20 Best Electric Toothbrush For Sensitive Teeth And Gums (Jan 2023 Update)

I got this after receiving a recommendation from a relative, and after about 2-3 days of use I am already seeing (and feeling) improvement with my teeth. The electric brushes I had previously were not as powerful or abrasive. This one isn't one of the uber special ones — it has one mode and that's it. That's all I really need! I noticed after the first couple of users that some of the yellowing on my teeth has eased up, but today (after drinking espresso and eating donuts), I noticed my teeth were already brighter/whiter! (Disclaimer: I do use a fluoride-free whitening toothpaste, but it has never been this effective with the electric brush I tried before or manual ones). I would recommend this to anyone who is not looking to spend $80+ dollars and/or doesn't want or need anything super fancy but would still like to see some results or get that "clean" feeling only a decent toothbrush can offer. I don't think this product would be good for children under the age of say 13 or so, especially if their gums are sensitive. The brush is very abrasive, but that's where the "clean" feeling comes from. The only "cons" I've experienced after within 72 hours of purchase is that it takes FOR. EVER. to charge (in the manual it says it can take up to 22 hours, but lasts about 10 days [with x2 a day use]). It's not really a con because the manual says overcharging this unit is impossible so you can just leave it on forever.PAMELA

I don’t like this toothbrush. I tried it for quite a while and it’s just not for me. I’ve used different brands of electric toothbrushes for years, and I just don’t like this one. It kind of feels like I put a little hand mixer in my mouth, just way too aggressive of the vibration. I’m a regular flosser, with good dental visits and this toothbrush made my gums bleed the first few times. Part of the issue is that the rotating head is just too large, but also, the motor is very loud and aggressive. One thing that is superior to my other experiences is that this one pulsates after 2 minutes but doesn’t shut off. Sometimes I like to go a little bit longer if I felt like I missed a spot. However, with this toothbrush, I found myself just hoping it was done. Another positive is that my teeth were very clean when I used it, but I couldn’t help wondering if it was causing too much harm to my gum line. I included a comparison picture so you can see the side of the toothbrush head. I used to use a combination of a manual toothbrush and a battery powered toothbrush for years until I finally decided to take a leap and purchase the Oral-B Pro 1000 rechargeable toothbrush on October 13, 2022. I started using it that night and couldn't believe how clean it got my teeth! I had a spot on my upper right tooth that had some plaque on it that the manual toothbrush just wasn't getting. Within the first use, the plaque was GONE! I will never go back to a manual toothbrush for as long as I live. I have very sensitive teeth, and over the years have tried many different types of toothbrushes, from soft manual types to expensive sonic designs. My frustrations have always involved trying to avoid causing my gums to bleed while still getting my teeth clean and balancing the cost of the device itself and replacement heads so I’m not breaking the bank. I had largely given up and gone back to using a soft manual brush up until now with this Burst Sonic Toothbrush. I was immediately impressed with the design for the cost and was very intrigued all along by the low cost of future replacement heads that I feel are quite reasonable. Upon using the brush for the first few times I can happily say that I have had no problems with gum bleeds and my sensitive teeth have not been aggravated by it so those are big wins for me. I also feel like my teeth have been much cleaner since moving into this brush from my manual one and that is of course the whole idea behind a nice toothbrush. It has 3 modes, normal, sensitive, and massage, that are selected by holding the power button from the off state for a couple seconds to switch. It will remember that mode from then on, so you don’t have to switch every time. I honestly went straight to the sensitive mode knowing that would be best for my situation and I am thrilled with how it has performed for me. As you brush it will indicate 30 second intervals to remind you to switch inside and outside on top and bottom to help ensure you’ve brushed long enough and covered everything, which seems to be standard for a sonic brush in my experience. Charging is done with the included induction dock and usb power supply and has an advertised battery life that should last quite a long time. I used it right out of the box without charging it and it worked great. I like that it is black which will look nice longer than white ones have in the past for me as they typically start to yellow over time. You can register the product on their website which will give you a 1-year warranty, and if you choose to subscribe to 12-week replacement head shipping from Burst they will offer a lifetime warranty on the handle. It’s a nice way to keep on track with replacing heads when you should and earning some peace of mind for the longevity of the device. What can I say, it's an electric toothbrush that does an excellent job, as advertised. The toothbrush head has a charcoal coating that is supposed to help with cleaning the teeth. I don't know the exact science behind it, but after using the Burst electric toothbrush, my mouth/teeth feel very clean. I have another electric toothbrush, but this one has become it's replacement. This toothbrush has three modes, whitening, sensitive, and massage. I prefer the whitening mode. This toothbrush is supposed to last a month on a single overnight charge. So far I've gone a week and still no need to charge. My old electric toothbrush would only last four to five days. When you start this toothbrush it has some sort of timer that repeats itself. So basically it divides your brushing into 4 zones. Once it stops you should have completed brushing your teeth. They recommend replacing the toothbrush head every 12 weeks. I looked into the price of replacement heads that are Burst brand and they are going for about $25 for three. There are cheaper alternatives, but after reading the reviews for those products it doesn't seem like they are the same quality. One other thing to note is that it does not come with a travel case, but you can buy it separately. Likes: 1.) Teeth feel really clean after using it 2.) About one month use on a single charge 3.) This product should come with better instructions in the box rather, than and a one sheet pictorial representation