20 Best Men’S Shampoo For Frizzy Hair (Feb 2023 Update)

I have a lot of hair, my scalp is quite dry after i wash it, but then gets a build up of grease and oils over the course of the day and starts to smell. I wash my hair daily and was conscious that i may have overwashed my hair to date, causing my skin to increase the production of oils to stop my scalp from drying out – this shampoo was to be my saviour. However, it wasn't working for me at all. The team at Aveda were ready to help me refund or exchange it for another item and I was good to proceed – until that is, my wife (who's INVATI products had run out and was using this) told me how well it was working for her. So we kept it. Her hair has got healthier, thicker and feels really light and clean. She was experiencing thinning hair prior to going with the INVATI range, but favoured this. She uses a hair oil from the asian stores, over night before using this to wash it out in the morning (no need for a conditioner).HonestHair

Once upon a time, companies started making most men's styling products out of wax, petroleum, and other greasy jar products that are really hard to get out of your hair. In response, they also made their Men's shampoos a lot more harsh, and the conditioners way too heavy. The result was products that are hard on your hair over time, especially if you don't use jar products at all. You have to condition almost every day to keep your hair from drying out, which isn't great for your hair if it's shorter. I've tried a lot of designer shampoos for men, and most of them aren't great. Sure, they're better than Head and Shoulders, but most of them are really harsh on your hair, or the silicones build up and make your hair dull over time. I decided to give this a try, and I was blown away at how well it works. It's moisturizing, but doesn't weigh your hair down. It cleans out products, but doesn't strip your hair and make your scalp feel dry. Paired with the conditioner, which is also excellent, my hair and scalp health have really improved. I no longer itch my head throughout the day due to a dried-out scalp. Finally, the product smells great and the scent lasts ALL day. It's almost unbelievable how long it lasts, it's almost like a light cologne. The scents are natural, so it doesn't irritate my skin like other products do sometimes. The package came with a shampoo leaking from the cap and I contacted the customer service, they promptly sent a replacement via Second-day delivery. Great customer service! As for the shampoo itself, I bought it for my husband! I used to work in a hair care company so I know something about the shampoo formula. This shampoo is formulated with mild sulfactant – that's what I like most! Also, the lather is rich and creamy. Hair is smooth and moistuized when dry! My husband likes it so much and I tried once and like it too. If it were not formulated with a men's scent, I think I would switch my own shampoo to it, too!GGua

It is seen that it is an interesting product and that according to my research through reviews and recommendations, it seems to promise good results. so my assessment of this product is a 2.6 because it is a product that I have not used, but I would like to try it since I am a person who loves it!! try hair products and always look for a way to care for and repair it.so as such I have not tried it, but reviewing and informing myself I have seen that its recommendations are good as well as the results after its use. I haven't used this product in a long time. I do remember it very clearly. I bought this at one of the discounted or liquidated stores. If I remember right it was either t.j. Maxx or Burlington. It is very Vivid in my imagination that I was trying to do everything to get rid of it. I know it stayed in my downstairs bathroom with a little bit left in the bottle. I hated the residue that it left on my hair and the lack of my hair feeling clean after using this. My ex-husband was very bad about using the last of a product once it got down to the bottom of it. It sat in his shower downstairs until one day I used the last of it. I always thought it was a product for men and that was a reason that I never bought it again. Anyone who dyes their hair copper knows that copper pigmented hair dye will not stay onto the hair particle for long. A brand new copper color hair do will last about a week or two before it fades into a honey brown color, and eventually a yellow-brown color. With this in mind, there are products that will help to prolong the dye coloration and slow down the fade process, and I turn to Redken shampoo every time​ to get the job done whenever I need to prolong my copper dye. I use this along with the Redken conditioner Color Extend and shampoo three x a week, conditioner once a week, and my copper pigmented color will last about 2 months before it fades onto a honey brown and eventually to a yellowish brown by the 4 months mark. So, little fun story before we get into the full review. I was going to upload the picture of the shampoo liquid itself but the bottle stole the show that had to submit that instead, it looks like a small cologne bottle, but it is shampoo! and guess what, smells like a good manly fragrance too. Tried the product and I loved it, obviously didn't feel instant results about the moisture part but the nice aroma it leaves in your hair it's perceived from the first use. I suffer of dry skin, that also includes scalp. After a week of usage I noticed reduced dryness, thank god. Maybe or not important for you, but it is cruelty free, it is not tested in animals, which also gives confidence that was meant for humans by humans. Give it a try!Orion

