So far the best Purple Shampoo I've found. I have not used it long but My hair shines and actually feels thicker and softer. It hasn't really taken out all my brassiness yet but maybe after a few more uses it will. I am transitioning from medium brown colored treated hair to my natural white/grey hair that I'm letting grow out. I've been bleaching my hairs for years and have tried countless brands of purple shampoo. I've been told by my hairdresser that sulfates strip toner and to avoid shampoos with that ingredient. I noticed this shampoo had sulfates but I went ahead and tried it anyway because of all the good reviews. I've used it 3 times since my last bleach and tone, and my hair is A LOT more yellow than my appointment. I noticed after the first wash that my hair looked a little worse but I decided to try to keep using it and my toner literally vanished before my eyes. I definitely recommend a shampoo without sulfates (Joico is one example). This shampoo also dries out your hair causing it to build up grease not even 24 hours after showering. Cannot understand these great reviews! This Blue Malva shampoo and conditioner is simply awful. By far the worst I’ve used. The price point is ridiculous for the lack of result. Not only does it do NOTHING for my highlighted natural blonde hair, it actually actively makes the colour worse! After first use my highlights were dull and hair was really dry. Even when I piled the conditioner on I couldn’t get my brush though it. I should clarify that my hair has always been manageable and neither dry nor greasy, just luckily have shiny and soft hair so I was really shocked that a product had actually given me problems! I tried to keep using it because you can (ridiculously enough) only buy the huge bottles (what a scam), but I had to give it away to a friend because it was making my hair so lustreless. I have very sensitive skin and after not wanting to pay $50 plus for a giant jug of color depositing shampoo, I looked everywhere where for something similar. In the end, I decided not having my hair fall out using something harsher was not ideal and I bought this. My hair changed drastically in a week. It's healthier than it's ever been. This product absolutely works. In fact, if you use it daily it will make your hair too dark. Use it daily, then back off to twice a week. Some have complained that it stains your nails. You're absolutely right it does! If hair color is to work, it must dye keratin, which makes up your hair and nails. Throw a rubber glove into the shower and keep it there to use with this stuff. For best results, rub it into dry hair and leave it while you do everything else in the shower. Also, this leaves the aroma of hair dye in your hair, because….. it is hair dye. I suggest hitting your hair with conditioner afterward, or better yet, follow use with a color shampoo that has a pleasant aroma such as Gem Lites brown pearl. (Hair dye like the ControlGX comes out of the bottle white and colors the core of the hair shaft, colored shampoos that come out of the bottle black like Gem Lites color the outside of the hair shaft.) Someone posted to leave the shampoo in for thirty minutes to get good results. Don’t! It is a hair dye with chemicals. You risk damaging your hair and/or irritating your scalp. It is designed to work gradually. If you leave it in too long, you WILL damage your hair. The product is meant to be used as directed and is very effective. I keep my goatee a little long, about an inch on the chin. It was grey/white, with a little black mixed in. I had tried coloring it once in the past and freaked out at the results and shaved it off. So although I was skeptical, I was willing to try a gradual reduction product. It took a couple of washes before I started noticing any change, and yes, the white hair did take on a purplish hue. But I decided to see it through and stayed with it. I even doubled up on washes a few times that first week or so. By the third week, the purplish hue was gone, and I'm left with a natural looking dark color somewhere between really dark brown to black. I love the results and hope this product stays in production. Don't get freaked out by the transition phase. If my buddies had noticed they would have had a blast pointing it out. I actually pointed out to them what I had done, and the results were so good they were just like, wow yeah your beard was white! No one noticed as it was changing. Try it, be bold. Hopefully this is a helpful review because I address some of the complaints I saw before writing this. My hair stylist suggested I use this shampoo, however because I have an extremely sensitive scalp( I even have to use steroids on my scalp a couple times a week) so I still only use Free&Clean shampoo & conditioner directly on my scalp which I wash twice because of oil build up. But then I use the Redken Blue Toning shampoo on the rest of my hair just not the scalp.. my hair is down to my butt and very thick and wavy so I use a lot of product. I've read reviews saying it doesn't lather, but honestly it lathers really well and I'm guessing they must have so much oil in their hair they haven't done a quick wash and rinse first or use too much daily product so they probably need to wash twice anyways. I have the shampoo sit on my hair for 5 minutes. During that time I rinse off the shower curtain and walls to wash away the blue (c'mon people… it will only stain if you let it sit) then I rinse out and have the conditioner sit for 5 minutes and it is NIGHT & DAY from when I used to get highlights. I started using this right after highlights and after almost 2 months my color still looks perfect without the brassy or red. I bought previous version of this shampoo and I loved it very much. It was perfect for me. New formula is not the same, unfortunately. I have thin natural hair which gets dirty every day, so I wash it every morning. With previous formula of this shampoo I could wash my hair once per two days and it really gave me a little volume. But now I don't get any kind of volume, my hair is flat. I use this shampoo with Redken Volume conditioner and my hair don't feel any volume at all. Also my hair gets greasy by the end of a day. This product is very concentrated, lathers great, smells amazing. But doesn't work for my hair type. If you have normal or dry hair, probably, you will like the results.Helga