which seems to be a little different to the product. In my case, image 13 on the pictorial seemed to show that there are three LED’s to show differing levels of charge status but on the product itself there is only one LED for this. I had to telephone Philips to find out the meaning of the displays from the single LED and, in so doing, got pointed in the direction of a 64 page user manual on their website which gave the information on how to decipher the various phases of flashing lights. I realise that putting a user manual in the box covering all languages would be a bulky document but there must be a way of producing a manual in the official language of a particular market. Additionally, replacement toothbrush heads for G3 sensitive gums in black HX9054/06 are shown in the Philips online shop as being “no longer available” – see photo. Using the website’s “Find the toothbrush head that is best for you – Go to advisor” function and selecting G3 Premium Gum Care only brings up one option which is in white. I had to telephone Philips to query this and was given a different code HX9054/33 which the online advisor does not show. The website toothbrush head finder needs to be kept up-to-date by (1) not showing products “no longer available” e.g. HX9054/06 but (2) showing those which are e.g. HX9054/33. Furthermore, when trying to find my toothbrush on the Philips online system I type in the code on the bottom of my product which is HX680B but that is not recognised. This is a great item if you want a good quality electric tooth brush. I have the fancy $300, connect to your app one. This is fairly comparable in terms of power. This is great for kids or someone looking for a basic, yet good quality electric tooth brush. I bought this specifically for my boyfriend to convert him over to electric tooth brushes. Certainly can’t be the price. For anyone considering the more portable version of these…there’s a battery one and a similar but rechargeable model…get this one instead. I bought these for my family on my dentist's recommendation. This model is simple and affordable does the job that more expensive Sonicares do. There are many brush heads available which work great so that means you can use different brush head on the same handle which is fantastic. We are using this brush since a year now, what a difference! We would never go back to regular brushes. Takes a few times to get used to the vibrations, you have to be gentle and let the toothbrush do the work. Also has a high end look and feel. The charger is great too and it has 3 year warranty. I used to have a lot of Black Plaque on my teeth, no matter what toothbrush I used to use nothing would take it off. My teeth were also yellowish in colour. I was very embarrassed to smile, I was not confident in my smile at all. I was also so embarrassed going to the dentist. My dentist tried to remove it but was unsuccessful. I was told by the dentist that my black plaque on my top back tooth would never be removed no matter how much I brush my teeth. So I gave up looking for the best toothbrush to remove my plaque. But one day I heard about the oral B pro 3 electric toothbrush and decided to buy it and give it a chance. After using it for a few days I was mind blown when I saw the result of my teeth. The toothbrush's main selling point is the pressure monitor. A major flaw with this is that the sensor is not sensitive at all. The red light is only activated if one was to push down the toothbrush with full force, something which nobody would ever do when brushing their teeth. In addition, even with a sensitive brush attached, the brush exerts significant force onto the teeth and gums. It is a paradox that this brush aims to improve gum and teeth health, all while doing the opposite. Either buy the cheapest oral b electric toothbrush or a manual toothbrush, do not spend your money on this.John

I mean as far as toothbrushes go, it's pretty good, but with that said it could be better. In terms of functionality, the toothbrush does a good job of cleaning your teeth – much better than any manual toothbrush would. So I wouldn't hesitate recommending this toothbrush to anyone – I used to have an Oral-B 2000 from 5 years ago, and I can tell this one is even better than that already was. Battery is good as well, takes about 2 weeks to drain as compared to my 2000 which was 10 days when it was brand new (started lasting 1-2 days after 5 years which is why I replaced it). One gripe with the battery though, is that it will suddenly drop in power when it's low on power, then you have to finish brushing your teeth with half power to then put it on charge. It's as if the battery alert should come on 1 brush beforehand so you don't experience this. Lastly, the case this toothbrush comes with leaves a bit to be desired… I know, it's just a case and why should I care… well if it's included with the product, then it means I've paid for it, and if I've paid for it then I should get something worthwhile. Firstly, the case clips things in too tightly, to the point that it's difficult to pull out the brush head, making it impractical to use. Additionally, no space in there for even a small tube of toothpaste – so in terms of a "travel case" it's not ideal for travelling. Lastly, the case should have a USB input on it so that I can plug in the case to charge the toothbrush. Why should I have to leave my toothbrush sitting on a stand when it's got it's own little mount inside the case? (literally the toothbrush mounts into the case as if it was charging, only it doesn't). This would make the case far more practical, and would mean things look a lot neater in the bathroom when charging the device.David

The toothbrush exceeded all expectations after the first use. Feels like a professional cleaning. My teeth are clean, smooth, and shiny. The whitening effect became noticeable on the third day of use. I am sure that my visits to the dentist will become less frequent. Value for money is all about this product. This toothbrush does clean well. It has a few other modes which I believe they suggest getting different brush heads for. I've only used the standard clean mode. I feel like the brush is too powerful. The instructions state you should be able to change the vibration when using it by pressing the mode button but….when I do that it doesn't seem to change at all. Occasionally the brush has slipped from my hand while brushing and the neck of the brush rattling against my teeth is not pleasurable at all. You really need to stay focused while using this brush to avoid the shaft of the brush hitting your teeth while brushing.Kam71

