GiGi is great brand. I've always used (+10 years) their jar of wax, strip-free, and although a bit messy, I've learned to use it, almost hassle-free. I have very fine light blonde hair on my upper lip and chin. I've found that over the last few years (I just turned 30), it looks a bit thicker and longer than it was in my youth– and I've started looking into ways to remove it as it is unsightly in the sun/selfies. I've tried waxing but it always left me with irritation. I also just started using a retinol so waxing is no longer an option. Tweezing would take forever, and going for threading at a salon is not an option during a pandemic. I was skeptical of this tool based on the very mixed reviews but I decided to give it a try and use the advice some of the reviewers left. I'm very pleased with the results and so far have not had any irritation! So here is what worked for me: -At first it did not work. But that was because I was a dummy and didn't clean my face first (moisturizer is not your friend in this circumstance). I used a baby wipe to wipe down my chin/lip and let it dry… and THEN it worked. I also kept the baby wipe on hand and wiped down the area as I went, and wiped the tool too to keep it clean and grippy. SO– use it on CLEAN skin with NO product. -It worked for me both in the direction of hair growth AND opposite hair growth, but was MORE effective when I held it upside down in a U shape and went UP on my face so it was pulling the hairs opposite the hair growth– and this manoeuvre felt similar to threading. -It did seem to break some of the very fine/shorter hairs, but for the most part it removed the longer hairs from the root. It did not remove ALL the hairs, but removed enough that it does not show up in close up selfies, and honestly looks more natural than waxing because there are still SOME teeny tiny hairs. -Once I got the hang of how to use it, it only took about 5 min to do my entire lip and chin. I found it was more effective the quicker I went, and was less painful than tweezing/waxing! I kept my slanted tweezers handy and ended up plucking a few stray hairs but it was QUICK!kaffeinejunkie
Turning the ARROWS simplified: with the Tweezerman LOGO FACING YOU; the handles must be turned INWARDS ( towards the center between the two handle ends) If the BLANK SIDE is FACING UP, the handles must be turned OUTWARDS (away from the center). One cannot just randomly pick up the remover and start turning because on one side the arrows face one direction and on the flip side the arrows face the opposite direction. Verify this for yourself! I couldn't figure out why one time it would work and the next it wouldn't – arrow turning directionality is the answer. Also, alternately turning of the handles works better than trying to turn them simultaneously. Use longer, non-curved side-bar for cheeks, chin, under-chin and forehead. I go two directions: firstly with the side-bar perpendicular to the ground, then again with it parallel to the ground. Using this cross cut method makes sure the job gets done. Thanks to this simple, handy hair remover I no longer waste money on threading my lip or face and find this technique with a coil more effective too. Yes there is a learning curve and anyone who says it doesn't work has not used it properly. Yes, the process is somewhat painful at first but as the hair is removed it becomes proportionally tolerable and indicates the area is done. As a hairy-faced woman who owns five battery or cord-powered epilators, I can say this little spring was a big surprise. It works. The major advantage this spring has over my powered devices is that it actually grabs hair, over and over again. I am convinced that I can remove my facial hair faster with this spring than with any of my epilators and a whole lot faster than tweezing. I have been using this product off on for a couple of years. It works well when it works. However, it tends to get clugged up really easily. Even when you clean it out thoroghly it still isn't as clean as you think it is. Because there is a part in the top where you screw it on, and you cannot see all the hair that builds up in there. So, you even need to take that piece apart. But, be careful this is a little tricky because there are a lot of mall parts that can get lost. I suggest you use tweezers to this process on a table if you do not want lose any of those pieces. I received this about 6 days ago, my first impression of the flawless hair removal device was excellent although I found the way to insert the battery could been better as it is sometimes hard to slide out/in. I like how the cap is easy to remove emptying the hairs, it’s really convenient to just stick it in my purse when on the go! In terms of hair removal , I found it to be great at getting those short tiny hairs around the upper lips. I love how it’s able to remove the peachy fuzz off my face instead of using a dermaplaning this device replaced that! It’s gently removed hairs on my cheeks and around my chin/neck. It nicely cleans up your face and is great for touch ups. This device is excellent for my sensitive dry skin as I got not a single bump or redness. It leaves my skin looking better as removing hairs makes it look smoother softer which helps my foundation application to be a lot easier.
This is my second time buying this product after my first one died on me after 4 years of use. I absolutely love this product. It is a wholleee staple in my life. I grow facial hair on my whole face (thanks to my hispanic father) and this right here gets rid of that in 2 seconds. The hair on my face will generally start to grow back around 2 weeks or so later before I take another two seconds to rid of it. No pain (seriously.ZERO PAIN) The light is useful for seeing. You wont get nicked with this. The price is around $17-19.99 depending on where you go (thats a great price for magnificent quality). It’s gentle on the skin (I have sensitive skin). If you feel like it’s not working like it used to, change the battery. I think in the 4 years of owning my first one, i changed the battery maybe 3 times. I highly recommend this product. The best thing about this dermaplaning tool is it’s price! It’s a great dermaplaning tool for beginners. I had been afraid to take the plunge out of fear of cutting my face. This tool was so easy to use. It took a few minutes to learn how to best use on my face. But it does work! It left my skin soft as my baby’s skin. It does get the peach fuzz off, but it takes multiple times going over the same area. This is why I gave 4 stars. I wish that it was a little sharper to get the hair and dead skin off easier. I have had a dermaflash for about 4 years. I love it. But the blades are a bit expensive ($29 for 4). I wanted to try to find a similar, cheaper alternative. I really liked this one. But I have a lot of experience dermaplaning as I am an aesthetician. But I can't dermaplane myself with the modified surgical scalpel so this tool is perfect. The battery did run out before I finished my face. but the vibration isn't necessary if you know what you're doing.
