As a lover of vintage fashion, I'd heard many good things about this pomade, but having fine, wavy hair made sculpted styles nearly impossible. Combine that with hair that's starting to thin, and you realize that maybe long hair isn't your thing… However, it turns out Suavecita is a short-haired girl's best friend! I recently had my hair cut into an asymmetrical pixie, and needed a product that would allow for frizz control and texture enhancement, without weighing my hair down or making it sticky. Not only does it help fight frizz (mega important if you live somewhere with humid summers), it gives a ton of dimension and texture to wavy hair, and makes training your cowlicks a breeze! I think I may have a bad batch. It's basically a solid bar of soap. Nothing like the video. There's no way to remove a dab. I have to pull the whole puck out of the can and lather it up in my hands with a little water like I'm washing my hands, then drop the block back in the can. Although hard to apply, it's is a great pomade! Holds up to the Texas heat and humidity. It will get a little crunchy towards the end of the day, but it's not bad. There is also some Murray's-like buildup after a few days that takes a couple shampoos to get out.Long C.

Suavecito is the best smelling pomade hands down. I use this particularly for work and it holds well all day. I have a gentleman’s cut combover and makes my cut look 10/10. This doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it seem thin and greasy. I alternate between a few pomades that I find occasion fitting. High shine, extra hold, a lot of sun or possible rain, certain pomades hold different and there’s one for all occasions. The consistency on the “light hold” is definitely “lighter” than the traditional suavecito which is fine and what I wanted. I didn’t want a hard hold and this is soft to medium hold. I just tried this out to style my old school crew cut. I find that it leaves my hair looking and feeling much more natural, smooth and shiny than the water based pomades. It's also really nice that it's reworkable throughout the day. Also, like everything suavecito makes…it smells amazing! Like everything in life, there are trade offs. As many have mentioned, this stuff does take a while to wash out even for me with a relatively short crew cut (about 1 to 1.5inches on top). I'd imagine the longer your hair, the more challenging it'd be to wash out.Tom

Amazing pomade my son has thick hair and I was first using the cremo pomade however after some months it was no longer holding his hair up and I searched for a new one and landed on this one. All I can say is that it’s AMAZING it hold his hair up in the style that he loves and leaves a shiny wet look on him if that’s what he wants if not he just combs it and the shine diminishes for a more natural look. I have been using this product for years (4-5 years). I have thick hair, and the strong hold was really the best. There is nothing "strong" about this product any longer, it has changed…why? It used to be thick and actually strong, not too shiny just perfect. Now it doesn't hold my thick hair in place, and just running your finger through the tub, you can tell it has changed, it's more like the original hold now. I tried to contact customer service to ask if it in fact has changed, and why. No response! No problem, on the lookout for a new brand that ACTUALLY offers a strong hold.Emil B.

I like this product. I've been using it for a while. It definitely has a good hold on your hair without making it look like there's anything in your hair. I would recommend maybe adding some natural ingredients to make it smell a little better, if possible. Also, I don't know who did the wrapping, but filling up the entire box with confetti paper for a small container of this cream pomade was not the move. If it's like an environmentally friendly thing, I get it, but find a new option. I bought the Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey Pomade to use on my relaxed hair. This was my first time purchasing from Carol's Daughter and I thought I could include the pomade in my hair care routine and was eager to use a product with "natural ingredients" for women of color. The package states it is for "dry, brittle and textured hair" so I thought it would be perfect since my hair since it is on the drier side, and I want to add some moisture to it. The first thing I noticed about this product is the smell. I thought it smelled great even though some people have noted they didn't like the smell from the reviews I read. The problem I had with this product is after I applied a small amount to my hair and scalp, I experienced some intense itching on my scalp within hours after use. The itching worsened and the next morning, I had uncontrollable itching to the point where my scalp felt like it was burning. I had to wash/shampoo it out of my hair right away! After washing it out, the itch was gone, however, my scalp was red and sore from the itching. I also noticed the my thighs were covered in hundreds of hives! I am not exaggerating either. It was bad! I had to rush to the drug store to get allergy medication/antihistamine! This will be the last time I would ever use a product from the Carol's Daughter line. I wouldn't want anyone to experience what I went through either. I don't know what it is in the pomade that caused the allergic reaction. I have never had any allergic reactions to any hair care products before, including hair dye. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this product to anyone.Melissa

