Are you looking to upgrade your lawn care game with an electric ride on mower? Investing in a high-quality model can make maintaining your lawn feel effortless, but with so many options on the market, it can be tricky to decide which mower is right for you. When shopping for the best electric ride on mower, there are a few key factors to consider.
First and foremost, think about the size of your yard. Larger yards with acres of grass need a mower with more power and a larger cutting deck, while smaller lawns can get by just fine with more compact models. Make sure to get a mower with a cutting deck width that matches the scope of your mowing needs.
You’ll also want to consider terrain. If your yard is flat and even, just about any standard electric ride on mower will do. However, if you have hills, bumps, or uneven ground, look for a mower with thicker, more durable tires that can handle the challenge. Ground clearance is important in this case too.
Are there any obstacles, corners or landscaping features in your yard? The more maneuverable your mower, the easier it will be to get around trees, garden beds, and tight spots. Pay attention to turning radius specs and joystick controls.
How much time do you want to spend mowing each week? Faster mowers will get the job done quicker. Look at motor power, blade speed, and maximum speeds to estimate mowing time.
Ready to find your match made in mowing heaven? Let’s talk options for the best electric ride on mower for your unique lawn. What size yard do you need to maintain? Are there any tricky terrain issues to navigate? Together, we can pinpoint the perfect mower for maximizing your lawn care with minimum hassle. Why waste time struggling with a lackluster mower when the right electric ride on can make mowing a breeze? Let’s find it!

Reviews:
I love how the mower drives/rides, and it has excellent cut quality. The thing is an absolute blast to drive and cut with, too. There are software updates, which is neat. I like the idea that it may get better over time. That being said, when they say "Up to 2 acres," they really mean the "Up to" part. I have 1 acre lot and had to buy an extra battery (the 12 amp, because no where had the 10 amp in stock) to finish it on one charge, and if I'm trying to go at a faster pace (4/5 speed, blades 4/6) I still can't do without charging even with the extra 12 amp battery. If you go slow, you aren't cutting the grass down too much, and you're not mulching, maybe it can do 2 acres. If I wanted to take that long to do my lawn, I would have kept my lawn tractor. Another issue I have had is that when using the mulching plug, the blades stop if I'm trying to cut it 3 inches or under after about 6 – 10 feet because it can't handle the load of the grass building up. This of course will depend on the length and type of grass, but with an advertised 22 HP equivalent, this should not happen. This was the case when only cutting down less than an inch. It's definitely not all bad, though. The deck wash feature is nice, the fact it has a USB charger, different cup holder sizes and storage are all nice to have creature comforts. The seat is very comfortable as well and you can finish mowing without needing your back re-aligned. Maybe they can fix the mulching issue with a software update later. Also, it tows like a dream, so if you want to roll/aerate/dethatch or anything like that, it's fully capable. I'm not sure if I would buy this given what I know now . I would have probably waited for more range and a bit more power, which is coming with the 54'' mower that's coming out. If you have a smaller lot this will probably work for you, otherwise make sure more batteries are in stock.Kevin 321
Having owned 34 inch Arians zero turn gas mower with a 14 hp Briggs & Stratton engine (engine died after 5 years) ,and I have also owned a Ryobi 480me 38” electric riding mower both for 5 years ( battery was losing capacity) , I am neither new zero turn mowers or electric mowers. Compared to the gas it’s refreshing to have quiet, reduced maintenance and not having to breathing the fumes especially when parking in the shed. I am able to cut my grass sideways in the ditch whereas my gas version I could only do up and down as it would just turn to the bottom. It’s a crutch of all zero turn mowers but the Ego handles it much better. Compared to the prior will be electric with lead acid batteries, it has both way more power and better control of speed, blade speed and different control mode. The lead acid batteries just did my acreage when they were new, the Ego I did my acreage and the ditch and I had 50% of the battery left. Being a zero turn it also does the job a lot faster as I have lots of obstacles and irregular shape of my lawn. The Ego powertrain is quieter than the Ryobi electric. I haven’t cut any deep grass with it yet as I am currently in a drought and it’s the fall, so the real test will come in the spring. The only thing I don’t like about it is the deck makes a lot of noise when it’s going fast over bumps, a lot more than the other two mowers. I think the frame is good because a lot of times and uneven surfaces when we will be in the air which suggests a strong frame but maybe you need some bushings just to get rid of the noise from the vibration in the deck, Ryobi had way less. I also wish it came with 12 amp hour batteries. This is my first mower where you can attach a hose to clean the deck which to me is important. I also wish the batteries were under the seat to reduce overall length of the mower for easier storage but that’s just nitpicking. The Lawn Surgeon
I'd give it 5 stars but that would imply I have no reservations. I do have two: 1) The lowest speed setting is not of much use. It would be good because this slow speed is useful for getting the best mulching. But if you have even minor slopes the mower will drift down that way when going across the slope. Moving the control arm fully forward on that downhill side causes the mower to almost stop. So the slow speed setting should be a bit higher – or the speed settings should be adjustable somehow. 2) Mulching: using what appears to be the default blade speed (2600 RPM) mulches OK but not great. I also have the EGO 21" self propelled mower. It really mulches well – but it has two stacked blades and has a blade speed of 2700. So I think if you want to get acceptable mulching you need to set a blade speed of at least 2800 RPM. I still thing have blades like the 21" mower would be best – realizing this may lower the amount of available mowing time. All-in-all I really like the zero turn mower. I'm glad I bought it. I had a 46" 21 HP mower that mulched pretty well. But I don't miss the noise and exhaust and mowing seems to take less time now with the 42" EGO. That's probably because I'm forced the use the higher mowing speed to have better control.TDem

