Best Trimmer For Back Hair (2024 Update)

I was drawn to this razor after shopping for quite a while. Good for both men and women. I like that it is light weight, the exterior material is soft and comfortable and will not slip from your hand. The balance of the unit is fanominal. The on/off button is a soft touch, the unit is quite and has a low frequency vibration. Over all I really like the unit. For younger people with taught skin it would be a 5 star product. But for those of us who are staring to age and have some sagging skin and use a blade cover, pulling to make skin taught, you tend to get harsh nicks, especially on the curves of your body. If Philips makes a unit that would address the problem I described I would Love to sample the unit. So for the overall performance of the Philips Model MG 5750 I feel obligated to score it a 4 of 5 Stars.Maple Doughnut

I chose this to replace a really old QG3364/42. I needed something with more power and could hold a decent charge. I chose the MG5750/90 because of price. With a coupon code, it was less than thirty-five dollars with free shipping. Right off the bat, I was impressed with the grippy handle. Not that my old trimmer was slippery, but this new trimmer gave me a little more confidence when holding it. It felt more solid and well built than I was used to. The motor is stronger than my old trimmer, as well as smoother, and because the mechanism doesn't rattle, just a bit quieter. This trimmer cuts my hair much easier even though it'll take some time getting used to the new guards as I haven't figured out how to get even cuts yet. When trimming at the corners of the mouth or other tough places, it can be hard to get even hair in tough spots. The only disappointing thing is there is no charge indicator light. I'd gotten used to having that featuring and didn't realize this trimmer didn't have it when I ordered it. It's not a deal breaker just something that could be on even the most basic trimmers. Other than missing a charge indicator, this is a good trimmer. It's not perfect, but I'd buy it again.bigbearsfan

This is really the best trimmer I've had. The main reason is that it doesn't cut nor hurt you while trimming. I trim my beard with it at 0.5mm, meaning without any guard. For my hair, I use 12mm and 16mm guards and the guards are solid, and cutting my hair works great without issues nor uneven cuts. It's compact and easy to hold, with rubber. It's very reliable and always works well. I bought the Philips series 7000 Hair Clipper because I wanted guards that reach higher than 16mm and the 7000 has a guard that goes to 28mm. I'm not referring to multigroom 7000 but the hair clipper series. So this 7000 still isn't as good as my multigroom 5000 as the blades are way too sharp and cut and hurt my neck so much while trimming without a guard, and I get uneven hair cuts as the guards are adjustable and not as solid. No issue with 5000 multigroom. Just wish it went to 25mm+. Okay, there's no light to let you know when to recharge or while recharging but the battery lasts so many hours. I once tried to drain it and 3 and a half hours later it was still running, and it wasn't fully charged. You just have to charge it for minimum an hour and you'll know it's fully charged. Easy, not complicated like some are making it to be. Fussy people. Plug it in, go about your day, come back and it's charged. Like every other device out there. The only thing is I wish it was waterproof just to be able to wash it all as it would be faster to clean. The head/blade is waterproof at least. The series 7000 is waterproof. But, this is the one I bought 3 and a half years ago or 4 and a half, I forget, and it still works great today, August 2022.Ramouz

