Really cool! I do believe this shampoo and conditioner contributed to my overall success but it is a topical application which I'm not sure is as effective as the other 3 parts which were all ingestible.Chris D.

I have received both the DHT shampoo, and Biotin conditioner. These products work very well together. The shampoo leaves my hair looking and feeling very clean and shiny, and my scalp feeling light and uncluttered. I seem to be seeing less hairs in the drain so far and will continue to use and buy the shampoo. I ordered Watermans double pack of shampoo and conditioner after reading positive reviews online. I was unsure of what to expect as I know certain products work for some people and not others. I received my delivery very quickly and it is very clear that this family run business really care about their products. The shampoo came in a black bottle and the conditioner in a white bottle which makes it very easy to differentiate the products with water in your eyes. The shampoo lathers really well and has feel really soft when washing it out. I feel like a slightly stronger smell would be nice however that wouldn't stop me from repurchasing as I really do see a difference in the condition of my hair. The conditioner is a much thinner consistency and again doesn't really have a strong scent. It sometimes doesn't feel like I have put any on my hair as it is very thin however after leaving it on for a minute or so and washing it out, my hair does feel soft. My hair is slightly dry in summer anyway and Im not sure whether the products particularly helped with that but I do really love these products and would definitely buy again! I can say hand on heart that this product is the best purchase I have made to date, it works and I wish I had bought some years ago!!!