Reviews:
Excellent mower, mows well over an hour and a half before needing a charge, we can get almost 2 acres done in that time. Very maneuverable, a bit bumpy when at maximum speed but slowing down a bit makes a big difference. Sometimes I wish I had gotten the bigger version to reduce the cutting time a bit but spending time mowing is relaxing so no big deal.Peter
I have had my Ryobi 30" rider for 2 summers. Maybe 40 hours on it, about 1 year and 5 months I have owned it. It has worked great until recently. Blades stopped working and than the motor would stop after a few minutes. My whole issue is the customer service. Don't fall for the 3 year warranty crap (yes I will take a bit of blame, I didn't read the fine print). When I finally found a company to fix my rider (another issue repair companies hate dealing with Ryobi). I had to drive 45 minutes away to get it fixed "under warranty" to be told after they diagnosed it that all 4 batteries need to be replaced and Ryobi doesn't warranty the batteries for more than the manufacturer warranty which is 1 year from date of purchase. Forgot to mention that each battery is $242 and I need all 4 apparently. After talking with Ryobi customer service and getting very upset with them, they mentioned that I should deal directly with the battery manufacturer. Way to stand by your product Ryobi. Pass the buck to someone else. Let's do the math. $4000 for a new machine. $1000 every 2 years for new batteries. I will not be able to sell my Ryobi rider fast enough and going back to a gas engine rider. My 20 or so Ryobi tools will be gone as soon as I decide which platform to start going with. If Ryobi can not stand by there product than they don't deserve my business ever again, and I will make that known with every Ryobi tool I sell and new tool I buy from whichever new platform I decide to go with. I convinced my wife that going electric was the way to go. It will be worth the extra money in the long run I told her. I have never had such a 180° flip on my attitude with regards to Ryobi. I used to tell everyone how happy I am with Ryobi. Never again.Goalierem
Just what I needed for my 1/4 acre lawn. Only noise comes from the two cutting motors. Perfect, with lots of time left before I need to recharge. Takes me about 45 minutes. Took an hour and half before and worked up a sweat. Just need to work on smoothing out the bumps in my yard.Steve

Reviews:
Worst product on the market! Worked great for the first season, hasn't worked right for the last 3 years! Ryobi has no factory service in Michigan near me. Terrible tech support, doesn't run more than 10 minutes and has to be recharged. Three year warranty is useless. They give you mouth service for three years until the warranty is up, then the extended 3 year warranty from(Asurion) Home Depot kicks in and so far nothing but lip service from them too. They tell you that they're
going to buy it back for the purchase price, then change there mind. I paid around $2899.00 with the extended warranty and it's only good for a boat anchor! DON'T BUY RYOBI PRODUCTS !!!!! They don't stand behind there products and either does Asurion.Dave Bosco
other than a flat tire, which I managed to fix myself, the owners guide does not tell you how to get the tire off. The first call to Ryobi, the guy gave me wrong directions, the second call to Ryobi, the guy gave me correct info, especially on how to get the cotter pin out. I have somewhat steep areas to mow and the mower is very safe downhill but a little scary uphill (must go fast, not slow). love the quiet and fast speed when not mowing!kd4pjq
I didnt buy this mower to use as a mower so much as to use as an electric cart to pull garden trailers with. I think it is somewhat underpowered as a mower, but I took the mower deck off and it makes an awesome electric cart!! No more fighting to start the gas engines when I stop and start frequently with trips around my couple if acres with utility wagons if some sort. Fir my purposes it is fabulous! Very happy with it. And the batteries last a long time when not powering a mower.varne-aliso

Reviews:
I purchased this rider to alleviate some of the pains of owning a typical gasoline powered riding lawn tractor. To my surprise its even better than expected. I no longer have to deal with fluids, belts or saying a little prayer for it to start when I need to mow the lawn. The ONLY maintenance I have found I need to do so far after owning this tractor a couple months is to keep the deck and exterior clean. Every two mows I plug it in for a charge and hoist it up to clean out any grass in the deck. Some benefits I've noticed with this particular tractor is how quiet it is, especially if doing mulch, gravel or something that requires getting on off the tractor repeatedly you're not starting an engine, making a bunch of noise just to shut it off a few moments later. Even mowing is significantly quieter than a gas powered. My neighbors think its awesome.. and maybe even a little jealous. I will say that since owning this machine I use it for more tasks than I would bother to with my old lawn tractor just because its quiet, easy to maneuver and it's just fun!RadCubOwner
My initial thought when making this purchase was, "we'll see how it goes" after reading a lot of mixed reviews. We decided to take the plunge going electric. It has performed well for us. We have just over 2 acres of semi flat land and find it very capable of mowing and pulling the tow-behind, all over. I have a dealer that can service this mower locally if needed. (I had done my research and called around before making this purchase, I only bought thru Home Depot because inventory was sold out at all three local dealers in my area) I've been super aware of how I'm treating this machinery. I do not like to leave it 'idle' with the key in when at a jobsite. Also keeping it from sitting out of direct sunlight. I clean the mower deck the same day or next day after a mowing session. Pros: -Not having to worry about gasoline, oil, spark plugs, etc. is a huge plus. I wish I had a mechanical background but I don't. -No gas means no emissions burned and breathed -As quiet as a golf cart when not mowing and far less noise when mowing compared to gas mowers. -Charging is simple and can be done after every use without worrying about battery drain because its Lithium Ion -It's a little work but a very simple process (if you're ok with getting your hands dirty) to unhook the mower deck to scrape grass out of it. I like to use a windshield scraper. -Manufacturer warranty is what sold me to just buy this thing. -I have not experienced issues with the position of the seat, no back issues (yet?) Cons: -Its electric – stay away from water to clean it -Its electric – make sure you have a dealer that can service it for you should you need it. The majority of dealers are still not too keen on going electric or helping you find an electric mower (writing this from experience). -Number one issue with this model for me is the deck becoming uneven during a mowing session. It can be readjusted by screwing it tight again. -Black seat means HOT seat when leaving it in the sun for a few minutes. -From what I've read, this model is missing some features that should be included for this price point. -Might be a little too light for some jobs because of the weight it doesn't carry from a gas engine. For me, it does clatter around on bumpy ground, not a big deal, but noticeable. -Need to have a winter storage strategy so you don't damage the battery. In closing. I've owned the XT1 42LTe for a month with over 5 hours of use. I've used this to mow and am still getting used to it. I've been using it the most with a tow-behind trailer and love it. I will admit to coddling this piece of machinery because I love how much it helped me with my work.J_in_Wisconsin
I bought this today from my local Home Depot. I've been wanting one of these for a year and finally was able to get it. It was already assembled but the battery was dead so I couldn't try it at the store. I got it home and charged the battery, jumped on, set the parking brake and put the 'key' in the slot. Immediately I see two error codes on the display – E108 and E113. The battery is fully charged, I've checked all the connections that I can see and everything looks correct. The owner's manual is useless with no real help as to what the codes mean or how to troubleshoot. I called Cub Cadet but it's Sunday so they're closed. I searched online and found several other people having the same problems with the same mysterious error codes and no help reported from Cub Cadet. I called Home Depot and they just said bring it back… It's late and I have no help loading it so tomorrow it will go back to the store. So much for my dream mower. Worst purchase ever.Roussell

