I used this for the first time this week. I really like the shade. The trick to getting a good application is to make sure you shampoo your hair before application so it’s damp and why residue/build up is gone, which can make the color not adhere to your hair. Remember, semi-permanent coats the surface of your hair, not the cuticle, so you want it as clean as possible. Using it on dry hair will give you a tint, but probably not the bright effect you were hoping for. Liked it so much, I got a few more shades of red and brown to try out.shannon.g
this stuff is AMAZING!! So I have been on the grey silver hair trend (well trying to get there at least) lol and the stuff is a lifesaver! I couldn't get the darn brass out of my hair and it was driving me crazy! tried almost everything! My last option was toning but after all the bleaching I didn't want to use chemicals… this saved my life and turned my pale yellow to a beautiful silver after one wash with a little bit in my shampoo! then I shadow tried with it full strength! no brass slightly profile like I wanted (only in the sun and thats because I left it on as little longer to achieve the purple silver look). For a back story I am a natural sandy brown and my hair is in a mohawk currently. So I purchased the iroiro neon blue and first I did a bleach kit as I mention darker natural hair as I wanted to get the full effects of the neon. So bleached first then onto the color. I applied the color and left it on for 45 minutes so that i would get the bright vibrant blue i wanted. 45 minutes later i wash dye out under cold water as warm will fade it, didnt want that. However I have been dying hair for 20+years so I'm experienced and know what I'm doing. I am almost a week out and I literally look like I used one of the 1q 0 washes dye because I havent washed it yet but it looks as if I've pretty much combed it right out. This is by far the worst hairdye I have ever used. I've used numerous brands and numerous different colors and I will never purchase this brand again. Ive used multiple Iroiro colors by now (Plum, Pink, Yellow, and one of the blue colors) and I love them. The smell is FANTASTIC, my hair feels great, and the price is worth it. The pouches are so convenient and much easier than having to shake the last bits of dye in a squeeze bottle (aka Arctic Fox). Also the colors, especially pink, last a good while and fade nicely. This product worked wonderfully. I used L’Oreal colorista for brunettes to make a conditioner to put on my hair first. This is a true burgundy plum on medium brunettes. It came out so red I was impressed. Not that messy imo. My only regret is that this color looks better when I’m pale in winter. Can’t wait to tone it with a true violet. So far Amika violet toning drops are helping make it a bit less extreme. Great color payoff, environmentally friendly packaging, minimal damage. To keep it a buck, I did not want the color that Magenta and Red mixed together created. I wanted more of a burgundy color and what I got was something that looks like…sangria. I asked a professional if I were to do the color from a box, if it would create the color I wanted even though I had naturally dark brown, resembling black hair. She said, “YES! My natural hair is dark brown, almost black. Close enough to black that I don’t feel like I’m lying when I say I have natural black hair. It’s the same color as your standard IKEA black-brown finish. So when I decided I wanted RED RED RED hair, like cherry/fire engine red, I went with this. I didn’t feel confident bleaching my hair separately after trusting a friend who had almost graduated from hair school. This stuff lifts like a mothertrucker. If your hair is medium to light brown, get 10vol developer. 20 was enough for my dark brown hair. If I wanted it to process more quickly I went to 30vol. 40 is so overpowered you’re going to fry your hair off if you leave it too long, and don’t mess with that if you don’t have years of experience dying and bleaching your hair with more than the $5-8 boxes at Walmart. This stuff is the real deal, your hair WILL BE RED. Like the same red as you see on Pinterest searches for bright red hair. I still have a box of this I hope to use soon and I will buy it again. I hope they expand their shades into the magenta and purple range a bit more. Be warned, this will stain the hell out of any bathroom surface it touches. Buy red towels. Lay the towels over your countertop and your floor. Be extra careful when you add the color boost packet into the bowl because it’s basically sharpie ink and it’s as viscous as water. This box is great to dye your hair red if you have dark hair. It comes with two different tubes. Bigger one comes out like a cream and its white ish, then the smaller tube is the actual “dye” or ink lol. It’s labeled as “copper intensifier” or something like that. I was so indecisive to use it but it’s literally needed, because