I bought the travel size of this shampoo to test out how it would do on my hair before I splurged on the big bottle. I was also a bit wary of the reviews that claimed it caused hair loss. I have wavy and thick hair with low porosity. I have a very dry, itchy, flakey scalp as well. I read that tea tree oil could help soothe your scalp, so I thought I would try it. I washed my hair as directed. Used about 3 dime sizes for my whole head and massaged it into my scalp. It lathers alright. Not much suds. That made me think that it wasn't cleaning my hair enough so I was tempted to put more shampoo on my head but I did not. The smell is very strong, but it does not linger in your hair post-wash. Usually, my head begins to itch after I wash my hair, but with this shampoo, there was no itch! So I was pleasantly surprised by that. I finished off my hair with the tea tree special conditioner. After I finished showering and dried my hair with a microfiber towel, I noticed no residue on my hair and it felt very clean! I couldn't see any flakes and my scalp wasn't itchy! Just from this, I am very impressed with this shampoo. To address the hair loss comments, I did not notice any significant hair loss when I used the shampoo. I am the type to shed a lot of hair as it is since I have thick hair. I also wash my hair about once a week, so I tend to lose a bit of hair because of that because stray hairs build up over that time. So this might not be good for someone who has thin hair or shampoos frequently. But for me, it works great. Hair loss was about the same or slightly less than usual. I washed my hair about 5 days ago and my hair is a lot less flakey and itchy. It still feels relatively clean with some oil started to build up on my hair. Best shampoo out there for oily dandruff ! Used a $400 prescription shampoo for 15 years and of course it worked, however one just can't Afford to keep using a $400 shampoo every day at a 30 day prescription. I'm a licensed stylist and always heard and was taught that Tea Tree has healing ingredients that Actually work . Never had the chance to use it. I got the shampoo and conditioner combo and used it for the first time today. Here are my thoughts: The "tingly" feeling is real. At first I thought it was burning my scalp but it's not. I have extreme dandruff and have tried RX shampoos to help that never worked. My scalp at least "feels" clean. I've seen a lot of reviews about hair falling out and mine did not at all. I have hashimotos disease which causes hair loss to an extreme so I expected clumps again. NOPE. Make sure to brush through your hair before you wash it! This prevents any extra breakage. The small is very strong. I love essential oils for their healing properties but the smells are awful. No exception here! Any tee tree product will smell like this BTW. DISCLAIMER: tee tree can be poisonous in raw form. If you have allergies, do not use this. For people with psoriasis this will not be for you. Keep out of reach from pets as it is poisonous to cats and dogs even as a topical product. Anything with essential oil products can be potentially dangerous and I urge you to research before you buy! I have an oily scalp with wavy waist length thick hair (many thin/low porosity strands). Color treated blonde. Problems: fluffy/poofy hair, greasy roots, dry ends, seborrheic dermatitis (on back of scalp) 1. Product longevity: I only used the allotted card sample packet of 10 mL shampoo & 10 mL conditioner, which I was prepared to not be enough for my long hair. It was perfect! It went a long way, which was a pleasant surprise right off the bat. 2. Scent: the fragrance is pleasant, light but it hangs in there, even into the next day. The scent is unisex. It just smells very *clean,* like a fresh aquatic citrus. Although it’s subtle, it is noticeable enough to get a “ooh your hair smells good” when someone goes in for the hug. 3. Effectiveness: this cleaned my hair so well, without making it feel overly dried or stripped. I have a hard time getting a good product that works with my dermatitis, and actually calmed the flare up I was having. Day 2 after wash, my head was so much less itchy than it was all week. My hair stayed clean and free of grease throughout all of day 1 and 2. Paired with the conditioner, my hair was smooth, shiny, soft (but not overly fluffy/full of poofy flyaways). It felt hydrated and my ends looked good. I’ve been faithful to olaplex for the past 2 years, but think I may have a new fave. I noticed that with olaplex, my hair began getting greasy SO quickly. I was getting greasy same day as wash. I still love it (that LATHER and scent tho!), but I think it’s too rich and moisture-focused for regular use given my oily scalp. My seborrheic dermatitis was getting worse and having intense flare ups. Anyway, everyone’s hair is different, and can change in different seasons, so I really don’t think there’s a “one size fits all” hair product that will be best for everyone at all times. That being said, transitioning into warmer, humid spring/summer weather, I’m really pleased to have found this product. It’ll be great for clean summer hair.jessicaeve1023