One of the closest cutting clippers I've ever owned. Didn't even have to use the zero gap tool, they cut super close right out of the box. I like them better than my Andis T-Outliners. Perfect for cutting bald heads. It came with the perfect gap for typical bald head cuts that black men get. I only gave it 4 Stars because the Andis Liners still works best for my coarse facial hair and the BaByliss do not come with guards. I am not a barber but enjoy cutting my own hair especially during these trying times. It has been almost impossible to find a reliable outlining true zero-gap trimmer. None of the lower priced trimmers did the job. I finally decided to put my money where my mouth is. This is truly a top of the line trimmer. It looks nice, compact and well built, without a lot of the unnecessary bells and whistles. It just flat works. For those who desire sharper lines, it comes with a zero adjustment tool. I am a 75 year old woman and I have trouble raising my arms to groom my hair between cuts. My hair is short and layer cut – almost as short as a man. This worked really well. I am a woman who had been going to a barber since 2019, as I wear my hair extremely short, funky, shaved. Unfortunately then there was the coronavirus, so I did not get my hair done for 15 months! This trimmer seems more solidly-made and feels better in my hand vs. the competing Norelco products. It also is much quieter and smoother operating, and seems to cut more quickly (though I'm comparing a new Panasonic vs. an older/used Norelco, but I could swear that the Norelco never cut as fast as the Panasonic). I also like the pop-up trimmer which is much simpler to deal with vs. Norelco's swappable cutting heads (the plastic tabs on the Norelco's has the habit of easily snapping off). The adjustable cutting length dial works great with solid/definitive clicks between settings (and the solid comb seems less prone to break vs. the hinged and ready-to-break-apart one on my old Norelco). I also like the cutting range of 1-10mm with comb "A" and 11-20mm with comb "B". The longest setting I use is 10mm so it means that I never have to swap combs (those that cut longer than 10mm do may not find this a plus). However, I am deducting a star from the Panasonic for its few negatives. First it uses an Ni-MH battery vs. the newer-tech Li-Ion battery so the Panasonic run times and battery life aren't gonna be as good as they could be. There's little excuse for Panasonic not to have by now upgraded a premium item like this to the latest and greatest battery technology. The pop-up trimmer is a bit too wide to fit into tight spaces (vs. the one on my previous Norelco). And the battery lights (why are there three when one would do the job?) only indicate when the unit is charged – it doesn't provide a low battery indication like on my old Norelco (or the newer one's too). Again for a premium item like this the three LED's should be red, yellow & blue colored (or some other color combo) and also operate like a battery gauge. Finally, and not a real deal killer, is the need to oil the blades. Conclusion – a high-quality product (especially vs. the competing Norelco's) that is hampered a bit by the lack of some higher-tech bells & whistles that it deserves to have at this price point (especially vs. the much cheaper Norelco's).ira_gold

I’ve been using this for almost a year and I’m still happy with it. Most beard trimmers are either expensive or are cheaply made (ie, made out of cheap, hollow plastic). This one is a happy medium, it’s not expensive and it’s pretty solid. I only paid $50 for it. My last one was a Phillips, I believe. It was one that had those expensive, disposable replacement blades. That thing was like $80 (and the blades were ≈ $10/month) and it was a piece of junk. I hated that thing. But, this trimmer is MUCH better. I love the ease of the hight adjustment, it is by far my favorite feature. Also, the battery life is excellent. Admittedly, I do not use this a lot because I’m kind of lazy about trimming my beard, but I’ve only had to charge this half a dozen times. The only thing I don’t like is the pop up trimmer (which I use on my neck). It just doesn’t work as well as others I’ve used.PAlB

Ive used Andis T-edgers for decades now. My last one literally fell apart while using it. I was plastic and Im a very busy hairstylistprobably dropped it a few times in its life. This one feels better in my hand. Still light but sturdier. A better shape to hold onto. It cost more than Ive paid in the past but Im feeling it will last longer. My husband loves this Christmas gift. It gives a very even, close cut on his beard and mustashe. He absolutely loves the cordless feature and the convenience of being able to do a quick trim-up. I want to love all of the manscaped so bad. What I do love, is the blade and how it does not Knick or cut you. I’m a woman, I use it and my husband uses it and we both like that feature.
That is the only reason why it’s getting 1 star and not 5.

What is REALLY lame about the rest of it is the battery life and speed/ability to cut through course hair. It takes about 5+ hours to charge, and once it is charged you have about 2 mins of usage until the motor slows down and your battery life light is back to red. And yes I did actually time it all. SUPER LAME!!