Reviews:
My neighbor needed a mower. I showed her my CC30H and she loved how easy it was to drive. I told her they also had an all electronic model in this size as well the CC30E. She bought the electronic version. I took it for a spin was really shocked how quiet it was compared to the gas model. I mean it was REALLY QUIET. anyway I just wanted to say I think cub cadet did a really nice job and I was so happy watching her enjoy her independence. 2 thumbs up from meNieghbor
I really like this machine, I have problems with the seat switch it keeps shutting it off and it Hass to reset itself to get it back started. I am 5 foot five and too short to reach the pedals I sit really awkward in the seat in a reclining position just so I can reach the pedal. It’s also very difficult for someone who has never had a riding lawnmower to figure out by themselves. No instructions where given in the store. Parts were missing when we picked it up, took the store 4 months to contact me and let me pick them up. Bought at Runnings in Lockport NY. My opinions are based on this mower, never gad a riding mower before.Snowflake2
We bought the cc30e when our XT1 died in August. We have a few issues. we are short and have small feet which means the seat is all the way up to reach the pedals. First issue, seat is so hard to adjust and even though it's all the way forward, we still need a pillow behind our back to reach the pedals , was much easier on the XT1. The pedals are not adjustable, they forward and reverse pedals are too far spaced apart. The other issue is the switch under the seat is so sensitive every bump in the yard makes the seat go up causing the mower the cut off. Speaking of bumps, weres the suspension. There isn't any. It's a rough ride compared to our beloved xt1. You feel every bump. Which brings up the bagger. We loved the XT1 bagger, the bagger that came with the cc30e has 2 issues. First, the latch system, doesn't latch and you hit a bump and the top comes up and you don't know it until you turn around to realize it. Problem 2, unlike the XT1 bagger, there's no way to tell when it's full. It's a good idea, but poor executed. Due something so expensive, it should be a while lot better.Trent C

Reviews:
I found the mower up-to-task on my 1.2 acres, some sloped over 25 degrees. Traction excellent (rear wheel only on this model). I needed TWO batteries, as expected. So I exhaust the first and set it to charge…use the other. I actually exhausted the 2nd battery, but by then the first was already fully charged. Small rocks and sticks are inevitable, especially with the first mow on Spring, but the mower tolerated all well, ans dispatches small 1/8 inch twigs well (heavily treed areas here). Mulches well, not quite as well as my old walk behind gasoline model, but I'm happy with it. Rear tires tend to slip on soft ground, so I keep height setting to medium. Overall, this will work well. I cannot comment on longevity of the mower yet, but will update in a year or so. Equivalent otherwise with gasoline, so no worries. Won't likely use the bag attachment, which is smaller than I'd like. I just mulch and go. If mower becomes clogged with tall grass, motor speed increases, so that's a hint to watch to see that debris still exits the side chute. If none, time to stop the mower and clear chute/underside. I just wipe it out using globesThomas
Purchased this item a month ago. Mowed five times in a month, 3.5 acres. Lots to say here. First, I ordered a self propelled machine and got the push instead. Apparently out of the self propelled model and just sent me this one without asking. Well, despite 3.5 acres of mowing, I’ll take this one (push) as it seems to adjust to height of grass quickly and gives me more battery life time I assume. Second; the battery if used until it runs out is a solid 75 minutes of mowing. There are discrepancies in the ads saying 90 minutes and the manual saying 60 minutes. I’ll take the 75 minutes. It is an 80 volt 6 amp battery and does charge in an hour. So no complaints. Third, make sure to clean the under carriage frequently if grass is tall or moist. It builds up under there with grass gunk, and the motor just needs to be air cleaned after each use. Don’t use water. I find that doing this is not taking more time, rather a savings of time as it cleans faster than my gas mower did with all the particulars I had to check or fill (gas, oil). So I like this feature as well. Lastly, it appears to be durable. Blade is still sharp and doing its job. I’m impressed with that portion as well Overall it’s a smart purchase and trust me, a decision to go green that you won’t feel bad about.Mower Joe
This mower works well for small, wide-open yards with no walls or fences. It's easy to maneuver, easy to turn, and the battery is easy to plug in and detach and isn't bulky or heavy. The charger is great and very easy to use. The problem with spacing and walls is there is an inexplicable 6-inch wide "front bumper" on this mower that prevents you from pushing up closely against walls and fences, requiring you to turn the mower sideways to mow against a fence. This is not ideal or practical in most cases, because there simply isn't enough room. And that also makes this mower difficult to use in tight spaces, such as around shrubs. I'm not sure why this big gap exists on the front of the mower and have never seen it on any gas or electric mower I've used. The included 2W battery runs out, on average, in about 20 minutes, and takes 30-40 minutes to recharge. Obviously this isn't ideal, and on a yard larger than about 1/2 acre, you will be swapping out batteries a LOT and simply running out of juice. The charger cannot keep up with mowing and swapping. I knew this before buying, so it's hard to really complain, but buyers should have this info before buying and understand that this mower cannot be kept running continuously with two 2W batteries. There needs to be 10-30 minutes between each swap to make sure the new battery is fully charged. Overall, the mower is probably a little overpriced, but I suspect that's because the batteries are VERY expensive, and that is driving up the price of the mower. The cost of a new or battery alone is about the same price as a brand new gas mower. So considering that rechargeable lithium batteries always have a finite life, it remains to be seen whether the long-term cost of owning this mower is actually less than the cost of a gas mower. My initial estimate is that it will cost a lot more to buy and operate this mower over the long term (primarily because of periodic battery replacement) than a gas mower. So if you are interested in purely the cost-savings, this probably is not the answer. If your goal is to consume less or no fossil fuels, this is a great choice.BWSC

