Best Toners For Brassy Hair (2023 Update)

I don't normally leave reviews, but this one deserves one. My hair had a balayage in December that was pink originally. I'm naturally dark brown, so we only needed one round of bleach to get it to the right level for it to be pink. I then decided to let the pink fade out and transition to a corn blonde – quite warm, quite golden. I bought these drops as a way to knock out some of the brassy and orange tones I was seeing between going to the salon. Because this toner is supposed to make your hair white, it has blue and purple in it, which is perfect – better than a blue or purple shampoo. I love that you just mix it with your conditioner. I usually do an Olaplex 3 mask before, then wash it, then condition with the toner every weekend. It takes some trial to get the right intensity. I started with 4 drops, which was a bit more subtle, then went for 6, which left me with a lovely golden blonde – my hair isn't bleached enough for it to go white. There are still some coppery tones, but I suppose that's because different parts of the hair will react to the toner differently. I also don't hate it – it's like having hints of strawberry. Highly recommend for mid-blondes looking for purple or blue shampoo alternatives.Em

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, having read the reviews I was excited. It is extremely easy to use. I applied a week ago, I added 8 drops rather than the recommended 6 as I'd put more conditioner in than was needed. The resulting colour was much darker than expected however still a lilac shade (perhaps more blue tones than pink). It does not take on all of the hair, so mine ended more like highlights (which i was disappointed in as wanted whole hair lilac so knocked a star off), however this also happens when the hairdressers does their lilac toner on my hair. I've washed my hair twice and it has faded quite considerably and the result has made the colour look patchy(so another star knocked off). The good points are it's extremely easy to use, and much less messy than other brands. I think it would also be possible to mix your own colours too, so I will buy one of the pinks next time and add 1 drop to see if it achieves the actual lilac tone I had wanted.Hannah66

I spent ages trying to figure out which toner to get following an over-bleached half head balayage, which had left my hair a combination of yellow and white on the top, and with a huge contrast between my brunette natural colour underneath. Having explicitly asked for a warm dark blonde, I was on the hunt for something which would make my blonde hair a bit darker and also add a nice tone to it. I was drawn in by the other reviews referring to this toner being great on over-bleached hair which was either white or yellow, transforming hair into a honey/caramel-blonde – which is what I had asked the hairdresser for. I was half tempted to go back to another hairdressers and pay for a toner but with the cost of living crisis I thought I'd give this a go. I used 4 drops with my normal conditioner, left it on for 10 minutes and honestly there is already a huge huge difference – the tone is so nice and I'm FINALLY happy with my hair colour. I'll keep using this – and will probably try adding more drops next time to see what happens. I never leave reviews but given how many hours I sunk into trying to figure out what to buy – and nearly spent £30 on something else – I thought I'd leave some details in case it helps shorten the search for someone else in my predicament. This toner adds cooling neutral tones to any blonde for a soft finish. This can be used with and hair type or texture that contains blonde. The instructions are easy to use and there is no chemical smell which is a huge plus. There is plenty of product to use whether you have short or long hair. It's easy to use and the wait time is short. Also while the product is on there is no dripping or burning of any kind. Its fast to wash out and leaves a flowery smell behind. When finished the hair is visibly softer and light to the touch. However for me the only problem I had was it left my hair a lot drier then before I started. My hair did turn out softer and I did notice a slight change in my hair color. Overall it's a pretty straight forward product that's accessible to anyone. I have been using box dye for over 20 years and have done a lot of trial and error. If your hair is light brown/blonde or you have already dyed it and are trying to fix it – it will not work. This is for blonde hair not to fix hair dye gone wrong. You need a lift for that usually, and each individual hair types responds a little differently. Toner sits on top and enhances and usually deepens/softens the existing color (or dye that is already there). It really does help with reddish or strawberry tones which my hair really goes to when I dye it. I am a dark blonde with hidden strawberry/red under it that comes alive with regular dye. This product is amazing. I use the 8UA as a base(darker rooted base) and add highlights. Then I go over it with this to blend it all out. It turns out like a really expensive salon visit. I get a lot of compliments. It takes a few steps, but it is so pretty and worth it.JaninSF