Thing worked fine for a while, until it sliced my coin purse open. The “skinsafe” cutting head sliced me open like a razor knife. Wrote to customer service about it, their response was to offer a replacement head. Thanks but no thanks.
Then my trimmer became possessed. It would turn itself on and off randomly. It woke me up one night buzzing away after it had jumped off the counter onto the tile floor. I turned it off only to have it turn back on again seconds later. Tried plugging it into the charger, no dice. Still turned itself on. So I took the head off it and left it in the sink bowl so it couldn’t damage anything else.
Customer service offered a free replacement. I accepted and gave my mailing address. They sent me a replacement CUTTING HEAD. FOR THE TRIMMER I CANT EVEN USE ANYMORE.

It stopped working after less than 15 uses. I use it as intended, but also on my head if my fuzz gets to long for a Bic. First of all, I think a handheld Bic is safer, iv cut myself dozens of with this, and second it broke after a dozen of so uses. It is supposed to under warranty, but when I emailed I said if it's not covered under warranty and this is the quality of product I can expect, I wish to cancel all subscriptions. They canceled all subscriptions. Just shows that they don't even stand behind their own product.michael walker

I have used non electric back shavers before and they were worthless. After reviewing this Mangroomer pro cordless on many forums I purchased this at a great Walmart low price. It's well designed, good grip with rubberized handle. It's rechargeable cordless design is great and it works great. With the multiple angles of the extension handle I was easily able to get every nook and cranny of my back hair, shoulders, with ease. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who needs to keep your whole body trimmed.Tonyzany23

I truly wonder how long it will last. Be sure to never drop it, or it will be gone. It did trim the hair off my back, but then my back hair is very fine. And I did manage to scrap myself up a bit too. Another thing I was shocked about, when it's is on charge, it wont run. So when the batteries die you cant just plug it in and keep using it. And you cant take it apart to put in new ones. But that do tell you how to take out the circuit board with the batteries on it to toss it out. For what I paid for it I thought it would be much better. So I will use it till it goes and then get the cheaper one. All it really is, is the edge trimmer on an electric shaver on a stick. If you have one, you know how they last. Be sure to keep it oiled and clean it every time you use it…. One last thing, it does work me, but I just wonder for how long…..2011jakecarl

Alas it got blunt over the years and on seeing the price of the replacement blades it made good sense to order a brand new replacement. I thought I was buying the same again but this new Mangroomer is a pale imitation. Made by the same company and costing the same it's a far inferior product. It's much lighter and has no real weight to it making it harder to use. The weaker joints mean that it won't stay in position plus it is now battery operated not rechargeable. Luckily I used the cutting blade of the new one to revamp my old one so I'm still not being hassled by zoo keepers.afrocub