Reviews:
I wanted to wait at least a year before I wrote a review so here goes. I bought this mower last year to cut my nearly acre and a half flat yard. We have a lot of problems with drainage so I was constantly getting my riding mower stuck, plus the cost to repair it and the cost of gas was getting ridiculous. I was pretty much over the whole riding mower thing especially considering the environmental impact. I felt really guilty about having such a big yard when I read how much pollution the average lawnmower creates, and they only get something like seven or 8 miles to the gallon. Ugh. So I thought I’d give this a try and at least maybe cut my smaller front yard or as much as I could with it. Well it turns out it is so easy to use that I’m able to cut the entire thing. At this point I should probably also mention that I am 61 and a woman who is moderately fit. However my friend who is partially paralyzed and can only use one hand is able to operate this as well. As you can see by the picture due to the wetness it is often the case that the grass gets very high in the very back of our yard before we can get out and cut it. This mower had no problems although I suspect it wasn’t the greatest thing for it. I did have to make two passes but to be fair I think any mower would’ve been the same. Unless it is extremely hot or the grass is as tall as shown in the picture we can usually get it about 40 minutes before charging. And that is just enough time to take a little break before the next round of mowing. I like the fact that it isn’t very noisy and I can even mow at night if I need to. I like the improvement in my fitness since using this thing. I sit down at a computer all day so it’s great to just grab the mower at lunch and get a little workout in and it’s not strenuous really at all. As an added plus I’m able to track the exercise I use while mowing to get points for my insurance’s wellness program! So if you’re on the fence about going electric I highly recommend this mower, I love not having to get gas and all the other maintenance that that involves. For us it’s at least a 4 mile drive to the nearest gas station and it’s a royal pain. I can also mention that I bought a cheaper electric of a different brand and was not impressed – Which is why I did my homework before buying this one. Ego is now my ‘go to’ electric tool brand!Beverly in Cincy
I was EXTREMELY skeptical of a battery powered lawn mower, especially from a brand I had never heard of and would have never bought this if not for a glowing recommendation from a good friend. 3 months later, I have nothing but good things to say about the EGO Power+ LM2102SP-A 21 inch mower. Mostly, I wanted a lightweight, push button start mower to replace my 20 year old Craftsman. This was easily the lightest mower (gas or battery) that I considered. I think it's about 65 pounds. It's like pushing around a toy compared to my old mower. Sure, it's all plastic and may not last 20 years, but my Craftsman wouldn't have, either, without all kinds of repairs, duck tape and hose clamps. I love not even THINKING about gas, oil, air filters, priming or ear protection. I think my blow drier is louder. I worried about battery life, so I got the bundle with two 4.5 amp-hour batteries, thinking when one died, I could charge it while using the second. I have 3500-4000 sf of fescue and rye to mow and can do it all before the first battery dies, even when using the self propelled option the whole time. Maybe if all the grass was thicker, I would need the second battery. Yes, the charger charges really fast. I'd say it mulches about as well as my old mower. And it has no trouble pulling itself up the berm I have. It did take a little getting used to rear drive, but it seems most all self propelled mowers are rear drive now. I kept reading reviewers of other mowers complain about bagging issues, but this one has a wide enough chute, doesn't make a mess and the bag is much easier to empty than my old mower. Seems to be a roughly 2 bushel capacity. I really can't think of anything to dislike. It has plenty of (useful) blade height settings, plenty of speed settings and 3 handle settings. It folds up easily and can be stored vertically. I have no crystal ball to see how long the batteries will last, but so far it's been a great deal. No regrets.BatteryConvert
My gas self-propelled Honda started up every first time for 16+ years. I use it to trim where my yard tractor can't go. My hands/fingers/joints have osteoarthritis and this year they have really gotten bad. The first time I cranked up the Honda it hurt a lot and then having to push down with my thumbs to get it to self-propel, I knew I needed a change. This mower is easy to start for sure, quiet and the location/operation of the self-propel feature does not hurt my hands. It is lightweight and easy to turn etc. You can change the height of all four (4) wheels with just one (1) lever. The single battery provides more than enough of a charge to do what I needed it to do. The battery easily ejects so I can remove it and recharge. I bought it on sale at Lowe's and I'm very pleased so far with my purchase. I read a lot of reviews and was down to this mower and the GreenWorks with 80V two (2) large/heavy batteries. The GreenWorks had a super long warranty and was also on sale at Costco for the same $. I bought the GreenWorks and used it one time!!!! The lid on the battery compartment would not open too wide in order to get the batteries out to recharge them. I actually could NOT get the batteries out after the first use. It was NOT easy to operate and not lightweight. Very disappointed and I returned it. I am very pleased with this mower and look forward to using it for years to come.Jrvolover