This toner makes my hair shiny and Took my box blonde result of orange/yellow blonde to a beautiful cool toned blonde. I have used this toner 3 times and 2 of the 3 uses I loved the outcome. Note I used different brands of box color so that’s why different outcomes. The 3rd time it toned it to a darker ash but it was still better than what the box dye looked like. Plus after a few washes the darker ash blonde lightened up so it is still great product. I Absolutely recommend this. Matrix Influenster gifted us this product trio to combat brass in exchange for our honest review and they really work! Especially the toning spray is a new concept of a leave in option for brassy hair! Dog doesn’t have much brass but as a professional hair stylist I was able to try these out on a few clients and the results were great! The blue counteracts more of the deeper level blondes brassy orange tones than traditional purple shampoos that counteract the lighter tones of brassy yellow! Did not tone down the brassiness as desired — also it was not a dark indigo blue as expected, more of a very very light grey-blue, which leaned toward a regular white or off white conditioner. The scent, meh. Any added shine, no. Did not really condition as expected, hair felt dryer but limp at the same time, no body at all. This product worked very well with the purple shampoo I have at home. My hair had tones of yellow and brassiness so I also bought the Purple Toning Conditioner. They worked very well together. I would switch conditioner for every time I washed my hair. I have to say I didn't think the product would be effective, but I'm glad I went ahead and bought it. I had to make sure my hair was as blond as possible before I applied the Rose Gold Conditioner. I was surprised with the results. & very happy and satisfied with them as well! There's something about oVertone products that has such a soothing smell to them, I don't know what they have going on in the lab, but keep it up, thank you! & lets not forget what its suppose to do, condition! Was not so impressed with these toners, I had very red hair and have been fading it out for the last two months by doing a 5 minute bleach wash and a series of shampoo mask. What I had left was a reddish/blond base with a few lighter blond highlights. First I purchased the green toner to tone down the remaining red and then started using blue for the more orange blond hues. My hair actually looked more orange afterwards and any blond highlights were pretty much gone. I left the toner on for varying times hoping for different results, but it’s kind of meh. I do like it conditioned my hair so well, that said I could have used colorless conditioner for that 🤷🏻‍♀️Isis S.