This was not exactly what I thought I was ordering for him, but he is getting used to it and now he really likes it. Says the battery is lasting a long time, many times being used and still strong. It is small and light weight, so at first it seemed "dinky" but it does a very nice job of keeping his beard at that "day-old" look that I like for him. I have a drawer with three of these that don't work. They were each great when first bought and used, but the third or fourth time it was switched on there was nothing. I changed the battery – nothing. I tried reversing the polarity of the battery installation – nothing. I tried a third battery properly installed – nothing. I have had very short hair for probably 20 years now. There's only so many options you have when your hair decides it doesn't want to grow anymore. As far as I'm concerned, I had two options. I could let it bother me and spend all kinds of money and effort trying to get my hair back in one way or another OR I could go for the military buzz and keep it short. I chose the latter and it's worked out well for me. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, I would have my head buzzed every 10 – 14 days because I like to keep it as short as possible. Even when my hair is long (14 – 28 days without being buzzed), it's not very long at all. It's manageable and able to be easily buzzed. I have a friend who works for SportClips and before the world shut down, I would give her my business every two weeks. She would keep my head buzzed and I would contribute to her career but since that option is currently unavailable, I decided ManGroomer might be a great alternative for me. I thought of ManGroomer because I purchased "THE BACKGROOMER™" awhile back and it works just fine. Unlike the Backgroomer, my experience with the ULTIMATE PRO Self-Haircut Kit was not a good one. The clipper did not cut properly. I used several of the guards, I tried cutting without a guard and I even tried plugging in as opposed to cutting on the battery power thinking I would get more power, but the results were the same in each attempt – painful and ineffective. The clippers pulled my hair as opposed to cutting in all of my attempts. Thankfully, I have a proper set of Wahl brand hair clippers in my closet that I was able to use to shave my head without any issues after the ManGroomer Self-Cutting Kit failed me. The packaging was fantastic. The timeliness of delivery was optimal. When I emailed the company for a return and refund request, they literally returned my email and gave me a refund within minutes. It couldn't have been longer than 10 minutes. I was incredibly impressed by the response. Not only did they issue me a refund but the team encouraged me to try a couple of more times with their product. All aspects other than the actual product itself were flawless on ManGroomer's part. For this reason, I will continue to buy products from ManGroomer because customer service goes a long way with me along with the fact that I bought another one of their products that I've had zero issues with. I'm chalking this up as simply something that didn't work for me. It may work for someone else and despite my negative experience with this particular line of ManGroomer's product, I am not discouraged by the brand and I look forward to using more of their products in the future.J.r. Yes, it works and is a better solution for my back hair than anything else I ever tried (other than having someone else shave my back for me). However, even with the mangroomer, shaving your back is still not the easier thing in the world. I recommend this model over the slightly less expensive one because without the extra foil head I would not have been able to get a close enough shave. Despite being the best product on the market, I'm only giving 4 stars because it appeared to be cheaply made. Used it for the first time today and one of the red lock buttons fell off which wasn't a big deal since I was able to pop it back on, but still shouldn't have happened. Its made in CHINA, so this is expected. If Wahl came out with a similar product made in the America, I would gladly buy it instead even if it was more money.Kevin

I have purchased 2 Mangroomers and after the first I was convinced I was a lifetime customer until this last purchase. The blades no longer cut through my back hair and seem to not be made as quality as they used to be. My first model didn't have a problem going through my forest of hair but now even with the power boost all it does is tug and rip hair out. The overall quality just seems to be downgraded after making such a quality product and gaining good reviews and supporters. I'm highly disappointed that such a good product can't even do the one thing it claims to do, man groom. I will no longer be using this companies products based on the change in blade quality and the inability to cut my back hair.Jefferson H.

Use guard when trimming mens private area and apply a VERY light touch, it will trim to a short length. If you want it to be bare i would try another method.Happy Perspective

I ordered this a few months ago and have been using it regularly. •Would DEFINITELY recommend over the 100+ manscaped options. •I still havent had to change the Duracell battery I put in it.☆● CLEAN IT OUT AFTER YOU USE IT!!!I was actually hesitant to get this instead of a manscaped because so many reviews said it stopped working after a couple uses. Im pretty much certain its because the idiots dont clean it out after each use. It catches all the tiny hairs it shaves. So you have to take off the black cut guard after you use it and empty it. It literally takes 3 seconds. And it works really well. Yes you may have to go over a couple areas 2 or 3 times but it does the job well and its cheap. 100% recommendTrevor