For reference: I have LONG hair with a naturally wavy/curly texture, and with that comes frizz. A lot of it – even though I'm very aware of how to tame it (naturally kept or with a blow-out). My hair behaves weirdly, i'll just put it that way – it's difficult to achieve perfectly smooth styles. HOWEVER… I've been using OUAI products (I started with the THICK SHAMP+THICK COND.) for a little bit over a year now & all I can say is…I will NEVER go back to anything else, ever, unless I find something AS extraordinary as this brand. It's like magic in a bottle, to me at least. I have never experienced better hair (at home, done by me) in my entire life. It's insanely smooth & silky. I have such minimal frizz now. I normally need to blow dry AND straighten my hair, but I am beyond satisfied with just the blow-dried results. The only cons, I would say, is that because there's such rich and moisturizing ingredients (love to see it!) your hair can become a tad oily after the third day, even second sometimes. You just need to figure out what the right amount of product is for you so that you don't over do it. The second con, though it's nothing too crazy, would be that sometimes I end up needing more product in the shower, as it doesn't lather suuuuper well – but again, this depends on hair length and the amount that you know you need. I guess I just wish it foamed a bit more, is all. BUT these are such small things that can be resolved & aren't much of a big deal. For the oily con as mentioned above, this is why I switched to the MEDIUM line & I feel like it has helped. The THICK line may have heavier ingredients. I have tried SO many different shampoos and conditioners. A lot from drugstore and high end. And lately I've noticed I've been shedding more than usual. I have been using pureology a lot. I've used strength cure, hydrate and the nano works good line. But for some reason the pureology strength cure especially really irritated my scalp and makes me lose soooo much hair. So I got the ouai thick hair shampoo and conditioner and the first time I used it my shedding was only like 10 hair strands! I've washed my hair 4 times with it now and my hair scalp feels so clean but the shampoo makes washing my hair so easy and doesn't tangle my hair. And the conditioner is chefs kiss. I barely have to use any and my hair is so conditioned after the shampoo/conditioner. My hair is so soft, shiny, clean and my natural waves/curls look really pronounced since using the set. Also they smell AMAZING I want a perfume in the shampoo scent! I got the leave in, oil, and curl cream and they all work together beautifully and don't make my hair feel producty which I like because pureolgy always leaves my hair feeling kinda gross when I use their leave ins. I bought this conditioner on a whim during a sale. I have relatively low fuss hair; my 3b curls are hip length and rarely exposed to heat. As such, my hair doesn’t necessarily require much to look or feel great. This conditioner isn’t super thick, but it is VERY hydrating. The aroma is fresh and inviting, almost reminiscent of lemon. I like this conditioner quite a lot and would certainly recommend it to others looking for something new to shake up their haircare routine.

I’m completely beside myself that they reformulated the original Indian Hemp and Tamanu shampoo and conditioner to this formulation. I’ve been using haircare for 20 years and I’ve used so many that I can’t even recount. I’ve NEVER found one that actually worked in my hair until I had found that one. I have medium thick, wavy hair that tends to get oily very quickly. The old formula was just incredible: it didn’t dry my hair out, my curls laid perfectly and loved it, I didn’t get a 5’oclock oil slick – it really was perfection. I’m so disappointed in this new formula. No matter how well I wash my hair (placing the shampoo at my scalp evenly, massaging it in my scalp like crazy, double-shampooing, only placing conditioner on my ends, ,etc. etc.) I always have oily hair immediately afterwards. My hair is also much frizzier and my curls don’t lay nicely. Lastly and this is purely from a design perspective, the font of the “shampoo” and “co-wash” is so tiny that you can barely read it. When I was purchasing it in the store I though they only had conditioner because they both look like conditioner and the font is so hard to see/read. Mind you, I have 18/20 vision and don’t require eyewear. I like to shower with the nightlight on at night so I an avoid a super bright light and create more of an ambiance, but I really can’t read which is which. I have to hold the bottle up to the nightlight in the wall and squint. I just really don’t understand why they reformulated such a perfect product. This conditioner was surprisingly great! I say surprisingly because I thought I would hate it just by texture alone. I normally use a