This may be an unpopular opinion but I will say it; Milkshake's purple shampoo is better than Fanola's. My sister and I were both using Fanola once every 3 washes to tone our blonde hair but found the pigment fading quickly no matter how long I kept it in my hair (which is why we used it so often) and ended being too drying. I didn't like my hair texture from using Fanola and my sister ended up buying Milkshake's purple shampoo on a whim. I massage this into my hair and keep it on for 5-10 minutes before washing it out, making my hair silver bordelining lavender purple, which I definitely prefer because my hair stays ashy for a longer period of time. I found that my hair holds on better to the pigments in the Milkshake shampoo (I can go for 5-6 washes now) and feels a lot more soft and hydrated. Another perk of this shampoo is that it smells great and lathers very well, which makes my hair washing experience so much better.tina.t
I really do like this shampoo. I have tried so many different silver shampoos and non were able to give me a result like this. I try it two different ways. When I just need a slight touch up on my blonde, I lather it and leave it in for 2-5 mins. When I need a dramatic pull, I apply it when my hair is dry and leave it in for 5 mins before I lather and wash it out. Does leave a little purple behind for a couple days, but comes out easily. I find that the colour consistency in this shampoo is thinker than a lot of others and it lasts me quite a while even though I have longer hair. Anyone who dyes their hair copper knows that copper pigmented hair dye will not stay onto the hair particle for long. A brand new copper color hair do will last about a week or two before it fades into a honey brown color, and eventually a yellow-brown color. With this in mind, there are products that will help to prolong the dye coloration and slow down the fade process, and I turn to Redken shampoo every time to get the job done whenever I need to prolong my copper dye. I have coloured Blond hair and i have been struggling with the brassy tones mostly towards the end. So, this is amazing shampoo for improving my brassy tones and also brightening my hair tone. It gives a natural shine after applying the shampoo. My hair is clean and has a great shine. The fragrance is quite gentle and is not overpowering at all. I usually use L’Oréal’s Elvive purple shampoo so it was interesting to try the brands more expensive line. . . Unlike other purple shampoos this one had a more chemically smell. I also found my hair felt quite dry after using it and it was quite difficult to brush. I do love the tone it’s given my blonde hair, a nice silvery tone. I would have liked to try it with the conditioner to see if that improved the dryness of the shampoo but I can’t complain. Overall I’m happy with the outcome from using this shampoo, just a shame it’s so drying.
This is the best purple shampoo I have ever used. I find a lot of other purple shampoos on the market to be incredibly drying for the hair and staining. This is wonderful. I’ve been around the block when it comes to purple shampoos and this is one of the best ones I have tried, if not the best. I think one of the most annoying things about purple shampoos is how drying they can be on the hair but after using this my hair actually felt more hydrated. The toning on my hair was pretty significant as well, even without having my hair done in 4 months. When using purple shampoo I like to let it sit on my hair for a few minutes in the shower before rinsing off. I’ll admit I didn’t have high hopes for this but after using it it will definitely be a new staple in my routine! I decided to take advantage of Coronavirus quarantine to "go natural". My hair is a dark brunette, so growing out the silver is a challenge. Taking the situation seriously, I read all the best practices to make the transition easier. The best recommendation was to use a purple toned shampoo and conditioner. This product absolutely works. In fact, if you use it daily it will make your hair too dark. Use it daily, then back off to twice a week. Some have complained that it stains your nails. You're absolutely right it does! If hair color is to work, it must dye keratin, which makes up your hair and nails. Throw a rubber glove into the shower and keep it there to use with this stuff. For best results, rub it into dry hair and leave it while you do everything else in the shower. Also, this leaves the aroma of hair dye in your hair, because….. it is hair dye. I suggest hitting your hair with conditioner afterward, or better yet, follow use with a color shampoo that has a pleasant aroma such as Gem Lites brown pearl. (Hair dye like the ControlGX comes out of the bottle white and colors the core of the hair shaft, colored shampoos that come out of the bottle black like Gem Lites color the outside of the hair shaft.) Someone posted to leave the shampoo in for thirty minutes to get good results. Don’t! It is a hair dye with chemicals. You risk damaging your hair and/or irritating your scalp. It is designed to work gradually. If you leave it in too long, you WILL damage your hair. The product is meant to be used as directed and is very