Being that I color my hair blonde a lot I'm no stranger to purple shampoo and conditioner pretty much anything that removes brassy colors I am all for. I loved the creamy nourishing purple treatment cream, it reminded me of an expensive hair mask I'd buy to help tame/tone the orangish shades. So I used a bleaching kit for that platinum blonde look. My results were a little too brassy, more in some spots than others. This anti-brass treatment has truly helped! Things actually turned out better than I had expected when using this conditioner. I absolutely love the ingredients. I feel the oils infused in this did wonders for my hair. I love the smell, and that it's purple in color. I didn't need a big amount to apply to my long hair. I am very impressed with this, and happy to have been sent a sample. So I've been a blonde several times in my life. Each time I've dyed my hair blonde, I'd soon realize the stress of managing the bright vibrance of the initial color. I am a professional stylist and would run across other dyed blondes (Both Male and Female) who would have the same issues. This product not only worked on my 4c naturally coily hair, but also on a male clients super straight hair. Granted, this model/actor only sported blonde tips for an ombré effect, he still allowed me to test the product out on him before a shoot. His hair went from this unruly brassy mess, to a tamed perfectly moisturized coif afterward. *I'll add in some close ups so that you can see for yourself* Every Stylist understands that purple shampoos and conditioners neutralize the warm shaded base of blonde hair types and hides brassy tones that often sneak up after one or two washes. This product is no different in that aspect. The only noticeable difference is that it actually leaves kinker more coily hair manageable and vibrant for days on end in comparison to it's more expensive competitors. ***I wish that we would've had longer to test the product before having to give a review. I have a show right around the corner and I would've have loved to see how well this product held up when it comes to runway/stage lighting. Perhaps look into more in depth reviews with extended timing or more questions for professionals. Key Notes: 3C and higher Hair Types will have to use more of this product to really notice a difference in comparison to straighter hair types. If you use heat (not direct but a blow dryer ) after applying this product you can achieve softer more longer lasting results. Straighter Hair Types need to really be careful how often they use this product because it seems to weigh down hair over time. *Honestly – Anti-Brass Treatment is nothing more than a glorified purple based conditioner. I have had blonde hair for a very long time and got a crazy idea to dye it black. I regretted it soon after. I research the internet and got depressed from what I heard. Seemed like it would be impossible to go all the way back to blonde or it would take forever and not without damage. I first used the professional bond building premium lifting power and got my hair to light orange and yellow. I then used the steel blue and I was shocked this stuff is crazy good! I am 90% white. Just easy spraying and blow drying creates a delicate pastel lavender that is so flattering and exciting. People complement me on my hair and want to know how I got such a perfect tone. If you want subtle use a little. Make it intense by using it on dry hair. Can't wait to try the strawberry. It has a lovely light fragrance that won't make you nauseous like those cheap spray cans. I think it will last a long time. I use the color enhancing shampoo. Love it. I recieved the shimmer lights an cool beige toner for testing purposes from Influenster. Ive been using at home hair color for 2 years so I decided to test this out. The instructions givin to me in my kit were not the best. So I started with the measurements given to me … it was not enough product to cover all my air. I realized this after covering the front first, my hair quickly turned orange an since the back of my head wasn't covered enough I rinsed it out after being in for 15 mins. Thankfully they did include enough product to re apply, after looking up better instructions I tried again. The color results were much better but faw from perfect. This whole process took hours an lots of showers to complete. The side effects included very dry brittle hair. I used a few repair kits an a hair cut helped. I recommend looking up the directions from the company.krista.s

I received the Shimmer Lights Lightening System from Influenster in exchange for my honest opinion and I am very grateful they sent it to me! I ended up doing a few highlights in my hair with the plex lightener, cream toner, and the plex treatment and am incredibly impressed with the results. The products were all easy to use and the last time I used any bleach my hair was absolutely fried but with this system my hair still feels healthy! I would say the only downside is that the toner I got is very cool toned and I have warm undertones and they only had three color options on Sally Beauty but if they had more shades I would give five stars in a heartbeat! I have thick, wavy blonde hair that is colored (I'm naturally a really dark/dishwater blonde now) and some purple stuff does NOT work on my warm hair. It's stubbornly warm. I mixed a few pumps purple conditioner with 3 drops of these drops and worked it through each section of hair. And I have a lot of hair, so I used a LOT of purple conditioner + these drops. I applied it to dry hair and let it set about 40 min or so. Then I washed with clarifying shampoo and conditioned it really well. Adding the purple drops to the purple conditioner was an amazing pre-wash hair treatment which made my hair so silky… AND it really toned my hair! I can't believe how cool toned it is now! WHY ISNT THIS LIKE GOING VIRAL YET???? Hands down the best stuff I’ve ever used as far as the purple products go. This is the way to make your hair completely brass free- Take a squirt bottle and pour in a little leave in conditioner. Then put this stuff in. No exact measurement, just whatever you feel is right and soak your hair, put it back in a bun and let it stay in there for as long as you possibly can. And to be honest I even put the stuff straight into my hair by itself with some places and a day and a half later take it out rinse it out and go about my wash routine in the shower and holy crap. I was not expecting this. I’ll never buy anything else ever again to make the brassy tones go away. I’m sold.Jessie