My Bodygroomer 3100 gave up on me so I got this cheap replacement instead. Philips has unfortunately re-engineered the blades perhaps because it’s cheaper for them to manufacture as these are also very narrow.The narrow blades don’t trim that easily in one go compared to my old Norelco. It doesn’t pick up hair on all strokes even in the line of motion. You’ll find yourself making repeated strokes to cut through the hair and edges. I noticed despite my patient efforts some rough and grainy edges were left over in the end. If you could invest in something more expensive then do that.The saving grace here is that it uses a battery instead so can be replaced quickly with a flip instead of charging it. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve lost charge while trimming the land down under.Overall, would recommend if you’re on a budget and don’t mind spending a few extra minutes. This is my second one blade so the fact that I ordered another one says it all! As someone with very sensitive, acne and in grown hair prone skin I was never able to shave using the traditional razor and shaving cream method. I have tried out many hand held razors from cheap to very expensive but none of them lasted more than a few months never mind an entire year. I saw the one blade at my local pharmacy and decided to try it as I’ve had decent success with norelco in the past. This was the shaver I’ve needed and wanted all my life! The flat head design ensures stability while shaving and also makes it incredibly easy to shape my beard, side burns etc. What I love the most about the one blade is that it shaves the skin pretty much as close as a regular razor without the “side effects” of a traditional razor. No longer do I suffer with acne, razor bumps or irritation after shaving. This new one blade greatly improves upon the first iteration in the design of the guides and charging stand. The first one had individual length guides that didn’t really stay on that well and no charging base. I love the design of this new model because the guide stays on even while trimming the jawline and the lcd screen shows how much charge is left. For how small this thing is it has always held a charge very well. I shave about every week-ish and a full charge lasts about a month depending on how much I shave. The disposable heads last a long time as well given I tidy-up the thicker hair of the torso and below the belt, using a separate blade of course. My first one blade has lasted me over 3 years and it would probably still work if I didn’t drop it so much. To sum up my review, if anyone has had the same issues as I have using a traditional razor than I implore you to give this a try! Your skin will thank you!JNYC

I have always struggled with shavers, I am fair haired and my beard grows slowly so I usually go clean shaven but recently I have tried some different lengths of beard. With this Oneblade Pro I can manage the length easily, the guard comes with an adjustable comb so you can set it between 0.5 and 10mm, the best bit about that is it adjusts so simply with a turn of the wheel, the numbers are nice and clear so it's easy to set where you want it and it also doesn't move while shaving so you get a good even shave. I have attached a couple of photos, when I heard I was getting this I let my beard grow out so it was pretty long and untamed, for the first try I basically took it all off with a combination of using the guard and then removing it for a smooth finish, you can see the difference and it was an effortless shave no fuss and a nice smooth face. Battery life wise it's great so far, charged up once, used every day for a week and it's still going strong, I am guessing it will need charging soon but I can't complain at all. It is comfortable in the hand and us really sinple to use, the rotating head makes shaving so easy and it follows the contours of your face very well. It.comes with an extra blade for body shaving which I haven't used yet but its good to have the option. It comes with a standard 2 pin shaving plug for the bathroom socket and the lead is long enough to not cause any issues. It's much better for me than having to use a beard trimmer if I want to have some decent stubble and have a separate razor for when I want to be clean shaved, this does both really well and I would recommend it to anyone.Mooseman34

I will start this review by saying that I've exclusively used electric razors basically since I discovered what they were after I started shaving. I've used many different types and qualities over the years to varying levels of success. Unfortunately, the Philips Norelco Oneblade Pro fails to live up to the hype. In concept, the idea is interesting and unique, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. To start, the blade touts itself as being able to handle all lengths of hair, and I had gone almost 2 weeks without a shave (which is uncommon for me) so I figured what better way to test it. I tend to shave my neck clean and leave a bit of a 2-3 day shadow on my face so that's what I aimed for. While it accomplished this task, it was much more difficult and took much longer than my traditional method. I started with clean saving using the Oneblade without the guard on it, and it does well enough, although since it only cuts along the top and bottom edges, I found covering large flat areas to be a bit of an interesting experience. Since it doesn't cut directly under the flat middle part of the blade, you have to be sure there is room to move the blade up and down around it without cutting hair you don't want cut. The angle of the blade on the base does not lend itself to this experience. Trying to angle it without flipping it over is nearly impossible, and flipping it over means the teeth of the blade are directly against your skin. Fortunately the rounded edges do save you from any terrible mishaps, but it still does not lend itself to a very easy shaving experience. Once I finished the clean shaven portion of my neck, I attached the comb and set it to '3' (which I imagine is something akin to 3mm of my old Philips Norelco comb. It does manage to keep a consistent 3mm cut throughout, but it's like taking a weed-eater to a full yard of 5ft weeds. Yes, it CAN do it, but it does not do it well. As the blades cut the hair, it would just pile up and jam into the top of the comb until the comb and blades so full of hair they could no longer reach my face, and instead required me to remove the comb, tap out the hair and brush off the blades. The other strange thing about this design is that with the comb installed, only one of the two cutting edges is in use, which means if you only ever use it with the comb installed, or mostly use it with the comb installed, you will dull one side of the blade much sooner than the other. The blade cannot be flipped over to allow you a fresh cutting edge on the side that you use less. One thing I will mentioned about this, is that it is more comfortable than any travel razor I've ever used. So for travel, I would choose it over most other options if you're not willing to pack a bigger or bulkier razor. Bottom line, It will accomplish what it set out to do, but unfortunately it does not do any of those things well. It's comfortable, if a little strange to use and does not nick or cut the skin even if you have to use it at strange angles. But for the same tasks there are better options.Beradon

