After getting the bike assembled, which was not as easy as other reviews state, there was a grinding noise. We took the bike completely apart and found the belt was not on correctly. It took FOREVER to get it back on. After fixing that there was an issue with the tension cable. After working on this bike for a while it is finally usable. The price is fair, but its not worth much money in my opinion. Spend a little more on a better bike. The overall look of it is good but it doesn't function properly.Brittnee

This exercise bicycle is easy to use. I had a sore knee for weeks. I noticed soreness was less after first use. I have used the bike for 2 weeks and knee pain is gone. I was away for a week and mo issues with knee. I start using it again today. This bike displays distance and calories burned. The seat and back cushion are comfortable. I bought this bike several years ago, and have been very pleased with it. I am 97 years old, stagger around with a cane, and have very little strength. This bike is good for me. It's very easy to get on and off – the seat is chair height, with a back and arms making it secure to ride. Other configurations like upright bikes and rowing machines are difficult, and those requiring you to stand are impossible for me to use without falling. I ride this bike for 30 minutes a day at a resistance setting of 5 within the range of 1 – 8, about what I remember the resistance of peddling a real bike at about 10 -15 mph to be. The bike has a very good price; it has the essentials and no more. Other than occasionally tightening a few screws, I've had no maintenance problems. I have two criticisms: (1.) The adjustment for riders of different heights is cumbersome, and (2.) The little computer displays operating time, speed, distance, calories , and something I don't understand. It is difficult to zero the display at the start of a run; I just keep punching until it eventually does, and the calorie count never zeros, but who believes it anyway. The same is a problem with the scan function – just keep punching and eventually it starts working. For someone like me who needs aerobic exercise, but is too old and feeble to go running in the park, this is a great machine.William

This review will be broken down into two parts: Installation/Delivery & use of the product. Installation/Delivery: Firstly, I am so happy to currently be a member of the Total Tech Membership. As a result, I was able to get this bike for $500. That $500 included not only the bike, but also the delivery AND installation. I ordered the bike about a week ago and set up delivery/install for Friday 1.21.22. The two guys that came to complete the bike delivery and set up were AWESOME! I think we were their last delivery on Friday as they called and said they were driving back from Sheboygan then to Green Bay to pick up bike, then up to Door County. Even though I could tell they had a LONG day these two guys were EXCEPTIONAL. They came in brought the bike downstairs and happily went to work on putting it together. They got the whole thing together and rocking and rolling in about 40 minutes (totally worth me not doing it b/c I'm sure it would've taken me much longer). They gave me a tutorial on use and took everything away. Both of these guys deserve a TEN out of TEN for their efforts & hard work (even on a late Friday night). Thanks MUCH to them Use of Product: my wife did a ride yesterday on the bike and I used it this morning before work. The product is SUPER easy to use and it is VERY VERY QUIET (you can hardly hear it running). I love that they have user profiles that keep track of your workouts and overall distances that you bike (it allows 4 profiles). This bike has a great display for your workouts and it has plenty of choices for programs. It also has a fan and though I haven't used it yet it has a USB port and speakers for listening to what you'd like (I am an ear buds kind of guy). When using the bike it is VERY comfortable (I'm 5'10') and the seat moves with ease. This was the perfect last piece of exercise equipment we needed for our basement gym and it provides a good workout without major stress on the body. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is on the fence about buying it. Schwinn has pulled a complete bait and switch on these units that to me borders on criminal. There USED to be (and is advertised) a free app that you could download to interact with these units as well as keep track of your workouts. However, that has gone the way of the dodo bird – extinct! The old app is still referenced in the owners/installation menu. The app has been removed from all app stores – no matter the device. What Schwinn has done is convert to a Peleton type structure where the app is now a subscription based service. Total money grab. If the app worked like Peleton, I could almost get behind it – not even close. There are only 3 or 4 free "rides" you can do with the new app but none are interactive to where the resistance varies based on the terrain. The app does make the video come to a halt if you stop pedaling – that's it. No matter what speed you pedal, the video just trundles along at the same speed. I did a quick review of the paid "rides" and they all said "video only" so even the paid app does NOT provide any interactive workout other than the view going by at a constant speed – unless you stop. No resistance changes, no speed changes, just a slow ride through the scenery. Also, the Bluetooth….would you expect that to link to your device and let you play music? NOPE!!! The only thing the Bluetooth will link to is the new app. I was told by Schwinn support that it would link to other apps but I tried 3 of what they recommended and no Bluetooth link unless on their app. Worthless. So, there is also a little fan on the console that has a vent similar to an A/C vent in a car. Great idea…..poor execution. The fan is mounted inside the plastic enclosure in such a way that when the air exits the front of the vent, it's blowing at a 45 degree angle and it shoots off to the left, doing a nice job of cooling your left forearm but not a whisp of air on your face. The seating position on this is also uncomfortable. The seat moves up and down at a steep angle – so much so that the instructions say to get out of the seat before adjusting. That is ridiculous. If they were being honest, they would say, "Our design is poor and you can't actually adjust the seat while seated". If you do decide to adjust the seat while actually seated (so you can tell where you need to set it – duh), you better have at least one foot FIRMLY on the pedal, ready to support most of your body weight. Otherwise, the seat will SLAM to the bottom and jam your back – yes, I did it! This is not like any recumbent bike Ive ever been on – the ergonomics just are NOT good. The angle is just not right. Excellent exercise bike at an excellent price. Free delivery was included and much appreciated that they moved the heavy box into the back room for me. Setup took about 90 minutes with assistance from a step-by-step YouTube video that made identifying parts and order a breeze (SEARCH: "Complete! Assemble Schwinn 270 Recumbent Exercise Bike") The bike is very comfortable and includes a console with lots of information and ability to setup custom programs. It's really not too bulky either and fits well along the wall of our room, so its pretty much out of the way. It has wheels in the front and a handle in the back to enable you to easily lift and move the bike. There is also a media shelf underneath the main display to hold your phone or tablet, and also a USB port to keep your device charged during your work out. The only negative thing you might have is that the Bluetooth capability is limited to using their app for downloading information about your session. You can't stream any music to its internal speakers at all. You will need to use the supplied 3.5mm input port and cable to attach to an MP3 player or phone that has a similar jack to play any music from the speakers. But you can just use your own phone or tablet along with wireless earbuds or headphones for better sound. The bike itself is very quiet when pedaling, which is nice. It has 25 levels of resistance which is plenty, and includes a heart rate monitor via the handles mounted on either side of the seat. A little nice addition is the cup holder/storage for your water bottle and/or remote control. Compare all this to the very similar (and more expensive) Nautilus R618 Recumbent bike that has almost identical features and made by the same company.BobG

