I don't typically write reviews. The CHI G2 flat iron is an excellent professional results tool. The passes at the roots of my hair are not uncomfortable/hot on my scalp. That extra quarter inch makes a difference for longer hair. The heat is consistent. Love the digital settings. I use medium prefixed setting and within a minute it is fully heated. You'll only need one pass through to get smooth results. There is no tugging or pulling the hair. You can get close to the roots easily. I run the iron all the way down except the last inch to protect my ends. Also, the plates are positioned just right so that you never burn your scalp. I had been wanting to get a straighter at a good price and I found this one which was about $20. Overall I really liked this straightener. My hair is fine, type 2b so straightening my hair was very fast. The first time I tried it I didn’t have that much time so I didn’t section off my hair and straighten a section at a time. I was still able to get very good results. I would have liked the straightener to help me more with my frizzy hair, but hey, this can’t solve all my problems. I was a bit skeptical purchasing this because of the price.. Most cheap flat irons don't work at all! Not Purple as shown, Product description (photo) is incorrect. I bought this in the past, but they must have changed the straightener but not updated the description. The straightener I received is not purple, but black with purple plates. Same goes for the purple blow dryer by Remington sold here on Walmart (shows purple but is all black with purple accents). I absolutely love my new flat iron that also allows for the ease of doing my hair while it’s wet. What a time saver it has been for me going to Nursing school & Work! The quality is excellent. It has air holes allowing it to vent and express steam and dry your hair while it is wet or damp. I set it at 300 temperature and it takes 10 seconds to heat up so it’s ready to start straightening right away. However it does take a bit for it to cool down. The iron is a great size for those of us that small irons aren’t enough. You can take a whole big section and it flattens easily and looks great. So bigger sections also allow for getting done a lot quicker. No need to take small sections to get a great look. This was the first flat iron I ever got. Thank God I have upgraded to a better one. I couldn't stand dealing with this one. Then again my hair is super curly. I am mixed (black and white) so I have very thick long curly hair. I have always used a curling iron even when the flat iron become the new thing. I already have straight hair but it lacks body and volume. The Conair Ultra Slim looked like a experimental flat iron since it's very affordable. I like the curve to the handle, this feature makes it easy to use and feels comfortable the whole time. I have type 4 hair and i was able to get my hair like I just came from the Dominican salon. The key is to put heat protectant spray while it’s wet, blow dry real good, then use the chase method to straighten. I put the heat on 20 or 25, not all the way to 30 After. I turned the heat down more and made loose flat iron curls to give it more body. I’m no hair stylist but this was easy to use Also, I used OGX PROTECTING AND SILK BLOWOUT SPRAY. I purchased this flat iron in January. up until then, I have always bought chi irons but I was intrigued by the floating plates on Nume's Megastar and the brag that the floating plates would give a tug-free experience. The plates are great, I'd say better than Chi, and truly does not tug but after some use the outer material of the Megastar began to chip off, sometimes in small pieces that you find in your hair and other times in larger chunks. This makes curling with the Megastar impossible and painful as the chips cause the straightener to get stuck and will no longer glide through the hair also causing some overheating on the strands. As I mentioned, I purchased in January and by March I started to notice this issue which only gets worse with more use. It's also worth noting that I've been attempting to minimize heat on my hair so in that Jan to March timeline I used the Megastar on average once to twice a week. I'd love to add some images of the damage but there is no place to do so. Again, sit started out great and I recommended it to everyone in the beginning but that is no longer the case and I no longer use it which is upsetting considering how much it cost.Tres
As a long time Nume user, it was time to replace my old flat iron as the heat control was no longer working properly. After shopping around, I once again realised Nume was the best fit for me. Delivery was great and I am very happy. It heats up super fast, it has dual voltage for travelling, auto shut off and no snagging of hair. I am looking forward to another 15 years of reliable use! My wish list though for Nume is 5 inch plates like my old one and a notification that it has reached temperature. My old Nume had the temperature control change colou.Its a shame the new one does not have those features but that withstanding, I would definately recommend!Anita D.
