20 Best Serums For Dry Skin (Jan 2023 Update)

This serum is fantastic! It absorbs quickly and very light. I have used it for nearly two months and my face is hydrated, smooth, and my pores seem smaller. A little goes a long way. I have stopped using expensive youth serums because of this product. I use it morning/night on clean skin. In the morning I use a tinted spf moisturizer over it and my make-up applies smooth. Five out of the six facial products I use are CeraVe. I've been using this product for about a month now. When I was first looking for an Hyaluronic product, I of course looked to CeraVe first. I was disappointed that I couldn't find the percentage of Hyaluronic Acid on the package or anywhere. I looked under the questions section on Amazon and everyone said that CeraVe doesn't give out proprietary ingredient info. I can understand that, however, I don't think the main ingredient, in this case Hyaluronic acid, to be part of a proprietary blend and inhibits consumers from making informed decisions about what products they are buying. Other companies list the amount of it on their labels….this has left a bad taste in my mouth and now I'm questioning my continued use of CeraVe products. L'Oréal Revitalift has no problem stating their percentage..1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid. I will stop using the CeraVe and purchase the Revitalift, since I know what I'm am purchasing. Maybe CeraVe has a higer concentration, but since I don't know, I'll have to go with what I do know. Here's what worked for me. At night, wash face, apply exfoliant/toner. Let that dry down completely. Mist face with water (I use a simple blue glass bottle with a pump spray top–got it off Amazon. Only mist lightly.). Then apply two pumps of the HA serum. Let that dry down thoroughly before adding the night cream. (It seems like using minimal product–just 2 pumps–also helped combat pilling. I like this. It lessened the pilling, and the bottle lasted longer.) YMMV, but letting ALL of the products dry down and settle in, plus lightly misting with water, AND only applying 2 pumps helped me with the pilling. So did using the serum at night vs. daytime. I'm very happy with the results from the serum. 50 y/o, slightly oily complexion, some dry spots, tend to get clogged pores; tried this serum to stop looking like a ghoul during Zoom meetings. I'm very happy with the results, and will continue to use this one. I tested the @lorealparis Revitalift Triple Power LZR Anti Aging 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum. The applicator was very easy to use and I was able to apply the serum on the face without any issues. The serum itself was smooth on my skin, although I did feel some tackiness while it was still wet. As soon as it dried, the tackiness was gone and my skin felt nice and soft. My skin did feel more plump and moisturized. However, I feel like I would need to use it over a longer period of time to see any anti-aging benefits. In the last two years I have been trying a number of hyaluronic acid serum brands. About a month ago I received a sample of Mineral 89 and I was instantly amazed with the results on my skin. The serum has a much thicker consistency than what I am used to, but this is what makes this product different. It absorbs very quickly into the skin and when absorbed, you can feel how moisturised and hydrated it is, even before applying any other products. I use this serum as a first step in my skin care routine and I layer other active ingredients and SPF on top. Even though I am 60 years old, I still have occasional minor flair ups of acne. I was congratulating myself on finally getting it under control, and decided to treat myself to these Timeless Skin Care products. Right away I could feel that my skin was holding moisture and feeling more supple. Unfortunately my skin may have been too sealed – it's the only explanation I can think of. I broke out in an epic case of acne everywhere I had been using the Hyaluronic Acid, which included my neck. I had pimples in areas of my face that had never broken out before, not even as a teen. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant (binds to water) and you're supposed to apply it to damp/wet skin after you've washed your face so that the hyaluronic acid binds to the water and clings onto it. Then, you use an emollient moisturizer on top of the hyaluronic acid serum to seal both the hyaluronic acid and water into your skin. It seriously makes a world of a difference if you follow these steps. Your skin will drink in the water, hyaluronic acid, and moisturizer. I like to follow up with an occlusive moisturizer as the "cherry on top" to minimize transepidermal water loss from my skin as much as possible because I have dry and dehydrated skin and prefer the "greasy face" that I affectionately call the "healthy skin" look. But, you don't need the occlusive moisturizer is you prefer a more natural skin finish and don't suffer from dehydrated skin. Honestly, if I could give this item 10 stars I would. Cheap, effective, minimal, and saved my dehydrated, dry, sensitive skin as it synergized with my skincare arsenal and made my skincare products much more effective. 100% recommend this product.adriana.a