My teeth were hurting so bad a couple of months ago that I thought that I had a mouth full of cavities. I made a dentist appointment and it turned out that I didn’t have any cavities. The dentist said that I was brushing my teeth so hard that my gums were receding! They suggested that I switch to an electric toothbrush. I paired that with sensitive toothpaste and I’m no longer in pain. I chose the 5100 model because it had 3 modes: clean, white and gum care. Clean mode is the standard 2 min, White mode says it is for removing surface stains and is a little longer at 2 1/2 min, and the Gum Care mode that I’ve been using is 3 minutes, it’s the standard 2 minutes but then an extra minute at a lower power to gently massage gums. My teeth and gums feel great since I started using this Sonicare 5100.christina.c

I have already reviewed the white version, so this is the same product and just a different colour. Again, I cannot fault this product at all. The price may be too steep for some but I really think it is worth the premium price. Almost as good as a hygienist appointment! To add to the other review, it has a great interactive display which you can use to change the setting e.g from teeth to tongue brushing. I definitely recommend loading the app to track your brushing – this was especially helpful to my daughter who neglects certain areas of her mouth. It encourages her to ensure that she applies the correct pressure and gives the same brushing attention to every tooth. So instead of the usual 10 second brush, she now brushes for the full two minutes. It is not whisper quiet but it not a deafening noise either. I couldn’t justify the price difference to buy the IO8, which appears to have more features, but the reviews for this IO6 were good so opted for what is still expensive for a toothbrush even at sale price of £110. I was expecting something better then my existing 5 year old 5000 series, but I wasn’t expecting this huge difference. Quieter than the old style, it vibrates away rather than rumbling. Following the 2 minute guide on the app, my teeth genuinely feel clean, proper clean all over! Note: Black and Grey have whitening function. On pink this is replaced with a second Ultra sensitive function. Must add, Staff at Fareham branch were really helpful. I opted to buy in branch after checking stock on line. If you are not fussed with fast charge, I believe this is as good as IO7/8. A 2 minute brush uses around 8-10% battery so should last 4-5 days per charge. Love it! I was a very happy Oral B user for many years. I had switched to Sonicare because I liked the way it vibrated, but never liked the brush shape. This Oral B iO is the best of both – the round brush that I'd always preferred, plus the updated vibration…er…style? The relatively small charger will be great for travelling. My teeth feel really clean, the purple is really pretty, and the timer makes cute little faces. It's just a wee bit expensive and I wish it'd been on sale, but I love the thing so oh well. It offers 4 modes: Clean, Soft, Whiten, and Massage. Clean is the standard mode for superior teeth cleaning. Soft is the mode that softly cleans sensitive mouths. Starting with soft mode is a good idea until you get accustomed to the strong vibrations. Whiten is the mode for cleaning, polishing and whitening your teeth. Folks, before we get into the review, please note that this review is for the AquaSonic VIBE series Ultra Whitening Electric Toothbrush, which costs 1/3 the price of more popular brands (with similar features and accessories). So, we need to keep everything in perspective. Having said that… There are now a lot of sonic toothbrushes on the market. I was never willing to spend the uber bucks that other manufacturers charged without knowing what I was in for. Not long ago I made the switch from a traditional brush to a spin brush. It made a huge difference in the brush experience. So, when I had a chance to try a sonic brush, I was really excited to do it. As with most things, there are pros and cons to the AquaSonic experience. Here’s what I found, to-date. Pros: In the box you get a case, which contains the toothbrush and two brush heads, a charging stand (proprietary but nice, as it uses an actual UL listed cord… vs. a USB-powered -micro or -C cable), two bags, each containing six replacement brush heads (eight heads in all), and instructions. Setup is simple. Plug in the charging base, pop a brush head on the toothbrush body (very easy to do), place the brush body on the charger, and wait for the LED indicator to turn from red to off. While, per the instructions, the first charge was supposed to take a full 24 hours, it only took 3 to turn from red to off. Still, I left the brush body on the charger the full 24 hrs. The brush body has an on/off switch and a mode switch. The brush provides four modes — clean, soft, and whiten (for your teeth)… and massage for your gums. Bright white LEDs indicate which brush mode you’re in. Touch the mode button one time to switch modes — very simple. Now, the brushing experience. I left the brush on the default mode (clean). At first, I was not figuratively but quite literally surprised. I didn’t know what to expect. The vibrating/tickling experience shocked me. At first I didn’t like it and was ready to pitch the brush. But, I persevered… and, the results were well worth it. Once you get past the initial sensation (who knows you might like it), brushing becomes intuitive. I brush for two minutes, minimum with my spin brush. I sing a song in my head that I know is at least two minutes. The AquaSonic VIBE has a built in timer, which is awesome. Instructions tell you to break your brush experience into quadrants in your mouth. Go over the same quadrant until the brush pauses (ever 30 seconds) and move to the next quadrant. Despite a much, much smaller and softer brush head than I’m used to using, this thing left my teeth cleaner than any brush I ever used. I was shocked at the difference. And, after using the brush, I understood why the brush heads are so soft and small. This thing is a workhorse. Softer bristles are more forgiving but just as efficient. And, a smaller brush head allows easier maneuverability and helps ensure that the plastic brush head body has less of a chance of vibrating against your teeth. When I was done brushing, I couldn’t believe the difference between the AquaSonic and my spinbrush. However, it’s not all sunshine and roses. Cons: While a nice add, the travel case doesn’t allow you to store the charging base. So, you end up with a nice case for your brush and brush heads… but, if traveling for extended periods you also have to remember to bring the charging stand. While it would’ve made the case bulkier, I would’ve preferred an all-in-one approach. Minus one star. The base’s small footprint (a pro in my