the bigger dye is just white. So you mix them together to get the red. Her friend didn't look at the label and used it on my daughters bright red hair. It was not red it was copper. I have being dying my hair bright, vibrant red for just over five years now, and Arctic Fox has been part of my color maintenance routine since day one. Vibrant red hair is not easy to maintain and keep from fading quickly, which can very quickly do serious damage to your hair if your only using ammonia-based chemical dyes every time you need to refresh your color. Arctic Fox doesn't damage hair at all. In fact, it helps undue the damage caused by permanent dyes because it doesn't have any harsh chemicals that strip hair. Arctic Fox is actually GOOD for your hair and works just like a conditioner, not like a hair dye. I add Arctic Fox to my regular conditioner (sulfate free of course) so that every time I wash my hair I'm also keeping my red looking vibrant and even healthier every time. I always wash my hair using the coolest water I can tolerate and after I shampoo I apply my premixed bottle of 3/4 sulfate free conditioner, 1/4 Arctic Fox Wrath + a dollop of Violet Dream and let it sit on my hair secured on top of my with a claw clip while I finish the rest of my shower routine, just like I would do with a nourishing hair mask. Once my routine is done, I rinse out my hair thuroughly in cool water and towel dry it only so I get the most out of conditioning my hair, and viola! My looks, feels softer and healthier than before I washed it, plus my red still looks like it did the day I first day I dyed it. It's a win win. Not only does Artic Fox keep my red looking great, but it leaves my hair healthier every time also. I love this stuff. I am older and gray hair just does not look good on me. But as I get older my hair sucks up perm hair dye on the ends and turning them black, while about 2 inches at the roots will turn either blonde or red. But Arctic Fox fits the bill, and it smells good (like grapes). It does not damage your hair, as it is semi perm and no peroxide or developer. So far I have used Wrath, Poison, Sunset Orange, Ritual, Purple Rain, Transylvania. Purple Rain (now called Purple AF) and Transylvania were used as a mix. The colors will only bleed right after you apply them, but otherwise you do not need to worry about bleeding. Arctic Fox really is like using a deep conditioner with highly pigmented color in it. Leaves your hair shiny, soft and smelling like grapes. Wash you hair in cold water and only a few times a week, the color will loose its intensity and fade not go away. The Arctic Fox web site tells you how the colors fade, for example Wrath is red but fades to pink. So in the course of 4 weeks your hair will be vibrant red, magenta, dark pink, lighter pink. I do not bleach my hair, so on the front (the gray and white part) the color looks like what it is like on bleached hair. While the back is brown about a level 5, so it is highlighted with the color I used. If you plan to use it on unbleached hair then you have to use the more vivid colors.
I have virgin dirty blonde hair. I bought the shade Transylvania which is a pure black color. I applied it last night to my clean hair, no products or nothing in it and let it sit in foil for about 40 minutes. I didn't apply the dye to my whole head, I just wanted to add pieces here and there throughout my hair like I've done in the past. Upon rinsing my hair out with cold water and letting it dry I noticed how faded the black looks. In the shower the water ran blue. I know black dyes typically contain blue but this was like a vibrant blueish green. In artificial lighting the dye in my hair looks like a dark grey, but in the natural sunlight it looks like a greyish green which isn't very pretty at the moment. The amount of time to rinse it out of my hair was over 20 minutes at least and it's still did not have the water running clear. The color turnout just made the process more disappointing. The dye stain is stuck to my scalp, the blue color on my gray strands versus normal color hair is a very obvious difference(I don't get this with other brands I've used). The rest of my hair looks untouched (yes, left it in for a full hour). The best part of the experience was the intense belly laugh I got out of my husband when he saw my entire face turn purple, hence the title of my review 😉 I did get the stains off my body fairly easy with intense and repeated scrubbing cycles of soap and conditioner. My hands are still a shade of purple. I did capture a photo of how the process looked, but it'll stay in the memory bin stowed away as I'm too embarrassed to share it! I have been doing my own hair color for over 20 years, so I have plenty of experience. The color I chose, Midnight Tanzanite, is a very deep purple/black, so I prepared carefully to color while trying to minimize staining. Instead of using the bottle with nozzle tip, I transferred the color to a bowl and used a brush to apply it carefully, trying to keep it off my scalp and everything else but my hair. I followed the directions to rinse, shampoo & condition when it was time. However, the color deeply stained my scalp, sink, & shower. The color of my hair was the intense dark purple shown on the box, but so was my scalp! It took 4 more shampoos to remove the stain from my skin, and despite bleach treatments, my tub is still stained. Note: The photo I have posted was taken after removing the stain from my scalp.Lisa