10 Amp 15 in. Electric Lawn Mower with Pivot Control Handle |
Reviews:
My gas mower days are over because of age & arthritis. I wrenched my back out every time I tried to start it. So much happier to go back to electric although cords a little tricky. Only complaint I have is having to keep one thumb on top of either button to keep it going?thegirlinthebigbox
I have the largest part of my lawn mowed by a lawn service, but wanted a small mower, lightweight, and easy to start for smaller areas. I am almost 70, and just can't yank a cord anymore. This mower fit my needs perfectly!maryhe-73
it took about 45 minutes to unpack and get ready for the yard. everything went together fairly smooth. I used a very heavy duty power cord and it worked fine. I thought the push button was not working but when I pushed and held for a second it started up with no problem. adjusting the height was simple and quick but mower did not like any grass over 6 inches. using the pivot was very worrysome to me because I was not used to pushing a button and squeezing a lever to make the handle pivot so I mostly use the mower without pivoting the grass catcher seemed to work alright as long as you were moving slowly. the mower is very light and easy to pick up and move around. I am using it to mow around the areas the rider wont get to and in the garden area. a very well put together mower and should last a while with good maint.yellahammer

I use this mower in my back yard only. It is big but small enough that I can mow between getting my yard cut by my yard guy. The cord is aggravating because I have to keep flipping it out of the way. I get exercise when I cut the yard but if I could afford another mower I would probably get a gas mower. Also I love that this mower mulches.excercise
This is like a toy lawn mower. Literally, my 4-year-old can push it with no problem. Plugging it in is such a hassle because it always comes disconnected. The handle for the bag does not even attach properly, and the lawn mower it's just so small that I would only recommend this for an elderly person with a small patch of grassPersonwhostillneedsamower
i love that this machine is ligh-weight. I literally was able to use it with one hand. I have arthris and carpal tunnel and it didn't cause a lot of jarring or pain. It would be great if it had a chargeable battery because the long cord is an inconvenience, it does very well. My yard was overgrown and with a little bit of work I was able to get it under control and looking niceTon

10 Amp 15 in. Electric Lawn Mower with Comfort Grip Handle |
Reviews:
Although unit design no longer has cord–wrap storage brackets, the balance is superbly delivered. Rig is about 6 to 8 dB louder than a typical upright vacuum cleaner, (yes, it's that quiet). Machine has plenty of power, cutting 8–inch mixed grasses easily. Cord guide–bracket is a tight fit for industrial–sized 12 ga. extension cord, but it's manageable. Bag mounts easily and is quickly removed for emptying. Plastic appears to be solid and robust, time will tell if lasts without cracking and deterioration. For 1/4–acre or less sized lawns, this is a great choice. Vibration is minimal, 35 minutes of use did not cause any fatigue. Chafe only accumulates above deck at bag mounts, so is easily removed. Parts are readily available allowing one to maintain device properly.CD
Yes there are pros and cons with this lawnmower. Some of the pros are: It was easy to put together, although 2 people are a plus when putting it together. The enclosed directions are good and easy to follow. It's size and lightweight to works well in small and closed spaces. Another pro is it's powerful AC electric motor that runs the blade. I'm not sure this is a pro or con but except for the handle, blade and motor the entire unit (frame) is made of plastic including the wheels. I would have prefered rubber wheels. The cutting height is very easy to adjust. In my opinion this lawnmower would have been better as a cordless with about a 20 volt or more battery with charger. instead of a corded mower. The cord gets in the way of mowing but if you're used to a corded lawnmower you all ready know that. Somewhere in the directions it reads this is for 1/8 acre or less. That is definitely true. If a person lived in an apartment or condo with very little grass to mow this should work better than a string trimmer and give you more even grass cut. As far as edging close to a sidewalk or driveway a string trimmer or edging tool will work better. I would like to see the manufacturer do some more design and make this a cordless electric mower. The design is good, just not as a corded mower. Even though my front yard is less than 1/8 acre and I don't know anyone with a yard less than 1/8 acre, I would not recommend this to anyone, although I do like it. Front yard here we come.CardinalBB
I’m sorry, I don’t like to be negative, I try to find the positive in everything, but I don’t like much, if anything, about this mower. First issue was it just looked cheap. Plastic, lightweight, the wheels are basic plastic similar to the wheels on my sons toy wagon, no joke. Assembly seemed very simple and quick, since it’s so small it comes mostly assembled in the box except for the bagger and handle so you would think simple, right? Nope. Couldn’t get the handle screws on, it was like they were both stripped, just kept spinning and spinning and wouldn’t tighten. After about twenty minutes of both my husband and I trying, we quit! Luckily my husband has what we needed to get it together with regular bolts and nuts and it worked perfectly. THIS DOES NOT COME WITH A CORD. So we had to go purchase a long outdoor cord to try it out FYI. It’s rather cumbersome to be pushing around a lower and holding a cord out of the way at the same time. Much like I do when vacuuming. It ran a bit more quiet than my gas mower which was nice. Didn’t cut grass as well though. As you can see in my picture it’s all different lengths. Bottom line, for me, this is a huge pass! It might be ok for an elderly person who has a small yard and needs a lightweight unit. For the average yard. No, not at all a fan.Riviesmom

