The Skill (type) Saw would not work when I got the kit so I took it back and HD replaced the defective product immediately and without question (it hadn't actually been used yet so I think that helped). Great tools. Saws all – heavy duty. Skip-saw. Won’t recommend this. Blade on the wrong side of the body. What? Made for s lefty? Drill is good, M18 battery makes it a little unwieldy. I prefer the M12 for this application with a good supply of batteries Impact drill. Worth the price of the kit Grinder. Great tool. Bag – would have preferred something that kept the tools from bumping and grinding. I’ll keep the tools on a shelf and pack what I need – or think I might need. hello so I will start by saying my Mother is one of the first ticketed journeyman carpenter in the world . my father is a award winning carpenter and wrote some of the courses they teach at colleges . I am 40 years old and have been in the trades my hole life . I wanted some good cordless tools . after some research I thought Milwaukie M18 where good tools . I purchased a kit . none of the batteries worked in my first kit . I got a second kit and they are so finicky you have to try three four times to get the battery to charge and not say its defective , every time you want to charge it . if you can get it to even connect right . I feel that this company has 0 quality control . it is ridding off a name it some how got as a good tool company . these tools and batteries are junk . I have lost money and Milwaukee will not even call me back . home depo went above and beyond to replace the kit and help me and make me feel like they cared . Milwaukee well wont even call me back . so I sure do not feel like a valued customer . I will be returning all my tools and never risk buying another Milwaukee product as long as I live .Builder1

I needed an everyday drill. Although there are great cordless ones out there… corded produces assured power. Right now. Every time. For a household drill… this will do it. 5.2 amps is beyond adequate for… yeah. I'll be purchasing the 1/2 hammer drill as well for… yeah. The rest. As far as this product for this price… two thumbs up. I just wish the forward/reverse selector wasn't so… uh… wide. But… there's no way of not knowing which way she'll be spinning. So… this too is a plus. It's not going to be a problem whatsoever. The reviews about the keyless chuck being too tight… ??? It's supposed to be that way. It has to hold the drill bit securely… or… you won't be drilling anything. The chuck keys are designed for leverage… buy a keyed chuck model if hand strength is an issue. The chuck on these drills arrive tight and hard to open. To open the chuck turn it in the direction of the locked padlock icon. The locked padlock icon refers to locking the drill bit not locking the chuck. Other reviewers on Amazon on this drill returned it because they can not open the chuck. This may be the reason these drills can be picked up at great low prices. The drill is powerful with a smooth motor. No need to buy batteries as it is corded.valhallahiker
Years ago I struggled with the decision of whether or not to buy a cordless or corded drill and had bought a cordless. Needless to say the batteries would wear out after only a few holes being drilled and since I didn't need to use it much they eventually stopped taking a charge altogether. I bought this now to replace the old cordless drill and absolutely love it. The keyless chuck is easy to open/close and it fits all my existing drill bits. If I have any complaints it would be that the trigger is not very responsive when trying to drill slowly, but for the price I'm fine with it.LakePJ

I bought the putting mat as a gift. I chose this because the green has the 3 holes instead of just 1. However, the picture, in my opinion, is misleading. It looks as though the holes and the area behind the holes have some sort of material in them – like a plastic cup the ball would go into. In actuality, the holes are just cutouts and the cutouts do not have much depth at all so the ball easily runs out of it. In addition, the photo makes the incline before the holes look like it is more than it is. The incline is very minimal. In my opinion the incline should be slightly steeper (a little more incline) – which would make the hole area thicker and perhaps the ball would not roll out as easy. Love the smaller holes to hone in your putting skills. Felt mat quality is very good , lays flat, and putts true. The green has a shortcoming that can be addressed by adding a barrier behind the green. The elevated area by the holes is good for maintaining putting speed and you can read a little break into the putt by shooting at an angle. The elevated foam area under the holes and traps is very shallow and if you put a little too fast the ball will not drop into the hold/hazzard and roll off the back of the green. I just rolled up a few towels and shaped them around the back of the green and problem solved.rarinker