Time consuming. Multiple passes required. 90% efficient, therefore 30 mins later after a body shave 10% hair still missed. Occasionally came across a block of hair that just wouldn't shave after multiple passes at varied angles and I remembered how my battery operated trimmer got most hair on first pass. The angle of motion must be just right to get a clean shave. Suffered rashes after. I gave it 5 stars as the negative experience was perhaps my own and the product shaves as advertised And shaving can cause discomfort to the skin. However the name says Trimmer! So im confused, does it shave or trim? Personally im going back to real trimming.Marko

I’ve had this for 24 mths and rate this at 3 stars. Why? I am by no means a Sasquatch and it takes 2 mths until another shave is required. My scoring is that the first shave with fresh blades is super, the 2nd shave a couple mths later is now good (not super) and by the 3rd use I’m really having to drag the unit forcefully across the area which results in some cuts and a struggle to shave the actual hair. So it is my opinion that the poor life span of the blades drags the score down to a 3. Although I’ve discussed this with store consultants, use the cleaning spray, maintain and clean the device, essentially it’s dives down in effectiveness in a hurry after the first 2 uses with fresh blades. I won’t be replacing the blades but instead looking for an alternate solution for my next shave.Mars

I have used the BakBlade a couple of times since my purchase. I will only shave wet, as I am not brave enough to do it dry. Anyway, there is just a learning curve for me. The first time I cut myself in a couple of places. That could be I was using a little too much force and just getting used to shaving my back which is awkward because you can't see it. The next time I eased up on the pressure and only had one very small nick. I have recently been practicing on my legs, chest, arms to see if I can find that perfect angle. No nicks doing that so I will try those techniques on my back. Just a thought, a very detailed instructional video discussing pressure to apply, the angle you should hold the BakBlade, and the best method for the different parts of the back would be great. The videos online currently are overviews and not really detailed.Elliot C.

This is a decent groomer for men's body hair. I've been using an old Norelco groomer that has a narrow blade so was looking for an upgrade with a wider blade and would appreciate one that doesn't catch on skin. I've tested this on various regions, chest, pelvic area, and even my beard. The groomer cuts great but the blade can catch on loose skin… if you hold it flat to the skin, it works fine but just make sure to keep it flat to the skin on certain areas. I've managed to nick myself after getting too confident and am a little shy now so go slow. Working with the combs, trimming everything else, beard, chest, etc. worked great and came out great. It's easy to switch out the combs (four sizes included, 3,5,9,12mm), easy to clean, easy to charge (USB), and blades are easily replaceable. It holds a charge long enough that after a few runs and touch-ups over the last week, it's not needing a recharge. Box says 90 minutes for the battery so figuring only 10 min or so each use, I'll get a decent amount of use before needing charging. The width of the blade is just about perfect, larger than my old Norelco but not unwieldy. It's very easy to hold regardless of where or what direction your trimming. My only other negative is that I ordered onyx but received sage. The sage is a very nice camo sort of green which I'm fairly pleased with so not really disappointed. Overall, pretty good groomer for guys. Keeps everything neat and clean!Trooper