I wanted to love this product so much but it had a major design flaw. Unlike a shampoo or conditioner where you saturate your hair completely, this is a styling product which is impossible to distribute evenly to every strand unless you soak your hair in it. The pigment is amazing and definitely neutralizes all yellow tones, but even when applied to a carrying product, it's still impossible to distribute evenly. The moment it hits your hair it neutralizes the yellow, so you end up with white (or purple) strands mixed with yellow. If you comb your hair in attempt to distribute it, it's too late. And if you add more product to specific sections in attempt to even it out, you can very easily end up with purple patches. The only way I could see this product being used is if you added it to your shampoo or conditioner. I do give the company respect for marketing this though, as I haven't seen pigment drops elsewhere.laura.m

As many of us, during the lockdown, I get bored and try to dye my hair grey. At first, I just dye it without bleaching and didn't turn out well. After the bleaching I got horrible yellow undertone and then I order this product. Now I have beautiful dark blonde dye with greyish tone, Wella did miracle and kill 90% of yellow. Product is easy to use, smell is quite harsh and hair is quite dry after using it – just use good Keratine mask after and don't use product on very dry/damaged hair. But overall result is great. I just order it again, because I can't buy it in my Country . Let me start by saying that I'm not a professional. Have I dyed my hair 10 billion times sure. But just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it's necessarily the product's problem it could be operator error. So I've been going through the internet trying to find any possible way to get my hair white most of it's white part of it's white okay. The top layers wait and to be honest with you I'm not entirely sure how I got it to white. I was told to use while I t18 with a 20 volume developer which I purchase is Sally's. My One Stop shop for all of my hair dying needs. And I'm not mad at it I'm just not convinced that this is the product for me for the desired outcome that I'm looking for. Aside from that being that it is chemical I'm going to suggest using a hair mask after using other than that damage is minimal. But like I said everybody's different however my hair is taking quite to beat me and although I got it cut it has not fallen out yet.sarah.m

These toners work well but they smell awful! Beware of that. They're also really runny and they go dark really quickly so you'll want to get this product all up in your hair as quickly as possible. The best way I've found to do this is by making a toning shampoo: mix the toner and developer, then add a few capfuls of shampoo (you can add some water too if you want to make it runnier), then hang your head over the sink and lather it in quickly. You'll want to watch your hair to see how fast it is developing. You might only need 5 minutes or you might want 15. Just keep an eye on it! I used a mix if T18, T27, and the cooling violet 050 on freshly bleached level 8-9ish hair and it toned beautifully. I later switched to using the permanent gel with a low developer as I found it easier to apply to roots only and the colour lasts longer. But if an all-over quick toning job is what your after, this is it.member-b7e4b

After dying my hair with bleach twice I achieved very light orange near roots and a bright yellow over the rest and white at the very ends of my hair. It looked a mess i was going to buy a proper toner but was worried about damaging my hair. This product is a life saver. You must follow the instructions correctly using a clarifying shampoo is a must. After the first use I had achieved a lovely baby blonde apart from at the root which was still slightly yellow. So I re did the treatment again straight after and WOW. Not only is my hair in amazing condition but I have glossy white hair. The smell is also amazing. This product will only get better the more you use it so don't give up hope after one go if it's not what you want. Will be stocking up on this product. It works better than any other toner I'v tried (and that's a lot) including wella toners mixed with 20vol. love this range and will be trying other colours out soon.Jessica123123

I wish I'd checked the online reviews before grabbing this in store on a whim. I know its a toner, and had hoped to use it to knock out the brassy tones in a full head of highlights. Didn't do this, nor leave any kind of pink/rose tone to my hair. There's a couple of patchy streaky tinges of lilac/blue, fortunately nothing that sticks out. Followed the instructions, using a clarifying shampoo and applying to towel dried hair. All of my hair care is silicone free so should have been nothing to interfere with the product. Very heavily scented which doesn't really bother me, but someone sensitive to perfumes would probably detest. Has also left my scalp itching. Disappointednyx88

