Vacuum sealers don't last long at my house. I don't think I'm particularly rough with them. I just think the pumps suck and not in the good way. I spent over $200 on the last one and when it burnt out, so did I. I really didn't want to buy another one. Well then I got a sous vide and found out rather quickly that I needed another vacuum sealer… Since vacuum sealers don't last long at my house, I decided to go cheap and found this one on sale. At around 1/4 the price of my last one, why not. But I didn't expect much. What a pleasant surprise this machine has been. This thing has been a dream to use. The pump has been excellent and the sealer works great every time. I have had no problems with this machine and it's small size makes it easy to put away. I am happier with this machine than I was with the last 4 name brand units I had. For bags i went online and bought a couple different sized bulk packs of generic pre made bags. There are cheaper sealers out there, but they have mixed reviews. The cheaper sealers on Amazon may have 5 star reviews but if you look closely it appears that the companies give some kind of perk for leaving a 5 star review. This sealer is middle of the road pricing but I think it’s worth paying a little more to get this sealer. It got a great seal every time on chicken breasts, ground beef, short ribs, and pork chops. This has been perfect during the pandemic where sometimes you don’t always get the best selections. It says it will keep meat fresh for up to two years but I would hope I would never have a piece of meat in the freezer that long! I recommend for really juicy meats like chicken to pat them down with a paper towel before sealing – the juice will ruin the seal and make a mess. I also recommend buying a roll of bags with this sealer as it only comes with 10 and they go fast!TXTrumpet

I've had one of these for 4 years. I've probably ran at least 10,000 bags through the chamber without complications. Very easy to understand. You can even do soups. The chamber pulls a vac on the whole chamber then seals bag and let's atmospheric pressure back to chamber and your bag collapse instantly. By not pulling out of the bag anything liquid is a go. The best part of it all the bags are dirt cheap compared to regular vac sealers. One thing to keep in mind. If you use a lot and the oil site glass gets cloudy, change the oil. Very inexpensive and fast. My buddy tore one up not changing the oil. To simple to overlook. The book explains it in detail. Highly recommended. Green beans fresh , corn left on the cob. Etc. Thank god for this cheaper alternative to a $1000+ machine. It works the same as a more expensive one. Perfect for a restaurant like mine that Vac-packs steaks and veggies for Sous Vide and storage. Chamber Vac's are the way to go for commercial kitchens. You wont be disappointed with this machine. My only complaint is it didn't come with instructions to put it together. There is a very small amount of assembly for the heat strip. Other then that, Its perfect.Mike H.

I like this machine because it does not require expensive special bags. No problem with adding marinade to the chicken wings shown in photo. The unit does not suck the air from the bag, air is removed from the chamber and the bag continues to appear to have air in it. Then the bag is sealed. Then the vacuum is released and then the bag puckers up.electronicaircleaners-com

I got this for my husband. He works at a factory that makes cheese and they gifted him with a 10 pound brick of cheese. He wanted to break it down into smaller portions and keep it in good condition. He loves this! He is vacuum sealing everything he can get his hands on now. He enjoys the multi use of this sealer. The roll holder and cutter he loves. And he loves that you can seal the bags in a traditional manner. But his favorite is the resealable bags with the sealer attachment. He loves this option for the smaller packets of cheese that we like but don't eat a lot of right away.Moraranger

I’m sorry, your example review of a few months ago is ridiculous. I bought mine 4 and a half years ago and it just stopped working today. It was barely used for the first 3 years though. I used it yesterday just fine. I am so disappointed and embarrassed because I recommended this to everyone I know! What a waste of money! Unfortunately integration of dunction with electronics has declined reliability functional integration of performance resulting in failures; complicated by foodsaver not resolving over time. 2013 manufactured V4440 lasted less than 20 days before demonstrating this usage dysfunction. Much like the brand new last released foodsaver problem of shut down while in progress solved by Amazon reviewers fist hitting the top of the unit to re-engage cycle completion. Foodsaver needs to turn its focus on solving the electronics motherboard functions it appears to me.Flightwingslight

Bought this vacuum dealer cause it said commercial sealer. I haven't even had it a year and it no longer vacuums. And no we are not heavy sealers. Used maybe 10 times. If this is supposed to be a commercial rated don't waste your money not worth it.Sharon