book, but not in my wife’s when she’s doing her hair, etc.) has tendencies to fall over. Instructions say to leave the brush on the charger. Personally, I’m not a big fan of that either way. I don’t like to have devices charging simply for the sake of charging. So, it worked out that my wife also did not like the charging base on the bathroom countertop. She kept knocking it over. So, after fully charging the brush body, the base went into a cabinet… only to be pulled out when needed. While a con for me as it’s an inconvenience to put away the base, similar brushes have a similar base design. Also, I like the small footprint. It’s simply my wife that didn’t… so, it’s a wash. General Considerations: I’ve only used the Vibe for two days so far… so, I can’t speak to how long it holds a charge or how long brush heads last. According to the manufacturer, AquaSonic can last 4 full weeks (2 min/2x a day) on a full charge; and, each brush head lasts 4 months. Of course, this would all depend on your usage. Per the included instructions, the battery pack can be easily removed for recycling when the time comes. Also, per the manufacturer, 8 brush heads will (i.e., read ‘should’) last for over 2.5 years (again, based on your particular usage). Regarding brush head replacements, other reviewers are saying you can use similar brush heads available for (wink, wink) another major manufacturer. Recommended Purchase?: Absolutely. I recently received this Aqua Sonic Ultra Sonic Whitening Toothbrush. I have owned electric toothbrushes in the past but none that have ever worked this well. To be honest, I did not notice an immediate change in the appearance of my teeth but over a 10 day period of using it twice a day I noticed cleaner looking teeth, everything from a sheen to cleaning out crevices there was a noticeable difference. The brush itself has four functions: (1) Clean, (2) Soft, (3) Whiten, and (4) Massage which have a corresponding light next to each function which makes it so easy to identify which mode you are in. There is a large on and off button too. The brush has a pretty pearl like mauve or rust colored finish and is easy to handle in those hard to reach spaces. Each function is quiet which I noticed right away. The toothbrush has a 40,000 VPM ultrasonic handle and comes with eight brush heads, a wireless charging base, and one very nice travel case. This toothbrush even has a vibration timer on it that tells you when it’s time to brush a new area. The modes of operation on the handle include clean for standard brushing, soft for softer cleaning, whiten to help remove surface stains and to polish your teeth, and a massage feature to help improve gum health. I was able to purchase this on sale, and I was still skeptical of spending this much money on an electric toothbrush. I had a basic Sonicare years back and didn't think that much of it – it was just "ok". I tended to go back to a manual toothbrush more often and just used the electric occasionally. I think it was because the brush head felt too small and the handle was bulkier. The 9900 Prestige feels more like a normal size and the handle itself is smaller and lighter. I also thought it was kind of hokie with the "smart" features, like "who REALLY needs that?" However it's a game changer and it is absolutely amazing. I've only been using it three days now, but I LOVE the smart features. I didn't realize I had areas that needed more attention – I always felt like I was hitting everything I needed to. It seems silly but now I look forward to brushing my teeth and getting that "fresh from the dentist" feeling every time and know what areas I need to pay more attention to. Honestly, it's a beautiful toothbrush (I got it in rose gold) so it's pretty on my countertop. I also love that it's thoughtfully designed. The charging base has a frosted plastic cover so it doesn't get wet but doesn't ruin the appeal. The toothbrush is lightweight, and the bottom flashes between two different colors depending on if you are moving around too much or pressing too hard. I also love the buzz to let you know to move on from a section. I also know I'm getting a great clean when I'm using this toothbrush! I love the three strength settings too. I'm still on level 1, which is plenty for me, but I like that it can be controlled as I know other electric toothbrushes don't always allow for that. Even on level 1, sometimes I'll splash a bit and foam quite a bit, but it just took a bit of getting used to. I'm happy to adjust knowing I'm getting cleaner teeth in return! I did start with the app, which was cool to see where I might have missed a spot in my teeth, but I've since stopped using it as the toothbrush itself has plenty of features to help guide me in my toothbrushing. The Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige has impressive cleaning performance paired with a real time feedback app to improve dental health far beyond what can be achieved with a manual brush. In the box is the toothbrush, head, charging stand, USB charging cable, power adaptor, and charging travel case. While not required for operation, in order to fully leverage the benefits of this toothbrush you will need to download the app. I had no issues downloading and running on my Android phone. While you can brush without the app open, if you want real time feedback and history tracking you will need to open it when you brush. To pair to the app you need to put the brush on the base, open the app, and then turn on the toothbrush, at which point the app will begin tracking the two minute program and your brushing habits. Within the app you can select multiple brushing options: three different intensity settings, and five different cleaning modes that range between 2:00 minutes to 3:20 minutes based on if your goal is sensitive, deep cleaning, gum health, whiten, or clean (default setting). The SenseIq technology takes a bit of getting used to between the brush movement and the app response, but easy to navigate once you get used to the slight lag between where you are brushing and what the app shows. The app breaks the mouth into 6 sections and then each section gets a 20 second interval. Based on the toothbrush movement the app can identify which section of your mouth you have covered and then provides feedback if you brush too hard, move too fast, and adapts the intensity of the vibration based on the pressure you apply. The app will also let you know if you have missed an area and you can go back to that area to turn the section 'green', see photo for example of this feedback. My dentist recommended this product, said she uses one herself. I don't know if I could ever go back to needing 2 separate devices to clean my teeth. And, having the