Hello, I've had a great experience with this product because of the following reasons: a) it is easy to comb through as it is a conditioner based product, I am happy to not have straw like hair b) sectioned so some parts were on longer than other parts so roughly fifteen to twenty minutes taking time, give or take from sectioning it's hard to clockwatch every single strand correctly but sectioning worked better than the simple lather on hair dye which I do constantly, toners make for better sectioning because box dye isn't a sectioning dye like in a hairdressers. The toner, however, that is. So.. remember lather and dye, section and tone. c) the results have left a soft, beautiful shine d) the price was reasonable e) finally, only had to use one box on long, very thick hair which hasn't been damaged by this product at all Negatives – there aren't any However, I've noticed some people moaning about the blue-stained stress of the toner which they have struggled to get out(one woman in this section of comments said a hair salonist couldn't even figure out how to get it out and had ruined her hair), ignore this person.. what you need to do, which I have always done is buy all different colour toners.. even for brunette at some point in life, but the main two are the purple/blue toner like this one and then there's a bottle of toner shampoo which has been discontinued unfortunately, it was the provoke touch of gold because it has gold/orange pigments in which would cancel out the blue and return it blonde without going ginger, it's quite simple. They discontinued my favourite toner but not to worry because superdrugs do their own toner colourant shampoo, little small tiny bottles and you can get offers of 3 for £5 sometimes but they're not expensive individually. They're called superdrugs colour effects wash in wash out honey blonde. It is 8.03 honey blonde. It's a bit like the provoke touch of gold, except it's more orange than gold and honey but it will help you get rid of any leftover blue or grey strands in places of your hair if it doesn't match the overall places of blonde. Google this or ask a superdrug employee. Do not panic and remember, all toners are better in your cupboard. Tones are important for your hair. To get salon look, it costs half the price of a hairdressers but they last for a couple of years because you keep on top of it and refresh your hair so it is worth spending the extra money on extra toners and top ups especially pigmented shampoos. You don't need to use them everyday, but every few weeks in between normal shampoos such as anti dandruff and repair shampoos like pantene as it really does work, other conditioners are useful like pigmented conditioners. These are different from shampoos that are pigmented because the shampoos are most likely to pigment dye your hair into a toned colour because it has orange or blue in, the conditioners focus on enhancing the shine and condition, not the colour, it just emphasises the shine of the colour so don't get the two mixed up. Remember, you might have a two tone hair colour, some really blonde and other patches of orange/yellow tones so you might need to use a product like the colour freedom toner again so you will see the other patches go lighter than when the orange yellow tones are finally lightened so that's when you need honey blonde, keep using it for a couple of days then save for later days. Dye your hair more than twice before doing toners, always. And wait, one month before doing it, doesn't matter if you use toners the first time after dying but make sure you dye again and then tone. I cannot stress this enough, yes – you will be spending like twenty quid on four boxes of hair dye and then toners as well but you will see why it is good for your hair. It's backwards what they say about dye killing your hair, it does but toners will do that so you need to refresh your hair by dying it again because it will feel renewed instead of dull and lifeless because dye can also be good, though I stress that it is very bad especially bleach. It's just that you need to be vigilant and wait a month even if your hair is yellow, it will be worth it in end in terms of strengthening your hair, not damaging or ruining it and growing out your hair. Make sure you always condition. Hopefully, provoke touch of gold will be continued in shops again as they do sometimes bring them back – it's my favourite, I prefer the gold toner to the orange honey blonde and I'm gutted I can't have it. I love honey though, honey and milk, it's so kind. It makes me feel like a kind person. Calm and kind. So I hope my kindness help you discover the road to happy hair.. remember, wait out what you need to and then apply, save your products for a full year or more and you can have salon tones. I left on a little longer than the advised 15 minutes and I'm very happy with the results. My hair is light brown with highlights. I has some brass I wanted to remove and it looks much ashier now. I love this product. I have medium brown hair (with gray). So I do my roots with brown then apply the COOL BLONDE down the back top of hair. It's PURPLE so beware haha. I leave it on 15 mins. Makes my hair super soft and shiny. Gives my hair a natural blonde glow. Much better than trying to bleach in blonde highlights. It's a great product. I'm going to stock up on it. I purchased this as I highlight my hair and am looking for something to keep it bright and highlights/color looking fresh. I am actually really impressed with this product. My color looks so much better after using but my hair is also super hydrated, soft and silky. After using my husband even asked me if I got my hair done which I did not. Best purple shampoo on the market. I’ve tried Clairol, Kristin Ess, John Frieda, etc. and none of them have come close to this one. It’s a very hydrating shampoo that makes my hair feel super clean, and brightens my blonde highlights so much I constantly get asked if I’ve gotten a salon touch up recently. You can leave it on for as long or as little as you want to. I pair this with the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner and that combo is just heavenly for my hair. Highly recommendalyssa.l