effective. So although I was skeptical, I was willing to try a gradual reduction product. It took a couple of washes before I started noticing any change, and yes, the white hair did take on a purplish hue. But I decided to see it through and stayed with it. I even doubled up on washes a few times that first week or so. By the third week, the purplish hue was gone, and I'm left with a natural looking dark color somewhere between really dark brown to black. I love the results and hope this product stays in production. Don't get freaked out by the transition phase. If my buddies had noticed they would have had a blast pointing it out. I actually pointed out to them what I had done, and the results were so good they were just like, wow yeah your beard was white! No one noticed as it was changing. Try it, be bold. I know this review is lengthy but only because I LOVE this shampoo. Let me tell you, when I received this product, I was nervous. Seeing as it was a color depositing shampoo, and the instructions say to avoid your scalp (because of staining), I was upset. I dance for 2 hours every day and by the end I am a greasy/sweaty MESS. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get my same "clean" feeling as I do with my old shampoo. But I have been using this daily and I can honestly say my hair is so clean after using it but not that dry overly "squeaky" clean like some shampoos. This is a genuine CLEAN that didn't strip my hair of any moisture. The scent is great, very fresh and not overly fragrant or unnatural smelling. On top of that, it WORKS. I am a natural medium-deep brunette and I've got red/copper undertones that are clearly visible in natural lighting, mainly towards to ends of my hair. Not anymore though! I've got beautiful, soft, and shiny deep chocolate hair now and I've been using it for a week now! My only real complaint is that it can be a little tedious to use. Since it can stain, they recommend wearing gloves and keeping it off the scalp as stated previously. I didn't think it would stain that bad, so I put it in my hair one day without gloves and the dye had gotten under my fingernails and it looked like I had dirt under them, as well as product having dripped down the back of my neck and leaving a bit of darkness there. I recently got this shampoo to use once a week after I had my hair colored. I couldn't stop using it because it makes my hair feel so amazing. You know that clean feeling that some shampoos and conditioners leave you with? That kind of clean! I know every product is different for every type of hair but I will be using this until it no longer works for my hair. I can't stop touching it and running my fingers through it. **It does stain around my nails but I have a nail brush in my shower and I just scrub my nails after and it helps or most of the time, completely gets rid of the dark stains! Using the entire Matrix Dark Envy line, this is definitely the icing on the cake. It's creamy and thick and you definitely don't need as much as I used the first time. Lol. A small quarter sized amount or a touch more for long hair, like mine. I would not recommend using this without at least using the shampoo. I prefer the mask as well. What I love about this product it is that it's never obvious that you are dying your beard. It does take a while, but it will slowly alter the color. To me, it's just dark enough and subtle enough to look completely natural. Nobody wants to be that guy that has a grey beard on Friday, then shows up Monday morning with a dark beard. It took me several tubes to figure our how to use this and here is how it works for me. If you follow the directions and leave on for only one minute you may get 10% coverage at best, and if your hair grows fast, you will always have a visible color line. Also, as a shampoo this works very poorly to remove dirt and oil. So, wash your hair with a regular shampoo first. Then use control GX and leave on for 10 minutes (I shave and soap up while this is on). Then rinse. With this routine I was able to get good gray coverage and can use every other day with no problems.Greg

Silver tresses looking kinda brassy or yellow? This product will take the yellow away and leave behind a healthy, shiny, ready to style head of hair. I am sometimes wary of bluing shampoo because some can leave that blue haired lady look but this one no. I leave mine on 10 minutes once every two weeks in place of normal shampoo and wala great gray hair. As a precaution if you have processed or bleached hair do a test first. This can just like other violet and blue based products become trapped in porous areas leaving a not so nice blotchy mess. It comes out but why risk it. I recently just purchased this shampoo since I didn’t have a toning product for my blonde hair. First off, I really liked how heavy and cute the packaging was. When I opened it, the smell is not unpleasant but not something I would typically gravitate towards to. It’s something you quickly get used to as you use it more and more. I've been using the Pantene Pro V Brilliant Blondie Illuminating Sulfate Free Shampoo for 2 weeks and I'm impressed! First things first, this formula is FREE OF sulphates, parabens, dyes, silicones, and mineral oils which is a winner in my book. Pantene's Pro-V Color Adapt technology senses the unique needs of multi tonal hair, like every strand stands out lighter! Get lasting vibrant color is a plus! Another winner in my book!! I liked the scent of this shampoo, it was heavy enough so that after your hair was dry, it lingered for a day or two. If I braided it or had it up in a bun, the scent scent stayed for 3 days! A very CLEAN scent like linen on a breeze. I loved the feeling of my scalp afterwards as it felt very cleansed and clarified. Like it had been rehabbed! LOL Honestly, it felt as though a vacuum had sucked away all the old buildup from past washings. I noticed that my natural highlights were also lightened a lot. Like I had sat in the sun for 1 week straight or I went to the salon and had my highlights done! The one thing I didn't like was it was very hard to get a foamy lather going and I suppose that's because it's a very clean and green shampoo without all the chemicals added to it. It's worth it for no foam. My hair was left really soft, no static, and no tangles. A lot lighter and shiny looking. I will definitely purchase and recommend this to my friends and family.Holly2019
