We have two short hair chihuahuas and they are very dandruffy. Anytime they get a nice scratch they're covered in dandruff. Especially noticeable because they have black fur. We have a beautiful 11 year old Golden Shepherd named Lilah, even though she is in great shape she tends to get stiff after lying down for long periods of time or when she plays a little too long. The spirit is willing but she is getting older even though both her and I do not want to admit it. After adding glucosamine to her diet we noticed a little improvement but want to give her the best so we purchased this product. I bought this oil for a new addition, a senior dog who is blind, deaf & itchy, with some loss of coat. It helps with her itching, BUT the product turned to a very thick, gloppy mess that resisted being pumped in very short order after opening. Quality projects with over the top customer care. My 14 yo terrier was diagnosed with kidney disease. My vet basically made it sound like a death sentence and only recommended Science Diet kidney kibble. After some of my own research, I knew kibble was inappropriate and she refused to eat the very disgusting canned food. That's when I found Dr. Harvey's. They advised me via text and phone call until I had the right menu for my dog. I cannot thank them enough – I have my dog back! She feels like her old, sassy self. We used this product on our grand dog. He was a scaly, crusty mess and had lost most of his hair. We took him to the vet and put him a regimen of medicated shampoo, oral antibiotics and an immunomodulator. We used the Skin Soother immediately after his daily bath. My pug had a dark bald spot on his neck from scratching and I was looking for something that would hopefully heal the area and let his hair grow back. I discovered the skin soother and decided to give it a try and this worked like magic! I ordered the 2 oz stick version and loved it. The application was great. It was very easy and clean to apply overall. I applied it to the area twice a day for two weeks before I was able to start seeing results. The hair started growing back and the dark skin was lightening up and becoming less dry and flaky. At the same time, my dog was scratching at it less so that was a plus. Only thing is this stick was practically gone by my second week. It would not have come close to lasting the month. That being said, I had to order another to see continued results but I ordered the larger tin instead. My only issue with this product is the tin is a lot harder to apply. The texture itself is not as soft and smooth as the stick. I also had to use my own hands to spread it on which I did not like at all. It also gets messy in the tin as my pug sheds so there is now hair stuck in the product. My recommendation to the company would be to have the stick in a larger option and I would gladly purchase that. I will start off by saying that my senior dog, London, can be picky about her treats and she really enjoyed the Zesty Paws Senior Advanced Omega Bites. I haven't seen a huge transformation in her skin or coat, but I feel like a supplement like this takes at least 3 months to show results. I do like that it has omegas, collagen, and flaxseed. I wish it didn't have pea powder but that's better than lentils. All that said I also feel it's very expensive and I would have to see amazing results to pay $35 for a supplement considering I'm already paying out the nose for required medications. I usually use the grizzly brand but decided to stop into unleashed to see that they had. This is awful. It smells worse than the usual ones and the container leaks(actually maybe that’s why it smells). I really want to throw it away since it is making a mess but this stuff isn’t cheap. The description online says ingredients: salmon oil and preservatives (another bad thing). When I received the bottle, the label states salmon oil and two other cheaper fish oils. My dogs love this stuff! They mainly eat dry food and occasionally I add a spoon or two of canned food as a topper to make things more palatable. Adding this supplement was a game changer. The dogs gobble up all of their food! It’s too soon to tell if there’s a positive effect on their hair/skin, but I’m sure that their coats will improve. My Pomeranian suffers from BSD and has lost a lot of his fur. I have tried treatments from the vets but with no avail. I decided to buy this Dermagic lotion in conjunction with the same brand shampoo and conditioner. The lotion is oily and don’t need much. The smell is rosemary which is ok but does linger. Ok, so I have a large breed dog in his senior years. I have raised him (from 9 weeks) on a large breed, good quality food. If you have a large breed dog, you know what that means. Per Vet recommendations, I have been supplementing his food and other meds with Free Form Snip Tips. They are VERY easy to use and give him the extra support he needs for his old joints. I just "snip the tip" off and squirt them over his food. Easy peasy. He is taking so much between Rx meds and supplements that I absolutely get online and price shop. I was using the bite-sized chewable Omega 3 supplement "treats", and found that I hated to handle them. they would crumble when touched and it was a bit of a mess giving them to all three dogs. Then, I discovered the snap-tip capsule form and I think it's way better. The dog's coats really shine and there's no more chronic itching by my 13-year old girl. The capsules do smell strongly of fish oil and I have to handle them with rubber gloves on, because if I don't I have to scrub the smell off my fingers (sometimes twice) with a nail brush before it comes off. Very piercing fish smell! But, these caps really work, and the dogs love the taste of the oil in their food. I will stick with the caps from now on.rosie64
A veterinary orthopedist recommended this product for our dogs, and we really do believe it's helped with their joints, and over-all well being. I started them out on the capsules, but they got to where they wouldn't eat them. I find the "snips" too difficult to remove, and messy. We went to the liquid, and I just add two pumps to their food in the mornings. This works well, but my only complaint is that the liquid only comes in a 4 oz. size.