I'm not going to lie when I first applied this to my hair it started to lather up, which was a little different for me, it was really soapy but it felt like that. But I let it sit in my hair anyways hoping for the best, I'm glad I did. It rinsed out easily and left my hair with no tangles and easy to brush through. It left my hair soft and shiny. Even though it has been awhile since I dyed my hair it still made it look really good and vibrant and shinny. After air drying my hair I was left with no frizz and very shinny as well as a good hair day.lori.m

Will turn hair purple! I left it in for ten minutes in my bleached blonde hair (after shampooing) and it toned it a little too well. To the point it turned into a lavender/gray tint. This did nothing for the few pieces that were orangey blonde. But worked well for the light yellowy blonde hair. It should, hopefully, wash out the purple tint with a good clarifying shampoo. I would recommend using this to anyone just don’t do past the five minutes if you’ve got bleached hair. It did make my hair super shiny and healthy looking too. Overall I’m satisfied but I wish they had an option for a dirty blonde color.. like a “bronde”. Not just the cool or warm blonde. Maybe I should try the brunette options?? Also, I have very thick long hair and used about half this tube. So most likely only will get one more use out of it. Still worth it to have a cooled down blonde. Next time my hair looks a little brassy I will leave it on for five minutes max. I miss the John Frieda Glosses they had years ago that did the same thing. I don’t know why there’s not more options for hair glosses and glazes.AFW

Was contemplating trying this for a while but was seeing mixed reviews. I eventually assumed the bad reviews were from people that just didn’t really know what they were doing… i was wrong. I have light highlighted blonde hair. I got the color Smoky bronde in hopes that it would potentially tone down my orangey yellow bronzed af hair. I used a clarifying shampoo to rid my hair of any potential interfering products/buildup, I even rinsed with a bottle of water just in case the hard water was what made this not work for people, left it on for 15 minutes despite the instructions saying 5-10 for colored hair. Rinsed it out with several bottle of water and to my surprise My hair looks no different. This is a waste of money, time, and effort. I should’ve trusted the bad reviews.Maggie

I have NEVER had issues with shampoo/conditioner up until buying this. I have tried many different cheap shampoo/conditioners, and decided to splurge a little on this product after seeing some hairstylists on social media recommend this brand. Unfortunately I have similar experiences as other low reviews on this product. I have noticed that I am shedding a LOT more hair than normal in the shower. I have also noticed after 1-2 weeks of use that my hair has started to feel greasy and heavy. It almost feels like the product did not get washed out of my hair. At first I thought maybe this was my fault that I didn’t rinse it out well. But last night I made sure to do a thorough job rinsing out my hair, and woke up with my hair the greasiest it’s ever looked after a wash. I’ve never had a product do this to my hair. The only plus is that I love the scent of these products. I hope I will be able to return this.sarah