This is a decent bike. The seat is comfortable and is very supportive. It really helps with my arthritic legs and I am steadily losing weight. The only con is the computer . I called the company because it was defective( the display for everything keeps going out to where only a piece or two of numbers would show, it would not let me reset any of the counters and the calories was stuck); the company sent another replacement computer. The second one is malfunctioning because of the odometer(it never resets while everything else does). Although the computer is giving me problems, the seat adjusts like it is supposed to for height, the pedal system still works well and the tension works. I think it is an ok buy thus far and I have had it since October 15, 2018.amy1

I initially began looking for the typical upright style bike, but having a back problem, I turned to the recumbent style. As my wife was looking over my shoulder, she suggested I look at one with the back-rest support on it as well. I’m glad she said something…once I got the unit assembled, and tried it out, I realized how important the back-rest was for me. I now know I would not be able to use a unit without it. It was fairly easy to assemble…I only pinched my fingers once. I was impressed with the quality of the unit…it seems to be very well made. It is very quiet during use. The online ad information didn’t say anything about a pulse rate monitor…this unit does have one, built into the handles. The seat and backrest are both comfortable. I am about five-three and had no problem fitting this equipment. I have only used it for a few minutes at this point, but am comfortable knowing that with my physical limitations, I will be able to get some exercise with this unit. My wife who is an exercise nut, and has never been a fan of stationary bikes, also likes it. I get the impression this bike is going to get a lot of use. Broken within 6 months. I bought this bike last summer. After a few months the right petal started making a weird sound like there were rocks bands in the center of machine. After a few days of the noise it only got worse. I noticed little metal balls came out of the petal and the noise became unbearable like metal scratching on metal. I contacted the company who manufactured the bike and completed a form for replacement parts. After they confirmed receipt of the form they did not respond to any of my requests for an update and have not sent the replacement part. They also have a customer service and they literally never answer the calls. Horrible customer service. Dont waste your money one this.Ana

It is hard to rate this purchase because I am both pleased and disappointed. I was excited when I saw the thak you card from the company president upon opening the box. What a nice extra touch! But sad when I found they couldn't even keep up the $10 per year domain name to let you know their app is defunct. And of course there is the realization that this company has a corner on this level of fitness equipment (owning Nautilus, Schwinn, Bowflex, and more) so why should they put forth the effort? Despite the extreme cost difference, I would have looked longer at Peloton if I'd known. But, moving past my dismay to what matters most, as a 63 year old female not in the best shape, I put the bike together myself quite effortlessly. That is not to say that it is not quite heavy at near 100 pounds, but the instructions were clear for the most part. One thing I would add is that, when installing the seat bottom, screw the two roads in at the front first, or it will be difficult (if not impossible) to line the screw holes up. In all cases, the best idea when installing multiple screws in a section is to apply all the screws loosely, then tighten all after everything is lined up for that section. As a final fuss, I wish the power cord was less flimsy/more substantial. Functionally, the bike is quiet, smooth and comfortable. The fan has little power, and this is a big deal because wouldn't it be wonderful to feel the wind in your hair as you ride, almost real IF THERE WERE AN APP to elicit the illusion. Rant over, I expect to appreciate the bike this year, and next year if I've done well with goals I may upgrade for more excitement.Deborah