It cannot in anyway taking place of real putting green, but if you can sink 2/3 putts or 100 per cent of your putts on this mat almost every time I guarantee that you'll do well on the real putting green. At first practices i couldn't even sink any putt on this, but now I can sink putts with ease & it has drastically improved my putting on the link unlike never before. I now can putt with more confidence and knowing that the real green is never flat so have use proper judgement. Have had this drill for a couple of months now and have used it a considerable amount during our recent move into a new home. It has proven more than adequate for everything from drilling metal and wood to ruining stress into studs. Also works well using torque limiting settings for finer work like running screws in to plastic anchors without stripping them. Battery pack has more than enough reserve. Surprisingly powerful and well balanced and the compact size allowed me to use it it tight areas effectively. Great tool for the weekend project do it your selfer! After getting this i went ahead and purchased both the weed eater and leaf blower and am very pleased with both! Same battery pack can be used for all three. We have two of these that have been the primary drills in our high school engineering lab for about 5 years now. I can honestly say their durability has far surpassed my expectations. Even with being used by students that are still learning the proper techniques, these haven't given us any trouble. Battery life is great, and we have used them to drill, screw, buff, and even to drive systems as a test motor! The only complaint I have is that the battery mount can be difficult to operate, and usually has to be done by the stronger kids. This is a newer version, so they may have addressed that issue. If you are looking for a drill that won't let you down, this is a great choice!Jerbs

I have to say, I'm really dissatisfied with this drill. It took twice as long as expected to arrive here, and when it did get here, there was no instruction manual. I went ahead and tried to charge the battery for close to a full day and it never charged. It came with a little charge (maybe this wasn't a new drill since they come uncharged from the factory), so I tried to screw in a test screw – this thing has no power and the Phillips Head attachment seems to be misshapened. (Then it completely died and would not charge.) Basically, I have not one good thing to say about this product. Do not buy. Get something – anything – better. I've used this drill many times before and it always gets the job done. I just bought a new one recently and was suprised to find that it doesn't have speed control that I'm used to. Looking on the Makita website, there is only one model that looks like this one. Did they take away a feature? I looked around forever for a drill. Was a little worried when I purchased this one as it doesn't really advertise that its a variable speed, it is a variable speed drill and is prefect for drilling conduit runs in studs with an auger bit. Also works awesome with a 4 and 1/4 inch hole saw.spokes
It's used to drill holes, of course. Why is it a good buy? Compared to the other oriental manufactured brother this Makita replaces: The other new drill was used several times. Boring through good quality steel requires "some guts". The other drill was smoking going through 3/16ths cold rolled steel, the bit was gouging and digging in, and sticking. This Makita didn't bog down under proper pressure which allows for correct use of cobalt drill bits, in this application. The finished holes were perfect. The variable speed is gradual and smooth. This drill delivers the correct rpm for great control over the job providing for less manhandling of the tool. And the rotating handle is a very nice added feature. Topping that off, CPO's pricing was also a reason this drill was purchased. Nothing comes to mind for what wouldn't be so good about this product. It's well thought out in design and manufactured with the quality and reliability we've come to expect from Makita.Snickers

Greatly admire the clever engineering of how the chuck is attached to the drive: no chance of it backing off or coming loose even after repeatedly switching the direction back and forth; though have yet to discover whether it will back out after getting a 1/2" auger hung up on a 16 penny nail embedded in a 6×6 timber. I have been using this or the earlier versions of this drill in my cabinet shop for more than 20 years. I has very good balance, fits my hand well, transferring the driving weight directly down the shaft enabling me to drive 3 inch screws to pull very heavy cabinets up against the wall. When you need to hold the weight of the cabinet and drive the screw at the same time, you appreciate a balanced powerful driver that is up to the task. I wouldn't buy anything else.R.B.
If you use this for what it's designed for. 5 stars all day. This is a drill, not a Driver. It gets a little tough to use Driving Screws into tight pilot holes, because its got too much power and no clutch so you can't dial it back much. I find that I prefer it to rip through drilling pilot holes, then use my battery powered Hitachi to drive the Screws in. Switching between the two makes jobs 3 or 4 times shorter. That being said, if you don't have a separate driver, you can certainly get by driving screws in with this guy, you just have to be more careful not to strip the head of the screw.S.J.K.