This is a review of the Meridian trimmer with "universal USB" charging. There are good and bad things about this trimmer. I don't dislike it. But I wouldn't recommend it, for reasons I'll explain. The trimmer itself is a nice width and has a fairly decent amount of weight to it. On the front are LED's to indicate charging level. The material covering the trimmer is just slightly soft and slip-proof, which I appreciate. The trimmer blades are like every other trimmer of this type I've ever used. There's nothing that special about them from what I can tell. The width is decent. Depending where it's used, the wide size has good and bad points. In the box you get a brush to clean the blades and parts, a very short charging cable and two combs that snap on the end of the trimmer. This is nowhere near enough variety in length. Using the trimmer with no comb, you get 3 lengths and that's it. The other gripe I have is that this is sold as a "universal USB" trimmer, which sounds fantastic for bringing it along on trips. But it uses a proprietary cable that is USB only on one end and is not universal. If you lose this special cable, you can no longer charge the trimmer. There's also no charger included. So you'll have to buy that separately, which is disappointing. There's no storage case either, although the box is a decent thickness and can be used for storage. For these reasons, I'd suggest going with a more mainline brand, like Remington, that usually comes with more lengths, attachments, an actual way to charge the trimmer, and sometimes a storage case.shawnph1970

GOOD THINGS; the trimmer is compact and quiet to use. There are 3-LED power/charge indicators so you tell if you sneak in one more cut before it dies. Recharging the trimmer is very quick, even from zero. The base cutter is rounded and safe around the “family jewels”. ISSUES: The “rounded” sections on the basic trimmer does not cut close to the skin, leaving a thick “5-O’clock” beard, maybe too much for someone that wants a clean or an un-fuzzy look or feel. The guards, clipped onto the trimmer, are too sharp/pointy, a yard rake design and around tender parts can be painful, unsafe and possibly dangerous to use??? With 2-sizes in each guard those sharp points are in both directions, going forward or backwards can hurt – just warning! The addition of a LED over the trimmer to illuminate the way through the “jungle” would be very helpful maybe improve safety as well, that handy addition would sure offset any minor reduced battery/trim time. The charger cord is too short (6-in), with USB/polarized trimmer connectors, is not easy or safe to add an extension (110V) cord – just 2X or longer would help very much. This company is not environmentally friendly as the timer was delivered in a box, inside a box with every item (brush, cord, 2-trimmer guards) inside individual plastic envelops, with additional cardboard and plastic inserts, just too much packaging/trash. Overall not a good deal or something to use until you find something better, close but no prize, sorry!JMC45

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. And it's the bee's knees! In the past I've used a shaver or beard trimmer to get rid of and manage unwanted body hair, but the Norelco Bodygroom 3500 is one unit that does a better job all by itself. First and foremost is that it doesn't cut me up like a razor or my beard trimmer does. The Norelco Bodygroom 3500 has rounded cutting trimmer tips so they do not stab you! I feel this is the main selling point of the Norelco Bodygroom 3500 and why it is superior to the alternatives. It cuts very well when dry (the cutting head is a combo trimmer and shaver), but when the hair is wet (it can be used in the shower) it takes a few passes to capture the hair. That's just the nature of water. It works best on hair under an inch long if you want to shave at skin level. To cut hair down to size but not shave off completely use the included trimmer guards that snap on. The Norelco Bodygroom 3500 is lightweight, comfortable to hold and not too noisy. To shave hard to reach areas it comes with a folding detachable extended handle. Click the Bodygroom in and now shaving your back is possible. Some control and shaving efficiency suffers while using the extended handle but without it some people might not be able to reach all areas. Also, the end of the extended handle does not have any rubber grip on it and becomes 'slippery when wet'. So, I put a few strips of skateboard grip tape on it which was helpful. One thing I didn't like was the charge only lasted an hour. There's a low battery light indicator but it was still hard to gauge when the charge would run out. It charges quickly (30 min for half charge) but when I'm rushing in the morning it still is not fast enough. I wish it had a screen showing battery charge percentage or how many minutes are left. What I ended up doing was to basically charge it after each time I used it. It does not work while plugged in (it only charges) to prevent you from using it in the shower while it is plugged in. This is a good safely feature, but being the battery is not user replaceable, when the battery dies (as all do) you'll need to buy a new unit. The rubber membrane over the on/off button feels a bit thin and I can see it tearing after heavy usage. It'll still work but it won't be water resistant anymore. The Norelco Bodygroom 3500 is great for daily or weekly use on all (even private) areas of the body. I did not experience any skin irritation and it is an easy to use. Of course, don't use it on a sunburned area of the body, guess how I figured that one out… I use it almost every day for quick touch ups which barely take any time. I'm never going back to my prehistoric ways again!SmoothSkin

