I have an oily scalp with wavy waist length thick hair (many thin/low porosity strands). Color treated blonde. Problems: fluffy/poofy hair, greasy roots, dry ends, seborrheic dermatitis (on back of scalp) 1. Product longevity: I only used the allotted card sample packet of 10 mL shampoo & 10 mL conditioner, which I was prepared to not be enough for my long hair. It was perfect! It went a long way, which was a pleasant surprise right off the bat. 2. Scent: the fragrance is pleasant, light but it hangs in there, even into the next day. The scent is unisex. It just smells very *clean,* like a fresh aquatic citrus. Although it’s subtle, it is noticeable enough to get a “ooh your hair smells good” when someone goes in for the hug. 3. Effectiveness: this cleaned my hair so well, without making it feel overly dried or stripped. I have a hard time getting a good product that works with my dermatitis, and actually calmed the flare up I was having. Day 2 after wash, my head was so much less itchy than it was all week. My hair stayed clean and free of grease throughout all of day 1 and 2. Paired with the conditioner, my hair was smooth, shiny, soft (but not overly fluffy/full of poofy flyaways). It felt hydrated and my ends looked good. I’ve been faithful to olaplex for the past 2 years, but think I may have a new fave. I noticed that with olaplex, my hair began getting greasy SO quickly. I was getting greasy same day as wash. I still love it (that LATHER and scent tho!), but I think it’s too rich and moisture-focused for regular use given my oily scalp. My seborrheic dermatitis was getting worse and having intense flare ups. Anyway, everyone’s hair is different, and can change in different seasons, so I really don’t think there’s a “one size fits all” hair product that will be best for everyone at all times. That being said, transitioning into warmer, humid spring/summer weather, I’m really pleased to have found this product. It’ll be great for clean summer hair.jessicaeve1023
For reference: I have LONG hair with a naturally wavy/curly texture, and with that comes frizz. A lot of it – even though I'm very aware of how to tame it (naturally kept or with a blow-out). My hair behaves weirdly, i'll just put it that way – it's difficult to achieve perfectly smooth styles. HOWEVER… I've been using OUAI products (I started with the THICK SHAMP+THICK COND.) for a little bit over a year now & all I can say is…I will NEVER go back to anything else, ever, unless I find something AS extraordinary as this brand. It's like magic in a bottle, to me at least. I have never experienced better hair (at home, done by me) in my entire life. It's insanely smooth & silky. I have such minimal frizz now. I normally need to blow dry AND straighten my hair, but I am beyond satisfied with just the blow-dried results. The only cons, I would say, is that because there's such rich and moisturizing ingredients (love to see it!) your hair can become a tad oily after the third day, even second sometimes. You just need to figure out what the right amount of product is for you so that you don't over do it. The second con, though it's nothing too crazy, would be that sometimes I end up needing more product in the shower, as it doesn't lather suuuuper well – but again, this depends on hair length and the amount that you know you need. I guess I just wish it foamed a bit more, is all. BUT these are such small things that can be resolved & aren't much of a big deal. For the oily con as mentioned above, this is why I switched to the MEDIUM line & I feel like it has helped. The THICK line may have heavier ingredients. I have tried SO many different shampoos and conditioners. A lot from drugstore and high end. And lately I've noticed I've been shedding more than usual. I have been using pureology a lot. I've used strength cure, hydrate and the nano works good line. But for some reason the pureology strength cure especially really irritated my scalp and makes me lose soooo much hair. So I got the ouai thick hair shampoo and conditioner and the first time I used it my shedding was only like 10 hair strands! I've washed my hair 4 times with it now and my hair scalp feels so clean but the shampoo makes washing my hair so easy and doesn't tangle my hair. And the conditioner is chefs kiss. I barely have to use any and my hair is so conditioned after the shampoo/conditioner. My hair is so soft, shiny, clean and my natural waves/curls look really pronounced since using the set. Also they smell AMAZING I want a perfume in the shampoo scent! I got the leave in, oil, and curl cream and they all work together beautifully and don't make my hair feel producty which I like because pureolgy always leaves my hair feeling kinda gross when I use their leave ins. Anyway I totally recommend this set and if you're getting greasy hair from this set try the medium or fine hair set. This just probably isn't for your hair type. I have healthy fine hair which is prone to getting greasy. This shampoo sounded like a godsend and after first use I quite liked the results it certainly cleaned my hair. However after multiple uses I noticed my hair would be very extremely knitted after washing and brushing through was causing my hair to actually rip I could hear my hair snapping!!. This is very strange for my hair to rip I also noticed my hair felt kind of sticky or coated and running my hand through my hair again it would often rip !. I've tried every dark blonde and brunette dry shampoo on