flosser work through the brush makes it much easier to to control where the stream is going. I didn't like the reviews saying it doesn't have as much power as the rechargeable one, but I got it anyway. I disagree, great quality Duracell Rechargeable Batteries I use in everything offers just about the same effect of the rechargeable version, the general version, I know there are extremely expensive rechargeable Oral-B brushes out there. I could have used a more expensive version, I guess, but this works just fine as it is. My other brand moves in the wrong direction, causing the back of the brush to clatter hard against my teeth, here is the non-moving regular Oral-B style, identical to the rechargeable version. These tooth brushes are well built. The heads are removable and made in a standard size which makes it easy to find a replacement for them. The batteries are also removable, standard size, and easily replaced with rechargeable batteries. The only thing that could necessitate you buying another tooth brush after this one is if you lost it, or if the motor wore out. I bought this about 2 months ago and was excited to have the capability of detecting when I push too hard on the toothbrush. I found out that I am not a major offender and it happens less than 2% of the time. Pros: The unit indicates when I push to hard with I am brushing. Cons: the brush body gets very slippery when the saliva migrates down the brush to the body of the brush. Sometime I can barely hold onto the brush. The brush heads are only effective for about a month for me. After 3 weeks I begin to notice that my teeth don't feel as clean as the day goes on. After 4 to 5 weeks, I can notice the difference right after brushing. I change the brush head and everything returns to Clean and Fresh. I bought a two pack of the brushes, so I could leave one of the brushes in my travel kit. The toothbrush in my kit lost the full charge in less than 6 weeks and I was very surprised when I tried to turn on the brush while visiting my sons house. When I brush without using the App, the saliva and toothpaste mixture keeps onto the brush while I brush. It gets to the point where I obscures the display that tells me when I have completed the 2 minutes. It would be nice if the brush generated a different tone, or pause when I hit the 2 minute threshold. The app is a good idea, but I have to stand straight up while brushing in order for the sensors to detect the area that I am brushing. I am over the moon when it comes to the Oral B io series 7G electric toothbrush. For years I have used a basic toothbrush and after using the Oral B 7G my mind is blown. I intended to buy the top of the line – thinking it would have different brushing power. While it has more modes and a color OLED display, io7, 8 and 9 are essentially the same – and the io7 is a bargain at 200 bucks given its power, I am a diehard Sonicare user and obsessed with devices to help keep my teeth and gums in good shape. The latest Sonicare set me back 300 bucks and it’s super, yet the Oral B just feels like a more sophisticated, modernized and effective device. I like the feedback of the LED light, the haptic nudge to guide you and the round brush. Agree with most folks that a cap for the brush would be welcome and the magnetic base works, yet wish it felt stickier. The device is easily knocked off. This toothbrush is surprisingly lightweight, comfortable to hold and I am in love with the lavender color. It's also so easy to assemble, charge and operate. I like thr choice of different speeds, especially the deep clean setting. I did find the brush head to be a little on the small side and thought the brush seems a bit loud while in use. I was also surprised to find that this brush had no moving or spinning parts, it only vibrates. It does have a corresponding app which I found really interesting. It's easy to install and I had no problems connecting the brush to the app via my phone. The toothbrush is a lavender purple color and comes in bright coral packaging. The toothbrush uses sonic vibrations to clean my teeth. It is a connected brush and the app is easy to download and install. Using the app helps you to target areas that need extra cleaning. Just received this toothbrush a few days ago. It has some very nice features but a couple that I personally don't like so much. The good: I think it's a good value for the price compared to other brands. It seems to vibrate very quickly and efficiently without too much shaking. As far as I can tell, it seems to do a good job of cleaning the teeth and getting into tight areas. I like having the four different levels of vibrating. I also like that it doesn't have a small round brush like most other electric toothbrushes have. This brush is not giant, but it's bigger than the little round ones – I think the small round brushes take longer to clean your teeth with because you can only brush one tooth at a time. It's great that this toothbrush has a rechargable plug-in handle. I was concerned that it would flop over in the charging cup like the picture shows, but it seems to be able to stand up straight if you don't bump it. I don't think that I would want to use the cup to drink from after storing the toothbrush handle in it, but that's just my personal feeling. If you care about the looks of your toothbrush, this one is very elegant looking. I mostly bought this model because it comes with so many replacement brushes, as well as a brush cover for each brush. It also has a travel case. A few small things that I don't care for: First, I don't need anything to signal me when I have brushed long enough – I brush until I have covered all of the tooth surfaces sufficiently. This brush automatically pauses every 30 seconds to signal you to move to a different part of your mouth – it's not a long pause, but to me it's an uneccessary delay. Then after 2 minutes, the automatically brush shuts off completely. Since I always brush longer than that, I have to press the button to restart the toothbrush. Again, a minor annoyance. Would be nice to have the option to disable those timers, but not a deal-breaker for the toothbrush. Another little annoyance is that the instructions say that you should pull off the toothbrush head after each use to rinse and then dry the handle and the brush separately. It's easy to pull of the brush head from the handle, and I appreciate being able to clean under the brush, but it would be easier if you could just rinse and dry the whole thing without taking the head off. As long as this toothbrush has good durability which I will find out as time goes on, I think that it's overall a winner so far.Linda