I wanted to write a review on this product and express my sheer disappointment in its performance. By far though, this is the worst Conditioner I’ve ever used! I have it two stars because yes my hair is slightly softer than if I didn’t use conditioner at all, but this product doesn’t soften or condition my hair anywhere near as good as other products I have used including suave, dove, and others. This conditioner is quite runny and not very thick like a typical conditioner is, and I blame this for why it doesn’t work. I feel like whatever this is made out of just isn’t quite as good as a typical conditioner is. My hair is all weird on the ends and just isn’t soft like I desired. Because of this, I won’t be continuing to purchase this product anymore. I will buy a different brand as I know how it will effect my hair. I will include a 2 day picture and a 2week picture for comparison. The 2 day picture is the one in which my hair isn’t curly. I found the fragrance to be very pleasant. It reminds me of wet bark or moss on river rocks. It also has a sweet gardenia note. My hair was already in good shape prior to testing the Blackwood conditioner so the best I can say for it is that my hair is still in good shape. It kept my hair soft and silky. If you're into woodsy smells then this would be a good option. My only issue with it is the container. Sadly in my area I can’t recycle number seven plastics, your location may differ. I also find that the nice looking bottle will keep me from using all the product up, so not that economical. But on the plus side it has a pump and that will help with portioning.gaby

It's a bit pricey but trust me its worth it. I was tired of my hair feeling gross, dry on the ends and oily at the roots. I threw away all my other garbage shampoos and I finally found the shampoo of all shampoos. Def sticking with this one a little lathers up a bunch. So, I hesitated about writing this review because I don’t like to complain, and I did love this product when I first purchased it. My hair was soft, smelled great, and I even had people commenting on the health & shine it had. I loved this product so much I stocked up on it.

About a year into using this shampoo and conditioner duo along with the leave in treatment I noticed an unusual amount of hair fall. I thought nothing of it assuming it was my hair screaming at me for the heat/hair dye ect. However, I noticed it more and more and after 6 months of extreme shedding I decided I should look into what was going on. First i started taking supplements (Womens vitamins and biotin) assuming it was my dreadful diet to blame. No change. I put a shower head filter in to filter my shower water. No change. Then I went cold turkey on heat styling, and stopped using hair dye. Nothing seemed to help. I even bought different ‘it’s a 10’ products to try to “strengthen” my hair. I attempted to not wash my hair but once a week… still incredible amounts of fall out. I was lost. Finally I changed shampoo. I started noticing in the shower less and less fall out, soon brushing my hair produced less wads of hair to clean from my brush. It seems I have found the culprit. I have spent 6 months trying to identify what I was doing wrong, and all signs point to “it’s a 10”.

I’m posting this not out of anger, or spite, but because everywhere I looked I saw “how great” this product is …. I even asked my hair dresser what she recommended for hair fall and she asked what I use and I told her “it’s a 10” and she raves about how great the product is.

my hair is incredibly thin and I have little baby regrowth. I don’t want someone else to go through what I did and change shampoo when it’s too late. So if u r using it’s a 10 and noticing a lot of fall out… maybe it just doesn’t work for us?