Believe the bike is ok, but never really tried to use it due to shipping damage. The packaging is poor and the Styrofoam breaks down during shipping. I returned the first bike due to damage and ordered a second. Same issue with shipping. Damaged box on front door. Nautilus really needs to improve the packaging. I use it in the winter to compliment my good weather riding on my outdoor recumbent. It is very smooth riding and has more than enough resistant levels. The one problem I have with it is the difficulty moving it from room to room (living room TV watching to storage in spare bedroom). I have a bad back and can't lift it onto it's casters, so I improved it by adding four casters (on the ends of the stabilizers). They are 2 in. rubber casters (two fixed and two locking-swivel). The bike is still very stable, even on hardwood floors. Even for people with good backs, it is much easier and safer to move around. It takes more room to store, but it's not a deal breaker for me.none

Just got this bike so I could watch TV or IPad while exercising lazily. Im a 68 year old woman living in a small space and it’s great for my situation – sturdy, easy to adjust, quiet, easy to fold up (with practice) and move to my bedroom when people are over. Also easy to assemble if you take your time, look at the pictures in the manual carefully and make sure all the bolts are tightened well. Haven’t tried the electronics yet. Only negative is I can’t adjust it long enough for my leg length. I’m 5’10” but with long legs and bad knees so I have my knees bent more than I’d like when riding it. This bike is super cool! Doesn’t take long to assemble( I had a young man to help me! All set up in just over an hour ). It fits all the description it claims: quite light to move about; seat height is good for 5 foot and 5 foot 10 individual, and the computer screen to keep track of your exercises. The upper arms strings are very useful. An senior of 70years of age, I like being challenged by this bike, it has different tension you can adjust /play with! Love this investment, especially at this time of pandemic and cold weather, I still can exercise in the comfort of my home . I only used it for a few time and thoroughly enjoyed the “ride”!! My husband is having health issues so I had to get this into the house from the deck, open the box, carry the pieces upstairs to the bedroom/work out room & then put it together. I was able to carry the box into the dining room, open it & get the various pieces upstairs. Assembling it was a piece of cake, although my husband did have to point out what tool I needed to use. Fortunately, the tools came with the bike so I didn't have to rummage around a lot of his tool boxes for the correct tools. I love this bike. I am able to raise the seat easily & change from one bike position to another. I am using it in the recumbent position because that's the only position my husband can use right now & I don't want to have to remember to change the position every time I use the bike. My only complaint is the back rest. I wish it was adjustable. One other reviewer wanted the back rest higher because she was taller. I'm short & would like the back rest lower. I have to wedge a small pillow behind my back because the back rest kills my back. Since I typically do at least an hour a day, the back rest is important to me. Can't say anything about the app. I read while using the bike so I'm not sure I will ever use the app. I'm glad I saw this presentation. At the time, I had to stop the treadmill because of a very sore foot. I have continued on the bike while waiting for the foot to get better & will probably end up alternating the bike & treadmill once my foot is better. This bike was well worth the money & even my husband can use it for very short periods of time. He was unable to use the treadmill so this gives him a little bit of exercise each day. My biggest issue with this bike is that you can't return it to Walmart. You have to disassemble and repackage it (!) then ship it to Plumstruck, so order carefully. My second problem was that it's just too short for my height, 5'9", and leg length, 34" inseam. It was very uncomfortable to pedal even with the seat at full height. Otherwise, this bike works well and was fairly easy to assemble. The instructions were excellent, but there is quite a bit of assembly. I liked the adjustable tension feature. It has no resistance without the tension belt adjustment. It's also a great compact size and weight to be able to move easily. With the great price, I'm really sorry it didn't work for me. Now I'm even sorrier that I didn't buy it somewhere else with a simpler return arrangement.JanK

The directions where confusing and misleading the washers for the arms where not instructed correctly became frustrating, also the bike came with a defective bearing and it wore out in about 20 hours of use and now makes annoying noises. I guess you either get lucky or you don't with these cheap products, pick wisely. I'm very disappointed how does such a thing happen to me and not others unless the parts are not tested then slapped on there for failure, I don't know you get the idea.Michael

I am on a weight-loss journey and miss my 1990's AirDyne fly-wheel exercise bike. This one comes close to what I was used to back in the day. It's simple; no extra bells and whistles. Was easy to put together and doesn't take up alot of space in my home office where it's parked. The read-out of kind of small, but it gives times, distance and calories burned as well as how fast you're going. So, that's everything you need! Resistance belt is easily adjusted. It's very sturdy. The only thing I do not like about it is the middle section that you have to step over to get on the thing. It's very high for a shorter person to get over.tmtalbot

I usually don't bother with reviews but wanted to do one here since there's so little info to be found on the C7 (loads on the C6 though!). I bought this bike to use as a peleton alternative with the peleton app. The bike is a great bike. I've ridden outdoor bikes a lot (road and mountain) but never really went to the indoor bikes until this. I have been pleasantly surprised. The seat is actually very comfortable, especially with bike shorts. If you're not used to sitting on a bike seat then of course it'll feel weird, but you let butt gets used to it. This thing is super quiet and easy to use, easy to adjust resistance, easy to connect Bluetooth. It's a little difficult at first rising with the peleton app because of trying to figure out resistance levels. Even the 'conversion charts' online don't feel like they're accurate. My only real complaints about it is the water bottle holder should be set further back to avoid hitting your knees on it (there's lots of complaints about this with the c6, which is basically the same bike without the console). The screen is quite small to use as your entertainment or spin class but it's perfect for using as manual mode for the metrics during a peleton class (which I watch on my tv).KC