Reviews:
This mower is awesome. Super light weight, easy to put together and even easier to use. The 3 blades on the bottom cut evenly and with ease. The hovering part makes it move across the yard with amazing ease. I am able to control this with one finger. Super simple start but still has a safety control in place, this is nice except my handicapped hubby can't start it without my help. The only flaw I can find is on my end and my extension cord not being long enough to complete my full yard without moving outlets several times. The simple move over the driveway and sidewalk is super helpful and doesn't hurt the blades. I would suggest this to anyone with a small yard or ones who don't mind moving cords around.Westmiller81
I purchased the Sun Joe MJ-HVR12E Electric Hover Mower because the traditional gas powered pull start mowers are sometimes cumbersome. If you have a small yard, then this is the perfect little mower for you. It is light weight, making it easy to set up and move. And I love the fact that I never have to worry about gassing it up. Provided a nice crisp cut with little effort. Also, won't take up too much space in your garage!TamiT13
UNREAL awesome grass cutter. Definitely hovers!! (Make sure you get the right extension cord tho. One for outside.) As for the grass clippings, the powerful air blowing literally sends the grass flying away. Spreads it out …. makes a pretty yard. Comes with a fantastic instruction booklet. Hardly anything to put together. Just screw in a couple of knobs. I can only hope this lasts for many years to come, bcz it is so easy to use and it cuts so well. Came with two replacement blades. I'm an older adult …. need things super easy in the yard. This Sun Joe literally made my work a hundred times easier. So grateful I found it.Cj

Reviews:
I was looking for a replacement for my 35 year old gas mower that was getting tired. I found this Greenworks 20 inch 12 Amp corded lawn mower at a very good price point. Using a corded electric mower is relatively easy when you mow progressively away from the point of plugging in the extension cord, I looked at the Extension cord requirements & opted to "UpSize" to 12/3 versus the minimum 14/3 called for in the user manual,This way I am assured of getting full power at the end of a 100 foot cord & if necessary I can extend out to 150 feet with the 12/3 cord specification. This 20 inch mower is very powerful compared to a gas engine mower and the sublime quietness of the electric motor is nice versus the ROAR of a gas engine, I was easily able to mow through 12 inch high grass by making 3/4 wide swaths through the tall grass & proceeding slowly which is easy in 90F heat. For my initial use of this mower I opted to use the side discharge chute because using the grass catcher would have required many empty-ings of the catcher due to the grass height. I really like the easy of setting the cutting height with 1 lever & at 3-3/4 inches it is the height I wanted in a lawn mower so that I do not scalp the lawn like I see professional mowers do, There is no greater joy than the feeling of using a well made New lawn mower after nursing my old gas engine unit for "just another mowing season". I like the pleasant Green color of this mower's deck & the large diameter wheels make mowing on uneven ground very easy. This mower has much to prove to me given its predecessor, bobaro
Was about 80% through my first mowing w/Greenworks 12 Amp 20! Corded Lawn Mower, and the mower stopped. Checked various obvious causes, including power outlet blew the breaker (no), letting it sit a while and then try again, etc. The mower itself does not have a breaker switch on it, so am wondering if my mower is an earlier version (some PDFs of the parts show this, but pix on the GW site show a mower w/o a breaker, and looks like mine). Wondering if the Rectifier went south? I saw this on another post, and am going to poke about for one of those… a response from support with their thoughts would be helpful!SamSam
I have no doubt that I will love my new lawnmower if I ever get it. It arrived almost three weeks ago the only problem that it was a chainsaw. I’m 79 years old and I don’t think I have what it takes anymore to mow my yard with a chainsaw. I first tried to straighten this out the day I got it but being 57th in line and staying on the phone for 3 1/2 hours I almost gave up. Finally got to talk with D. Cacciatore. He was very nice but even though I’ve messsaged him almost every day since, nothing has happened.! I’m still tripping over an unopened box with a chainsaw on the label. I know I’m getting older every day but I figured out that you can’t fit a lawnmower in a chainsaw box. Please, please help me. At the rate this is going I’ll be in heaven by the time it arrives and I’m quite sure that I won’t need to mow up there. Thank you Greenways. I understand that you have a great product and I’m looking forward to trying it. .

Reviews:
Don’t buy it. Yes, it’s not expensive but it’s not worth it. I have a small yard and I though this will be great for me. Doing it myself. I was wrong. The mover will not stay locked in place. You have to keep stopping to put it back together. It’s very frustrating to keep stopping and placing it back together.Sarah
I love this mower/trimmer. I have a very rocky, sticky, hilly, (aka crappy) yard. This thing does the trick better than any other mower I have tried. The trimmer does come out of the base sometimes but you just pop it back in and it's fine. I got the plug-in kind because I didn't want to deal with running out of battery power, etc. I am happy that I did because it never dies. No more messing around with gas and oil, no more stinky fumes, no more pulling my arm out of the socket to start the darn thing. The only thing you need to buy for this baby is some spools of the trimmer string, press the button and you're mowing. It is actually more like vacuuming your yard! Super easy and even a little fun considering I really hated mowing with a traditional mower. The blade mowers always cut too low and messed up my already sparse grass because of the hills. This sweet little puppy just glides smoothly and leaves the top level of soil in tact for a nicer looking mow. It is very light weight as well. Cuts through my weeds like butter, mows right over the rocks, stumps, and sticks without skipping a beat. Seriously, get it. I love mine.Anna
This is the neatest gadget I have ever used or seen. Easy to assemble and adjust to do the yard cutting and weed wacking. But if you are in a hurry forget this. Has a small cutting sweep. My husband loves it. Only weights 9 pounds so this give him exercise and he can still keep the yard neat without wearing him out. Can't say enough about this product if you have a small yard.cecilia