This is a great vacuum sealer. I originally purchased a Foodsaver, but ended up returning it after 2 weeks. It did not hold a seal when sealing things like brown sugar. Air would come back into the bags after 2 weeks of being sealed. This sealer works like a charm. No air coming back into the bags after sealed, and you can make your own double seal with it. Dont waist your money on Foodsaver. Nesco is so much better. It is also made in America, which means a lot.Gail

I purchased this vacuum sealer by Nesco over a year ago and am very pleased with it. I have only used the Nesco sealer bags as they are the correct thickness and have a special texture that helps with the vacuuming. I believe other bags will work but since I haven't had any issues I chose to repurchase the Nesco bags. One technique I realized that has helped me with sealing the bags, especially for breads and wet foods, is that I first vacuum a small amount of air out of the set bag, press cancel and then seal. This allows you to make the vacuuming adjustable without flattening the food or causing any liquids to overflow. We just used our vacuum sealer to seal almost all of our food items for a weekend of boating. No more ruined food! Even though the ice melted all the food items were protected. I made several portion sizes – family, 2 person and snack and opened them up with a handy gift wrap cutting tool I already had. In addition to keeping the food fresh from the salt air and dry from the melted ice, vacuum bags also reduced the volume of your packed goods. I would also like to note that I tested 2 methods of freezing bread- one using a resealable plastic bag and one using a vacuum sealer bag. After a few days I opened, smelled and tasted a slice of bread from each. The vacuum sealed bread tasted fine, while the other one smelled and tasted like freezer.MaureenlovestheLord

Have had our unit for 1 1/2 yrs. Began as total newbie to dehydration & vacuum-sealing. So-o-o easy to do with this unit. Am currently eating awesome winter soups from the sealed dehydrated garden goodies from past Spring/Summer. Well worth the money based on personal experience and dehydration/sealing classes I've attended where others showed their sealer units & stories. Vacuum sealing was a hit with it's ability to extend storage life of foods that are dehydrated, etc. Have and will continue to recommend this Weston Pro 2300.Aunt B

We bought the Weston 2600 to replace a top of the line Foodsaver model that didn't last 4 years. We fish a lot and raise our own meat birds every year so we needed something a little sturdier that can be repaired instead of replaced. From the first seal it was obvious this is a better built machine. The seals are significantly thicker and the vacuum power is impressive. Our only issue is having to wait 20 seconds between seals. It sounds silly, but when you're on a roll and you're processing 30 birds, 20 seconds feels like a long time. It's expensive, but worth it in the long run if it's the last one I have to buy. The cons? Storing it is a pain as it takes up a lot of space and is heftier than the Foodsavers.Geetie