I am so so happy with this bike. I am 75 and put the bike together by myself in about an hour. Directions are really clear; take your time and enjoy the process of putting it together. Bike is so quiet and very smooth ride. Love the scanner that includes heart rate, miles, calories, time peddling. The bike is really sturdy and fits in an 18 inch square space when closed. Very easy to close and open. Yes, pull the pin to open and close the bike……there are two holes that line up for open and close position. The seat is also really comfortable. If you are trying to decide whether to buy or not, I recommend you buy it. It is really worth every penny and your body will thank you for helping it stay healthy.woffette

In response to P65 for consumers . . .it's a warning label such as don't use a curling iron while in the tub, or consume paint chips. "Should I worry about Prop 65? Probably not. The Prop 65 label is like a noisy alarm that rings equally loudly about smaller amounts of low-risk substances and huge amounts of potentially harmful chemicals. The labels don't say how much of the chemical is present, or how much it would really take to make a person sick." And one key word is "might"! Most items should probably have this label on it! All the toxins we purchase is outrageous-but unless you are licking, consuming, or eating the paint chips, etc. the worries should be labeled but it's safe to use. After weeks of reading "Best Of" eval's, tech info & user reviews, migrated from Cubii-style to combo hand & foot workout bike. Chose company with best guarantee policy, b/c they don't want product to give them headaches, damage their reputation. Ordering process fine. Packed well, box damage did not reach contents. Box packed firmly. Opened both ends, pushed gently with feet, contents slid slowly out. YAY, bike not fully broken down! Max 12 main parts + fasteners, knobs, pedals, not bad. Fasteners well-identified, shrink-wrapped to cardboard by type. Assembly system & instructions clear, understandable. Yes, complex (lots of parts) but less than 2 hrs. working patiently step-by-step. Easy, direct. Some people w/b done in 45 min. Threading, huge complaint for competitors, is well-made. Rear wheels functional but too tiny. Check-up steps: Only 1 cust serv question. She knew instantly: Hand pedals impossibly tight @ any setting. Easy fix, set to prevent damage to delicate parts in shipping. This should be in instructions! Now bike works perfectly for 5'7" 140# & 6'4" 220#. Easy adjustments. Comfortable leg & arm spacing. Beautiful. Stamina's 90 day warrantee inadequate imho, but better than most inexpensive bikes. I bought this for the upper body arm bike to continue physical therapy at home. The lower foot bike was a bonus. But I notice the tension sticks in both areas. The lower foot bike can loosen the tension enough for better motion, even though it still feels a bit sticky instead of flowing with smooth motion. The upper arm bike isn't loosening enough to make the stickiness of the motion negligible. I am hoping over time and use that will help. I am reviewing it first day out of the box and put together. I did notice the foot crank and hand crank attachments were both pre-greased and sticky to touch when we put it together. If I am having the same issue after a few days I will try some WD-40 to see if that makes a difference.Diane recovering shoulder physic

I use this exerciser to regain the strength and stamina I lost during the covid-19 pandemic. I don't have much space, and I was looking for a small unit. It arrived in one large box. Before opening the box, I asked for email instructions to assemble it. Hammacher Schlemmer responded within the hour, and I read the directions a few times before opening the package. My son-in-law helped me complete this, and he also read the instructions in advance. I spread out a quilt and brought the parts into the basement playroom. The nuts/bolts/small pieces were separated and labeled in a molded clear plastic container, so I did not have to deal with many jumbled parts. The unit was easy to put together step-by-step, I found the instructions very clear. Our only mistake was using the wrong washers in the first step, but we quickly corrected that. I tried the exerciser out and could only do 4 minutes! When I went to my health club pre-Covid, I warmed up 20-25 minutes on a stationary recumbent bike before completing the exercise machine circuit and swimming. I am glad I finally purchased this exerciser. It has been three weeks, and I can now do 20 minutes. I don't know if I will ever feel comfortable enough to return to my health club. We looked at the different stationary bikes for some time before ultimately going with this one. I wasn't worried with 'riding w/others' & didn't find a reason to have the specific shoes especially since it's 2 of us. It's quiet & the dial for resistance is smooth. Handlebars are positioned well comfortable. Seat could be a little cushier, there's a possibility to replace that part. Also, no need for a monthly subscription, which apparently you need for others to work. Overall, I am very happy with this bike & would recommend for those who are self motivated & can either watch regular tele or pull up a workout on Amazon Prime. For me, I just couldn't find the need to spend twice as much to be in the 'in crowd' riding what everyone else is, but that's how I roll! I bought this bike from Dick's about six months ago. I use it almost every day and am quite happy with it after a few additions and modifications. First, the few negatives: I modified the water bottle holder so that it is more forward to avoid hitting the bottle when standing. I swapped the pedals that came with the bike for SPD pedals which work with my mountain bike shoes. I didn't find the JRNY app to be useful. The bike display is OK except for the cadence/RPM display. I have no idea why they use that bar rather than displaying a number. I use zwift and the bike pairs with zwift nicely and displays cadence in the zwift app along with heart rate and power. I'm not certain how the bike reports power and there's some evidence that it overstates power. I don't race on zwift and only do workouts and group rides so I'm not really too concerned about having accurate power numbers. Here are the good points: The bike is very stable and comfortable. It has lots of adjustability to fit the rider. The saddle is remarkably good for a stationary bike. The magnetic resistance is great and very responsive. The bike is absolutely silent and very smooth. The bike is a very good value for the price. It's not quite a full smart bike because it doesn't adjust resistance automatically based on changes in terrain when using an app like zwift. I don't downgrade it for that because it doesn't claim to do that. I knocked off 1 star based on the water bottle holder position and the cadence display. (I would rate it 4.5 if I had that option). This bike is made by NordikTrack and is branded as Schwinn IC4 and an almost identical Bowflex C7 which only slightly differs cosmetically. NordikTrack could easily fix those two issues. Several users reported problems with the pedals included with the bike. I didn't use them as I swapped them for the SPD when I first started using the bike.man with dog