I really like this shampoo and conditioner. It's a shame so many people left 1 star reviews because it just didn't work for them. It would be different if there was something wrong with customer service or the product itself. However, with skin care, nail care, and hair care so much of whether or not it'll work for you is left biology and body chemistry and you have to try different products to find the one that works with yours. My hair is complicated. I have what I call a white girl fro and it is not pretty! And this is not to be slanderous in any way whatsoever! My hair literally sticks out like a lions main when I first dry it! So not kidding!!!! And yes I use a brush because if I don't, it's even worse! My hair stylist suggested this product but, I was very hesitant because I have tried so many different products and wasted a lot of money doing so. I'm so glad I tried this! My hair can be fixed to be straight or fixed to be curly. Either way is a lot of work. This product along with a matching shampoo, all from Eleven Australia, my hair has been so much easier to fix and maintain! My hair feels healthier and doesn't feel weighted down at all. With my hair type, whatever you want to call it, frizzes so bad when it's raining or just humid, with just this line of product, the frizz is so much less than ever before. Even if I start to get a little warm, my hair previously would would start frizzing up, especially at the crown. I see a few bad reviews, understandable. I didn't look at the ingredients list which I guess I should have. I usually buy this at my salon but just ordered it from here. I think this line smells AMAZING. It smells like you left the salon every time you wash your hair. My hair feels soft and clean afterwards and doesn't leave a residue or make my hair fall out at all. I don't usually leave reviews for products but this conditioner was a miracle in a bottle. My hair has been so dry and I've always spent at least 30 minutes detangling that it stresses me out and I usually end up procrastinating and only brush it once every few days and it is DREADFUL. I found Brickell by chance last November and took a shot on their sample pack. I really loved all of the products. They seem to work great and they smell amazing too. So far I’ve returned to buy this set along with the eye cream and facial scrub. My hair looks and feels great after just a week of using these two products. A little goes a LONG way. As with most products from brickell, I don’t prefer the smell. Their scented and unscented products don’t smell great for me, and I have lots of them now. They all do work fantastic, however. The shampoo my be my least favorite of the products I own if only because of the scent and dryness it leaves my scalp with. The conditioner in the other hand is a great product and I use it on my beard at times too. All the face products are great. The face lotion works really well for my dry skin and is what sold me on their products to be honest. Definitely my go-to for daily shampoo now. The scent alone makes it worth it, but it is also a premium shampoo overall. Lathers and cleans beautifully, my hair looks healthy and strong, and it it’s easier to style my hair now because it doesn’t lay flat or get randomly wavy like it does with bottom shelf shampoos. I was very disappointed I love this shampoo I have ordered it a couple other times. I did not know they had smaller bottles and I probably would have known by the price but it said $5 and something off that would be approximate price with that added on for the next size which is much larger. okay yeah I think it was costly for the size but the bottle that lid was not tight. is Ashley leaks out in a plastic bag thank goodness for that down to where the label starts. I don't remember if they had white protectors when you open the lid to pull off I can't remember that. I will not bother bringing it back I need some now. if there was something supposed to be over the top of that bottle, it is a little scary. I am in love with Pureology Smooth Perfection Shampoo! This is my first time trying Pureology and I had no idea what to expect. The first thing I noticed about the smooth perfection shampoo was the scent, I loved the hints of cocoa. Upon first application I decided to use a small amount and I am glad I did, a little bit goes a long way with this shampoo. I have really long hair and I only had to use a quarter size amount or less. I want to point out that I always have to use a handful of shampoo when I use my usual drugstore brand, so I was shocked by how little I had to use of the pureology. I massaged the shampoo in my hair for a good 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out. My hair felt so soft and clean without feeling stripped at all. I typically have a lot of fallout when I wash my hair, but noticed less strands of hair coming out while washing. I followed up by using the pureology smooth perfection conditioner. I also use a quarter size amount or less and it was more than enough. I focused this conditioner at the ends of my hair and put whatever was leftover on my roots. I let the conditioner sit for the recommend time of 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out. I felt like it took no time to wash all of the conditioner out. My hair was less tangled and overall felt so much healthier than what I am used to. I used the smoothing lotion on the ends of my hair, blow dried my hair and was so amazed by the end result. The end result after I blow dried and straightened my hair was incredible. My hair was less frizzy and more straight making it so easy to straighten. I would like to add that my hair is very wavy/curly and frizzy after washing. The price for the Pureology Smooth Perfection set is a bit expensive, but honestly it is worth every penny. I got this product complimentary from Influenster and Pureology for my honest review. I really loved how this product worked for my hair. It left it so smooth and silky. It lathered really nicely and felt great when I washed it. It also rinsed out nice and easy and left my scalp feeling great. When I blew my hair dry it was like silk. Absolutely fabulous! Only negative, which I was REALLY surprised about, was the scent of this product. It was not pleasant at all to me and not something like I’ve ever smelled in a shampoo. I received this product from influencer pureology, but all opinions are completely my own. I have enjoyed using this shampoo. I find that the combination of the shampoo conditioner does help smooth my long hair and does really help smooth frizz. The shampoo cleanes hair great, good lather though it can make hair feel only slightly stripped. Conditioner is a nice one that helps smooth but doesn't overdo it and cause hair to feel heavy. Both help cleanse and Condition my hair without feeling too dry or too weighed down. The heat protectant from this line is nice and I feel it helps smooth hair and help make it somewhat softer. The Shampoo/condituoner works pretty good for me, but I gotta use it twice to get the results I want bur that's with most shampoo and conditioner I used before I jisy wish this had more of the scent to it, as like the body wash when u put some of that on a wash clothe or a scrubbie puff and start to use it the scent fills the bathroom, and is wonderful! I personally LOVE this product! From the first use, it was wonderful! I was previously using the menthol dandruff shampoo/conditioner, but because of my hair type, it was leaving my hair a little too oily. But this one is PERFECT! At first, I did not know whether the shampoo I purchased here at Home Essentials Direct and the one I purchased at eBay was authentic. So I bought another bottle of this shampoo from a local hair salon, and when I used it, the color of the shampoo was pure, thick white, just as the shampoo I bought here. The hair salonist assured me that the Daily Moisturizing Shampoo should be pure, thick white; only the Daily Shampoo is a clear brown color. I have used Redken for 30 years. it seems like no matter which formula I like, they discontinue it. I used to use Go Clean and I liked it. When L'OREAL bought the brand, the quality suffered. Redken Brews Daily was not good and I thought all hope was lost. Then I tried the Extra Clean and lived it for years. Now it's discontinued and they recommend this scented water. It even says it's lightweight which is fine if you have normal hair and work in an office. But if you exercise or have even slightly oily hair, this is not for you!AS