the market. I have fine hair and wash it about 3x a week. This shampoo not only helps with having it look fresh, I mostly use it for root cover up. It gives me an extra 2-3 weeks between colors. I received this No-Poo Original Zero Lather Cleanser for Rich Moisture complimentary from DevaCurl. DevaCurl is the original curly girl friendly brand. I haven't used their products in a while, but I was excited to get to use their "no-poo" again. Imagine my surprise when I realized that after the recent reformulation, this product is no longer curly girl friendly! I am extremely disappointed that they no include isopropyl alcohol in their formulation. The product still smells very good and has the traditional no lather formula that is characteristic of this type of cleanser. But putting a drying alcohol in something that is supposed to be for the driest hair type means I will not be using this product in the future. Very disappointed in DevaCurl.Clgjt13
This product sounded good, it was I might add over priced for a "sample size" but it's a good brand so I thought I'd try it. I cut my hair recently and usually it curls more when shorter so I was looking for a new conditioner. I've seen thick conditioners before but this ridiculously thick even turned upside down banging it on the bathtub wall barely any came out. You shouldn't have to poke your finger in and try to get enough out and that's filled up …what if it was far down. A terrible product contaIner, perhaps it's a good product. The little bit I got out was okay (no bad smell) but returning it and complaining. Sometimes a great product is put into a terrible container. I don't know why they are calling this "original" since it is nothing like the original formula. I used No-Poo and other Deva products exclusively for about 10 years and loved the brand. Then a couple of years ago, I noticed that there was a slightly different smell to the No-Poo & the product seemed to go bad after a short while and cause skin irritation for me and my kiddos. I compared labels from some older travel bottles a year or so ago, and the ingredients were the same, so most likely it was just a different formula or fragrance. I stopped using around that time because the irritation was causing my hair to thin. I decided to try No-Poo again after the 2021 re-brand, hoping they had realized their mistake and gone back to the original formula. But instead Deva implemented a totally new coconut based formula, which inflamed my scalp & neck so much that I only used it once. I've been using this dry shampoo for years. It's always worked great for me. However, the last several canisters I've purchased (I buy multiple of the items I use regularly) have stopped spraying with 1/3 to 1/2 of the product left. First canister I thought maybe a fluke, but the last 4 have been like that. Like I said, I buy multiples of my everyday products, especially when on sale. I can't return because past 30 day window. I wanted to buy a “better quality” dry shampoo after having multiple ones not work for me: powder and sprays. So even though this was $25, I figured it came highly recommended and I’d have to spend more to get a better product. Well, I started using this on a Saturday, granted when my hair was extremely greasy, and it did nothing. I washed my hair Monday morning, used it Monday night to prevent some grease from forming, then a refresh tues morning and tues night. I battled to go another day without washing but decided to go for it. I used it wed morning as well and that afternoon. I admit I think the use was excessive. But I noticed Thursday morning (I washed my hair wed night) while parting my normal part in my hair, that my hair thinned drastically in just those few days! As far as I can tell it’s just in the one spot, but all the same. I don’t care if this cost me $25, it went in the garbage. I gave it one star because it did smell really good and it did seem to keep my hair fresh looking. But the thinning is not a chance I’m willing to take. Hopefully you have better luck. I normally have a hard time using dry shampoos because the powder is hard to rub in, leaves white residue and smells like baby power. The Unwash Dry Cleanser is a completely different experience! First of all the spray is super easy to control, instead of an excessive amount coming out with one quick squirt, you really have complete control on how much product you actually want to have in your hair. Second, the product more resembles a hair spray versus a baby powder. Its sort of liquid-y so even if there is leftover residue, its clear and you and others have no idea. lastly, it smells- GREAT! Fresh and clean, it actually is more of a dry cleanser than a dry shampoo. My hair instantly looks volumized, cleansed and super shiny. My hair is fine and thin, so after one day it generates a lot of oil. With this product my hair looked almost freshly washed and smelled clean too!. This has been the only dry shampoo that does not leave any type of white residue on your hair and it does not weigh your hair down. It is quite hard to wash out but if you're looking for a product that gives you two days of clean hair this is good. But we have to remember about one thing. All dry shampoos are not good for everyday use as they are not good for the scalp skin. I’ve never used dry shampoo before so I used this a couple of times before writing a review to work out how I felt about it. It has quite a strong smell as it goes on but this wears