It had FOUR things wrong with it so I had to send it back, which was a huge hassle to put it together and take it apart. 1) It didn't pedal smoothly 2) The knob to adjust the tension was positioned way too low on the bike so you couldn't read the dial. You had to bend over sideways to try to read it, made it very difficult to keep track of your tension progress. 3) The handlebars are positioned poorly. They are too low for me to reach, and and too close together so my thighs hit them. 4) The seat was extremely difficult to adjust. It was clumsy and cumbersome try ing to turn the knob underneath the seat with one hand, while trying to slide/move the heavy seat with the orher. I must say that at 71 years old I was surprised to be able to assemble the entire bike without any major issues. The only tricky part was the tension knob but that was easily remidied by watching a video on YouTube. Turns out the spring on mine was too short but I figured out that by merely spinning it several times I could easily adjust the lenth for it to fit correctly. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. Oh, and I'm actually getting my husband to use it because it's in his man-cave so he can watch tv while riding. I have to adjust the seat for him but if it gets him off of the couch, it's worth it!ChatKat

I wanted a bike to get/keep me active while waiting for warmer weather. Now that we're all stuck inside, I'm extra happy to have this bike. Took my husband maybe an hour to put it together, but it went together easily. I've had it for a few weeks now. It's easy to move and incredibly quiet… a great bonus if you want to watch tv while biking. My husband was in the next room and hadn't noticed I started riding. So quiet! There's just a "beep" when you get started, and otherwise it's quiet. Display is basic… RPM, speed, distance, time, calories, etc. Nothing fancy, but let's you see how long you've been riding and how far you've gone. I keep it on a pretty low resistance level as I'm just looking for an easy casual ride of 2-3 miles at a time. Very smooth ride. The seat is pretty easy to adjust, too. I'm 5'10" and the could still move the seat back a little further for someone a couple inches taller. Got it on sale and couldn't beat the price. I can see myself using this for a long time!Momothree

This review will be broken down into two parts: Installation/Delivery & use of the product. Installation/Delivery: Firstly, I am so happy to currently be a member of the Total Tech Membership. As a result, I was able to get this bike for $500. That $500 included not only the bike, but also the delivery AND installation. I ordered the bike about a week ago and set up delivery/install for Friday 1.21.22. The two guys that came to complete the bike delivery and set up were AWESOME! I think we were their last delivery on Friday as they called and said they were driving back from Sheboygan then to Green Bay to pick up bike, then up to Door County. Even though I could tell they had a LONG day these two guys were EXCEPTIONAL. They came in brought the bike downstairs and happily went to work on putting it together. They got the whole thing together and rocking and rolling in about 40 minutes (totally worth me not doing it b/c I'm sure it would've taken me much longer). They gave me a tutorial on use and took everything away. Both of these guys deserve a TEN out of TEN for their efforts & hard work (even on a late Friday night). Thanks MUCH to them Use of Product: my wife did a ride yesterday on the bike and I used it this morning before work. The product is SUPER easy to use and it is VERY VERY QUIET (you can hardly hear it running). I love that they have user profiles that keep track of your workouts and overall distances that you bike (it allows 4 profiles). This bike has a great display for your workouts and it has plenty of choices for programs. It also has a fan and though I haven't used it yet it has a USB port and speakers for listening to what you'd like (I am an ear buds kind of guy). When using the bike it is VERY comfortable (I'm 5'10') and the seat moves with ease. This was the perfect last piece of exercise equipment we needed for our basement gym and it provides a good workout without major stress on the body. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is on the fence about buying it. The bike (as you can see in the pictures) does not take up that much room compared to other pieces of cardio equipment as well which is a bonus.Brewerfan3