thicker conditioner and this out of the bottle was thinner than what I expected. I only put conditioner on the ends of my hair and I was incredibly happy at the results. I wash my hair once a week and always let it air dry. I washed my hair as normal and replaced my usual conditioner with this one. I attached a picture of my hair after it dried before I did anything else to it using my regular conditioner and then the following week when using the Olive Oil. You can see the difference in my hair. This one left my hair feeling oily. It definitely hydrates, but this product would be better on someone with curly hair. The conditioner was not terrible as it smells rather pleasant and it does hydrate. It just isn’t for my hair type. First off I thought this was like a thick lotion or cream and no, it is not.. so you’re gonna have to buy a squirt bottle or a mister of some type to go along with this product.  when you shake the bottle it sounds like water but giiiiirl it is not! I like this leave in conditioner it has a water like consistency. It has almost a fruity pineapple scent. It doesnt moisturize my hair but It is also an additional heat protection so it makes my life easier to not constantly try to buy a seperate heat protectant for styling. It doesnt do much hydration at all but it does the job for a tiny extra bit of moisture. If youre someone that has low perosity hair i don’t recommend as it doesnt have much hydration properties at all but maybe for someone who has an oily scalp and want a more lightweight product this may be the one for you. This thickening shampoo is great! My hair instantly feels thicker and smoother after washing it with this shampoo! The application process is great! I like that it's made out of simple ingredients. With some shampoos, I noticed because of the harsh chemicals, my hair falls out more after washing it. With this shampoo, it's the opposite. My hair doesn't fall out and it feels and looks more healthier. The scent is amazing! The only downfall about this product is that it sometimes makes your scalp drier. I'm not a fan of this shampoo at all. It feels very drying – a thin shampoo consistency that lathers like an unusual amount, the scent is really strong and doesn't seem as luxurious as a lot of the other options, and I have to wash my hair a lot more frequently with it because it gets greasy after only 1-2 days. I won't be coming back for more. I've found some fantastic other products on Vitacost for me. My 9 year-old loves it so he uses it. We use a lot of natural products in our house and I think he loves the strong lemony scent of this compared to the "boring" or non-existent scents of our other products.strawberry
This is my DREAM shampoo, after many years of struggles and health changes! I have straight fine hair that NEVER has volume. I used to get a little volume from my thickness… that is, until I went off dairy and gluten as part of a healthier diet in my mid-30s. Losing that "overdose" of calcium (and I mean, I was ADDICTED to dairy, so I went from a huge dairy diet to none) just changed my body. There were many positive changes, and this was a holistic health decision, and I stand by it, but I was so sad at what became of my hair. Five years after my diet changes, I got pregnant, and pregnancy vitamins helped my hair thicken again, but of course, when pregnancy and breastfeeding were over, I stopped the vitamins, and my hair got thinner than it was before pregnancy. I tried many suggestions about rose oil and the horse shampoo to help hair growth, etc. But none of it really helped, and the horse shampoo just made my hair hang and look sad. So when I tried Desert Essence's Mango, I picked this scent because it said it helped with volume, but I didn't have much hope. Oh my friggin' goodness, this stuff was AWESOME!!! I began to see results after the first couple of washes, and when I use the Mango Conditioner too, it's even better. I love how it smells. My husband is really attracted to the scent. My toddler notices the smell too and likes the smell of mom's hair. I normally dye and highlight my hair, and this has been really reparative and restorative to the harshness of those chemicals. I am just in love with this shampoo, and so grateful I can feel good about my hair again, for the first time in eight years! I know this shampoo is targeted for oily scalp and I have dry scalp actually but I bought it because I do oil treatment every time I wash my hair so that should work as oily scalp? Besides, the ingredient list is very similar to how homemade shampoos are made in India so I didn't think it would cause any issue. However, after one month of usage, I've noticed unusual hair fall. It sure cleans my scalp like a clarifying shampoo but seems to also dry out my hair so much that it is causing hair loss too. I gave it a benefit of the doubt by continuing after a month thinking maybe this is similar to skin purging but in hair like all the weak hair is coming out instead but I don't think that is