off quickly. I found that it left a slightly orange tint on my scalp which wasn’t ideal. I could remove it by rubbing but I was always paranoid I would miss a bit. Overall I would say it did allow me to eke an extra day out before I had to wash my hair but I think this is largely because I am working from home and what looks acceptable on a computer screen is different to what would be acceptable in person. I don’t think I would use this to give my hair a boost before a day in the office. On the plus side it’s weightless, once I had brushed my hair through it didn’t feel like there was any product at all. I wish I could give it 5 stars, but I will have residue sometimes when I touch my clothes after touching my hair. The dark version is also a very light reddish/brownish/blondish. I came across this shampoo at a Tj Maxx and once I read the back I knew I had to take it home with me. It seemed very promising as far as detoxing the hair from product buildup. The lather is great and the smell is as well BUT even though I used conditioner afterwards my hair was stiff and hard as a board. It not only removed the product buildup but it completely stripped my hair color. I was shocked when I looked in the mirror only to see that I no longer had any dye and my grey hair made it seem as if I hadn’t dyed my hair in months. I purchased the product to cut the buildup in my hair. I've tried other clarifying shampoos that work pretty good but this product goes above and beyond. My hair is bouncy again and surprisingly my color is MORE vibrant after using it. I use Redken "blondage" shampoo a couple times per week to keep my blonde hair from getting brassy and it works fantastic! I think bouncing between shampoos really "mucks up" my hair. (For context, I have fine straight Asian hair that I wash every ~3 or 4 days. In dry shampoos, I look for dark hair-specific dry shampoos that add volume to my roots on the days I don't wash it.) I had really good experiences with Verb's Dry Conditioner Oil and Weightless Hair Oil, and when my holy grail dry shampoo (Batiste Divine Dark Dry Shampoo) was running out, I decided to go out on a whim to try this out, thinking I would have equally great experiences. I was wrong! I used this dry shampoo on second day hair, and while it left my hair feeling clean, it did nothing to add volume. It left my scalp in a weird in-between where it looked clean and not oily, but thin and limp. I don't usually spray dry shampoo on consecutive days (usually one douse of dry shampoo is good to last me for a few days), but I found myself grabbing for my old Batiste spray. Maybe I’m just used to the drug store dry shampoos, but I truly cannot feel this in my hair, in the best way. I have dirty blonde hair but this truly doesn’t leave a white cast on my hair despite it being kinda dark at the root. It gives just enough of a refresh (be proactive with it, it won’t save greasey greasey hair). I use it with the dry oil from verb on my ends to help smooth them out and it works amazing to help me go longer between washes. Also of note the nozzle on this is awesome, sprays out just enough, never too crazy, and has a nice dispersion. The scent is not my personal favourite (ouai still wins in that department), it’s a light powdery scent, it’s not overpowering or off putting at all and I can’t really smell it after about 30 mins. I brush my hair well to distribute the oil a little bit then I spray it in at the roots, and let it sit while I do something else for a little bit then brush it through and it feels light and clean, doesn’t get the weird waxy feeling that batiste tends to give. I have to say that it is one of the best shampoos I have used. It really is fragrance-free, unlike other fragrance-free products that have chemical smells. It is fairly thick, so with a moderate quantity, I get my hair squeaky clean. It also leaves my hair soft and untangled, something that is usually a problem with other shampoos since I have really long hair. I still use conditioner to prevent breakage but my hair feels so soft I feel I could go without it. Even though I am a sucker for good smells, I don't mind that this is fragrance-free because it does not clash with my conditioner. I would recommend it to people with sensitivities since it does not have many of the bad stuff you find in other personal care products like SLS. At first I wasn’t sold. It takes a little while to get used to using the cleanser instead of shampoo and a little experimenting to see how much you’re actually supposed to use. I am also prone to dandruff and have used head and shoulders for years, so I was worried about swithcing to something that doesn’t treat dandruff. After the first month I had THE worst dandruff. It was awful which lead me to do a little research. Most dandruff is caused by a bacteria growing on the scalp and most regular shampoos/cleansers dont treat for that! I found that spraying a little bit of apple cider vinegar on the problem areas of my scalp before getting in the shower has completely stopped my dandruff and I can finally enjoy hairstory! Now that I’ve been using it over 2 months and have stopped the dandruff problem, I absolutely love hirstory! I have curly hair, which has been so damaged by hot tools, and I’m finally getting my curl back, my hair is so soft, and I won’t be going back to normal shampoo! I’m an avid believer! I definitely recommend giving it a chance, and a good amount of time to reap the benefits.Brittnie K.