I've had many many hair straighteners during my lifetime but this one makes the top of my list. I'm not just blowing hot air! My hair is very curly and it frizzes in hot humid weather. When I straighten my hair with this straightener it stays that way no matter the weather conditions. Not only that, my hair is shiny and healthier. I was skeptical at first because of the many disappointing hair tools I purchased in the past. So I read the reviews that were very positive and thought I'll give it a try. Well to me it was well worth every penny. My friends and family asked me what conditioners I'm using because my hair looks so healthy and bouncy. I told them this product made a huge difference in the health and condition of my hair. One more thing, the handle is sleek and easy to maneuver to the back of your hair. Beeping and defaulting to a cooler setting, on first use. Retuned within a week explaining this, as my previous Cloud Nine irons never did this in 3 years of using them! Customer services advised me: “I would advise you to apply a little less pressure when using the product and you will no longer hear the intermittent warning beep” After straightening my hair for 20 years, this has never been an issue previously. Disappointed that my complaint was brushed off as me not being able to use the product correctly. The irons were retuned to me, and despite ‘multiple tests being carried out by engineers’, hey presto! The beeping and defaulting to a lower heat setting happened again on first use. I was really looking forward to these hair straighteners, having read lots of reviews, I chose these over another well known brand. To be honest I dont really rate them, I mean they're OK but don't see why everyone raves about them. I have to have them on the highest temperature for them to do anything. I am absolutely blown away by my purchase of Cloud 9 straighteners. I was a GHD girl, through and through, having had my last pair for over 10 years. However, I noticed that they started to pull my hair and snap it slightly so thought it may be time for an upgrade. I instinctively looked at the new GHDs but then I asked a few friends and they ALL said I should buy Cloud 9s instead. So I trusted their advice and bought some. Wow. I am blown away. I have very thick long hair and these Cloud 9s glide down it without a single tug, infact I can't feel them at all. But the BEST bit about these straighteners is that they keep my hair poker straight for days!!! With my previous straighteners, I would have to straighten my hair almost daily and sometimes even going out in the wind would affect how straight it stayed but with the Cloud 9s I am actually only having to straighten after washing and it stays poker straight for days (upto 4!) And because I'm straightening it less, I am benefitting from not having to wash it as much too as it doesn't go greasy as quickly. All in all, I am so pleased I switched brands! I bought this as a replacement to my old straightener (the purple version of this one). It does a good job as a straightener as it leave my hair looking nice when I use it. However, the pink paint on the plates started chipping not too long after I bought it. It keeps chipping more and more as I keep using it. It doesn't seem to affect performance (at least for now while the chipping isn't that big), but it's definitely a quality issue. Get the purple version instead! It doesn't have any paint on the plates, so it won't chip.hi there

I'll start off by mentioning the size of this straightener. The Dyson Corrale is bigger and heavier than most straighteners which isn't bad just takes some getting used to. It has a magnetic charging dock which is awesome as it securely holds the straightener in place and can be charged in between uses. Instead of laying it flat on the counter (or on the heat resistant travel pouch it comes with) you can just dock it and pick it back up while working on sections of hair. In terms of battery life itself I expected this to hold the charge longer at this price point. A full charge will last you about 3 hours (it lasts me about 2 and a half days of use) before it needs to be charged again. It's marketed as a way to use less heat to achieve straight strands. I have fine thin hair and use this straightener at 365 degrees and have noticed that my hair starts to wave after a few hours. Meaning, If I straighten my hair today – I'll have to straighten it tomorrow again if I want pin straight strands. I feel it does not keep my hair straight as long as my CHI straightener does. I will continue to use this straightener over my CHI since I love all the features and how it looks overall. My only real complaint is the lack of battery life and that it does not hold my hair straight as long as cheaper options do. If portability is what you are looking for then this is a great choice.lyaadii
Unfortunately, the straightener did not live up to the quality of all of the other Dyson products that I own. First, it does not straighten very well at all. If you’re looking to just get the frizz out of your hair, then it will work but it won’t get it truly straight. I should have returned this as soon as I knew but I decided to live with it and liked the fact that it was cordless. However a couple of months later, the lock button completely fell off! I contacted Dyson customer support multiple times simply to get a replacement button. Finally, they said that they would replace the entire unit. However, at that moment in time they didn’t have the purple in stock. I have the purple hairdryer sitting on a purple stand and asked if I could wait until they had it back in stock to which I was told that wasn’t possible I had to choose from one of the other colors that was available. I chose not to do that and have been using the end of a barrette to lock and unlock the straightener that doesn’t straighten. For reference, In addition to the hairdryer and the straightener, we own three Dyson vacuum cleaners and they have always been fantastic not sure what went wrong with this appliance. Finally, I would like to add that Dyson customer service has always been incredible in the past and this was a surprising and disappointing experience.JennyM0402