And since it's summer, my husband had to shower twice a day but this did not seem to dry out his hair despite using it several times a day. I am very impressed with the shampoo/conditioners and I pair them with the soap bar. My hair feels well cleaned and conditioned. I have discovered that in all of my Cremo purchases the products; cologne, bar soaps, and now the shampoo/conditioner are far better than other name brand items. Bought the shampoo & conditioner duo a long time ago and regret not returning. I keep forgetting just how bad it is until I try it again. These leave my hair a tangled mess & smells like a perm. Usually I use less favorable products as shaving cream but am finally tossing theseMelissa

I tried this entire line of the glossing shampoo, conditioner, the leave in and the blow dry styling balm. While the smell is pleasant and the conditioner is nice and thick, I was disappointed that my hair did not look any shinier. I have also tried the living proof restore line and that one gets me a lot more shine and time between washes. I was really hoping this would work because I love it's a 10 products. But nothing seems to beat their original line. Disappointed since it's not cheap. The first time I used the blowout balm, I was super frizzy and curly. (I have curly hair but straighten it with a blow dryer and flat iron.) The second time I used it I had to use a lot more product for it to sort of smooth out. It still looked very frizzy. Not worth it for the price. Will keep looking for a product I can be happy with.Marcella

Honestly shocked the reviews aren't better! I have super fine frizzy hair and have tried EVERYTHING! I've tried Living Proof, Prose, It's A 10 Keratin Conditioner, you name it. THIS specific Blow Dry Miracle Glossing Glaze Conditioner by It's a 10 is where it's AT. Nothing has compared to this. It takes me 10 pumps of Prose to accomplish what I can do with 1 pump of this stuff. 1 pump and all my knots and tangles are out, and my hair dries way less frizzy. It's so easy to work this product through my hair in the shower, a little goes such a long way. My hair feels and looks smoother. But most importantly I think I lose way less hair in the shower just because I'm not spending 2 minutes trying to work conditioner through my tangly hair! Seriously one pump of this stuff and my hair untangles and is smooth to the touch. I'm hooked on this stuff. It's changed my hair. Please never discontinue this!Briana

