I was hesitant at first to buy this product due to the price but needed something safe for my 12 month old so that we could keep his thick, straight, uncut hair out of his eyes. Let’s talk about hair. I’ve been following IGK’s instagram for a while now and am always amazed at the wonderful hair they show on their feed. When I heard about their new line of hair products, I was skeptical. My natural hair is between a curl and a wave, in the least flattering way possible. What does that mean? That when I’m not blow drying my hair straight and therefore securing endless split ends, I am putting a lot of product in it to either enhance my curls or make my hairstyle look more intentional than frizzy. My disappointing experience using product is the reason why my bathroom is filled with hair products I’ve only used three times. The first time to try it out, the second to see if a different method yielded better results, and the third to make sure I’m not a crazy person who does not know how to use product. This, of course, has made me a bitter person in the realm of hair products, though searching for the Holy Grail of hair products has been a quest in the back of my mind. I decided to bite the bullet and order Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel ($27) to see if this was the product I’d been waiting for. My Experience Fragrance: 4/5 – Rich Kid smells like a perfume I just quite identify. While I would prefer my hair products to not smell like actual perfume, it is not an unpleasant or overpowering scent, so I won’t be turning away from it. Consistency: 5/5 – Rich Kid has the consistency of being between a paste and gel, more gel than paste. It does not, as one would epect, dry into a crunchy mess or weigh down hair, which is something not even the best gels for curly hair have done for me. Ease of Application: 5/5 – It’s very easy to apply. I sectioned my towel-dried hair in three parts (or tiers), lathered some products in my hands (about a quarter), and ensured each section got some product. I then twisted my hair in ringlets and roughed dried with my blowdrier. Disclaimer: I did blow out my bangs straight, because they are utterly unpredictable. See tutorial here. Results: 5/5 – My hair has never looked this good without blowdrying it straight to then use a wand to curl it. It was voluminous and gorgeous without frizz or being unpredictable. I used this product for a week. At the end of that week, my hair felt better than before I started using it. I really like this product. I felt like my hair was softer and just looked more put together. There is a light fragrance to it, that I really enjoyed. It wasn't overpowering at all. It just took a small amout (less than a quarter size but a little bit more than shown in the photo below) for all of my hair, but I wanted to make sure not to put in too much, so you may need more if you have longer or thicker hair than I do.tami.s

I use this every time I wash my hair. I have curly 3b hair. After combing out tangles, I use this gel. It's my favorite gel for light hold. My hair is fine and forms ringlets that need shape to hold together. This provides it for me. I love it and the light coconut smell. It's not sticky, has very little residue, washes out easily, and I need very little to hold my curls, despite having hair down to my lower back. I also use hair spray (Aussie Mega) for hold when wet. Strange sounding, but works for me.abby.r

I have a serious issue with my younger children catching lice. I have been fighting off lice for years, since my 19-year-old was seven or eight. Every time I get their hair clean of lies, its only a short time before they have it again and I have no idea where it keeps coming from. I bought this entire hair care line to try and prevent them from getting it going forward (after treating their hair again for the millionth time) but its still a problem. The scent is nice, it does wash their hair well, and I love that the bottles are a value size, but it doesnt repel the lice like it says it does and that was the main reason I bought this entire line or repel products.. This spray works. You have to use it every single day but it doesnt take much. It repels lice as it says and helps get the rats/tangles out. My youngest has super fine hair and my oldest has very thick hair and this works wonders on both hair types. And the smell isn't terrible which is a plus. It doesn't have an embarrassing odor to it at all. I highly recommend anyone with school age children to use this to help prevent lice. Once you get it, it's hard to get rid of. So it's best to use prevention methods like this and other methods as well so you don't get it in the first place.Sarah

I've been searching for years for a gel that keeps my middle aged head of hair looking full without that cheap shiny look. I, unlike the rest, don’t really like the smell, it kind of gives me a headache. It holds my sons hair in place, but it’s a temporary hold. I don’t put it on until right before a picture or before we go out, because it won’t last all day. It’s a little sticky, but not too sticky. You definitely need to wash your hands after using.Ksoko

I was looking for a natural styling gel for my little boy, I was tired of acohol and chemicals. And I'm writting this review after I almost finished my first Honey Baby Styling Gel. So my daughter (she's 6) wanted me to buy this gel for her. So far we been using for a week and a half and I love the smell, easy to apply because its not sticky. The gel feels very soft. My hair is very thick and somewhat wavy/kinky (I have American Indian hair). I have a lot of “fly aways” when I pull my hair back and after a few hours it looks like a frizzy mess. This is the product that I have been looking for for the longest time! If you have curly hair, this is a must have. Here is how you use it, after detangling your hair, and a generous amount to your hair. If you add too much your hair won’t look super curly. After that just bunch your hair together to make it look curly. My hair looks so gorgeous when using this product. My family uses it as well. After a year of locs- I combed them out. Usually I see a lot of product build up when I take out my locs, however after exclusively using this for a year, there wasn't much at all. The Shea butter styling gel jelly smells really good. The texture and consistency is very jelly. But the jelly is very soft and when you apply is to your hair it also gives a nice shine to it. However, I would not use this as a gel because I don’t think it holds very well and wouldn’t really stiff the hair like I would want it. I would use it for more softer styles. But overall I like it. I'm a very big Shea Moisture fan for my own hair care, so I was very excited to use the children's version for my niece. She had to have her hair cut very short, so we were looking for some thing to help it look better. We applied Shea Moisture generously to her hair and it made her hair curlier, softer, and more manageable. It also gave her hair an excellent shine. I really like that it doesn't flake. I received this item complimentary from Influenster for an honest review. I have very mixed feelings about this product. What I like about it is that it smells great. It helped define my normally frizzy hair. What I didn’t really enjoy was the consistency of the product. The jelly like consistency made it a little challenging to get even distribution throughout my thick head of hair. Because of that I had some areas of my hair that were well defined and other areas that were a little frizzy and shrank considerably. I had to put on a lot of it so I can get a good look. I also didn’t like that my coils ended up being very “crunchy” and hard. My hair looked ok for the day of styling but the very next day I tried to restyle and refresh my hair and I was disappointed that it didn’t work out well. I usually spray water on my hair to refresh my coils and the product turned sticky. I also found little white clumps of it in my hair and on my brush so refreshing was a bad idea. I have never tried a braiding jam before and this product was decent. It seemed really greasy and heavy. It had the petroleum jelly texture and since I was putting it on my 4 year old she really couldnt express if she liked it. I will give it props that it did give her great moisture for the entire week. it doesnt really have a smell to it so this would be great for people who are sensitive to smells. I on the other hand prefer smells to my hair products so I wish it smelled better. all in all it did its job. it could just be that it is product user inexperience and not necessarily the product. im going to be giving it another try.kellie.g

I really like this braiding jam. It's lightweight, kind of greasy but it keeps your hair moisturized and ur ends sealed nicely. I use it ony son's thick curly hair and it's amazing. It makes his hair easy to braid and the braids stay neat for weeks instead of days. This product really saved me some time while braiding and parting.