I had another vacuum sealer which I gave away, just the weight of this machine is meant to say it means business (just a bit over 11 kg). This is an excellent, sturdy machine that works on and on, as efficient on the last seal as it was on the first. I use it several times a week in a household of only two people. Mainly, I buy bulk and repackage in portion sizes, thin enough to be thawed quickly in water for fast meal prep and no food waste. Last week I did 30 packages of chicken breast, and the Vacmaster worked effortlessly. Every seal is perfect the first time, unless you get a wrinkle in the seal, and most of those hold up. It's great for sous vide cooking. The bags stay submerged and never leak. Ordinary chamber sealing bags are all you need, nothing special. If the inside edges are clean, you can reseal chip bags (no vacuum or they'll crush), and frozen things like shrimp or veggies in their original packages. It's very easy to change the settings, and once you've sealed a few things, there's nothing mysterious or confusing about it. Jars are easy to do; upright for smaller jars, and horizontal for large jars, which means big jars can only hold dry goods, because the lids are slightly loose until sealed. The machine is very heavy, about 90 pounds. Just getting it into the house and on the counter was quite a lift! Once on the counter, if you put furniture sliders under the feet, it will stay securely in place, but you can still slide it around your counter to change the oil or clean. I keep bags of several sizes in heavy manilla folders in a drawer under the Vacmaster. Speaking of bags, it says you can't use a bag longer than 13", the length of the vacuum chamber. Actually, that's if the bag contents are flat. If you seal a loaf of bread, or a whole chicken, a 17" long bag is the way to go. Just make sure you never, ever, block the vacuum port (white circular thing with holes in it at the back of the chamber). I can't say enough good things about Vacuum Sealers Unlimited and LISA who is at the helm! She is just an outstanding human being to work with. I bought my Vacmaster the day before the tariffs in 2018 (probably along with a lot of other people). Vacmaster was out of the units, so I had to wait (was in no hurry), but Lisa got me the pre-tariff price offered online when I ordered. Then the package arrived with the shipping indicator showing it had been tipped over. Neither Fed-Ex nor her company web page listed what to do about that rare occurrence, and she had an emergency and was out of the office when the shipment arrived, so I sent it back. Actually, it costs a huge amount to ship these, and I should have had the delivery person note the condition of the package on the slip, and set it up to see if it was unharmed. But it went back, and I paid no extra shipping. I did have to wait for it to return to its point of origin, then wait for a new one to ship, but I did indeed get one that had not tipped over, and it has been in perfect working condition ever since. I just love it, despite the splurge and the space it takes on the counter. It's been a great choice for many reasons: the price of bags, the savings from bulk buying, perfect portion sizes so food doesn't go to waste, the double-seal in one go, easy meal prep, and the extended freshness, refrigerated, frozen, or dry goods storage. Very happy with this purchase. Price much better than competitors. Delivery was fast considering it is 100lbs and cheap. Machine looks sturdy and well built. Functioning well out of the box. I feel that with the oil pump it should be a longer term investment. It seems easily serviceable at home when out of warranty. Plenty of easy replacement parts online with the site.It is amazing how the vacuum preserves foods. I think the sealer will be paid off by the food we would not be wasting anymore. We like to shop at other retailers but we always overshop on spoil-able food.We have used it for marinades as well and it works great. You cannot make a great seal on a regular out of chamber sealer when you have liquids inside the bag. Plus the bags will run less for vacmaster bags. If you reuse them once or twice, can go under a cent for the small ones.The packaging box came pretty beat up but after opening, I think this product has some of the best packaging I have ever seen…Fairly quiet overall if you care.I researched other similar machines from different companies and was very excited about features like not having to change the oil, all the electronics and the side port for canning. I feel that this unit is so much simpler and of course will have some learning curve to achieve similar results but will pay off in the long run in terms of simplicity and reliability once you get the know-how.Overall, an amazing solution to your everyday kitchen problems.Now, the bad. This thing is big, heavy and pretty much an eye sore in your kitchen. Cannot hide it and move it around when not needed without herniating your disks. I am pleased with the Walton's store and the quick delivery on my VacMaster VP215! Did not know it was going to be arriving in a few days after order, it came out of Kansas City. It works great, still learning new things and ways to seal and preserve things. The first thing was to add oil. I did it with out any problem. You will have to clean the machine before use but that is standard procedure for this item. The box was damaged when arrived but after a call and opening the box the VacMaster VP215 had no damage to it that we noticed. The customer service at the store was very pleasant and was reassuring us that if we found an issue just contact them. I ordered extra bags, good things because I have almost used up what they gave me with the machine already. Great way to save most everything that you can think of in freezer or storage. 1. Do not forget to cut open a already sealed package – you will have a mess to clean up in your machine. 2. Controls need to have a guide but document on paper what works for you and your machine for future reference. 3. Keep clean and sanitize it with various food going into the chamber. 4. You can never order enough bags. no reason to reuse them like other brands of seal machines. 5. Now I need a freeze dryer. I've had at least half a dozen FoodSaver units. When they work they are incredibly useful but the sad fact is they don't last long and each newer one I buy has a shorter functioning life. Unfortunately, the company doesn't support them either. I actually ordered one directly from the manufacturer, received a unit that was defective and they refused to replace it. IF you decide to buy one you should know that the clamshell models such as the one QVC is offering are MUCH more useful than the glammed-up upright models. And you can seal far more than the FoodSaver bags. Most cereals/chips/bagged frozen foods/etc. can be resealed in their own bags to keep them fresh and grain weevil-free. Ordinary sandwich and freezer bags can be sealed to create custom sizes more useful for some things you may wish to store without vacuuming. And you can turn the machine on its side to store it in an upright position if you want to save space. I keep mine on the counter because I use it most days. The best feature, in my opinion, is that you can pre-sear and season individual size or meal size portions of meat and then take them directly from your freezer to you sous vide unit and have delicious meals virtually without additional cooking. So I'll probably buy another FS one day but I am aggressively looking for a manufacturer who makes a more dependable unit. Love this new FoodSaver (my old one was gathering dust until recently and lacked a few features I now want). I did my research and narrowed my choices then found this one on sale at Walmart, about $20 cheaper than Amazon on that particular day. (Both have reverted to higher prices.) I love to use the resealable/reusable zip bags. I'm starting to eat heathier now, so there are lots more fresh vegetables and fruits in my frig and freezer. I still use the large size bags but not so much lately. BTW: I've learned from the internet to make smaller bags from the large roll (to save money). Easy to use, fun and frugal, too.Patti