I used the Brilliant Blondie Daily Rescue Conditioner in Combination with the Matching shampoo for about 3 weeks. This product claim is that it is free of Paraben, Mineral Oil and Dyes. I like that. It also has Silk Extract and Biotin which should should provide you with silky plump locks. Personally I don't think there is enough of either of these ingredients in the conditioner to notice. They are also the last few ingredients listed on the label. There is however a lot of forms of alcohol in the ingredient list! I have very long hair so when showering I wash my hair immediately, rinse and condition. This gives my conditioner 5 plus minutes to do it's job. It goes on nice and soft and has a very pleasant subtle scent. Once I rinsed it out my hair felt heavier than when using other conditioner. I also had a very hard time each and every time detangling my hair. Overall my hair did not feel good after using. For the entire three weeks of using these products I did not add any other product to my hair and did not style so I would get the full effect of the products used. (Covid allowed this as I am at home). I also air dried my hair everytime. Where the colour was concerned there was absolutely no difference in using the Daily Rescue Conditioner.Teejaie1960
I've been a past purchaser of Pantene, so I was excited to see this new line come out. I'm a natural blonde, who recently lifted my hair with bleach. This product specifically features 0% sulfates, parabens, silicones, dyes and mineral oils which is part of the reason why I was drawn to it. It also features added biotin & silk extract which I've been intrigued by lately in hair care products. The scent of this shampoo was really wonderful, and I really enjoyed it. Sulfate free shampoos tend to lather less, but I found this one still lathered quite well. I can't say that I think the biotin in it helped my hair in any way. On top of that, both the biotin and silk extract are both listed as the last two ingredients which I would presume means they're included in very small quantities. That being said, I did like the overall look of my hair after using this. I also really like the look and shape of the bottle/packaging of this. It fits really well in my shower and makes the usability of the product really great. Overall, I think I would buy this product again – and would likely recommend it to others. If I were to change anything, I would remove the biotin, add more silk extract and make it more hydrating.Natalie1962

I got this product due to a lot of good reviews. I use professional purple shampoo but ran out so figured id give this a go. MISTAKE. After 3 uses my hair is falling out in huge clumps, like cleaning your hairbrush once a month clumps. It's horrible! The smell is so chemical smelling and when trying to wash it out my hair felt like straw and I couldn't even put my fingers through it!!! I had to add conditioner on top of the shampoo just to be able to break through and wash the shampoo out. Worst mistake and I'm taking it back to ulta. Why is this product even a best seller? Be careful and mindful when purchasing this do your research on the ingredients and what is used to make this product work as I wasn’t aware it would quit literally strip my hair of thousands of dollars worth of work away from my hair …. this product has like a lightning agent in it as it bleached my roots and made my hair super ugly …. and quit literally damaged your hair it did this in as little as 3 minutes for me … so be careful not sure who this product work for ? Or why or what it’s intent is ?? but I thought it was a toner but it does the opposite it like strips / bleached ur hair leaving more work to be done … and patches !! Quit literally ruined my hair … maybe it’s for super platinum all over blondes it just lights and ads the smallest of tint tone to it.. if your looking at taking out any temporary colours like pinks or any playful colours off your ends to put another colour in this would help that and help get it out as it has stripping and bleach agents only thing I would use it for.Customer
so for the past around 8 years I've been using Shimmer Lights, since everyone would recommend that to me. Recently I tried Matrix purple shampoo, which worked the same way as shimmer lights. Where if you leave it on too long, you get purple hair… and I thought that was the case with all purple shampoo. Until I watched a Brad Mondo video and he reviewed this shampoo and it looked great in the video. But was it in real life…? My hair is a little yellow too after the bleach, which the shimmer lights, would just turn it to purple, which I thought was better then yellow. Finally tried this shampoo, and it takes a couple uses, esp since I had tinted purple hair as well. But it became a nice white platinum color as stated. Which was super shocking to me, that it never left any tint of purple, no matter how long it was on for. Brad mondo, referred to the scent as candy, i would say it's more of a floral scent. Doesn't feel as damaging as shimmer lights either. And around the same price range too, which is nice. I will definitely be turning over to this shampoo from now onJillian