I bought this product this past weekend with the intention of doing an under-color on my natural dark brown hair. My hair doesn't normally respond to box dye, but I had seen a number of youtube reviews and tutorials showing normal people (as opposed to professionals) using this on black hair. I assumed that it would work well for me. I liked the fact that it had no bleach or ammonia. I'm not allergic, but both chemicals can be very drying. The product smelled surprisingly good and was very highly pigmented. I followed all the directions, including covering whatever I could in the bathroom with plastic coverings, and NOT rinsing it out in the bathtub or shower. I rinsed mine out in the laundry room sink. The conditioner also smelled really good and did leave my hair very healthy. However, after drying and straightening my hair, I saw no color change at all. The next day I checked in the actual sunlight and saw a few very faint highlights of what was supposed to be the color. Short version, the product didn't show up as it was supposed to. I do not blame the company it just didn't work on my hair. This is a risk with any brand. A few quick notes to help others: Get some cheap shower curtain liners to cover your surfaces, use petroleum jelly on all showing skin, put a trashbag over your back and shoulders, use makeup remover wipes to remove/fade any product that gets on skin (remove ASAP or it will stain)Amy

This is such a unique pink!!! For platinum hair only – this would never work on darker hair as it's borderline pastel. Probably the same level of pigment as another popular brand's cotton candy pink color. But this one has like a warmer tone that is SO unique I've been dying my hair crazy colors for 10 years and have never seen a shade like this. I can't even describe it accurately but it's a neon pastel leaning almost coral-ish… ok it's not coral but a warm neon pastel pink? Only bleached platinum will show this as the true color. Darker blonde than platinum I do not know as I haven't tried. Also I LOVE the container! It's like the iro one. So easy to squeeze out every drop and convenient flip top.
I am always changing my hair color so I am always willing to try a new hair color product. The NATURALS SEMI-PERMANENT HAIR COLOR is a really good product. It was easy to apply, instructions were straightened and after application, my hair felt silky and moisturized. The purple color was not bright, it was a nice plum purple color and it looked really nice in my hair once my hair was dried and blown out. I highly recommend this hair color product.

I have never used any Splat products in the past and I was excited for the opportunity to try Splat Naturals Teal Semi Permanent Hair Color. The hair color came in a pouch and the product was ready for use. I liked that I didn't have to mix any ingredients like I have to do with other semi permanent hair color products. I did not receive any gloves to use with the Splat Naturals Teal Semi Permanent Hair Color but I had a pair on hand and I greatly recommend using gloves with this product. The hair color does stain the skin and takes several washes to remove the stain. Splat Naturals Teal Semi Permanent Hair Color is easy to use. The product has a great consistency of thickness; it's not too watery or too thick, it's just right to apply to hair without worrying about dripping or running. The hair color also doesn't have a strong chemical smell like other hair color products I have used in the past, which is nice. The smell is more natural and not overwhelming. Once applied, the color needs to sit on the hair for 60 minutes to process and assure that the color sets into the hair. The product is easy to wash once the color is processed. Splat Naturals Teal Semi Permanent Hair Color is supposed to last up to 30 washes and it definitely does. There are some pros and cons with this product. This came recommended by my hair dresser. Got the purple one. First application of 20 drops turned my dark bleach blond hair a rosey pink sort of, and the ends a more vibrant purple. Was pretty patchy. Tried again with 30 drops, result was more vibrant but still very patchy, only the ends were actual purple. I tried all the stuff with not using silicone shampoo and cleansing your hair etc before the second application it made no difference whatsoever. Am letting it wash out now, it’s been 6 washes, the ends are now a horrible green/blue/grey colour, some of the hair is still pinkish it looks pretty nasty. Certainly didn’t get the lovely even purple results on the box, even though apparently this works on hair darker than mine. I followed all the instructions to the letter so I don’t think I missed the product but maybe it’s not suitable for everyone.Ruth