Schwinn has pulled a complete bait and switch on these units that to me borders on criminal. There USED to be (and is advertised) a free app that you could download to interact with these units as well as keep track of your workouts. However, that has gone the way of the dodo bird – extinct! The old app is still referenced in the owners/installation menu. The app has been removed from all app stores – no matter the device. What Schwinn has done is convert to a Peleton type structure where the app is now a subscription based service. Total money grab. If the app worked like Peleton, I could almost get behind it – not even close. There are only 3 or 4 free "rides" you can do with the new app but none are interactive to where the resistance varies based on the terrain. The app does make the video come to a halt if you stop pedaling – that's it. No matter what speed you pedal, the video just trundles along at the same speed. I did a quick review of the paid "rides" and they all said "video only" so even the paid app does NOT provide any interactive workout other than the view going by at a constant speed – unless you stop. No resistance changes, no speed changes, just a slow ride through the scenery. Also, the Bluetooth….would you expect that to link to your device and let you play music? NOPE!!! The only thing the Bluetooth will link to is the new app. I was told by Schwinn support that it would link to other apps but I tried 3 of what they recommended and no Bluetooth link unless on their app. Worthless. So, there is also a little fan on the console that has a vent similar to an A/C vent in a car. Great idea…..poor execution. The fan is mounted inside the plastic enclosure in such a way that when the air exits the front of the vent, it's blowing at a 45 degree angle and it shoots off to the left, doing a nice job of cooling your left forearm but not a whisp of air on your face. The seating position on this is also uncomfortable. The seat moves up and down at a steep angle – so much so that the instructions say to get out of the seat before adjusting. That is ridiculous. If they were being honest, they would say, "Our design is poor and you can't actually adjust the seat while seated". If you do decide to adjust the seat while actually seated (so you can tell where you need to set it – duh), you better have at least one foot FIRMLY on the pedal, ready to support most of your body weight. Otherwise, the seat will SLAM to the bottom and jam your back – yes, I did it! This is not like any recumbent bike Ive ever been on – the ergonomics just are NOT good. The angle is just not right. Excellent exercise bike at an excellent price. Free delivery was included and much appreciated that they moved the heavy box into the back room for me. Setup took about 90 minutes with assistance from a step-by-step YouTube video that made identifying parts and order a breeze (SEARCH: "Complete! Assemble Schwinn 270 Recumbent Exercise Bike") The bike is very comfortable and includes a console with lots of information and ability to setup custom programs. It's really not too bulky either and fits well along the wall of our room, so its pretty much out of the way. It has wheels in the front and a handle in the back to enable you to easily lift and move the bike. There is also a media shelf underneath the main display to hold your phone or tablet, and also a USB port to keep your device charged during your work out. The only negative thing you might have is that the Bluetooth capability is limited to using their app for downloading information about your session. You can't stream any music to its internal speakers at all. You will need to use the supplied 3.5mm input port and cable to attach to an MP3 player or phone that has a similar jack to play any music from the speakers. But you can just use your own phone or tablet along with wireless earbuds or headphones for better sound. The bike itself is very quiet when pedaling, which is nice. It has 25 levels of resistance which is plenty, and includes a heart rate monitor via the handles mounted on either side of the seat. A little nice addition is the cup holder/storage for your water bottle and/or remote control. Compare all this to the very similar (and more expensive) Nautilus R618 Recumbent bike that has almost identical features and made by the same company.BobG

It has been almost 5 months, 1.4 million meters/860 miles, over 50 hours of ride time and I couldn’t be happier with my BikeErg! I have been tweaking the fit and also made a couple of changes since my first review. The first is replacing the saddle with a Selle Italia Turbo saddle, which you can see in one of the attached pictures. While the padding on the original saddle is very comfy, I opted to go with a different one for two reasons. One, the original saddle felt a bit bouncy to me and two, I wanted a saddle with an upsweep on the tail, which the original one doesn’t have. While changing the saddle I also realized that I needed to make a correction to my original review. The black cap at the top of the seatpost where the saddle sits does allow you to adjust the tilt angle, which I didn’t think was possible before. Ridges inside that piece allow you to set the step angle for the front and rear of the cap independently to change the tilt of the saddle. There is actually a video on the Concept 2 YouTube channel titled Concept2 BikeErg Tips: Saddle Adjustment, which explains this. I have also been using ErgData for the last couple of months to immediately upload ride results. I had an old iPhone 6 sitting in a drawer, which is now dedicated full time for this purpose as you can see in one of the attached pictures. The other benefit of this, which I absolutely love, is that the Concept 2 data can be linked to the Garmin Connect app for my watch and as soon as that upload from ErgData is finished it shows up on the app with a really nice graphical analysis of your ride. I’ve also attached a couple of screenshots of the Web page and phone app showing the results of my sprint workout today. If you are considering one of these I would highly recommend it. RodRodQ_2

