My dog suffers from hot spots on his feet and it makes him just miserable as one heals and another pops up in a different spot. My vet recommended I try a shampoo formulated specifically for hot spots and I found this at a major online retailer. A sixteen ounce bottle ran me about $7 as an add on item which I thought was quite economical since my dog is so small and that one bottle should last me through many, many washes. The formula uses Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile to calm dry, itchy skin and despite being a bit strong smelling during the bathing process the smell does not linger after drying. After the first bath with this I noticed a definite improvement in my dog's spots and he seemed more relaxed and less prone to lick the sore areas. After a month of weekly baths his spots were gone and they have not reappeared since. He also had a bit of a dandruff problem during the summer as he likes to sit outside and sunbathe which dries out his skin. Since I started using this shampoo his dandruff has disappeared completely as well! Overall, I definitely recommend this! The slight smell is definitely worth it for the results!capers01

LOVE Vet's Best Hot Spot shampoo. My dog developed seasonal allergies a few years ago and was sneezing and itching SO badly she was ripping her fur out in multiple places. I still can't get the bottles of shampoo I ordered to release the poop smell that premeditated the plastic bottles. So disappointed they where mailed together in same pouch! I had to grow away treats after watching my husband gag, and our dog smelled like poop and the floor area where to treat fell.KRF

This has been the only dog shampoo I will ever use! I have a one year old "Beagador" : Chocolate Labrador and Beagle mix dog. So needless to say he is very hyper and won't stand for taking a bath longer than a few minute's! This shampoo a little goes a long way and it doesn't stay feeling stuck in his fur like some products do. It easily is rinsed out and has an awesome smell I love so much. Which I was surprised that even after a few days I could still smell it on Leo. It made his fur coat very soft and smooth. Really loved this product and so does my pups. One weekend both my doggies got sprayed by a skunk, naturally I went for tomato juice and another mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to bath them in. It worked wonders but after that I wanted to give them a nice soothing bath so I used this. I loved the scent and how calming it was for my pups. It smoothed my pitbulls skin really good and made both my other long haired babygirl and my potty smell good and have a smooth coat. It relaxed them a lot too after having been bathed at least 3 times each. I also added only 2 drops of lavender oil, so not too overpowering to there bath which also helped. Allegedly, this is a more natural option to be able to bathe your dog with, but as with all shampoos for animals you should consider / worry about the inactive ingredients as well in the shampoo, not just the fact “oh it’s oatmeal” and read the label, read the label, and for heaven sakes read the label in its entirety. Hartz products overall are not the most natural so. I like that it’s not overly scented as well. SOME shampoos are HEAVILY perfumed and I question is that good for my pup? I started using this shampoo 12 years ago for my Akita who was highly allergic to fleas. This was the ONLY product that would calm his hot spots and give him relief. I recently tried this on my elderly hound dog who came down with some type of skin disorder after a day of hunting. I have been using this wonderful shampoo for over 10 years and have found it quite helpful in all sorts of skin problems, in particular dogs and cats with contact allergies known as atopic disease, the most common allergic skin condition seen in pets. Some of these contact allergens can be simple house dust mites, molds, grasses, trees, danders and pollens, depending upon the time of year. I find that those clients who have pets with these type of contact allergies(seen as pets with dry, itchy skin/feet or ears) benefit tremendously from regular shampooing with a product like this, up to once and even twice weekly during the bad allergy seasons for some pets. This shampoo is a natural oat grain derived product with a special type of technology in manufacturing it that can help for several days even after shampooing one time. It is moisterizing and soothing for those pets with dry and itchy skin or can be used as a maintenance shampoo in pets with normal coats. When used regularly in those pets with contact allergies, along with some of the excellent nutritional supplements from 1800petmeds including omega 3 fatty acids, and antioxidants like proanthozone, animal guardians can often cut down dramatically on their vet bills as well as sometimes the need for stronger prescription drugs or shampoos. My shiba ink has dry flaky skin. We have tried a lot of shampoos and cream rinses, nothing helped. He is on premium food with no grains to help. Poor guy itched and scratched all the time. LOVE Vet's Best Hot Spot shampoo. My dog developed seasonal allergies a few years ago and was sneezing and itching SO badly she was ripping her fur out in multiple places. She especially had bad hot spots on her front paws, where she was chewing and biting nonstop trying to ease the itchiness. There were a few times that it was so bad we ended up getting her an allergy shot from the vet, but I did not like the side effects of that shot. So one year I got the Vet's Best Shampoo after doing some research online and found this to be a life saver. It smells good and really seemed to ease and soothe her hot, itchy, irritated skin. Her skin was getting raw in some spots where she couldn't stop itching and this seems very gentle on her skin and calmed the irritation down. It is easy to use, convenient to purchase (from the local pet store) and for our small dog a small amount really goes a long way. One bottle of this will last us for years. i bought this shampoo based on the positive reviews for itchy skin issues. my min pin that has allergies,badly, on cytopoint,special diet,limited treats,flea control and limited exposure to outdoors due environmental allergies. i tried the shampoo,smell isnt over bearing, pleasent better than doggie b.o, hair soft and shiney and skin soft pliable, doesnt feel like his skin will tear or chaffing. however,two days after his bath he has dandruff on his back.so my question is for those that left positive reviews did you use the conditioner,as well as the shampoo? i only used the shampoo ,lathered,and rinsed and dried him off best i could. it seems to accomplish cleaning not remoisturize his skin, he has very dry flaky skin on back and hairloss. anyone else experience this and if so did the conditioner to the trick or move on to another formula or brand that worked better for them. i have tried quite a number of other and got tired cluttering under my sink and gave to shelter.holliaj48
This shampoo smells really good and it definitely brightens up my little guy! There's is a noticeable difference after i bath him in this. After lathering, you have to leave it on for about 5 minutes, as with all purple shampoos. I make sure to put a heavy amount on his paws and bum. These are areas that's tend to strain over time. In between baths, i clean his paws with this as well, leaving it on for 5 minutes then thoroughly rinsing. After he's all dried, he doesn't seem irritated so i believe it is NOT drying out his skin like some brightening shampoos are known for.natalie .g
I bought this originally for my nieces new and tiny miniature Dockson puppy and we ended up using it on her other mini Dockson and our poodle. It’s almost impossible to bath your dog or puppy with out them licking the water or the soap on themselves. This soap they can get distracted in licking it and it is gentle enough that it won’t hurt them a bit. *not that I’m suggesting to reward bad habits but if you bath your pets at home then you known the struggle is real!* We still use this even though they aren’t puppies anymore. The other big thing I love about this is I can wash above the neck! I am careful to protect their eyes but it’s so nice to have a shampoo that doesn’t say wash from neck down, leaving your dog still dirty. First of all, I was a bit skeptical paying the price for dog shampoo but it’s been well worth it. I’ve waited a couple months to leave this review just to see if there were any adverse side effects and am happy to say we’ve experienced none at all! My little corgi doesn’t mind it and she tends to be very opinionated on most smells. It’s lightly fragranced, lathers extremely well and a small amount goes a long way. Also, the fragrance isn’t heavily perfumed either, it smells like soap should smell ✨natural✨ You really are getting a higher quality shampoo that will last you ages. I'm not a fan of most doggie shampoos out there because they aren't always transparent about ingredients, and often there's a ton of neon colouring. This was quite a splurge for a shampoo, as my last shampoo purchase was a gallon of Buddy Wash for $60. However, it's my pup's birthday so I always get a few presents for her. My primary concern was that the fragrance would be too overpowering (dog's noses are super sensitive), but it's no more noticeable than other shampoos. I find Ouai products are very perfumey, but this is definitely not as fragranced as my human products. My goldendoodle has very high-maintenance, SUPER fine hair so I always follow up a shampoo with a bunch of conditioner. However, once this shampoo was rinsed out her hair didn't feel stripped of all moisture so I forewent the conditioner, and so far so good. I have a Golden Retriever (double coated) and wanted a shampoo that made her clean, soft, and not smell like wet dog. We've tried lots of brands but I finally pulled the trigger on this higher end brand to see if there's a difference worth the price. HUGE difference!! Her fur is insanely soft with this shampoo!! This is by far the best smelling dog shampoo I have ever smelled and I've tried literally every kind. It got my fur baby extra clean and smelling so good. The only issue I had is that it takes a lot to of soap to get a lather. If u use a little it doesnt bubble so u have to use a good amount. I paid between 4-6$ so it wasnt a bad buy. I would purchase again and I would recommend for anyone looking for a good smelling dog shampoo. Note it's only A dog deodorizer and doesn't do anything to prevent fleas just a fyistephanie.g
Nothing beats Jax n Daisy especially with my dogs allergies but I have used this particular dog shampoo in the past and occasionally still use. It’s truthfully the most natural drug store product you can put on your skin. The same goes for dogs. I read in a lot of reviews that people were disappointed that there was no fragrance to the shampoo. Some look for that to neutralize odor. That’s actually not what you would want. If you want them to smell nice, purchase a cologne for your dog. The fragrances can be very harsh to the skin depending on what it is. My new puppy has had the worst skin issues since we got him and this was so gentle and relieving to my baby. I gave him an coconut oil bath along with this and it softened his skin and coat. Got this for my poodle puppy. If you want the wet dog smell after a bath… this is the perfect shampoo. It is tear free which is good but she never smells clean after a bath. It came highly recommended but I will certainly never buy it again. I give her a bath to get rid of the wet dog smell but this shampoo doesn't lather very much so hard to tell where the shampoo is unless you use a ton of shampoo. Looking for a new shampoo…Nicole