Recently got balayage highlights & one little streak in my fringe didn’t lift very well and was full on orange. It was done by a new starter at the salon so last thing I wanted to do was go back to get it fixed and make them look bad. Purple shampoo wasn’t cutting it as it was definitely orange not yellow. I used 1oz conditioner and just 1 drop of this and left it on the little streak for 10 mins and it has completely banished the brass. It’s a perfect perfect blonde now – not a hint of orange, not a hint of blue. Amazing!! And because I only used 1 drop I have so much left! Loved this to add rose gold, purple, and grey blond hints to dark blonde hair. I think the bad reviews people are not using correctly, maybe they are using shampoos and conditioner with silicone which coats the hair and colour cannot penetrate (listed in instructions) I have dark blonde hair with few lighter highlights and I got the pink, purple and blue to try. I applied it to dry hair to get a stronger result but I still wanted pastel, more toner than strong colour so mixed fewer drops with conditioner. The pink I mixed 3 drops, purple 4, then mixed the toner that takes brassiness from blonde hair (2 purple + 1 blue drops) and I applied to dry hair just small streaks/sections through my hair, it came out amazing colour, for all my hair is quite dark the colour tone was lovely and the purple/blue mix made the dark blonde look lighter and grey which I loved. I wash my hair in very cool water and use steam straighteners on low setting so the colour lasted well, around 8 washes and colour still there but faded. Definitely worth the money as with only doing small sections I used a quarter of the conditioner and drops so stored remaining for future applications. It can work on any hair but make sure you wash hair and apply no silicone based product until you have done the colour. Dry hair applications makes results stronger.Tracy44

I’m trying to grow out my highlights & “embrace the grey” but have a bit of fun with temporary colour while I do so. I bought this product after a lot of internet research. Did my patch test, this is a “natural” product, no ammonia, parabens etc so was hopeful. All ok & did a couple of strand tests too. Ready to go! PLEASE make sure you wear gloves, mask around your face, ears & neck with a barrier cream, rinse hair out over a sink or bath. DON’T shower it off over your body! You will look like a Smurf! I wanted to temporarily colour my hair for the start of the football (soccer) season. I left the blue on for about 2 and a half hours & the purple & pink for about an hour and a half. I wrapped my head in cling film in case it dripped, it’s a nice thick gel, so I don’t think it would but better safe that sorry. It smells fruity so no stinky head while you wait. I loved the result! My hair felt soft & moisturised, still does. I knew the blue wouldn’t last as long, red tones grip better, so after 2 weeks & 13 double shampoo washes, the blue has almost gone but the pink & purple is going strong. I still get purple hands while showering but no skin transfer so all good. I forgot to take a before so the first photo is after the strand test but you can kind of see my highlighted, grey & mousey “before” hair. Second & third photos are a day after colouring. Fourth & fifth is to show how the pink & purple have washed out & the blue is almost gone after a lot of washes. If you want a longer lasting semi permanent colour, I would highly recommend this product! Love this product!! Used for over 10 yrs now. Use Vaseline around ears and edges of face to keep stains off skin. Nail polish remover will do the rest. I have black hair and it will only show on porous strands such as bleached or blonde – otherwise it has no where to go and will stain things as it comes off. What I love is that it DOES stain which means as it fades out you still have color stained hair until it fades to a more pastel color. Keeps from having to do all the time. I use gloves to apply liberally. Smells delicious! I then wrap in a cap (plastic bag will work, too) and let it stay on as long as I can- note that this method almost blends into my black hair until a first couple washes. Also note that I would lay a towel over my pillow until the first couple washes. Also, note that I use a special towel for drying bc color will come off the wet hair. Also note that I don't wear white or swim until after the first couple of washes. It's a stronger look than a salon color and lasts a VERY long time. So, if you want a fun color for the weekend, choose something else as it really is semi-permanent and doesn't just wash away from bleached or blonde hair. Hope this helps!CrazyHair Bae