I bought this drill for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing rough in for wood stud walls. It has yet to let me down! It drills through anything I put in front of it without any trouble. I used a lot of different bits from self feed, to auger, to carbide wood hole saws. They all did great. The only things I didn't like about it was the inability to purchase it with a 7/16" quick chuck, and the weight of it. Sometimes if there are alot of holes, it can get tiring. If DeWalt ever comes out with a mid size version of this I would buy it as well in a heartbeat. Overall, for power, it is the best in it's class for right angle "hole shooter" style drill.CCC review
Great, extremely powerful drill. A little on the heavy side, but that's what you get with a quality tool made primarily out of metal. Only down side I've noticed is the speed selector switch is extremely hard to flip. You feel like your going to break it when switching. I actually had to return the first drill I ordered because I couldn't get the switch to budge. Then I got this one and had same issue, so I put more pressure on it than I felt comfortable doing, and it finally switched. Now I can move it, but it's very tough… Not sure if this is a defect or normal (I have seen other people complain about this since I've had my issue). I first purchased the Dewalt Drill with the same power/torque and motor as the 3/8-Inch Heavy-Duty VSR Mid-Handle Drill Kit, but it was a pistol style drill with the handle at one end and all the weight of the motor at the other end. Strong drill but way to heavy at the front end. I spotted the Dewalt 3/8-Inch Heavy-Duty VSR Mid-Handle Drill Kit online on HD's WEB Site and ordered it after having returned the other drill to my local HD store. The Dewalt 3/8-Inch Heavy-Duty VSR Mid-Handle Drill Kit can only be bought online. Anyways, same great drill motor and performance as the first Dewalt Drill but with a mid-handle, the drill is perfectly balanced in the hand and much easier to utilise. Bonus, for a few dollars more, the Dewalt 3/8-Inch Heavy-Duty VSR Mid-Handle Drill Kit comes with a tough hard shell case. Great buy!Denis M
For a corded drill, this drill can't be beat. Very sturdy and made out of very fine materials. Easy to setup, easy to use. I have seen complaints about this model having wobbly chucks but this one is absolutely straight and true whether the bit is small or very large. Trigger is very and sensibly easy to control; goes smoothly from very slow to absolute tops in speed. Not too noisy but really gets up and goes when the work gets tough. Also, very comfortable to hold and use, even in tight quarters or for extended heavy duty work. I don't think that it could ever overheat due to the cooling fan pulling through a tremendous amount of air. An absolutely first class drill that I wish I had bought long ago. Thanks DeWalt and Home Essentials Direct for making this so easily afordable and possible. Update 1/14/2014: Had a few glitches with the chuck acting as if there was something binding it up when opening up and closing down on bits. Could see nothing wrong but the problem persisted and I finally opened up the chuck about half way and put a few drops of Castrol synthetic motor oil into the opening around the edges. Held the end of the chuck in my fingers and slowly ran the drill back and forth with the chuck pointing upward forcing it to close and open its jaws a few times and the problem disappeared. Have used the drill several times since and the chuck is working very smoothly without a hint of the original binding. Just thought this might be useful to someone.O.C.

I bought this set a few days ago, came with an additional tool (I got the oscillating multi tool) the hammer drill broke the first 10 minutes I used it. Still runs it just can’t switch out of hammer setting. I was drilling using masonry bit through concrete slab 16 times for lag bolt installation. Even so the drill feels great in the hand and so does the impact even though I haven’t really used yet. They are sending replacement for the drill now will update if second one has the same issueComing up

First off, I was impressed with the quality. I now wish I would have bought the XL mat instead of standard. I hit the practice green for the first time in many weeks (due to weather). I've had had my Perfect Practice mat for about a month and try to work with it 2-3 times a week. I was pleasantly surprised at how I was leaving my puts consistently within a foot of the hole (if not holing it out). My control felt consistent. I'm hoping it was due to the Perfect Practice mat! There seems to be an imperfection that isn’t easily noticeable to the eye but very noticeable when putting slowly across it. Unfortunately, it isn’t going away and affects the usage on the end with the circle outline. The other end of the mat rolls true but I don’t want to be confined to using only half the mat. I was looking for a putting mirror, after watching a couple videos. (You know you've been there too). I wanted some sort of alignment aid. Well I decided to spend $30 more for this, and I am very happy after a couple weeks. I find the perpendicular lines helpful to make sure my putter face is square to the ball, and the parallel lines are good for club path. The intermediary dots and dashes are good to make sure the ball is truly going on your target line and not just following a "groove". This is slower than my previous AstroTurf mat, but that had some issues and no markings. I play nicer public courses, so the "10" stint meter rating for this is pretty good. (the pros play 12-13). I plan to leave mine out, even tho they said it is best to store it. I also sweep it against the grain of my shot to hopefully prevent any grooves from forming.gssss

The drill arrived in a case both in like new condition. As far as the still is concerned, I am underwhelmed by it's quality and power. I own several other Makita tools and this is the first time I actually have buyers remorse. It lacks power in both drill mode and hammer drill mode. If I had to find something positive to say, it would be the case is nice and the price was right. Bit then again, more often than not, you get what you pay for.