This foodsaver vaccum sealing system is a great product that comes with a bonus handheld sealer and zipper bags that seal and a few sizes of sealing bags and a 10 ft. roll to make any size of bag you need. I like the zipper bags the best so far because I can open the bag get what I want out of it and seal it back over and over again. The system is very simple to use you just push the wet or dry button to choose what your sealing and push the vaccum and seal button to begin after you have placed your bag in the correct area. It has a handle on the side that is to open it store it or to operate it. And the bags are bpa free. You don't have to use it just for food products either. You can use it for products that might spill in your suitcase when traveling or use it to keep dog food and dog snacks fresh if you buy in bulk like I do. The point of this product is to keep stuff fresher longer by removing as much air as possible that would normally cause stuff to spoil quickly. Overall I love this device and I highly recommend to get one to try for yourself!April38

For over a year I have been using the Water Immersion Method to avoid spending money on a legitimate vacuum sealer. This means that I have been simply lowering a Zip Lock bag full of food down into a pot of water. The pressure from the water pushes most of the air out of the bag – which is then zipped closed and clipped to the size of the pot (while the Sous Vide heats the water and slowly cooks the food). …The Immersion Method works alright, but this Vacuum Sealer works MUCH better. If you cook using a Sous Vide, or if you want to vacuum seal food to increase how long it lasts in the freezer – a vacuum sealer really is an absolute must! The device is easy to use and it can seal just about any bag or package in the house. You can re-seal bags of chips, bags of candy, and can even create a water tight seal in a Zip Lock bag. The machine actually creates a double heat seal that holds incredibly well! And, you can seal bag after bag without the device over heating. While you can re-seal just about anything – the machine isn't always able to suck the air out of random bags. The lid closes very tight which doesn't always allow for air to flow in-between the two layers of chip bags etc. The actual Anova vacuum seal bag material is textured which allows the air to be sucked out before the heat seal is activated. So, purchasing legitimate rolls of vacuum seal plastic definitely works best. The machine stores the entire roll inside the device and even has a safe blade that trims the bag to the desired size. The Anova Vacuum Sealer does have a manual vacuum button which helps if you are trying to seal a bag with liquid inside. But, even when the manual function – it can be difficult to ensure that liquid isn't sucked into the machine (which causes a mess and can interfere with the heat seal). If you do enjoy sealing meat with marinade – this machine will work better than most, but still isn't perfect. Tip 1: If you do want to seal a zip lock bag, leave the lid clamped down for a few extra seconds while the plastic cools down. If you open the lid right away, the zip lock back might melt apart and ruin the seal. The cons are rather minor, but I don't like that the handle used to clamp down the lid is made of glossy plastic which very quickly shows finger prints and smudges. I also don't like that there is no way to turn the device off when the lid is closed. We have young kids in the house and I would prefer to keep the Vacuum Sealer on the counter with the lid locked shut. But, when you close the lid, the buttons are activated. There is no on/off switch – so I end up unplugging it and storing it in-between uses. (The machine is pretty big, so it is probably not a good idea to leave it on the counter taking up space.) Tip 2: Make sure to leave a large amount of empty space at the top of the bag. If you attempt to vacuum seal a bag that is too short, the suction will cause the bag to crinkle and the the seal will not be air tight. When the heat seal activates, some air will flow back into the bag. Over all, my family has been truly impressed and I feel pretty foolish for trying to go so long without one. Sous Vide cooking is now easier and we can make sure that meat can be stored for longer periods without freezer-burn.TheDuke