I’ve been using Punky Colors since they were originally called ‘Jerome Russell Punky Colours’. I am a professional hairstylist and I love these non-pro colors for solid colors. Cherry on Top is the perfect bright warm red. It’s bright, it’s true to shade, and there isn’t a hint of cold undertone. That’s why I prefer to use Cherry On Top paired up with the diluting clear to create my pastel pinks in warmer colors than the actual Pink Flamingo or Pastel line. It lasts longer and looks like bubblegum. Yes, this color bleeds. A lot. It is a high concentrate of pigment which helps it last longer on bleached hair and coat non-bleached hair. My suggestion to a lot of you is to get a black towel and black pillowcase so you won’t ruin anything! Always wear gloves. And just rinse it the best you can before adding any shampoo. Shampoo is what makes the color spread all over the tub and stain it. Even if you do stain the tub, most porcelain tubs it will wear off. Porous plastic tubs you can get the foaming bleach cleaning spray from any store, spray it and let it set a while, it’ll lessen the red stains. Good luck!Cotton candy Cherry

I love these colors so much, I can use this on my dark hair, and the color will still be vibrant. The great thing about this is you don’t have to bleach your hair unless you’re using a really bright color, these will give you more of like a dark cherry or like a red velvet. I recommend a 20 volume developer with these if you want to color to the powder I suggest using bleach but it will fade out later if you have bleached hair underneath. So it’s all about the preference, I preferred to just use it like this with a 20 volume because it’s less damaging been using the bleach. If you have really long hair I suggest at least three boxes if you have shorter hair I’d say use about a box and a half or two boxes if it’s really thick hair if you have super long hair I suggest six boxes or four boxes six if you have the car here.amanda.g
This is probably the best red hair dye I've used. And I've been a full red head for almost seven years (I know long time, love red ♥️) and before that it was on and off red and different colors. This red stays red. Some reds I've used, fades within a month or so, or will fade to a muddy, almost brownish. This, the red pigments stays. I haven't dyed my hair I would say about 2-3 months my hair is still red. Not as intense, but the pretty red tint is still there. Usually the red would be ugly, and faded and muddy by now. I personally think this dye is great, but I can think of another brand that has more staying power and is cheaper, so for that reason I can only give this 4 stars. The tone of this pink is unique to pinks I have bought previously and I think that's great when wanting some dimension! The texture is hard to describe but not its really creamy or gel like. And I think it smells like peppercorn, which doesn't bother me. I find a tube of this goes a really long way too, which is fantastic! The staying power is pretty average for your vivid pinks. Its rare for them to last too long. But I touch mine up every few washes around the roots and let the rest fade to a pastel, so its no big deal.dominique.f
I recently tried this product for the first time and I think it’s now one of my favorites! I’ve gotten TONS of compliments since I used Blue Ruin and I’ve used them all, over the years. Warning: stuff is Pravana Vivids level of stainage. RIP to a couple of ratty old towels, lol. My hair is between a level 2-3 with grays and I bleach and then highlight it to level 7-8. Pro tip is that I mix this product with a little conditioner and Olaplex 3 and then leave it in my hair for 2 hours. It really saves it from being fried. I tried to manage my expectations a little with this product, as it’s recommended for light blonde or pre-lightened hair but mine was a balayage with dark blonde/light brown. Turns out it defied my expectations and still came out as a super vibrant red! My hair is chest length and the tube had just about enough to cover nearly my whole head (my roots are dark so I avoided those) with a small amount of conditioner mixed in to stretch it a bit further. I’m now on wash 3 or 4 and I’m surprised by how much colour is still in my hair! The vibrancy has been toned down but it’s definitely still red and I expect it will be for a while yet.Nicole

Smells amazing and is easy to apply. Unfortunately that's where the good in my review ends. I bought the Magic Salem and pastel Iris colors and honestly? I wasn't impressed. They don't last (pastel Iris has only lasted one wash, Magic Salem – which was quoted to last 3 weeks – only lasted 3.) Not to mention, Magic Salem is their purple, but it came out blue rather than purple. And to make matters worse, the dyes faded super poorly? It looked awful.