I love this hyalauronic acid. I use this everyday morning and night! It makes my skin so tight! Once dry I do a sunscreen(in the morning) or a serum at night. The only thing I don’t love is the pump, it squirts out so much I almost have to catch it or it will go everywhere. There is so much in one squirt I can do my whole neck and chest too lol. However, in the several weeks I have been diligently using the hyaluronic acid serum and booster, and the polypeptides serum, and the discolouration serum, I have seen no detectable difference, except my skin being sticky from the products. I hate the say that, but there it is. I even left one area untreated, to have a comparison. No discernable difference. So far. My six weeks grace period is coming up shortly. Just bought it and have only used it a couple times. Absorbs quickly but was thicker consistency than expected, which I like. The bottle was glass so it makes it feel much more high quality. I'm getting crows feet and stress lines on my forehead so I wanted to try something gentle such as pure hyaluronic acid first. I've had other products with hyaluronic acid (I have combo really dry skin that tends to pile oil by the end of the day) and they've responded well so I have high hopes for this in the long run. Will update overtime! Especially in the winter coming up. I use chemical exfoliation often as well so I'm hoping this will become a permanent part of my skincare routine.Amy

I bought the 1 oz over a month ago and added it to my collection of face products. After applying, there is a sticky kind of tacky feeling as I press it in. I wasn't sure if this was making a difference until I ran out and my skin feels dryer without it. This really does help hydrate but not as much as I expected. I think if I give it more time, it will get better. So far I really like it and it absorbs well into my skin. I did notice that my other serums absorb better as well when I put this on beforehand. I just bought my second bottle and got the bigger size. Looking forward to better results. It didn't irritate or break me out at all. I love Good Molecules and how they are vegan and cruelty free! I got this last year during the Fresh sale, and the bottle lasted about four months! During that time, my skin took on a softer, bouncier texture and feel. I also had some various Fresh samples that I used with this, and I loved them all! This product, though, I feel is the base for all the other wonderful creams and products from Fresh, and is my absolute favorite. I’ve used this bottle all through this winter so far, and I have not had any rashes from allergic reactions, and I believe it even protected my face from winter skin and windburn during a recent weeklong trip to Chicago that saw single digit temps! I used the sugar scrub, rose face mask, rose toner, this serum and the deep hydration sleeping mask and Omg this morning my skin looks so glowy, hydrated and supple!!!As soon as I washed my face after using the sugar scrub and rose face mask, my skin was glowing like never before. I absolutely LIVE for this serum! It’s very liquidy… In fact i didn’t even realize it was a serum, i had thought it was more like an essence. But it is very moisturizing and leaves a soft healthy glow and skin just feeling good! I have combo skin but this winter i’ve been dryyyy and pores went crazy and this always has my skin looking Fresh (pun intended lol). I wanted to love it. I went off a salespersons recommendation. Unfortunately something in it gave me a bad breakout throughout my face (which had never happened before). I kept using it for 8 days to see if it would go away and it didn’t. As soon as I stopped using it, my face cleared up almost instantaneously so I know it was this product. This is my fourth bottle and I won't ever be without it!! My facial skin is so sensitive so I have to use products specifically formulated for sensitive skin. I love all Pai products, especially the cleanser and cleansing oil and rosehip oil. I add a bit of that to my moisturizer at night sometimes for an extra boost of hydration and glow. The hyaluronic acid in this product makes my skin look amazing, plump and dewy. I use it daily after cleansing , spritzing my face with rose water and in the summer sometimes I use this as my moisturizer as it's hydrating enough. I have tried several different vitamin C serums, and Obagi is really different from the other options out there. I have been using the Obagi 15% for about 6-7 months now. First, I can tell you the color is very, very pale yellow tinged. It also has a very distinct hint of orange scent. What makes it really different, is that I can actually feel it! I mix about 3 drops with 3-4 drops niacinamide serum and about 4 drops hyaluronic acid and squalane morning and night. After applying to clean skin, I notice a very light tingling sensation a few minutes later – nothing dramatic, just a very faint feel. But – that tells me it is doing it's job! My skin tone is very even and fresh looking, and I get compliments all the time. My friends have all raided my bathroom closet to see what I use, and they have all started the same routine!Felecia R