I live this tooth brush. The overall feel of the handle is great. It’s lightweight, slim and has a soft material feel; not like your usual plastic. It comes with a case that holds all the extra heads and a plastic cover piece to place over the head you are currently using; very pleasing. The glass cup that is used to not only charge the brush wirelessly but also can be used to rinse; is very thick and made of great quality. It’s got a little weight to it which I like. I find it fascinating that you can put the brush right into the cup and it charges wirelessly. There are 2 settings to use when brushing your teeth, soft and medium and I love that I have that option to switch between the two without having to change the brush. I did A LOT of research before buying a new toothbrush. And I love this toothbrush. I can't express how crazy i am about my teeth. 3 mouth washes, 2 tooth pastes and 2 toothbrushes, kind of crazy, okay? The good news? This has cut down my ritual to 1 toothbrush! It's a little aggressive at the beginning, i would suggest taking it easy on the pressure to get your gums used to it, but it's fantastic! I use the clean mode and whitening mode the most. Overall the Hum smart rythm battery powered toothbrush by Colgate is a really great product. From the brushing teeth to the smart app, the hum provides a unique approach to a daily routine. It is fun to look forward to the progress being made with the smart feature and to see what rewards you may potentially earn just for brushing your teeth. As nice at it is for camping and having extra batteries readily available, the same is not for hôtels and traveling, As well as at home. I felt that for these situations a battery is unnecessary and wasteful. With that being said, i would like to have the option of recharging the product and having a battery back it up, only if the charge runs out. This way you can use it manually, recharge it, or use a battery. Otherwise the smart hum is a fun powerful, entertaining device. This is a great vibrating toothbrush that took some getting used to. Coming from an electric recharging toothbrush that does not pulse only, I had to get used to a minor change in brushing techniques. My mouth feels clean, but a different kind of clean, almost as if a steam clean versus vacuum with rolling brushes clean. The vibrating settings allow user to choose the intensity which is great. The accompanying app ensures you have full coverage or if you need to make adjustments and tweak your original routine or technique. My lips, tongue, teeth, mouth and gums received a great massaged feeling afterwards. The first time I used it my gums did bleed slightly in a couple areas, which was incredibly abnormal for me, but very minor, and did not happen again after continued usage. The brush head is soft and smaller and would work great for even those with sensitive teeth or problem areas as you're not really being abrasive to your teeth, unless your preferred paste is more abrasive.Brian5

My biggest disappointment in this toothbrush has been with connection issues. In 48 days of bushing, 7 of my sessions have not been recorded. The first was because our wifi wasn't connected to the internet when I syned. This didn't recorded one guided brushing and two offline. The second time I dropped my toothbrush in the sink, and I guess it disconnected from the app till I tried to sync it a day or so later. At least 3 sessions were lost then, maybe more. The last time was tonight, and I have no idea why it didn't sync this time. I have tried turning the brush off and back on and restarting the app. Each time a notification to "collect smiles" popped up with the recorded time which I clicked, but no points were added and the brushings were not recorded. Not sure if I'm the only one with this problem because there is nothing about it in the help center. But it's really frustrating especially when I'm trying to track brushing and get more consistent. I'm someone who benitifs from visual feedback to meet goals. On the brush itself: I have been wanting an electric toothbrush for quite some time. I don't have anything to compare Hum to, but I think it works pretty well. The app has some neat fetures that tell you that days you brush best on, track brushing (and flossing and mouthwash) gives you points towards refills, and more. I had the Flexcare+ Pro, and it's the only Sonicare toothbrush I've ever owned that's conked out on me! I've been an avid fan for almost 20 years, this is only my 4th brush. I love all the features, I use Gum Care twice daily. I use refresh when I want to refresh during the day, I've used massage or sensitive when my gums are a little tender after a good thorough cleaning by the hygienist, clean if I'm in a hurry, and don't want to take the additional minute. I love that the charging stand has some substance to it, instead of the small travel chargers that are now standard in most of the Sonicare brush boxes. I don't miss that it doesn't have the sanitizer of the pro model, the only thing I never used. I really feel this is a superior model than all the rest. FWIW, I tried the Sonicare with the Deep Clean. It simply brushs for 3 minutes, using the quadpacer technology. The Gum Care is 2 minutes using the quadpacer technology, then an additional minute, broken into 4, 15 second intervals, that you can use wherever you feel it necessary. I concentrate each 15 second on the extreme back and front of each quad…top left and right, lower left and right. My hygienist gave me an A+ last time! I definitely recommend this model from Sonicare!Luvely

DON'T BUY IT! I have gone through two of these brushes in two years because they are defective. They will just gradually start malfunctioning (e.g., turning on at random times, not coming on reliably when pressing power button) until they eventually never come on again. THIS HAPPENED TO BOTH BRUSHES AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR OF USE. They replaced the first one but not the second (even though I only had it for about a year). I was surprised to see so many people had the same problem I did because the Philips customer support told me this never happens with this toothbrush! Definitely not worth it for this price. Considering this is one of the more expensive options, Im not happy with this brush. My wife and kids all have cheaper models and have experienced 0 issues. I purchased the more expensive unit and it stopped working twice. They replaced it once (Free) because it was under warranty but the replacement unit fail within a year. Thus, Ive had 2 units stop working in little more than 2 years. My recommendation would be to choose a cheaper one… the bells and whistles aren't worth it, make it more complicated to use and may be part of why it stop working. This Phillips Sonicare