what's going on. I don't know which ingredient is causing hair fall or whether I'm allergic to any of it or if the ingredients used are low quality but this is definitely not for dry hair folks regardless if you do oil treatment. This preserves my color. I dye my hair jet black with the henna and indigo 2 step process. It doesn’t dry my hair out and is gentle. Great for curly hair. I also like the Auromere shampoo bar. The only thing I don’t care for is how either smells but I’ll take healthy hair over the smell. The other product from this line that keeps my teeth white and fresh is the foaming mint shampoo. I didn't want to write a review for this product until I had been using it for several months. Well I have, and I can safely say that I absolutely love this product. I was concerned that the shampoo wouldn't lather enough because that has been my experience with natural or organic products. Well, this shampoo bar doesn't lather up like most shampoos do (because they don't use the toxic ingredients which creates the lather), but the lather it does create is rich and almost creamy. It's just lovely. After two weeks of using this shampoo I had a coworker comment on how lighter my hair looked. She thought I had put highlights in. I have never, in my entire life, colored my hair. The the shampoo seemed to bring out the natural highlights of my hair. Still, I waited, just in case it was a coincidence. In the two weeks that followed that I had two other coworkers mentions how fluffy and healthy my hair looked. Again, I took the compliment and waited to make my final assessment. It's been several months and, not only have I continued to get compliments (I've since given out the Viori information to many, many people) but I've notice myself that my hair is so much softer than it used to be and, the biggest difference, I style my hair after I wash it and am able to maintain the style for several days. Normally I wash my hair, style it and then within two days tops (I don't wash my hair every time I take a shower since it's naturally dry) it gets flat and looses its style. Once I started using Viori I could go 2 days plus without washing/styling my hair and it maintained it's bounce and style! So I went for 4 days, then 5 days, still it looked clean and healthy! Again, since my hair is not oily but naturally dry and, since too much water can dry out your hair, my goal has always been to wash my hair as little as possible. I really wanted to try this shampoo out because I travel a lot and I hate to check a bag! Having shampoo and conditioner in a bar is a no-brainer for easy of taking all of my toiletries in my carry on bag. The best part is that it doesn’t take up much room and it lasts a long time, so the travel sized bars are great and last the two weeks that I am usually traveling. Now, let’s get to the nitty-gritty of what this has done for my hair! I have stick-straight, fine hair that I color about every 4-6 weeks. I am naturally a dark brown with lots of grey, so I process with a 30 volume developer. As I’ve aged, I’ve had increased breakage and my hair can become quite dry. Keeping it from looking frizzy is a challenge! I wash and condition my hair typically every other day when at home, but daily when I travel. This shampoo and conditioner has completely changed the game for me! My hair looks amazing, even when left to air dry! Although it’s an unfinished look, it is completely acceptable to wash and go now! My hair actually has some body to it! It is so smooth and soft, but not weighed down! I haven’t been using the products long enough to see if it will help with breakage, but I have noticed that I’m seeing less hair in my comb. The scent is not something I thought I would like, as florals aren’t my jam, but I don’t mind this at all! It’s soft and subtle, not overpowering and plays well with my daily use of more earthy scents. I’ve also noticed that when I do style my hair, it holds well for the second day! This is something that I’ve never had before! One day with styling, hair down, the next day, in a loose ponytail…but now I have the option of wearing it down 2 days in a row! I was a little standoffish when it came to trying a shampoo bar. Sounds great in theory, but would it actually be a product I would be satisfied with and continue using, or would it sit in the shower untouched? I have used the shampoo bar and the conditioner bar several times now and am absolutely loving it! I was worried about how it would foam up and feel while using. I looked up the directions with doubt regarding the instruction to use the bar in circular motions on the head. I was pleasantly surprised when, after a few seconds, my short hair was covered in a nice, luxurious shampoo. It lathered up surprisingly well and it made my hair feel nice and clean. The conditioner went on nicely with a few swipes and massage into the hair. Both products are easy to use, and I will be ordering more when I need it! Initially I started researching bar shampoo for my husband's