The first time I used it, it seemed to instantly smooth my complexion and even the texture. After three days, my skin looked brighter overall and was extremely soft. After just over a week, my face was no longer oily and my dry patches (all but one area) disappeared. I have used this consistently. The only time I ever felt a tingle was when I used it after the Microdermabrasion Mask. After having using it for over a month already, I hoped I would have seen at least a small difference, especially since I noticed the other changes so quickly. Other things to note: The consistency is much thinner than any other serum I have tried, almost watery. It runs right through my fingers if I'm not careful. This is by far the best Vitamin C product I've ever used. My dull skin has become so radiant, bright, and so healthy looking. I use this every day before moisturizer and after cleansing. Nice fresh scent and the texture and consistency is very nice. It dries down beautifully on the skin with no residue or oily feeling. In just 1 week my skin looks and feels totally revitalized, soft, smooth, and with a healthy glow perfect for the warmer months. I can't wait to see what it looks like in a month! Here is my In-Depth Review: KIEHL'S has some amazing products, and this is a good product. I used it as directed for about 10 days now. I dispensed one pump into my hand, applied over clean face before moisturizer in the morning and at night. I did also use it on my eye contour, as the box suggested I can do… I found the product to be really moisturizing and worked well, even for my oily-combo skin type. Now, it claims it will hydrate (It did) and plump skin (I would say I noticed minimal plumping so far). It also claims to visibly smooth fine lines (I didn't particularly notice this product do that, but I have others that do) and improve elasticity (again, I noticed a mild improvement). Lastly, it claims to reduce the appearance of age-related dehydration (I agree that it is helping dehyration) and will penetrate up to ten surface layers deep (and it may be doing that)… This formula does contain dimethicone pretty high up on the ingredients list, at 3rd place. I can definitely feel that in the texture, but that doesn't bother me. Actually, I feel it helped my makeup apply more smoothly, like a primer would do. I almost feel this could be used interchangeably with a low-key hydrating dimethicone primer, because the formula does not leave skin greasy at all, but feels like it really is being absorbed into the skin and smooths pores and lines due to the dimethicone. However, after it is removed – I don't see it actually helping my fine lines (at least not yet). That part seems to be a temporary solution due to the dimethicone… I do enjoy this product, like I do many from Kielhl's skincare line. It should be noted that this will work best as a moisturizing serum (works great for oily-combo skin*) and can be used as a pseudo-primer to smooth the appearance of skin (while product is on the face). After 10 days, I haven't noticed it smoothing my actual skin, when the product is not applied… I hope this helps give people a good idea of what this product actually is. I would probably not repurchase, unless it does more than the initial 1 week test. However, I don't think it's bad – you just need to know what to expect going into using it. #Kiehlsmeghan.m

Have always been a Kiehl’s fan but this product is new to me. I tried it for 7 days now but saw measured results by day 2. When any product says “plumping” I usually take it with a grain of salt. But this cooling gel textured serum seriously gave my face the appearance of filled in fine lines. I’ve been having fine line issues in recent months and had been trying far more expensive products. However this serum blows the others away – even after I was my face, my bare face just feels softer and looks smooth!! At nearly 32, preventative care is my jam but sometimes preventative care isn’t enough so fine lines show through anyway. But thanks to this serum, which was also very moisturizing for my normal leaning dry, non acne prone skin, I feel like I can keep my fine lines at bay. This is most certainly a product I WILL repurchase. This is a stellar product in the Kiehl’s Arsenal and anyone who has normal leaning dry skin with fine line concerns should try this product. One last thing – I use this as the last serum in my skincare routine due to the ingredients. I then top it off with a moisturizer. Since the ingredients might make it hard for thinner serums to be absorbed by the face, I use the Hydro Plumping serum after the thin water based serums I use. Let's first start off by saying that the brand Kiehls has a lot of solid products that I occasionally will throw into rotation to spice it up, but sadly for me this product was a miss. I did have high expectations and read a lot of great reviews so perhaps its just my finicky skin. Lets get to it.. as instructed I applied daily, in the evening after cleansing/prepping my skin, but prior to moisturizing. Its an almost clear, scentless serum. I applied 2-3 pumps to my face/neck and a little to the backs of my hands because why not? Almost immediately my skin felt warm, red and angry looking, which freaked me out because as far as I knew that wasn't "the norm" after about 5-10 minutes it wasn't as intense and had fully absorbed into my skin. I said my prayers and called it a night.. literally lol I didn't expect to see any results after the first night but by day 2-3 my skin felt a little bit softer? Maybe? But absolutely no plumping effects that I noticed and lets be real, thats what we're counting on over here. I repeated this process x6 more nights, experiencing the same bizarre uncomfortability upon application. Weirdly as the days went on (after appx. day 6) I found my skin to feel MORE dry, even starting to flake in places. (I have combo skin BTW) This is still an enigma to me because at first my skin felt soft and smooth. So overall, this is not something that I would purchase because it was confusing, not a pleasure to use and for minimal results + the price tag there are better alternatives (in my opinion) Although I love me a pump, the packaging is cheap feeling and boring. I really like this a lot. It feels luxurious the light fragrance is fresh really nice. I’ve been using the Chanel line now for about 6 weeks. My skin at 52 is really looking nice. But I am dedicated to the regimen am AND pm. I think there was only 1 morning in the last 6 weeks that I did not do my regimen. My lines are almost in invisible now. This serum feels absolutely heavenly on your skin. Lightweight yet incredibly hydrating. My skin feels so soft! One of the top ingredients in the product is Butylene Glycol which is a humectant which is great for helping the skin retain moisture, so if you have dry skin you'll love the way your skin feels when you use this product. Like so many fads in beauty, 2020 was the year of the hyaluronic serum. Everyone had one, they all were the best, they were the moisturizing superhero every woman needed. I tried the $7 The Ordinary one all the way to the $350 Dr. Barbara Sturm one and you know what, neither did much of anything. I honestly didn’t see a difference. I got the Osea one as part of a duo, and started using it daily along with the water cream for day and protection cream at night and within about two weeks I actually noticed a difference. I was waking up and my skin was calm (little to no redness) and it felt supple rather than dry. My makeup started looking better and my fine lines appeared less noticeable. I would have never tried Osea's Hyaluronic Sea Serum if it hadn't been included as a free sample when I ordered my Osea cleanser and moisturizers. I have tried a LOT of HA serums at many different price points and this is my favorite. It’s because of the way it absorbs and the extra ingredients that are great for anti-aging in the long run and for radiance, plumping and filling in fine lines immediately. It has such a silky texture and no fragrance. It’s incredibly gentle, so perfect for sensitive and reactive skin like mine. Just remember that HA draws in moisture from the air, so you have to make sure you apply some sort of moisturizer over it or it will dry your skin out. I think many of the negative reviews for HA are because people don’t understand how to use it. It also helps to apply to damp skin. I like to apply right after my mist/ toner. Beauty of Joseon is my favourite KBeauty brand by far. Has great ingredients and no added fillers and sensitizing components like fragrance and essential oils. This is one of the best hydrating serums I've used. I have pretty bad eczema flare ups and I usually go for this bottle whenever I do have one. You don't even need to use much so a bottle lasts me a long time! I've already repurchased this product, along with the Propolis one, which is probably the best Kbeauty serum of all time for me.Raphael