I love Lunar Tides. The salon I go to for my highlights use this product. I also purchase this as a consumer for at home use in between salon visits. The dyes are super vibrant. A big plus is that Lunar Tides are vegan and cruelty free. I like mixing colors to make different shades. These are semi-permanent so they will wash out. I recommend washing your hair with cold water and use Watercolor Shampoo for whatever color your hair is. Lunar Tides ships their product relatively fast too and normally include a discount on next purchase.racheal.w
I bought 4 dyes from Lunar Tides: Juniper Green, Aurora Green, Pastel Iris, and their toner. the toner worked great, I loved it! however the dyes are absolutely terrible. I read so many reviews before buying from them and the only “bad” thing I could find was that it was runny and messy. the hair dye I received is almost a gel consistency, not runny at all. my hair was platinum blonde before I dyed it with juniper green. it is very dark in the container, but bright green on the hair; this was my first red flag. I kept hoping it would be darker when I washed it out but obviously it was lighter. my hair was joker green. I figured this was my fault for toning my hair and thought maybe that could be the issue. however, I also dyed part of my hair with the Pastel Iris. in the container, it looks like a darker purple (the shade you think of when I say purple) so I assumed it would be darker than I expected; it was not. it went on the hair very light, looked very similar to the toner. after I rinsed it out (with cold water as you should) the color was BARELY there. it looked like I left toner on for a little too long. again, I figured this was my fault for ordering a pastel dye. HOWEVER, I just washed my hair for the first time since dying it (it has been exactly ONE week) and the color is completely gone. the part that was dyed purple has absolutely no color in it. this was after ONE WASH. there is absolutely no reason for my hair to be blonde right now. I had to purchase a completely different dye to cover up the horrid snot green and now I have to re-dye the part that is purple EVERY TIME I want to wash my hair??? an absolute waste of money and time. should not be sold as semi-permanentzoe hintze

I really liked how this turned out on my hair. My hair is already pretty dark but my roots grow in pretty fast so this was absolutely needed. It does not have a super strong chemical smell, and left my hair feeling soft: I have problems using color that often damages my curl pattern. This did not! This is my hair immediately after wash. For reference my hair is a medium to light brown with an ash undertone and some gray hairs. Midnight blue is really nice with an undertone of a blue tint but no actual blue to your hair. Jet black is very dark, sharp and glossy looking. Natural black still solid coverage but a softer tone to it. Chestnut brown has a golden almost auburn color to it. Red hot rhythms is stunning when first applied but quickly loses color in less than a week making your hair look very much like a box dye job. Golden blond is true golden warm tone but again you need a professional to lighten your hair first in order for the color to take all the way through your hair. I don't know who has their nose broken, but the conditioner smells absolutely fabulous. Reminds of a salon honestly. obviously when you're dying you need to have a fan going but even that's not a bad smell. Bottom line as with any color going darker than your hair tone is always easy and possible. And going lighter impossible without a bleach or toner to lighten it first before depositing color. I really liked this brand, it was new to me and this is how I feel about it. Now that I’ve went through the process of dying my hair and the color has now been in for a full day. First the packaging was very neat and you knew what you were working with. Once opened everything was in the box with easy to read instructions. I was super excited to see the dye bottle was a twist off top. Usually I have to cut the tip of the dye bottle in the boxes dye that I normally use. The dye mixed after a few hard shakes, but once I poured into my hair I could see that it didn’t mix all the way so had to give a bit more hard shakes to get it to fully mix. The liquid itself was runny, I like my hair dye a bit less runny. The smell of it was not too powering, and once on the head and scalp it did burn a bit while I sat to catch my hair. The washout was nice and not messy. A few rinses and it came out clear. The product came with a very nice sized conditioner, that has left my hair super soft. The conditioner had a very nice smell. It reminded me of tropical fruit. My hair still smells like it, and I work all day. All my hair caught the color and came out great. I would recommend trying this brand if you have it within reach. I was looking to freshen my level 7 color and level 9 highlights, both ash toned, and i thought I would give this a try. I used it according to the package directions, applying all over my hair and leaving it on for 25 minutes (direction say 20 to 35 minutes). There was no visible change to the level 7 color, but my highlights are now lavender and my scalp is straight up purple! I went back to Ulta for a scalp scrub and have washed my hair 6x to try to remove the color. Thankfully, the scalp color is now gone and enough color has been removed to allow me to return to work without lavender hair!Janet