I feel I should disclose I've never used a vacuum sealer before. This product is great quality. It includes a roll of bags that can be sealed at your own desired length, the separate tube attachment, instructions, and the power cord is attached to the body of the sealer. The instructions were honestly not useful to me. It's simply a collection of images of how to use the sealer. There are no written instructions and I could find no videos or how-to guides for this particular model. As far as choosing your bag size and sealing the bottom, it's super straight forward. You simply unroll the material onto the sealer, press the seal button, and it heats the material to form a bottom seal of the bag. I ran into troubles with the actual sealing process. You need to make sure you let the heating element that seals cool off before you try to vacuum and seal. If you do not, it will seal the bag before attempting to vacuum seal it, leaving you with a useless piece of plastic. I made this mistake several times. I could not get bags to vacuum before sealing. It took me several times to get the sealing process right. It was especially frustrating when trying to work with a meat for Sous Vide cooking. I did eventually get the seal to correctly work to cook a steak. The bags worked great once appropriately sealed and made for a great overall product. I'm not sure if my issues with this product is just user error and/or not understanding the process correctly, but I've had a hard time with the air reduction actually working before the machine tries to seal. I am a first time user of a vacuum sealer, so it could be lack of knowledge. I do like the amount of features and capability this offers.bkelly217

Very easy to use technology that opens a door to a world of food processing. Either for (sous-vide) food storage or for sous vide cooking. Over the last years, I’ve been using sous vide storage to extend the life of some fresh foods that normally go to waste because of the limited size of the family. During the same number of years, I was trying to convince myself that the purchase of a professional sous-vide machine was not justifying the savings in non-waisted food. My (mostly manual) solution until now was a very basic and limited vacuum device that was only ok for dry foods. For sealing the bags, a very basic sealer was doing the rest. Recently I introduced sous-vide cooking and start to discover the pleasure of food cooked to low temperature. Sadly, my food preparations under the previous sous-vide method were not adequate to directly use the foods fully submerged in the water. On a certain number of occasions, the water was entering the bag destroying the food taste. The solution was to keep the bags with a clothespin. The Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer is the perfect solution for both uses. My favorite elements: .- Anova is able to vacuum not only fully dried preparations but also foods with sauces and marinades in the bag. And this is a game-changer! Now, my foods are prepared with the special family receipt marinade, they stay in the fridge or freezer and directly for preparation. That could be sous-vide directly in the bag, but also without a bag in the barbeque. I love that the meats have been marinating for days in a close-air free-controlled bag and once out of the bag, the juices are there. .- Size, the full machine is made in a very compact size. In a small kitchen house, this is a very important element. Each new addition must justify its presence. .- You can use pre-cut bags but also use the fully customizable plastic roll that stays in the machine. You are cutting the roll and preparing the bags to tailor them to each occasion's need: big or small foods have their own bag. .- Super intuitive process that only requires pushing a button. The machine does all the rest and the light tells you when to reopen again. No need for too many instructions. .- I didn’t use it but I think is worth to mention that you can use the vacuum with special vacuum ready containers. .- In the web, they are talking about extending guarantee. Hope never go a use but good to have. Despite my feedback about how easy is to use, I wish that the easy start document and instructions has more and/or bigger drawings. W That depends! I always save the sous vide bags– wash them out (dishwasher safe inside out) and try to re-use for the same type of food (e.g. salmon, re-use a bag used to cook salmon, etc). I do not re-use a bag that has stored raw meat and not used for cooking (like if freezing a piece of meat). Usually I can get one or 2 other times out of a bag– but certainly not the 12 or so the company advertises. The bags will still seal, but may not vacuum seal after 2-3 times of use. However, if you read the recipe books, a vacuum seal is not always needed for food safety. I still like this system the best because the bags are very sturdy and I trust the composition as being food grade.I have never had one open up during cooking. I use these in conjunction with a Wolf multi-cooker with a sous vide setting. The only issue I have is that sometimes the bags will float, so I either put a spoon in the bottom prior to sealing, or place a metal utensil on top of the bag to keep submerged. But if using a pot with a circulator, one uses clips to keep bags from floating. I really love sous vide for chicken breasts, salmon, and cheaper cuts of beef. Be sure to order the multi size pack at first– then you can order the sizes you seem to use the mostrite your review here. It must be at least 10 characters long. Works quite well and is compact enough to store with minimal space. Easy to use buttons My only complaint is that the bags are very expensive. They are re-usable, but the seals take up space and reduce the amount of stuff you can put in them after every use. I found less expensive bags from another brand. Be sure to start sealing from the bottom so you don't impede the ability to add contents when you re-use.Lisa