deployment where space and weight are really limited. He, and others, were really interested in the possibilities! The only thing that threw me off are the directions regarding the bamboo holder and having to coat with oil and bake in the oven. I happened to come across those directions, but I don't recall seeing them in the materials with the products. But that, thus far, is the only problem I have come across. I have naturally long, wavy hair and haven't seen my hair like this in a long time. This shampoo (and conditioner) smell delicious first off, and secondly it is lightweight and leaves my hair feeling so fresh and clean. It has brought back my natural waves and more. I have not experienced an itchy scalp or have any sort of build-up issues with this product as of yet, and I don't expect to. I don't typically wash my hair everyday and my hair stays fresh for a lot longer than it usually does. Will most definitely be keeping this as my new shampoo & conditioner. I read good reviews about Rahua and the ability to generate a good lather / wash for a clean shampoo. The shampoo smells divine, but it comes out in a clear gel-like texture and I feel like I have to use A LOT to get a later and work into my thick hair. I have really thick hair, so perhaps it would work better for finer textures. It's a gel, vs cream based shampoo, but I purchased because of the color safe indication. Maybe just the moisturizing shampoo would be better? When I say I use A LOT, I feel like I'm pouring 3- 4 tablespoons to get it through my hair, vs a "dime" size amount, which for some reason sticks in my mind as how much shampoo you should be using. I like the product. I usually have a great experience but this time was not the case. I had an address change in the middle of an order and changed it in my account and chatted with someone and gave them the new address. The person assured me the product would be shipped to the new address. Unfortunately it was not. So I had to travel back to the old address where it was shipped and get it. Luckily it was in the same state. It is a great product though. I lost 3/4 of my hair after being VERY SICK and getting treatment for covid. After taking supplemental pills (Biotin and Keratin) and using the shampoo 9- 10 months later it is coming back and possibly thicker than before. Look at all the new growth. My experience: This is an initial impressions review. I have always had a lot of fine hair that can get easily greasy from heavy products. I have noticed that since the pandemic my hair has been shedding & thinning so I have been excited to try this shampoo. This has a medium thick, golden gel texture with a botanical scent. This produces a rich lather that cleanses my hair of buildup without leaving my hair stripped or greasy. My hair is shiny, soft & healthy. I haven’t used this long enough yet to say my hair is thicker yet but hope to provide a follow up review after more consistent, longer use. Overall: I’m a big fan of this Flourish shampoo this far. I ended up buying this product from the company as Sephora is always out of stock. I have colour-treated, very fine, mostly straight, thinning hair, and a normal (not oily or dry) scalp. I liked this product at first–gave me noticeable, above-average, volume, and it appeared healthy. However, over time (about three months) it has severely dehydrated my hair and stripped the colour. The dehydration is now making my hair look even thinner. Perhaps it might work for people with no tendency toward dryness or are willing to use a very hydrating conditioner with it (though in my case heavy conditioners deflate the volume). I really love the Native Moisturizing Shampoo. My hair is long and mostly straight. I have a really hard time getting it all clean without the top part closest to my scalp feeling filmy. This shampoo gets my hair incredibly clean without all the filminess. It doesn't take a large amount to get a good lather going and it rinses out incredibly well. The scent is probably my favorite feature. It has a fantastic coconut and vanilla mixed scent that is in no way overpowering; it's just the perfect amount to make your hair smell great and freshly clean. I wanted to like Native Coconut & Vanilla Moisturizing Shampoo a lot more than I did. I love everything the company stands for and everything they're trying to accomplish, but this shampoo fell short of my expectations. For starters, the scent. I LOVE LOVE LOVE coconut shampoo, but this had a smidge too much vanilla, leaving a "Christmas in Hawaii" vibe. Some people love that, but I'm not one of them. I like my coconut to be topical and sweet smelling. It goes either way with coconut vanilla and this one definitely went toward Hawaiian holiday instead of beach escape. I also wasn't super impressed with how it lathered and there is nothing moisturizing about this shampoo. It cleans, which is the primary function of a shampoo and it does that well, but it certainly didn't leave my hair soft or moisturized. The more I used it, the