Owned this for over a year. Beats the c___ out of every other stationary bike out there. Less than half the cost of a Peleton, better than a WattBike and just as useful with a couple of minor upgrades. My Div1, top 10 rowing program daughter convinced us to get this. I had rowed D1 at college when Concept 2 released the Model B rowing machine – the first real, ball busting, lung burning, muscle cramping off-season workout device. The rowing machines are built like a tank, you can see people today trying to sell Model B’s on Craigslist for more than they retailed for 30 years ago! Have owned a Model C rower for 15 years with millions of meters on it replacing only the read out device. Everything Concept 2 makes is completely over-engineered and designed to take Olympic-level stress for decades. Turns out the bike erg is no exception. It’s not the same as a spin bike, and certainly not an assault bike. Whatever they did with the belt mechanism for the flywheel it seems to put greater load on your thighs and just slow burns them throughout a workout turning them to jelly. My daughter has top of the line WattBikes at her boathouse, but the BikeErg is the go-to bike. Her coaches have seen more benefit using BikeErg sessions (intervals,sprints, long pieces etc) than other bikes. And they’ve compared a bunch. The BikeErg is a belt driven, flywheel bike. Resistance is varied by changing airflow into the flywheel manually. Same principle Concept 2 has used on the Rowing and Ski Erg machines since 1990. This creates a resistance pattern that works your legs throughout the down push when cycling. From the top to the bottom of the pedal turn. That’s what creates the unique burn. It’s as though you are constantly working up a very slight incline. The other unique part of any Concept 2 device is the Performance Monitor (PM5). It was the first accurate, reliable power meter commercially produced. Back in 1990 it was a quite revolution. It took the rowing community a decade to figure out how it could be used to enhance training. I’ve seen people complain the design looks outdated, why can’t it be a touch screen, it can’t show this or that etc. Bottom line is that it’s a way more open system than any other product out there. You can download a system update to set your workouts in calories, distance or time for all the CrossFitters. It syncs reliably to heart rate monitors (polar, whoop, Garmin etc), it can hook up to multiple different apps including ErgData from Concept 2 that can display and store a wide variety of power parameters. You can upload workouts to TrainingPeaks with ease if that’s your thing. To get the most out of it as a Peloton beater there are couple of easy upgrades you need – pedal clips $15. You can replace the pedals and seat if you want. I like to wear sneakers when I ride. – Idevice holder. Motivation helps with Zwift, a monthly Peloton subscription, or movies for long rides. We experimented with a bunch of options before combining a $15 SmallRig padded clamp with an easily adjustable rock-solid iPad holder $20 – Water bottle holder Clamp $10 You could go cheaper, but it won’t be as solid. I’m 6’5” 250, my daughter is 6’1” 170, my son is a 6’8” 290 footballer player. The BikeErg is adjustable for all of us and solid enough to handle my son doing sprint workouts (he’s broken seats and pedals on cheaper bikes in his high school weight room). What it can’t do. The quibble you will hear (not mine since I know what the machine is designed for) is that it can be awkward to adjust the resistance during a workout. That’s not really how Concept 2 machines are designed to work. The vast majority of people should set the fan so they can work comfortably at 60-80 rpm for 30 min. Normally about 3-4. Increased effort happens through increasing your cadence. It’s not really designed to easily mimic a bike going uphill. You can’t go wrong buying this BikeErg. If it’s not for you it will sell on Craigslist in 5 min for close to retail price.DrAmBer

I wanted to buy a bike that would help me lower my blood sugars. I live in a cold and snowy climate so during the winter you can not get out much for exercise. And I did not want to join a gym. So I researched upright stationary bikes. This one came up as one of the good ones. Things I like are the weight limit worked for me, Sturdy even if I get moving fast, quiet, and has some pre-programmed settings. The one thing that could be worked on is learning how to use the program settings and all the bike does. I had to google youtube and watch people's videos to understand the settings. I did order a seat thinking it was a bigger seat for the bike and it was the same size. In the description, I assumed it was an upgraded seat . I will keep it though because if there is one thing I think will break down it will be the seat, as I am not a small person.Exercise wont kill me

I looked at the full range of exercise bikes ranging from $150 to $3000. I was looking for something similar to the ones I have used at health clubs in the past (in the cardio area not the spinning rooms). Nothing fancy, just one that offers simple workout routines with various workout levels and tracks your calories, distance, etc, doesn't require a tablet or phone, and doesn't break the bank. Ive had this bike for about 6 weeks now and this is exactly that. It's well built, comfortable, easy to use, compact, light and easy to move around, and affordable. If you are looking for a spinning style bike with a weighted fly-wheel (ie Pelaton), this is not it. If you need live instructors or virtual rides on a large built-in screen, this is not it (although this does connect with the Explore the World app that syncs with the machine and you can do virtual rides on your phone or tablet). If you are looking to spend a lot of money for the bike and additional monthly fees for the live workout subscriptions, this is not it. This is just a great, simple exercise bike at a great price. Also, it is easy to put together. All the tools are included and it takes about 30-60 minutes depending upon your skill level. Several people have posted Youtube videos of how to assemble it which made it even easier. At the time I bought it Target had it on sale and with the red card discount it was the best price. They also delivered it in just a couple days. I highly recommend the bike . . . if it is what you are looking for.ggsindy