I’m a Latina with long frizzy when humid, non texture hair. I wanted to try a product that would moisturize my dry hair. Read a lot of positive reviews about Carol’s Daughter but was hesitant to try it because I have non textured hair. First time I tried it with recently washed hair. It helped detangle my hair. It was easy to comb my hair but unfortunately when my hair dried it was so greasy it looked like I hadn’t washed my hair. So I decided to use the pomade as a before washing treatment for my hair. Left it on for about two hours before washing my hair with L’Oréal Everpure detox shampoo. Again easy to comb while still wet. When my hair dried I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t frizzy. My hair was so soft and healthy looking. Would definitely recommend for non textured hair but as a before washing treatment. I love Aveda brilliant humectant pomade — have used it on/off over decades (whenever i'm wearing my hair shorter, with lchoppy layers, so as to enhance curl). It smells GREAT. I absolutely love this stuff…and the smell…the smell is so nice! It's a shine pomade that you rub between your hands smooth over your hair for shine it tames frizzies. Because I have curly hair, I get lots of frizzies my hair is really damaged. This pomade makes it shiny healthy looking again. It's a little on the pricey side, but very worth it. I love the Brilliant line mainly for its fresh smell, and this one doesn't disappoint, but you can easily overdue it, so less is better. I guess I have 2c hair, so I don't use curling irons. When I use this, my hair is dry, or starting to dry, I put less than a pea size amount on one hand and get my other hand wet, rub together, then LIGHTLY go over the Top of my flyaways (I do Not rub it thru my hair like a cream, it's too viscous), and ending with gentle scrunching to ends. This tames the flyaways, and leaves hair shiny, while invigorating the senses. After getting blown away outside, when I come in, all I need to do is wet my hands and lightly go over the flyaways again, which seems to reactivate it and tames hair back down, and it's ALWAYS windy here! Less is more. Very easy to use and apply. Former mousse and gel user. Fine and thinning hair, matte offers enough hold. Very mild scent. Can comb hair back into place with the palm of my hand! Over lockdown I grew my hair out like a lot of people and decided to go to for a traditional barber cut afterwards ending up with a slick back style. I found my existing hair products a bit lacking so decided to look into getting more professional (if you will) products. After some research I liked the look of Uppercut's products and also their brand ideals and after browsing their site settled on the Matte Pomade. Now that I've been using it for a while and figured out the best amount and application for my hair I'm really pleased with it. It's light and not too shiny giving my hair a natural look which I really like. It also washes out well with water meaning I don't have to put my hair through shampooing every day but still working without making my hair greasy or limp a couple of days after shampooing. I do find I need to hold the sides with some hairspray but that could be down to my hair or inexperience in styling longer hair (any plans for adding hairspray to your range?). Just on a side note, I was sent a really handy little guide with the product that gave scores out of 10 for hold and shine for all the styling products which was much more helpful than the info on the site in my opinion. Seems quite effective in adding volume for men with a finer hair type and looking for a product that does that. Could be re-applied intra-day if desired or needed, as it is to be applied to dry hair rather than wet. I would say this also means it doesn't really combine or work very well if you try to add it after using another styling product (say you wanting it just to add more volume for example). It functions more as a standalone product from what I've found. Because it has a less firm hold it should work well for those after something to allow a looser natural-looking style and adding volume at the same time, less so for those who want a style that needs a more controlled styling product with a firmer hold to pull off.Luke

Bruh. I adore this product! Way better/more effective than the texture spray. It also has a more pleasing scent. I part my hair in about 4 different places, sprinkle a dab of this at the root, and work it in with my fingers. This transforms from a powder to a gritty gel-like substance. It gives me tremendous volume and texture. It also lasts for a few days afterwards, acting somewhat like a dry shampoo. I tried something like this from Aveda but I prefer this one.emma.a

Normally use the Davines moulding clay but thought id give this wax a go. Might be a good product for others but i'll be sticking to the clay. This wax left my hair feeling a little more oily than i'd want it and hold is not as strong. If you're after the mattest look then i'd recommend the clay over this.Pawel R.