I was so excited to finally get to try one of the infamous Dyson hair styling tools! The Dyson Corrale is a flat iron that has the option to be used without a cord and is also rechargeable. The Corrale has a maximum temperature of 410 degrees. I have naturally curly 3c/4a hair that's thick and mid length. I washed and blow dried my hair first and then used the Dyson Corrale to finish off my look. Pros: * cordless option – great because you don't have to worry about the cord getting in the way when using and it can be convenient when on the go * leaves hair shiny and sleek – I have black hair which can sometimes look dull if not styled properly and the Dyson gave my finished look sleekness and with a nice sheen * works great on thicker and curly textured hair – sometimes larger brand products aren't geared towards hair types that some ethic groups have but the Dyson worked great on my thick, course hair which is natural with no chemical straighter. * charge is decent – I was able to straighten roughly 90% of my hair off of a full charge which was about 35 minutes. * digital display makes it easy to know the status of your iron's charge levels and temperature * stand and carrying case come with the iron – the stand is very convenient when using the iron to style Cons: * heavier than the average flat iron – while it wasn't an issue for me just know the iron does have some weight to it..likely due to the rechargeable battery…which can take a moment to get used to * charge – while I think the amount of time the Corrale holds its charge when in use, 30 minutes is not a long time for those who have thicker and longer hair. I've been using the Tyme iron for years now. My hair is fine and usually does not hold a curl to save my life. I've tried it all, rollers, wands, curling irons, my hair starts off nice and about an hour afterwards the curls are falling out and by end of day there usually wants any curl left. With the Tyme iron I only have to touch up a few spots on the SECOND day for perfect curls. That's not even the best part, the best part of owning a Tyme iron is the AMAZING customer service. This iron is absolutely amazing. First time I tried it like many here couldn’t get curls so I ended using the straightener side and in just a few seconds I was done. Tried curls again while watching the tyme tutorial videos still couldn’t get them how I wanted. So I scheduled the free one video call and it was the best decision ever. Not only you get to talk to the woman behind all of this but she will take her time to tell you what you’re doing wrong. Left the call with shiny bouncy curls. I wrote a review over a year ago and it was never published… seems a little shady. I used this for about a month. It was hard to get the hang of (I’m pretty experienced with hair tools) but I got it pretty quickly. So once you get the hang of it it’s is pretty quick to do a your whole head, but and this is the problem, it completely ruined my natural curly hair. I go with my natural curls a lot but bought this for when I want something different. After a month or so I noticed when I wanted to go natural, the sections of my hair that tend to be the tightest curls wouldn’t curl. They were really lifeless and limp and no longer curled, barely even a wave. I took a break from heat for a while and it didn’t get better. This completely ruined my curls. I have been growing it out for two years now and have almost gotten to the point where all the damage has been cut off, but still what remains is dry and bends at weird angles but does not curl. this is definitely not for everyone. I watched a lot of videos and prepared myself before attempting so this is not a case of user error that could have been avoided. I contacted the company at the time asking about a return but they just pushed for a training call which I was not willing to do because of the excessive damage my hair already had. When I asked instead to return it I never heard back. The return period passed and I was stuck with a completely unusable $200 product and ruined hair. I don’t recommend buying this if you have curly hair that you want to remain curly.Erin

My is my absolute favorite straightener. And I have quite a few (don't judge me 😫 ) and 3 of them have been a chi. I actually got my first one when I was in hair school and it was a pretty basic iron (back then they didnt have the same technology as they have today) and from there I upgraded. They have lasted me FOREVER! This new one came with a warantee and everything which when something is guarenteed I appreciate that as a customer. I'm much more likely to spend a good amount of money if it's a product that the company is so confident in that they can back it up. Anyway it has all the features you would look for in a styling tool. Safety, temp control, shut off feature, you can put it on a stand so it's safe to set down, it came with a cute little case for either travel or as a dust protector. I'm not sure if they all did, but this one that I purchased off the website did. And there are different discounts for people in school or sale or coupons for new or returning customers. I have pretty thick, somewhat wavy hair. Even though my hair isn't very wavy it's very difficult to actually straighten. The most id ever spent on a straightener before this was $20, and you could tell. I'd go over and over my hair with my revlon trying to get it flat and not to mention the plastic catching on my hair and ripping it But this has changed my life in just the 24 hours I've had it!! I am totally impressed by this flat iron. I have always loved CHI straighteners but this is a whole new level of amazing. I have long thick wavy hair and I set the heat to 360 degrees since I read 400 or above can really damage your hair. It heated up to 360 in about 30 sec and was ready to use. The plates are smoother than my other CHI and just glide through my hair. I was done in about 2-3 minutes and my hair has never looked so shiny!! I've always used heat protection spray but the shine was all from this straightener. My hair feels so soft and healthy. I also love the auto shut off feature and it's the main reason I bought this one in the first place because I forget if I unplugged my straightener or not. Only downside to this is the plug doesn't have surge protection on it, so don't straighten your hair while barefoot on a wet floor or around water. Thankfully