For years I have experimented with different ways to keep my blonde fresh, brass free and have that just out of salon tone and finish without the damage. I have tried several things from sallys toner to demi permanent color, purple shampoos, toning masks, etc to do the trick but nothing worked or gave the results I was looking for without damage. This is amazing! No harsh smell at all and gentle on the hair. I leave on for the max time I believe was 20 mins and covered. My blonde looked so pretty, and fresh with the correct tone without the drying/excess damage for several weeks. It was not until maybe the third or fourth week that I noticed I needed a slight refresh and got about 1.5 uses for my very long hair. Thanks guys for creating a great product. This is my go to now for great, salon looking results. I was looking for something that would give a boost to my blonde highlights (level 9 ash). I use a purple shampoo on a daily basis. I used the product exactly as instructed and left the product on my hair for 25 minutes. My scalp is now a beautiful shade of violet and my hair is very dull and dry looking. Not pure henna! I've been using BAQ henna for 10 years but recently grew out the henna and had ****** medium blonde hair. This stuff dyed my hair a deep red in one application, from my natural medium blonde. That can't happen with pure henna. No highlights, dyed my hair a uniform dark red. It was a nice color though. Then, I noticed that I was shedding a lot. Which, I had read in other reviews and didn't think it was a big deal. I don't normally shed so I wasn't too concerned. The other day I realized my hair was actually breaking off about two inches from my scalp. I've never had that happen before. I was growing out my hair and now I'll have to cut it pixie length. I'm afraid to put any color on top since I don't know what was in the henna. Oh, and it's been two months and the color is still bleeding when I shower (I don't use harsh shampoo or anything with honey or tea tree oil which I noticed will lighten henna). It's super disheartening after reading all the good reviews. This stuff is not BAQ. For those interested, I used the Deep Red Henna Hair Dye (has clay in it, which I've used before) dye released with room temperature chamomile tea. Dye released overnight and applied to clean damp hair for 3 hours.Kiley
This was my first time using henna hair dye. I was skeptical as to how well it would cover grays because even the chemical laden boxed dyes do not 100% cover them. I was pleasantly surprised! Henna dye actually covered my grays better than boxed dyes. Yes, there is more time and effort put into using henna but it is SO worth it. My hair has never looked this healthy after using chemical dyes. My scalp did not itch and I did not get my usual headache when dying my hair. About a year ago, I started reading about all of the bad chemicals in hair dyes and decided I needed to find a healthier alternative, but because boxed dyes are easier to purchase and use, I never got around to switching to something safer. Y'all, I have been struggling with my hair recently. I moved towns and lost my long term hairstylists as a result. Three new hairstylists later, dissatisfied and tired of paying city prices for inferior service, I decided to take my hair into my own hands. Try as I might, I kept getting it wrong with dyes from Sally's, once dying it so dark that I freaked and washed it with evil shampoo and baking soda a million times to try to bleed the color out. Then me and my head full of greys decided that, gosh darn it, we were going to try henna. I got a henna cream by another company and it left me with highlighter orange roots despite being a mahogany shade. I had ordered some natural red henna from Henna Guys previously but talked myself out of using it because the shade was too light. So I ordered the Burgundy. Last night, I mixed the henna/indigo/clay powder with approximately 2 cups of black coffee and beat it dutifully until it resembled brownie batter. I left it over night and woke up early this morning, washed my hair with clarifying shampoo, blowed it dry. After I stirred in a tablespoon of ACV, it was time to apply my henna. I found it went on great and honestly liked the application process more than chemical dyes. I put the bowl over a trashbag in my sink but honestly I made less of a mess than I normally do. I applied to just my roots and a couple inches down and let it sit 1.5 hour. Then I added it to my lengths for the remaining 1.5 hour. I rinsed as instructed and conditioned some argan deep conditioner. I am so stoked. I am in love with this henna and I am never looking back! Isn't this just the prettiest color?Miss K.

I’m trying to grow out my highlights & “embrace the grey” but have a bit of fun with temporary colour while I do so. I bought this product after a lot of internet research. Did my patch test, this is a “natural” product, no ammonia, parabens etc so was hopeful. All ok & did a couple of strand tests too. Ready to go! PLEASE make sure you wear gloves, mask around your face, ears & neck with a barrier cream, rinse hair out over a sink or bath. DON’T shower it off over your body! You will look like a Smurf! I wanted to temporarily colour my hair for the start of the football (soccer) season. I left the blue on for about 2 and a half hours & the purple & pink for about an hour and a half. I wrapped my head in cling film in case it dripped, it’s a nice thick gel, so I don’t think it would but better safe that sorry. It smells fruity so no stinky head while you wait. I loved the result! My hair felt soft & moisturised, still does. I knew the blue wouldn’t last as long, red tones grip better, so after 2 weeks & 13 double shampoo washes, the blue has almost gone but the pink & purple is going strong. I still get purple hands while showering but no skin transfer so all good. I forgot to take a before so the first photo is after the strand test but you can kind of see my highlighted, grey & mousey “before” hair. Second & third photos are a day after colouring. Fourth & fifth is to show how the pink & purple have washed out & the blue is almost gone after a lot of washes. If you want a longer lasting semi permanent colour, I would highly recommend this product! Love this product!! Used for over 10 yrs now. Use Vaseline