Diamond Clean toothbrush has been an absolute game changer in my daily routine. It’s beautiful, sleek, futuristic design and gorgeously subtle pink colour means that it sits beautifully on my bathroom shelf. I didn’t ever think I would be as proud as I am now to display a toothbrush! The product itself is also amazing and I cant rate it highly enough. It comes with 4 different cleaning modes; Clean, White+, Gum Health and deep clean. My personal favourite of these settings was the White+ mode as I have been wanting to achieve a brighter, whiter smile. As an avid coffee drinker, I wasn’t sure if this toothbrush would be able to help me with the staining on my teeth, but after only a few weeks I am absolutely amazed with this toothbrush and its abilities. My teeth are already at least a shade whiter and the stains are much, much lighter. My mouth also feels incredibly clean and my breath feels so much fresher for longer. I can only compare the clean feeling this product gives your mouth to that feeling you have after visiting the dental hygienist for a cleaning. I definitely now understand why the toothbrush was called Diamond Clean as my teeth are polished to perfection and shine like diamonds after using. This toothbrush also comes with an app, which I initially thought would be more of a gimmick than for actual use, but I have been absolutely fascinated by the stats it brings up after each brush… Including the message to advise I was brushing my teeth too hard. This app really helped me break the pattern of applying too much pressure when brushing my teeth and I always keep an eye now to ensure I am not being too rough with my new pearly whites. The app automatically pairs with the toothbrush once connected, so you don’t even have to open the app to track your brushing. The brush itself charges quickly and holds the charge well. I feel confident that my teeth are getting a good cleaning with this brush, so I will focus on the bluetooth app, which could be better. First, for the deep cleaning setting, the app has you brush in 6 discrete areas, front and back. It can show you whether you are brushing in the designated area, but it doesn't always pick up the brushing, and it doesn't pick it up if you are outside the area. It would be nice if you could change the amount of time for each designated area, especially since you can mark areas that need more attention (but the app only marks the area graphically and doesn't add time). The app is designed to make the user want the teeth to turn all white, but even when you spend the allotted time in an area, the shading might be white on one side and light gray on the other, leaving a less than optimal user experience. Furthermore, if you miss an area, either by not spending enough time or the app not reading, the app highlights the area in yellow and you are given 20 seconds per area to turn it white. If you continue brushing the app doesn't register the additional time beyond the overtime it has allowed. Another annoying factor is if I brush in the morning and then after midnight, it acts like I only brushed once during the day and gives me annoying helpful reminders to brush twice a day.Giant1

My first electric toothbrush was the first version of Sonicare. I switched to Oral B after a few years. When I switched back to Sonicare I got the first version of DiamondClean. I was astounded. It felt like I went to the dentist and received a professional cleaning from a hygienist! 6 years later that DiamondClean died. I knew I was gonna get another. Upon searching one out, I was surprised to discover that there were two versions that were even more advanced. I really wanted the Prestige just because I often try to get the best available, but the price was a little beyond my justified budget. And after reviewing these extensively, I determined that I was proficient enough to accomplish everything I need for an excellent teeth brushing experience with the DiamondClean 9300. Almost half the price of the prestige. I will say that if I was single and didn’t have kids and wife to provide for I probably would’ve gotten the Prestige. I just love the look of the case and some of the other technology benefits seemed great. So I got me and my wife the 9300, and connected them with the app, and I have been greatly enjoying the experience of having the app guide the areas to brush to make sure I cover each area sufficiently and for the optimal amount of time. This has helped me to be more patient with and to actually enjoy the process. I’m excited to keep my numbers up. Whereas I used to only brush for one minute, now I do a full two minutes. I also floss every night and wear my retainers every night again. Feels great to have great oral hygiene. Thanks Philips for an excellent product! It has improved greatly from the previous iteration. I Love that this comes in pink. Sonicare doesn’t have the most colorful or fun options when it comes to their line of electric toothbrushes. So when I saw this one in pink I was so excited. I also love the pressure sensor since I’ve always pushed too hard so now I have receding gums on over half of my teeth. So this had been a helpful tool. Also, the battery lasts a REALLY long time. With my previous electric toothbrush (it wasn’t a Philips Sonicare one), it had to sit on the charger at all times because otherwise the battery would die. I didn’t have room for a charger to sit on my bathroom countertop since the space is already limited so I thought this toothbrush would be better since the charger is so small. It was a nice surprise when I realized that I don’t even need the charger out on the counter 24/7 because it stays charged for a few weeks at a time! I also love the sensor that tells you when it’s time to change out you’re toothbrush head. Overall this is a really nice toothbrush and it has a lot of features that are really nice to have. The pink color is almost a pastel color which I also love! I hope Sonicare keeps coming out with new designs and colors, etc. The only reason why I decided to purchase a Philips Sonicare toothbrush is because my dentist kept telling me at EVERY single visit that I needed to get a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. I’d never had one before and I really liked the electric toothbrush I was using at the time. My dentist would always tell me how much better it is compared to every other brand out there, etc. I thought that if the toothbrush had the word Sonicare or Sonic that it was the same as the Philips Sonicare but he informed me that they are not the same and to make sure it’s a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. I kept putting it off until the day he told me that he can tell the second he looks in someone’s mouth