I’ve finally found the culprit for the damage my hair has been experiencing over the past few months. I first raised an eyebrow when my stylist pointed out dandruff, which I’ve never had before. I attributed this to buildup from dry shampoo, but after reading these reviews I now know that these products have caused the buildup and flakes. I’ve also lost a TON of hair. My hair is usually thick and full of body, but now I have to use tons of dry shampoo and styling tools to get it to look presentable. I use dry shampoo right after I get out of the shower because it looks so greasy. Please do your research before using these…I wish I had! Save yourself the damage and the money!Emily B

I wanted to love this brand and especially this product, but I can't. Everything was fine until about 2 weeks in to using the shampoo and conditioner. My scalp first started getting dry and itchy, which has never been a problem for me. About 3 weeks in, excessive amounts of hair started coming out when I washed or brushed my hair. My hair wasn't falling out in clumps, but it was more than normal, causing me to be concerned about the cause. About 1 month in, there was a lot of dandruff, irritation on my scalp, and parts of my scalp were getting crusty, almost like a had massive dandruff buildup. I want to preface this that I have never had any of these problems with other brands, including other inexpensive brands, high end brands, and custom shampoo. I used other Kristin Ess product including the scalp scrub, detangler, and the scalp every day conditioner. I stoped using these products and stuck with just the shampoo and conditioner to see if my symptoms improved. My symptoms continued to worsen and I realized that it was the shampoo and conditioner causing all of my problems. I even showed my hairdresser and she thought that the brand was good because it claims to be vegan and and lacks bad ingredients. There is something in these products that caused all of my symptoms and is not good at least for my hair type. I would strongly encourage using another brand to avoid dealing with the symptoms I experienced. I am not saying you will have the same problems, but for me, it was awful. I immediately switched brands and I have already noticed a positive change after one wash using another brand. Do your research and ask your hair dresser before trying.GeorgiaPeach

I have had blonde hair for a very long time and got a crazy idea to dye it black. I regretted it soon after. I research the internet and got depressed from what I heard. Seemed like it would be impossible to go all the way back to blonde or it would take forever and not without damage. I first used the professional bond building premium lifting power and got my hair to light orange and yellow. I then used the steel blue and I was shocked this stuff is crazy good! It took all the orange out! I have never had a toner work so well. I will never use anything else. Thank you Schwarzkopf for making such an amazing product!Lisa

I am 90% white. Just easy spraying and blow drying creates a delicate pastel lavender that is so flattering and exciting. People complement me on my hair and want to know how I got such a perfect tone. If you want subtle use a little. Make it intense by using it on dry hair. Can't wait to try the strawberry. It has a lovely light fragrance that won't make you nauseous like those cheap spray cans. I think it will last a long time. I use the color enhancing shampoo. Love it. Let me start by saying that I'm not a professional. Have I dyed my hair 10 billion times sure. But just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it's necessarily the product's problem it could be operator error. So I've been going through the internet trying to find any possible way to get my hair white most of it's white part of it's white okay. The top layers wait and to be honest with you I'm not entirely sure how I got it to white. I was told to use while I t18 with a 20 volume developer which I purchase is Sally's. My One Stop shop for all of my hair dying needs. And I'm not mad at it I'm just not convinced that this is the product for me for the desired outcome that I'm looking for. Aside from that being that it is chemical I'm going to suggest using a hair mask after using other than that damage is minimal. But like I said everybody's different however my hair is taking quite to beat me and although I got it cut it has not fallen out yet.sarah.m

I can see/hear Brad Mondo screaming and cringing at T18 but I'm an ashe blonde and it REALLY does take the brassy tones out of my hair. I also have well water where we live so it does a number on my color so I'm always looking for products that won't destroy my hair or dry it out too much. These , while drying, aren't awful..I use a good hair mask and bonding treatment afterward and the brassiness is gone for a few weeks. Definitely worth a try if you're really an ashe blonde!kate.c