I have been using this serum along side other products for almost 3 weeks now and to be honest I did find a slight change in my skin. The texture of the serum is nice not too sticky and it dries great on the skin leaving no grease cast and gorgeous from within glow. I would say that the size is quite small for the price. Another thing, I didn’t breakout from this product which is good for my acne-prone skin. Highly recommend this for dry skin as well. It leaves my skin hydrated with nice glow and pairs well with my other skin care products. My skin is usually dry/sensitive. I wanted to take a break from my retinol product for the summer, but thought I'd try this for a continued bit of skin renewal/turnover. I've loved this product so far (having used it about 2 weeks now). You only need about 3-4 drops, so it should last a long time. It absorbs quickly without any greasiness and my skin feels much softer than on the days I don't use this product. I have not noticed any irritation or increased sensitivity, which I appreciate as I take multiple medications that make my skin extra sun-sensitive.Kacey B.

I have the type of skin that burns and turns red with many skin products. I've been trying to simplify and make sure what I do use doesn't react to each other and cause burning. I use this as the first step in my routine. I really loved Josie maran argan oil hydrating milk but find it to be very pricey and runs out quickly. I know this is $11 cheaper but the packaging on this serum versus the Josie one …I get more out of it? Pump vs dropper. I like the dropper a lot. Anyways the product itself works well for my skin. It's supple and hydrated. The way the serum spreads is really nice too. I then use embroylisse as my moisturizer (which doubles as a wonderful primer fyi) and the combo of the two work so well for me. No burning or redness. And it's very hydrating. I thought I would really like this product due to the ingredients list, but so far…I am disappointed. It does absorb into the skin if you follow the instructions to "massage it into the skin." I normally just tap or gently sweep serum over my face with my ring and pinky fingers, but unless I really make sure this one is absorbed fully it makes anything I put on top of it, including moisturizer, pill instantly. Even when fully absorbed I don't find it remotely hydrating and it leaves a slightly tacky feeling. It almost feels dehydrating/tightening, and makes me eager to add moisturizer. So far when I use it at night I wake up feeling dry. I have been battling a damaged barrier following an eczema flare up on my chin during the last part of winter, but with the ceramides and all of the other barrier supporting ingredients, I thought this would be similar to Krave Beauty's Great Barrier Relief, but it's got more of a syrupy, sticky texture than a rich, milky or creamy one. in fairness I've only used it for 3 days, so I will update if I start to see some sort of results after a week. if not, I'm returning it. oh, and the packaging is pretty, but seems EXCESSIVE and not environmentally conscious: plastic box, with a cloth bag inside, and an incredibly heavy/thick glass bottle inside that, plus a separate little paper insert about the brand (with zero useful info about the product, really). The whole thing is about natural this and that, clean blah blah blah, but idk, seems tone deaf to use so much extra packaging to make it look luxe (knock-off Burberry tartan and all). And the serum does smell funny, which I don't mind, but think "dairy that sat on the counter for an hour"…not sour, but a very distinctly dairy smell.Hollz