For years I've been trying to find the right products for my hair and scalp! My hair was always either too oily or super dry. I also have a minor case of alopecia, so it's been frustrating trying to find the right products for my hair that are not harsh on my scalp. I had to wash my hair every day, use hair masks, oils, different sprays and balms – it was ridiculous. But then my co-worker started using New Wash and recommended it to me and I'm SO glad she introduced me to it! I have been using New Wash for almost 4 months now and I will never go back to using shampoo! I always missed how my hair was when I was younger: thick, shiny, healthy, wavy, and never had to use any heat to style it. With New Wash my hair is back to the way it was when I was 10 years old and my hair loss has gone down immensely! I haven't had to blow dry it or use any additional products on it since I started 4 months ago. I only use New Wash, Hair Balm, and sometimes Undressed for extra texture! Also since my hair and scalp have adjusted to New Wash, my hair is never oily – in fact I look forward to day 2 and day 3 hair – and I only have to wash it twice a week! I've saved so much time and money since I've switched to New Wash and Hair Story products. Yes – they are by no means cheap upon purchasing, but compared to the hundreds I've spent every year on new products every other month to deal with my hair… it is so worth it and actually costs less. The only frustrating part of switching to New Wash was the dandruff that lasted about 2 weeks as my hair and scalp adjusted. But after that, it was amazing and now I LOVE my hair! The original 8 oz bottle I initially purchased lasted me 3 months since I don't have to wash my hair as often anymore! I have thick, slightly coarse, long hair with a slight wave/curl. I love the way my hair feels on day one, but I do feel like I wish the clean feeling lasted longer. Day two actually seems the roughest and then three and four are a little more manageable. I keep pushing it longer and longer, hoping that my scalp will eventually adjust. I should also mention that i'm in Texas and its 100 degrees, so it could be that i'll be giving a five star review in a month or so. I will say, I use Overtone pigmented conditioner to put fun colors in my hair, and the Hairstory shampoo makes it last SO long. It really stretches the color life out which saves lots of $$$. With traditional shampoo it faded immediately, and with Hairstory I still have peach hair after two MONTHS. Which is a really big win for me. I also love not having to use conditioner! I will have to see how long I can stretch it, and if it ends up being fiscally worth it, since it's quite expensive. But overall, I am very pleased with how healthy and clean my hair feels without a traditional detergent shampoo.Erin

👩🔬This [brand:bioderma] shampoo is a great option to cleanse and re balance my scalp, while softening my frizzy ends (along with a good conditioner). Even if I have straight fine hair, I mostly use Curly Girl Method approved shampoos (no silicone or detergent ingredients) and my hair never looked better! I have thin hair and the shampoo doesn't weights it down. It adds some shine and radiance, but nothing spectacular. Along with my conditioner it adds a nice softness to my hair. My scalp is very sensitive, many shampoos give me dandruff or itchiness, but I didn't experience any issues with the [brand:bioderma] Node Fluide. My hair is slightly oily, not greasy, and the shampoo didn't had an impact on how often I need to wash my hair. I do have to admit that the first washes, while my hair adjusted to the shampoo, my hair got oilier a little faster than usual; so I'd advise trying to let the hair adjust to this shampoo before making any judgements. It does a nice mild lather, I'm used to gentle shampoo formulas which don't suds a lot, so for me it's more than enough to get a good wash. Every 4-5 washes I do use a cleansing shampoo, but for my regular washes I prefer non-detergent formulas like this. The major caveat for me is that the shampoo is really liquid, almost like water. I personally can't manage to pour it in my hands without slipping. So my solution is to pour it directly on my scalp, which sometimes makes me dispense more than needed. I am really happy with the effect of this shampoo. I have used before other non-detergent shampoos and I am really happy with this one. I give it 4 stars because of the really luquidy (nearly watery) texture of the shampoo. It is so runny that I have to be veryyy careful that the shampoo does not leak between my fingers before I apply it on my scalp. Other than that I like the product.R.