To preface. I'm a 25 female. Natural light brown hair, bleached low maintenance blonde. Thick wavy frizzy hair that reaches the lower bottom of my back. Prone to split ends and breakage at the bottom of my hair. No extensions. I wanted to add this so people with similar hair types can relate. So to start, I'm so torn on this shampoo… I tried it for 3 weeks and I do like that this shampoo and conditioner cuts down on my overall frizz and made my hair so much smoother and less likely to tangle which is exactly what I was looking for. BUT there is some things about this shampoo I just can't ignore. First off the smell, I just can't get past it. It reminds me of a menthol cigarette. It just smells sooo minty and lingers after washing. Some people may not mind the smell but if my shampoo is going to linger, I'd prefer it to smell like something other than strong mint and almost a tea tree smell. Second, when the conditioner sets for a couple minutes before rinsing out I've noticed that my back and neck where the product has been laying in my hair will get very cold and tingly. Almost like how when you have a breath mint you get the same effect in your mouth but it's on your body this time. This alone made me decide not to repurchase. I like my shower water very warm and I found myself constantly turning the heat up because while the conditioner set I would get extremely cold from the tingly feeling. It can be overwhelming sometimes and linger even after washing the area thoroughly and drying off. I would assume if this was a shampoo and conditioner without the minty smell that I was having an allergic reaction to it but since it has that smell I just really don't know if the tingle is intended or not. And lastly, I've noticed a lot of small breakage at the top of my hair by my scalp. I'm not prone to breakage that high and only notice it after a fresh bleach every once and a while although it is usually very rare for me. I should note that it has been 3 months since my last bleach since I am a low maintenance blonde and I was not using this product during my last bleach. I also take a lot measures to protect my hair that could be the cause of breakage that high. So at this point only thing I've changed is this shampoo and conditioner. I've decided not to finish the rest of the bottle due to concerns about further breakage. This is just my experience. Some people seem to love it but it's a no from me. I hope this helps some people on the fence after reading conflicting reviews. I've switched to Joyco kpac reconstructing shampoo that has also given me the same desirable results so far with a much better smell, no breakage, and most importantly no tingly feeling on by skin.Lexi

I saw the hair loss reviews but if the hair is coming out at the follicle then that is definitely health related not from a shampoo. Shampoo cannot cause hair loss unless maybe a severe reaction to the scalp and there's swelling and for whatever reason the follicle comes out with it but that is highly unlikely. But anyways back to my review lol this is the most hydrating gentle shampoo I've ever used it's perfect! It cleans my hair and makes my scalp feel so refreshed but my hair is detangled and moisturized! And the conditioner is so creamy and moisturizing! The scents for both are so relaxing to me and my hair and scalp are taken care of with this set of shampoo and conditioner. my hair is so soft, shiny and perfectly moisturized. Definitely for medium to thick hair types unless you have finer very porous hair then I think you'd like it. Definitely one I can rely on and will repurchase but I already got the liters so guess I'll be repurchasing after that lolHairlover

I had used this shampoo many years ago and recalled it being a nice, basic product. Really liked that it was cruelty free too! I purchased a full liter bottle in September thinking it was a sound investment. Over time I noticed that I was shedding a lot more hair than usual — my brushes were loaded with loose hairs, my shower drain was clogging, and I was finding fallen strands all over the place. I also noticed that I was getting strange pimples on my scalp that went from being benign tiny bumps to open, bleeding sores overnight. The length of my hair started to feel brittle and excessively fine. I compared photos of my hair from July (when I was using a different shampoo) to December (after using a full liter bottle) and I've lost half my hair density. I'm horrified. This product feels nice but over time increasingly damages your hair and scalp — be wary!Didi

I have tried many, many, many salon-quality shampoos. My hair and scalp are very particular and I often struggle to find a product that works and doesn't seem to cause any issues. Paul Mitchell's Shampoo One is an incredible product and a staple in my bathroom. It cleans my fine, thin hair effectively without drying it out, doesn't irritate my skin, and leaves my hair shiny and glossy. And the best part? It's cruelty free! I love Paul Mitchell products and the fact they are cruelty free and don't break the bank like some other hair care brands. However, I felt compelled to share my experience with this shampoo since I didn't see other reviews that did. I used this shampoo for about 6 weeks when I realized that it was causing little pimple-like bumps all over my scalp, and I realized I was also breaking out more around my hairline on my face. On top of that, I was noticing more hair than usual in my brush every time I would brush my hair but I thought maybe it was just me overthinking. Only in the last couple weeks I realized that my hair didn't actually feel as thick as it usually did and that's when I finally realized that I had lost a significant enough amount of hair from this shampoo that it was time to stop before I did further damage. It makes me sad to have to stop using it since I went out on a limb and got the big bottle. Lesson learned I guess!Deidra