Great company & machine. I called on a Friday after closing and they answered the phone, answered a few questions I had about the machine and told me if I wanted one I needed to put my name on the list. I thought it over and went online and ordered. It took 3 weeks to get and I have no regrets. Machine came looking like it had just been boxed. Not a scratch even on the cardboard. It was strapped to a wood pallet with a box inside a box, wrapped in plastic & shrink wrapped. All it was missing was a big red bow on the top. Machine is fast to pull vacuum even without the filler plate. I am very pleased with the machine with only 1 upgrade it would be perfect…. Great customer service! Because of the the Covid cargo issues my VP 230 was scheduled 4 weeks out but it arrived several weeks earlier. It arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. It did take the whole bottle of oil to fill the reservoir. as the instructions said 3 – 3.5 ounces. The machine worked flawlessly, absolutely love it. Shipper was able to delay delivery by one day so that I could be present for delivery. Box showed up in good condition but the tip-and-tell was activated; I did not refuse shipment and luckily the vacuum machine was not damaged and it works great. I am a home-use sportsman and using a foodsaver was time consuming with marginal results. This machine seals bags one after the other with almost no down time, no fuss, no mess at all even when sealing in saltwater. I'm very happy with it. I've had a similar product from a different brand in the past but the biggest difference is the removable drip tray. While the old product had a drip tray to catch any liquid that was pulled out in the sealing process, you had to clean it without being able to remove it from the machine. As you can imagine, this didn't make cleaning it very easy since it's a very slim channel. This model has an easily removable tray that is top shelf safe in the dishwasher. The process of sealing is very easy with the hands free part. My only complaints are this; I've had a few different bags where there were pockets of air left once the bag was supposedly fully removed of air and then heat sealed (so I couldn't choose to remove more air). I'd like if there were an option to run another air removal cycle before heat sealing the bag. The other minor complaint is that I'd like for there to be a valve to connect a tube accessory so you could use the tupperware like containers should you choose to purchase said accessory later on.Acbbittel

I was always intrigued by this machine and finally decided to try it for myself. I’m so glad I did! This Seal-A-Meal is so practical, yet so amazing! It came with a few starter bags so I could get started sealing right away. I used it to seal bags of leftovers that I turned into freezer meals for another day. I also used it to seal some dessert bars so they would stay fresher longer. When I buy meat in bulk, I can split it into bags and vacuum seal them before putting them in the freezer. I can even reseal opened snack bags and cereals so they don’t get stale nearly as fast. It’s well worth the small investment for such great returns. Not only is this machine so helpful and handy, it is also so easy to use. Plug it in, place the edge of your filled bag in the machine, press down and done! No more wasted food around here!Lady Luck

I'm very happy with this device – it's so easy to use! Slot the opening of the bag into the machine, close and hold the lid down. After a couple of seconds, it sucks the air out of the bag and locks the lid while it seals it. A few more seconds and the job is done. The vacuum part is optional. It's best to make sure you don't have too much liquid in with whatever you're trying to seal when using the vacuum. Any liquid drawn out is held in a drip tray that is easily removable for cleaning. I did find that the liquid could prevent a perfect seal, but items without excess liquid, like chicken breasts, did form a perfect vacuum seal. The unit itself is very compact, and easily stores with the bags in the pantry. The power cord is short, but that's ok for something like this that isn't going to be out on the counter for long.James73

This thing ROCKS !!! Ordered on Thursday afternoon, it arrived Saturday afternoon. Immediately used it to reseal the things my previous sealer failed on. Made & sealed 8 bags, 16 seals in a row. It was not even warm to the touch when finished. Fan runs continuously & I love that. Fan is really quiet. Seal strip is only on for 3 seconds or less and makes a wide, perfect seal. I absolutely love it so far. Also love the 5 year warranty.Mike