I loved how easy and convenient this machine is to use. Listen friends, waxing gave me what looked like a serious hormonal acne that had my dermatologists perplexed. They prescribed tretinoin, benzoyl peroxide etc. but nothing worked. It happened again recently and I was able to pinpoint the problem on my own. This is the best product for my skin and hair type. I have extremely dark hair and I have a fair complexion. I tried bleaching but it just turned my mustache into a blonde mustache. 😂 I’ve tried waxing but the skin on my face is way too sensitive for that. So this cream hair remover is what I use. There are two things that you need to do when using this product. One, spot test. I know most products say to spot test but it’s EXTREMELY important to do this so you know if you’re going to have a reaction and how long you should leave it on for. I literally JUST used mine and left it on for 30 seconds too long and I can feel my upper lip burning. And the second thing you need to do before using is check the expiration date. Once I did my normal routine and my face started burning so badly. I knew I didn’t leave it on too long so when I started checking around the bottle and packaging, I saw it was expired. It burned my face so badly that it actually scabbed! BUT if you follow the directions and check the date, it’s the best product I’ve been able to find to meet my needs. This product is my weekly go-to. I have naturally very fine hair on my face and body. Due to the sensitive nature of my skin, I choose not to remove the hair due to breakouts, general itchiness, and the unappealing regrowth aesthetic. I bleach the “peach-fuzz” on my face once a week using this product and it delivers! The downside is that this has an itchy and burning sensation, but the workaround I’ve found is to lightly prep and moisturize the skin with coconut oil! The smell is still strong, but my skin doesn’t feel as irritated. I also find that the hair is bleached to a more blonde color, so when wearing foundation or other face products – the hair can turn a bit “brassy”, but overall this is the product that has worked the best for me for 10 years.dana.r

This works like a charm on my long, dark, thick arm hair. I know I shouldn't be so self-conscious abiout it, but it really makes a difference in my self-esteem when it is lightened. Be careful to measure carefully. If you use too much powder it may sting and itch a little bit. If it does, just use some body lotion after you rinse it off, and it will take care of it right away.Christine
I was wary of this product because of some reviews saying it doesn't work, but I'm so glad I bought this :') I have been growing a small patch of really thick, dark hairs under my chin/ jaw about the size of a quarter. I've tried plucking and shaving but it only makes them grow back ingrown. I finally decided to let the little whiskers grow out and I felt so ugly until I tried this kit! I got this for a few hairs that are starting to sprout above my upper lip (don't get old, folks!). I purchased it because this was specifically 'for the face', and was worried about such a sensitive area. I would advised, especially for your first time , using this product to cut the time in half. The box said 5-7 minutes. After 4, the hair was already gone (still completely gone 2 weeks later with no signs of growing back yet), but I was still irritated. Slight redness that went away within the hour, and the next day a little skin dryness/flaking. Nothing major–it was remedied with a good face wash and some lotion. Next time I'll cut back to about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. Now, keep in mind that I am VERY fair skinned, the hairs that were growing in were a dark blonde to light brown, and they were not thick–they were fine hairs. I did not need a very thick layer either, so I'd say this one tube of product is going to last me well over a year–I hope it has a LONG shelf life!