Great mower, quiet, effective. Not as powerful as gas powered when grass is wet.
I got this mower last fall in Peterborough Ont. I love it and I have converted it to solar . It is completely charged by the sun. The solar panel also provides great shade. The major problem so far is you cannot buy replacement blades in Home Depot Canada. You can see my youtube video ( save the world go green)topsoil71

This thing is truly awesome. My kids love driving it around and you cant even hear this thing while you're driving until you turn on the blades. High quality everywhere on this item. You can tell right out of the crate. Looking forward to not having to worry about leaking oil, gas, etc.MJ
ok what i like. No gas hands down i cant stand the smell and the fumes are the worst. i really like the color its very sleek and modern and appeals to my taste atheistically. The lights are a neat idea now if im stuck working late i xan still mow when i get home and not worry about being able to see the cut lines and being brushless and electric its quiet enough to mow without disturbing the neighbors. what i dont like. The listed price is almost double thebRyobi 30in 50ah electeic mower with identifal specs thsts offered by the same people that make this mower. i dont like the negative inpact it has on the environment profit isnt progress no matter how much gas your end result doesnt require. Slowly relaseaing "new tools" and "innovative" gear with "New features" to repalce the less then months old previous version you released and desigining to be obsolete is tacky. i do like the colors tho. and not dealing with yucky gas smell is nice id feel even better if all the graphite these lithium batteries require wasnt having such adverse affects on the westher where its being produced but i can deal with it as its out of sight out of mind.JrNeedMoreClamps
The service was terrible, just put it in the middle of my driveway and left it there on the pallet. No help with anything, wouldn't even pit it in the shed for me. I am without any kind of help; I didn't know it would come like this with no help. I would have paid for it if it was offered.Sharon

Reviews:
I bought this about a week ago as a dual purpose secondary mower/carryall. It mows well a really nice looking lawn afterwards and this should be expected being new blades and deck on the first couple mows. My grass is mixed in the areas where it is mostly going to be used city grass ( st augustine, and such) will be great and batteries should last a good long time on this, however I decided to also try it on country grass which has a mix of bahaia and other grasses it did well on this but put a larger load on the mower and at times I slowed down to a crawl. The larger load of course made additional drain on the battery. Our about 3 acres took about 3 charges with just a bit of the rougher areas left to do with our larger mower as it has air ride seat. I figured I could mow all the city grass and have plenty of power left for my dad to use it as his shop transport. One thing to note the chargers draw a hefty amount so make sure they are on an unused circuit or on a large draw one so it does not kick out. Also the time should be about the same for this mower to our larger one since it is faster 60" zero turn vs 42" with a steering wheel. Also when charging make sure to have the units in a well ventilated area as they put off some decent heat. Getting used to a steering wheel also slows me down a bit. I also would have loved an alarm for mowing in reverse rather than holding a button ,it cuts off if you release the button before coming to a complete stop. I hope I answered all of the questions you may have cause these were the questions I had and maybe a few more:) OH and it is super quiet less noise than a good wet/dry vac! Only cons I can really have is that I wish it were available in 50 inch or so and the fact you have to remove the batteries to charge. Another pro is the fact we do not have to change oil in the engine or add gas also worrying about the spindles for the blades is gone though I am sure sooner or later the motors will have to be changed. I keep coming back to the top and adding things. I bought this mower at TSC.Thehunt
This is an amazing piece of equipment, batteries charge super fast (I think initial charge from 1 light to all 4 lights took less than 45 minutes). I cut 1/4 acre in less than 30min. and battery was only down to 80%, I noticed if the blades are not engaged batteries don't drain fast, my kids riding this for more than 1 hr for fun without engaging the blades and the battery level was still 90%. I have Greenworks other tools and they are very reliable, I chose lawn tractor over zero turn after seeing review on Youtube from Tracktor Supply Co., they're pretty much build on the same platform but you get more run on tractor compared to zero turn version. I also looked at Ryobi but they don't come with Lithium Ion batteries, so Ryobi is inferior in many ways to this machine, and you'll notice the difference in the second or third year, while this machine will keep running the same for at least next 5-10 years as the day you purchased. I only had it for couple of days but it cut my yard work on my loan by 3/4 of the time. It usually takes me over 1hr on my John Deere D105 to cut front and 1hr back yard. With this mower I did in 15 minutes each side, I can't believe how fast it can go, and speed makes difference, no more clumps of grass shooting from the underneath of the deck. Even my 8 yr old can easily ride this and looking forward to leaving the mowing the lawn to my kids, they fight who will rider first. I do expect to get at least 5 year full power from batteries before they show some wear, from my experience with these batteries don't leave them on the equipment or on the charger if not in use and keep them charged, so you'll get more life out of them. The best part the batteries are easily removable, it looks like the batteries are the only thing you would have to replace and maybe use grease on some parts to keep this running for very long time.MDM David
I've been using Greenworks for years (push mower and weedwhacker) and those batteries still work great, so I decided to go for this ZT and…its amazing. Tractor Supply tossed in a free hedge trimmer and ZT mower cover, if they offer you a freebie I would recommend the blower since you can't wash these mowers. Its rated for one hour and 2 acres of use, but I seem to get about 3 1/2 acres consistently so range depends on the rider and the lay of the land. I love the trunk, I use it far more than I expected, I also use this ZT to tow a small garden trailer sometimes. Its so easy to use my kids even like driving it (or going on rides in the trailer) :-). I live on 11 acres so I've cut everything from my front yard to the back pasture (at night, its so quiet it doesn't bother anyone like a normal gas mower would and the headlights are actually effective!!). With front yard style grass it cuts beautifully, my back pasture is more of a bush hog type situation but it breezes through that easily too with my deck set to 3.5. So yeah, knee height grass and still easily breezes through 2 acres with room to spare on my batteries. Batteries charge quickly too, only 90 minutes from empty to full recharge. Charge and store the batteries inside your house, these are lithium batteries so you don't want to leave them in a garage that isn't temp controlled. The negatives are few-my left arm bar seems slightly higher than my right one, and it can't be corrected. Attempts to call Greenworks customer service failed, nobody ever answered the phone, I stayed on hold until eventually Greenworks disconnected the call. Lastly, the rear wheels are a bit too smooth for my taste. They'll work great on flat land, but they tend to slip and slide on hills especially if there is any dew on the grass. If you have other 60V Greenworks tools then you'll be even happier with this purchase, since the batteries you'll get with this mower will really really increase the operating time of your tools. This is due to the higher AH you get with the mower vs the tools (8AH vs 2AH).gutierrezt6936