This drenched shampoo f conditioner is beyond amazing! When it comes to other high end shampoos/conditioners I have used this as so many more benefits to my hair than the others I have used. This was my first time trying this brand and I am so grateful to have been chosen to test this products from Influenster. I am constantly on the lookout for products to use on my own hair and on clients hair. I have so much hair… literally so thick, curly, dry, and all the way down to my butt so I was not sure these sample sizes of the shampoo conditioner would get the job done but I was pleasantly surprised with how little of each bottle I had to use to completely lather and coat my hair. I always am looking for a product that is going to provide the much needed moisture to my dry hair and this drenched moisture shampoo and conditioner did that and some! I really wanted to like this product but it just didn’t work for me. I got my hair colored for the first time and the stylist recommended this shampoo and conditioner. I have I have fine, medium length curly hair and I have a lot of it and it gets kind of dry. She told me it wasn’t necessarily for curly hair but would help keep it moisturized and soft and keep it from tangling as much. The first couple of times I used it it was great; the smell was good, my hair felt nourished and it looked shinier. Some after I noticed my scalp was getting very dry and flaky and would sometimes feel irritated. I normally wash my hair every 3-5 days, but since using this I’ve noticed the roots getting very oily by the end of the first or second day. The ends of my hair have also become more dry and brittle, splitting and breaking more than usual. Since using this shampoo and conditioner, I’ve also noticed I’ve been breaking out more right along my hairline a LOT more (I haven’t changed anything else about my routine like moisturizers or face wash). I really want to like this product and the reviews seem really good but I’ll be giving mine away and don’t plan on buying it againEmily Geiman

I have type 1C hair, color treated. I did not like how heavy and "clumped" my hair felt after rinsing. I tend to prefer silicones to create that slip feeling. This is a thicker, creamier, mostly opaque shampoo that foams up VERY well, a dollop went a long way. I only wash 2-3 times a week and usually prefer a more clarifying shampoo. I am not sure the pH, but my hair seems to feel more "textured and dry" when using this, rather than "soft and silky". I tested a 1.7oz bottle of this (4 washes) with my usual conditioner to have a controlled variable in my routine. I will say, I did not end up as oily as quickly as I can with some other shampoos. I do love a good fragrance in my shampoo, and this smells like that signature "hair product" smell, which doesn't intrigue me.KC

I found Brickell by chance last November and took a shot on their sample pack. I really loved all of the products. They seem to work great and they smell amazing too. So far I’ve returned to buy this set along with the eye cream and facial scrub. My hair looks and feels great after just a week of using these two products. A little goes a LONG way. Which has been true of all of the products I’ve purchased from them. Great product overall!John J.

As with most products from brickell, I don’t prefer the smell. Their scented and unscented products don’t smell great for me, and I have lots of them now. They all do work fantastic, however. The shampoo my be my least favorite of the products I own if only because of the scent and dryness it leaves my scalp with. The conditioner in the other hand is a great product and I use it on my beard at times too. All the face products are great. The face lotion works really well for my dry skin and is what sold me on their products to be honest. I have the unscented and although it’s better smelling than the scented one- which is too lemony to me, it has a bit of an odd smell to it. The face scrub is also a great product.Cody L.

Definitely my go-to for daily shampoo now. The scent alone makes it worth it, but it is also a premium shampoo overall. Lathers and cleans beautifully, my hair looks healthy and strong, and it it’s easier to style my hair now because it doesn’t lay flat or get randomly wavy like it does with bottom shelf shampoos. For reference, I have short hair, and I’d say it’s fairly thin. This bottle lasts me a pretty long time.Raymond A.