I've owned this bike for less than a week. It took 3 days to ship from Walmart (was told it'd take 2 – but it's the holiday season during a pandemic, delays will happen) and it arrived in great condition. Assembly was fairly painless (took roughly 30 – 45 minutes with the "help" from a toddler – could've gone quicker without the help most likely). All required tools were packaged with the parts. Upon completion of assembly, I downloaded the Echelon Fit application and began the process of connecting / registering. The description / title of the item stated that it would come with a "6-month free membership ($120 value)" but when I created my account it only gave the option for a 1 month trial. The app registration was clunky and it seemed like you were unable to actually do it from within the mobile application (it had to be done via the web). In order to get the "free 6-month membership" I ended up having to reach out to Echelon support twice and provide them proof of purchase. The bike itself appears very solid. Peddling makes no / minimal noise and the resistance knob moves as one would expect. The seat is uncomfortable (at least to someone who doesn't normally cycle), so I would recommend buying a gel cushion or a different seat to replace it. Once connected to the app, the metrics appear to show up well. The app really could use some serious work on Android (I did not test it on an Apple device), but it's functional… mostly. All in all, it seems to be a very solid bike at $500. Had I paid more, I might be disappointed but it fits my requirements (which were being able to see resistance / cadence metrics, sturdy / durable bike that will last, and affordable).Justin

I am a regular runner, average around 20 miles a week and generally work up to around 40 a week when training for a half marathon. I bought this to incorporate cross training and replace the easy miles while keeping the quality runs. So I am new to spinning, not new to fitness and cardio. After 3 rides, I am impressed. Like many others, I find the seat uncomfortable while riding, but I am pretty certain that is just because I have not regularly ridden a bike in several years, so I need to get used to it. If I remember right, I had the same issue adjusting back when I did ride. So, you can buy a different seat, but you probably just need to adjust. I have no issues with the pedals, I know some people prefer clips and replace these pedals that come with cages, but they are just fine for me. The app is pretty easy to use, and the 6 month free access to on demand classes feels like a great deal. I have not done a class because I am following a structured plan and own a heart rate monitor, but Ive heard good thing from my brother-in-law who recommended this bike while I was researching options. I was a little concerned about the 32 levels of resistance compared to Pelotons 100 levels, but I find myself riding between resistance levels 15 to 22 to hit my target heart rate. I feel like I am long way from needed a level 32 resistance.Jason

The bike is solidly built, easy to set up, pedals nicely and has sufficient adjustability for me. On the downside; I did not find the seat comfortable – I have a lean build with narrow sit bones and I sink into the seat so much it squeezes my man-parts. The pedals require two hands to adjust. I am used to exercise bikes at the gym where I can sit down and reach over with one hand to pull the adjusting strap tight. The water bottle holder doesn't easily accommodate a larger bottle. The written instructions about signing up for the app are incorrect. And, Echelon make it hard to simply establish an account for free (freestyle rides) without paying for a subscription. The small wheels used to move the bike are made from a very hard plastic and have a narrow profile so when moving the bike it left small indentations in my red oak hardwood floor. Fortunately the bike accommodates a standard wheel used on many inline skates, skateboards, etc. So, I swiped a couple of soft wheels with a wide profile form my kids roller blades and that solved that problem. Lastly, if you are a taller rider be cautious. I am 6 feet tall with a slightly longer than normal inseam and I adjust the bike seat to position 14 or 15. There are 16 positions. Each position is about 9/16 of an inch. And, if I could add one item to my wishlist it would be more adjustability on the handlebars; a bit more height and a forward-and-back adjustment would be nice. In summary, the bike is good and I do recommend it, but it does require some tweaks.Thomas

I was inclined to leave a review because many of the low reviews complained about the same things: 1. To reviewers who said their knees hit the handlebars, you need to adjust the seat back! This is a recumbent bike, not a stationary bike. I’m 6’1, have longer legs, and had no issue with my knees hitting the handlebars after I adjusted the seat. Seat adjustment was very easy. 2. Some complained about the batteries being difficult to install. They are definitely a snugger fit but I was able to pop them in without any issue. 3. The instructions were extremely straightforward and the bike was easy to assemble. Took me about two hours from unboxing to finishing the assembly, and that was because in haste I read a couple of the steps incorrectly and had to go back. Overall very happy with this purchase.Stephen

DO NOT BUY!!! Ok, I had this bike for ten months using it to rehab from a hip surgery. at the onset the ride was nice. I am only 180lbs so well below the weight class recommended. After 10 months the bearing broke inside and it slipped and made noise. I had purchased the extended warranty BUT they gave me the runaround and it took 5 months to get it fixed. The repairman said these bikes aren't built to last. SO DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTYAnthony

I really like this bike and recommend purchasing. I did a lot of research and given the current environment and went ahead with this bike. It is very comfortable. (I am 58.) I was looking for a bike with a comfortable seat and I am glad I decided on this one. The seat is very comfortable with good support for the back. It is compact enough and fits nicely in the corner I set aside in my home office. I found a nice mat to fit under that is the exact dimensions of the bike. I don't have a fancy tv screen, but this bike has a nice space for my Ipad or iphone so I can watch tv, check emails, listen to music and any other app I decide to engage. I also have found a couple of great virtual bike rides on YouTube like Mt. Zion in Utah. Great buy!! Some assembly is required. I did read in the reviews about the news bumping against the handlebars. This happen a couple of times, but it is not a big problem at all. It has several workouts built in as well as various resistance levels for a more challenging workout. I can work up a good sweat in 30 minutes on my bike even at the lower resistance levels. I am very glad I made this purchase and decided on the recumbent model.KK