It works for me! I'm medium (olive/tan skin) and I was worried it wouldn't work but so far its not painful for me and I can see a difference in hair. It doesn't do a good job with my thick chin hairs but it's great for upper lip that are finer hairs and for my legs and pits. I purchased this product last summer and began using it immediately. I love that I don't need to purchase gels to use with this, like many other machines, because I'm allergic to the ingredients in the gels. I used this for 5 weeks and really began seeing results mid-summer. I had to discontinue use of this due to pregnancy. However, it's February now, and I can still see the results. I still have a lot of hair growth, because I didn't use it for the full 8 weeks, but all hair that was removed during the summer is still gone. It has not grown back. Please understand that hair grows in cycles. This machine is only supposed to be used once per week for 8 weeks…possibly a little longer. While we may be impatient and want to get faster results, using it more frequently will not yield faster/better results because hair grows in cycles. You can't kill hair growth after you already killed it. You also can't kill hair growth that is not in active growing stage yet. I really started to notice results after 4 weeks of use because I was able to see the thinning of the hair that was growing in. After the 8 weeks of use are done, you may still need to use a round of it from time to time, as we develop new hair follicles every so often. This does not mean that the machine doesn't work. It simply means, your body is producing more hair follicles. This machine promises to get results in the same amount of time as getting your hair professionally removed. Compared to the price of that, this machine is pennies! I can't wait to start using it again and hopefully be finished with my use of it by summer time so I don't have to deal with shaving so much during the summer, ugh! The only negative I can say about this machine is that the light is incredibly bright…making it uncomfortable to use when you have a migraine. I too had high hopes for this product after having done lots of research. I too have fair skin and dark hair which should be the ideal combination for success. I followed all manufacturers recommendations for preparation prior to use. I "used up" the flash head that came with the unit and the overall result is absolutely no change in either the amount of hair or it's rate of regrowth. (Reality check…. the flash is used up when it no longer fires…. not after 5000 or however many flashes. That is a scam on an already overpriced item of questionable value) I went so far as to only use the unit on the high setting and was doing two, 10 minute sessions per day. Still no visible results. Great packaging…… convincing sales and video presentation on the ME web site……. but none of those things translate into an effective device. For what it does the price should be in the $10 to $15 dollar range. For close to $400 I expect to see results. Do not buy! It's a huge waste of money.BikerReverend

I used this product with my wife. We have been using the SmoothSkin Pure Mini once a week for about 4 weeks now as the directions instructed. The manual says that you can do a full body treatment in as little as 10 minutes, but it took 10 to 15 minutes to do both full legs. The product has 2 settings, regular and sensitive, the difference is the brightness/strength of the light flash. There is an internal fan because the bright light does produce heat, it sounds like a quiet hair dryer. It is very easy to use, just put the window side flush against your skin and push the button (either regular or sensitive) and it will emit a bright flash against your skin. There is a sensor that detects if the window is completely flush against the skin and if it isn’t it will not flash. For areas where it is not flat skin (ex: knees) there is a magnetic attachment that fits over the window that makes the window area smaller allowing for the product to be flush against the skin and flash. There was no discomfort, redness or irritation when using the product. After about 10 minutes of use the flashes do get warmer and warmer which can cause discomfort, I just waited a minute or two for it to cool off a little and continued the treatment. We used the sensitive setting on the inside of the thighs and on the back of the knee area since these are more sensitive areas and the flashes on the regular setting were a little hot. My wife has light skin and light hair on her legs and the instructions say it works best on darker hair, so she was a little skeptical on whether this would work for her. It wasn’t until after her second treatment (week 2) that she noticed a change in the growth of hair on the treated area compared to the non-treated tattooed area. The hair was not growing back as quickly in the treated areas because it was shorter than the tattooed area hair. I noticed that some of the thicker hairs were not coming as thick and a little squirrely (not straight) which made me think the treatment was affecting the hair follicles. We will continue using this product and doing the weekly treatments for the full 12 weeks and I will update this review when the treatment is done.PaulieB1
Home IPL devices for hair removal can really be hit or miss. Sometimes they work great, but suffer from slow speed or the bulbs don't last very long. Other models just don't work very well at all. With the Smoothskin Mini those problems don't see to be an issue at all and the results are great. The device itself is incredibly compact, making it very easy to manuveur and get it angled exactly how you need it to get both large and small areas of skin. It's comfortable to hold and overall the design supports an easy use. The Mini has several really amazing features that help make the entire process effortless. The first being the skin contact sensor that measures your skin tone before each light pulse, which makes sure you are using the strongest but safest light pulse for each pulse. It also sports several intensity and comfort settings to make sure that you have all the control and aren't in pain while using the device. All of this with a very quick firing light makes using the Mini effortless and incredibly quick compared to previous IPL devices I've used. The results are really great. After about 6 weeks I've seen really noticable results and because it's so easy to use is one reason I think the results will last. I don't dread using it and don't have to commit an hour to a treatment so continual use will be no problem. Smoothskin Mini IPL hair remover does what it says. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. Comes with 2 comfort modes and three intensity levels for sensitive areas and more stubborn thicker hair and an attachment for precision it comes in handy for smaller spots. It has an automatic detection for skin tone so it measure what light level is needed. I am covered in tattoos so I did try it first on a small part of a leg tattoo that could easy be fixed if it damaged the color of it but had no issues using it on them. I love the compact size but I do wish it was wireless so I could use it anywhere in a more convenient comfortable spot in my house rather then plugged in the cord is long enough but that’s just me prefer cordless. I started with my armpits and bikini area once a week as directed those spots have the thicker hair on my body I noticed the difference of less hair growth in about 3 weeks but feel like if you had more thick corse hair it will take longer, I’ve shaved my armpits less often the hair also that grows back is thinner I hope eventually I won’t have to shave at all yay! I did my legs which the hair is very thin it takes about maybe 15-20 mins to do both legs entirely I’ve seen the difference with hair growth much more in a few weeks some spots hair has not grown back at all I do rub vitamin E oil on my legs and other areas on my body about 30 mins after to soothe my skin although it’s nothing like waxing no skin irritation at all. I’ve been very pleased with the Smoothskin brand. I high recommend if you don’t want to keep paying to go have it done or for in between sessions.pinkbat