This is better than pricey vet shampoo! I say this because our 3 year old lab mix is sensitive to the season changes and with that being said he has quite a few hotspots throughout the year. We went to the vet the very first time it happened and received some allergy meds. Now they did work in the long run (we had to give them to him for about two weeks) but it didn’t necessarily help his skin—the itching, scratching, and biting. We have had Vetoquinol medicated shampoo in the past but it’s so expensive, anywhere from $25-$35 a bottle. So I did some research on medicated shampoos and came across this one. I was skeptic because it is on the cheaper end and you know how that sometimes goes haha. Needless to say I’ve never actually had a product cost less than half the price and do what a name brand does. It cleared up his skin in a few days (using it twice a week) until the spots were gone although he did get relief the very first time we bathed him in it; which is such a wonderful thing to witness when your dog is visibly struggling. Just please don’t stop making this product and carrying it Walmart!!! We depend on it!!! So sorry I don’t have before and after photos for you to see for yourself but just buy it, you will not be disappointed plus it will save you SO much money.
My dog has been having such problems with his skin, super itchy and has always been very sensitive. He licks a lot and creates hot spots etc… After he got an infection and we had to put a cone around his head this has helped sooooo much to clear up his skin condition! I have a 5 year old pocket bully who has allergies and very sensitive skin. This shampoo gives her noticeable relief as soon as shes out of the bath. I use in conjunction with the spray they also make. They have helped tremendously!