I used the Norelco body groomer 3000 model for many years, and it never disappointed. When it finally died, I upgraded to the groomer 5000, and I have to say, it blew me away! So much better than the 3000 in every way. The quick charge fully charges it in an hour, and provides an hour of continuous use. It cutie the hair great! Even when I let the hair grow long, it easily cuts through the hair, leaving my skin smooth. Also, it’s great to shave “down there” as it doesn’t scratch or damage the skin. Basically, there’s nothing bad I can say about the Norelco body groomer 5000!MattyMatt

I received my new (and free) Norelco Bodygroom 3500 on 6/28/18 in exchange for my unbiased review. Initially I was disappointed when I started using the product, as it became apparent that depending on body hair type results may vary. That being said, being freshly clean will improve results, as will keeping up with `maintenance`. I tried the attachments/guards, it came with 3 at different sizes. Perhaps they would work better on course/stiff (and clean) hair, or maybe shorter hair as I quickly found them difficult to use on areas of my body that had long soft, oily, fluffy hair. So for the effectiveness of the supplied guards, results may vary depending on… you. Without the guard this tool is awesome. It cuts hair like a hot knife through butter and with no nicks, no bruising, no gashes/etc. On a few areas I would typically slow down to make sure I don`t amputate anything, but this machine`s built-in safety guard holds no bounds… similar to using an electric razor just mow everything away, not quite haphazard, or WOT, but pretty close. This alone helped shave (lol pun) about 5 mins off this part of my routine, easily. Plus no burn, and no bleeding & worrying about crazy infections in crazy places; this alone makes the item worth it for me. The added bonus of the extension/attachment makes the hard to reach areas easier with less pre-stretching involved. Basically I can now reach that one area on my back without any warm-up exercises. Clicks in and out of the attachment easily. A little bulky, but seems sturdy enough that it would last several accidental falls in the bathroom from my clumsy hands. Cleaning is a breeze. The whole unit is waterproof and the head is easily dissembled for ease of access. It may be helpful if you have small fingers though since the guard/foil is dainty and may be kind of small for big hands/fingers to remove, maintain and clean. Overall I do believe this item will be the perfect replacement for my normal clippers, as well as a perfect replacement for my cheapo pen style personal trimmer. Cuts better and easier, and the guard works a lot better. A great upgrade for anyone with thick body hair that currently uses the puny as seen on TV trimmers, and/or clippers that can be as dangerous as an electric carving knife, which has been terrifying (and emotionally scarring) in the past when I am near my sensitive areas.Charles40

I purchased this during a short price deal offer. The delivery and unboxing went fine, no quibble. I own a Wahl Balding clipper which I use primarily as a a bald shaver with limited haircutting duties so the Senior has effectively had to deliver the same service cordless. First task was to reset the blades to zero overlap. The result for the close cutting is only just acceptable compared to what the Balding does but the obvious advantage of the Senior is portability and convenience of mobility which almost makes up. Maybe Wahl should consider zero-overlap blades for the Senior or even a cordless Balding clipper for the future.Edwin E.

I've bought many nose trimmers and this Remington blows away the Wahl or Norelco for half the price. The blade trims very close, has a light which others dont have, the motor is so much stronger yet so light in weight. Can easily carry in purse for that one surprise hair on chin you see while driving to work. Also impressed using on precise trimming of eyebrow hair. very easy to use in any position with tilt head.