if you want your hair to be sleeked back but hate the shiny look and find shiny looks greasy, THIS IS WHAT YOU BUY. a little goes a looong way, i use a pea size and warm it between my pointer ans middle fingers and then smooth down my hair with an edges brush for bun days. the mattifying part even mattified any greese i did have in my hair. def get it. i also use this after i curl my hair to loosen the curls and get the beachy look, so nice.stephbarakat

Using the pomade: The product is good at taming flyaways for a slicked-back hairstyle, without the crusty feel. It does initially leave a slightly greasy appearance to your hair but that seems to go away as the product sets in. I advise melting it a bit on the back of your hand first as the pomade is quite firm. Also, don’t be put off by the colour as it brushes in clear. Pomade scent: Not a bad scent in my opinion, however I think it is far too strong. When I buy a pomade it is to style my hair with, not to add a smell to my hair. I don’t want to smell it over my shampoo and conditioner, and I certainly don’t want to smell it over my perfume as I can with this. Due to the fragrance I won’t be buying this again and I probably won’t even finish the pot I purchased. Now that I have a short lob, all I use is a thickening spray and styling creme (with heat protectant) when my hair is wet and then I use a very small amount of this pomade after I curl my hair. This pomade gives me that piecey look for an effortlessly undone look. After my hair is dry it takes 5 min to curl and run this into my hair and I’m ready to go. I don’t even need a texturizing spray or hair spray when I use this pomade. I rub a small amount in between my fingers before rubbing it onto my ends or other areas where I want texture, hold, and a piecey look. I tried salt sprays, texturizing sprays, and many other products before finally landing on this stuff and it makes my mornings so much easier. The husband loves this, several jars in now. No sticky residue, no build up, natural hold. Not sure there is anything else required in a pomade! He has thick, curly hair that needs a lot of hold, but I'd also use a tiny amount of this on my ends and I have fine straight hair.HHou

Ruzel has always been my favorite pomade. Glad they came out with a fiber. It has a minty smell. Really strong hold but its still matte. Great value with a free pocket comb.Anonymous

Pretty sure I already reviewed this… But Ill give it another try. The product is fine. Good hold. Only problem is that its maybe a little greasy. My trouble was with the delivery and the tin itself. The box was oversized and there wasnt enough packing. The tin arrived with several dents, and actually has a small puncture. Doubtful that the hole happened during shipping.Anonymous

This has been the best hair product I've tried by far. Works well, has a strong hold if needed but if you use less it can have a little looser hold. Works best with damp hair though. Good medium hold pomade – good for everyday use in normal to fine hair. Washes out easily. I don’t find the ‘cola’ scent to obvious – more like a little vanilla that does not linger or conflict with other scents. If you like to play with your hair during the day, constantly waving you fingers through your hair, then this is Not for you, you need a Waxy one, like the Pink or Green on from this brand. Water based Pomade gets hard like Gel, but it does a 500% better job than Gel, no Gel competes with any Water based Pomade. Water based Pomade also rinses or washes out completely very easy. Waxy pomade comes out using excessive Conditioner, put it on without water and let sit a minute. I've tried many brands and others are good also, but this brand is better than any other I tried. So for Waxy Greasy: Pink (Heavy) and Green (Medium), For Water based: Blue (Heavy) and Red (Medium) This Red one Holds my hair Great, I can style it however I want and is my Favorite one at the moment. Please ignore the top picture. I looked and scanned, but the product I was looking for is not on here. The product below is a shining hair pomade. It’s clear, and molds and keeps hair in place. It doesn’t have much of a fragrance. What I could smell is very light and pleasant. A little bit goes a long way too. It’s water based, so it doesn’t leave a film and it washes out easily. I found this on Amazon for $18. But this was sent to me directly from the product warehouse. The brand is Fibertech and it’s called Lady pomp. I would recommend it.dina.h

My son normally uses Layrite pomade. He’s used it for years. We grabbed this to try and wow it’s so much better. His hair smells amazing. It doesn’t smell that great in the container but it will when it’s on! It holds the hair great 5 stars for sureBuffalomama