my husband installed outlets in our bathroom that have the surge protection buttons on them. Just something to be aware of. Otherwise, this hair tool is a no brainer. I have stayed away from mini flat irons because they did not get hot enough to straighten my curly hair. I have not used this yet but did test it upon receipt. There is no heat control which I wish there were. It did get hot enough for my hair so I am very excited to take it on my next vacation so I can leave my regular, expensive flat iron at home. My daughter & I use several size/width BaByliss flatirons. We are African American with curlier textured hair. We nicknamed the Mini "Baby Bop". I purchased this to iron my bangs when I'm traveling for work. You have to section your hair into small portions and it's very difficult to finish with a slight curl at the end. My bangs end up looking straight and almost comical anytime I use this. It's not even that good at small touchups around the face etc. I've given it a few tries, and no luck. The straightener also has an auto-shut off feature, which is exactly what I needed because I always worry that I forgot to turn my straightener off. Lastly, regarding design, it comes with a heat-proof nozzle, which is such a nice feature when you have a small countertop like I do and tend to burn yourself after you’ve finished straightening your hair. As for straightening, this works wonderfully. I have fine wavy hair that tends to frizz at the tips and curl. It takes me fifteen minutes to straighten my hair, but this straightener made my hair look shinier and straighter without any kinks. For this straightener to cost as much as it does, you’d think it would work properly. I have naturally curly hair which can take about 30 minutes to straighten. This thing shuts off at least 5 times while I’m using it. You don’t realize it until you’ve gone over one piece of hair 6 times because it doesn’t seem to want to straighten. It is so cute and feels so fancy! It comes in a sturdy box that you could reuse and just looks so well presented. Anyways on to the actual product…\n\nThis iron feels so nice in your hand. I have small hands and i think it is the perfect size. Better yet it is coated in such a soft rubbery type material on the surface which makes it easy to grip and less likely to slip. As someone who easily burns herself on irons by having them slip this is a huge plus for me. At first I was confused where the digital display would be (before I turned it on) but once I did and saw it light up in the pretty rose gold part at the bottom I was very excited. That makes it seem very high end and fancy. Another really great design is the power button- it is on the inside of the straightening iron. How many times have I accidentally turned the power off or the heat up or down? Too many! This totally solves that issue because you can accidentally push a button on the inside. You control the heat and power with that one button and it’s very easy to understand and do. \n\nAnother thing about the design of this iron is the very cool heat resistant cover that comes with it. I haven’t seen this in any other iron and I’m very impressed with it. For storage, traveling, and every day use a cover is beyond helpful to avoid burns. Additionally there is an automatic shut off, which is pretty much a necessity for anyone who is forgetful. You might have unplugged the iron, but can you really remember when you think about it at work and worry about your house burning down? This relieves that headache. I tried it on short hair, long hair, corse hair, fine hair, curly hair, freshly washed hair, days old hair, etc. In every case it straightened the hair in one quick pass and looked great. I included some pictures below of two people I tried it on. I don’t personally have the curling effect down great so I didn’t demonstrate that in the pictures but I was able to make curls ranging from loose to more spiral (within the width of the actual iron). \n\nOverall I am very impressed with this product. This is the best lil guy for short hair or travel. Just the quality you'd hope for in a very compact device. I couldn't use full size flat irons with my short hair so I went to Ulta and got this Chi Mini and I love it! Chi always seems to cause minimal damage to my hair while handling my wavy hair in very few irons. I love my mini Chi! It's great for smaller curls too. I was originally sent a used straightener and when I called customer service, they immediately sent me a return label and sent me a brand new one. I was surprised when I got my package that they also sent me a free mini hair dryer. I wasn’t expecting anything feee I just wanted a new product but I was so stoked when I saw the mini hair dryer. My flat irons cut off while I’m doin hair, since the first try. Randomly power off, and I don’t think I’m getting g even heat distribution from the plates.when I curl the hair , some pieces are straight and sleek, but some pieces look untouched. I have had this flat iron for 4 months now, and I love it. My hair is frizzy, thick, naturally wavy, and I like to wear it board straight. I do not have the titanium one yet to compare the two but I am interested in trying it as this one does an amazing job and it was the cheaper of the two. It leaves my hair super shiny, smooth, frizz free, and does not damage my hair at all, though my hair has no color in it so not sure how it would handle in that case. The handle does get somewhat hot as previous reviewers have stated but not to the point where I cannot use it. I have no problem with the opening size either, as I part my hair and straighten sections at a time. Definitely was a good buy, especially for the price paid.Jeanine
I got this as a Christmas gift from my sister in law in 2013. I still use it every day and it works just as well as it did when I first got it! Best straightener I’ve ever had! Love! I have used baby bliss products for many years. This my favorite! The straightener gets hot quickly which cuts down time straightening your hair. My hair looks shiny and very smooth. Other straighteners pull the hair or leave frizz. This is the best straightener I've used and it's cheaper than the baby bliss pro model. I've had two baby bliss pros straighteners and they both went out after a few years.Lala24