drier it felt. Honestly, this hair mask took me by surprise. I have never had any hair product that leaves my hair completely frizzless until now. My hair is a mixture between straight hair and wavy parts that frame my face. Finding anything that works for me is a real challenge. Native has impressed me once again. I am loving this Strengthening Hair Mask to the fullest. I have natural dry thirsty hair that is color treated, fried and dyed and oh boy do I need to use a good mask. I am forever on the ma let for hair products that gets the job done or at least make a great attempt and this did not disappoint at all. The tube is easy to use when your hands are wet. It barely has a smell which is perfect. It is thick but just right to smooth into your hair evenly. I took a chance years ago! My frizz is under control just by shampoo and conditioner. My hair feels LIGHT (not weighed down by other frizz products). I have tried all sorts of expensive and cheap natural shampoos, but this just outperforms nearly everything. I wanted no silicones, and no SLS. This shampoo is surprisingly gentle and didn't strip my hair, but just like the name says, it actually is thoroughly cleansing. It removes all buildup from my fine hair, and leaves it shiny but fluffy and full of volume. I used to use one of the Hairgurt shampoos, but while that made my hair super shiny, it looked greasy the next day. With the Alaffia, I can actually go 2 days without washing and my hair looks clean. It won't blow you away with movie star hair, but again, this doesn't contain silicones, which is what most other shampoos are full of.RiddlesKitty

I have thick hair – frizzy, sometimes dry but does get oily by the 3rd day of not washing- and it just did not cleanse my scalp well. I would feel like it would strip my hair of it's natural oils and just make it super dry, but it would still feel dirty?? I've tried their lavender shampoo and that one was fine… overall there are so many other shampoo options so I would not repurchase. however, if you want to try something from this brand, try their body line! 🙂melanie.s
My hair is a bit coarse and it does get dry easily and even a bit frizzy. I tried the Alaffia Turmeric Neem shampoo and conditioner, and it does help my hair to not get frizzy and it feels soft and healthy. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it's hard to spread, maybe due to the Neem oil, so I have to use a lot since I have long and thick hair. Also my hair feels heavy like it needs to be washed again after a couple of days. My usual routine is to wash my hair every 3 days.Cher

I love this shampoo. Smells good, and the lather just feels luxurious, trust me. Cleanses well and feels great on my hair. My issue- I got the smaller bottle, ulta was out of the big size at the time of purchase. I paired it with the larger conditioner which is fine, I use more conditioner anyway. But the shampoo squeezy bottle is slightly loose on the cap closure and so I can't store this on my shower shelf, I gotta do cap up so I don't risk spillage. Product isn't cheap so I don't want to risk losing it! I would love the smaller size to be in a smaller pump bottle, just works better.Courtney
I bought the 9oz bottle but I wish I'd bought the mini 1st to test it out. I like it a lot and it truly does hydrate your hair, however, it did nothing for my scalp. My scalp leans on the dry side, in turn leading to dry hair. I have natural 4C hair by the way. It was different having moisturized hair but a scalp that isn't and this is not the fault of the product. I chose the wrong one for my hair needs. I might mix it with another shampoo from the brand to get my desired effect. Overall I'm impressed because it did as advertised.JC
I'm bi-racial with thick naturally curly hair and have tried a lot of different brands but would get the same disappointing result, dried out and feels like straw. I looked at this while shopping at Ulta and a sales person was next to me and told me that it works well for my 3B hair. The sales person had tight curly hair. Since I work hard for my money I didn't want to get a big one right away so I got a trial size to try to see how this works. I need it to be moisturizing and not too much or it will make my hair greasy. When I tried it over the weekend, I could easily slip my fingers though my hair easily so I can get it everywhere. I wish I had something like this years ago. I use this and the medium conditioner and leave-in. The compliments I get, I love it. I look forward to washing my hair again. I got impulsive over the pandemic and bleached my hair at home. It looks great but I'd have to cut off another inch with each blow dry because it was so fried. I switched to Maple products and found that the Silk18 line works best for me. Obviously my hair is still damaged but it feels so much better and it's a thousand times more manageable. It also doesn't kill my hair dye like some other shampoos I've used. Overall would recommend for damaged and dyed hair.Audrey D.