I will start by saying I have now processed two deer using the sealer and can confirm without a doubt it ran for over four hours without having to stop to cool down. This is why I paid the extra money and I expected no less. If you are an avid hunter or fisherman and need a sealer that can handle extended use periods then I can say look no further. It did work well with the large number of competitor bags. But I will say I will likely be purchasing the LEM bag material in the future as it feels thicker and may resist punctures better in the freezer. The unit is large, heavy, and requires a large work space. But once you get it setup and become familiar with its operation you can be very efficient in processing and sealing.Before I get into areas that could be improved let me say I did have some issues with the first unit I received. But LEM customer support was VERY good to work with and actually ended up sending me a replacement unit and I returned the original on an RMA. I was VERY happy to see LEM stand behind there product.Now for areas that could be improved most of which are cosmetic and at least thus far have not affected the operational efficiency of the unit. But they do detract from the appearance of a quality unit.1. Control panel sticker on top of unit is not aligned. One side is 1/8 closer to front of unit than the other side.2. Teflon tape covering sealer bar has wrinkles in it. I can see where the wrinkle is in the seal on the bag material but thus far it has not caused any issues.3. Bag cutter – the blade puts a crimp or slightly cuts the edge of the bag at an angle. This is likely due to the design of how the blade engages the material and how tight the rail holds the bag material. The bag cutter and rail is made out of plastic and I can see wear on it just after few hours of use. I have experimented with different amounts of pressure applied in an effort to see how best to get the cutter to cut bags.4. Bag holder – The holder/cutter is made out of plastic and slides down into a slot on the back of the unit. The design allows you to quickly attach/detach the holder to the main unit. But as mentioned the cutter could be better. Additionally there are two plastic plates that sit loosely in molded slots. The plates can be dislodged and/or fallout very easily.5. Sealer door – make no mistake everything (except bag holder) on this unit is heavy duty. As such, the sealing door is not exception. The door has not tension or spring but stands straight up by itself when open. However, when you are trying to create the first seal to create a new bag it is very easy to start to close the door and if you don't have a good grip on it will drop down very quickly and hard. Creating the first seal when creating a new back takes some practice especially since the cutter can wrinkle the edge of the bag. You must hold the material over the sealer plate but NOT in the vacuum chamber, ensure it is straight, close the door with the other hand, apply slight pressure on the door top, and then press the seal button on the top.Again I do highly recommend the sealer simply because it has proven it can run for extended periods without having to stop to cool down. The areas I mention above are minor and mostly did not affect effectiveness of the unit but if addressed I would have given the unit 5 stars instead of 4.Camden

Great machine, I have only processed 2 deer so far with it, but I love the manual mode. I had a food saver vacuum sealer and it would never suck enough of the air out. With this vacuum sealer it did the same when using the automatic mode and there would be pockets of air behind the meat in the bag, but I started using the manual mode hit vacuum, then push the air bubbles of to the side and it would take the air right out, then when ready just hit seal. It seals great, just need to make sure you either put a paper towel in the bag to soak up moisture or make sure there isn’t any liquid because that will prevent a good seal. It will be worth the cost as long as it last for many years. I use this to process my deer and I use the LEM bags/rolls. Very happy with it so far!Wesley

After a small problem with a loose wire, the Avid Armor USVX is working great. It's nice to be able to seal meats and other cooked items without having to freeze them first as I did with my old Foodsaver system. Also, the first seal does it. I don't have to seal the same bag 2 or 3 times to get a good seal as I did with the Foodsaver. The capacity of USVX and the light weight (18 lbs) were also very acceptable to me. All the others were double the weight or much more and would be difficult to store and pull out of a cabinet. Also I prefer the preset times for vacuum and seal. I know myself and thought I'd spend too much time and waste too many bags with option of setting number of seconds for each. My only reservation was the lack of replacement parts, but as it's a new model, I'm hoping they will be available long before they're needed.Bob W.

I love this little chamber vacuum sealer! The sleek design takes up much less room than the other designs I researched! My very first order of business was to create some smaller bags out of the ones included with the USVX to vacuum seal my oxygen absorbers into much smaller quantities and that was a breeze! It will vacuum seal pint size jars and smaller right in the chamber! I borrowed my son's FoodSaver jar attachment kit to see if it would work for quart size and larger jars! I was able to attach the hose included with the USVX into the female end of the hose that came with the FoodSaver jar kit and it worked like a champ! Because I always worry about a random defect in a jar, I may purchase the canister set from Avid Armor to seal my quart size jars as I have been assured by support at Avid Armor that the canister set is compatible with the USVX!Kerri G.