I got this item and was highly skeptical of its claims that it could be used on any skin type, as my skin is super sensitive to so many products. I had figured that it would probably just end up in the bin with all of the other high end and low end products that i have tried, only to find them irritating…but BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!! Not only did this product not aggravate my skin in the slightest but it improved my skin so much! I love that it was feather weight and didn't leave my skin feeling like i had heavy oils on it. the serum is a slight bit sticky when you first put it on just until it soaks into your skin (much like aloe). there is hardly any smell to it what so ever, if you smell very close you might catch a wiff of the witch hazel but it dissipates once applied to your skin. I love that there is no added color or fragrance, there is nothing worse then having something heavily scented on your face. The serum is a super thick gel so a tiny drop covers your whole face and neck. Its easy to use and fast absorbing, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. Im sure if you live in a hot climate or in the summer months it would be super refreshing to leave the bottle to chill in the refrigerator and apply it cold. I LOVED the way that it helped my face feel so much that i ended up trying it on the patches of eczema that i had on my arms and backs of my hands. I was amazed with how fast it reduced the redness and softened the once dry and flaky skin. who doesn't love finding extra uses for well loved products?! and with the generous size of the bottle and the super tiny amount needed to achieve results your money sure goes a long way! As a 20-something, who is often still mistaken for college student, I didn't think I needed to add any collagen or anti-aging products to my routine yet. I saw an add for Foxbrim Natural's Collagen Peptide Serum on Facebook and decided on a whim to give it a try. The serum itself is light and almost cooling when applied. It is quickly absorbed and does not leave skin feeling sticky or tacky like other similar products do. I wanted this product for my lines around my mouth. I am not sure why they are so much more prominent. I use it to ward of lines on my forehead and around my eyes. This serum is fantastic! It absorbs quickly and very light. I have used it for nearly two months and my face is hydrated, smooth, and my pores seem smaller. A little goes a long way. I have stopped using expensive youth serums because of this product. I use it morning/night on clean skin. In the morning I use a tinted spf moisturizer over it and my make-up applies smooth. I even apply it over my lips which helps hydrate before applying lipstick or gloss! Def try it, you won't regret it!! 🤩laney74

Five out of the six facial products I use are CeraVe. I've been using this product for about a month now. When I was first looking for an Hyaluronic product, I of course looked to CeraVe first. I was disappointed that I couldn't find the percentage of Hyaluronic Acid on the package or anywhere. I looked under the questions section on Amazon and everyone said that CeraVe doesn't give out proprietary ingredient info. I can understand that, however, I don't think the main ingredient, in this case Hyaluronic acid, to be part of a proprietary blend and inhibits consumers from making informed decisions about what products they are buying. Other companies list the amount of it on their labels….this has left a bad taste in my mouth and now I'm questioning my continued use of CeraVe products. L'Oréal Revitalift has no problem stating their percentage..1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid. I will stop using the CeraVe and purchase the Revitalift, since I know what I'm am purchasing. Maybe CeraVe has a higer concentration, but since I don't know, I'll have to go with what I do know. Sorry CeraVe, bad call on your part on this issue and you most likely lost a long time customer.Laurent7465

Here's what worked for me. At night, wash face, apply exfoliant/toner. Let that dry down completely. Mist face with water (I use a simple blue glass bottle with a pump spray top–got it off Amazon. Only mist lightly.). Then apply two pumps of the HA serum. Let that dry down thoroughly before adding the night cream. (It seems like using minimal product–just 2 pumps–also helped combat pilling. I like this. It lessened the pilling, and the bottle lasted longer.) YMMV, but letting ALL of the products dry down and settle in, plus lightly misting with water, AND only applying 2 pumps helped me with the pilling. So did using the serum at night vs. daytime. I'm very happy with the results from the serum. 50 y/o, slightly oily complexion, some dry spots, tend to get clogged pores; tried this serum to stop looking like a ghoul during Zoom meetings. I'm very happy with the results, and will continue to use this one.