These toners work well but they smell awful! Beware of that. They're also really runny and they go dark really quickly so you'll want to get this product all up in your hair as quickly as possible. The best way I've found to do this is by making a toning shampoo: mix the toner and developer, then add a few capfuls of shampoo (you can add some water too if you want to make it runnier), then hang your head over the sink and lather it in quickly. You'll want to watch your hair to see how fast it is developing. You might only need 5 minutes or you might want 15. Just keep an eye on it! I used a mix if T18, T27, and the cooling violet 050 on freshly bleached level 8-9ish hair and it toned beautifully. I later switched to using the permanent gel with a low developer as I found it easier to apply to roots only and the colour lasts longer. I am stocking up on this product because I love it so much. Here's my deal: I have very long, color treated hair that, prior to the pandemic, was colored a natural looking coppery red with coppery blonde highlights. Since the pandemic, I have had my hair professionally colored exactly TWO times in 10 months so I have been looking for ways to extend my color between salon appointments. (My natural color is light to medium brown.) My current color job is over 3 months old so it was looking pretty blah and washed out. I was scared to try the copper version, thinking it might grab too bright on my highlighted strands (I have made that mistake with other products and had orange highlights that took a few weeks to tone down) so I went with the golden blonde shade. It was super easy to apply and it really did remind me of the gloss my stylist uses in the salon. I left it on for maybe 5 mins. My result was a beautifully bright, shiny, color refresh. Of course, my hair is not as red as it used to be when I had it colored at the salon (but I did not expect a red result from a golden blonde shade) but the golden warmth really mixed nicely with my reddish base and made my dull highlights a really pretty warm golden shade. I love the end result. I have all the warmth I like from red without any harsh or bright tones. I think as long as you are careful not to use a shade that is too dark or bright for your lightest/ most bleached strands, this is probably pretty fool proof. The results lasted through a good 4 shampoos and then I used it again to equally great results. I have tried other color depositing conditioners and this is the best result I have ever gotten.JJ East

I enjoy this line of in-shower gloss. Short story, my hair is bleached with dark blonde root grow out. I started mixing the platinum in-shower gloss with my conditioner after I wash my hair. I am so impressed with how little it takes to tone and the unbelievable way it leaves my hair feeling like silk. Fast forward, I realize they have a pearl shade of gloss! Same amazing smell and does a great job at adding subtle iridescent shine. I mix the gloss into my conditioner so my hair doesn’t soak up so much pigment on the more porous areas. It’s meant to be a toner, not turn pieces of hair purple. If you have darker hair that isn’t dry I doubt that would be necessary. .jessica..

I used this gloss for the first time yesterday in the cool blonde shade. I thought I'd give it a try to tone down the gold in my hair, and I was hoping to achieve a lighter/whiter shade to my hair with dark beige lowlights as my hair has both highlights and lowlights already. I used it in the shower per the instructions which said to leave on for 5 – 10 minutes for bleached hair, and I left it on for 5 minutes. When I got out of the shower and looked at my hair in the mirror soaking wet, I had an "uh oh" moment because it seemed to have a grayish cast to it… Yikes, I thought, but let me see how it looks once I dry it. Well! Once it was dry, to my…. HORROR, it was a flat, ashy, dull, grayish tone that totally sucked the life out of my hair appearance-wise, and washed out my complexion so thoroughly it would make a corpse envious. I didn't know what I should do to correct this mistake of a lifetime; initially I thought that I would just color over it with my usual haircolor that gave me the too gold color I had tried to tone down, but it wasn't root-showing time yet because I had just colored my hair the week before, so I was hesitant to do that — not only because it was too soon, but also because I was afraid of how THAT would turn out given the results of my most recent chemical experiment. I mean… would it end up turning…. Green? …Orange? …Babypoop Brown?? WHO KNOWS!? In the end I waited until the next day to wash my hair again in hopes that it would somewhat ameliorate the situation, and to my everlasting surprise, when I blew it out I found my hair had turned Cinderella-like, to the exact shade I had hoped for in the beginning!