is they are using a Philips Sonicare toothbrush or another brand. I have a really awesome dentist and he’s always in top of the latest literature and guidelines, etc. He does both cosmetic dentistry and regular dentistry too. He owns his own practice (two of them actually) and he doesn’t hire other dentists, it’s just him. He cares and has always been upfront and honest with me from day 1. He doesn’t try to upsell you or tell you something’s wrong when it’s not. He’s talked me out of doing Zoom whitening in his office many times because he doesn’t think my teeth look as bad as I do. So I 100% trust him. He’d been telling me to get a Philips Sonicare toothbrush for so long, so I finally decided to make the switch (primarily because of what he’d told me that day – that he could tell which patients of his brush with a Philips Sonicare and which do not). I’m so glad I made the switch. I’ll never go back to any other brand. This toothbrush definitely brushes a lot better – you can feel the difference when you turn on a Philips Sonicare toothbrush and compare how it feels (dry and using your hands) to another brand – you can feel a major difference just from touching them with your finger. I wish I would’ve switched sooner. If you’re reading this, trust me on this one, you’ll regret not buying it sooner so get one as soon as you can. Your teeth and mouth will be grateful! The only thing that I can think of when it comes to negatives/room for improvement (besides the lack of color options) would be also the lack of different styles. They all have the same shape and general look to them. It would be nice if they had for ex: a really slim one (that’s what I liked about my last toothbrush) or a small one (not a travel one which they already have) but just one that’s a lot smaller but still has the same functions as the big ones – I’d totally buy a new one if they came in a smaller version (as long as they had it in pink or violet, etc.). They should do a collaboration with Hello Kitty! If they ever do, I hope they not only do the usual red Hello Kitty look but and a pink Hello Kitty too. And lastly, these are noisy – mine is anyways. So I wish they were a lot quieter. This product should come with better instructions in the box rather, than and a one sheet pictorial representation which seems to be a little different to the product. In my case, image 13 on the pictorial seemed to show that there are three LED’s to show differing levels of charge status but on the product itself there is only one LED for this. I had to telephone Philips to find out the meaning of the displays from the single LED and, in so doing, got pointed in the direction of a 64 page user manual on their website which gave the information on how to decipher the various phases of flashing lights. I realise that putting a user manual in the box covering all languages would be a bulky document but there must be a way of producing a manual in the official language of a particular market. Additionally, replacement toothbrush heads for G3 sensitive gums in black HX9054/06 are shown in the Philips online shop as being “no longer available” – see photo. Using the website’s “Find the toothbrush head that is best for you – Go to advisor” function and selecting G3 Premium Gum Care only brings up one option which is in white. I had to telephone Philips to query this and was given a different code HX9054/33 which the online advisor does not show. The website toothbrush head finder needs to be kept up-to-date by (1) not showing products “no longer available” e.g. HX9054/06 but (2) showing those which are e.g. HX9054/33. Furthermore, when trying to find my toothbrush on the Philips online system I type in the code on the bottom of my product which is HX680B but that is not recognised. I've used Sonicare for around 20 years and over the last few years had bought the cheaper Sonicare around £100, but that one has failed twice in the last 12months (terrible battery life and motor went funny when brushing). So I decided to go for a slightly more expensive one and it was worth every penny. The handle is much sturdier and feels nicer to hold, the motor seems stronger and smoother and the battery life is much better. Having the clean/gum/white option is great too. I was also advised by my dentist to remove the head after every brushing and not leave it on the handle. I never charge with the head on either. A great toothbrush, really pleased.becs

I had originally ordered the new version – it deserves one star. The battery was horrible, it would die after one use. I was charging it everyday until the battery indicator stopped blinking but, it would still die after one use. Plus it was hard to hold, it was too slick with no grips. Decided to get an exchange thinking it's probably just defective and I wanted an electronic toothbrush. My replacement however was the older version – definitely 5 stars! I had had this version in the past so I decided to keep it instead of complaining. It is much more comfortable, with grips! The battery so far has lasted 7 uses and it still feels like it was newly charged. I wish Colgate would have just kept this version instead of filling landfills with "improved" items!Kelly

I was very excited to use this toothbrush after using Sonicare. Oral-B is a name that I find synonymous with dentistry and the idea of a spinning head should clean my teeth pretty well. The issue lies in the design of the brush head. While Oral-B claims this is for airflow and drying, it is very annoying and near impossible to keep a clean handle and charger. Water and toothpaste collect in this small hole, despite wiping the toothbrush and trying to dry it after, the watery toothpaste mixture runs down the handle later and collects on the charger. After a while, even after cleaning and drying, the brush just feels dirty and not something I want to continue to use. Going back to Sonicare where the design is more compact and easier to keep clean…. there is no hole in the brush head.Josh

I’ve been using this toothbrush for a year now and I still love it. It gives a very smooth brushing at the perfect speed and I can just pop it back in the charger when I’m done. The only thing I actively dislike about it is how it drips water down the shaft and after a couple weeks of rinse water collecting and drying in the charging well it turns into a gross crust you have to clean, though I appreciate that it falls INTO the charging well and not onto my sink. Also seems like the safety stop to keep you from brushing too hard doesn’t have a ton of consistency on what it deems to be the threshold for ‘too hard’. Overall I recommend this toothbrush but think engineering for these brushes as a whole need some tweaks.Toothbrusher