Works great and has pretty much every tool I could need for in my camper. Drill is more powerful than other B&D lower voltage I’ve owned before (of course it’s higher voltage) and these batteries keep their recharge for longer. Bag is great size for storing it all. Only complaint is all the drill accessories in their little holder racks poke your fingers when you’re digging around in the toolbag. Put each accessory in a quart zipper bag to minimize the cuts, but still not quite right. Might look for tiny canvas gizmo bags or tiny plastic boxes to store those loose accessories inside the larger toolbag that came with the setSchaidler
Note all the good reviews on here were from promotions. This stuff is cheap and half of it was off to the landfill after the first few uses. We have to stop by junk from Black and Decker who don’t even stand behind any warranty of their products…. They just direct you on to who manufactured it and wash their hands of you. REALLY light: Only 2.9 OUNCES heavier than the sub-compact drill XFD11ZB. The biggest difference between the two is the clutch selector immediately behind the chuck. The clutch selector on this Hammer Drill XPH11ZB is CLEAR OF THE TRIGGER for a better and easier grip for larger hands. The clutch selector on the Regular Drill XFD11ZB is BLOCKED BY THE TRIGGER. If you're only going to drill with it, the XFD11ZB works well. If you're drilling AND driving, having to change clutch settings often, then this Hammer Drill, XPH11ZB, would be the MORE ERGONOMIC choice.warybyer
Excellent. Roll box friendly. Highly capable and extremely safe. This lil' guy has injured a few people unfamiliar with makita wizardry. There's just no way that your ming is prepared for the amount of torque in asmall package. I travel with this and the sub compactimpact, and though I have the giant 18v hrammer drill at home, I'm never missing it. There only hesitation in use would be if iIwere marathon drilling many, large or super deep voles. In that case, I would use corded anyway. As a note, this drill seems to be designed bto maximize efficiency using high quality, sharp drill bits. Using cheap bits might lead one to believe that this drill underperforms. I assure you, it's the bits and techniques. Using proper steroids and cooking bits, I routinely, and very quickly execute 2-5 holes through up to 1/2" steel. I've not used the hammer drill function, based on the weight of the internal components, I don't suspect it would be sufficient for repeated drilling for larger than 3/8" holes in brick or 5/8" holes in cinder blocksallaction

I bought this drill for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing rough in for wood stud walls. It has yet to let me down! It drills through anything I put in front of it without any trouble. I used a lot of different bits from self feed, to auger, to carbide wood hole saws. They all did great. The only things I didn't like about it was the inability to purchase it with a 7/16" quick chuck, and the weight of it. Sometimes if there are alot of holes, it can get tiring. If DeWalt ever comes out with a mid size version of this I would buy it as well in a heartbeat. Overall, for power, it is the best in it's class for right angle "hole shooter" style drill.CCC review

This is a great product…if you can use it. I could not, since I have no arm strength. I have been trying to put a hole through a concrete wall in my basement for weeks now. But first, this item comes without drill bits. I had to purchase them separately. I have been trying to review this for weeks, but I could not make a decent enough hole in the wall. In fact, I damaged my wall. I refused to take a picture of the mess, instead I will keep trying. I watched several youtube videos and learned how to hold it and drill, but I did not suceed. I know the potential of this product so I will try again. I just have to build my wall back. This is supposed to put neat holes in concrete and wood alike. Black & Decker is known for its fantastic line of power tools that are built to last and the Black and Decker 6.5 AMP 1/2in Hammer Drill is no exception. When this drill arrived, my husband was as excited as a boy in a candy store. He already had a drill, but he said this one is the best one he has ever owned. Since the drill arrived, he has spent plenty of time in his shop (his playroom) drilling holes in just about anything that he comes in contact with. The drill works very well on brick, concrete, masonry and wood. It also drills through metal. This Black and Decker 6.5 AMP 1/2in Hammer Drill has 48000 BPM. It is complete with a side handle to give you extra stability. It has a variable speed switch, a lock-on button, a forward/reverse slider, a drilling mode selector and a keyless chuck. My husband's favorite feature is the depth stop gauge. With that, he is always sure to drill to the right depth. This drill has made my husband very happy. In the distant past, I had a lot of problems with Black + Decker equipment. Things have really changed as exemplified by this excellent hammer drill. This is a good-looking power tool that excels in what it is supposed to do – drill holes in hard material. Of course, this tool is also a regular drill that you would use to drill into wood or metal. But its ability to drill into masonry like a hot knife into butter is the reason to buy this tool. This drill has all the expected features of a corded tool. The chuck is keyless but does not have a clutch – it has a shaft lock button. The chuck has a super strong grip because there are 18 turns from full open to complete close. Hopefully, you don’t need to bounce between a big bit and a tiny one. I ignore the admonition to not turn on the tool to adjust the chuck because everyone does it, especially with 18 turns. The variable speed range works well for all materials. There is a trigger lock and a second handle that also holds the depth gauge. There’s more than enough power for the toughest drilling jobs. However, the tool gets hot and is very loud. The visible construction is all plastic, and I suspect most of the internal parts are also plastic. So, durability is definitely a question. I did not try to purposely stress the tool but I will say that I would reserve it for light duty DIY type jobs.Franky2009