I used this shampoo with the Silk18 conditioner. It has a nice scent, lasts a long time and at a great price. I absolutely loved the way my hair looked and smelled with this. Incredibly soft and luscious. Unfortunately I had to stop using it after I moved to Colorado because it wasn’t hydrating enough for my scalp. It did leave and keep my hair hydrated, but my scalp itchy. If you want your hair to have a great shine and texture, you should definitely give this a shot.aaron.w

This thickening shampoo is great! My hair instantly feels thicker and smoother after washing it with this shampoo! The application process is great! I like that it's made out of simple ingredients. With some shampoos, I noticed because of the harsh chemicals, my hair falls out more after washing it. With this shampoo, it's the opposite. My hair doesn't fall out and it feels and looks more healthier. The scent is amazing! The only downfall about this product is that it sometimes makes your scalp drier. I'm not a fan of this shampoo at all. It feels very drying – a thin shampoo consistency that lathers like an unusual amount, the scent is really strong and doesn't seem as luxurious as a lot of the other options, and I have to wash my hair a lot more frequently with it because it gets greasy after only 1-2 days. I won't be coming back for more. I've found some fantastic other products on Vitacost for me. My 9 year-old loves it so he uses it. We use a lot of natural products in our house and I think he loves the strong lemony scent of this compared to the "boring" or non-existent scents of our other products.strawberry
This is my DREAM shampoo, after many years of struggles and health changes! I have straight fine hair that NEVER has volume. I used to get a little volume from my thickness… that is, until I went off dairy and gluten as part of a healthier diet in my mid-30s. Losing that "overdose" of calcium (and I mean, I was ADDICTED to dairy, so I went from a huge dairy diet to none) just changed my body. There were many positive changes, and this was a holistic health decision, and I stand by it, but I was so sad at what became of my hair. Five years after my diet changes, I got pregnant, and pregnancy vitamins helped my hair thicken again, but of course, when pregnancy and breastfeeding were over, I stopped the vitamins, and my hair got thinner than it was before pregnancy. I tried many suggestions about rose oil and the horse shampoo to help hair growth, etc. But none of it really helped, and the horse shampoo just made my hair hang and look sad. So when I tried Desert Essence's Mango, I picked this scent because it said it helped with volume, but I didn't have much hope. Oh my friggin' goodness, this stuff was AWESOME!!! I began to see results after the first couple of washes, and when I use the Mango Conditioner too, it's even better. I love how it smells. My husband is really attracted to the scent. My toddler notices the smell too and likes the smell of mom's hair. I normally dye and highlight my hair, and this has been really reparative and restorative to the harshness of those chemicals. I am just in love with this shampoo, and so grateful I can feel good about my hair again, for the first time in eight years! I am now pregnant again, and I trust Desert Essence products to be safe to use throughout my pregnancy and breastfeeding, and I am so happy I will have this product to continue to feel good about my hair as my body changes through all the symptoms of pregnancy.OMama

I placed an order months back in early August, when my shipment was delivered I noticed that it was leaking from the bottom of the box. When I opened the cute pink box, there was product (Mongongo Oil Exfoliating Shampoo) all throughout the box saturating the inside and the peanuts. I sifted through the peanuts for the two Mongongo Oil Exfoliating Shampoo bottles to find one 95% empty. One bottle spilled out while in transit for delivery. With what remains in that bottle, there may have been only one wash day. I attached photos taken directly after opening the box. I requested a refund or replacement in mid & late August and again in October, and have not received either. Shame. So I received this shampoo and I must say the scent is magnificent. Nothing I’ve smelt in any other shampoo before and it left my hair and scalp smelling and feeling very light and fresh. However, Why did I give it 4 stars? I would have 4.5 if I could but Unfortunately the size. I really wish they sold bigger sizes. My 8OZ bottle has already only 2 washes left in it after first use. I ordered 2 deep conditioners, 2 leave-in milks and 2 shampoos. All arrived in a box filled with cute pink packing peanuts and some pink paper confetti. Though this was very cute and fitting for the brand's color, this did not protect the inventory. My shampoo arrived messy. Somehow the top was pressed down and shampoo was able to leak out of BOTH bottles. I was surprised to see that there neither bottle was SEALED. This is the first time I've purchased some type of shampoo that when I twisted the top off, there was no protective seal… This is concerning because that also affects the period of use for the product. Typically life of product starts after you remove the seal. Without a seal, there's no telling how old or expired this product is. I'll likely never purchase this product again. It was my first time and since there are other products out there, I'll opt for the other brands. I don't even know if I can use this because they were bubbly from the heat…. No returns though, so unfortunately, I have to take that "L"Felicia D.