Hey you, Avid Armor USVX. I have a crush on you. You haven't failed me once, not in the quick pickles, not in teriyaki infused pork, not in hydrating my pizza dough. I even built a contraption for you. Yes, you! A double walled 3.5 gallon bucket system that I used to externally marinate. Yesterday was my first day, it works perfectly and I plan to do some big batch marinates in the bucket, including wings. I got the idea from MagicChef's gastronorm, but mine is bigger and cost $20. I also wish you came with a few different length of hoses. I would LOVE to work for Avid Armor because this is the best kept secret and honestly, there isn't a lot of information out there about utilizing chamber sealers. The experiments are fun, but thank you USVX for being so much better than a way more expensive other brand model that I returned.Jon L.

Works great right out of the box. It is so easy to use, not complicated at all. It latches down by pushing on each side – you have to exert some pressure, but nothing too difficult. It is small and very lightweight – easy to find a place for it on the coubnter. I ordered additional attachments, and am excited to see how well it works with those items. I am not planning to use it with anything messy, so I cannot comment on the cleanup factor.Nif

Got the Nutrichef PKVS18SL as a replacement for a competitor product that had inferior results and could not be happier. Sleek compact design with all the whistles and bells. Superior suction and I love the gentle mode for soft items such as romaine lettuce and avocado shells. I will utilize the cannister/tupperware function and like that it can be stored separately. The wine cork accessory is a nice addition. All said and done this product feels like it will stand the test of time.Jason O

I received this PKVS18SL food ealer as a wedding present. W put it to use right away to seal up the leftovers from the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. it worked great! removed all the air from the bag and sealed it up tight. it was great not having to waste food and be able to save it for later.Corey

Replaced a 15-yr old FoodSaver. New one is quicker, quieter, and takes up less counterspace. These machines literally pay for themselves. I've not thrown a stale bag of chips since I got one. Don't vacuum, just put the open bag on the heat strip, lock it and press 'seal'. Chips stay fresh much longer. Ditto with all kinds of food bags. Vac pack cheese and you'll never lose any. It's great, inexpensive, and works well. One big problem, though, is that the accessory hose, which you need if you want to use it to seal up canisters, etc., breaks easily and often,. I've already gone through three of them. It's not an expensive part ($3) except it's out of stock everywhere right now. Because they break easily and often. Price gougers are selling it for $16 on eBay, but that's the only place you can find them. They should sell them by the 12-pak. Be very careful with the green part of the accessory hose, where it snaps into the machine.claster

I have only used this machine twice and it won’t seal. The seal doesn’t even get warm. It has never sealed properly for me. So I am out money on bags and the machine. I really wanted this to work as I buy in bulk as well as get my own meat. I am nervous to try another one.HeatherF

I bought this in December and really like it for dry goods. It's fine for moist items as well but for anything with a marinade, it doesn't work very well. The drip tray fills very quickly and spills over into the slide out drawer. I have tried to remove the drawer but I don't think it comes out. Cleaning just the drip tray does not adequately clean the area. In fact, when I turned over the machine, there are black moveable pieces that hang down and they were covered with marinade. I couldn't clean those off. Not being able to adequately clean the residue is very unsanitary. I can't believe the designers wouldn't allow for the slide out tray to be removed….unless I am missing something. When I attempted to chat (since nobody is around to answer calls) I was connected to someone but they never responded to my question, even after waiting 10 minutes.Lisazee

I just purchased the v4440. It doesn’t seal the empty bags and doesn’t have strong enough suction to correctly vacuum seal the full bags. So so very disappointed in this product. I had an old model that had finally stopped working. This newer model is a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. I’ll be calling customer service in the morning to get a full refund. I used to love this product. This seals liquids as well as solids. Sturdy, super easy to clean, no worries about liquids getting into the vacuum. It is loud, and heavy but it seals well, so I can overlook these issues. This can save your settings, if you want it. I like that it has varying degrees of vacuum so no worries about crushing delicate items. Only draw back (other than weight and size) is there isn't a way to just seal a bag without going through the vacuum process (unless I missed something). Otherwise, this is the best and most durable vacuum sealer I've ever owned. I'm sure this will last me a life time, and can be passed on to my son, the professional chef.carolyn

We use this everyday. We are avid gardeners and grow our own meat. I was not sure how I felt spending this kind of money. My husband is a truck driver and takes all his food with him. So we've been using a small version of seal a meal for a while. They don't always seal well. This sealer on the other hand is awesome. You can control how much vacuum to use and it seals tightly. We love it!!DJ trucker