This is easily the worst purchase i have ever made. Worse than thay old nokia phone. Yes the nokia phone doesnt cut grass, but it does allow you to make phone callls. This does neither. Unless your mowing your lawn weekly, it does not have the power to cut through the grass. It constantly stops meaning you have clear the grass which does not feed to the back of the catcher. I am forever stopping the lawn mower, pushing the cut grass to the back of the catcher and than proceeding. A number of times i have mowed my lawns twice. The first time on level 5 to make it a little easier when i then try and cut it on a level 4. Please do yourself a favour and not buy this machine.Greg
Should have done it years ago. As an owner of a few LXT tools, it was a no-brainer when I moved to a house with a very small garden. Sell the petrol mower and get a small electric mower. What I didn't expect is to end up with a machine which would outperform my petrol mower but with no hassle of fuel, smell, temperamental starting….. not to mention the reduced noise, no fumes, lighter weight…..the benefits are endless. If I hadn't got the batteries already, I probably wouldn't have bought this machine but as a body only it was a very easy decision.J J.
Quality mower . Well built but still very light and easy to manoeuvre. So much so , now the wife does the mowing. Handles cutting 150m2 plus off lawn on one charge . Doesn’t like really long grass so have to do 2 passes , but this was the case with my old plug in mower . Still really impressed with the capability would totally recommend to anyone thinking off replacing their old plug in .Jon

Very fast, use slow speed until you are experiencedDanny
Decided to switch to an electric battery mower to maintain my 1.5 acre lawn. While I have only had the machine for a week, my initial impressions are: 1) The mower and bagging unit arrived quickly, and was delivered to the front of the garage without incident; oddly, the delivery person did not let us know that the items had been delivered. 2) The components were well-packaged in protective materials, and uncreating and assembly instructions were clear, accurate, and professionally produced. There is a small amount of work to remove the machine from the well-designed protective packaging, and to install items such as control arms, seat, towing flange: these are simple to install with common tools. I note that some have complained that the mower was difficult to drive off of the metal pallet, but I had no problems: remember to raise the mowing deck to the max height, and to use a ramp so that nothing gets hung up. 3) The machine is built more solidly than I had expected. It is well constructed with heavy-gauge materials, and inspires confidence. Initial quality was excellent, and I was unable to find any manufacturing defects. 4) The mower is quiet, and while stable and comfortable, it scoots along and reacts to steering and "throttle" inputs almost too quickly, particularly for those unfamiliar with zero-turn machinery. There is an option to limit the speed of the machine, which is a welcome option. 5) Care should be taken when managing the mower on slopes or drop-offs, near impediments, or in slippery situations. My modus operandi of "hiking out" and rambling precariously along sloped areas with my previous traditional format tractor are NOT appropriate. 6) I tested the mower by mowing about 1/2 of our local 2-acre park, which the city has been ignoring to the point that the heavily overgrown grass was over 30 cm (12 inches) high. The mower was powerful, easy to control, and easily managed this extreme challenge: mission accomplished! 7) My initial attempts to recharge the mower were upsetting: the first use recharge maxed out at 70%, and the second use (after the heavy-mow park challenge ran the batter down to 15%) maxed out at 40%. Once I removed the extension cord (an old, cheap cord that has now been retired) from the circuit and plugged directly into the garage wall socket, the mower properly charged to 100% overnight. I note that this issue is mentioned in the Operating Manual.KeWL
I bought this at the start of the summer of 2020 and it was great! I loved it! By the summer of 2021 the battery had degraded to the point that I could never recommend this product. I honestly don't know how Ryobi can continue to sell it! The batteries DO NOT last. Last year, I could cut my entire property in one charge, and now it takes three charges. Over the winter, I left the mower in a heated garage, plugged in as directed in the manual. Now the mower runs for 40 minutes at best before the blades quit. And often that is when the battery still reads 60% power, so there is really only 40% of the battery that is usable for mowing. I loved this mower when I purchased it: it's quiet, quick, and with no fluids or belts, I suppose it was too good to be true. I own a Tesla, I love the electrified future, and I would love everyone to have an electric mower, but I would feel very guilty if I told you to buy this one if you are hoping for the mower to last more than one season.