around ears and edges of face to keep stains off skin. Nail polish remover will do the rest. I have black hair and it will only show on porous strands such as bleached or blonde – otherwise it has no where to go and will stain things as it comes off. What I love is that it DOES stain which means as it fades out you still have color stained hair until it fades to a more pastel color. Keeps from having to do all the time. I use gloves to apply liberally. Smells delicious! I then wrap in a cap (plastic bag will work, too) and let it stay on as long as I can- note that this method almost blends into my black hair until a first couple washes. Also note that I would lay a towel over my pillow until the first couple washes. Also, note that I use a special towel for drying bc color will come off the wet hair. Also note that I don't wear white or swim until after the first couple of washes. It's a stronger look than a salon color and lasts a VERY long time. So, if you want a fun color for the weekend, choose something else as it really is semi-permanent and doesn't just wash away from bleached or blonde hair. Hope this helps!CrazyHair Bae
I’ve been using Punky Colors since they were originally called ‘Jerome Russell Punky Colours’. I am a professional hairstylist and I love these non-pro colors for solid colors. Cherry on Top is the perfect bright warm red. It’s bright, it’s true to shade, and there isn’t a hint of cold undertone. That’s why I prefer to use Cherry On Top paired up with the diluting clear to create my pastel pinks in warmer colors than the actual Pink Flamingo or Pastel line. It lasts longer and looks like bubblegum. Yes, this color bleeds. A lot. It is a high concentrate of pigment which helps it last longer on bleached hair and coat non-bleached hair. My suggestion to a lot of you is to get a black towel and black pillowcase so you won’t ruin anything! Always wear gloves. And just rinse it the best you can before adding any shampoo. Shampoo is what makes the color spread all over the tub and stain it. Even if you do stain the tub, most porcelain tubs it will wear off. Gifted by Kiss Colors and Care. I went in to coloring my hair with neutral expectations but was quickly very surprised at how well this worked out. This is a semi-permanent product meant to only be applied from 1/8 inch from your scalp down to the ends. Process is super easy and simple; apply on clean towel dried hair, process for 15 minutes and wash out. You can get this product all over you and it washes off as if it were water, leaving behind no color on your skin and only on your hair. I ended up applying most of the bottle as I did not know if applying a small amount would give me the desired effect. Formulated without ammonia, peroxide or sulfates this will be a go to for me. I applied on previously colored hair that had already begun to grow out so this product attached to my previously colored hair and not the roots. Has argan oil, olive oil, keratin, collagen and is made with aloe vera water. It has a light pleasant scent and does not irritate my scalp or skin. I have the ruby red level 5 and it is a beautiful color, I really enjoy it. My hair was also left soft and tangle free. I had no issues with brushing through or washing out as well. These colors are amazing, pretty and bright but didn't really worked for me. I think it's partially my fault though because my ends are a brassy color and that will obviously have a different outcome. I think letting this color fall and using toner to have less of a brass color and putting the dye then maybe the pink color will show up more. Right now, this product did dye my hair but not the color that was in the bottle, it turned orange lol (i used 2 bottles).Also, this dye has an amazing smell and lasts a long while too, my hair smelled really nice after showering. I apply it, comb it thru and let it set between 1/2 hr and 1 hour depending on the amount of orange I got going on.. wash it out and BAM! It's perfect! Go with Excellence. I normally use L’Oréal Excellence but decided to tried something different and tried Preference in same shade I usually use in dark ash brown. Well, Excellence does a better job… Preference faded and washed out from my gray roots. I had to do a double take to make sure I used permanent dye. Well it was! I have partial gray areas I use the dye to cover. I don’t recall having this issue w/ Excellence. If you have gray you’re looking to cover, go with Excellence. More user friendly also since it’s cream based not liquid as well.Target Shopper
I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. I will update with photos if that happens.julie.h
I don't know if I got a defective kit, but this product did pretty much nothing on my hair. I got it with the understanding that the result would be slightly redder than the swatches, as I was using this to reduce a brassy faded red color that did not take and lighten my light brown hair to a strawberry blonde. My original shade does, in fact match the light brown swatch on the product. However, after application, there was very little difference in the result and certainly nowhere near the lighter blonde swatch that was shown on the package. The product did not thicken very quickly when mixed (which is unusual for hair color but not unexpected as some color mixes will thicken a lot whereas some will thicken very little) and turned to a gel-like consistency after approximately 10 minutes. The product shows a 1-3 level lift on light brown to blonde hair. This product did not provide even a 1 level lift on my hair, which has always been very easy to color, even with this product line in other shades. Honestly, I could have gotten a better result with a product like 'Sun-in'. So I was very disappointed in this product and would not recommend 8.5A Champagne Blonde to anyone needing a light brown/dark blonde to a lighter blonde result.
